The aim of this real-world study was to evaluate whether nebulized budesonide (NBS) could also be used as an initial treatment for AECOPD.Patients and methods: AECOPD patients initially treated with NBS or SCS (oral/intravenous) were enrolled. A large-scale, long-term multicenter cohort study of AECOPD patients was performed to analyze outcomes for each treatment (NCT02051166).Results: Initial NBS and SCS treatment resulted in similar outcomes in terms of improvements in FEV1, PaO2, SaO2, and PaCO2. Disease severity affected outcome similarly in both groups. When the groups were stratified according to whether the initial treatment was subsequently intensified or reduced, more intubation was seen in the groups in which initial treatment was intensified. NBS escalation and SCS reduction groups spent more days in the hospital. The NBS escalation group was associated with the highest medical expenditure and a relatively higher rate of new-onset pneumonia. The NBS maintenance/reduction group showed the lowest mortality rate between groups. Stratification according to initial PaCO2 level showed more intubation in the groups with high initial PaCO2 concentrations.Conclusion: These results indicate that NBS may be used as an initial treatment in certain AECOPD patients, and further studies are needed to better define those most likely to benefit.Keywords: nebulized budesonide, systemic corticosteroids, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, AECOPD

The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of ternary all-small-molecule organic solar cells (T-ASM-OSCs) differs significantly from that of the polymer systems (2 %), and the role of third component remains unclear. The electron donor of coumarin derivatives with simple structure and strong and broad light absorption has high PCE for T-ASM-OSCs composed of non-fullerene acceptors (Y6 and DBTBT-IC). Here, we calculated the electronic structure and interfacial properties of the binary C1-CN:Y6 and ternary C1-CN:Y6:DBTBT-IC systems using molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and density functional theory (DFT) to explore the role of the third component (DBTBT-IC). The addition of the third component mainly facilitates the different stacking patterns of the host system in ternary OSCs, optimizes the charge transfer properties, enhances the light absorption, generates more CT pathways and significantly promotes the charge separation for unfavorable stacking patterns. While the guest system composed of C1-CN:DBTBT-IC also leads to the ternary system with more stable stacking patterns and low exciton binding energy. The renin-angiotensin system (RAS), composed mainly of renin, angiotensin, and aldosterone, is a key endocrine pathway involved in cardiovascular activity regulation. Under physiological conditions, the RAS plays a vital role in water and salt metabolism, blood pressure regulation, and electrolyte balance. Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the most important active component of the RAS, and its receptors are concentrated in vascular, pulmonary, cardiac, and renal tissues in vivo. Moreover, Ang II is closely associated with the development of vascular lesions. Ang II expression is closely associated with atherosclerosis, aortic aneurysm/dissection, ischemic stroke, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Given the significant pathophysiological role of Ang II in vascular diseases and the availability of advanced detection methods, Ang II holds promise as a reliable biomarker and therapeutic target in clinical settings. Background: Within the tumor microenvironment, survival pressures are prevalent with potent drivers of tumor progression, angiogenesis, and therapeutic resistance. N6-methyladenosine (m 6 A) methylation has been recognized as a critical post-transcriptional mechanism regulating various aspects of mRNA metabolism. Understanding the intricate interplay between survival pressures and m 6 A modification provides new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression and highlights the potential for targeting the survival pressures-m 6 A axis in HCC diagnosis and treatment., Data Sources: A literature search was conducted in PubMed, MEDLINE, and Web of Science for relevant articles published up to April 2024. The keywords used for the search included hepatocellular carcinoma, cellular survival, survival pressure, N6-methyladenosine, tumor microenvironment, stress response, and hypoxia., Results: This review delves into the multifaceted roles of survival pressures and m 6 A RNA methylation in HCC, highlighting how survival pressures modulate the m 6 A landscape, the impact of m 6 A modification on survival pressure-responsive gene expression, and the consequent effects on HCC cell survival, proliferation, metastasis, and resistance to treatment. Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is an efficient treatment with unlimited potential for liver cancer that can effectively reduce patient mortality. Understanding the biological process related with RFA treatment is important for improving treatment strategy. This study aimed to identify the critical targets for regulating the efficacy of RFA., Methods: The RFA treatment in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumor models in vivo, was analyzed by RNA sequencing technology. The heat treatment in vitro for HCC tumor cells was also constructed to explore the mechanism after RFA treatment in tumor cells. Nanoparticles with high affinity to tumor cells were applied as a new therapy to interfere with the expression of maternal embryonic leucine zipper kinase (MELK)., Results: It was found that RFA treatment upregulated MELK expression, and MELK inhibition promoted RFA efficacy by immunogenic cell death and the antitumor response, including anti-tumoral macrophage polarization and increased CD8 + T cell cytotoxicity in HCC. Mechanically, MELK binds to fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5), and affects its ubiquitination through the K48R pathway to increase its stability, thereby activating protein kinase B (Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling axis to weaken the RFA-mediated antitumor effect. In addition, the synthesis of arginylglycylaspartic acid (RGD)-lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) targeting tumor cell-intrinsic MELK enhanced RFA efficacy in HCC., Conclusion: MELK is a therapeutic target by regulating RFA efficacy in HCC, and targeting MELK via RGD-LNPs provides new insight into improving RFA efficacy in HCC clinical treatment and combating the malignant progression of liver cancer., Competing Interests: Declarations. Ternary solar cells have been rapidly developed in the realm of organic solar cells (OSCs). The incorporation of a third component into a cell results in a complicated active layer morphology, and the relation of this morphology to power conversion efficiency remains elusive. In this work, two ternary active layers, B1:Y7 (10 wt%):BO-4Cl and B1:Y7 (50 wt%):BO-4Cl are constructed, and the reasons for the differences in PCE caused by varying the Y7 content are investigated using theoretical calculations. Firstly, four groups of binary complexes (B1:BO-4Cl-10 wt%, B1:BO-4Cl-50 wt%, B1:Y7-10 wt%, B1:Y7-50 wt%) were examined using molecular dynamics simulation and the stacking patterns of the complexes could mainly be categorized into three groups (IC-T, IC-BDT, IC-RHD). The results showed that with an increase of the Y7 content, the proportion of IC-T stacking decreased while IC-BDT stacking increased. Moreover, the properties of each stacking pattern were calculated and IC-T stacking was found to have a greater charge separation coupling and rate, and a smaller interaction energy. With more IC-T stacking, the number of charge transfer (CT) states and CT mechanisms in B1:BO-4Cl-10 wt% and B1:Y7-10 wt% improves the PCE of B1:Y7 (10 wt%):BO-4Cl. For the trimers, a greater number of CT states and CT pathways can also facilitate efficient charge separation in B1:Y7 (10 wt%):BO-4Cl. Additionally, this work provides basic knowledge of the influence that the third component content on cell performance, providing theoretical instruction for experimental work based on Y-series non-fullerene acceptor materials.

