Jacques Lacan is a famous French psychoanalyst, but his influence has long gone beyond the scope of psychoanalysis and has affected almost all fields of "human science." Film and psychoanalysis coincided almost simultaneously and influenced each other. But with the development of film, researchers found that film studies in the period of classic film and film semiotics have come to an end. It has certain theoretical value to explore the construction of the subject and the mental model of the erotic film based on Lacan's desire theory. Method. The body in the film and video described in this paper includes both the material body as an aesthetic object and the spiritual body with aesthetic consciousness. The so-called artistic presentation of the body element means that the beauty of the body form displayed by the actor's body in the film video is perceived by the audience, and the desire to stare is captured by the audience, thereby completing the audience's entire body composed of eyes, body, and mind. The body is not only an aesthetic object but also an aesthetic subject, and the human cognitive system is not just a closed brain. Because the nervous system, body, and environment are constantly changing and interacting, true cognition is a unified system of all three. The main part of this paper uses Lacan's psychoanalytic theory to deeply analyze the relationship between the characters shown in the film. From the cognitive impairment of the self to the failure of communication between characters, the language of uncertainty entangled by desire is removed, and the behavior and facial expressions of the movie characters are used as the analysis basis to fully interpret the inner world of the characters. This includes love, hatred, pain, struggle, and many other contradictory emotions. In addition, this paper also analyzes the metaphor of the relationship between the characters from the perspective of semiotics and discusses the description of the relationship between the characters from the lens language from the perspective of cinematography. The special meaning conveyed by the recurring elements in the film is emphasized, and the correlation between the pictures is explained from the less mentioned photographic aspect of the film. This paper uses the theory of mental health education to conduct an in-depth study and analysis of teachers' educational management, and based on this, it designs a survey method on teachers' status and analyzes its strategic methods based on the results of the survey. Using literature analysis, questionnaires, survey interviews, and statistical analysis, the analysis of mental health of primary and secondary school teachers in the city was made. The results of the survey and analysis of the questionnaire results were used to construct a compatible mental health evaluation model. It was found that the overall level of elementary school teachers' mental health is poor at present, and different levels of mental health were presented with school sections and ages. A total of 286 questionnaires were distributed, 278 valid questionnaires were returned, and statistical analysis was conducted using EXCEL tables based on the collected data. The data analysis results show that the mental health level of teachers in middle school is significantly lower than that of teachers in primary school, and the mental health level of teachers in primary and secondary schools decreases with the increase of age. Therefore, to prevent the small and the gradual, start from the source; do a good job in the publicity of mental health education in peacetime; popularize the knowledge of mental health, so that teachers have a correct understanding of mental health education; improve the professional level of teachers; set up professional teachers in professional positions; establish sound job system and evaluation system, etc. Promote the balanced development of school psychological counseling rooms, strengthen the construction of professional teachers in mental health education, improve various systems of mental health education, comprehensively popularize teachers' mental health education and training, and mobilize teachers' enthusiasm for scientific research on mental health education. In order to study the intelligent psychology system, this paper proposes the role of adaptive neural network based on it and uses the ICAP learning method to compare with it. Acceptance is a term used by healthcare professionals regarding patients' psychosocial adjustment to chronic conditions. This paper describes a triangulation approach, applied over 25 years, to develop and evaluate a theory of adolescent acceptance of asthma. The theory was used to guide the development and evaluation of an education and counseling program focused on fostering acceptance. The approach was effective in (a) defining acceptance and isolating its attributes; (b) identifying its antecedents and consequences, and specifying relationships among them; (c) revealing overlooked variables and augmenting theory; and (d) using theory to guide development and evaluation of the self‐management program. Older adults are increasingly a target for cyber‐attacks; however, very little research has investigated how they feel about engaging in protective cyber‐security behaviors. We developed and applied a novel card‐sorting task to elicit how older adults feel about protective cyber‐security behaviors and to identify the factors that impact their confidence in executing these behaviors. Nineteen task‐assisted interviews were conducted with UK older adults. A thematic analysis revealed that older adults see