Radioembolization using Yttrium-90 (90 Y) microspheres is widely used to treat primary and metastatic liver tumors. The present work provides minimum practice guidelines for establishing and supporting such a program. Medical physicists play a key role in patient and staff safety during these procedures. Products currently available are identified and their properties and suppliers summarized. Appropriateness for use is the domain of the treating physician. Patient work up starts with pre-treatment imaging. First, a mapping study using Technetium-99m (Tc-99m ) is carried out to quantify the lung shunt fraction (LSF) and to characterize the vascular supply of the liver. An MRI, CT, or a PET-CT scan is used to obtain information on the tumor burden. The tumor volume, LSF, tumor histology, and other pertinent patient characteristics are used to decide the type and quantity of 90 Y to be ordered. On the day of treatment, the appropriate dose is assayed using a dose calibrator with a calibration traceable to a national standard. In the treatment suite, the care team led by an interventional radiologist delivers the dose using real-time image guidance. The treatment suite is posted as a radioactive area during the procedure and staff wear radiation dosimeters. The treatment room, patient, and staff are surveyed post-procedure. The dose delivered to the patient is determined from the ratio of pre-treatment and residual waste exposure rate measurements. Establishing such a treatment modality is a major undertaking requiring an institutional radioactive materials license amendment complying with appropriate federal and state radiation regulations and appropriate staff training commensurate with their respective role and function in the planning and delivery of the procedure. Training, documentation, and areas for potential failure modes are identified and guidance is provided to ameliorate them.

Rationale, Aims and Objectives: Clinical use of psychotropic medications involves diverse risks, addressable by nursing interventions. The research had a dual purpose: developing an "Evidence‐Based Medication Therapy Management Guideline" and a "Medication Administration‐Tracking Chart" and evaluating their use through an evaluative case study. Methods: Evidence‐based guideline and chart development and evaluative case study. Initially, Evidence‐Based Medication Therapy Management Guideline and Medication Administration Tracking Chart for managing medication in a psychiatric unit were developed. Subsequently, their efficacy was evaluated in a case study involving 10 participating nurses used in the psychiatric unit with 123‐bed of a training and research hospital in Turkey. Data was collected through personal forms, interviews, medication charts, and researcher observations, and the analysis employed Merriam's case study method. Results: Three themes (inception, implementation, termination, and sustainers) and 12 sub‐themes emerged. Nurses stated that the research tools filled their information gaps, enhancing the medication therapy management process's effectiveness and safety, improving nursing care quality and continuity, and benefiting patient outcomes. Nurses expressed a desire to consistently use the tools in the unit and provided suggestions. Conclusion: Nurses highlighted the tools' potential to enhance medication safety, psychiatric care, and patient outcomes. However, their stance on using evidence‐based tools revealed an approach/avoidance conflict, balancing benefits and barriers. Experience emerged as a hindrance in embracing evidence‐based clinical tools. This study is among the first to comprehensively develop evidence‐based medication management guideline and administration‐tracking chart for psychiatric nurses globally and in our country. Routine use of the tools is expected to enhance nurses' expertise in psychotropic medication management, leading to improved patient outcomes in medication‐related aspects. The results indicated that nurses found these tools to enhance their knowledge, improve the safety and efficacy of medication therapy, elevate the quality and consistency of nursing care, and ultimately enhance patient outcomes. However, challenges were noted, particularly concerning the utilization of evidence‐based tools, which were negatively influenced by nursing experience and clinical workload. Objectives: Primary human papillomavirus (HPV) testing by clinician-collection is endorsed by U.S. guideline organizations for cervical cancer screening, but uptake remains low and insights into patients' understanding are limited. This study aims to primarily address patient awareness of primary HPV screening by clinician-collection and acceptance of primary HPV screening by clinician- and self-collection, and secondarily assess factors associated with awareness and acceptance. Setting: Primary care practices affiliated with an academic medical center. Methods: A cross-sectional survey study of screening-eligible women aged 30–65 years was conducted to assess awareness and acceptability of primary HPV screening. We analyzed bivariate associations of respondent characteristics with awareness of primary HPV screening by clinician-collection, willingness to have clinician- or self-collected primary HPV testing, and reasons for self-collection preference. Results: Respondents (n = 351; response rate = 23.4%) reported cervical cancer screening adherence of 82.8% but awareness of clinician-collected primary HPV as an option was low (18.9%) and only associated with HPV testing with recent screening (p = 0.003). After reviewing a description of primary HPV screening, willingness for clinician-collected (81.8%) or home self-collected (76.1%) HPV testing was high, if recommended by a provider. Acceptability of clinician-collected HPV testing was associated with higher income (p = 0.009) and for self-collection was associated with higher income (p = 0.002) and higher education (p = 0.02). Higher education was associated with reporting self-collection as easier than clinic-collection (p = 0.02). Women expected self-collection to be more convenient (94%), less embarrassing (85%), easier (85%), and less painful (81%) than clinician-collection. Conclusions: Educational interventions are needed to address low awareness about the current clinician-collected primary HPV screening option and to prepare for anticipated federal licensure of self-collection kits. Objectives: Dental clinics are one of the major producers of mercury-containing waste due to the use of dental amalgam. The atmospheric transport and persistence of mercury and its compounds in the environment, coupled with their high potential for bioaccumulation and detrimental effects on human health and ecosystems, underscore the necessity for effective management of mercury waste. Due to the lack of comprehensive and integrated guidelines for the effective management of dental amalgam waste in Iran, the objective of this study was to adapt a guideline for the management of amalgam waste in dental settings within the country. Materials and Methods: The method used was based on the adaptation principles presented by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and included searching and reviewing guidelines related to the management of amalgam waste in developed countries, extracting recommendations, revising the recommendations considering the local infra-structures and conditions, and receiving expert opinions and reaching consensus according to the RAND/UCLA Appropriateness Method. Results: The final guideline includes 34 recommendations in 5 areas: management of the amalgam scraps, considerations for dental equipment, management of the extracted teeth containing amalgam restorations, management of the amalgam capsules, and considerations for placement and replacement of the amalgam restorations. Conclusion: The use of this guideline in medical universities, public and private dental clinics, along with the supervisory role of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, can