The performance of organic solar cell (OSC) devices has been significantly enhanced by the dramatic evolution of A-D-A type non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs). Nevertheless, the structure-property-performance relationship of NFAs in the OSC device is unclear. Here, the intrinsic design factors of isomeric, fluorination and π-conjunction curtailing on the photophysical properties of benzodi (thienopyran) (BDTP) (named NBDTP-M, NBDTTP-M, NBDTP-F in , and NBDTP-F out )-based NFAs are discussed. The results show that fluorination on the terminal group of NBDTP-F out could effectively decrease the highest occupied orbital (HOMO) energy level and the lowest unoccupied orbital (LUMO) energy level. And the long π-conjugated donor unit for NBDTTP-M could increase the HOMO energy level and bring a small HOMO-LUMO energy bandgap. Meanwhile, the substitution of external oxygen atoms and the fluorine atoms in the terminal group could introduce positive changes to the electrostatic potential of the NBDTP-F out , favouring the charge separation at the donor/acceptor interface. Moreover, the structural design of external oxygen atom substitution, fluorination on the terminal group and curtailed π-conjugated donor unit could decrease the electron vibration-coupling of exciton diffusion, exciton dissociation and electronic transfer processes. Objective: Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) is a commonly used biomarker for assessing kidney function and neuroendocrine activity. Previous studies have indicated that elevated BUN levels are associated with increased mortality in various critically ill patient populations. The focus of this study was to investigate the relationship between BUN and 28-day mortality in intensive care patients., Methods: This was a multi-centre retrospective cohort study that made use of data from the eICU Collaborative Research Database. The primary exposure variable was BUN, and the outcome was 28-day mortality. The following variables were included as covariates: age, gender, BMI, white blood cell count, creatinine, GCS score, APACHE IV score, and diabetes. The statistical analyses included univariate and multivariate logistic regression, as well as generalized additive modelling, which was employed to assess the non-linear relationship between BUN and mortality., Results: A total of 63,757 elderly patients were included in the study, with a 28-day mortality of 6.5%. The univariate analysis indicated that elevated BUN quartiles were associated with an increased risk of mortality. The results of the multivariate analysis further confirmed the non-linear relationship between BUN and mortality. When BUN was less than 32 mg/dL, there was a significant positive association, with an adjusted odds ratio of 1.230 (95% CI: 1.154-1.311, p<0.0001) for every 10 mg/dL increase in BUN. However, when BUN was greater than or equal to 32 mg/dL, BUN level had no significant effect on mortality., Conclusion: BUN showed a nonlinear, threshold correlation with 28-day mortality in critically ill patients. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs) devices has surpassed 19% owing to the blooming of fused-ring nonfullerene acceptors (NFAs), especially for acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) type NFAs. However, the structural effect of the angular/linear fusion mode and number of fused rings for A-D-A type NFAs on the photovoltaic performance in OSCs devices remains unclear. Herein, the A-D-A type NFAs ( F-0Cl , IDIC8-H , and ITIC ) have been selected to obtain the intrinsic role of structural design strategies including the angular/linear fusion mode and the number of fused rings. The results indicate that compared to the linear fusion mode in ITIC , the angular fusion mode in F-0Cl effectively diminishes electronic vibrational coupling within the low-frequency range, leading to lower charge reorganization during the exciton diffusion process. Meanwhile, it facilitates the generation of multiple charge transfer mechanisms at the donor/acceptor (D/A) interface and increases the rates of hole transfer. On the other hand, the decreased number of fused rings of NFAs could inhibit the exciton decay and charge recombination but increase the rates of exciton diffusion and exciton dissociation for individual NFAs and the rates of electron separation for D/A interface. This work provides theoretical insights into structural design strategies, such as linear/angular fusion, and the number of fused rings of NFA, which presents a promising outlook for further enhancing PCE of high-performance A-D-A type NFAs.

