X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) caused by ATP-binding cassette subfamily D member 1 (ABCD1) gene defects is the most common inherited peroxisomal disorder.The female cerebello-brainstem dominant type in which cerebellum and brainstem are mainly involved is very rare. We report a 40-year-old female who was diagnosed as the rare disorder with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and genetic analysis mainly. Her initial symptoms were progressive slurred speech and writing disturbance. Her brain MRI showed obvious atrophy of brainstem and cerebellum. She did not have adrenal insufficiency. Genetic analysis showed a heterozygous missense mutation in exon 4 of the coding region of ABCD1 (c.1252C > T, p.Arg418Trp).This is the first report of this particular mutation being associated with the cerebello-brainstem dominant phenotype of X-ALD, as well as the first description of this X-ALD variant in a (heterozygous) female patient.X-ALD should be considered in young and middle-aged patients with slow-progressing ataxia and dysarthria.

Myasthenia gravis with positive MuSK antibody often involves the bulbar muscles and is usually refractory to acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. For MuSK-MG patients who experience acute exacerbations and do not respond to conventional treatments, there is an urgent need to find more suitable treatment options. With the advent of biologic agents, efgartigimod has shown promising results in the treatment of MG. We report a 65-year-old MuSK-MG patient who presented with impaired eye movements initially, and the symptoms rapidly worsened within a week, affecting the limbs and neck muscles, and had difficulties in chewing and swallowing. Lymphoplasmapheresis did not achieve satisfactory results, but after a cycle of efgartigimod treatment, the patient’s symptoms gradually improved and remained in a good clinical state for several months.

High-efficiency electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composite films (EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) value > 100 dB) with a small thickness are imminently desired for eliminating the serious electromagnetic wave pollution. Herein, asymmetric sandwiched silver-coated four-needle zinc oxide whisker/nanofibrillated cellulose/Ti3C2Tx (F-ZnO&Ag/NFC/Ti3C2Tx) composite films consisting of the loose F-ZnO&Ag sedimentary layer and compact upper Ti3C2Tx layer were successful fabricated by a facile one-pot vacuum filtration method in combination with gravity-induced delamination. Arising from the favorable electrical conductivity and unique asymmetric sandwich structure, electromagnetic waves can be trapped and dissipated in the F-ZnO&Ag skeletons and strongly multiply reflected between top Ti3C2Tx layer and bottom F-ZnO&Ag layers. Thereby, F-ZnO&Ag/NFC/Ti3C2Tx-30.4 exhibits the ultrahigh averaged EMI SET of 103.9 dB (the maximal value of 123.8 dB) at a low thickness of merely 209 μm, which is far superior to that of almost all the reported NFC composites at the similar thickness to date. In the real EMI shielding application test, composite films are confirmed to block signal transmission and switch off the toy car system. Such simple and high-efficiency asymmetric sandwich structure design makes a great progress towards preparing and adjusting thin EMI shielding composite films for the promising application prospects in advanced electronics and communication technology.

Abstract Transient stress experiences not only trigger acute stress responses, but can also have long-lasting effects on cellular functions. In Caenorhabditis elegans, a brief exposure to heat shock during early adulthood extends lifespan and improves stress resistance, a phenomenon known as heat hormesis. Here, we investigated the prolonged effect of hormetic heat stress on the transcriptome of worms and found that the canonical heat shock response is followed by a profound transcriptional reprogramming in the post-stress period. This reprogramming relies on the endoribonuclease ENDU-2 but not the heat shock factor 1. ENDU-2 co-localizes with chromatin and interacts with RNA polymerase II, enabling specific regulation of transcription after the stress period. Failure to activate the post-stress response does not affect the resistance of animals to heat shock but eliminates the beneficial effects of hormetic heat stress. In summary, our work discovers that the RNA-binding protein ENDU-2 mediates the long-term impacts of transient heat stress via reprogramming transcriptome after stress exposure.

Obesity, a key contributor to metabolic disorders, necessitates an in-depth understanding of its pathogenesis and prerequisites for prevention. Guangxi Bama miniature pig (GBM) offers an apt model for obesity-related studies. In this research, we used transcriptomics and 16S rRNA gene sequencing to discern the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) within intestinal (jejunum, ileum, and colon) tissues and variations in microbial communities in intestinal contents of GBM subjected to normal diets (ND) and high-fat, high-carbohydrate diets (HFHCD). After a feeding duration of 26 weeks, the HFHCD-fed experimental group demonstrated notable increases in backfat thickness, BMI, abnormal blood glucose metabolism, and blood lipid levels alongside the escalated serum expression of pro-inflammatory factors and a marked decline in intestinal health status when compared to the ND group. Transcriptomic analysis revealed a total of 1669 DEGs, of which 27 had similar differences in three intestinal segments across different groups, including five immune related genes: COL6A6, CYP1A1, EIF2AK2, NMI, and LGALS3B. Further, we found significant changes in the microbiota composition, with a significant decrease in beneficial bacterial populations within the HFHCD group. Finally, the results of integrated analysis of microbial diversity with transcriptomics show a positive link between certain microbial abundance (Solibacillus, norank_f__Saccharimonadaceae, Candidatus_Saccharimonas, and unclassified_f__Butyricicoccaceae) and changes in gene expression (COL6A6 and NMI). Overall, HFHCD appears to co-contribute to the initiation and progression of obesity in GBM by aggravating inflammatory responses, disrupting immune homeostasis, and creating imbalances in intestinal flora.

Hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsy (HNPP) is characterized by acute, painless and recurrent mononeuropathies. Genetic testing shows PMP22 gene deletion of chromosome 17p11.2 can provide evidence for the diagnosis of HNPP. Reports on tibial neuropathy as the main manifestation of HNPP are very rare. We report a 14-year-old girl who was admitted to our hospital due to plantar foot numbness and plantar flexion weakness of her left foot. The patient had a history of lateral dorsal numbness and right foot drop when she was 3 years old. Clinical symptoms, and neurological examination demonstrated tibial neuropathy. Electromyography showed extensive peripheral nerve, including median nerve, ulnar nerve, tibial nerve and peroneal nerve, were involved. The diagnosis of HNPP was confirmed by genetic testing which disclosed a deletion of PMP22 gene. She was completely asymptomatic in one month after neurotrophic drug treatments.