protective online behaviors as important, but their reasons for disengagement fell into three categories: I do not want to (essentially, because the costs outweigh the benefits), I do not need to (e.g. because it is not my responsibility), and I am unable to (which includes heightened anxiety about doing something wrong). Underlying confidence around engagement with protective behaviors was a function of three factors: personal competence (related to good computer self‐efficacy and relevant past experience), support (having a good network for information and advice), and demand (the effort of keeping up to date with the latest advice). Ultimately, we found that older adults are keen to protect themselves but are lacking appropriate support and we discuss implications for developers, researchers, and policy makers. We apply this to identify reasons as to why older adults may not engage in security behaviors as well as identifying a number of reasons why older adults actively avoid engaging in security behaviors. This article applies quantitative methods from complex network analysis to investigate and compare the organization of L1 and L2 lexical-semantic networks. Forty-eight English learners with Chinese as their native language completed a semantic fluency task, first in English and then in Chinese, based on which two lexical-semantic networks were constructed. Comparison at the global level found that the L1 lexical-semantic network displays more prominent small-world and scale-free features and a clearer modular structure in comparison with its L2 counterpart. Locally, although the two lexical-semantic networks share most of their central words, they differ remarkably in their composition and the connection pattern of their peripheral words. Specifically, L1 peripheral words are likely to connect with each other to form local modules while L2 peripheral words tend to connect with central words. Moreover, word centrality was found to be closely related to time of generation, generation frequency, and accuracy in fluency tasks, and such tendency is more obvious in L1 than in L2. The findings demonstrate the advantages of quantitative analysis granted by network science in the investigation of mental lexicon and provide insights for lexical representation research and classroom vocabulary instructions. When older people move into a care home, family members often continue to be involved in caregiving. This can include contributing to discussion and decisions about care and treatment, especially when the resident lacks capacity. However, families may not know what to expect as their relative's condition progresses and may not have a good understanding of their relative's end-of-life care and treatment wishes. Therefore, although often willing, families may feel unprepared for making decisions in advance of or at the time of deterioration and end-of-life. The study aimed to explore the potential role that peer-mentors might have in supporting families to prepare for discussion and decisions about care and treatment and to understand what participants would consider to be important characteristics of an effective peer-mentor and peer-mentoring program. The study was guided by the philosophical assumptions of social constructionism. Data from semistructured interviews with 14 current and 15 bereaved family members and 11 senior members of care were analysed thematically. Findings suggest that peer-mentors could help to empower families to prepare to be involved in discussions and decisions about the types of care their relatives might receive as their health deteriorates and they reach the end-of-life. However, it was seen as important that peer-mentors have lived experience of supporting a relative in a care home, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to discuss deterioration and end-of-life in a compassionate but factual manner. Although peer-mentoring is often time-limited, introducing mentors to families earlier in the care journey, for example, before admission into a care home, could enable a trusting relationship to develop. Aims: To assess associations of psychosocial factors with medication adherence in young adults with youth‐onset type 2 diabetes in the Treatment Options for type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY2) cohort. Methods: Participants (mean age 26 years) completed validated psychosocial measures. Adherence to oral hypoglycemia agents (OHAs) was assessed with 3‐monthly unannounced phone pill counts; insulin adherence by self‐report. Logistic and linear regressions identified factors associated with "low‐adherence" (<80% of pills/insulin) controlling for confounders. Results: Of 212 participants taking OHAs (67% female, 39% Hispanic, 36% non‐Hispanic Black), 69.8% were low‐adherent. After adjustment, beliefs that medicines are necessary was associated with lower odds of low‐adherence (p = 0.040, dichotomous). Less self‐management support (p = 0.008), no healthcare coverage (p = 0.001), ≥1 (p = 0.008)/≥2 (p = 0.045) need insecurities were associated with higher odds of low‐adherence. Factors associated with lower % adherence (continuous) were beliefs that medicines are harmful (p < 0.001)/overused (p = 0.007)/less necessary (p = 0.022), low self‐management support (p = 0.003), food insecurity (p = 0.036), no healthcare coverage (p < 0.001), ≥1 (p = 0.003)/≥2 (p = 0.018) need insecurities. Of 192 taking insulin (69% female, 36% Hispanic, 41% non‐Hispanic Black, 16% non‐Hispanic white), 37.0% were low‐adherent. Beliefs that medicines are overused (p = 0.009), that diabetes is not serious (p = 0.010), low diabetes