be a way to minimize the environmental hazards of mercury. Purpose: To assess active surveillance (AS) adherence for prostate cancer (PCa) in a "real-world" clinical practice. Materials and methods: We utilized our institutional database which was built by interrogating electronic medical records for all men who got diagnosed with PCa from 1995 to 2022. Our cohort included all patients aged < 76 years, with PCa Gleason Grade (GG) 1 or 2, ≤ cT2c, PSA ≤ 20 ng/ml at diagnosis, enrolled on AS, and with at least one biopsy after diagnosis. Patients were separated into two groups based on the monitoring intensity. Patients with at least 1 PSA/year and at least 1 biopsy every 4 years were categorized as adherent to guidelines. Univariable and Multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to examine the impact of covariates on non-adherence to guidelines. Competing risks cumulative incidence was used to depict prostate cancer-specific mortality (PCSM). Results: A total of 546 men met the inclusion criteria. Overall, 63 (11%) patients were adherent to guidelines (Group 1), while 483 (89%) were not (Group 2). Median PSAs/year and median biopsies/year were 2.3 (2.0-2.7) and 0.4 (0.3–0.6) for Group 1, and 1.2 (0.7–1.8) and 0.2 (0.1–0.2) for Group 2, respectively (both p < 0.0001). At multivariable analysis, Black men had a 2.20-fold higher risk of being in Group 2 than White men (p < 0.05). Patients with cT2 (OR:0.24, CI:0.11–0.52) and those with CCI ≥2 (OR:0.40, CCI:0.19–0.82) were less likely to be in Group 2, when compared to cT1 stage and CCI = 0, respectively (both p < 0.05). At 10 years, the cumulative incidence estimate of PCSM for the entire cohort was 2.1%. Conclusion: We found substantial deviations from AS monitoring guidelines, particularly in biopsy frequency, which did not seem to compromise PCSM in patients with stable PSA. Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a clinically heterogeneous B‐cell neoplasm with unique clinicopathological features, accounting for 5% of all non‐Hodgkin lymphoma. Although for many chemoimmunotherapy can lead to durable remissions, those with poor baseline prognostic factors, namely blastoid morphology, TP53 aberrancy and Ki67 >30%, will have less durable responses to conventional therapies. With this in mind, clinical trials have focused on novel targeted therapies to improve outcomes. Background: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the use of a free online continuing education (CE) course that sought to address barriers of capability by training dental team members in the specific recommendations of the American Dental Association (ADA)-endorsed adult guideline for the pharmacologic management of acute dental pain, shared decision-making, and the adoption of the guideline into practice. Methods: In 2022 and 2023, dentists completed an online, asynchronous CE course on the guideline-concordant pharmacologic management of acute dental pain. They completed 11-item knowledge tests before and after completing the course. Total scores on the pre- and post-tests were compared using a t-test. Results: The mean score increased from 7.68 (SD = 1.08) on the pretest to 8.79 (SD = 1.35) on the post-test (t(4468) = -27.34, p <.01), indicating that dentists gained knowledge from the CE course. Conclusions: We found that the CE course increased knowledge with respect to the guideline recommendations and shared decision-making but not epidemiology or incorporating a guideline into practice. Purpose: To explore return-to-work (RTW) policies and practices for total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients in three European countries. Materials and methods: An exploratory study in Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands consisting of three aspects: (1) description of the healthcare and social security systems; (2) identification of national RTW guidelines; (3) a survey to gain insight into RTW practices and perceptions of orthopaedic surgeons, including barriers, facilitators, and needs. Results: Healthcare and social security systems differed (e.g. fast-track vs longer postoperative stay; coverage of rehabilitation costs). National guidelines were available in Germany (THA, TKA) and the Netherlands (TKA), containing limited RTW information. The survey was completed by 168 orthopaedic surgeons (Denmark n = 51; Germany n = 39; the Netherlands n = 78). Overall, orthopaedic surgeons reported being in need of more knowledge and better collaboration with other healthcare practitioners. Conclusion: We found considerable variation in healthcare and social security systems. When available, national guidelines contained limited information. In all three countries surgeons need more knowledge and better collaboration with other healthcare practitioners. We advise that RTW multidisciplinary recommendations post THA/TKA be established by the national associations of the healthcare practitioners involved. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: Orthopaedic surgeons (regardless of country) need more knowledge, including "guidelines", "scientific evidence", and "expertise with work/return-to-work", to adequately support return to work. Orthopaedic surgeons need better collaboration with other healthcare practitioners to adequately support total hip arthroplasty or total knee arthroplasty patients to return to work. Multidisciplinary recommendations for returning to work after total hip arthroplasty or total knee arthroplasty should be established by the national associations of the healthcare practitioners involved. Generating and translating high‐quality evidence is integral to providing safe and effective medication management for residents of aged care homes. Residents are often under‐represented in trials of medication effectiveness and safety. This paper reviews opportunities and challenges for generating and translating evidence for safe and effective medication management in aged care homes. There are an increasing number of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) being conducted in aged care homes. Observational studies can also help address the evidence‐practice gap arising from underrepresentation of residents in RCTs. Stepped‐wedge and helix counterbalanced designs may help overcome limitations of traditional RCTs for evaluating medication management interventions in the aged care setting. Strategies for generating evidence include building effective partnerships with aged care homes and organizations, using novel trial designs, leveraging existing data and knowledge sharing through international platforms. Strategies for translating evidence include using quality indicators for audit and feedback, provision of education and training, engaging internal and external stakeholders, and development of local action plans and guideline implementation tools. There is an emerging interest in the role of knowledge brokers to facilitate knowledge translation. Future directions for generating and translating evidence include strengthening international research collaboration, industry partnerships, standardizing aged care home data to support national and international comparisons, and optimizing the use of technology. Initiatives may include improving access to routinely collected administrative health and medication data for conducting high‐quality observational studies. The enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathway is a perioperative care pathway intended to facilitate early recovery and minimize hospital stays among patients undergoing major surgery. Critical factors for successful ERAS implementation, which may vary depending on care processes, include a multidisciplinary team, organizational commitment to change, and a real-time system for compliance and outcome audits. As most clinicians and health organizations can attest, incorporating and implementing new evidence-based practice changes almost always involves overcoming systemic challenges and obstacles. The same holds true for ERAS programs. The main