Abstract Background Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic idiopathic disease characterized by inflammation-related epithelial barrier damage in the intestinal tract. Helminth infection reduces autoimmune disease symptoms through regulation of inflammatory responses based on hygiene theory. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Methods BALB/c mice were infected with microcysts of E. granulosus sensu stricto and drank water containing 3.5% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) at the 100th day post-infection. After 7 days of drinking DSS, the mouse body weight change and disease activity index (DAI) were recorded every day, and colon length and histological score were evaluated after sacrifice. After injection with antigen B (AgB), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and Fizz1 expression and F4/80+CD11c+ M1 and F4/80+CD206+ M2 in the peritoneal cells and colon tissues were analysed by qPCR and flow cytometry, respectively. Gut microbiota were profiled by 16S rRNA sequencing of the mouse faecal samples. For in vitro assay, RAW264.7 macrophages were cultured in medium containing AgB before induction by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Then, NO in the supernatant was measured, and the expression of cytokine genes associated with macrophages were determined by qRT-PCR. Hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE) is caused by the metacestode of Echinococcus multilocularis, which shows characteristics of malignant tumors with high mortality. However, traditional diagnostic imaging methods are still not sufficient for the recognition of HAE microlesions in the early stages. Near-infrared-II (900–1700 nm, NIR-II) fluorescence microscopic imaging (NIR-II-FMI) has shown great potential for biomedical detection. A novel type of negative target imaging method based on NIR-II-FMI with the assistance of indocyanine green (ICG) was explored. Then, NIR-II-FMI was applied to the early detection of HAE for the first time. The negative targeting NIR-II fluorescence imaging of HAE-infected mice at different stages with the assistance of ICG under 808 nm of laser irradiation was obtained. Especially, HAE microlesions at the early stage were detected clearly. Moreover, clear intrahepatic angiography was achieved under the same NIR-II-FMI system.

BackgroundTMEM59L is a newly discovered transmembrane protein; its functions in cancer remain unknown. This study was designed to reveal the prognostic value and the functional role of TMEM59L in cancer.MethodsThe gene expression profiles, methylation data, and corresponding clinical data of TMEM59L were retrieved from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Genotype-Tissue Expression database. Survival analysis was employed to calculate the pan-cancer prognostic value of TMEM59L. The correlation between TMEM59L expression and tumor immune microenvironment, as well as DNA methylation dynamics and genomic heterogeneity across cancers were assessed based on data from TCGA.ResultsOur findings revealed that distinct differences of TMEM59L mRNA expression were observed in different cancer types and that higher TMEM59L expression was observed in the advanced pathological stage and associated with worse prognosis in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma, bladder urothelial carcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, and kidney renal clear cell carcinoma. Pathway analysis indicated that TMEM59L exerted a key influence in cancer development and in immune- and cancer-associated pathways such as epithelial–mesenchymal transition and TGF-β signaling. Moreover, correlation analysis hinted at a negative correlation of TMEM59L expression with CD8 T cells, activated CD4 T cells, and several immunomodulators, including IDO1, TIGIT, PD-L1, CTLA-4, and BTLA in various cancers. Survival analysis indicated that the hypermethylation of TMEM59L gene was associated with longer survival times. A significant correlation was also observed between TMEM59L expression and immunophenoscore, homologous recombination deficiency, loss of heterozygosity, tumor stemness score, and neoantigens in various cancers. Importantly, we also identified numerous potential agents that may target TMEM59L.ConclusionOur study revealed the prognostic value as well as the genomic and immunological characteristics of TMEM59L in cancers, highlighting the promising potential for TMEM59L as a prognostic cancer biomarker and a therapeutic target.

Abstract Background Cystic and alveolar echinococcosis caused by the tapeworms Echinococcus granulosus sensu stricto (s.s.) and E. multilocularis, respectively, are important zoonotic diseases. Protease inhibitors are crucial for the survival of both Echinococcus spp. Kunitz-type inhibitors play a regulatory role in the control of protease activity. In this study,we identified Kunitz-type domain protease inhibitors(KDPIs) present in the genomes of these two tapeworms and analyzed the gene sequences using computational, structural bioinformatics and phylogenetic approaches to evaluate the evolutionary relationships of these genes. Hi-seq transcriptome analysis showed that E. granulosus s.s. KDPIs were differentially expressed in the different developmental stages. We validated some of the genes expressed in adult worm, protoscolex and cyst germinal membrane of E. granulosus s.s. and E. multilocularis by quantitative PCR. Results A total of 19 genes from E. multilocularis and 23 genes from E. granulosus s.s. were predicted to be KDPIs with the most containing a single Kunitz-domain. A maximum likelihood method phylogenetic tree indicated that the E. granulosus s.s. and E. multilocularis Kunitz domain peptides were divided into three branches containing 9 clusters. The ratio of positively charged residues and neutral residues are different between E. multilocularis and E. granulosus s.s. KDPIs. We also found that E. multilocularis had higher percentage of sequences containing signal peptides (17/19, 89.47%) than that of E. granulosus s.s. (14/23, 60.87%). Transcript analysis showed all the E. granulosus s.s. KDPI genes were expressed differentially in four developmental stages of the worm. Transcription analysis showed that 9 KDPIs (including EG_07244,EGR_08716 and EGR_10096) were highly upregulated in adult worm, and 2 KDPIs (EG_09268 and EG_09490) were highly expressed in the cyst germinal membrane. Quantitative gene expression analysis(qPCR) of four genes confirmed the expression of these genes. EGR_08716 and its homologous gene (EmuJ_001137000) were highly and specifically expressed in adult worms of the two worms. Conclusions A total 19 and 23 KDPIs were identified in the genomes of E. multilocularis and E. granulosus s.s. , respectively. The differential expression of these KDPIs in different stages may indicate their different roles in the different hosts. The difference in characterization of KDPIs may be associated with the different pathology of metacestode stage of these two parasites.

