34. Solution-Processed Organic Light-Emitting Diodes of Yellow-Emitting PtAg2Complexes with an External Quantum Efficiency of 21.7%

Abstract

Yellow emission is a complementary color of blue for achieving white emission. Here, we report two yellow-emitting PtAg2heterotrinuclear complexes (1and 2) of 4-ethynyl-N,N-diphenylaniline, supported by bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)phenylphosphine (dpmp) and bis(di-o-tolylphosphinomethyl)phenylphosphine (dTolmp), respectively. The solution-processed organic light-emitting diode based on complex 1exhibits yellow emission peaked at 567 nm with the highest current efficiency (CE) of 49.7 cd A–1and an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 14.3%. Remarkably, the device performance of complex 2containing dTolmp with a larger steric hindrance as the supporting ligand is dramatically enhanced with the CE boosting to 69.1 cd A–1and EQE of 21.7% and, more importantly, a better color saturation of yellow emission peaked at 579 nm with the CIE of (0.49, 0.50).

35. Modulating the carrier transport of PtAg2 heteronuclear complexes to attain highly efficient OLEDs with narrow-band emission.

Abstract

High color purity with narrow-band emission is a key factor for full-color displays. However, phosphorescent metal complexes typically exhibit broad emission with a full width at half maxima (FWHM) in the range of 80–100 nm. Here, we demonstrate a facile approach to achieve narrow-band emission by introducing electron-deficient moieties with electron-transport character into PtAg2 heteronuclear complexes. The as-synthesized PtAg2 complex 3 with dibenzo[b,d]thiophene 5,5-dioxide-3-acetylide shows extremely narrow emission with an FWHM of 25 nm in CH2Cl2 solution. The narrow-band emission is further verified by another two PtAg2 complexes containing electron-transport units such as oxadiazole (complex 4) and triphenyl-triazine (complex 5), in which the FWHM values are 26 nm for 4 and 28 nm for 5 in CH2Cl2 solution. TD-DFT studies suggest that the involvement of intra-ligand transition within an electron-deficient acetylide ligand is likely responsible for the narrow-band emission. Solution-processed OLEDs based on complex 4 exhibit excellent device performance with an FWHM of 37 nm in the electroluminescent spectrum and the highest current efficiency (CE) of 69.5 cd A−1, power efficiency (PE) of 50.5 lm W−1 and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 18.2%. The narrow-band electroluminescence is also attained in complexes 3 and 5 with the FWHM values of 31 and 40 nm, respectively, which represent the narrowest electroluminescence for multinuclear metal complexes. Abstract

Background and Objectives: Currently, there is a serious need to find practical biomarker(s) for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) therapeutic target(s). This study aimed to investigate the association between microRNA (miRNA, miR) expression level in Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) and symptomatology improvement in MDD patients before and after six-week antidepressant treatment. Methods: By using an Affymetrix array that covers 723 human miRNAs, 26 miRNAs were identified with significantly altered expression in PBMCs in MDD patients, of which 10 miRNAs were selected for quantitative real-time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) study. Twenty out of all the 81 MDD patients were selected for miRNA expression levels testing and symptomatology assessments before and after six-week treatment. Results: Compared with the control group, the expression levels of miR-26b, miR-4743, miR-4498, miR-4485 and miR-1972 of the MDD group were significantly higher (P < 0.05); the changes of expression levels of miR-4743, miR-4498, miR-4485 and miR-1972 were positively related to retardation improvement (P < 0.05), and the change of expression level of miR-26b negatively to the improvement of day and night change (P < 0.05); regression analysis result demonstrated that the alteration of miR-4485 expression accounted for 28.8% of retardation improvement (P < 0.05). Conclusions: These five miRNAs (miR-4743, miR-4498, miR-4485, miR-1972 and miR-26b) may serve as biomarker for MDD diagnosis and therapeutic targets for MDD treatment.