barriers to ERAS protocol implementation have been resistance to change, lack of time and resources, and inadequate communication and coordination among departments. According to evidence-based ERAS guidelines, the best way to efficiently implement all recommendations into practice is to discover. Implementation science aims to identify and address care gaps, support change in practice, and enhance healthcare quality. Implementation research should also build a robust and generalizable evidence base to inform implementation practice. Most implementation investigations focus on one of two approaches to achieving change. Implementation can progress through top-down or bottom-up processes depending on factors such as national policies, organizational properties, or the implementation culture of society, especially for health issues. Although the ERAS guidelines are based on evidence-based knowledge, only a limited number of health centers around the world have officially been able to implement them. The purpose of this review is to analyze the implementation of the ERAS pathways in theory and practice in Turkey, considering the absence of an ERAS-qualified center in Turkey. This article provides guidelines for endoscopic surgery, specifically focusing on hernia repair. It discusses the shift from conventional tissue suture repair to mesh repair and the use of laparoscopic surgery. The article highlights the differences in surgical treatment between Japan and Western countries and emphasizes the need for future reports on surgical results from Japan. The guidelines compare laparoscopic repair to inguinal mesh repair in terms of complications, recurrence rates, postoperative pain, and patient satisfaction. It also discusses the use of laparoscopic surgery for different types of hernias. In terms of rehabilitation, laparoscopic surgery is recommended over inguinal mesh repair. It has been found to be superior in terms of patient satisfaction within the first two weeks after surgery, but there is no significant difference between the two techniques after one to two years. The cost of laparoscopic surgery is high, but it offers benefits such as reduced postoperative pain and early recovery. However, caution is needed when comparing medical care in different countries. In children, laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is associated with lower contralateral incidence, shorter operative time in bilateral cases, and fewer common postoperative complications compared to inguinal incisional repair. For abdominal incisional hernia, laparoscopic surgery can reduce wound infections, but there is a higher likelihood of intestinal injury. Objectives: Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is widely used for evaluating the fallopian tubes; however, controversies regarding the use of water- or oil-based iodine-based contrast media (CM) remain. The aim of this work was (1) to discuss reported pregnancy rates related to the CM type used, (2) to validate the used CM in published literature, (3) to discuss possible complications and side effects of CM in HSG, and (4) to develop guidelines on the use of oil-based CM in HSG. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted for original RCT studies or review/meta-analyses on using water-based and oil-based CM in HSG with fertility outcomes and complications. Nine randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 10 reviews/meta-analyses were analyzed. Grading of the literature was performed based on the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (OCEBM) 2011 classification. Results: An approximately 10% higher pregnancy rate is reported for oil-based CM. Side effects are rare, but oil-based CM have potentially more side effects on the maternal thyroid function and the peritoneum. Conclusions: 1. HSG with oil-based CM gives approximately 10% higher pregnancy rates. 2. External validity is limited, as in five of nine RCTs, the CM used is no longer on the market. 3. Oil-based CM have potentially more side effects on the maternal thyroid function and on the peritoneum. 4. Guideline: Maternal thyroid function should be tested before HSG with oil-based CM and monitored for 6 months after. Clinical relevance statement: Oil-based CM is associated with an approximately 10% higher chance of pregnancy compared to water-based CM after HSG. Although side effects are rare, higher iodine concentration and slower clearance of oil-based CM may induce maternal thyroid function disturbance and peritoneal inflammation and granuloma formation. Background: Type 2 diabetes can lead to severe foot complications, making self-care education, guided by clinical guidelines, crucial. However, fragmented and dispersed recommendations challenge effective implementation of these guidelines. Bringing together recommendations and presenting them according to a self-care model can provide a solid framework and facilitate the interpretation of results. Aims: to map the international guidelines that provide recommendations to nurses to enable people with type 2 diabetes for foot self-care and synthesize the recommendations according to the key concepts of the middle-range theory of self-care for chronic diseases. Design: A scoping review was undertaken, using the methodological guidance of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Data Sources: Databases were searched between September 2022 and June 2023, including PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global, guideline websites and related professional association websites. The databases were chosen for their comprehensive coverage of the area. Methods: Eligible articles included guidance documents providing foot care recommendations for diabetes, published or updated between 2013 and 2023. Two reviewers summarized the recommendations presented in at least two guidelines according to the key concepts of the self-care model. The PRISMA-ScR checklist was used. Results: Seventeen guidelines were included. In total, we synthesized 175 recommendations. The recommendations were framed in three dimensions and their respective categories: Self-care maintenance (education for prevention, control of risk factors, daily foot care, footwear, and socks), Self-care monitoring (foot inspection, detection of signs of infection, and detection of other diabetes-related foot disease complications), and Self-care management (responses to signs and symptoms, foot wound care, follow-up with health professionals, and health services). Conclusions: The main aspect of foot care revolves around daily care, including cleaning, moisturizing, nail care, selecting appropriate footwear, and regular inspection of both feet and footwear. Active surveillance (AS) has been widely adopted as an alternative to immediate surgery owing to the indolent nature and favorable outcomes of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC). AS is generally recommended for tumors measuring ≤1 cm without aggressive cytological subtypes, risk of gross extrathyroidal extension (ETE), lymph node metastasis (LNM), or distant metastasis. AS requires careful patient selection based on various patient and tumor characteristics, and ultrasound (US) findings. Moreover, during AS, regular US is performed to monitor any signs of tumor progression, including tumor growth, new US features of potential gross ETE, and LNM. Therefore, appropriate imaging-based assessment plays a crucial role in determining whether AS or surgery should be pursued. However, detailed recommendations concerning US evaluation are currently insufficient, necessitating the formulation of this guideline. The Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology has developed a consensus statement for low-risk PTMC, covering US assessment methods when considering AS as a management option and conducting follow-up imaging tests during AS. This guideline aims to provide optimal scientific evidence and expert opinion consensus regarding a standardized US-based assessment protocol for low-risk PTMC.