self‐efficacy (p = 0.035), high distress (p = 0.027), low self‐management support (p = 0.001), food insecurity (p = 0.020), ≥1 (p = 0.011)/≥2 (p = 0.015) insecurities increased odds of insulin low‐adherence. Conclusion s : Poor medication adherence, common in young adults with youth‐onset type 2 diabetes, is associated with interfering beliefs, diabetes distress and social factors. Objective: Adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) frequently experience psychosocial concerns, and mental health screening is becoming increasingly common in routine diabetes care. However, little is known about what adolescents or their caregivers think about the role of mental health screening and intervention within the context of comprehensive diabetes care, or how their diabetes care providers should be involved in navigating mental health concerns. This study used qualitative methods to obtain the perspectives of adolescents with T1D and their caregivers regarding these issues. Methods: Participants were 13 adolescents with T1D (ages 12–19 years; M = 15.1 years; 53.8% female; 61.5% Hispanic/Latinx White) and 13 mothers, recruited from an outpatient pediatric endocrinology clinic in South Florida, who participated in semi‐structured interviews via video teleconference. Thematic content analysis was used to evaluate participants' responses. Results: Adolescents and their mothers reported positive experiences with the clinic's psychosocial screening procedures and appreciated meeting with the psychology team during visits. They wanted the clinic to offer more opportunities for peer support. Mothers highlighted barriers to seeking mental health care outside of the clinic and the importance of mental health professionals understanding diabetes. Mothers also wanted the clinic to offer more on‐site therapeutic services. Complex traumatic experiences, such as childhood sexual and physical abuse, occur in approximately 13% of the Australian population and are more common in women. Despite the prevalence of complex trauma and the need for evidence‐based services for survivors, no studies have explored treatment‐related experiences of women with complex trauma in Australia. The aim of the current study was to identify barriers and facilitators to treatment seeking and engagement amongst women who have experienced complex trauma in Australia. Semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 11 women with complex trauma histories who presented to a university outpatient psychology clinic. Content analysis was used to identify common barriers and facilitators to mental health treatment seeking and engagement amongst these women. Participants faced three key barriers when seeking treatment and engaging in mental health services: systemic issues, dissatisfaction with treatment and intrapersonal barriers (e.g. fear of the healthcare system). Appropriate support from supportive, committed health care workers was a facilitator to engagement and access. Findings from this study suggest that the mental health system in Australia may not be meeting the needs of women with complex trauma histories. Increasing access to affordable, trauma‐informed care and bolstering providers' knowledge of complex trauma, may enable some of the barriers identified by participants to be overcome. Grandparental care has become an involuntary choice in life for many families, mainly due to parents' unavailability to provide care and the lack of public or affordable private childcare. This phenomenon has raised concerns regarding the effects of grandparental care along the dimensions of child development. This study aims to test the association between grandparental care and child development in three dimensions: subjective wellbeing, behavioural traits and study performance. It used data from the 2018 China Family Panel Studies survey. First, the study outlines the data and the applied method with defined variables, on the basis of which an overview on the current stage of grandparental care is presented. It then examines the association of the impact of grandparental care in different dimensions using the general linear model, along with the other influencing factors. Finally, a cross‐age group comparison is employed. The results of the study illustrate the difficulty of examining an overall picture of grandparental childcare, with its negative or positive associations. However, when evaluated using the features of different age groups of children's development, significant associations between grandparental care and child development are mainly found in the 6–11 age group, but the significant associations weaken or disappear in the 12–16 age group. Objective: Clinicians' fears of taking away patients' hope is one of the barriers to advance care planning (ACP). Research on how ACP supports hope is scarce. We have taken up the challenge to specify ways in which ACP conversations may potentially support hope. Methods: In an international qualitative study, we explored ACP experiences of patients with advanced cancer and their personal representatives (PRs) within the cluster‐randomised control ACTION trial. Using deductive analysis of data obtained in interviews following the ACP conversations, this substudy reports on a theme of hope. A latent thematic analysis was performed on segments of text relevant to answer the research question. Results: Twenty patients with advanced cancer and 17 PRs from Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom were participating in post‐ACP interviews. Three themes reflecting elements that provide grounds for hope were constructed. ACP potentially supports