With the rapid development of integrated circuit production technology, the scale of FPGA circuits has expanded to billions of gates. The complexity of the internal resource structures in the FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) is continually increasing, and there is an increasing possibility of various faults in these circuits, especially in interconnect resources. These occupy more than 80% of a chip’s area and have the highest fault rate. To ensure the reliability of the FPGAs, it is very important to perform high-coverage testing on the interconnect resources within them. This article uses AMD Xilinx’s Kintex-7 series FPGA as the research object and proposes a deep-priority algorithm based on graph-based models and improved priority algorithms to intelligently wire the FPGA interconnected resources. The routing results were produced using a configuration script written in the XDL language, and the FPGA configuration and testing were conducted accordingly. This approach achieved a high coverage and intelligent testing for the interconnect resources in the FPGAs.

This study aimed to clarify the role of Orosomucoid 1 (ORM1) in the development and therapy resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The mRNA expression level of ORM1 was analyzed via integrative analysis of Gene Express Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets. The protein expression level of ORM1 in our cohort was determined using immunohistochemistry. Correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationship between ORM1 expression and clinical parameters. The Cell Counting Kit-8 assay was used to clarify the role of ORM1 in HCC malignant behaviors, including cell growth and sorafenib sensitivity, in vitro. The results indicated that ORM1 was significantly downregulated in the hepatic cancer cells compared to that in the non-cancerous cells. However, it was upregulated in microvascular invasion samples, especially in the cancer embolus compared to that in the surrounding tumor cells. Though Kaplan-Meier analysis did not show an association of ORM1 expression with the overall survival rates of HCC patients, univariate analysis indicated that ORM1 expression was highly correlated with tumor grade and stage. An in vitro assay also revealed that downregulation of ORM1 led to the suppression of tumor growth and enhancement of sorafenib sensitivity without epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) alteration, which was consistent with our bioinformatic analysis. Hence, ORM1 played a key role in HCC tumorigenesis and may serve as a potential target for the development of therapeutics against HCC in the future.

Abstract Background Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a life-threatening zoonosis caused by the larval form of Echinococcus granulosus tapeworm. Our previous study showed that an approved drug pyronaridine (PND) is highly effective against CE, both in vitro and in an animal model. To identify possible target genes, transcriptome analysis was performed with E. granulosus sensu stricto protoscoleces treated with PND. Results A total of 1,321 genes were differentially expressed in protoscoleces treated with PND, including 541 upregulated and 780 downregulated genes. Gene ontology and KEGG analyses revealed that the spliceosome, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway and ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters were the top three enriched pathways. Western blot analysis showed that PND treatment resulted in a dose-dependent increase in protein expression levels of EgMKK1 (MKK3/6-like) and EgMKK2 (MEK1/2-like), two members of MAPK cascades. Interestingly, several heat shock protein (HSP) genes were greatly downregulated including stress-inducible HSPs and their constitutive cognates, and some of them belong to Echinococcus-specific expansion of HSP70. Conclusions PND has a great impact on the spliceosome, MAPK pathway and ABC transporters, which may underline the mechanisms by which PND kills E. granulosus protoscoleces. In addition, PND downregulates HSPs expression, suggesting a close relationship between the drug and HSPs.

Abstract Background To investigate long-chain noncoding TM4SF1-AS1 in gastric cancer (GC) tissues and cells. Methods TM4SF1-AS1 in 40 GC tissues and adjacent tissues was detected and compared using real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR). TM4SF1-AS1 in MKN28 and SGC7901 GC cells was downregulated using small interfering RNA (shRNA). The cells were grouped into an interference group (shTM4SF1-AS1 group) and a control group (shControl group). MTT and Transwell tests were applied to determine the proliferation and invasion of the cells in both groups, and flow cytometry was performed to assess the apoptosis rate in the two groups. Western blotting was performed to determine changes in key proteins in cells during the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and in the TM4SF1 and PI3K-AKT signalling pathways in response to the downregulation of TM4SF1-AS1. Identifying and verifying appropriate biomarkers is instrumental in improving the prediction of early-stage pig production performance while reducing the cost of breeding and production. The main factor that affects the production cost and environmental protection cost of the pig industry is the feed efficiency of pigs. This study aimed to detect the differentially expressed proteins in the early blood index determination serum between high-feed efficiency and low-feed efficiency pigs and to provide a basis for further identification of biomarkers using the isobaric tandem mass tag and parallel reaction monitoring approach. In total, 350 (age, 90 ± 2 d; body weight, 41.20 ± 4.60 kg) purebred Yorkshire pigs were included in the study, and their serum samples were obtained during the early blood index determination. The pigs were then arranged based on their feed efficiency; 24 pigs with extreme phenotypes were grouped as high-feed efficiency and low-feed efficiency, with 12 pigs in each group. A total of 1364 proteins were found in the serum, and 137 of them showed differential expression between the groups with high- and low-feed efficiency, with 44 of them being upregulated and 93 being downregulated. PRM (parallel reaction monitoring) was used to verify 10 randomly chosen differentially expressed proteins. The proteins that were differentially expressed were shown to be involved in nine pathways, including the immune system, digestive system, human diseases, metabolism, cellular processing, and genetic information processing, according to the KEGG and GO analyses. Moreover, all of the proteins enriched in the immune system were downregulated in the high-feed efficiency pigs, suggesting that a higher immune level may not be conducive to improving feed efficiency in pigs. This study provides insights into the important feed efficiency proteins and pathways in pigs, promoting the further development of protein biomarkers for predicting and improving porcine feed efficiency.

The epigenetic regulation mechanism of porcine skeletal muscle development relies on the openness of chromatin and is also precisely regulated by transcriptional machinery. However, fewer studies have exploited the temporal changes in gene expression and the landscape of accessible chromatin to reveal the underlying molecular mechanisms controlling muscle development. To address this, skeletal muscle biopsy samples were taken from Landrace pigs at days 0 (D0), 60 (D60), 120 (D120), and 180 (D180) after birth and were then analyzed using RNA-seq and ATAC-seq. The RNA-seq analysis identified 8554 effective differential genes, among which ACBD7, TMEM220, and ATP1A2 were identified as key genes related to the development of porcine skeletal muscle. Some potential cis-regulatory elements identified by ATAC-seq analysis contain binding sites for many transcription factors, including SP1 and EGR1, which are also the predicted transcription factors regulating the expression of ACBD7 genes. Moreover, the omics analyses revealed regulatory regions that become ectopically active after birth during porcine skeletal muscle development after birth and identified 151,245, 53,435, 30,494, and 40,911 peaks. The enriched functional elements are related to the cell cycle, muscle development, and lipid metabolism. In summary, comprehensive high-resolution gene expression maps were developed for the transcriptome and accessible chromatin during postnatal skeletal muscle development in pigs.