Study objectiveExcessive daytime sleepiness is common with obstructive sleep apnoea and can persist despite efforts to optimise primary airway therapy. The literature lacks recommendations regarding differential diagnosis and management of excessive daytime sleepiness in obstructive sleep apnoea. This study sought to develop expert consensus statements to bridge the gap between existing literature/guidelines and clinical practice.MethodsA panel of 10 international experts was convened to undertake a modified Delphi process. Statements were developed based on available evidence identified through a scoping literature review, and expert opinion. Consensus was achieved through 3 rounds of iterative, blinded survey voting and revision to statements until a predetermined level of agreement was met (≥80 % voting "strongly agree" or "agree with reservation").ResultsConsensus was achieved for 32 final statements. The panel agreed excessive daytime sleepiness is a patient-reported symptom. The importance of subjective/objective evaluation of excessive daytime sleepiness in the initial evaluation and serial management of obstructive sleep apnoea was recognised. The differential diagnosis of residual excessive daytime sleepiness in obstructive sleep apnoea was discussed. Optimizing airway therapy (eg, troubleshooting issues affecting effectiveness) was addressed. The panel recognised occurrence of residual excessive daytime sleepiness in obstructive sleep apnoea despite optimal airway therapy and the need to evaluate patients for underlying causes.ConclusionsExcessive daytime sleepiness in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea is a public health issue requiring increased awareness, recognition, and attention. Implementation of these statements may improve patient care, long-term management, and clinical outcomes in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea.

Background: Patients With Stroke (PWS), like patients with other chronic health conditions, need long-term care in home settings. Patient transfer from hospital to home is associated with challenges such as care quality impairment and ineffective patient need fulfillment. The aim of this study was to assess the principles of Home Care (HC) for PWS. Materials and Methods: This integrative review was conducted in 2023 using the method recommended by Whittemore and Knafl. The Web of Science, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Scopus, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PubMed, and specific databases for stroke care guidelines were searched to find relevant articles published between 2010 and 2023. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement was used for document screening and selection. The data were analyzed using the constant comparison method. Results: Primarily, 2608 documents were retrieved, and 22 of them were included in data analysis. The principles of HC for PWS were categorized into six main categories: principles of transition from hospital care to HC, principles of assessment for HC, principles of education for HC, principles of designing an HC plan, principles of HC measures, and principles of discharge from HC centers. Conclusions: The present study provides a detailed overview of the principles of HC for PWS, which can be used to develop standard guidelines and improve the quality of HC for PWS.

Background While fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) plays an essential role in the screening of thyroid nodules, core needle biopsy (CNB) acts as an alternative method to address FNAC limitations. However, diagnosing thyroid CNB samples can be challenging due to variations in background and levels of experience. Effective training is indispensable to mitigate this challenge. We aim to evaluate the impact of an educational program on improving the accuracy of CNB diagnostics. Methods The 2-week observational program included a host mentor pathologist with extensive experience and a visiting pathologist. The CNB classification by The Practice Guidelines Committee of the Korean Thyroid Association was used for the report. Two rounds of reviewing the case were carried out, and the level of agreement between the reviewers was analyzed. Results The first-round assessment showed a concordance between two pathologists for 247 thyroid CNB specimens by 84.2%, with a kappa coefficient of 0.74 (indicating substantial agreement). This finding was attributed to the discordance in the use of categories III and V. After peer learning, the two pathologists evaluated 30 new cases, which showed an overall improvement in the level of agreement. The percentage of agreement between pathologists on thyroid CNB diagnosis was 86.7%, as measured by kappa coefficient of 0.80. Conclusions This educational program, consisting of guided mentorship and peer learning, can substantially enhance the diagnostic accuracy of thyroid CNB. It is useful in promoting consistent diagnostic standards and contributes to the ongoing development of global pathology practices.

Abstract Background The implementation of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) is a cyclical process in which the evaluation stage can facilitate continuous improvement. Implementation science has utilized theoretical approaches, such as models and frameworks, to understand and address this process. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the models and frameworks used to assess the implementation of CPGs. Methods A systematic review was conducted following the Cochrane methodology, with adaptations to the "selection process" due to the unique nature of this review. The findings were reported following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) reporting guidelines. Electronic databases were searched from their inception until May 15, 2023. A predetermined strategy and manual searches were conducted to identify relevant documents from health institutions worldwide. Eligible studies presented models and frameworks for assessing the implementation of CPGs. Information on the characteristics of the documents, the context in which the models were used (specific objectives, level of use, type of health service, target group), and the characteristics of each model or framework (name, domain evaluated, and model limitations) were extracted. The domains of the models were analyzed according to the key constructs: strategies, context, outcomes, fidelity, adaptation, sustainability, process, and intervention. A subgroup analysis was performed grouping models and frameworks according to their levels of use (clinical, organizational, and policy) and type of health service (community, ambulatorial, hospital, institutional). The JBI’s critical appraisal tools were utilized by two independent researchers to assess the trustworthiness, relevance, and results of the included studies. Results Database searches yielded 14,395 studies, of which 80 full texts were reviewed. Eight studies were included in the data analysis and four methodological guidelines were additionally included from the manual search. The risk of bias in the studies was considered non-critical for the results of this systematic review. A total of ten models/frameworks for assessing the implementation of CPGs were found. The level of use was mainly policy, the most common type of health service was institutional, and the major target group was professionals directly involved in clinical practice. The evaluated domains differed between the models and there were also differences in their conceptualization. All the models addressed the domain "Context", especially at the micro level (8/12), followed by the multilevel (7/12). Abstract Background Clinical practice guidelines are crucial for enhancing healthcare quality and patient outcomes. Yet, their implementation remains inconsistent across various professions and disciplines. Previous findings on the implementation of the German guideline for schizophrenia (2019) revealed low adherence rates among healthcare professionals. Barriers to guideline adherence are multifaceted, influenced by individual, contextual, and guideline-related factors. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of a digital guideline version compared to print/PDF formats in enhancing guideline adherence. Methods A multicenter, cluster-randomized controlled trial was conducted in South Bavaria, Germany, involving psychologists and physicians. Participants were divided into two groups: implementation of the guideline using a digital online version via the MAGICapp platform and the other using the traditional print/PDF version. The study included a baseline assessment and a post-intervention assessment following a 6-month intervention phase. The primary outcome was guideline knowledge, which was assessed using a guideline knowledge questionnaire. Results The study included 217 participants at baseline and 120 at post-intervention. Both groups showed significant improvements in guideline knowledge; however, no notable difference was found between both study groups regarding guideline knowledge at either time points. At baseline, 43.6% in the control group (CG) and 52.5% of the interventional group (IG) met the criterion. There was no significant difference in the primary outcome between the two groups at either time point (T0: Chi2 (1) = 1.65, p = 0.199, T1: Chi2 (1) = 0.34, p = 0.561). At post-intervention, both groups improved, with 58.2% in the CG and 63.5% in the IG meeting this criterion. Conclusions While the study did not include a control group without any implementation strategy, the overall improvement in guideline knowledge following an implementation strategy, independent of the format, was confirmed. The digital guideline version, while not superior in enhancing knowledge, showed potential benefits in shared decision-making skills. However, familiarity with traditional formats and various barriers to digital application may have influenced these results. The introduction of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) technology in the 1980s revolutionized the diagnosis, management and monitoring of osteoporosis, providing a clinical tool which is now available worldwide. However, DXA measurements are influenced by many technical factors, including the quality control procedures for the instrument, positioning of the patient, and approach to analysis. Reporting of DXA results may be confounded by factors such as selection of reference ranges for T-scores and Z-scores, as well as inadequate knowledge of current standards for interpretation. These points are addressed at length in many international guidelines but are not always easily assimilated by practising clinicians and technicians. Our aim in this report is to identify key elements pertaining to the use of DXA in clinical practice, considering both technical and clinical aspects. Here, we discuss technical aspects of DXA procedures, approaches to interpretation and integration into clinical practice, and the use of non-bone mineral density measurements, such as a vertebral fracture assessment, in clinical risk assessment. The European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel, and Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance collaboratively developed three editions of the International Clinical Practice Guidelines for preventing and treating pressure ulcers/injuries in 2009, 2014, and 2019. Dissemination and uptake of these guidelines are important to improve care. The aim of this work was to provide an updated and expanded citation analysis of the three published guidelines. Referencing formats, citation counts, and global distribution of citations of the 2009, 2014, and 2019 guidelines were searched in the citation database Scopus from 2009 to 2023. Duplicates were removed manually. The search identified 330 referencing formats with 2887 citations from 2009 to 2023 for the three guideline editions. Citations displayed geographical diversity, with citation peaks observed approximately 4 years after each edition's release and ongoing citations to the present. The International Clinical Practice Guidelines for preventing and treating pressure ulcers/injuries updated since 2009 were cited more than 2800 times in the scientific literature exceeding the thresholds of highly cited papers in the field of clinical medicine. Acute-on-chronic liver failure （ACLF） is a syndrome characterized by the rapid progression of organ failure and has a high short-term mortality rate. Kidney is one of the most frequently affected extrahepatic organs in ACLF patients. Recently Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver （APASL） published APASL clinical practice guidelines on the management of acute kidney injury in acute-on-chronic liver failure, which proposed related consensus statements and recommendations for the early diagnosis, pathophysiology, prevention, and management of acute kidney injury in patients with ACLF, and it also highlighted the need for more high-quality studies in the future. The EFLM Task and Finish Group Urinalysis has updated the ECLM European Urinalysis Guidelines (2000) on urinalysis and urine bacterial culture, to improve accuracy of these examinations in European clinical laboratories, and to support diagnostic industry to develop new technologies. Graded recommendations were built in the following areas: Strategies of urine testing are described to patients with complicated or uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI), and high or low-risk to kidney disease. Patient preparation, and urine collection are supported with two quality indicators: contamination rate (cultures), and density of urine (chemistry, particles). Measurements of both urine albumin and α1-microglobulin are recommended for sensitive detection of kidney disease in high-risk patients. Performance specifications are given for urine protein measurements and quality control of multiproperty strip tests. Procedures for microscopy are reviewed for diagnostic urine particles, including urine bacteria. Technologies in automated particle counting and visual microscopy are updated with advice how to verify new instruments with the reference microscopy. Chromogenic agar is recommended as primary medium in urine cultures. Limits of significant growth are reviewed, with an optimised workflow for routine specimens, using leukocyturia to reduce less important antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Automation in bacteriology is encouraged to shorten turn-around times. Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry is applicable for rapid identification of uropathogens. Aerococcus urinae, A. sanguinicola and Actinotignum schaalii are taken into the list of uropathogens. A reference examination procedure was developed for urine bacterial cultures. Objective: Dental regulatory bodies aim to ensure the health and safety of dentists, dental staff patients and the public. An important responsibility during a pandemic is to communicate risk and guidelines for patient care. Limited data exist on the perceptions and experiences of dentists navigating new guidelines for mitigating risk in dental care during the pandemic. The objective of this study was to use a qualitative approach to explore how dentists in Canada experienced and perceived their regulatory bodies' communication about COVID‐19 risks and guidelines during the pandemic. Methods: Participants were Canadian dentists (N = 644) recruited through the email roster of nine provincial dental associations or regulatory bodies. This qualitative analysis was nested within a prospective longitudinal cohort study in which data were collected using online questionnaires at regular intervals from August 2020 to November 2021. To address the objective reported in this paper, a conventional qualitative content analysis method was applied to responses to three open‐ended questions included in the final questionnaire. Results: Participants encountered challenges and frustrations amid the COVID‐19 pandemic, grappling with diverse