Abstract

Misconfigurations have become the dominant causes of software failures in recent years, drawing tremendous attention for their increasing prevalence and severity. Configuration constraints can preemptively avoid misconfiguration by defining the conditions that configuration options should satisfy. Documentation is the main source of configuration constraints, but it might be incomplete or inconsistent with the source code. In this regard, prior researches have focused on obtaining configuration constraints from software source code through static analysis. However, the difficulty in pointer analysis and context comprehension prevents them from collecting accurate and comprehensive constraints. In this paper, we observed that software logs often contain configuration constraints. We conducted an empirical study and summarized patterns of configuration-related log messages. Guided by the study, we designed and implemented ConfInLog, a static tool to infer configuration constraints from log messages. ConfInLog first selects configuration-related log messages from source code by using the summarized patterns, then infers constraints from log messages based on the summarized natural language patterns. To evaluate the effectiveness of ConfInLog, we applied our tool on seven popular open-source software systems. ConfInLog successfully inferred 22 to 163 constraints, in which 59.5% to 61.6% could not be inferred by the state-of-the-art work. Finally, we submitted 67 documentation patches regarding the constraints inferred by ConfInLog. The constraints in 29 patches have been confirmed by the developers, among which 10 patches have been accepted.

11. $L^p$ Neumann Problems in Homogenization of General Elliptic Systems

Abstract

In this paper, we extend the nontangential maximal function estimate obtained by C. Kenig, F. Lin and Z. Shen in \cite{KFS1} to the nonhomogeneous elliptic operators with rapidly oscillating periodic coefficients. The result relies on the previous work \cite{X2}, and optimal boundary estimates which is based upon certain estimates on convergence rates. Compared to the homogeneous case, the additional bootstrap process seems inevitable, and the Neumann boundary corrector caused by the lower order term are still useful here., Comment: 26 pages

12. The Methods of Layer Potentials for General Elliptic Homogenization Problems in Lipschitz Domains

Abstract

In terms of layer potential methods, this paper is devoted to study the $L^2$ boundary value problems for nonhomogeneous elliptic operators with rapidly oscillating coefficients in a periodic setting. Under a low regularity assumption on the coefficients, we establish the solvability for Dirichlet, regular and Neumann problems in a bounded Lipschitz domain, as well as, the uniform nontangential maximal function estimates and square function estimates. The main difficulty is reflected in two aspects: (i) we can not treat the lower order terms as a compact perturbation to the leading term due to the low regularity assumption; (ii) the nonhomogeneous systems do not possess a scaling-invariant property in general. Although this work may be regarded as a follow-up to C. Kenig and Z. Shen's in \cite{SZW24}, we make an effort to find a clear way of how to handle the nonhomogeneous operators by using the known results of the homogenous ones. 15. Quantitative Estimates in Homogenization of Parabolic Systems of Elasticity in Lipschitz Cylinders

Abstract

In a Lipschitz cylinder, this paper is devoted to establish an almost sharp error estimate $O(\varepsilon\log_2(1/\varepsilon))$ in $L^2$-norm for parabolic systems of elasticity with initial-Dirichlet conditions, arising in the homogenization theory. To achieve the goal, with the parabolic distance function being a weight, we first developed some new weighted-type inequalities for the smoothing operator at scale $\varepsilon$ in terms of t-anisotropic Sobolev spaces, and then all the problems may be reduced to three kinds of estimate for the homogenized system, in which a weighted-type Caccioppoli's inequality on time-layer has also been found. Throughout the paper, we do not introduce any smoothness on coefficients compared to the arguments investigated by C.Kenig, F. Lin and Z. Shen in \cite{SZW2}, while this study can be considered to be a further development of \cite{GZS} and \cite{QX2}., Comment: 37 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

This work studies a class of chemotaxis systems given by$ \begin{align*} \begin{cases} u_t = \Delta u-\nabla\cdot (uf(u)\nabla v)-u-g(u)w+\kappa, \\ v_t = \Delta v-v+g(u)w, \\ w_t = \Delta w-w+v, \end{cases} \end{align*} $under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions in smooth bounded n-dimensional domains, where $ \kappa\geq 0 $, $ f\in C^2([0, \infty)) $ satisfies $ |f(s)|\leq K_f(1+s)^{-\alpha} $ for all $ s\geq 0 $ with some $ K_f>0 $ and $ \alpha\in\mathbb{R} $, and $ g\in C^1([0, \infty)) $ is a nonnegative function satisfying $ g(0) = 0 $ and $ g(s)\leq K_g(1+s^{\beta}) $ for all $ s\geq 1 $ with $ K_g>0 $ and $ \beta\in \mathbb{R} $. Under the assumption that $ \beta<\frac{2}{n} $ $ (n\geq 2) $, it is shown that there exists $ \alpha_0 = \alpha_0(\beta)>0 $ such that if $ \alpha>-\alpha_0 $, then the system has a global classical solution which is uniformly bounded. 47. Increased Insular Connectivity and Enhanced Empathic Ability Associated with Dance/Music Training

Abstract

Dance and music are expressive art forms. Previous behavioural studies have reported that dancers/musicians show a better sensorimotor ability and emotional representation of others. However, the neural mechanism behind this phenomenon is not completely understood. Recently, intensive researches have identified that the insula is highly enrolled in the empathic process. Thus, to expand the knowledge of insular function associated with empathy under the dance/music training background, we mapped the insular network and its associated brain regions in 21 dancers, 20 musicians, and 24 healthy controls using resting-state functional connectivity (FC) analysis. Whole brain voxel-based analysis was performed using seeds from the posterior insula (PI), the ventral anterior insula (vAI), and the dorsal anterior insula (dAI). The training effects of dance and music on insular subnetworks were then evaluated using one-way analysis of variance ANOVA. Increased insular FC with those seeds was found in dancers/musicians, including PI and anterior cingulated cortex (ACC), vAI and middle temporal gyrus (MTG) and middle cingulated cortex (MCC), and dAI and ACC and MTG. In addition, significant associations were found between discrepant insular FC patterns and empathy scores in dancers and musicians. These results indicated that dance/music training might enhance insular subnetwork function, which would facilitate integration of intero/exteroceptive information and result in better affective sensitivity. Those changes might finally facilitate the subjects’ empathic ability.