hope by being (I) a meaningful activity that embraces uncertainties and difficulties; (II) an action towards an aware and empowered position; (III) an act of mutual care anchored in commitments. Conclusion: Our findings on various potentially hope supporting elements of ACP conversations provide a constructive way of thinking about hope in relation to ACP that could inform practice. Purpose: Missed appointments pose significant challenges to the health care system as they contribute to the inefficient use of resources, increase costs, and result in poor outcomes. The aim of this project was to reduce the rate of missed adult psychotherapy appointments by implementing a Psychiatric‐Mental Health Nurse Practitioner‐initiated telephone orientation protocol (TOP). Design: Quasi‐experimental. Methods: The TOP intervention combined an attendance policy review, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing techniques. Missed appointment rates were compared before and after initiation of the TOP. Findings: The TOP significantly reduced the rates of missed appointments by 55% over 12 weeks. Leadership psychology among college students is a multidimensional concept that primarily encompasses practical ability, teamwork ability, political literacy, emotional intelligence, etc. At present, a common problem among the surveyed college students is their leadership ability is not strong. Reasons include the lack of leadership-related knowledge and leadership awareness among college students as well as the fact that the public, particularly college educators, do not give leadership training a sufficient attention. Leadership psychology is a primary factor influencing the development of college students. It is necessary to strengthen college students' leadership education. This work extracts the key factors that influence the leadership of college students by analyzing their big behavior data. The extracted factors include the theoretical knowledge of leadership, practical ability, leadership psychology, home education, and exercise. To evaluate the degrees of these factors influencing the students' leadership, we develop an advanced multicriteria decision-making framework based on the ENtropy theory and the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), called EN-TOPSIS. In EN-TOPSIS, an entropy method is used to determine the criteria weights rather than using the subjective weighting method. Three groups of college students are surveyed and evaluated based on the five factors. Each group contains ten students. The evaluation results show that the leadership of the students is mainly influenced by their practical ability and leadership psychology. Sports apps are third-party applications for smartphones or wearables that can help users record fitness data and guide their exercise behavior. Many Chinese college students are compelled to use sports apps for running exercises to improve their physical health and cultivate extracurricular exercise habits; however, the acceptance and use of sports apps by college students in mandatory situations requires elucidation. We explored the influencing factors of university students' behavioral intention and usage behavior to use sports apps in mandatory situations by combining the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology and the Self-Determination Theory. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 249 students of Liaoning University of Technology by using non-probabilistic convenient sampling. Data analysis was performed by employing partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results showed that (1) the research model explained 66% (R2 = 0.66) of the variance in behavioral intention and 30% (R2 = 0.30) of the variance in usage behavior; (2) performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and autonomous motivation significantly positively affected behavioral intention, while controlled motivation negatively affected behavioral intention; and (3) behavioral intention, autonomous motivation, and controlled motivation significantly positively affected usage behavior. The influence of facilitating conditions on usage behavior was non-significant. The results will help technical developers and schools to better understand the influencing factors of college students' use of sports apps in mandatory situations, and formulate corresponding improvement strategies and policies to further promote the role sports apps play in college students' exercise behavior. Police are the default first responders in most mental health crisis intervention models worldwide, resulting in a heavy burden on police, perceived criminalization of individuals with complex mental health needs, and escalation of aggression that resort to violence. Models, such as crisis intervention teams (CIT), and co‐response programmes aim to improve service user experiences and outcomes by providing mental health training to police, or pairing law enforcement officers with mental health clinicians, respectively. Despite these efforts, mental health‐related calls continue to result in negative outcomes, and activists and policymakers are advocating for non‐police models of crisis intervention. Evidence‐based practice in mental health crisis intervention is urgently needed. The present review's main objective was to examine, synthesise and compare outcomes across police, co‐responder and non‐police models of mental health crisis intervention internationally using a rapid review framework. A systematic search of four electronic databases of studies published between 2010–2020 and a grey literature search was