Litter size and teat number are economically important traits in the porcine industry. However, the genetic mechanisms influencing these traits remain unknown. In this study, we analyzed the genetic basis of litter size and teat number in Bama Xiang pigs and evaluated the genomic inbreeding coefficients of this breed. We conducted a genome-wide association study to identify runs of homozygosity (ROH), and copy number variation (CNV) using the novel Illumina PorcineSNP50 BeadChip array in Bama Xiang pigs and annotated the related genes in significant single nucleotide polymorphisms and common copy number variation region (CCNVR). We calculated the ROH-based genomic inbreeding coefficients (FROH) and the Spearman coefficient between FROH and reproduction traits. We completed a mixed linear model association analysis to identify the effect of high-frequency copy number variation (HCNVR; over 5%) on Bama Xiang pig reproductive traits using TASSEL software. Across eight chromosomes, we identified 29 significant single nucleotide polymorphisms, and 12 genes were considered important candidates for litter-size traits based on their vital roles in sperm structure, spermatogenesis, sperm function, ovarian or follicular function, and male/female infertility. We identified 9,322 ROHs; the litter-size traits had a significant negative correlation to FROH. A total of 3,317 CNVs, 24 CCNVR, and 50 HCNVR were identified using cnvPartition and PennCNV. Eleven genes related to reproduction were identified in CCNVRs, including seven genes related to the testis and sperm function in CCNVR1 (chr1 from 311585283 to 315307620). Two candidate genes (NEURL1 and SH3PXD2A) related to reproduction traits were identified in HCNVR34. The result suggests that these genes may improve the litter size of Bama Xiang by marker-assisted selection. However, attention should be paid to deter inbreeding in Bama Xiang pigs to conserve their genetic diversity.

Fluorescent silver coordination polymer nanoparticles (Ag-TPA CPNs) were synthesized using a combination of terephthalic acid (TPA) and silver nitrate via an ultrarapid microwave-assisted strategy within 15 min. The Ag-TPA CPNs displayed a high fluorescent quantum yield (QY = 20.19%) and large Stokes shift (~200 nm), with two emission peaks at 490 nm and 520 nm under an excitation wavelength of 320 nm. A fluorescent “turn-off” method using fluorescent Ag-TPA CPNs was applied to detect the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity on the basis of the ALP-catalyzed hydrolysis of ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (AA2P) to ascorbic acid (AA), and the AA product triggered the reduction of Ag+ ions into silver nanoparticles. The fluorescent lifetime of Ag-TPA CPNs decreased from 3.93 ms to 3.80 ms after the addition of ALP, which suggests that this fluorescent “turn-off” detection of ALP activity is a dynamic quenching process. The fluorescent intensity had a linear relationship with the concentration of ALP in the range of 0.2–12 mU/mL (r = 0.991) and with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.07 mU/mL. It showed high selectivity in ALP detection towards metal ions and amino acids, as well as other enzymes such as horseradish peroxidase, glucose oxidase, tyrosinase, trypsin, lysozyme, and superoxides. When it was applied for the fluorescent “turn-off” detection of ALP activity in serum samples, mean recovery levels ranging from 99.5% to 101.2% were obtained, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) lower than 4% accuracy. Therefore, it is an efficient and accurate tool for analyzing ALP levels in biosamples.

Cystic echinococcosis (CE), caused by the metacestode Echinococcus granulosus sensu stricto (s.s.), is an important zoonotic parasite, endemic in the Altai region of China. It is a serious human health risk and causes livestock losses. To evaluate the prevalence, genetic variation, and population structure of CE, 2898 sheep and 703 cattle were examined from October 2019 to mid-February 2020 in the Altai region (Altai, Habahe, Fuhai, and Buerjin). Sheep had an infection rate of 4.52% (131/2898) and cattle had an infection rate of 4.84% (34/703). In total, 180 cyst isolates were obtained, including 131 sheep, 34 cattle, and 15 from CE human patients. The cysts were investigated using mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit 1 (cox1). Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) results showed that, among the two genotypes of E. granulosus s.s., there were 22 different haplotypes (Haps). Phylogenetic analysis and parsimony network indicated that seventeen (77.27%) Haps belonged to the sheep strain (G1 genotype) and five Haps (22.73%) belonged to the buffalo strain (G3 genotype). Hap3 was the most common haplotype (65.00%, 112/180), which belongs to the G1 genotype. Hap18–Hap22 were found in human samples, indicating that sheep and cattle reservoirs of human CE. Molecular diversity indices revealed the high levels of haplotype diversity and relatively low levels of nucleotide diversity. Tajima’s D and Fu’s Fs tests displayed that the Altai population had a significant deviation from neutrality. Based on pairwise fixation index (Fst) values, a low level of genetic differentiation was found between the populations of E. granulosus s.s. isolated from different regions. The present survey findings represent an epidemiological survey of CE in the Altai region where there were two genotypes simultaneously and will provide more information on the genetic structure of E. granulosus s.s. within this region.

The design of nanostructured catalysts plays a key role in the electrocatalytic redox reaction performances. Here, authors prepared uniform and small-sized high-entropy alloy PtNiFeCoCu nanoparticles that showed improved activities for H2 evolution methanol oxidation reactions.