Measuring deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) on the neutron is one of the necessary steps to understand the structure of the nucleon in terms of generalized parton distributions (GPDs). Neutron targets play a complementary role to transversely polarized proton targets in the determination of the GPD E. This poorly known and poorly constrained GPD is essential to obtain the contribution of the quarks' angular momentum to the spin of the nucleon. DVCS on the neutron was measured for the first time selecting the exclusive final state by detecting the neutron, using the Jefferson Lab longitudinally polarized electron beam, with energies up to 10.6 GeV, and the CLAS12 detector. The extracted beam-spin asymmetries, combined with DVCS observables measured on the proton, allow a clean quark-flavor separation of the imaginary parts of the Compton form factors H and E.

Chromatin remodeling, carried out by four major subfamilies of ATP-dependent remodeler complexes across eukaryotes, alleviates the topological challenge posed by nucleosomes to regulate genome access. Recently, single-molecule and single-cell imaging techniques have been widely employed to probe this crucial process, both in vitro and in cellulo. Herein, we provide an integrated account of key recent efforts that leverage these approaches to visualize, quantify and map chromatin remodelers at work, elucidating diverse aspects of the remodeling process in both space and time, including molecular mechanisms of DNA wrapping/unwrapping, nucleosome translocation and histone exchange, dynamics of chromatin binding/target search and their intranuclear organization into hotspots or phase condensates, as well as functional coupling with transcription. Tumor suppressor protein BRCA2 acts with RAD51 in replication-fork protection (FP) and homology-directed DNA break repair (HDR). Critical for cancer etiology and therapy resistance, BRCA2 C-terminus was thought to stabilize RAD51-filaments after they assemble on single-stranded (ss)DNA. Here we determined the detailed crystal structure for BRCA2 C-terminal interaction-domain (TR2i) with ATP-bound RAD51 prior to DNA binding. In contrast to recombinogenic RAD51-filaments comprising extended ATP-bound RAD51 dimers, TR2i unexpectedly reshapes ATP-RAD51 into a unique dimer conformation accommodating double-stranded B-DNA binding unsuited for HDR initiation. Structural, biochemical, and molecular results with interface-guided mutations uncover TR2i's FP mechanism. Proline-driven secondary-structure stabilizes residue triads and spans the RAD51 dimer engaging pivotal interactions of RAD51 M210 and BRCA2 S3291/P3292, the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) phosphorylation site that toggles between FP during S-phase and HDR in G2. TR2i evidently acts as an allosteric clamp switching RAD51 from ssDNA to double-stranded and B-DNA binding enforcing FP over HDR.

