The electroencephalogram (EEG) is one of the most useful technologies for brain research and clinical neurology, characterized by non-invasiveness and high time resolution. The acquired traces are visibly displayed, but various studies investigate the translation of brain waves in sound (i.e., a process called sonification). Several articles have been published since 1934 about the sonification of EEG traces, in the attempt to identify the "brain-sound." However, for a long time this sonification technique was not used for clinical purposes. The analog EEG was in fact already equipped with an auditory output, although rarely mentioned in scientific papers: the pen-on-paper noise made by the writer unit. EEG technologists often relied on the sound that pens made on paper to facilitate the diagnosis. This article provides a sample of analog video-EEG recordings with audio support representing the strengths of a combined visual-and-auditory detection of different types of seizures. The purpose of the present article is to illustrate how the analog EEG "sounded," as well as to highlight the advantages of this pen-writing noise. It was considered so useful that early digital EEG devices could be equipped with special software to duplicate it digitally. Even in the present days, the sonification can be considered as an attempt to modify the EEG practice using auditory neurofeedback with applications in therapeutic interventions, cognitive improvement, and basic research. Secondary and High School students are usually adolescents, most of them in the urban areas and metropolitan cities are aware about the existence, various opportunities, career paths and advancements of the space industry. They are constantly updated, given they have access to quality and organized education models and a competitive environment. Although, the students in the rural areas who are equally ambitious and talented yet are not fortunate enough to have access to the state of art facilities like the counterparts. Even if they try and gain access with their self-interest, they do not have the motivation to sustain the passion, given their lack of clarity in subject, lack of awareness about engaging in various ways and fields in space other than technological related and mainly lack of driving force. The purpose of this paper is to develop and present an education model, exclusively for the high school students of the rural areas and inculcate sustainable passion for space. As opposed to the primary school students, the secondary school students have a consciousness of the space industry. This paper will talk about various plans and strategies, that will allow them to gain exposure, guide them about the existence of different career paths which are not entirely technological related, yet are still essential in the space like, administrative framework for example. This opens a new dimension in their brain helping them realize how they can be part of the industry in countless ways, and this shall assist them in being on the right track to space. In addition to, hosting creative space themed exhibitions, fun and engaging model design competitions, workshops, all of these would widen their knowledge boundaries and help them challenge their skills. A real time case study example from a school located in the rural southern of India shall be focused on this paper. Virtual reality's (VR) applications in education have been a topic of interest to the academia in recent years. Although literature expands significantly worldwide, the focus on education still presents a high number of opportunities to explore. In Latin America, the literature regarding the use of virtual reality is limited and not yet systematized. Therefore, the present study aims to provide an overview of Latin America's research publications regarding the use of VR in higher education. Using bibliometric measures and coding in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases' outputs, we analyzed 126 papers, the majority of them from social sciences, followed by engineering, business, and medicine. Content tree analysis resulted in 5 dimensions: 'Functional aspects of using VR as a learning tool', 'Teaching strategies and methodologies using VR', 'Behavioral aspects of using VR as a learning tool', 'Outputs of VR use as an educational tool' and 'Competencies and readiness to use VR as a learning tool'. Most publications (74,6%) focus or present as one of the discussions the functional aspects of VR, such as access, viability, usefulness, virtual environment, the association with artificial intelligence, among others. The Circular Economy Action Plan is the main building block of the European Green Deal, Europe's new agenda for sustainable growth. Businesses need new technologies, new methods and new industrial organization either to create new businesses or to transform their products, processes and business models. They also need new talents to innovate, create businesses and new jobs, and transform society into a more sustainable one. Circular economy has grown significantly in recent years as a topic taught in engineering curricula. The purpose of this paper is to present the design, implementation and evaluation of a summer school program dedicated to the development, transformation and implementation of circular economy systems and new business models in manufacturing. The program was designed in collaboration with three university partners during a European project and relied on contributions from industrial companies, including start-ups and innovative companies. At the end, some lessons are drawn in order to show the main added value based on the evaluation of this summer school and to identify recommendations for the design and implementation of similar summer schools. Learning factories that focus solely on education may benefit from replicating software systems that drive processes, activities, and workflows in industrial environments. However, such systems (e.g., PLM, ERP or MES) will not meet the requirements if the learning factory intends to be an environment where education and research merge. The flexibility, volatility, ambiguity and incertitudes that characterise the integrated learning-research environment need to be addressed with an approach that replicates industrial reality, but that also accommodates and stimulates the versatility of the learning factory. This paper depicts how the digital twinning approach integrates the physical units of a learning factory and the software systems, but also data acquisition, simulation, and educational/didactic approaches to production/assembly processes and production optimalisation. The approach thus also includes, for