The cold interstellar medium (ISM) as the raw material for star formation is critical to understanding galaxy evolution. It is generally understood that galaxies stop making stars when, in one way or another, they run out of gas. However, here we provide evidence that central spiral galaxies remain rich in atomic gas even if their star formation rate and molecular gas fraction have dropped significantly compared to "normal" star-forming galaxies of the same mass. Since HI is sensitive to external processes, here we investigate central spiral galaxies using a combined sample from SDSS, ALFALFA, and xGASS surveys. After proper incompleteness corrections, we find that the key HI scaling relations for central spirals show significant but regular systematic dependence on stellar mass. At any given stellar mass, the HI gas mass fraction is about constant with changing specific star formation rate (sSFR), which suggests that HI reservoir is ubiquitous in central spirals with any star formation status down to M* ~ 10^9 Msun. Together with the tight correlation between the molecular gas mass fraction and sSFR for galaxies across a wide range of different properties, it suggests that the decline of SFR of all central spirals in the local universe is due to the halt of H2 supply, though there is plenty of HI gas around. We describe the physical mechanisms of launching and acceleration of wind from an active galactic nucleus (AGN) accretion disk. We focus on the radiation line force driven and magnetic driven wind models, which operate on the accretion disk scale. We review the investigation histories of the two mechanisms and the most new results obtained recently. The ultra-fast outflows (UFOs) found in the hard X-ray bands are believed to directly originate from AGN accretion disks. We review the theoretical works applying the two mechanisms of wind to explain the UFOs. We briefly introduce the propagation of winds on a large scale which is important for AGN wind feedback study. Wind is believed to be widespread in various black hole accretion flows. However, unlike the wind from thin disks, which have substantial observational evidence, the wind from hot accretion flows is difficult to observe due to the extremely high temperatures causing the gas to be almost fully ionized. Its existence was controversial until recent theoretical work demonstrated its presence and strength, which was subsequently confirmed by observations. Although there have been some new observations recently, the main progress still comes from theoretical studies. These studies investigate the effects of different magnetic fields and black hole spins on the wind, providing insights into properties such as mass flux and wind velocity. Wind is typically produced locally within the Bondi radius, and even wind generated on a small scale can propagate far beyond this radius. The situation with super-Eddington wind is similar, despite some recent observations, the main advances rely on theoretical studies. We study the forward-backward azimuthal angular correlations of hadrons in association with multi-particle production in the central rapidity region in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. We apply the nucleon energy-energy correlator framework, where the spinning gluon distribution introduces a nontrivial $\cos(2\phi)$ asymmetries. We will demonstrate that the fundamental helicity structure of QCD amplitudes predicts a unique power counting rule: $\cos(2\phi)$ asymmetry starts at ${O}(\alpha_s^2)$ order for dijet, ${O}(\alpha_s)$ for three jet and ${O}(1)$ for four (and more) jet productions. In $\Lambda$CDM cosmology, galaxies form and evolve in their host dark matter (DM) halos. Halo mass is crucial for understanding the halo-galaxy connection. The abundance matching (AM) technique has been widely used to derive the halo masses of galaxy groups. However, quenching of the central galaxy can decouple the coevolution of its stellar mass and DM halo mass. Different halo assembly histories can also result in significantly different final stellar mass of the central galaxies. These processes can introduce substantial uncertainties in the halo masses derived from the AM method, particularly leading to a systematic bias between groups with star-forming centrals (blue groups) and passive centrals (red groups). To improve, we developed a new machine learning (ML) algorithm that accounts for these effects and is trained on simulations. Our results show that the ML method eliminates the systematic bias in the derived halo masses for blue and red groups and is, on average, $\sim1/3$ more accurate than the AM method. With careful calibration of observable quantities from