conducted, yielding (n = 1008) articles. A total of 62 articles were included in the present review. Studies were largely observational, lacking control groups and were of low‐moderate quality with a high potential for bias. Overall, there is little evidence to suggest that the CIT model impacts crisis outcomes. Co‐responder models evidenced improved outcomes compared to police only models, however, evidence was often mixed. Non‐police models varied significantly, and studies tended to be too low quality to make comparisons or draw conclusions, however, research on youth models and crisis resolution home treatment suggested positive outcomes. Findings highlight the need for high‐quality studies and policies to facilitate the implementation and evaluation of novel approaches not involving police. Cross‐sectorial collaboration and service user input are urgently needed to inform, develop, test and disseminate effective models of crisis intervention acceptable to service users. Universal prevention is a practical approach to preventing depressive symptoms in adolescents, but barriers might reduce its effectiveness. This study explored possible barriers to universal prevention of depressive symptoms in Chinese adolescents. We interviewed thirteen adolescents who participated in the program. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. The results revealed three categories of barriers. The first category was participants' maladaptive coping strategies and beliefs about negative emotions. They tended to use avoidance coping, did not believe that negative emotions can be regulated, and had an unrealistic wish for a quick fix. The second category originated from the prevention contents. The complexity of the psychological techniques and the lack of proficiency among the participants were important barriers. The third category was the setting of the psychological course. Participants were reluctant to invest cognitive effort in the psychological course. The large‐size class also made it challenging to have an in‐depth exploration into emotions and thoughts. Our study added to the existing literature by providing more knowledge of barriers to universal prevention. An implicit agreement between people and organizations is known as a psychological contract. It represents what each party anticipates from the other in terms of giving and receiving. The psychological contract theory has forced ideological and political educators to adapt their ideas and develop new teaching strategies. The psychological expectations of the educatees can be fully mobilized and the value orientation of both sides tends to be consistent through the creation of a strong psychological contract between the educators on both sides, which will help to increase the efficacy of ideological and political education. There is theoretical and empirical support for the organizational remedy after a psychological contract breach. Student work is intended to meet the individual needs of students or the needs of society, resulting in two completely distinct values, namely, values based on individuals and values based on societies. Students' work in the new era should be a harmonious blend of personal values and social values. In the study, students' work values fluctuated about 70% of the time, and psychological contracts had a significant impact on those work values. In the past 50 years, the psychological contract theory has seen the development and refinement of its theoretical framework, the clear definition of its content and organizational principles, the behavior research following psychological contract rupture and breach, the establishment and compensation of psychological contracts, and more. During the COVID-19 pandemic, some special populations—groups of early childhood and people with autism, among others—faced more profound challenges than the common people. The lack of real physical contact such as embracing greatly affected the effectiveness of development, psychiatric treatment, and other processes for these populations. This study is aimed at developing clothing with appropriate contact pressure based on the contact comfort principle of psychology and providing a type of pressure clothing that can relieve the wearer's tension by simulating hugging, alleviating the lack of physical contact for early childhood education and special education groups during the pandemic. First, the elementary requirements of clothing design are attained using a questionnaire survey and test method. The analysis revealed that clothing should fulfill the four requirements of pressure comfort, fabric softness, wearing and taking off comfort, and visual beauty. Second, we realized the performance requirements in the fabric and accessories, style design, structure design, and functional design. Finally, the product experience is proposed through a fitting, and the reasonable opinions were fed back to the product design to enhance the functionality of clothing. The research shows that clothing can simulate hugging and can ease the loneliness of the wearer. This study can be used as a good tool to assist during the pandemic for early childhood education and special psychological symptom groups, as well as a broader group of people living alone at home, to play an adjunctive treatment and loneliness relief functions. Objective: Diabetes‐specific psychological flexibility (the ability to engage in valued behaviors, be open to internal experiences, with present‐moment awareness, while living with diabetes) is associated with HbA1c and health‐related quality of life in youth with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Having