Abstract

The first search for the lepton number violating decay K+→π0π−μ+e+ and lepton flavour violating decays K+→π0π+μ−e+, K+→π0π+μ+e− has been performed using a dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2016–2018. Upper limits of 2.9×10−10, 3.1×10−10 and 5.0×10−10, respectively, are obtained at 90% CL for the branching ratios of the three decays on the assumption of uniform phase-space distributions.

Abstract

Abstract Measurement of the ultra-rare K + → π + ν ν ¯ $$ {K}^{+}\to {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ decay at the NA62 experiment at CERN requires high-performance particle identification to distinguish muons from pions. Calorimetric identification currently in use, based on a boosted decision tree algorithm, achieves a muon misidentification probability of 1.2 × 10 −5 for a pion identification efficiency of 75% in the momentum range of 15–40 GeV/c. In this work, calorimetric identification performance is improved by developing an algorithm based on a convolutional neural network classifier augmented by a filter. Muon misidentification probability is reduced by a factor of six with respect to the current value for a fixed pion-identification efficiency of 75%. Alternatively, pion identification efficiency is improved from 72% to 91% for a fixed muon misidentification probability of 10 −5.

Abstract

Abstract A sample of 1.3 × 105 K + → π 0 e + νγ candidates with less than 1% background was collected by the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2017–2018. Branching fraction measurements are obtained at percent relative precision in three restricted kinematic regions, improving on existing results by a factor larger than two. An asymmetry, possibly related to T-violation, is investigated with no evidence observed within the achieved precision.

Abstract

A sample of 3984 candidates of the K+→π+γγ decay, with an estimated background of 291±14 events, was collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN during 2017–2018. In order to describe the observed di-photon mass spectrum, the next-to-leading order contribution in chiral perturbation theory was found to be necessary. The decay branching ratio in the full kinematic range is measured to be (9.61±0.17)×10−7. The first search for production and prompt decay of an axion-like particle with gluon coupling in the process K+→π+a, a→γγ is also reported.

Abstract

The first search for ultra-rare K+ decays into the π+e+e−e+e− final state is reported, using a dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2017–2018. An upper limit of 1.4×10−8 at 90% CL is obtained for the branching ratio of the K+→π+e+e−e+e− decay, predicted in the Standard Model to be (7.2±0.7)×10−11. Upper limits at 90% CL are obtained at the level of 10−9 for the branching ratios of two prompt decay chains involving pair-production of hidden-sector mediators: K+→π+aa, a→e+e− and K+→π+S, S→A′A′, A′→e+e−.

Abstract The NA62 experiment at CERN targets the measurement of the ultra-rare K + → π + ν ν ¯ $$ {K}^{+}\to {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ decay, and carries out a broad physics programme that includes probes for symmetry violations and searches for exotic particles. Data were collected in 2016–2018 using a multi-level trigger system, which is described highlighting performance studies based on 2018 data.

Abstract

Abstract A sample of 2.8 × 104 K + → π + μ + μ − candidates with negligible background was collected by the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2017–2018. The model-independent branching fraction is measured to be (9.15 ± 0.08) × 10 −8, a factor three more precise than previous measurements. The decay form factor is presented as a function of the squared dimuon mass. A measurement of the form factor parameters and their uncertainties is performed using a description based on Chiral Perturbation Theory at O $$ \mathcal{O} $$ (p 6).

Abstract

A search for the K+→μ−νe+e+ decay, forbidden within the Standard Model by either lepton number or lepton flavour conservation depending on the flavour of the emitted neutrino, has been performed using the dataset collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2016–2018. An upper limit of 8.1×10−11 is obtained for the decay branching fraction at 90% CL, improving by a factor of 250 over the previous search.

Abstract

The former result improves by a factor of four over the previous best limit, while the latter result represents the first limit on the K+→π−π0e+e+ decay rate.

