2. Solution-Processable Hole-Transporting Polymers: Synthesis, Doping Study and Crosslinking Induced by UV-Irradiation or Huisgen-Click Cycloaddition

- Abstract
A pair of hole-conducting polymers comprising 3,6-linked carbazole and meta-linked anisole derivatives having solubilizing moieties to enable their solution processability, and complementarily reactive side-groups (azide and alkyne) for cross-linking, are synthesized and characterized. The polymers can be cross-linked either by thermal annealing at relatively low temperatures in the 85–110 °C range, or by UV irradiation. A general applicability of the latter for a photolithographic patterning of the hole conducting polymer is proven. The polymers have an ionization potential (IP) of 5.8 eV, close to the IP of a small molecule hole-conductor tris(4-carbazoyl-9-ylphenyl)amine (TCTA). In combination with a strong dopant hexacyano-trimethylene-cyclopropane (CN6CP), but not with commercial 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4TCNQ), the polymers can be efficiently p-doped to increase their conductivity by 5–6 orders of magnitude, as measured in devices with a lateral setup. Taken together, these characteristics suggest that the synthesized polymers are promising candidates for their use in solution-processable organic light-emitting diodes as hole-injection layer and hole-transporting layer materials, which will be verified in the upcoming work. © 2022 The Authors. 4. Tuning Orientational Order of Highly Aggregating P(NDI2OD-T2) by Solvent Vapor Annealing and Blade Coating

- Abstract
Its inherent strong tendency to aggregate in solution is used in the following study to prepare highly anisotropic films of the n-type copolymer poly{[N,N'-bis(2-octyldodecyl)naphthalene-1,4,5,8-bis(dicarboximide)-2,6-diyl]-alt-5,5'-(2,2'-bithiophene)} (P(NDI2OD-T2)). Solvent vapor annealing (SVA) allows to tune the size of oriented domains in spherulite-like superstructures with alignment up to several hundreds of micrometers. Blade coating (BC), on the other hand, yields square centimeter large perfectly oriented films with dichroic ratios of 18 and charge transport anisotropies up to 14. On the nanometer scale highly oriented fibers of form I are visible in the oriented areas with the fiber long axis parallel to the chain direction. We give experimental evidence that structure formation does involve liquid crystal (LC) mesophases at high solution concentrations which are frozen upon solvent removal. Temperature post-treatment of the oriented films gives, on the other hand, evidence for a classical semicrystalline nature of this polymer with spherulites consisting of crystalline and amorphous domains. These findings point to a different growth behavior than previously discussed for the well-studied p-type polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene) and suggests that the definition and distinction between liquid-crystalline and semicrystalline nature might need to be reassessed.