43. Elaborate Design of d8–d10Heteronuclear Phosphors for Ultrahigh-Efficiency Solution-Processed Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Abstract

Highly soluble d8–d10heteronuclear phosphors afford an alternative approach to achieve high-efficiency organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) through a solution process. In this work, four highly phosphorescent d8–d10heteronuclear complexes with significant Pt–Au interactions were prepared. By judicious selection of sterically hindered and π-conjugated substituents in triphosphine ligands, the phosphorescence is dramatically promoted through effectively prohibiting nonradiative thermal relaxation with an efficiency of 0.94–0.99 in doping films. Exploiting highly emissive Pt–Au complexes as phosphorescent dopants, ultrahigh-efficiency solution-processed OLEDs were attained. The peak current efficiency, power efficiency, and external quantum efficiency are 96.2 cd A–1, 65.0 lm W–1, and 26.4% for the green-emitting PtAu2phosphor and 68.6 cd A–1, 42.5 lm W–1, and 25.1% for the orange-emitting Pt2Au phosphor, which represent the state-of-art for solution-processed OLEDs based on non-iridium phosphors.

44. Metal Complexes with a Hexadentate Macrocyclic Diamine-Tetracarbene Ligand

Abstract

A hexadentate macrocyclic N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligand precursor (H4L)(PF6)4containing four benzimidazolium and two secondary amine groups, has been synthesized and characterized. Coordination chemistry of this new macrocyclic diamine-tetracarbene ligand has been studied by the synthesis of its Ag(I), Au(I), Ni(II), and Pd(II) complexes. Reactions of (H4L)(PF6)4with different equiv of Ag2O result in Ag(I) complexes [Ag(H2L)](PF6)3(1) and [Ag2(H2L)](PF6)4(2). A mononuclear Au(I) complex [Au(H2L)](PF6)3(3) and a trinuclear Au(I) complex [Au3(H2L)(Cl)2](PF6) (4) are obtained by transmetalation of 1and 2with AuCl(SMe2), respectively. Reactions of (H4L)(PF6)4with Ni(OAc)2and Pd(OAc)2in the presence of NaOAc yield [Ni(L)](PF6)2(5) and [Pd(L)](PF6)2(6), respectively, containing one Ni(II) and Pd(II) ion with distorted square-planar geometry. Using more NaOAc results in the formation of unusual dinuclear complexes [Ni2(L–2H)](PF6)2(7) and [Pd2(L–2H)](PF6)2(8) (L–2H = deprotonated ligand after removing two H+ions from two secondary amine groups in L), respectively, featuring a rare M2N2core formed by two bridging amides. 7is also formed by the reaction of 5with 1.0 equiv of Ni(OAc)2·4H2O in the presence of NaOAc. Transmetalation of 2with 2.0 equiv of Ni(PPh3)2Cl2gives [Ni2(L)(μ-O)](PF6)2(9), the first example of a dinuclear Ni(II) complex with a singly bridging oxo group. 9is converted to 7in good yield through the treatment with NaOAc.

45. Substituent steric effect boosting phosphorescence efficiency of PtCu2 complexes.

Abstract

We describe herein a viable approach to enhance phosphorescence efficiency in PtCu2 complexes with aromatic acetylides by the use of bis(di-2-tolylphosphinomethyl)phenylphosphine (dTolmp) in place of bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)-phenylphosphine (dpmp) as a supporting ligand. Relative to dpmp-supported PtCu2 complexes, dTolmp-supported complexes having the same acetylide ligands show not only a 16–36 nm red-shift of the emission peaks, but also a dramatic phosphorescence enhancement. The phosphorescence quantum yields of dTolmp-supported PtCu2 complexes are boosted to 6.6 and 11.6 times as high as those of the dpmp-supported ones in CH2Cl2 solutions and the solid state, respectively. From dpmp to dTolmp, introducing sterically hindered 2-methyl groups to phenyl rings not only improves the π-conjugation character of PtCu2 complexes, but also effectively inhibits the deactivation process of the triplet excited state through non-radiative relaxation. The phosphorescence properties were systematically modulated in a wide spectral range from 502 to 672 nm by introducing electron-donating or electron-withdrawing substituents into aromatic acetylides.