simulations and observations from SDSS, we apply our ML model to the SDSS Yang et al. groups to derive their halo masses down to $10^{11.5}\mathrm{M_\odot}$ or even lower. The derived SDSS group halo mass function agrees well with the theoretical predictions, and the derived stellar-to-halo mass relations for both red and blue groups matches well with those obtained from direct weak lensing measurements. These new halo mass estimates enable more accurate investigation of the galaxy-halo connection and the role of the halos in galaxy evolution., Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures. The spectral energy distribution (SED) of galaxies is essential for deriving fundamental properties like stellar mass and star formation history (SFH). However, conventional methods, including both parametric and non-parametric approaches, often fail to accurately recover the observed cosmic star formation rate (SFR) density due to oversimplified or unrealistic assumptions about SFH and their inability to account for the complex SFH variations across different galaxy populations. To address this issue, we introduce a novel approach that improves galaxy broad-band SED analysis by incorporating physical priors derived from hydrodynamical simulations. Tests using IllustrisTNG simulations demonstrate that our method can reliably determine galaxy physical properties from broad-band photometry, including stellar mass within 0.05 dex, current SFR within 0.3 dex, and fractional stellar formation time within 0.2 dex, with a negligible fraction of catastrophic failures. When applied to the SDSS main photometric galaxy sample with spectroscopic redshift, our estimates of stellar mass and SFR are consistent with the widely-used MPA-JHU and GSWLC catalogs. Notably, using the derived SFHs of individual SDSS galaxies, we estimate the cosmic SFR density and stellar mass density with remarkable consistency to direct observations up to $z \sim 6$. This marks the first time SFHs derived from SEDs can accurately match observations. Consequently, our method can reliably recover observed spectral indices such as $\rm D_{\rm n}(4000)$ and $\rm H\delta_{\rm A}$ by synthesizing the full spectra of galaxies using the estimated SFHs and metal enrichment histories, relying solely on broad-band photometry as input. Using the colour dipole picture of Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) and the Colour Glass Condensate effective theory, we study semi-inclusive jet production in DIS at small $x$ in the limit where the photon virtuality $Q^2$ is much larger than the transverse momentum squared $P_\perp^2$ of the produced jet. In this limit, the cross-section is dominated by aligned jet configurations, that is, quark-antiquark pairs in which one of the fermions -- the would-be struck quark in the Breit frame -- carries most of the longitudinal momentum of the virtual photon. We show that physically meaningful jet definitions in DIS are such that the effective axis of the jet sourced by the struck quark is controlled by its virtuality rather than by its transverse momentum. For such jet definitions, we show that the next-to-leading order (NLO) cross-section admits factorisation in terms of the (sea) quark transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distribution, which in turn satisfies a universal DGLAP and Sudakov evolution., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, 1 supplemental material

Elastic collisions of solitons generally have a finite phase shift. When the phase shift has a finitely large value, the two vertices of the (2+1)-dimensional 2-soliton are significantly separated due to the phase shift, accompanied by the formation of a local structure connecting the two V-shaped solitons. We define this local structure as the stem structure. This study systematically investigates the localized stem structures between two solitons in the (2+1)-dimensional asymmetric Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov system. These stem structures, arising from quasi-resonant collisions between the solitons, exhibit distinct features of spatial locality and temporal invariance. We explore two scenarios: one characterized by weakly quasi-resonant collisions (i.e. $a_{12}\approx 0$), and the other by strongly quasi-resonant collisions (i.e. $a_{12}\approx +\infty$). Through mathematical analysis, we extract comprehensive insights into the trajectories, amplitudes, and velocities of the soliton arms. Furthermore, we discuss the characteristics of the stem structures, including their length and extreme points. The properties of the galaxies are tightly connected to their host halo mass and halo assembly history. Accurate