Despite their prevalent cancer implications, the in vivo dynamics of SWI/SNF chromatin remodelers and how misregulation of such dynamics underpins cancer remain poorly understood. Using live-cell single-molecule tracking, we quantify the intranuclear diffusion and chromatin-binding of three key subunits common to all major human SWI/SNF remodeler complexes (BAF57, BAF155 and BRG1), and resolve two temporally distinct stable binding modes for the fully assembled complex. Super-resolved density mapping reveals heterogeneous, nanoscale remodeler binding "hotspots" across the nucleoplasm where multiple binding events (especially longer-lived ones) preferentially cluster. Importantly, we uncover distinct roles of the bromodomain in modulating chromatin binding/targeting in a DNA-accessibility-dependent manner, pointing to a model where successive longer-lived binding within "hotspots" leads to sustained productive remodeling. Finally, systematic comparison of six common BRG1 mutants implicated in various cancers unveils alterations in chromatin-binding dynamics unique to each mutant, shedding insight into a multi-modal landscape regulating the spatio-temporal organizational dynamics of SWI/SNF remodelers., (© 2024. Compressing the optical field to the atomic scale opens up possibilities for directly observing individual molecules, offering innovative imaging and research tools for both physical and life sciences. However, the diffraction limit imposes a fundamental constraint on how much the optical field can be compressed, based on the achievable photon momentum 1,2 . In contrast to dielectric structures, plasmonics offer superior field confinement by coupling the light field with the oscillations of free electrons in metals 3-6 . Nevertheless, plasmonics suffer from inherent ohmic loss, leading to heat generation, increased power consumption and limitations on the coherence time of plasmonic devices 7,8 . Here we propose and demonstrate singular dielectric nanolasers showing a mode volume that breaks the optical diffraction limit. Derived from Maxwell's equations, we discover that the electric-field singularity sustained in a dielectric bowtie nanoantenna originates from divergence of momentum. The singular dielectric nanolaser is constructed by integrating a dielectric bowtie nanoantenna into the centre of a twisted lattice nanocavity. The synergistic integration surpasses the diffraction limit, enabling the singular dielectric nanolaser to achieve an ultrasmall mode volume of about 0.0005 λ 3 (λ, free-space wavelength), along with an exceptionally small feature size at the 1-nanometre scale. To fabricate the required dielectric bowtie nanoantenna with a single-nanometre gap, we develop a two-step process involving etching and atomic deposition. Our research showcases the ability to achieve atomic-scale field localization in laser devices, paving the way for ultra-precise measurements, super-resolution imaging, ultra-efficient computing and communication, and the exploration of light-matter interactions within the realm of extreme optical field localization., (© 2024. Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) must have both long cycle life and calendar life to be commercially viable. However, "trial and error" methodologies remain prevalent in contemporary research endeavors to identify favorable electrolytes. Here, a guiding principle for the selection of solvents for LMBs is proposed, which aims to achieve high Coulombic efficiency while minimizing the corrosion. For the first time, this study reveals that the dipole moment and orientation of solvent molecules have significant impacts on lithium metal reversibility and corrosion. Solvents with high dipole moments are more likely to adsorb onto lithium metal surfaces, which also influence the solid electrolyte interphase. Using this principle, the use of LiNO 3 is demonstrated as the sole salt in LiNi 0.8 Co 0.1 Mn 0.1 O 2 /Li cells can achieve excellent cycling stability. Overall, this work bridges the molecular structure of solvents to the reversibility and corrosion of lithium metal, and these concepts can be extended to other metal-based batteries., (© 2024 The Author(s). Immunodeficiency can disrupt normal physiological activity and function. In this study, donkey bone collagen peptide (DP) and its iron chelate (DPI) were evaluated their potential as immunomodulators in cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan ® , CTX)-induced Balb/c mice. The femoral tissue, lymphocytes, and serum from groups of mice were subjected to hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) cell proliferation assays, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), respectively. Furthermore, a non-targeted metabolomics analysis based on UPLC-MS/MS and a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) technology were used to explore the specific metabolic pathways of DPI regulating immunocompromise. The results showed that CTX was able to significantly reduce the proliferative activity of mouse splenic lymphocytes and led to abnormal cytokine expression. After DP and DPI interventions, bone marrow tissue damage was significantly improved. In particular, DPI showed the ability to regulate the levels of immune factors more effectively than Fe 2+ and DP. Furthermore, metabolomic analysis in both positive and negative ion modes showed that DPI and DP jointly regulated the levels of 20 plasma differential metabolites, while DPI and Fe 2+ jointly regulated 14, and all 3 jointly regulated 10. Fe 2+ and DP regulated energy metabolism and pyrimidine metabolism pathways, respectively. In contrast, DPI mainly modulated the purine salvage pathway and the JAK/STAT signaling pathway, which are the key to immune function. Therefore, DPI shows more effective immune regulation than Fe 2+ and DP alone, and has good application potential in improving immunosuppression.