Abstract The NA62 experiment reports the branching ratio measurement BR K + → π + ν ν ¯ = 10.6 − 3.4 + 4.0 stat ± 0.9 syst × 10 − 11 $$ \mathrm{BR}\left({K}^{+}\to {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu}\right)=\left({10.6}_{-3.4}^{+4.0}\left|{}_{\mathrm{stat}}\right.\pm {0.9}_{\mathrm{syst}}\right)\times {10}^{-11} $$ at 68% CL, based on the observation of 20 signal candidates with an expected background of 7.0 events from the total data sample collected at the CERN SPS during 2016–2018. This provides evidence for the very rare K + → π + ν ν ¯ $$ {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ decay, observed with a significance of 3.4σ. The experiment achieves a single event sensitivity of (0.839 ± 0.054) × 10 −11, corresponding to 10.0 events assuming the Standard Model branching ratio of (8.4 ± 1.0) × 10 −11. This measurement is also used to set limits on BR(K + → π + X), where X is a scalar or pseudo-scalar particle. Details are given of the analysis of the 2018 data sample, which corresponds to about 80% of the total data sample.

Abstract

The first results of investigation of edge localized modes (ELMs) in the Globus-M2 tokamak using the Doppler backscattering method are presented in this paper. Specifically, ELMs that are initiated by sawtooth crashes in the H-mode are discussed. The goal of this paper is study plasma turbulence behaviour during ELMs and to showcase what ELM characteristics can be obtained using Doppler backscattering (DBS). An increase of the poloidal rotation velocity during an ELM burst and a decrease in the inter-ELM periods was observed. The effect of ELMs on the plasma turbulence was investigated and estimated to span around 6 cm inside the separatrix. This is to do with the fact that the sawtooth crashes which are responsible for initiating the ELMs take place in the core plasma. Additional experiments with standard reflectometry indicate that ELMs develop 3 cm inside the separatrix where the pedestal region is believed to be in Globus-M2. The direction of the expansion of the ELMs from the inner plasma region to the edge was determined and the velocity was estimated to be around 8 km s ^−1 . During a single ELM burst a series of filament structures were found in the peripheral DBS channels. In an attempt to understand the processes involved modelling of the reaction of the DBS signals to filaments was done using the BOUT ++ and IPF-FD3D full-wave codes, and the cases for both linear and nonlinear scattering were considered. The results show that the presence of nonlinear scattering during ELMs can lead to an overestimation of the measured velocity values in the region of filament existence near the separatrix.

Abstract

Abstract The results of a search for π 0 decays to a photon and an invisible massive dark photon at the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS are reported. From a total of 4.12 × 108 tagged π 0 mesons, no signal is observed. Assuming a kinetic-mixing interaction, limits are set on the dark photon coupling to the ordinary photon as a function of the dark photon mass, improving on previous searches in the mass range 60–110 MeV/c 2. The present results are interpreted in terms of an upper limit of the branching ratio of the electro-weak decay π 0 → γ ν ν ¯ $$ {\pi}^0\to \gamma \nu \overline{\nu} $$ , improving the current limit by more than three orders of magnitude.

Abstract

The NA62 experiment at CERN reports searches for K+→μ+N and K+→μ+νX decays, where N and X are massive invisible particles, using the 2016–2018 data set. The N particle is assumed to be a heavy neutral lepton, and the results are expressed as upper limits of O(10−8) of the neutrino mixing parameter |Uμ4|2 for N masses in the range 200–384 MeV/c2 and lifetime exceeding 50 ns. The X particle is considered a scalar or vector hidden sector mediator decaying to an invisible final state, and upper limits of the decay branching fraction for X masses in the range 10–370 MeV/c2 are reported for the first time, ranging from O(10−5) to O(10−7). An improved upper limit of 1.0×10−6 is established at 90% CL on the K+→μ+ννν¯ branching fraction.