measurement of the halo assembly history in observation is challenging but crucial to the understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. The stellar-to-halo mass ratio ($M_*/M_{\mathrm{h}}$) for the centrals has often been used to indicate the halo assembly time $t_{\mathrm{h,50}}$ of the group, where $t_{\mathrm{h,50}}$ is the lookback time at which a halo has assembled half of its present-day virial mass. Using mock data from the semi-analytic models, we find that $M_*/M_{\mathrm{h}}$ shows a significant scatter with $t_{\mathrm{h,50}}$, with a strong systematic difference between the group with a star-forming central (blue group) and passive central (red group). To improve the accuracy, we develop machine-learning models to estimate $t_{\mathrm{h,50}}$ for galaxy groups using only observable quantities in the mocks. Since star-formation quenching will decouple the co-growth of the dark matter and baryon, we train our models separately for blue and red groups. Our models have successfully recovered $t_{\mathrm{h,50}}$, within an accuracy of $\sim$ 1.09 Gyr. With careful calibrations of individual observable quantities in the mocks with SDSS observations, we apply the trained models to the SDSS Yang et al. groups and derive the $t_{\mathrm{h,50}}$ for each group for the first time. The derived SDSS $t_{\mathrm{h,50}}$ distributions are in good agreement with that in the mocks, in particular for blue groups. Quasars are generally divided into jetted radio-loud and non-jetted radio-quiet ones, but why only 10% quasars are radio loud has been puzzling for decades. Other than jet-induced-phenomena, black hole mass, or Eddington ratio, prominent difference between jetted and non-jetted quasars has scarcely been detected. Here we show a unique distinction between them and the mystery of jet launching could be disclosed by a prominent excess of radio emission in extremely stable quasars (ESQs, i.e., type 1 quasars with extremely weak variability in UV/optical over 10 years). Specifically, we find that $>$ 25% of the ESQs are detected by the FIRST/VLASS radio survey, while only $\sim$ 6-8% of the control sample, matched in redshift, luminosity, and Eddington ratio, are radio-detected. The excess of radio detection in ESQs has a significance of 4.4 $\sigma$ (99.9995%), and dominantly occurs at intermediate radio loudness with R $\sim$ 10 - 60. The radio detection fraction of ESQs also tends to increase in the ESQ samples selected with more stringent thresholds. Our results are in contrast to the common view that RL quasars are likely more variable in UV/optical due to jet contribution. New clues/challenge posed by our findings highlight the importance of extensive follow-up observations to probe the nature of jets in ESQs, and theoretical studies on the link between jet launching and ESQs. We apply the recently developed concept of the nucleon energy-energy correlator (NEEC) for the gluon sector to investigate the long-range azimuthal angular correlations in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The spinning gluon in these collisions will introduce a significant nonzero $\cos(2\phi)$ asymmetries in both Higgs Boson and top quark pair productions. The genesis of the $\cos(2\phi)$ correlation lies in the intricate quantum entanglement. Recently, relational metric learning methods have been received great attention in recommendation community, which is inspired by the translation mechanism in knowledge graph. Different from the knowledge graph where the entity-to-entity relations are given in advance, historical interactions lack explicit relations between users and items in recommender systems. Currently, many researchers have succeeded in constructing the implicit relations to remit this issue. However, in previous work, the learning process of the induction function only depends on a single source of data (i.e., user-item interaction) in a supervised manner, resulting in the co-occurrence relation that is free of any semantic information. In this paper, to tackle the above problem in recommender systems, we propose a joint Semantic-Enhanced Relational Metric Learning (SERML) framework that incorporates the semantic information. Specifically, the semantic signal is first extracted from the target reviews containing abundant item features and personalized user preferences. A novel regression model is then designed via leveraging the extracted semantic signal to improve the discriminative ability of original relation-based training process. On four widely-used public datasets, experimental results demonstrate that SERML produces a competitive performance compared with several state-of-the-art methods in recommender systems.