Abstract Objective Our study examined the association between molecular features and clinical results of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients, aiming to explore the genomic determinants of the recurrence and prognosis of PDAC after surgical removal. Methods This retrospective study analyzed 181 PDAC patients who received pancreatectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy, with 67 patients in the training set. An internal validation set of 48 patients and an external validation set of 66 patients were used to validate the result. Comprehensive genomic profiling was performed on formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) tumor specimens to determine genomic features using the designed cancer‐related gene panel based on next‐generation sequencing (NGS). Results Significant differences were identified between the late recurrence (LR) group and early recurrence (ER) group in tumor copy number instability (CNI) levels. Next, the utility of low CNI (the middle and lowest tertile) with regard to predicting LR was confirmed in the training, internal, and external validation sets. Further univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that CNI was an independent predictive and prognostic biomarker, and had higher predictive accuracy for LR than CA19‐9 level, pathological stage, tumor size, and age. In addition, CNI combined with lymph node (LN) metastasis status could provide a more accurate model for predicting LR of PDAC. Conclusion We discovered and validated the association between CNI and clinical outcome in 181 patients with resectable PDAC, demonstrating the utility of lower tumor CNI levels as biomarkers of postoperative LR and favorable prognosis. Moreover, the combination of CNI and LN metastasis status elevated the predictive accuracy and illuminated strategies for patient stratification.

Abstract Improving the predication efficiency of porcine production performance at early stage will contribute to reducing the breeding and production costs. The intestinal microbiota had received plenty of attention in recent years due to their influence on host health and performance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the fecal microbiota at early growth period and porcine feed efficiency (FE) under a commercial feeding environment. Ninety-one pigs were reordered according to the residual feed intake (RFI) values between day 90 on test and day 160 off test, 9 lowest RFI pigs and 9 highest RFI pigs were selected as the LRFI group and the HRFI group, respectively. Fecal samples from pigs in the early grower phase (day 80) were performed for microbial diversity, composition, and predicted functionality by using 16S rRNA sequencing. The results showed that no significant differences in microbial alpha diversity were observed between two RFI groups, whereas, some RFI-associated compositional differences were revealed. In particular, the microbiota of the LRFI group (more feed-efficient) had significantly higher levels of some members of Clostridiales and Bacteroidales (e.g., g_1_68 and g_norank_f_p_2534_18B5), which may promoted FE through protecting gut barrier function, compared with those of the HRFI pigs. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways analysis found that the LRFI pigs were likely have microbiota with higher levels of amino acid metabolism. Moreover, redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that litter size, parity, and date of birth had significant effects on the bacterial community structure. These results improved our knowledge of the porcine early-life fecal microbiota and its potential link underlying RFI, which would be useful for future development of microbial biomarkers for predicting and improving porcine FE as well as investigation of targets for dietary strategies.

Summary: Pig has been proved to be a valuable large animal model used for research on diabetic disease. However, their translational value is limited given their distinct anatomy and physiology. For the last 30 years, we have been developing a laboratory Asian miniature pig inbred line (Bama miniature pig [BM]) from the primitive Bama xiang pig via long-term selective inbreeding. Here, we assembled a BM reference genome at full chromosome-scale resolution with a total length of 2.49 Gb. Comparative and evolutionary genomic analyses identified numerous variations between the BM and commercial pig (Duroc), particularly those in the genetic loci associated with the features advantageous to diabetes studies. Resequencing analyses revealed many differentiated gene loci associated with inbreeding and other selective forces. A dopamine-functionalized carbon nanodot (C-dots) ratiometric fluorescence probe for hypochlorite (ClO−) detection is reported. Fluorescent C-dots with maximal emission at 420 nm are synthesized via the hydrothermal synthesis of 3-hydroxyphenylboric acid at 160 °C for 8 h. After modified with dopamine for 5 min, the obtained dopamine-functionalized C-dots exhibit two maximal fluorescence emissions at 420 nm and 460 nm. Fluorescent intensity at 460 nm gets quenched with the addition of ClO− and fluorescent intensity at 420 nm is almost unaffected. Therefore dopamine-functionalized C-dots can be used as ratiometric fluorescence probe for highly sensitive detection of ClO−. The ratio of fluorescent intensity at 460 nm and 420 nm (I460nm/I420nm) has a linear relationship with the concentration of ClO− from 2 μM to 60 μM and limit of detection (LOD) of 0.6 μM. It shows high selectivity for the detection of ClO− toward other anions (SO42−, Cl−, NO3−, S2−, CO32−), metal ions (Mg2+, Ba2+, Ag+, Fe3+, Ca2+, Na+, Cr6+, Cr3+, Hg+), or other substances such as H2O2, glutamate, cysteine, and citric acid. When it is utilized in ClO− detection in tap water, the average recoveries are from 95.7% to 103.2% with the relative standard deviations (RSDs) lower than 5%.

Chromatin remodeling complexes play important roles in various DNA metabolism processes, including DNA damage repair. BRG1 is the core subunit of the SWI/SNF complex, which plays critical roles in cell cycle regulation, cell development, cell differentiation, and tumorigenesis. In the present study, we report that BRG1 depletion increased the percentage of apoptotic cells in etoposide-treated cells. Moreover, western blotting and immunofluorescence data showed that BRG1 depletion decreased H2AX phosphorylation and caused defective phosphorylated histone H2AX (γH2AX) clearance. Furthermore, we found that in both SW13 and U2OS cells, BRG1 expression could increase the sensitivity of genomic DNA to micrococcal nuclease (MNase) and facilitate chromatin relaxation around DNA damage sites. Thus, the results provide evidence that BRG1 plays an important role in early DNA damage repair by remodeling the chromatin structure near DNA damage sites.

Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a life-threatening disease in humans caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus multilocularis. The tapeworm is transmitted between small mammals and dogs/foxes in the Northern Hemisphere. In this study 286 AE cases were reported from eight counties and one city in Yili Prefecture, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, the People's Republic of China from 1989 to 2015 with an annual incidence (AI) of 0.41/100,000. Among the patients, 73.08% were diagnosed in the last 11 years. Four counties in the high mountainous areas showed higher AI (0.51-1.22 cases/100,000 residents) than the four counties in low level areas (0.19-0.29/100,000 residents). The AI of AE in Mongolian (2.06/100,000 residents) and Kazak (0.93/100,000 residents) ethnic groups was higher than the incidence in other ethnic groups indicating sheep-farming is a risk for infection given this activity is mainly practiced by these two groups in the prefecture. A total of 1411 small mammals were captured with 9.14% infected with E. multilocularis metacestodes. Microtus obscurus was the dominant species in the mountain pasture areas with 15.01% of the voles infected, whereas Mus musculus and Apodemus sylvaticus were the dominant small mammals in the low altitude areas. Only 0.40% of A. sylvaticus were infected with E. multilocularis. PCR amplification and sequencing analysis of the mitochondrial cox1 gene showed that E. multilocularis DNA sequences from the small mammals were identical to isolates of local human AE cases. The overall results show that Yili Prefecture is a highly endemic area for AE and that the high-altitude pasture areas favorable for M. obscurus may play an important role in its transmission in this region.