Abstract

A search for heavy neutral lepton (N) production in K+→e+N decays using the data sample collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2017–2018 is reported. Upper limits of the extended neutrino mixing matrix element |Ue4|2 are established at the level of 10−9 over most of the accessible heavy neutral lepton mass range 144–462 MeV/c2, with the assumption that the lifetime exceeds 50 ns. These limits improve significantly upon those of previous production and decay searches. The |Ue4|2 range favoured by Big Bang Nucleosynthesis is excluded up to a mass of about 340 MeV/c2.

Abstract

The NA62 experiment at CERN reports a search for the lepton number violating decays K+→π−e+e+ and K+→π−μ+μ+ using a data sample collected in 2017. No signals are observed, and upper limits on the branching fractions of these decays of 2.2×10−10 and 4.2×10−11 are obtained, respectively, at 90% confidence level. These upper limits improve on previously reported measurements by factors of 3 and 2, respectively.

Abstract

We report the measurements of single and double differential cross section of muon neutrino charged-current interactions on carbon with a single positively charged pion in the final state at the T2K off-axis near detector using $5.56\times10^{20}$ protons on target. The analysis uses data control samples for the background subtraction and the cross section signal, defined as a single negatively charged muon and a single positively charged pion exiting from the target nucleus, is extracted using an unfolding method. The model dependent cross section, integrated over the T2K off-axis neutrino beam spectrum peaking at $0.6$~GeV, is measured to be $\sigma = (11.76 \pm 0.44 \text{(stat)} \pm 2.39 \text{(syst)}) \times 10^{-40} \text{cm}^2$~$\text{nucleon}^{-1}$. Various differential cross sections are measured, including the first measurement of the Adler angles for single charged pion production in neutrino interactions with heavy nuclei target.

Abstract

Corn is one of the main crops of modern world agriculture, versatile use and high yield, which can largely solve the problems of food security. Various types of weeds can cause significant losses of its yield, which can reach 50% or more, which makes it necessary to provide for protective measures against them in technological schemes of corn cultivation. In corn cultivation technologies, the weed control system is of great importance, since corn grows very slowly at the beginning of the growing season. The purpose of the research is to study the influence of various agrotechnical techniques on the number and variety of weeds in sugar corn crops in the conditions of the Lower Volga region. The tasks of the research are to determine the number and species composition of weeds during the growing season of sweet corn; to determine the effect of herbicides on weeds in sugar corn crops. The experiments were carried out in LLC “Kuznetsovskaya” agricultural company of the Ilovlinsky district of the Volgograd region and in S.A. Popov’s farm of the Chernoyarsky district of the Astrakhan region. The research period is 2009...2015. The contamination was determined by quantitative and weight method on an area of 1 m2. According to all variants of the experiment, the contamination was attributed to a mixed juvenile and long-term type, while no stable patterns were observed in changing the ratios between these components.As a result, it has been revealed that the number of weeds in LLC “Kuznetsovskaya” of the Ilovlinsky district of the Volgograd region varied from 6 to 17 pcs./m2. For dump tillage, this indicator varied from 6 to 11 pcs./m2, for zero tillage – 13...17 pcs./m2. In S.A. Popov’s farm of the Chernoyarsky district of the Astrakhan region, the number of weeds for dump tillage was 4...9 pcs./m2, depending on the influence of agrotechnical reception, for zero tillage contained from 10 to 17 pcs./ m2.

Abstract

The number of soil microorganisms affect the fertility of the soil and the processes occurring in the soil microflora. An urgent research problem is the rationale for the use of intensive technologies for the cultivation of sweet corn using progressive methods for obtaining a highly productive crop based on the principles of resource conservation, biologization and ecologization. The purpose of the research is to study the toxicity and biological activity of the soil after sowing sweet corn. The tasks are to determine the biological activity and toxicity of the soil, and comparative impact of agricultural practices in the study of soil toxicity. Two-factor experiment in quadruple repetition. The experiments were carried out on the farm enterprise of Popov S.A., the Chernoyarsky district of the Astrakhan region. The research period was 2009…2015. Determination of biological activity and toxicity was carried out at the beginning of the research in 2009 and 2015. According to the assessment of the intensity of the destruction of cellulose on O.E. Pryazhnikova’s scale biological activity was characterized as strong. A close correlation dependence on experience factors was noted, the relationship between the signs was high and direct. When determining the toxicity of the soil, we came to the conclusion that at the beginning of the research favorable conditions for the development of the studied crop were formed on soils cultivated by moldboard cultivation. According to zero tillage, an increase in soil toxicity was observed, which was expressed in a decrease in seed germination, the mass of seedlings. Revisited in 2015. Soil toxicity after zero tillage decreased in all variants, seed germination increased, on average, by 5...8%. As a result of the accumulation of plant residues on the soil surface, an upper humus layer was formed, leading to a constant penetration of ai r into the soil.