example, IoT, planning, monitoring, diagnosis and (quality) control. In addition, the digital twinning approach is used to combine the current state of the learning factory and its activities with designed (to-be) and potential (could-be) representations of the environment in order to stimulate the evolution/improvement of both research and education and their combination. For this purpose, digital twinning is combined with the concept of daydreaming. The paper illustrates the approach based on an ongoing development trajectory of a new learning factory, in setting it up as an environment for education and simultaneously as a testbed for research. It discusses how the development process relies on the digital twinning approach and how, when the learning factory is commissioned, this digital twinning approach will increasingly integrate the use of and activities in the learning factory into the development/evolution cycle of that learning factory. Blockchain technology (BT) is gaining popularity, and there have been increasing papers on blockchain and education, particularly on how to use blockchains in education. However, as a public ledger which is shared and agreed on by all users in a distributed network, blockchain technology involves unconventional thinking, and learning BT could be challenging for college students. In this paper, we present a project-based learning (PBL) approach for effective education of BT at college level. We first explain why PBL is suitable for BT education and discuss various issues should be considered for project-based learning on blockchain technology. We then discuss several different ways of doing this and offer our suggestions. In this paper, we propose the application of strategic analysis tools to design an educational program. Findings are based on the case of the Master in Innovative Manufacturing Systems (MIMS), a unique training offer to achieve a multidisciplinary expertise in smart manufacturing, in a two-year program simulating the journey of innovation. Building on novel educational paradigms and recent developments in the area of manufacturing, the main goal of the program is to provide the European industry with outstanding experts willing, able, and trained to bring novel solutions that address relevant societal challenges. Public health emergencies, especially pandemics, need to be managed globally, and on several levels, emphasizing the importance of leadership, communication, and synchronization of measures, data, and management plans in contrast to the management of the Coronavirus-19 pandemic, which illustrated diverse strategies employed by various nations. This paper aims to review and discuss whether globalized diseases in a globalized world should be managed by globalized public health. Using a systematic literature search, followed by a non-systematic literature review, selected studies were grouped into topics, and analyzed, using content analysis to enhance the conclusive results. The results present a roadmap towards a re-envisioned framework highlighting key areas of focus: data-driven decision-making, robust technology infrastructure, global cooperation, and ongoing public health education, as part of a coordinated global response. This paper presents a framework of employee skills and competencies useful for developing occupational profiles for employees of companies transitioning towards Industry 4.0. The paper consists of a discussion of the theoretical and practical parts of case studies. The theoretical portion was created on the basis of a review of scientific literature and research studies regarding the competencies and skills of employees in the ongoing fourth industrial revolution. This part focuses on the skills profile of an Industry 4.0 employee and an Operator 4.0 (O4.0) from a creativity and innovativeness point of view. The link between the theoretical part and the case study analysis was a general framework for building the competencies and skills of the steelworker in the emerging fourth industrial revolution. The case study analysis covered the framework of competencies and skills of a metallurgist in smart manufacturing built into the organization of steel mills. Recruitment offers of a steel company implementing smart manufacturing (SM) projects and educational programmes of technical universities in the field of metallurgy were analysed. The aim of the study was to develop a framework for the profile of an employee working in an innovative company transforming to I4.0. This paper investigates the impact of variations in Research and Development Spending and Education Expenditure on GDP variations in Latin America during the period between 2000 and 2019 (20 years). The dependent variable for productivity and competitiveness is the Gross Domestic Product GDP per capita adjusted for purchasing power parity. GDP per capita, the broadest measure of national productivity, is closely linked over time to a nation's standard of living. The econometric model proposed uses the Prais-Winsten methodology and corrected standard errors and first-order autocorrelation correction. We concluded that the variations in spending on education and research and development have a significant and direct effect on the competitiveness and productivity represented in the analyzed GDP. Therefore, the Latin American countries studied (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay) are recommended to invest in education, research, and development, not only as a government effort but also as a policy of all sectors. The Saudi Society of Clinical Pharmacy (SSCP) is a scientific and professional society in the field of clinical pharmacy that operates under the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties governance. The SSCP believes that there is a need to define and describe many aspects related to the clinical pharmacy profession in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, there is an increasing demand for promoting the concept of clinical pharmacy and developing a consensus regarding the scope of practice and clinical pharmacist's required postgraduate education and training in Saudi Arabia. This paper is intended to present several position statements by the SSCP that define the concept of clinical pharmacy, describe the required education and training, and highlight clinical pharmacists' scope of practice in Saudi Arabia. India has a high prevalence of stunting among children under five years of age, despite marginal improvement over the years. In 2019–21, 35.5 per cent of children below five years were stunted (National Family Health Survey (NFHS), 2019–21). This has been attributed to several factors including open defecation, poor maternal nutrition