How to choose suppliers scientifically is an important part of strategic decision-making management of enterprises. Expert evaluation is subjective and uncontrollable; sometimes, there exists biased evaluation, which will lead to controversial or unfair results in supplier selection. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a novel method that employs machine learning to learn the credibility of expert from historical data, which is converted to weights in evaluation process. We first use the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier to classify the historical evaluation data of experts and calculate the experts’ evaluation credibility, then determine the weights of the evaluation experts, finally assemble the weighted evaluation results, and get a preference order of choosing suppliers. The main contribution of this method is that it overcomes the shortcomings of multiple conversions and large loss on evaluation information, maintains the initial evaluation information to the maximum extent, and improves the credibility of evaluation results and the fairness and scientificity of supplier selection. The results show that it is feasible to classify the past evaluation data of the evaluation experts by the SVM classification model, and the expert weights determined on the basis of the evaluation credibility of experts are adjustable.

Self-healing cementitious materials are a promising means for ensuring sustainable concrete infrastructure and promoting long-term service lives. To obtain microcapsules that are versatile in varying environments, in this study, absorbing microcapsules with calcium alginate as the shell and epoxy resin as the core were prepared. The absorbing microcapsules exhibit self-healing and can reduce the shrinkage of cementitious materials. Volume changes of the microcapsules in the hardened paste with increasing hydration age were observed using three-dimensional X-ray computed tomography. In the hardened cement paste with a water-cement ratio of 0.29, the absorption of the microcapsules lasted for several days, and the release of water lasted for 28 days. The absorption of microcapsules affected the fluidity of cement paste, and it was significantly weakened and delayed due to the lower absorption rate. The addition of absorbing microcapsules significantly reduced the autogenous and drying shrinkage of mortars. For microcapsules with a core content of 55% added at 3.5% of cement weight, autogenous shrinkage was almost eliminated. Most importantly, the addition of absorbing microcapsules could achieve a certain degree of recovery of compressive strength as well as satisfactory recovery of impermeability in dry and wet environments.

Background: Cystic echinococcosis (CE), a condition caused by the larval stage of the dog tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus sensu stricto, is a globally distributed zoonotic disease. Current treatment options for CE are limited, and an effective and safe anti-echinococcal drug is urgently required. Methods: Drug repurposing strategy was employed to identify new therapeutic agents against echinococcal cysts. An in vitro protoscolicidal assay along with in vivo murine models was applied in the drug screening. A microinjection procedure was employed to mimic the clinical PAIR (puncture, aspiration, injection and reaspiration) technique to evaluate the potential application of the candidate drug in clinical practice. Findings: We repurposed pyronaridine, an approved antimalarial drug, for the treatment of CE. Following a three-dose intraperitoneal regimen (57 mg/kg, q.d. for 3 days), pyronaridine caused 100% cyst mortality. Oral administration of pyronaridine at 57 mg/kg, q.d. for 30 days significantly reduced the parasitic burden in the pre-infected mice compared with albendazole group (p < 0.001). Using a microinjection of drug into cysts, pyronaridine (200 μM) showed highly effective in term of inhibition of cyst growth (p < 0.05, compared with saline group). Pharmacokinetic analysis revealed that pyronaridine was highly distributed in the liver and lungs, the most affected organs of CE. Function analysis showed that pyronaridine inhibited the activity of topoisomerase I (IC50 = 209.7 ± 1.1 μM). In addition, classical apoptotic hallmarks, including DNA fragmentation and caspase activation, were triggered. Interpretation: Given its approved clinical safety, the repurposing of pyronaridine offers a rapidly translational option for treating CE including PAIR. Abstract Background Primary angiosarcoma of the kidney is a rare and aggressive malignant tumor presenting with a recognizable vascular differentiation. Its prognosis is fatal and the pathogenesis remains unclear. Renal angiomyolipoma is a relatively infrequent renal cortical neoplasm and is composed of variable proportions of adipose tissue, spindle cells, epithelioid smooth muscle cells and abnormal thick-walled blood vessels. Case presentation Here, we reported a case in which a 64-year-old woman presenting with the chief complaint of a progressively enlarged mass in the left abdomen. Abdominal computed tomography confirmed presence of a tumor measuring 18 cm × 11 cm in the left posterior renal fascia. Microscopic examination and immunohistochemical staining confirmed co-existence of angiomyolipoma and angiosarcoma. Furthermore, the two components interspersed with each other and there were transitional zones between them. Conclusions In this case, we described for the first time a primary renal angiosarcoma possibly arising in a pre-existing angiomyolipoma of the kidney.

Summary: Autophagy is stimulated by stress conditions and needs to be precisely tuned to ensure cellular homeostasis and organismal development and health. The kinase mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) forms the enzymatic core of the highly conserved mTOR complexes mTORC1 and mTORC2. mTORC1 is a key inhibitor of autophagy, yet the function of mTORC2 in autophagy is controversial. We here show that inactivation of mTORC2 and its direct target serum- and glucocorticoid-inducible kinase 1 (SGK-1) potently induces autophagy and the autophagic degradation of mitochondria in C. elegans. Enhanced autophagy in mTORC2- or SGK-1-deficient animals contributes to their developmental and reproductive defects and is independent of the canonical SGK-1 effector DAF-16/FOXO. Importantly, we find that inactivation of mTORC2-SGK-1 signaling impairs mitochondrial homeostasis and triggers an increased release of mitochondria-derived reactive oxygen species (mtROS) to induce autophagy. Thus, mitochondrial stress couples reduced mTORC2 activity to enhanced autophagic turnover. : The multiprotein complex mTORC2 is a central regulator of development and metabolism. Aspernig et al. implicate C. elegans mTORC2 and its effector SGK-1 in mitochondrial homeostasis and report that an increased release of mitochondria-derived reactive oxygen species induces autophagy in mTORC2/SGK-1-deficient animals. The follicular variant of peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified, is very rare. Primary epiglottic follicular variant of peripheral T-cell lymphoma is extremely rare in clinical practice. Here, we report the first case of a follicular variant of peripheral T-cell lymphoma not otherwise specified in a 44-year-old Chinese man, who presented with a tumor in the middle of the epiglottis tongue surface. Microscopically, the tumor had a vague nodular growth pattern and the morphology of the nodules was different from each other at low power. Atypical lymphoid cells were medium to large in size and had round nuclei, with an irregular nuclear membrane, distinct nucleoli, and rapid mitotic activity. Plasma cells were found surrounding the nodules. The tumor cells were positive for follicular helper T-cell markers (CD10, PD-1, CXCL13, and BCL-6). The EBER was negative by in situ hybridization. Polymerase chain reaction-based analysis showed monoclonal rearrangements of TCRβ, TCRγ, and polyclonal rearrangements of IgH, IgK, and IgL. The clinical and imaging features and the prognostic factors of FV PTCL-NOS remain poorly understood. Thus, investigation of more cases and longer follow-up is necessary to understand the disease and to identify the best treatment to improve prognosis.