Dark sector may exist and interact with Standard Model (SM) through the $U(1)$ kinetic mixing. Through this portal-type interaction, dark photon from dark sector couples to SM fermions, and may explain the discrepancy between experimental data and SM calculations on muon anomalous magnetic moment, muon $g-2$. However, current searches for dark photon impose stringent constraints on the mixing parameter $\varepsilon$ for various dark photon masses, excluding the favorite parameter space for muon $g-2$. In this paper, we study the case where a global $U(1)$ in dark sector is spontaneously broken, resulting a light pseudo-Goldstone, axion-like particle (ALP) $a$, which couples to dark photon and SM photon, $g_{a\gamma\gamma'}$. Through this interaction, dark photon may decay into photon and ALP when this channel is kinematically allowed. As a result, the experimental constraints on dark photon change significantly, and dark photon is able to explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly when its mass is heavier than $10$ GeV., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures

We discuss the angular dependence of the recently proposed transverse momentum dependent quark and gluon diffractive parton distributions at small-$x$. We introduce the difractive versions of the Sivers function and the elliptic gluon Wigner distribution and evaluate them in simple models with gluon saturation and study their geometric scaling properties. We also show that the diffractive version of the linearly polarized gluon distribution identically vanishes to leading order. These distributions enrich the physics opportunities for measuring semi-inclsuive diffractive DIS processes at the future electron-ion colliders., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

The formation of jets in black hole accretion systems is a long-standing problem. It has been proposed that a jet can be formed by extracting the rotation energy of the black hole ("BZ-jet") or the accretion flow ("disk-jet"). While both models can produce collimated relativistic outflows, neither has successfully explained the observed jet morphology. By employing general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulations, and considering nonthermal electrons accelerated by magnetic reconnection that is likely driven by magnetic eruption in the underlying accretion flow, we obtain images by radiative transfer calculations and compared them to millimeter observations of the jet in M87. By investigating the soft gluon radiation in the $J/\psi$ plus jet photoproduction at the electron-ion collider (EIC), we demonstrate that the azimuthal angular correlations between the leading jet and heavy quarkonium provide a unique probe to the production mechanism of the latter. In particular, a significant $\cos(\phi)$ asymmetry is found for the color-singlet channel, whereas it vanishes or has an opposite sign for color-octet production, depending on the jet transverse momentum. Supermassive black holes in galaxies spend majority of their lifetime in the low-luminosity regime, powered by hot accretion flow. Strong winds launched from the hot accretion flow have the potential to play an important role in active galactic nuclei (AGN) feedback. Direct observational evidence for these hot winds with temperature around 10 keV, has been obtained through the detection of highly ionized iron emission lines with Doppler shifts in two prototypical low-luminosity AGNs, namely M81* and NGC 7213. In this work, we further identify blueshifted H-like O/Ne emission lines in the soft X-ray spectra of these two sources. These lines are interpreted to be associated with additional outflowing components possessing velocity around several $10^3$ km/s and lower temperature (~0.2-0.4 keV). Blue-shifted velocity and the X-ray intensity of these additional outflowing components are hard to be explained by previously detected hot wind freely propagating to larger radii. Through detailed numerical simulations, we find the newly detected blue-shifted emission lines would come from circumnuclear gas shock-heated by the hot wind instead. Hot wind can provide larger ram pressure force on the clumpy circumnuclear gas than the gravitational force from central black hole, effectively impeding the black hole accretion of gas. Wireless baseband processing (WBP) is a key element of wireless communications, with a series of signal processing modules to improve data throughput and counter channel fading. Conventional hardware solutions, such as digital signal processors (DSPs) and more recently, graphic processing units (GPUs), provide various degrees of parallelism, yet they both fail to take into account the cyclical and consecutive character of WBP. Furthermore, the large amount of data in WBPs cannot be processed quickly in symmetric multiprocessors (SMPs) due to the unpredictability of memory latency. To address this issue, we propose a hierarchical dataflow-driven architecture to accelerate WBP. A pack-and-ship approach is presented under a non-uniform memory access (NUMA) architecture to allow the subordinate tiles to operate in a bundled access and execute manner. We also propose a multi-level dataflow model and the related scheduling scheme to manage and allocate the