and food insecurity. This paper examines if the birth order of children is associated with variation in height among them, using nationally representative data from the India Human Development Survey (IHDS 2005 & 2011). The objectives of this paper are to: (i) assess the association of a child's birth order with height (ii) test if the association of birth order with height changes with the degree of son preference (iii) analyse the relationship between birth order and educational outcomes of children. Our results suggest that (i) the height-for-age z score is negatively associated with the birth order of the child (ii) the negative association of birth order with height is stronger for mothers who have a moderate or high degree of son preference, especially when children have an older brother (iii) maternal characteristics such as education could mitigate the negative relationship between birth order and height when son preference is low but not when son preference is high (iv) birth order has a negative association with the reading, writing and mathematical ability of children, especially if the child was stunted in childhood. This indicates that the fertility behaviour of families has both a direct and an indirect impact, which could influence both long term nutrition and education of children. • Birth order is negatively associated with a child's height-for age z-score. • Effects of birth order might persist in the long-term and are associated with a child's learning outcomes. • Parental preferences for an elder born son may influence the association of birth order with height-for age. • Mother's education may mitigate the negative impact of son preference for later born children. Applying artificial intelligence in education is relevant to addressing the current educational crises. Many available solutions apply Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to help improve educational outcomes. Therefore, a series of works have been developed integrating techniques in different educational contexts, for instance, in online teaching practices. Given the various studies and the relevance of CNNs for educational applications, this paper presents a systematic literature review to discuss the state-of-the-art. We reviewed 133 papers from the IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, and Scopus databases. Based on our revision, we discuss characteristics of studies such as publication venues, educational context, datasets, types of CNNs models, and performance of models. We evidence that the literature regarding CNNs still misses more studies discussing educational problems faced by Global South students, considering both teaching and learning perspectives. To fulfill ACGME requirements, radiology residency programs are required to provide an educational experience that includes a core didactic curriculum for each subspecialty. Although developing and delivering such a core curriculum may not present a problem for large academic programs, it can present a significant challenge for smaller programs with limited faculty in each subspecialty area. Success of the core curriculum lectures series developed for cardiothoracic radiology by the Society of Thoracic Radiology and for musculoskeletal radiology by the International Skeletal Society in collaboration with the Society for Skeletal Radiology prompted the idea of creating a comprehensive core curriculum lecture series encompassing all subspecialties. This paper aims to describe the multi-society collaborative effort entailed in building a curated, on line resident focused core curriculum lecture series detailing the barriers encountered, effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and impact of the finished project. The digital transformation of manufacturing companies is a huge driver of complexity in organizational structures and processes. Challenges such as an increasing number of variants, rapid changes in technology, and a multitude of interfaces between IT systems within companies require changed qualifications in the workforce. Employees lack a profound understanding of the added value that digitalization can bring to the company and themselves. To address these challenges, simulation games are a suitable approach. Simulation games are active learning methods that simulate real systems in an artificial environment. The goal is to give employees the opportunity to gain experience and make decisions without creating a pressure situation or endangering the real production system. This enables them to better understand, evaluate and design real systems. In order to make optimal use of simulation games in manufacturing companies, they should be customized to the company and its employees due to individual processes and structures. This paper presents a procedure model for designing a concept of individualized simulation games for manufacturing companies in the context of digitalization. It starts with the identification of requirements. Subsequently, the requirements of the individual elements are combined into a holistic simulation game. The manufacturing industry involves innumerable complex tasks that require significant knowledge and experience to execute. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, particularly with the emergence of powerful large language models such as ChatGPT, new opportunities have risen to provide knowledge through conversation. With its seemingly endless knowledge base and highly organized response style, ChatGPT is expected to revolutionize every aspect of the industry. However, the extent of ChatGPT's capabilities and how they could contribute to the industry's future revolution remains unclear. In light of this, this paper performed a systematic testing of ChatGPT to uncover its advantages and limitations. Based on the testing results, the authors provided some prospects and critical research questions of ChatGPT from a manufacturing perspective. Education about health sciences has historically been limited in the curriculum of health professionals and largely inaccessible to the public. In practice, most of the health science education is still running conventionally. Supposedly with the advancement of technology and the use of the internet everywhere, learning such as e-learning can be important, especially in the health sector. Until this research was conducted, only 514 academic documents about e-learning in health sciences were found for 20 years from 2001 to 2020, obtained in searching on the Scopus database. This study presents a comprehensive overview of studies related to E-learning in the Health Sciences sector. This study uses bibliometric analysis and indexed digital methods to map scientific