20. Parsec-scale Properties of Steep- and Flat-spectrum Extragalactic Radio Sources from a VLBA Survey of a Complete North Polar Cap Sample

Abstract

We observed with the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) at 2.3 and 8.6 GHz a complete flux-density-limited sample of 482 radio sources with decl. > +75° brighter than 200 mJy at 1.4 GHz drawn from the NVSS catalog. A total of 34% of the sources show parsec-scale emission above the flux density detection limit of 30 mJy; their accurate positions and parsec-scale structure parameters are determined. Among all the sources detected at least at the shortest VLBA baselines, the majority, or 72%, have a steep single-dish spectrum. The fraction of the sources with a detectable parsec-scale structure is above 95% among the flat-spectrum objects and close to 25% among the steep-spectrum objects. We identified 82 compact steep-spectrum source candidates, which make up 17% of the sample; most of them are reported for the first time. The compactness and the brightness temperature of the sources in our sample show a positive correlation with single-dish and VLBA spectral indices. All the sources with a significant 8 GHz variability were detected by the VLBA snapshot observations, which independently confirmed their compactness. We demonstrated that 54% of the sources detected by the VLBA at 2.3 GHz in our sample have a steep VLBA spectrum. The compact radio emission of these sources is likely dominated by optically thin jets or mini-lobes, not by an opaque jet core. These results show that future VLBI surveys aimed at searching for new sources with parsec-scale structure should include not only flat-spectrum sources but also steep-spectrum ones in order to reach an acceptable level of completeness.

Abstract

The principles of personalized approach to early diagnosis and monitoring of primary glaucoma are shown by a clinical example. We analyzed the potentials of contemporary electrophysiological tests for preclinically diagnosing glaucoma optic neuropathy and monitoring drug treatment. For the first time, we demonstrated the experience of using a new fixed combination of brinzolamide + brimonidine by a clinical case from our practice. The test results confirm the hypotensive effect of the medication (IOP reduction by 36.2 %) so that it can be recommended for the treatment of patients with glaucomatous optic neuropathy and that combined with vascular pathology.

Abstract

The article presents the developed non-stationary two-dimensional hydrostatic model of wave propagation in the water area of the port of the Bay of Five Hunters, protected by a coastal protection structure in the form of a jetty. The tasks of the work included the development of a model based on the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations and a long-range assessment of the possible impact of the wave situation on marine objects in the port area. At present, the provision of hydrometeorological predictive information is one of the most important factors in the effective operation of port waters. The results are presented graphically using a geographic information system, where different wave heights and maximum wave amplitudes are displayed using a color palette. The consistency of the obtained results is shown, and refraction, diffraction, and interference are noted for the incoming wavefront.

Abstract

Quantum-chemical calculations on the spectral properties of some aryl substituted 3-phosphonocoumarins were performed, and the effect of the substituents in the aryl moiety was evaluated. The structures possessing promising fluorescent properties were successfully synthesized via Suzuki and Sonogashira cross-coupling. The synthetic protocol was also applied for the phosphorous chemoisomer of 3-phosphonocoumarin, 1,2-benzoxaphosphorin, and their carboxylate analogues. The optical properties of the arylated and alkynylated products were experimentally determined. The obtained quantum-chemical and experimental results give the possibility for a fine tuning of the optical properties of phosphorous-containing coumarin systems by altering the substituent at its C-6 position.