Розглянуті режими ультразвукової обробки водно-графітового мастила ОГВ-75 з метою збільшення його ефективності при гарячій обробці металів тиском. Ефективність мастила оцінювали двома методами: за бочкоутворенням циліндричних зразків, що осаджені (метод С.І. Губкіна), та методом кільцевих зразків (метод А.Т. Мейла та М.Г. Кокрофта). Показано, що дія вібрації з частотою 100 Гц протягом 60 хвилин дозволяє знизити коефіцієнт тертя для мастила на 16% (метод С.І. Губкіна) і на 30% (метод А.Т. Мейла та М.Г. Кокрофта). Встановлено, що метод визначення коефіцієнта тертя за бочкоутворенням зразків, що осаджені, дає значення, що на 26-47% більші, ніж за методом кільцевих зразків, Рассмотрены режимы ультразвуковой обработки водно-графитовой смазки ОГВ-75 с целью повышения ее эффективности при горячей обработке металлов давлением. Эффективность смазки оценивали двумя методами: по бочкообразности осаженных цилиндрических образцов (метод С.И. Губкина) и методом осадки кольцевых образцов (метод А.Т. Мейла и М.Г. Кокрофта). Показано, что при воздействии вибрации с частотой 100 Гц в течение 60 минут можно снизить коэффициент трения для смазки на 16% (метод С.И. Губкина) и на 30% (метод А.Т. Мейла и М.Г. Кокрофта). The authors studied sonification regimes of the ОГВ-75 lubricant based on water and graphite. The purpose of this research was to improve the lubricant efficiency when using it in metal forming processes at high temperatures. The «Alpha-Bioton» oscillator with the operating frequency of 50-300 Hz was used to process the ОГВ-75 lubricant concentrate which had been previously diluted with water in the ratio 1:10. Processing time was 30, 60, 90 minutes, the amplitude of oscillation was 0,5-3,0 mm. The researchers evaluated the effectiveness of lubrication using two methods: the method of cylindrical samples with the lateral surface of the samples in the form of a parabola (S.I. Gubkin method); the method of ring patterns (A.N. Male and M.G. Cockcroft method). A Pd/Pt-Bu
3 catalyst having bulky, electron-rich ligands significantly outperforms conventional "step-growth catalysts" Pd(PPh3 )4 and Pd(Po-Tol3 )3 in the Suzuki polycondensation of the AB-type arylene-based monomers, such as some of the substituted fluorenes, carbazoles, and phenylenes. In the AA+BB polycondensation, Pd/Pt-Bu3 also performs better under homogeneous reaction conditions, in combination with the organic base Et4 NOH. The superior performance of Pd/Pt-Bu3 is discussed in terms of its higher reactivity in the oxidative addition step and inherent advantages of the intramolecular catalyst transfer, which is a key step joining catalytic cycles of the AB-polycondensation. These findings are applied to the synthesis of a carbazole-based copolymer designed for the use as a hole conductor in solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes., (© 2019 The Authors. 8. Laser Treatment as Sintering Process for Dispenser Printed Bismuth Telluride Based Paste.

- Abstract
Laser sintering as a thermal post treatment method for dispenser printed p- and n-type bismuth telluride based thermoelectric paste materials was investigated. A high-power fiber laser (600 W, 1064 nm) was used in combination with a scanning system to achieve high processing speed. A Design of Experiment (DoE) approach was used to identify the most relevant processing parameters. Printed layers were laser treated with different process parameters and the achieved sheet resistance, electrical conductivity, and Seebeck coefficient are compared to tube furnace processed reference specimen. For p-type material, electrical conductivity of 22 S/cm was achieved, compared to 15 S/cm in tube furnace process. For n-type material, conductivity achieved by laser process was much lower (7 S/cm) compared to 88 S/cm in furnace process. Also, Seebeck coefficient decreases during laser processing (40-70 µV/K and -110 µV/K) compared to the oven process (251 µV/K and -142 µV/K) for p- and n-type material. DoE did not yet deliver a set of optimum processing parameters, but supports doubts about the applicability of area specific laser energy density as a single parameter to optimize laser sintering process.

9. Influence of Semiconductor Thickness and Molecular Weight on the Charge Transport of a Naphthalenediimide-Based Copolymer in Thin-Film Transistors.

The N-type semiconducting polymer, P(NDI2OD-T2), with different molecular weights (MW=23, 72, and 250 kg/mol) was used for the fabrication of field-effect transistors (FETs) with different semiconductor layer thicknesses. FETs with semiconductor layer thicknesses from ∼15 to 50 nm exhibit similar electron mobilities (μ's) of 0.2-0.45 cm2 V(-1) s(-1). Reduction of the active film thickness led to decreased μ values; however, FETs with ∼2 and ∼5 nm thick P(NDI2OD-T2) films still exhibit substantial μ's of 0.01-0.02 and ∼10(-4) cm2 V(-1) s(-1), respectively. Interestingly, the lowest molecular weight sample (P-23, MW≈23 kg/mol, polydispersity index (PDI)=1.9) exhibited higher μ than the highest molecular weight sample (P-250, MW≈250 kg/mol, PDI=2.3) measured for thicker devices (15-50 nm). This is rather unusual behavior because typically charge carrier mobility increases with MW where improved grain-to-grain connectivity usually enhances transport events. We attribute this result to the high crystallinity of the lowest MW sample, as confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction studies, which may (over)compensate for other effects.