publications throughout the world. This research employs the Scopus database to gather information, as well as the Scopus online analysis tool and Vosviewer to show the bibliometric network. The method consists with five stages: determining search keywords, initial search results, refinement of search results, initial compilation, and data analysis. Among the most published and indexed articles by Scopus, papers published by researchers in the United States have the highest number of publications (80), followed by United Kingdom (63) and Australia with 45 academic publications. Astrotourism and related citizen science activities are becoming a major trend of a sustainable, high-quality tourism segment, core elements to the protection of Dark skies in many countries. In the Summer of 2020, in the middle of COVID pandemics, we started an initiative to train young students – Cyber-Cosmos – using an Unistellar eVscope, a smart, compact and user-friendly digital telescope that offers unprecedented opportunities for deep-sky observation and citizen science campaigns. Sponsored by the Ciência Viva Summer program, this was probably the first continuous application of this equipment in a pedagogical and citizen-science context, and in a pandemic context. Social enterprises are currently receiving significant attention from academics and practitioners because of their hybrid nature to achieve profit while achieving the planned social mission. To achieve their social mission as well as financial sustainability, social enterprises need to have the ability to carry out innovation for sustainability which helps them balance these two goals. In hybrid organizations, such as social enterprises, priorities in financial and social missions may conflict, resulting in managerial tensions and stakeholder pressure, making open innovation (OI) by involving external parties essential. This paper aims to explore OI for sustainability in social enterprises. The research question posed is: what innovation for sustainability practices do social enterprises implement and, how does the mechanism of OI for sustainability work in social enterprises? A multiple case study approach is used by taking four leading social enterprises in the education sector located in West Java, Indonesia. Our findings indicate that sustainability innovation is practiced by social enterprises in the form of providing social benefits such as paying for the education costs of their students and providing social services for the surrounding community. Beyond that, ecological benefits are provided in the form of reducing waste and using unproductive land in a productive manner. Innovation is performed with a different approach from one case to another. All cases studied collaborate with parties external to the organization to be able to implement sustainability innovation. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical research on sustainability innovation in the context of social enterprises, which is still rarely found in the literature. The Australian citizen science research programs, VegeSafe and DustSafe, are novel and wide-reaching. Together, they capture the largest number of community-generated domestic garden soil and indoor house dust samples and associated trace metal analysis of any similar programme globally, totalling 26,500 samples from 7,200 homes in Australia alone. All citizen science research programs need to balance often conflicting expectations and imperatives of the researchers and the participants. This paper assesses VegeSafe and DustSafe participant and researcher outcomes against common goals of citizen science programs, including participant engagement, accessibility, motivations and learning in order to evaluate the programs' impact and usefulness. Questionnaire data from 522 questionnaires were analysed which showed that VegeSafe and DustSafe have: enhanced participants' involvement in science (76%), understanding of science (62%); addressed specific community concerns (91%); and were considered useful (93%). The success of the VegeSafe and DustSafe programs can be measured by the number of samples received, households engaged and its geographic footprint across Australia's most populated cities. The participant questionnaire provided deeper insight into positive participant outcomes, including participant autonomy in the scientific process and changes in attitudes and behaviours towards science. Many participants adopted interventions to mitigate potential toxic trace metal exposure in their domestic spaces after receiving their results. The VegeSafe and DustSafe programs provide valuable examples of how to establish programs to meet community needs effectively, educate the community and bring about positive change to ultimately improve community health. This paper contributes to analysis of missions of environmental non-government organizations (ENGOs) in environmental stewardship. The literature identifies a diversity of roles including tension between ENGOs working directly with government to participate in decision making processes and exerting influence on government through public education and direct action. We offer additional insights and note a shift in missions over time by reporting on a case study of missions and activities of environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs) focusing on the conservation and protection of the transboundary waters of the Salish Sea marine environment. The case study is based on a survey of 119 ENGO websites and interviews with 17 environmental ENGO leaders. We note growing awareness of the value of efforts in education and strategic communication initiatives, both internally and externally, and comment on challenges with transboundary collaborations. We propose opportunities for better coordination, notably across the international border. We also call for investment in communities of practice to support, among other things, awareness-raising and communication, data sharing, and advancing the role of creativity and the arts to foster environmental stewardship. Phishing attacks are one of the most common forms of information security threats. Previous research indicates that users with higher educational levels are less susceptible to phishing attacks. The paper's goal is to investigate the occurrence of phishing attacks in European countries, considering the educational level of individuals. Fuzzy clustering has been used for grouping European countries according to the educational level of individuals and the occurrence of phishing attacks. Contrary to the rationale that more educated users are less susceptible to internet fraud, the results indicate that these individuals are more