Background/Aims: Recent evidence has indicated the crucial regulatory roles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in tumour biology. In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), aberrant expression of lncRNAs plays an essential role in HCC tumourigenesis. However, the potential roles and regulatory mechanisms of the novel human lncRNA, Linc-USP16, in HCC are unclear. Methods: To investigate the function of Linc-USP16 in HCC, we first analysed the expression levels of Linc-USP16 in HCC patient tissues and cell lines via q-RT-PCR and established overexpressed or knockdown HCC cell lines. Results: Here, we found that Linc-USP16 expression was significantly down-regulated in HCC patient tissues and cell lines. Further functional experiments suggested that Linc-USP16 could directly increase PTEN expression by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) for miR-21 and miR-590-5p. These interactions led to repression of AKT pathway and inhibition of HCC cell proliferation and migration. Conclusion: Thus, our data showed that Linc-USP16, as a tumour suppressor, plays an important role in HCC pathogenesis and provides a new therapeutic strategy for HCC treatment.

We propose a set of family-based burden and kernel tests for censored traits (FamBAC and FamKAC). Here, censored traits refer to time-to-event outcomes, for instance, age-at-onset of a disease. To model censored traits in family-based designs, we used the frailty model, which incorporated not only fixed genetic effects of rare variants in a region of interest but also random polygenic effects shared within families. We first partitioned genotype scores of rare variants into orthogonal between- and within-family components, and then derived their corresponding efficient score statistics from the frailty model. Finally, FamBAC and FamKAC were constructed by aggregating the weighted efficient scores of the within-family components across rare variants and subjects. FamBAC collapsed rare variants within subject first to form a burden test that followed a chi-squared distribution; whereas FamKAC was a variant component test following a mixture of chi-squared distributions. For FamKAC, p-values can be computed by permutation tests or for computational efficiency by approximation methods. Through simulation studies, we showed that type I error was correctly controlled by FamBAC for various variant weighting schemes (0.0371 to 0.0527). However, FamKAC type I error rates based on approximation methods were deflated (max 0.0376) but improved by permutation tests. Our simulations also demonstrated that burden test FamBAC had higher power than kernel test FamKAC when high proportion (e.g. ≥ 80%) of causal variants had effects in the same direction. In contrast, when the effects of causal variants on the censored trait were in mixed directions, FamKAC outperformed FamBAC and had comparable or higher power than an existing method, RVFam. Our proposed framework has the flexibility to accommodate general nuclear families, and can be used to analyze sequence data for censored traits such as age-at-onset of a complex disease of interest.

Instruments such as Gleeble-3500 thermal simulated test machine, optical microscope and Blowell hardness gauge were adopted in the experiment to conduct an intensive research on the dynamic continuous cooling transformation (CCT) law, the microstructure characteristics and the hardness changing law of Ti-IF steel, to measure the dynamic CCT curve and to analyze the influence of the pass deformation in different temperature ranges on the cooling transformation of Ti-IF steel, theoretically supporting the practical development of the rolling technology.

Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a chronic infectious disease caused by Echinococcus granulosus. To confirm whether the infection impacts on the gut microbiota, we established a mouse model of E. granulosus infection in this study whereby BALB/c mice were infected with micro-cysts of E. granulosus. After 4 months of infection, fecal samples were collected for high-throughput sequencing of the hypervariable regions of the 16S rRNA gene. Sequence analysis revealed a total of 13,353 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) with only 40.6% of the OTUs having genera reference information and 101 of the OTUs were significantly increased in infected mice. Bioinformatics analysis showed that the common core microbiota were not significantly changed at family level. However, two genera (Eisenbergiella and Parabacteroides) were enriched in the infected mice (PAMOV A < 0.05) at genus level. Functional analysis indicated that seven pathways were altered in the E. granulosus Infection Group compared with the Uninfected Group. Spearman correlation analysis showed strong correlations of IgG, IgG1 and IgG2a with nine major genera. E. granulosus cyst infection may change the gut microbiota which may be associated with metabolic pathways.

Real-time multimedia transmission from smart physical terminals usually meets the challenges of quality and security problems in cyber physical social systems, such as in the Internet of things systems, social network, and industrial Internet of things. The quality of real-time video transmission is often disturbed by the instability of cyber-physical-social systems, and the security of real-time video can be compromised if fake contents are embedded into the video during the transmission. According to the video coding information and the conditions of cyber-physical-social systems like mobile network, we design a sliding window scheme to solve the out-of-order and loss problems and thus improve the quality of real-time video. In the scheme, the key video frame can be retransmitted in a dynamic range of sliding window. The scheme also simplifies the process of packet sorting and can quickly complete the process of unpacking and playing of the video stream with high accuracy. To defend the attack of inserting fake video into real-time video, we also design a detection algorithm based on time-related token. The experimental results show that the proposed methods can guarantee the continuity of video stream, improve the quality of image in the mobile network and ensure the security during transmission effectively.

