This article discusses the incidence and risk factors for malignancies in patients who have undergone heart transplantation at a single center. The study analyzed data from 296 patients who had undergone heart transplantation between September 2010 and August 2023. The overall incidence of malignancy was 8.8%, with skin cancer being the most common type. The study found that the switch to everolimus as part of the immunosuppression therapy did not reduce the incidence of malignancies. Early detection through close follow-up is important for improving the prognosis of these malignancies. [Extracted from the article]

Objective: To investigate whether baseline symptomatic status influences response to tiotropium/olodaterol treatment. Materials and methods: Post hoc analysis of the randomized OTEMTO® studies (NCT01964352; NCT02006732), in which patients with moderate-to-severe COPD received placebo, tiotropium 5 µg, tiotropium/olodaterol 2.5/5 µg, or tiotropium/olodaterol 5/5 µg once daily for 12 weeks via the Respimat® inhaler (Boehringer Ingelheim, Ingelheim am Rhein, Germany). Impact of baseline symptomatic status (modified Medical Research Council [mMRC] score) on response to treatment with tiotropium/olodaterol 5/5 µg, tiotropium 5 µg, or placebo at Week 12 was assessed by St George’s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) total score and response rate, transition dyspnea index (TDI) focal score and response rate, and trough forced expiratory volume in 1 second response. Results: Tiotropium/olodaterol improved SGRQ total scores and response rates compared with placebo and tiotropium for patients with baseline mMRC scores 0–1 and ≥2. However, there may be racial differences in the effects of T+O on lung function in patients with COPD.Methods: In this Tondao® subgroup analysis, we assessed efficacy and safety of T+O in Japanese participants.Results: Versus the overall population, the 413 Japanese patients randomized and treated were slightly older, with more men, lower body mass index, lower baseline St George’s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) scores, fewer current smokers, but with higher pack-year smoking history. A lower proportion of Japanese patients used inhaled corticosteroids, short-acting muscarinic antagonists, or short- or long-acting β-adrenergic agonists at baseline, but use of long-acting muscarinic antagonists was higher. At Week 24, mean improvements with T+O 5/5 µg in forced expiratory volume in 1 second area under the curve from 0–3 hours response were 151 mL versus olodaterol and 134 mL versus tiotropium 5 µg; mean improvements with T+O 2.5/5 µg were 87 mL versus olodaterol and 70 mL versus tiotropium 2.5 µg. Mean improvements with T+O 5/5 µg in trough forced expiratory volume in 1 second were 131 mL versus olodaterol and 108 mL versus tiotropium 5 µg; mean improvements with T+O 2.5/5 µg were 60 mL versus olodaterol and 47 mL versus tiotropium 2.5 µg. SGRQ scores improved from baseline to a greater extent with both doses of T+O versus monotherapies. Responses were similar in the overall population. Introduction: This study provides an update of survey-based data providing an overview of interventional electrophysiology over the last decade. Overall infrastructure, procedures, and training opportunities in Germany were assessed. Methods: By analyzing mandatory quality reports, German cardiology centres performing electrophysiological studies were identified to repeat a questionnaire from 2010 and 2015. Results: A complete questionnaire was returned by 192 centers performing about 75% of all ablations in Germany in 2020. In the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic, a total of 76.304 procedures including 68.407 ablations were reported representing a 38% increase compared to 2015. The median number of ablations increased from 180 in 2010 to 377 in 2020. AF was the most common arrhythmia ablated (51 vs. 35% in 2010). PVI with radiofrequency point-by-point ablation (64%) and cryo-balloon ablation (34%) were the preferred strategies. Less than 50 (75) PVI were performed by 31% (36%) of all centres. Only 25 and 24% of participating centres fulfilled EHRA and national requirements for training centre accreditation, respectively. There was a high number of EP centres with no fellows (38%). The proportion of female fellows in EP increased from 26% in 2010 to 33% in 2020. Conclusion: Comparing 2020, 2010 and 2015, an increasing number of EP centres and procedures were registered. In 2020, more than every second ablation was for therapy of AF. In the presence of an increasing number of procedures, training opportunities were still limited, and most centres did not fulfill recommended EHRA or national requirements for accreditation. The n_TOF neutron time-of-flight facility at CERN is used for high quality nuclear data measurements from thermal energy up to hundreds of MeV. In line with the CERN open data policy, the n_TOF Collaboration takes actions to preserve its unique data, facilitate access to them in standardised format, and allow their re-use by a wide community in the fields of nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics and various nuclear technologies. The present contribution briefly describes the n_TOF outcomes, as well as the status of dissemination and preservation of n_TOF final data in the international EXFOR library.

The 235U neutron-induced cross section is widely used as reference cross section for measuring other fission cross sections, but in the resonance region it is not considered as an IAEA standard because of the scarce experimental data covering the full region. In this work, we deal with a new analysis of the experimental data obtained with a detection setup based on parallel plate ionization chambers (PPACs) at the CERN n_TOF facility in the range from 1 eV to 10 keV. The relative cross section has been normalised to the IAEA value in the region between 7.8 and 11 eV, which is claimed as well-known. Comparison with the ENDF/B-VII evaluation and the IAEA reference file from 100 eV to 10 keV are provided.

The 238U fission cross section is an international standard beyond 2 MeV where the fission plateau starts. However, due to its importance in fission reactors, this cross-section should be very accurately known also in the threshold region below 2 MeV. The 238U fission cross section has been measured relative to the 235U fission cross section at CERN – n_TOF with different detection systems. These datasets have been collected and suitably combined to increase the counting statistics in the threshold region from about 300 keV up to 3 MeV. The results are compared with other experimental data, evaluated libraries, and the IAEA standards.