susceptible to phishing attacks. The implementation of integrated vascular surgery training programs was recently shown to be associated with an increase in women entering the field. However, whether this has precipitated a subsequent increase in the active participation of women in academic vascular societies remains unclear. We sought to examine the trends of academic inclusion of women vascular surgeons and surgical trainees over the past 15 years at the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery (SAVS). Scientific programs for annual meetings of the SAVS, and program matriculation statistics from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, were reviewed for the period of 2006 to 2020. Yearly rates and 3-year averages of conference and society participation and vascular surgery training program matriculation rates were calculated and compared with proportion testing. Spearman correlation testing was used to compare trends, with ρ ≥0.600 defined as a strong correlation. Examining 3-year means, the average number of women authors per SAVS abstract increased from 0.78 to 1.42 over the course of the study period (P <.001), and the overall rate of women authors steadily increased from 12.8% to 21.5% (P <.001). Although this remains less than the proportion of women matriculating into vascular surgery programs in 2019 (29.3%; P =.007), the upward trend of women entering vascular surgery overall, and particularly vascular surgery fellowship, strongly correlates with the average number of women authors on abstracts at SAVS (ρ = 0.709 and ρ = 0.737, respectively). The percentage of women presenting authors increased from 9.7% to 28.4% (P =.004), but there was no increase in the percentage of women senior authors (10.1% to 9.6%; P =.92). In the 15-year period, only one abstract of 347 (0.3%) had full authorship by women vs 35.1% with full authorship by men (P <.001). Although the increase of women matriculating into vascular surgery programs over the study period did not correlate with the increase of women in senior leadership positions (ρ < 0.600), there was an increase in the number of women in committee chair positions (0.0% to 25.9%; P =.005), which correlated strongly with increasing society membership (ρ = 0.716). Additionally, there was an increase in women holding executive council positions from 0% to 10.0% (P =.08), although this was not statistically significant. Participation of women authoring and presenting papers at the SAVS has increased over the past 15 years at a rate that strongly correlates with the increasing rate of women entering vascular surgery training programs. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate several machine learning models under the CRISP-DM methodology in order to determine, through its metrics, the best model for predicting the performance of high school students in the Colombian Caribbean region in the Saber 11º test, while proposing a new methodology for evaluating the results of the test by regions in order to take into account the socioeconomic particularities of each one of them. The CRISP-DM methodology is taken as a basis due to its maturity, this methodology allows the extraction of business and data knowledge, offers a guide for data preparation, modeling and validation of the models; it is expected that the proposed methodology will be implemented by the Colombian Institute for the Promotion of Higher Education (ICFES), departmental education secretariats and educational institutions. A variety of techniques and tools were used to develop ETL processes to obtain a data set with the most relevant attributes, in order to evaluate four machine learning models developed with the J48 (C4.5), LMT, PART and Multilayer Perceptron algorithms; obtaining that the best data set and the best learning model is obtained using the InfoGain attribute selection method and the LMT decision tree algorithm, respectively. Therefore, this project will facilitate the actors of the National Education System to make decisions for the benefit of students and the quality of education in the country, especially in the Caribbean region. This systematic review evaluates current literature on the impact vision impairment has on reading and literacy levels within education. Six databases were searched with inclusion criteria of trials or studies involving children who are blind or vision impaired, and impact on academic or school performance – including reading and literacy. 1262 articles were identified, with 61 papers undergoing full screening. Quality appraisal was performed using Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) and seven articles deemed eligible for inclusion. Included articles achieved a quality score of over 70 % using the CASP checklists. Direct comparison of articles was not possible due to methodological differences in assessing reading and literacy levels. All seven studies investigated aspects of reading speed, with additional measures of reading performance, such as reading reserve, comprehension, and reading accuracy. Underlying trends highlighted students with a vision impairment do not perform at same level as their normally sighted peers with respect to reading performance - in terms of speed, but not ability. Additionally, early intervention to enhance literacy skills may help improve educational outcomes. Future direction should be aimed at identifying specific obstacles to learning these students face and providing interventions to improve academic outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This introductory article to the special issue provides a brief theoretical introduction to pragmatic research on the communication and dissemination of domain-specific knowledge across new media, discussing some of the central problems, such as the impact of digital technologies on understanding and learning, the changes in the participation framework, their impact on the construction of credibility and identity. We also call attention to the need for multimodal and hypermodal analysis of the processes of recontextualisation in selected genres. In this context, the papers in the special issue converge in presenting a nuanced view of a broad range of phenomena. Rationale and Objectives: Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly emerged as a field poised to affect nearly every aspect of medicine, especially radiology. A PubMed search for the terms "artificial intelligence radiology" demonstrates an exponential increase in publications on this topic in recent years. Despite these impending changes, medical education designed for future radiologists have only recently begun. We present our institution's efforts to address this problem as