heterogeneous hardware resources. Experiment results demonstrate that our prototype achieves $2\times$ and $2.3\times$ speedup in terms of normalized throughput and single-tile clock cycles compared with GPU and DSP counterparts in several critical WBP benchmarks. By calculating dynamical structure factor of two-dimensional doped attractive Fermi-Hubbard model with Rashba spin-orbit coupling, we not only investigate collective modes and single-particle excitations of the system during the phase transition between Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer superfluid and topological superfluid, but also propose a universal method to measure pairing gap measurement in an optical lattice system. Our numerical results show that the area of the molecular excitation peak at the transferred momentum ${\bf q}=\left[\pi,\pi\right]$ is proportional to the square of the pairing gap in the system with Rashba SOC. In particular, this method is very sensitive to the pairing gap. This goes on verifying that this method is universal to measure the pairing gap in a doped optical lattice with Rashba SOC. In this study, ultrafast optical spectroscopy was employed to elucidate the intricate topological features of EuIn$_2$As$_2$, a promising candidate for a magnetic topological-crystalline axion insulator. Our investigation, focusing on the real-time evolution of topological states, unveiled a narrow surface magnetic gap (2$\Delta_0$ $\simeq$ 8.2 meV)) emerging at the antiferromagnetic transition temperature ($T_N$ $\approx$ 16 K). Below $T_N$, two extremely low-energy collective modes, $\omega_1$ and $\omega_2$, with frequencies of $\sim$9.9 and 21.6 GHz at $T$ = 4 K, respectively, were observed, exhibiting strong temperature dependence. $\omega_1$ correlates with an acoustic phonon, while $\omega_2$ is associated with a magnon. The results suggest that EuIn$_2$As$_2$ has the potential to manifest a magnetic topological-crystalline axion insulator, presenting a small magnetic energy gap on the (001) surface. We theoretically investigate a one-dimensional Fulde-Ferrell Fermi superfluid at a finite effective Zeeman field $h$, and study entire dynamical excitations related to density perturbation. By calculating the density dynamic structure factor, we find anisotropic dynamical excitations in both collective modes and single-particle excitations. Along the direction of centre-of-mass momentum $p$, there are two obvious gapless collective modes with different speed. The lower collective modes is from the usual gauge symmetry breaking and has a larger speed than the one in the negative direction of $p$. The higher one is due to the direction spontaneous symmetry breaking of centre-of-mass momentum $p$, and separates two kinds of single-particle excitations in the positive $p$ direction. However, this higher mode disappears in the opposite direction of $p$, where two single-particle excitations overlap with each other. These signals of dynamical excitations can do help to distinguish Fulde-Ferrell superfluid from the conventional Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer superfluid in the future experiment., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Transformer based Large Language Models (LLMs) have been widely used in many fields, and the efficiency of LLM inference becomes hot topic in real applications. However, LLMs are usually complicatedly designed in model structure with massive operations and perform inference in the auto-regressive mode, making it a challenging task to design a system with high efficiency. In this paper, we propose an efficient LLM inference solution with low latency and high throughput. Firstly, we simplify the LLM decoder layer by fusing data movement and element-wise operations to reduce the memory access frequency and lower system latency. We also propose a segment KV cache policy to keep key/value of the request and response tokens in separate physical memory for effective device memory management, helping enlarge the runtime batch size and improve system throughput. A customized Scaled-Dot-Product-Attention kernel is designed to match our fusion policy based on the segment KV cache solution. We implement our LLM inference solution on Intel GPU and publish it publicly. Compared with the standard HuggingFace implementation, the proposed solution achieves up to 7x lower token latency and 27x higher throughput for some popular LLMs on Intel GPU.

Anomalous high energy photons, known as GRB221009A, with 18 TeV and 251 TeV were observed by LHAASO and Carpet-2 recently. Such observation of high energy gamma-ray bursts from distant source causes a mystery since high energy photons suffer severe attenuation before reaching the earth. One possibility is the existence of axion-like particles (ALP), and high energy photons at the source can convert to these ALPs which travel intergalactically. In this paper, we study the effects of extra dimensions on the conversion probability between photon and ALPs. The conversion probability saturates and may reach almost $100\%$ for high energy photons. We show that the size of extra dimension affects the energy at which saturation occurs. The observations of high-energy photons may support the possibility of smaller extra dimension.

