Spectrometer miniaturization is desired for handheld and portable applications, yet nearly no miniaturized spectrometer is reported operating within terahertz (THz) waveband. Computational strategy, which can acquire incident spectral information through encoding and decoding it using optical devices and reconstruction algorithms, respectively, is widely employed in spectrometer miniaturization as artificial intelligence emerges. We demonstrate a computational miniaturized THz spectrometer, where a plasmonic filter array tailors the spectral response of a blocked-impurity-band detector. Besides, an adaptive deep-learning algorithm is proposed for spectral reconstructions with curbing the negative impact from the optical property of the filter array. Our spectrometer achieves modest spectral resolution (2.3 cm−1) compared with visible and infrared miniaturized spectrometers, outstanding sensitivity (e.g., signal-to-noise ratio, 6.4E6: 1) superior to common benchtop THz spectrometers. The combination of THz optical devices and reconstruction algorithms provides a route toward THz spectrometer miniaturization, and further extends the applicable sphere of the THz spectroscopy technique.

This study investigated how enhanced video captioning types affected comprehension and vocabulary acquisition regarding form recognition, meaning recall and meaning recognition. 158 low-intermediate Chinese EFL undergraduates were randomly assigned to English captions (EC), English captions with highlighted target words and L1 gloss (ECL1), Chinese and English captions (CEC), Chinese and English captions with highlighted target words (CECGW), and no captions (NC). For listening comprehension, results revealed the CECGW scored higher than CEC, EC and NC while the NC performed lower than other groups with statistical significance. Captioned videos and videos bilingually captioned with glossed target words aided listening comprehension. For form recognition in vocabulary tests, no statistically significant differences were detected across the caption types. ECL1 was the most effective in meaning recall and recognition. Pedagogical implications are proposed for teachers' adoption of L1 in captioned videos for learners' optimal learning.

Drought is a major stress that restricts the growth and development of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and recovery after drought is the key to coping with adversity. So, we used a meta-analysis to quantitatively evaluate the responses of winter wheat to drought stress and rewatering and investigated the differences caused by several moderators (e.g., stress intensity, treatment durations, growth stages, planting methods, and experimental areas). The results show that drought can cause many negative effects on winter wheat. However, in most cases, rewatering can offset these adverse effects. Winter wheat under short-term or mild stress was less affected, and rewatering can restore it to the control level. Net photosynthetic rate (Pn), transpiration rate (Tr), and stomatal conductance (gs) are sensitive to environmental water change. Drought reduced the quantum yield of electron transport (ΦPSII), with insignificant effects on the efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm). Additionally, the responses to drought and rewatering also varied with different growth stages. The regreening stage and the anthesis-filling stage are both critical water management periods. Rewatering after the jointing stage had no significant effect on leaf area (LA) and plant height (PH). The drought tolerance and recovery ability of field-grown wheat were better than those of pot-grown wheat. Winter wheat planted on the Loess Plateau was less affected than that on the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain and the Middle–Lower Yangtze Plain. Overall, different moderators may lead to different degrees of responsiveness of wheat to drought stress and postdrought rewatering. The meta‐analysis aims to evaluate and compare the impact of the combination of stem cells (SCs) and light‐based treatments (LBTs) on skin wound (SW) repair. Examinations comparing SCs to LBT with SCs for SW repair was among the meta‐analysis from various languages that met the inclusion criteria. Using continuous random‐effect models, the results of these investigations were examined, and the mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence intervals was computed (CIs). Seven examinations from 2012 to 2022 were recruited for the current analysis including 106 animals with SWs. Photobiomodulation therapy (PBT) plus SCs had a significantly higher wound closure rate (WCR) (MD, 9.08; 95% CI, 5.55–12.61, p < 0.001) compared to SCs in animals with SWs. However, no significant difference was found between PBT plus SCs and SCs on wound tensile strength (WTS) (MD, 2.01; 95% CI, −0.42 to 4.44, p = 0.10) in animals with SWs. The examined data revealed that PBT plus SCs had a significantly higher WCR, however, no significant difference was found in WTS compared to SCs in animals with SWs. Nevertheless, caution should be exercised while interacting with its values since all the chosen examinations were found with a low sample size and a low number of examinations were found for the comparisons studied for the meta‐analysis. High‐speed and highly sensitive infrared photodetectors are regarded as one of the most essential components in modern photonic devices and technology because of constantly emerging application scenarios. In this paper, an ultrafast and extremely low noise mid‐infrared (MIR) photodetector is reported at both room and cryogenic temperatures by leveraging the high‐mobility 2D electron gas (2DEG) at the polar CdTe/PbTe heterostructure interface. The detector simultaneously exhibits a peak detectivity of ≈4.2 × 1011 Jones with rapid response in the order of 10 ns, which is substantially superior to the state‐of‐the‐art 2DEG MIR detectors made of 2D layered materials. The ultrafast response with extremely low noise of the 2DEG photodetector is attributed to the unique band alignment at the interface. The practical infrared imaging application is further showcased using the 2DEG MIR detector by revealing the fine features of a MIR radiation target. This work highlights the promising prospect of utilizing the unique 2DEG interface in the field of high‐speed and highly sensitive MIR detection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