a model for a successful introductory curriculum into artificial intelligence in radiology titled AI-RADS.Materials and Methods: The course was based on a sequence of foundational algorithms in AI; these algorithms were presented as logical extensions of each other and were introduced as familiar examples (spam filters, movie recommendations, etc.). Since most trainees enter residency without computational backgrounds, secondary lessons, such as pixel mathematics, were integrated in this progression. Didactic sessions were reinforced with a concurrent journal club highlighting the algorithm discussed in the previous lecture. To circumvent often intimidating technical descriptions, study guides for these papers were produced. Questionnaires were administered before and after each lecture to assess confidence in the material. Surveys were also submitted at each journal club assessing learner preparedness and appropriateness of the article.Results: The course received a 9.8/10 rating from residents for overall satisfaction. With the exception of the final lecture, there were significant increases in learner confidence in reading journal articles on AI after each lecture. Residents demonstrated significant increases in perceived understanding of foundational concepts in artificial intelligence across all mastery questions for every lecture.Conclusion: The success of our institution's pilot AI-RADS course demonstrates a workable model of including AI in resident education. Given that artificial intelligence and machine learning is now a reality of modern existence, rapidly being applied to medicine, and especially radiology, we submit a new educational perspective. By codifying technology education during the diagnostic radiology internship, we believe it is not only possible but necessary, to reframe the identity of diagnostic radiology. This paper describes the restructuring of the radiology clinical internship, limiting clinical rotations to high-yield essentials, thereby allowing for the introduction of data and technology science, and comprehensive medical physics training. By linking modality-immersion based training with the physics of each technology, we postulate a more thorough understanding and, ultimately, the mastery of current and future technological innovations. Concurrently we advocate for the study of artificial intelligence and machine learning in order to understand how radiologists can apply this technology to help patients on the precision and population health levels. This training would allow interns to spend the majority of their time under the umbrella of a radiology department, in lieu of multiple rotations on an assortment of clinical services. An in-depth technology and physics exam at the end of the internship would be a natural transition to the start of the R1 year, allowing for the application of this newly attained knowledge throughout their residency. Diagnostic radiologists have led medicine into the digital era, and now we should lead the medical community into this transformational era as the "Data-Driven Physician" of the 21st century. The aim of the paper is to analyse the possibilities of using IT tools supporting education for customer relationship management on the example of IPMA-Student Portal. The tool was created to support partner universities and their students in the development of competencies and certification in project management; however, by way of putting it to use, collecting information about users, and communicating with them, the tool can be treated as a means of strengthening and improving relationships with universities and students. The primary role of a teacher from a technical high school in Japan is to teach the students the specialized knowledge and skills for the target industry such as manufacturing. At the same time, it is nothing to say to enhance the humanity of the students. The society of teachers is aging same as the aging and the birth rate decline society as the whole environment of Japan. From those backgrounds, teachers in the technical high school with educational capability who can teach students appropriately are required. One of the methods to improve the educational capability of teachers more than ever, we propose a method to quantify the educational capability in this paper. The educational capability of each teacher can be confirmed objectively at the same time by our proposed method. From the result of analyses, the educational capability of teachers is obtained from the results of the questionnaire. The paper proposes a formalisation using ontology for providing an inclusive approach of universities' websites, having as instance a software application component using Alexa smart speaker, that currently remains at a design level, which integrates different services (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Services) for a proper virtual environment platform, for both students and teachers. It addresses the main concerns of the current educational system and provides a smart solution through the use of Artificial Intelligence based tools. This paper studies the effect on the spread of Sars-Cov-2 in Italy of schools' re-openings and closures. Exploiting different re-opening dates across regions after the summer break of 2020, I show that early-opening regions experienced more cases in the 40 days following school re-openings compared with late-opening ones. However, there is great uncertainty around the estimates, and this suggests a wide dispersion in the effects of school re-openings on Sars-Cov-2 transmission. I also study the effect of school closures in Campania, one of the biggest regions in Southern Italy. Using a synthetic control approach, I show that school closures are associated with lower numbers of cases relative to the counterfactual group, particularly in younger age groups. In contrast, I find no significant effects on older age groups, which are more likely to require hospitalization. This paper uses cutbacks to a post-secondary funding program for Indigenous peoples in Canada to understand how changes in the costs of higher education affect the educational attainment and labour market outcomes of Indigenous groups. I exploit exogenous variation in exposure to student aid across cohorts and ethnicities to show that increasing the costs of post-secondary education not only affects post-secondary attainment but can also lead to a sizable decrease in high school graduation rates. After reductions in targeted student aid in the late 1980s, high school graduation rates declined by five percentage points on Indian reserves. I suggest that this finding is consistent with a model of human capital acquisition in which the return