We investigate the correlation of di-hadron productions between the current fragmentation region (CFR) and target fragmentation region (TFR) in deep inelastic scattering as a probe of the nucleon tomography. The QCD factorization and powering counting method are applied to compute the relevant diffractive parton distribution functions in the valence region. In particular, we show that the final state interaction effects lead to a nonzero longitudinal polarized quark distribution associated with the unpolarized nucleon target. This explains the observed beam single spin asymmetry (BSA) from a recent Jefferson Lab experiment. We further show that the BSA in the single diffractive hadron productions in the TFR, although kinematically suppressed, also exists because of the final state interaction effects., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures

The nucleus of almost all massive galaxies contains a supermassive black hole (BH). The feedback from the accretion of these BHs is often considered to have crucial roles in establishing the quiescence of massive galaxies, although some recent studies show that even galaxies hosting the most active BHs do not exhibit a reduction in their molecular gas reservoirs or star formation rates. Therefore, the influence of BHs on galaxy star formation remains highly debated and lacks direct evidence. Here, based on a large sample of nearby galaxies with measurements of masses of both BHs and atomic hydrogen (HI), the main component of the interstellar medium, we show that the HI gas mass to stellar masses ratio ($\mu_{\rm HI} = M_{\rm HI}/M_{\star}$) is more strongly correlated with BH masses ($M_{\rm BH}$) than with any other galaxy parameters, including stellar mass, stellar mass surface density and bulge masses. Moreover, once the $\mu_{\rm HI}-M_{\rm BH}$ correlation is considered, $\mu_{\rm HI}$ loses dependence on other galactic parameters, demonstrating that $M_{\rm BH}$ serves as the primary driver of $\mu_{\rm HI}$. These findings provide important evidence for how the accumulated energy from BH accretion regulates the cool gas content in galaxies, by ejecting interstellar medium gas and/or suppressing gas cooling from the circumgalactic medium., Comment: Published in Nature. The assembly of galaxies over cosmic time is tightly connected to the assembly of their host dark matter halos. We investigate the stellar mass growth history and the chemical enrichment history of central galaxies in SDSS-MaNGA. We find that the derived stellar metallicity of passive central galaxies is always higher than that of the star-forming ones. This stellar metallicity enhancement becomes progressively larger towards low-mass galaxies (at a given epoch) and earlier epochs (at a given stellar mass), which suggests strangulation as the primary mechanism for star formation quenching in central galaxies not only in the local universe, but also very likely at higher redshifts up to $z\sim3$. We show that at the same present-day stellar mass, passive central galaxies assembled half of their final stellar mass $\sim 2$ Gyr earlier than star-forming central galaxies, which agrees well with semi-analytic model. Exploring semi-analytic model, we find that this is because passive central galaxies reside in, on average, more massive halos with a higher halo mass increase rate across cosmic time. As a consequence, passive central galaxies are assembled faster and also quenched earlier than their star-forming counterparts. While at the same present-day halo mass, different halo assembly history also produces very different final stellar mass of the central galaxy within, and halos assembled earlier host more massive centrals with a higher quenched fraction, in particular around the "golden halo mass" at $10^{12}\mathrm{M_\odot}$. In this paper we investigate the role of AGN feedback on the late stage evolution of elliptical galaxies by performing high-resolution hydrodynamical simulation in the {\it MACER} framework. By comparing models that take into account different feedback mechanisms, namely AGN and stellar feedback, we find that AGN feedback is crucial in keeping the black hole in a low accretion state and suppressing the star formation. We then compare the energy from AGN radiation and wind deposited in the galaxy and find that only wind can compensate for the radiative cooling of the gas in the galaxy. Further, we investigate which plays the dominant role, the wind from the cold (quasar) or hot (radio) feedback modes, by examining the cumulative energy output and impact area to which the wind can heat the interstellar medium and suppress star formation. Our results