Objective: To explore the efficacy of venetoclax-based induction regimen for children with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods: Children with newly diagnosed AML in Beijing Children's Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University and Baoding Hospital Affliliated to Capital Medical University from November 2019 and December 2023 were prospectively included. The patients were divided into DAH group (daunorubicin, cytarabine and homoharringtonine) and VAH group (venetoclax, cytarabine and homoharringtonine) according to induction regimen. The clinical data of the children were collected, the clinical characteristics and induced remission rate between the two groups were compared, and multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the related factors affecting the induced remission rate. Results: A total of 135 patients were enrolled, including 96 cases in the DAH group (54 males and 42 females), aged [ M ( Q 1 , Q 3 )] 6.4 (3.9, 11.6) years and 39 cases in the VAH group (26 males and 13 females), aged 8.0 (6.2, 13.2) years. Among patients initially diagnosed with low-medium risk AML, the morphologic complete remission rates were 94.7% (18/19) in the VAH group and 84.4% (38/45) in the DAH group, respectively, and the negativity conversion rates of minirnal residual disease (MRD) were 57.9% (11/19) and 46.7% (21/45), respectively, with no statistically difference (all P >0.05). Among patients initially diagnoised with high-risk AML, the morphologic complete remission rates in the VAH group was higher than that in the DAH group [95.0% (19/20) vs 70.6% (36/51), P =0.027], and negativity conversion rates of MRD were 45.0% (9/20) and 33.3% (17/51), respectively, with no statistically difference ( P =0.359). The induction regimen (venetoclax, cytarabine and homoharringtonin) was beneficial to morphological remission ( OR =0.126, 95% CI : 0.025-0.629). FLT3 mutation was not conducive to morphological remission ( OR =5.832, 95% CI : 1.778-19.124) and negative MRD ( OR =4.166, 95%CI: 1.396-12.433). Conclusion: Venetoclax-based induction regimen is more effective than traditional chemotherapy regimen for newly diagnosed pediatric AML.

The all-fused-ring acceptor (AFRA) is a success for nonfullerene materials and has attracted considerable attention as its high optical and chemical stability expected to reduce energy loss, and power conversion efficiency (PCE) approaching 15% in constructed all-small-molecule organic solar cells (OSCs). Herein, the intrinsic role of the structure of AFRA F13 and the reason for its high PCE were revealed by comparison with those of typical fused acceptors IDT-IC and Y6 . An increased degree of conjugation in F13 leads to broader and red-shifted absorption peaks, facilitating enhancement of the short-circuit current. Multiple charge-transfer mechanisms are mainly attributed to the higher Frenkel exciton (FE) state due to the multiple transition ways for acceptors in the C1-CN:F13 system. The increased number of atoms contributing to the charge-transfer (CT) state facilitated the existence of more superior stacking patterns with easy formation of CT and FE/CT states and a high charge separation rate. It was found using the AFRA is an effective strategy to enhance end-group stacking, enhancing the borrowing of oscillator strength to promote multiple CT mechanisms in the complexes, explaining the high performance of this OSC device. This work is promising to guide designing an efficient AFRA in the future.

Climate change and human activity are essential factors affecting marine biodiversity and aquaculture, and understanding the impacts of human activities on the genetic structure to increasing high temperatures is crucial for sustainable aquaculture and marine biodiversity conservation. As a commercially important bivalve, the Manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum is widely distributed along the coast of China, and it has been frequently introduced from Fujian Province, China, to other regions for aquaculture. In this study, we collected four populations of Manila clams from different areas to evaluate their thermal tolerance by measuring cardiac performance and genetic variations using whole-genome resequencing. The upper thermal limits of the clams showed high variations within and among populations. Different populations displayed divergent genetic compositions, and the admixed population was partly derived from the Zhangzhou population in Fujian Province, implying a complex genomic landscape under the influence of local genetic sources and human introductions. Multiple single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were associated with the cardiac functional traits, and some of these SNPs can affect the codon usage and the structural stability of the resulting protein. This paper discusses the etiology and pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis with kidney deficiency and blood stasis in Chinese medicine, expounds the significance of "brain-heart-kidney-essence chamber" axis of medication, and explores the specific value and clinical application of Xiongji Formula.