to a high school degree is low. In this framework, some students complete high school in order to attend a post-secondary institution. When post-secondary education is no longer affordable, some students may no longer find it worthwhile to complete high school. Many education policies in low income countries impose eligibility limits, and these can generate household responses that distribute educational investments across children. In this paper, I study the effects of eligibility limits in the context of the Universal Primary Education (UPE) reform in Uganda. The program abolished elementary school fees for up to four children per household, with families paying fees on each additional child. Depending on the composition of children and their age at the onset of the reform, the policy generates costs for primary school that vary both within and across households. Children that are eligible for the tuition waiver but live in households with ineligible siblings complete fewer years of schooling. I estimate that the presence of ineligible siblings wiped out almost half of the overall impact of the UPE reform on educational attainment, with the effects concentrated among the poorest households. There are teacher shortages in the U.S. and around the world. In a three-year field experiment with a large teacher placement program, Teach For America (TFA), Coffman et al. (2019) finds that providing upfront liquidity to prospective teachers in financial need dramatically increases the rate at which they start teaching through TFA. In this paper, we combine TFA administrative data, survey data, and publicly available data (e.g., LinkedIn profiles) to extend those results. We follow individuals for a few years post treatment and find that providing upfront liquidity not only increases the rate that financially constrained individuals join TFA but also increases the rate that they complete the full two years of teaching. Consumers are typically confused and lack knowledge relating to disposing of food packaging sustainably; accordingly, targeted education may help to encourage more sustainable practices and subsequently modulate behaviour. In addition, children represent the next generation, and they need to be involved, informed and inspired so that they can practise correct food packaging disposal from an early age. This paper investigates: (1) children's knowledge relating to food packaging symbols and disposal; and (2) the role of education on children's sustainable food packaging behaviour. A series of workshops were undertaken at primary schools to educate children (7–11 years; n = 195) via interactive, informative and fun activities relating to food packaging symbols and disposal. Children were also provided with an activity booklet and ten food items to be completed at-home for one-week to track appropriate food packaging disposal. Education (pre vs post) had a significant effect on improving knowledge relating to food packaging symbols (tidyman and green dot) and correct disposal practices for the juice bottle, baked bean can, jelly pot, ketchup bottle and pizza box. Importantly, children were able to incorporate sustainable food packaging practices at home; 65% of children correctly identified the right bin for most food items. Overall, there was significant impact on children's learning (84% learnt something new) and future behaviour (83% will change future food packaging disposal behaviour). Therefore, more emphasis should be placed on educating the next generation to promote a shift in everyday sustainable food packaging behaviour. • Interactive, informative and fun activities were delivered in school and home settings. • Children had knowledge gaps regarding food packaging symbols and disposal. • Targeted education encourages more sustainable disposal practices among children. This paper estimates the effects of extending the school day during elementary school on students' educational outcomes later in life. The analysis takes place in the context of a large-scale program introduced in 2007 that extended the school day from 4.5 to 8 h in Mexico City's metropolitan area. The identification strategy leverages cohort-by-cohort variation in full-time enrollment in elementary schools. The results indicate that full-time elementary schools have positive and long-lasting effects on students' performance, increasing high-stakes high school admission test scores by 4.8 percent of a standard deviation. The effects are larger for females than for males. The difference in the effects between males and females of 2.1 percent of a standard deviation represents 16% of the gender gap in the high school admission exam. Increased education affects market and non-market outcomes. This paper investigates the causal impact of the extension of compulsory education from 6 to 9 years on females' education, marriage, and fertility outcomes in Thailand. Using data from the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) and a donut-hole Regression Discontinuity (RD) design, we show that the new law increases lower secondary school completion in girls, leading to decreased probabilities of giving birth in the school-age years (14–17 years). The policy primarily affects the marginal child leading to the postponement of the timing of their fertility to after-school years. We also document heterogeneity and show that the fertility effects are stronger for Muslim women. The policy leads to a consistent drop in the probability of marriage and cumulative births for Muslim women, which sustain beyond the completion of schooling years. This paper studies how introducing free school track choice in Germany's between-school tracking system through a repeal of binding track recommendations affects track decisions by socio-economic status (SES). While highest track enrollment increases for previously ineligible high-SES students relative to comparable low-SES students, the SES gap does not increase. This is because previously eligible low-SES student become more likely to enroll in the highest track. A key mechanism for this response appears to be lower preferences for the intermediate track due to concerns about the inflow of mostly low-achieving and low-SES students from the lowest track after the repeal. Construction management courses are increasingly teaching digital technologies and automation. The default method to teach construction scheduling remains the critical path method, which suffers from lack of automation, lack of dynamic change processes, and wrong assumptions about resource and spatial availability. New methods to automate construction scheduling, sometimes referred to as generative construction scheduling, have been developed but are