Abstract

Thermal decomposition processes of two types of Barzas sapromixites - a tile-like modification (“tile”) and a product of its weathering (“exfoliated tile”) - have been investigated in various media (air and helium). It has been shown that in the course of temperature-programmed decomposition (10 °C/min) of these forms of tile-like Barzas sapromixite, in both oxidizing (air) and inert (helium) atmospheres, four main temperature ranges can be distinguished: 1) < 150 °C - removal of adsorbed water (this temperature region is more pronounced for the weathered form of tile-like Barzas sapromixite); 2) 150-350 °C - removal of low molecular weight volatile components of coal in helium environment (with their simultaneous ignition in case of the decomposition in air); 3) 350-550 °C - the temperature region of primary or fast coal pyrolysis in an inert medium; in an oxidative medium, this stage of pyrolysis is accompanied by the burning of released tarry substances; 4) > 550 °C - the temperature region of secondary or high-temperature coal pyrolysis to form semi-coke in helium atmosphere, or the region of burning this semi-coke in air medium. Thermal breakdown processes of “exfoliated tiles” in the temperature range of the most intensive decomposition (350-550 °C) have been found to require less energy consumptions than the similar processes for tile-like Barzas coals (by 72-73 kJ/mol for both gas media of thermal treatment). It is supposed that the differences observed in thermal behavior of Barzas sapromixite forms under investigation may be related to the different contents of mineral components and their effects on the thermal decomposition of coal organic matter.

Abstract

The article reviews the initial period of European colonization of the North Pacific Ocean and California within the context of diplomatic relations between Russia and Spain during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It tries to understand the policies of European powers in the American Northwest and the reasons for pursuing their colonial interests there. It analyses the history of exploration of these territories, expeditions to the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, and historical maps of this region. For the first time in Russian historiography the authors touch upon the exploration of California in the 18th century.The exploration of the North Pacific Ocean, the northwestern American coast, including certain areas of California, Alaska and the Aleutian Islands has long attracted the attention of European powers. It was a process in which government authorities and private merchant companies took part. The expansion of the Spanish Empire into California was made possible in part because of the concerns of the Madrid court about the strengthening of the Russian and British empires in the North Pacific Ocean. The Spanish documents from the archives of Madrid, Seville and Simancas – the article introduces them into research communication the first time - show the validity of the fears of the Madrid court regarding the inevitable development of Russian colonization in the region. The advance of Russia to the shores of America has economic reasons: Cossacks and merchants reached the Pacific Ocean pursuing the desire to profit from the fur trade. As the economic influence expanded, the state interests of annexing territories and bringing the local population into citizenship followed behind. The territorial advance of the Russians to the Pacific Ocean was facilitated by the ambitious, but at the same time balanced diplomacy of Peter I, which managed to ensure the expansion of the borders of the Russian Empire.Spanish consolidation in certain territories in California was aimed at a possible containment of the Russian advance. Russian-Spanish relations in the Northwest Pacific at the end of the 17th – 18th centuries contributed to the nature of the subsequent development of territories in the North Pacific Ocean.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to assess results of Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach in liver surgeries. Material and Methods . The topographical-anatomical and spatial relationships were studied on 20 corpses, taking into account assessment criteria according to A.Yu. Sozon-Yaroshevich. In clinical settings, Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach was applied in the treatment of 81 patients with hepatic diseases (cancer, hemangioma, alveococcosis), who underwent radical and palliative surgeries. Short-and long-term treatment outcomes during a 5 year follow-up were analyzed. Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach provided a sufficient overview of the liver, easy manipulation in the area of large bile ducts and blood vessels, as well as the ability to perform lymphodissection and combined operations. Results. The Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach to liver surgeries has significant advantages over traditional surgical approaches, providing a good overview for revision of both primary and recurrent liver lesions. This surgical approach allowed the number of postoperative complications to be reduced due to less wound tension, rapid relief of pain and reduction in intra-abdominal hypertension, thus shortening the treatment time for patients. In the long-term postoperative period, the incidence of postoperative hernias decreased due to less damage to the nerve terminals of the anterior abdominal wall. Conclusion. Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach is slightly traumatic due to innervation and muscle structure of the abdominal wall, is more physiological for the patient, and has a low rate of complications. This approach provides a good access to the organ requiring surgery and is able to perform radical cytoreductive surgeries. Merzlikin-Paramonova's approach to liver surgeries can be recommended for active implementation in clinical practice.