Liver fibrosis is a critical factor in the advancement of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease towards cirrhosis. There is limited research exploring the association between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and liver fibrosis among community populations. The present study aimed to assess the association between sleep apnea (SA) and liver fibrosis based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Data were acquired from NHANES survey cycle 2017 to 2020. We assessed liver fibrosis by the median values of liver stiffness measurement (LSM). The diagnosis of SA was based on participants' response to sleep questionnaire. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to validate the association of SA and liver fibrosis. A total of 7615 participants were included in this study. The LSM level of SA group was significantly higher than non-SA group. The proportion of liver fibrosis in SA group was markedly higher than that in non-SA group (14.0% vs 7.3%, P < .001). Univariate logistic analysis showed that SA was positively associated with liver fibrosis (OR = 2.068, 95%CI = 1.715-2.494, P < .001). Further multivariate logistic analysis revealed that SA was independently associated with increased risk of liver fibrosis after adjusting for confounding factors (OR = 1.277, 95%CI = 1.003-1.625, P = .048). The dynamic adhesion between cells and their extracellular matrix is essential for the development and function of organs. During insect wing development, two epithelial sheets contact each other at their basal sites through the interaction of βPS integrins with the extracellular matrix. We report that Osiris17 contributes to the maintenance of βPS integrins localization and function in developing wing of Drosophila and locust. In flies with reduced Osiris17 expression the epithelia sheets fail to maintain the integrity of basal cytoplasmic junctional bridges and basal adhesion. In contrast to the continuous basal integrin localization in control wings, this localization is disrupted during late stages of wing development in Osiris17 depleted flies. In addition, the subcellular localization revealed that Osiris17 co-localizes with the endosomal markers Rab5 and Rab11. This observation suggests an involvement of Osiris17 in endosomal recycling of integrins. Indeed, Osiris17 depletion reduced the numbers of Rab5 and Rab11 positive endosomes. Moreover, overexpression of Osiris17 increased co-localization of Rab5 and βPS integrins and partially rescued the detachment phenotype in flies with reduced βPS integrins. Introduction: Pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) was involved in the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease (CAD). We tested whether plasma PKM2 concentrations were correlated with clinical severity and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in CAD patients., Materials and Methods: A total of 2443 CAD patients and 238 controls were enrolled. The follow-up time was two years. Plasma PKM2 concentrations were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits (Cloud-Clone, Wuhan, China) using SpectraMax i3x Multi-Mode Microplate Reader (Molecular Devices, San Jose, USA). The predictors of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) were assessed by logistic regression analysis. The association between PKM2 concentration in different quartiles and MACEs was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier (KM) curves with log-rank test and Cox proportional hazard models. The predictive value of PKM2 and a cluster of conventional risk factors was determined by Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. The net reclassification improvement (NRI) and the integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) were utilized to evaluate the enhancement in risk prediction when PKM2 was added to a predictive model containing a cluster of conventional risk factors., Results: In CAD patients, PKM2 concentration was the independent predictor of ACS (P < 0.001). Kaplan-Meier cumulative survival curves and Cox proportional hazards analyses revealed that patients with a higher PKM2 concentration had higher incidence of MACEs compared to those with a lower PKM2 concentration (P < 0.001). Introduction: Objective: the Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score is an objective tool widely used to assess nutritional status of patients. We aimed to investigate the value of CONUT score on predicting length of hospital stay (LOS) and the risk of long COVID in patients with COVID-19. Methods: a total of 151 patients with COVID-19 were enrolled for analysis. Patients were followed up for two years from three months after the onset of SARS-CoV-2 infection. CONUT score was calculated on admission. The correlation between CONUT score and LOS were assessed by Spearman's rank correlation coefficient and multivariate linear analysis. The association between different CONUT grade and long COVID was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier survival curves with log-rank test and Cox proportional hazard models. Results: Spearman's rank correlation coefficient showed that CONUT scores were positively correlated with LOS (r = 0.469, p < 0.001). Multivariate linear analysis showed that CONUT score is the only independent determinant of LOS (B 2.055, 95 % CI: 1.067-3.043, p < 0.001). A total of 53 (35.10 %) patients with long COVID were identified. Kaplan-Meier cumulative survival curves and Cox proportional hazards analyses showed that the incidence of long COVID in patients with a higher CONUT score was significantly higher than in patients with lower CONUT score (p < 0.001). Conclusions: higher CONUT score predicts longer LOS and the risk of long COVID in patients with COVID-19. The CONUT score might be useful for risk stratification in COVID-19 patients and help to develop new nutritional treatment strategies for long COVID.

