Abstract

This technical report provides a detailed description of our approach to the EgoSchema Challenge 2024. The EgoSchema Challenge aims to identify the most appropriate responses to questions regarding a given video clip. In this paper, we propose Video Question Answering with Dynamically Generated Multi-Agents (VDMA). This method is a complementary approach to existing response generation systems by employing a multi-agent system with dynamically generated expert agents. This method aims to provide the most accurate and contextually appropriate responses. Abstract

In this report, we describe the technical details of our approach for the Ego4D Long-Term Action Anticipation Challenge 2023. The aim of this task is to predict a sequence of future actions that will take place at an arbitrary time or later, given an input video. To accomplish this task, we introduce three improvements to the baseline model, which consists of an encoder that generates clip-level features from the video, an aggregator that integrates multiple clip-level features, and a decoder that outputs Z future actions. 1) Model ensemble of SlowFast and SlowFast-CLIP; 2) Label smoothing to relax order constraints for future actions; 3) Constraining the prediction of the action class (verb, noun) based on word co-occurrence. Our method outperformed the baseline performance and recorded as second place solution on the public leaderboard.

Abstract

Background: Dyskeratosis congenita (DKC), also known as Zinsser–Cole–Engman syndrome, is a progressive genetic disease with a triad of reticulate skin pigmentation, nail dystrophy, and leukoplakia. Approximately 8–10% of patients with DKC develop malignancies, and cases of colorectal cancer with DKC in young people have been reported previously. Case presentation: A 25-year-old man with DKC since approximately 10 years of age developed fever and lower abdominal discomfort. Diagnostic imaging revealed locally advanced rectal cancer with lymph node metastasis, direct invasion of the prostate, and pelvic abscess due to tumor microperforation (cT4bN2M0 cStage IIIC). Biopsy showed well to moderately differentiated ductal adenocarcinoma. Genetic testing was negative for RAS and BRAF gene mutations, and microsatellite instability (MSI) testing was also negative. After sigmoid colostomy, the patient was treated with total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) with systemic chemotherapy (six courses of FOLFOX + panitumumab) followed by chemoradiation therapy (50.4 Gy with capecitabine). After TNT, the primary tumor and metastatic lymph nodes shrank. According to the findings of colonoscopy and magnetic resonance image (MRI), we diagnosed near complete response (near-CR) and decided to follow the patient without surgery by every 3 months re-evaluation. However, 5 months after TNT, tumor regrowth was detected on colonoscopy and imaging, and the patient underwent total pelvic exenteration. He developed paralytic ileus as a postoperative complication, and was discharged on the 38th postoperative day. Pathological examination revealed a residual tumor with invasion of the periprostatic tissue. There was no metastasis in the pararectal and lateral pelvic lymph nodes, but one extramural non-contiguous cancerous extension (tumor deposit) was observed (ypT4bN1cM0 ypStage IIIC). The patient has been free of recurrence for one year after surgery. Conclusions: DKC often develops into various tumors in the digestive system at an early age; therefore, appropriate surveillance may be required. In addition, considering that cancers in patients with DKC occur at a young age, fertility preservation and survivorship are also important, and adequate explanations and care should be provided to patients before and after treatment. 18. Reversible Adsorption of Ammonia in the Crystalline Solid of a CO2H-Functionalized Cyclic Oligophenylene

Abstract

Ammonia (NH3) is a viable candidate for the storage and distribution of hydrogen (H2) due to its exceptional volumetric and gravimetric hydrogen energy density. Therefore, it is desirable to develop NH3storage materials that exhibit robust stability across numerous adsorption–desorption cycles. While porous materials with polymeric frameworks are often used for NH3capture, achieving reversible NH3uptake remains a formidable challenge, primarily due to the high reactivity of NH3. Here, we advocate the use of CO2H-functionalized cyclic oligophenylene 1awith high chemical stability as a novel single-molecule-based adsorbent for NH3. Simple reprecipitation of 1aselectively yielded microporous crystalline solid 1a(N). Crystalline 1a(N) adsorbs up to 8.27 mmol/g of NH3at 100 kPa and 293 K. Adsorbed NH3in the pore of 1a(N) has a packing density of 0.533 g/cm3at 293 K, which is close to the density of liquid NH3(0.681 g/cm3at 240 K). Crystalline 1a(N) also exhibits reversible NH3adsorption over at least nine cycles, sustaining its storage capacity (1st cycle: 8.27 mmol/g; 9th cycle: 8.25 mmol/g at 100 kPa and 293 K) and crystallinity. During each desorption cycle, NH3was removed from 1a(N) under reduced pressure (∼65 Pa), leaving <3% of the total uptake, and 1a(N) was fully purged under dynamic vacuum conditions (∼5 × 10–4Pa at 293 K for 1 h) before the subsequent adsorption cycles. Thus, microporous crystalline 1a(N) can reliably adsorb and desorb NH3repeatedly, which avoids the need for heat-based activation between cycles.

Consider the Cauchy problem for the non-degenerate Kirchhoff type dissipative wave equations with the initial data belonging to (H2(RN)∩L1(RN))×(H1(RN)∩L1(RN)). Using the Fourier transform method in the L2 ∩ L1-frame, we can improve the decay rates of the energies given by the energy method of the L2-frame.

A K+-promoted Diels–Alder reaction of 1,4,9,10-anthradiquinone with various dienes is achieved in the presence of a self-assembled macrocyclic boronic ester., A K+-promoted Diels–Alder reaction of 1,4,9,10-anthradiquinone with various dienes is achieved in the presence of a self-assembled macrocyclic boronic ester [2+2]crown containing two crown ether moieties. The reaction rate is remarkably accelerated (up to 206-fold) compared to that in the absence of the promoter. Furthermore, the reaction proceeds regioselectively to yield an internal adduct. The self-assembly protocol was also demonstrated.

Abstract

We study on the Cauchy problem for non-degenerate Kirchhoff type dissipative wave equations ρu′′ + a (||A1/2u(t)||2) Au + u′ = 0 and (u(0), u′(0)) = (u0, u1), where u0 ≠ 0 and the nonlocal nonlinear term a(M) = 1+Mγ with γ > 0. Under the suitably smallness condition, we derive the upper decay estimates of the solution u(t) for the case of 0 < γ < 1 in addition to γ ≥ 1.