Abstract

Hydrogen fuel cells being hydrogen energy storage devices are the most effective and environmentally friendly for energy accumulation and storage. Direct current provides the accumulation of electric energy and is therefore necessary when using renewable energy sources. The social and environmental aspects, as well as climatic and glaciological features of the Arctic development in terms of energy supply are considered. The most expedient ways of complex development of the Arctic are shown. In terms of large and unique stationary projects a number of shortcomings is marked. They are high cost and long-term construction, incomplete autonomy and insufficient solution of ecological and waste processing problems. Incomplete autonomy is due to the need for transportation of materials, products, replacement crews and personnel, as well as insufficient logistics and transportation difficulties on the mainland in summer and by sea in winter. Ecological and waste processing problems are associated with the use of traditional methods of burning solid and liquid fuel using coal or fuel oil, polluting the environment. Switching to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) for electric propulsion and power supply will significantly improve the environmental situation. The research performed on the mathematical model of the multifunctional energy complex (MEC) showed the possibility of uninterrupted power supply of local load from the centralized network, diesel generator (DG) and the electricity storage (ES); by that DG is used to save fuel as a backup source. The proposed technologies of power generation based on hydrogen or low-power nuclear power plants (LPNPPs) allow, along with improving the environment, to increase the energy efficiency of the direct fuel conversion plant and provide integrated waste processing. The small population of the Arctic, its mobility when using the rotational method require the integrated development of mobile energy and life support systems of low power up to 30 MW using LNG or LPNPPs, completed by renewable energy sources (RES). If the hydrogen installation is both a source and a storage of electricity, the use of LPNPPs and especially RES require energy storage devices. These hydrogen or electrochemical cycle storage devices are the most progressive in the world energy sector and their applicability significantly depends on the development of the service infrastructure. Typing and replication of power supply sources will solve the problem of development of remote and isolated regions of the Arctic through the integrated use of innovative technologies for generation, storage, transmission and distribution of electricity, life support, utilization and recycling of wastes, environmental conservation using hydrogen energy and digital control and monitoring systems. The climatic conditions of the Arctic and the presence of LNG determine the use of hydrogen as a source for generating electricity, heat, water and air.

Abstract

The authors' article discusses the proposed methodology for the inventory of woody plants using the tools of geographic information systems. The tasks of the study included a tree inventory of plantations in the city, this task is of practical interest in the management and development of economic activities in an urbanized territory. To conduct sub-river decryption, the authors carried out work on creating thematic layers for each of the identified trees. The article describes a step-by-step methodology for formalizing the features of plantations within the framework of the system under consideration and the possible transition from classical taxation of woodlands to partially automated methods for decrypting plantations at the level of separately considered tree species for the benefit of garden and park farming. The article indicates the necessary characteristics for creating a database of plantings features using the Autocad Map GIS. Abstract

The decay $K^+\to\pi^+\nu\bar{\nu}$, with a very precisely predicted branching ratio of less than $10^{-10}$, is among the best processes to reveal indirect effects of new physics. The NA62 experiment at CERN SPS is designed to study the $K^+\to\pi^+\nu\bar{\nu}$ decay and to measure its branching ratio using a decay-in-flight technique. NA62 took data in 2016, 2017 and 2018, reaching the sensitivity of the Standard Model for the $K^+\to\pi^+\nu\bar{\nu}$ decay by the analysis of the 2016 and 2017 data, and providing the most precise measurement of the branching ratio to date by the analysis of the 2018 data. This measurement is also used to set limits on BR($K^+\to\pi^+X$), where $X$ is a scalar or pseudo-scalar particle. The final result of the BR($K^+\to\pi^+\nu\bar{\nu}$) measurement and its interpretation in terms of the $K^+\to\pi^+ X$ decay from the analysis of the full 2016-2018 data set is presented, and future plans and prospects are reviewed.