regulations and communications from dental bodies. While some bodies offered helpful guidance, many participants felt the need for improved communication on guidelines. Dentists urged for expedited, clearer and more frequent updates, expressing difficulty in navigating overwhelming information. Negative views emerged on the vague and unclear communication of COVID‐19 guidelines, contributing to confusion and frustration among participants. Conclusion: As COVID‐19 persists and in planning for future pandemics, these experiential findings will help guide regulatory bodies in providing clear, timely and practical guidelines to protect the health and safety of dentists, dental staff, patients and the public. Background Asthma is one of the most frequent reasons children visit a general practitioner (GP). The diagnosis of childhood asthma is challenging, and a variety of diagnostic tests for asthma exist. GPs may refer to clinical practice guidelines when deciding which tests, if any, are appropriate, but the quality of these guidelines is unknown. Objectives To determine (i) the methodological quality and reporting of paediatric guidelines for the diagnosis of childhood asthma in primary care, and (ii) the strength of evidence supporting diagnostic test recommendations. Design Meta-epidemiological study of English-language guidelines from the United Kingdom and other high-income countries with comparable primary care systems including diagnostic testing recommendations for childhood asthma in primary care. The AGREE-II tool was used to assess the quality and reporting of the guidelines. The quality of the evidence was assessed using GRADE. Results Eleven guidelines met the eligibility criteria. The methodology and reporting quality varied across the AGREE II domains (median score 4.5 out of 7, range 2–6). The quality of evidence supporting diagnostic recommendations was generally of very low quality. All guidelines recommended the use of spirometry and reversibility testing for children aged ≥5 years, however, the recommended spirometry thresholds for diagnosis differed across guidelines. There were disagreements in testing recommendations for 3 of the 7 included tests. Conclusions The variable quality of guidelines, lack of good quality evidence, and inconsistent recommendations for diagnostic tests may contribute to poor clinician adherence to guidelines and variation in testing for diagnosing childhood asthma. In June 2017, National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China released Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of primary liver cancer (2017 edition), which provided important recommendations for the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of liver cancer. Since then, high-level evidence in line with the principles of evidence-based medicine has been continuously obtained from the research on primary liver cancer in China and globally. Therefore, National Health Commission released Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of primary liver cancer (2024 edition). Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) that require long‐term anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy presents a problem in people with haemophilia (PWH) who receive factor replacement therapy to reduce bleeding risk. Currently, there are no Japanese guidelines for the management of PWH with CVD. Aim: To develop expert guidance on managing CVD in PWH in Japan. Methods: A steering committee of four experts (two haemophilia specialists, one thrombosis specialist, one cardiologist) identified 44 statements related to five key themes. An online questionnaire was produced comprising a mix of 4‐point Likert scale and multiple‐choice questions that was sent to specialists in the management of PWH with CVD in Japan. Consensus was defined as high or very high if a respective ≥75% or ≥90% of respondents agreed with a statement. Results: Of 16 potential respondents, responses were received from 15 specialists. Of the Likert scale questions, 71% (29/41) achieved ≥90% agreement (very strong agreement), 17% (7/41) achieved 75%–89% agreement (strong agreement) and 15% (6/41) did not achieve consensus agreement. The three multiple‐choice questions failed to identify a strong preference. Agreement on specific target trough clotting factor levels for managing certain clinical situations, such as when in the presence of non‐valvular atrial fibrillation or myocardial infarction, was also achieved. Conclusion: The results of this consensus study provide a framework for cardiologists and haematologists to manage PWH who are at risk of, or who have, CVD. Objectives: Early, accurate diagnosis is crucial for the prognosis of patients with soft tissue sarcomas. To this end, standardization of imaging algorithms, technical requirements, and reporting is therefore a prerequisite. Since the first European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) consensus in 2015, technical achievements, further insights into specific entities, and the revised WHO-classification (2020) and AJCC staging system (2017) made an update necessary. The guidelines are intended to support radiologists in their decision-making and contribute to interdisciplinary tumor board discussions. Materials and methods: A validated Delphi method based on peer-reviewed literature was used to derive consensus among a panel of 46 specialized musculoskeletal radiologists from 12 European countries. Statements were scored online by level of agreement (0 to 10) during two iterative rounds. Either "group consensus," "group agreement," or "lack of agreement" was achieved. Results: Eight sections were defined that finally contained 145 statements with comments. Overall, group consensus was reached in 95.9%, and group agreement in 4.1%. This communication contains the first part consisting of the imaging algorithm for suspected soft tissue tumors, methods for local imaging, and the role of tumor centers. Conclusion: Ultrasound represents the initial triage imaging modality for accessible and small tumors. MRI is the modality of choice for the characterization and local staging of most soft tissue tumors. CT is indicated in special situations. In suspicious or likely malignant tumors, a specialist tumor center should be contacted for referral or teleradiologic second opinion. This should be done before performing a biopsy, without exception. Clinical relevance: The updated ESSR soft tissue tumor imaging guidelines aim to provide best practice expert consensus for standardized imaging, to support radiologists in their decision-making, and to improve examination comparability both in individual patients and in future studies on individualized strategies. Abstract Background Evidence-based practice, in conjunction with optimum care quality, improves patients’ clinical outcomes. However, its implementation in daily clinical practice continues to present difficulties. The aim of this study was to identify the strategies applied by Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) to foster adherence to clinical practice guideline recommendations. Methods An exploratory qualitative study was conducted with six focus groups at three public hospitals belonging to the Balearic Islands Health Care Service (Spain). The study participants were 32 ward nurses and 5 advanced practice nurses working routinely with inpatients at these hospitals. The study was conducted from November 2020 to January 2021, using thematic analysis, based on the COREQ checklist. Results Four major themes related to the facilitation process were identified either by RNs and APNs: the context of the project, APN contribution to nursing team management, healthcare provision on the ward, and the acquisition and application of knowledge. Conclusions The APNs adapted their actions to the characteristics and needs of the local context, employing strategies aimed at improving teamwork, healthcare, and knowledge management. Each of these contributions enhanced the sustainability of the changes made.