Unicorn lotus is a plant tuber in the araceae family, which has therapeutic effects such as dispelling cold and dampness, dispelling wind and phlegm, and treating stroke. However, acute poisoning of fresh Unicorn lotus has been rarely reported domestically and internationally. This article reports a case of poisoning caused by chewing unicorn lotus. The patient experienced numbness in the lips, swelling and rupture of the oral cavity, continuous salivation, difficulty swallowing and obvious burning sensation in the throat, accompanied by shortness of breath and mild hypoxemia. After receiving comprehensive treatments such as oxygen therapy, electrocardiographic monitoring, cleaning of necrotic oral mucosa, anti infection, inhibition of oral salivary secretion, and nutritional support, the patient finally recovered and was discharged.

Objective: The transjugular or transfemoral approach is used as a common method for hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) measurement in current practice. This study aims to confirm the safety and effectiveness of measuring HVPG via the forearm venous approach. Methods: Prospective recruitment was conducted for patients with cirrhosis who underwent HVPG measurement via the forearm venous approach at six hospitals in China and Japan from September 2020 to December 2020. Patients' clinical baseline information and HVPG measurement data were collected. The right median cubital vein or basilic vein approach for all enrolled patients was selected. The HVPG standard process was used to measure pressure. Research data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 statistical software. Quantitative data were used to represent medians (interquartile ranges), while qualitative data were used to represent frequency and rates. The correlation between two sets of data was analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis. Results: A total of 43 cases were enrolled in this study. Of these, 41 (95.3%) successfully underwent HVPG measurement via the forearm venous approach. None of the patients had any serious complications. The median operation time for HVPG detection via forearm vein was 18.0 minutes (12.3~38.8 minutes). This study confirmed that HVPG was positively closely related to Child-Pugh score ( r = 0.47, P = 0.002), albumin-bilirubin score ( r = 0.37, P = 0.001), Lok index ( r = 0.36, P = 0.02), liver stiffness ( r = 0.58, P = 0.01), and spleen stiffness ( r = 0.77, P = 0.01), while negatively correlated with albumin ( r = -0.42, P = 0.006). Conclusion: The results of this multi-centre retrospective study suggest that HVPG measurement via the forearm venous approach is safe and feasible.

Miniaturized lasers play a central role in the infrastructure of modern information society. The breakthrough in laser miniaturization beyond the wavelength scale has opened up new opportunities for a wide range of applications 1-4 , as well as for investigating light-matter interactions in extreme-optical-field localization and lasing-mode engineering 5-19 . An ultimate objective of microscale laser research is to develop reconfigurable coherent nanolaser arrays that can simultaneously enhance information capacity and functionality. However, the absence of a suitable physical mechanism for reconfiguring nanolaser cavities hinders the demonstration of nanolasers in either a single cavity or a fixed array. Here we propose and demonstrate moiré nanolaser arrays based on optical flatbands in twisted photonic graphene lattices, in which coherent nanolasing is realized from a single nanocavity to reconfigurable arrays of nanocavities. We observe synchronized nanolaser arrays exhibiting high spatial and spectral coherence, across a range of distinct patterns, including P, K and U shapes and the Chinese characters '' and '' ('China' in Chinese). Moreover, we obtain nanolaser arrays that emit with spatially varying relative phases, allowing us to manipulate emission directions. Background: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a common pulmonary injury among premature infants, which is often caused by hyperoxia exposure. Irisin is a novel hormone-like myokine derived mainly from skeletal muscles as well as adipose tissues. Many studies have indicated that Irisin exert a variety of properties against hyperoxia-induced inflammation and oxidative stress (OS). We aimed to evaluate the effects of irisin on hyperoxia-induced lung injury explore the underlying mechanisms., Methods: BPD model was established after exposing newborn mouse to 85% oxygen. BPD mouse received continuous intraperitoneal injection of irisin at a dose of 25 μg/kg/day. Lung tissues were collected for histological examination at 7 and 14 days after birth. The alveolarization and alveolar vascularization of each animal was assessed. Levels of oxidative stress indicators, and the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in lung tissues were detected at 14 days after birth., Results: Hyperoxia exposure induced a markedly alveolar simplification and a disrupted alveolar angiogenesis, which was ameliorated by irisin treatment. The hyperoxia-induced increase in these oxidative stress indicators was significantly reversed by irisin treatment. Recently, non-fullerene-based organic solar cells (OSCs) have made great breakthroughs, and small structural differences can have dramatic impacts on the power conversion efficiency (PCE). We take ITIC and its isomers as examples to study their effects on the performance of OSCs. ITIC and NFBDT only differed in the side chain position, and they were used as models with the same donor molecule, PBDB-T , to investigate the main reasons for the difference in their performance in terms of theoretical methods. In this work, a detailed comparative analysis of the electronic structure, absorption spectra, open circuit voltage and interfacial parameters of the ITIC and NFBDT systems was performed mainly by combining the density functional theory/time-dependent density functional theory and molecular dynamics simulations. The results showed that the lowest excited state of the ITIC molecule possessed a larger ∆ q and more hybrid FE/CT states, and PBDB-T/ITIC had more charge separation paths as well as a larger k CS and smaller k CR . The reason for the performance difference between PBDB-T/ITIC and PBDB-T/NFBDT was elucidated, suggesting that ITIC is a superior acceptor based on a slight modulation of the side chain and providing a guiding direction for the design of superior-performing small molecule acceptor materials.