Abstract

The International Energy Agency's strategy is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. Since the energy sector generates most of these emissions, it is this industry that should be affected by the maximum changes. One of the possible ways is the development of hydropower, this article will consider different types of tidal power plants, compare them and conclude that it is advisable to use them as a replacement for the main types of electricity generation. As materials in the study, data from the works of specialists and data from international organizations were taken. The analysis shows the feasibility of various types of tidal power plants to participate in the decarbonization process and reach 'Net Zero' by 2050.

The results obtained do not contradict theoretical hypotheses.

The impact of nuclear power plants on the cooling reservoir is considered. In the course of the work, the main impact was identified. Potential impacts are considered in connection with the identified thermal pollution of the reservoir, and an assessment of the ecological state and its development with further pollution is given. The importance of monitoring the cooling reservoir during the operation of nuclear power plants was noted. The results obtained can be used to improve the environmental monitoring of nuclear power facilities.

Abstract

Searches for the lepton number violating $K^{+} \rightarrow \pi^{-} \mu^{+} e^{+}$ decay and the lepton flavour violating $K^{+} \rightarrow \pi^{+} \mu^{-} e^{+}$ and $\pi^{0} \rightarrow \mu^{-} e^{+}$ decays are reported using data collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in $2017$-$2018$. No evidence for these decays is found and upper limits of the branching ratios are obtained at 90% confidence level: $\mathcal{B}(K^{+}\rightarrow\pi^{-}\mu^{+}e^{+})

Abstract

The social and environmental aspects, climatic and glaciological features of the Arctic development in terms of energy supply are considered. The most expedient ways of complex development of the Arctic are shown. On the example of the large and unique stationary projects, paper marks some shortcomings: high cost, long-term construction, incomplete autonomy, insufficient solution of problems of ecology and waste processing. Incomplete autonomy is due to the need for transportation of materials, products, replacement crews and personnel, as well as insufficient logistics and transportation difficulties in summer on the mainland and in winter by sea. Problems of ecology and waste processing are associated with the use of traditional methods of burning solid and liquid fuels using coal or fuel oil polluting the environment. Switching to liquefied natural gas (LNG) for electric propulsion and power supply will significantly improve the environmental situation. The research performed on the mathematical model of the multifunctional energy complex of IEC shows the possibility of uninterrupted power supply of local load from both the centralized network, and from the diesel generator (DG) and the electric power storage; DG is used to save fuel as a backup source. The proposed technologies of power generation based on hydrogen or low-power nuclear power plants allow increasing the energy efficiency of the direct fuel conversion plant and provide integrated waste processing along with improving the environment. The small population of the Arctic, its mobility when using the rotational method requires the integrated development of mobile energy and life support systems of low power up to 30 MW using LNG or low-power nuclear power plants supplemented with RES. If the installation on hydrogen is both source and storage of electricity, the use of low-power nuclear power plants and especially RES require the use of energy storage devices. These hydrogen or electrochemical cycle storage devices are the most progressive in the world energy sector, and their applicability significantly depends on the development of the service infrastructure. Typing and replication of power supply sources can solve the problem of development of remote and isolated regions of the Arctic through the integrated use of innovative technologies for generation, storage, transmission and distribution of electricity, life support, recycling and recycling of waste, environmental conservation using hydrogen energy and digital control and monitoring systems.

Abstract

The article presents data on the development of an assay method of silver in pharmaceutical substance «Argamid» based on silver salt sulfadimidine. The method is based on the rhodanometric titration with potentiometric indication of the final point. The results of the validation assessment of the method are shown.