In acute and ongoing pain, the spontaneous oscillatory activity of electroencephalogram (EEG) has been characterized by suppression of alpha band oscillations and enhancement of gamma band oscillations. In pathological chronic pain which is more severe and common in clinic practice, it is of great interest to investigate the oscillatory activity especially at the broad gamma frequency bands. Our present study explored the resting state oscillatory activities of EEG in patients with post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) over 3 months which is a typical neuropathic pain model in clinical researches. It was found that the PHN patients showed anxiety and depression revealed by Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) examinations. Power spectrum analysis revealed that the power at gamma frequency band (from 40 to 70 Hz) of EEG was significantly higher in the PHN patients, and positively correlated with pain intensity, anxiety, and depression indexes. Further, increased gamma activity derived from the prefrontal cortex and the cerebellum were revealed by cluster-based sensor level and the beamforming source level analyses. These results suggest the enhanced gamma oscillatory activity in the prefrontal cortex and cerebellum is a characteristic marker in chronic neuropathic pain patients.

The central nervous system (CNS) controls the limb movement by modulating multiple skeletal muscles with synergistic modules and neural oscillations with different frequencies between the activated muscles. Several researchers have found intermuscular coherence existing within the synergistic muscle pairs, and pointed out that the intermuscular synchronization existed when functional forces were generated. However, few studies involved the time-varying characteristics of the intermuscular coherence in each synergy module though all activated muscles keep in a dynamic and varying process. Therefore, this study aims to explore the time-varying coherence amongst synergistic muscles during movements based on the combination of the non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) method and the time-frequency coherence (TFC) method. We applied these methods into the electromyogram (EMG) signals recorded from eight muscles involved in the sequence of the wrist movements [wrist flexion (WF), wrist flexion transmission to wrist extension (MC) and wrist extension (WE)] in 12 healthy people. The results showed three synergistic flexor pairs (FCR-PL, FCR-FDS, and PL-FDS) in the WF stage and three extensor pairs (ECU-ECR, ECU-B, and ECR-B) in both MC and WE stages. Further analysis showed intermuscular coherence between each pairwise synergistic muscles. The intermuscular coherence between the flexor muscle pairs was mainly observed in the beta band (15–35 Hz) during the WF stage, and that amongst the extensor muscle pairs was also observed in the beta band during the WE stage. However, the intermuscular coherence between the extensor muscle pairs mainly on gamma band during the MC stage. Additionally, compared to the flexor muscle pairs, the intermuscular coherence of the extensor muscle pairs were lower in the WF stage, and higher in both MC and WE stages. These results demonstrated the time-varying mechanisms of the synergistic modulation and synchronous oscillation in motor-control system. This study contributes to expanded researches for motor control.

Activation of the FOXO transcription factor DAF-16 by reduced insulin/IGF signaling (IIS) is considered to be beneficial in C. elegans due to its ability to extend lifespan and to enhance stress resistance. In the germline, cell-autonomous DAF-16 activity prevents stem cell proliferation, thus acting tumor-suppressive. In contrast, hypodermal DAF-16 causes a tumorous germline phenotype characterized by hyperproliferation of the germline stem cells and rupture of the adjacent basement membrane. Here we show that cross-talk between DAF-16 and the transforming growth factor ß (TGFß)/bone morphogenic protein (BMP) signaling pathway causes germline hyperplasia and results in disruption of the basement membrane. In addition to activating MADM/NRBP/hpo-11 gene alone, DAF-16 also directly interacts with both R-SMAD proteins SMA-2 and SMA-3 in the nucleus to regulate the expression of mTORC1 pathway. Knocking-down of BMP genes or each of the four target genes in the hypodermis was sufficient to inhibit germline proliferation, indicating a cell-non-autonomously controlled regulation of stem cell proliferation by somatic tissues. We propose the existence of two antagonistic DAF-16/FOXO functions, a cell-proliferative somatic and an anti-proliferative germline activity. Whereas germline hyperplasia under reduced IIS is inhibited by DAF-16 cell-autonomously, activation of somatic DAF-16 in the presence of active IIS promotes germline proliferation and eventually induces tumor-like germline growth. In summary, our results suggest a novel pathway crosstalk of DAF-16 and TGF-ß/BMP that can modulate mTORC1 at the transcriptional level to cause stem-cell hyperproliferation. Such cell-type specific differences may help explaining why human FOXO activity is considered to be tumor-suppressive in most contexts, but may become oncogenic, e.g. in chronic and acute myeloid leukemia.

Zr(IV) can form phosphate and Zr(IV) (–PO32−–Zr4+–) complex owing to the high affinity between Zr(IV) with phosphate. Zr(IV) can induce the aggregation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), while adenosine triphosphate(ATP) can prevent Zr(IV)-induced aggregation of AuNPs. Herein, a visual and plasmon resonance absorption (PRA)sensor for ATP have been developed using AuNPs based on the high affinity between Zr(IV)with ATP. AuNPs get aggregated in the presence of certain concentrations of Zr(IV). After the addition of ATP, ATP reacts with Zr(IV) and prevents AuNPs from aggregation, enabling the detection of ATP. Because of the fast interaction of ATP with Zr(IV), ATP can be detected with a detection limit of 0.5 μM within 2 min by the naked eye. Moreover, ATP can be detected by the PRA technique with higher sensitivity. The A520nm/A650nm values in PRA spectra increase linearly with the concentrations of ATP from 0.1 μM to 15 μM (r = 0.9945) with a detection limit of 28 nM. The proposed visual and PRA sensor exhibit good selectivity against adenosine, adenosine monophosphate, guanosine triphosphate, cytidine triphosphate and uridine triphosphate. The recoveries for the analysis of ATP in synthetic samples range from 95.3% to 102.0%. Therefore, the proposed novel sensor for ATP is promising for real-time or on-site detection of ATP.

Aptasensors based on stripping voltammetry exhibit several advantages, such as high sensitivity and multi-target detection from stripping voltammetric technology, and high selectivity from the specific binding of apamers with targets. This review comprehensively discusses the recent accomplishments in signal amplification strategies based on nanomaterials, such as metal nanoparticles, semiconductor nanoparticles, and nanocomposite materials, which are detected by stripping voltammetry after suitable dissolution. Focus will be put in discussing multiple amplification strategies that are widely applied in aptasensors for small biomolecules, proteins, disease markers, and cancer cells.