seldom taught in construction management courses. This paper describes the design of a new curriculum to teach one new approach to construction scheduling called the Tri-Constraint Method. The proposed five-lesson, flipped-classroom curriculum is designed to illustrate limitations of the critical path method, explain the theoretical and computational foundations of a generative scheduling algorithm, and provide practical experience through implementation with state-of-the-art software. To measure the impact of the curriculum on student learning, the paper conducts a descriptive statistical analysis, a paired t -test, and an examination of qualitative feedback. Students who entered the course with either low or high prior knowledge of construction scheduling showed significant improvement in their understanding of the key concepts and the algorithmic approach behind the generative construction scheduling. Overall, this paper demonstrates how curriculum design in engineering informatics can combine theoretical understanding and practical implementation to understand generative construction scheduling. The dissemination of this and similar teaching curricula can ensure that future engineering practitioners avoid "black box" implementations of automation software in their future careers. The paper examines the long-term impact of the India-Pakistan war of 1999 on the educational attainment of children born to families of soldiers who survived the war. Based on the assumption that military families faced higher levels of psychological stress than civilian families during the war period, the paper uses a difference-in-difference methodology with household fixed effects to show that the education of military children exposed to the war during their formative years suffered significantly. An examination of the consumption expenditure pattern of military and civilian households suggests that the effect was unlikely to be via resource-related channels. Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) are important tools to analyse cross-sectoral interdependencies and the use of global resources. Most current tools are highly detailed and require expert knowledge and proprietary software to generate scenarios and analyse their insights. In this paper, the complementary Global Least-cost User-friendly CLEWs Open-Source Exploratory (GLUCOSE) model is presented as a highly-aggregated global IAM, open and accessible from source to solver and using the OSeMOSYS tool and the CLEWs framework. The model enables the exploration of policy measures on the future development of the integrated resource system. Thanks to its relatively simple structure, it requires low computational resources allowing for the generation of a large number of scenarios or to quickly conduct preliminary investigations. Evidence is lacking on how inequality in homeowner uptake of solar panels has changed over time. This paper assesses changes in inequality over time using four Australian household surveys from 2012 to 2020. There is evidence of an intuitive transition where average uptake for homeowners with net-wealth just below the median (the fourth and fifth deciles) improved first, with subsequent gains for homeowners in the third net-wealth decile. However, there were still some significant shortfalls by 2020, especially for the first (i.e. lowest) net-wealth decile. In particular, the lowest net-wealth decile had lower uptake by 9.4 percentage points in 2012 and there was a similar gap below the highest decile of 10.6 percentage points in 2019–20. With control variables these corresponding gaps were 8.0 and 8.3 percentage points respectively. Inequality and changes have been less pronounced based on other aspects like education, income, and welfare status. A new policy implication is that Australian support should primarily target the bottom two net-wealth deciles among homeowners. Australia's experience can inform policies for other countries and clean energy technologies. There is growing interest by both educators and policymakers in helping underperforming students catch up using computer assisted learning (CAL). While CAL interventions have been shown to be effective internationally and elsewhere in China, these have been mostly offline CAL programs that are difficult and costly to implement. An online CAL (OCAL) may be able to bypass many of offline CAL's implementation problems and enhance the remedial tutoring experience. The objective of this paper is to examine the impact of an OCAL intervention on the academic and non-academic performance of students and to explore the mechanism behind OCAL's impact. According to the findings, OCAL improved overall English scores of students in the treatment group relative to the control group by 0.48 standard deviations. This impact is large when compared with offline CAL programs previously evaluated in rural China. We found that OCAL also led to a positive change in the attitudes of students towards English learning and student aspirations for their future education level. We found three possible explanations for OCAL's impact. We believe that online features that enhance the interest-oriented stimulation of the software is the main source of improvement among students. Cost-effectiveness analysis showed that the OCAL program is more cost-effective than traditional offline CAL, which is suitable for policymakers as it indicates high potential for OCAL program expansion. The COVID-19 pandemic has led governments worldwide to impose extensive restrictions on citizens, some of which may have long-term impact after their removal. Education is arguably the policy domain where closure policies are anticipated to lead to greatest lasting loss, in this case learning loss. Currently, limited data exists from which researchers and practitioners can draw insightful conclusions about how to remedy the problem. In this paper, we outline the global pattern in pandemic school-closure periods and illustrate data needs through the examples drawn from Brazil and India, two large countries which experienced prolonged periods of school closures during the pandemic. We conclude with a series of recommendations for building an improved data environment at government, school and household levels, to serve the building back agenda in education, and to provide better opportunities for evidence-based policymaking thereafter. • Centralized data platforms at the government level are critical for the COVID-19 recovery agenda in education. • Data collection and provision should focus on supporting school professionals. • Alternative assessments such as household surveys can complement traditional classroom assessments to support decision making.