Abstract Background External apical root resorption (EARR) is a frequently observed adverse event in patients undergoing fixed appliance therapy. Assessing the patients’ risk during treatment is important, as certain factors are assumed to be associated with an increased likelihood of occurrence. However, their predictive value remains limited, making evidence-based clinical decision-making challenging for orthodontists. To address this issue, the Dutch Association of Orthodontists (NvVO) developed a clinical practice guideline (CPG) for EARR in accordance with the AGREE II instrument (Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II) in 2018. The aim of this study is to get insight into the actual utilization and the practical implementation of the guideline among orthodontists. The hypothesis to be tested was that after its introduction, clinical practice for EARR has changed towards the recommendations in the CPG. Objective To investigate the use of the 2018 clinical practice guidelines for EARR among orthodontists 3 years after its introduction. Methods A questionnaire using a 7-point Likert scale was developed concerning four domains of EARR described in the guideline. The questionnaire was piloted, finalised, and then distributed digitally among Dutch orthodontists. REDCap was used for data collection, starting with an invitation email in June 2021, followed by two reminders. Effect was tested by the Mann–Whitney U test, and the influence of demographic variables was analysed. Results Questionnaires were sent out to all 275 and completed by 133 (response rate 48%); N = 59 females and N = 73 males were included; 81% had their training in the Netherlands, 89% had ≥ 6 years of work experience, and 89% worked in private orthodontic practice. One hundred thirty orthodontists (98.5%) reported changes in clinical practice. The biggest positive change in clinical behaviour regarding EARR occurred if EARR was diagnosed during treatment. Sex, clinical experience, country of specialist training, and working environment of the respondents did not affect clinical practices regarding EARR. Conclusions This questionnaire demonstrated that, 3 years after introduction of the guideline, orthodontists improved their self-reported clinical practices to a more standardised management of root resorption. None of the demographic predictors had a significant effect on the results.

Abstract Background We recently adopted a guideline for chronic cough in children in the Egyptian health system. Adapting clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) to the local healthcare setting is a valid alternative to de-novo development that can improve their uptake and implementation without demanding a substantial drain on resources. The objective of this study was to adapt evidence-based recommendations from global high-quality CPGs for children with a chronic cough to suit the Egyptian healthcare context. Methods We followed the Adapted ADAPTE methodological framework for guideline adaptation. This process includes three phases: set-up, adaptation, and finalization. A guideline adaptation group (GAG) and an external review group including clinical content experts and methodologists conducted the process. Results The GAG adapted 10 sections of recommendations from three original CPG(s) including (i) the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) 2006–2020, (ii) the European Respiratory Society (ERS) 2019, (iii) the Korean Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology (KAAACI) 2018. A set of CPG implementation tools was added to enhance implementability including an algorithm, a slide presentation for clinical diagnosis, investigations and treatment of chronic cough, patient education, and online resources. Conclusion The adapted CPG provides pediatricians and related healthcare workers with applicable evidence-based recommendations for chronic cough in children in Egypt. The project also highlighted the utility of Adapted ADAPTE and the invaluable collaboration between the clinical and methodological experts for the adaptation of pediatric national guidelines.

Background & aim: Preparing to deal with natural disasters, is important for the health of the society, and a valid clinical guideline which fits the country's conditions can lead to a reduction in complications caused by the aforementioned disasters. Therefore, the present study was conducted to develop and validate the clinical guidelines for reproductive health in natural disasters.Methods: This mixed methods study was carried out in three phases. The first phase was a structured review of literature which systematically reviewed the articles and clinical guidelines related to the reproductive health in disasters. In the second phase, a qualitative study was conducted with the content analysis approach in order to identify the needs related to women's reproductive health in disasters, and a draft clinical guide was prepared. In the third phase, the validation of the prepared draft was carried out by a group of experts using the (RAND) Research and Development technique.Results: The themes obtained included the consequences of facing a disaster and the need to provide comprehensive services. The clinical guideline consists of 5 chapters including an introduction on the importance of reproductive health in natural disasters, general clinical guidelines, prevention of physical and mental injuries in a crisis, access to reliable sources of information and the availability of the health services provider team. Conclusion: Correct management of crisis, empowering information skills and access to service providers in crises are of particular importance. Therefore, support of health care providers and training of service providers to learn about evidence-based performance in crises and their use is a necessary step to implement the clinical guidelines prepared in the country.

Background: Evidence-based practice, in conjunction with optimum care quality, improves patients' clinical outcomes. However, its implementation in daily clinical practice continues to present difficulties. The aim of this study was to identify the strategies applied by Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) to foster adherence to clinical practice guideline recommendations. Methods: An exploratory qualitative study was conducted with six focus groups at three public hospitals belonging to the Balearic Islands Health Care Service (Spain). The study participants were 32 ward nurses and 5 advanced practice nurses working routinely with inpatients at these hospitals. The study was conducted from November 2020 to January 2021, using thematic analysis, based on the COREQ checklist. Results: Four major themes related to the facilitation process were identified either by RNs and APNs: the context of the project, APN contribution to nursing team management, healthcare provision on the ward, and the acquisition and application of knowledge. Conclusions: The APNs adapted their actions to the characteristics and needs of the local context, employing strategies aimed at improving teamwork, healthcare, and knowledge management. Introduction: These guidelines aim to provide evidence-based recommendations for the supplementation of Vitamin D in maintaining bone health. An unmet need persists in Latin American regarding the availability of clinical and real-world data for rationalizing the use of vitamin D supplementation. The objective of these guidelines is to establish clear and practical recommendations for healthcare practitioners from Latin American countries to address Vitamin D insufficiency in clinical practice. Methods: The guidelines were developed according to the GRADE-ADOLOPMENT methodology for the adaptation or adoption of CPGs or evidence-based recommendations. A search for high quality CPGs was complemented through a comprehensive review of recent literature, including randomized controlled trials, observational studies, and systematic reviews evaluating the effects of Vitamin D supplementation on bone health. The evidence to decision framework proposed by the GRADE Working Group was implemented by a panel of experts in endocrinology, bone health, and clinical research. Results: The guidelines recommend Vitamin D supplementation for individuals aged 18 and above, considering various populations, including healthy adults, individuals with osteopenia, osteoporosis patients, and institutionalized older adults. These recommendations offer dosing regimens depending on an individualized treatment plan, and monitoring intervals of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and adjustments based on individual results. Discussion: The guidelines highlight the role of Vitamin D in bone health and propose a standardized approach for healthcare practitioners to address Vitamin D insufficiency across