indicate that first, although AGN spends most of its time in hot (radio) mode, the cumulative energy output is dominated by the outburst of the cold mode. Second, only the impact area of the cold-mode wind is large enough to heat the gas in the halo, while the hot-mode wind is not. Additionally, the cold-mode wind is capable of sweeping up the material from stellar mass loss. These results indicate the dominant role of cold-mode wind. The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) observed in 2017 the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), at a frequency of 228.1 GHz ($\lambda$=1.3 mm). The fundamental physics tests that even a single pulsar orbiting Sgr A* would enable motivate searching for pulsars in EHT datasets. The high observing frequency means that pulsars - which typically exhibit steep emission spectra - are expected to be very faint. However, it also negates pulse scattering, an effect that could hinder pulsar detections in the Galactic Center. Additionally, magnetars or a secondary inverse Compton emission could be stronger at millimeter wavelengths than at lower frequencies. We present a search for pulsars close to Sgr A* using the data from the three most-sensitive stations in the EHT 2017 campaign: the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, the Large Millimeter Telescope and the IRAM 30 m Telescope. We apply three detection methods based on Fourier-domain analysis, the Fast-Folding-Algorithm and single pulse search targeting both pulsars and burst-like transient emission; using the simultaneity of the observations to confirm potential candidates. No new pulsars or significant bursts were found. Being the first pulsar search ever carried out at such high radio frequencies, we detail our analysis methods and give a detailed estimation of the sensitivity of the search. We conclude that the EHT 2017 observations are only sensitive to a small fraction ($\lesssim$2.2%) of the pulsars that may exist close to Sgr A*, motivating further searches for fainter pulsars in the region., Comment: 33 pages, 7 figures, 6 Tables. We study the exclusive near-threshold photo-production of heavy quarkonium in the framework of the generalized parton distribution (GPD) factorization, taking the $J/\psi$ production as an example. Due to the threshold kinematics, the Compton-like amplitudes are related to gluon GPDs at large skewness $\xi$, distinct from the common kinematics in asymptotic high energy where the skewness is typically small. We discuss the nature of large-$\xi$ expansion of these amplitudes in terms of the moments of gluon GPDs in the large-$\xi$ limit. Based on that, we propose several ways to extract the first few moments of the gluon GPDs from these amplitudes, with the leading ones corresponding to the gluonic gravitational or energy-momentum tensor form factors (GFFs). We apply these methods to analyze the recent near-threshold $J/\psi$ production measurements by the $J/\psi$ 007 experiment and GlueX collaboration, and find that the $\xi$-scaling of the measured differential cross sections is consistent with the asymptotic behavior. However, the current data are not accurate enough yet for a complete determination of the gluonic GFFs, and therefore we consider some prospects for better extractions in the future., Comment: 16 pages, nine figures, journal version

We present an innovative approach to the linearly polarized gluons confined inside the unpolarized nucleon in lepton-nucleon scattering. Our method analyzes the correlation of energy flows at azimuthal separations $\phi$. The interference of the spinning gluon with both positive and negative helicities translates into a $\cos(2\phi)$ asymmetry imprinted on the detector. Unlike the conventional transverse momentum dependent (TMD) probes, the $\cos(2\phi)$ asymmetry in this approach is preserved by rotational symmetry, holds to all orders, and is free of radiation contamination, thus expected to provide the exquisite signature of the nucleon linearly polarized gluons., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures

Powerful relativistic jets are one of the ubiquitous features of accreting black holes in all scales. GRS 1915+105 is a well-known fast-spinning black-hole X-ray binary with a relativistic jet, termed as a ``microquasar'', as indicated by its superluminal motion of radio emission. It exhibits persistent x-ray activity over the last 30 years, with quasi-periodic oscillations of $\sim 1-10$ Hz and 34 and 67 Hz in the x-ray band. These oscillations likely originate in the inner accretion disk, but other origins have been considered. Radio observations found variable light curves with quasi-periodic flares or oscillations with periods of $\sim 20-50$ minutes. Here we report two instances of $\sim$5 Hz transient periodic oscillation features from the source detected in the 1.05-1.45 GHz radio band that occurred in January 2021 and June 2022, respectively. The Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor (HUBS) is a proposed space-based X-ray telescope for detecting X-ray emissions from the hot gas content in our universe. With its unprecedented spatially-resolved high-resolution spectroscopy and large field of view, the HUBS mission will be uniquely qualified to measure the physical and chemical properties of the hot gas in the interstellar medium, the circumgalactic medium, the intergalactic medium, and the intracluster medium. These measurements will be valuable for two key scientific goals of HUBS, namely to unravel the AGN and stellar feedback physics that governs the formation and evolution of galaxies, and to probe the baryon budget and multi-phase states from galactic to cosmological scales. In addition to these two goals, the HUBS mission will also help us solve some problems in the fields of galaxy clusters, AGNs, diffuse X-ray backgrounds, supernova remnants, and compact objects. We outline the physics opportunities provided by the Electron Ion Collider (EIC). These include the study of the parton structure of the nucleon and nuclei, the onset of gluon saturation, the production of jets and heavy flavor, hadron spectroscopy and tests of fundamental symmetries. We review the present status and future challenges in EIC theory that have to be addressed in order to realize this ambitious and impactful physics program, including how to engage a diverse and inclusive workforce. In order to address these many-fold challenges, we propose a coordinated effort involving theory groups with differing expertise is needed. We perform high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations using the framework of {\it MACER} to investigate supermassive black hole (SMBH) feeding and feedback in a massive compact galaxy, which has a small effective radius but a large stellar mass, with a simulation duration of 10 Gyr. We compare the results with a reference galaxy with a similar stellar mass but a less concentrated stellar density distribution, as typically found in local elliptical galaxies. We find that about 10% of the time, the compact galaxy develops multi-phase gas within a few kpc, but the accretion flow through the inner boundary below the Bondi radius is always a single phase. The inflow rate in the compact galaxy is several times larger than in the reference galaxy, mainly due to the higher gas density caused by the more compact stellar distribution. Such a higher inflow rate results in stronger SMBH feeding and feedback and a larger fountain-like inflow-outflow structure. Compared to the reference galaxy, the star formation rate in the compact galaxy is roughly two orders of magnitude higher but is still low enough to be considered quiescent. Over the whole evolution period, the black hole mass grows by $\sim$50% in the compact galaxy, much larger than the value of $\sim$ 3% in the reference galaxy., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

By calculating the dynamical structure factor along the high symmetry directions in the Brillouin zone, the dynamical excitations of attractive Fermi-Hubbard model in a two-dimensional square optical lattice are studied with random phase approximation. {Two kinds of collective modes are investigated, including a Goldstone phonon mode at transferred momentum ${\bf q}=\left[0,0\right]$ and a roton mode at ${\bf q}=\left[\pi,\pi\right]$. The phonon origins from the spontaneously U(1) symmetry breaking of pairing gap, and its speed is suppressed by the interaction strength. The collective roton mode origins from the breaking of a global pseudospin SU(2) symmetry.} Dynamical excitations at ${\bf q}=\left[\pi,\pi\right]$ consist of a sharp roton molecular peak in the low-energy region and a broad atomic excitation band in the higher energy region. Furthermore, the weight of the roton molecular peak decreases monotonically with increasing the hopping strength, while the weight of the atomic excitations increases quickly. Interestingly we check that the area covered by the roton molecular peak scales with the square of the pairing gap, which is also true in the system with spin-orbit coupling. This conclusion paves a potential way to measure the pairing gap of lattice system experimentally by measuring the dynamical structure factor at ${\bf q}=\left[\pi,\pi\right]$., Comment: 12 pages, 9 figures