Objectives: To explore the value of sympathetic skin response (SSR) in the early diagnosis and prognostic evaluation of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) in children., Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 25 children with GBS who were diagnosed from October 2018 to November 2022, and 30 children who were diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome during the same period were selected as the control group. The characteristics of SSR were compared between the two groups, and the association of SSR with autonomic dysfunction (AD), disease severity, and prognosis was analyzed., Results: The GBS group had a significantly higher abnormal rate of SSR than the control group during the acute phase ( P <0.001). SSR combined with early nerve conduction (within 2 weeks after onset) had a sensitivity of 84%, a specificity of 100%, and an accuracy of 93% in the diagnosis of GBS. There were no significant differences in the proportion of AD cases, as well as the Hughes scores during the disease peak, between the abnormal and normal SSR groups ( P >0.05). All 7 children with poor short-term prognosis (at 1 month after onset) had abnormal SSR., Conclusions: SSR can be used for the early diagnosis of GBS and the monitoring of treatment response in children.

The polarized cross-section ratio σ&#95;{LT^{'}}/σ&#95;{0} from hard exclusive π^{-}Δ^{++} electroproduction off an unpolarized hydrogen target has been extracted based on beam-spin asymmetry measurements using a 10.2  GeV/10.6  GeV incident electron beam and the CLAS12 spectrometer at Jefferson Lab. The study, which provides the first observation of this channel in the deep-inelastic regime, focuses on very forward-pion kinematics in the valence regime, and photon virtualities ranging from 1.5  GeV^{2} up to 7  GeV^{2}. The reaction provides a novel access to the d-quark content of the nucleon and to p→Δ^{++} transition generalized parton distributions. A comparison to existing results for hard exclusive π^{+}n and π^{0}p electroproduction is provided, which shows a clear impact of the excitation mechanism, encoded in transition generalized parton distributions, on the asymmetry.

Chronic prostatitis is a common disease in male clinics. The theory of "brain-centre-kidney-vessel" axisis based on the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine, the pathogenesis of modern men's diseases, and the theory of traditional Chinese medicine in men's medicine proposed by clinical practice. It takes the "brain-heart-kidney-vessel" axis as the entry point, the use of the vessel as the core pathogenesis, the meridians as the link, and the dysfunction of the brain, heart, and kidneys as the important conditions, and proposes that the biological basis between chronic prostatitis and the "brain-heart-kidney-vessel" axis is related to neurological, endocrine, and immunological disorders, as well as the biological basis of the "brain-heart-kidney-vessel" axis. It is also suggested that the biological basis between chronic prostatitis and the "brain-heart-kidney-sperm chamber" axis is related to the nerves, endocrine, immune and microenvironment. Through in-depth study of the biological basis of the "brain-cardiac-kidney-peritoneum" axis, we can better understand the pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis and provide reference for future clinical treatment.

Deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) allows one to probe generalized parton distributions describing the 3D structure of the nucleon. We report the first measurement of the DVCS beam-spin asymmetry using the CLAS12 spectrometer with a 10.2 and 10.6 GeV electron beam scattering from unpolarized protons. The results greatly extend the Q^{2} and Bjorken-x phase space beyond the existing data in the valence region and provide 1600 new data points measured with unprecedented statistical uncertainty, setting new, tight constraints for future phenomenological studies.

Glutamate ionotropic receptor kainate type subunit 3 (GRIK3) is a predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptor in the mammalian brain. While it is known that GRIK3 is involved in normal neurophysiologic processes, its biological functions in tumor progression are still poorly understood due to limited investigation. In this study, we reported for the first time that GRIK3 expression was downregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissues as compared to paracarcinoma tissues. Additionally, we observed that GRIK3 expression was strongly correlated with the prognosis of NSCLC patients. We also noted that GRIK3 suppressed the cell proliferation and migration capability of NSCLC cells, thereby inhibiting xenografts growth and metastasis. Mechanistically, GRIK3 deficiency increased the expression of ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 C (UBE2C) and cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1), which resulted in the activation of the Wnt signaling pathway and enhanced NSCLC progression.