Latin America. The panel underscored the necessity for generating local data and stressed the importance of considering regional geography, social dynamics, and cultural specificities when implementing these guidelines. Objective: Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are an important tool for the management of children with sepsis. The quality, consistency and concordance of Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) childhood sepsis CPGs with the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare (ACSQHC) sepsis clinical care standards and international sepsis guidelines is unclear. Methods: We accessed childhood sepsis CPGs for all ANZ states and territories through Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative members. The guidelines were assessed for quality using the AGREE‐II instrument. Consistency between CPG treatment recommendations was assessed, as was concordance with the ACSQHC sepsis clinical care standards and international sepsis guidelines. Results: Overall, eight CPGs were identified and assessed. CPGs used a narrative and pathway format, with those using both having the highest quality overall. CPG quality was highest for description of scope and clarity of presentation, and lowest for editorial independence. Consistency between guidelines for initial treatment recommendations was poor, with substantial variation in the choice and urgency of empiric antimicrobial administration; the choice, volume and urgency of fluid resuscitation; and the choice of first‐line vasoactive agent. Most CPGs were concordant with time‐critical components of the ACSQHC sepsis clinical care standard, although few addressed post‐acute care. Concordance with international sepsis guidelines was poor. Conclusion: Childhood sepsis CPGs in current use in ANZ are of variable quality and lack consistency with key treatment recommendations. CPGs are concordant with the ACSQHC care standard, but not with international sepsis guidelines. A bi‐national sepsis CPG may reduce unnecessary variation in care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is characterized by rapid onset and progression, complex clinicopathological changes, and a mortality rate of as high as 20%—30%. Long-term clinical practice and basic research have shown that relying solely on Western medicine for the treatment of SAP may not achieve satisfactory outcomes, and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapy has a marked clinical effect and significant advantages. Based on evidence-based medicine and with reference to related guidelines and clinical practice in China and globally, these guidelines summarize 28 clinical questions after widely soliciting opinions and suggestions from experts. This document specifically elaborates on the etiology, pathogenesis, and diagnostic criteria of SAP, as well as the key points of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine typing, disease staging, treatment methods, and therapies, so as to standardize the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnostic criteria and treatment principles of SAP. Aim: Both excessive intake of sodium and inadequate intake of potassium are associated with blood pressure elevation and subsequent increase in the risk of cardiovascular disease, which accounts for the largest number of deaths in China and worldwide. Low sodium salt, a mixture of mainly sodium chloride and potassium chloride, has shown its great potential as a promising population strategy for sodium intake reduction through multiple large‐scale, multicenter, randomized controlled trials among populations including patients with cardiovascular disease, individuals with and without hypertension, older and younger adults, and men and women in China and other countries. This Guidelines aims to provide expert recommendations for promotion and use of low sodium salt in China, based on the current available scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness, safety, cost‐effectiveness, and acceptability of low sodium salts in various population groups and different application scenarios. The suggestions to key stakeholders are also made. Methods: A working group, an expert review committee and an advisory committee were established to be responsible for formulating the guidelines' scope and key questions to be addressed, for searching, synthesizing, and evaluating research evidence, proposing and reviewing the recommendations. The consensus on the final recommendations was reached using the GRADE grid method. Results: The working group summarized current available evidence of salt substitution regarding its effectiveness, safety, cost‐effectiveness, acceptability, availability, suitability, etc. The Guidelines provided six recommendations advising different populations how to use low sodium salt, four recommendations on the application of low sodium salts in different scenarios, and five suggestions for key stakeholders to promote salt substitution. Conclusion: The first evidence‐based guidelines on promotion and use of low sodium salts covers all key questions in relevance and would play a critical role in prevention and control of hypertension and cardiovascular disease in China and worldwide. Introduction: Teleneuropsychology, which includes the remote application of neuropsychological tests to patients via telephone or videoconferencing, can expand access to health services for patients who reside in distant areas or have mobility restrictions. With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant increase in the use of teleneuropsychology in cognitive assessment. In this review, the aim was to critically review the results of studies conducted in the field of teleneuropsychology and the fundamental principles related to teleneuropsychological assessment. Additionally, the "guideline for homebased teleneuropsychology" developed for Türkiye's practices is outlined in this review. Method: A literature search was conducted using the Web of Science and PubMed databases to include all types of articles related to the subject. Results: The results of studies on in-clinic and home-based teleneuropsychological assessment indicate that tests that assess cognitive functions such as attention, memory, executive functions, and language, particularly those based on verbal administration, can be reliably applied through teleneuropsychological assessment. However, there are factors to consider when referring patients for teleneuropsychological assessment, selecting tests for assessment, and making ethical considerations. Additionally, it is important to follow recommended steps for both the clinician and the patient and/or their caregiver before and during the interview in order for the assessment to be carried out effectively. Conclusion: Although direct contact with the patient is an essential element in clinical neuropsychology practice, when necessary, teleneuropsychological assessment performed by trained experts following appropriate application procedures can be a good alternative to face-to-face evaluations. Objective. Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is chronic disease that compromises multiple domains and might be associated with progressive joint damage, increased mortality, functional limitation, and considerably impaired quality of life. Our objective was to generate evidence-based recommendations on the management of PsA in Pan American League of Associations for Rheumatology (PANLAR) countries. Methods. We used the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE)-ADOLOPMENT approach to adapt the 2019 recommendations of the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology. A working group consisting of rheumatologists from various countries in Latin America identified relevant topics for the treatment of PsA in the region. The methodology team updated the evidence and synthesized the information used to generate the final recommendations. These were then discussed and defined by a panel of 31 rheumatologists from 15 countries. Results. Theses guidelines report 15 recommendations addressing therapeutic targets, use of antiinflammatory agents and corticosteroids, treatment with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (conventional synthetic, biologic, and targeted synthetic), therapeutic failure, optimization of biologic therapy, nonpharmacological interventions, assessment tools, and follow-up of patients with PsA. Conclusion. Here we present a set of recommendations to guide decision making in the treatment of PsA in Latin America, based on the best evidence available, considering resources, medical expertise, and the patient's values and preferences. The successful implementation of these recommendations should be based on clinical practice conditions, healthcare settings in each country, and a tailored evaluation of patients.