brief diabetes‐specific psychological flexibility assessments that perform equivalently across diverse individuals is important for research and clinical work addressing health disparities. The present study aimed to create 9‐and 3‐item short forms (DAASito‐9 and ‐3) of the Diabetes Acceptance and Action Scale (DAAS‐22), and evaluate their validity, reliability, and measurement invariance (MI). Research Design and Methods: Youth with T1D (n = 179, Mage = 14.64, 50% female, 56% Black/African American) completed self‐report measures at an endocrinology clinic visit. HbA1c was extracted from medical records. One‐half of the sample was used to develop the DAASitos with the highest reliability, McDonald's 휔 ≥ 0.75, and convergent validity (r ≥ 0.90 to DASS‐22). Confirmatory factor analyses evaluated structural validity. MI was assessed across demographic (race, gender, grade, household income) and disease characteristic (illness duration, HbA1c) groups. Correlations with measures of psychological flexibility assessed additional convergent validity, and latent mean differences across groups were evaluated after confirming MI. Results: MI was supported. The DAASito‐9 and ‐3 were correlated in expected directions with other psychological flexibility measures, HbA1c, and health‐related quality of life. Conclusions: The psychometric properties of the DAASito‐9 and ‐3 support their use in research and clinical care of diverse youth with T1D. Research in the field of digital phenotyping and mobile sensing has seen a tremendous rise in interest over the last few years. The psychological and psychiatric sciences were early adopters of implementing these promising techniques into their research to better understand the human mind. The most often studied data to predict mental states and traits at the moment represent reaction‐time and app usage data from multi‐step human‐smartphone interactions and digital footprints left from the user's interactions with social media platforms. Interestingly, research that links reaction time measurements and other digital footprints to underlying neurobiology data from magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography, or molecular genetics has thus far been mostly lacking. As a starting point for discussion among neuroscientists, in this article, we review the scant literature applying digital phenotyping/mobile sensing to neuroscientific research and outline the potential of this new research approach. Objective: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is one of the most common pediatric chronic illnesses and increasing worldwide in prevalence. Physical activity has been positively linked with better glycemic control in youth with T1D. Although not yet studied, children's social self‐efficacy may be a parameter related to physical activity in youth with diabetes. The current study investigated associations among social self‐efficacy, physical activity, diabetes quality of life, and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) among youth with T1D utilizing mediation and serial mediation models. Research Design and Methods: Participants were 144 youth (M age = 14.95) with T1D (53.5% girls) and their caregivers. Youth completed the PedsQL Diabetes Module, the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Older Children and Adolescents and the Self‐Efficacy Questionnaire for Social Skills for Children. Youths' HbA1c values were also measured. Results: Physical activity significantly mediated the relationship between greater youth social self‐efficacy and better diabetes quality of life. Diabetes quality of life mediated the relationship between greater physical activity and lower HbA1c. The serial mediation model demonstrated greater social self‐efficacy is related to greater physical activity, which in turn is related to better diabetes quality of life and ultimately resulting in lower HbA1c. Conclusions: Physical activity, social self‐efficacy, and diabetes‐related quality of life may be modifiable factors related to HbA1c for youth with T1D. Findings indicate a need for healthcare providers to consider youth physical activity, quality of life, and social self‐efficacy when evaluating and intervening in youth diabetes treatment adherence. Background. In general, given the insufficient sample size, considerable literature has been found on single studies of diabetes and hypertension and few studies have been found on the coexistence of diabetes and hypertension (CDH) and its influencing factors with a large range of samples. This study aimed to establish a structural equation model for exploring the direct and indirect relationships amongst sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle, obesity, and CDH amongst Chinese adults. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted in a representative sample of 25356 adults between June 1, 2015, and September 30, 2018, in Hubei province, China. Confirmatory factor analysis was initially conducted to test the latent variables. A structural equation model was then performed to analyse the association between latent variables and CDH. Results. The total prevalence of CDH was 2.8%. The model paths indicated that sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle, and obesity were directly associated with CDH, and the effects were 0.187, 0.739, and 0.353, respectively. Sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle were also indirectly associated with CDH, and the effects were 0.128 and 0.045, respectively. Lifestyle had the strongest effect on CDH (β = 0.784, P < 0.001), followed by obesity (β = 0.353, P < 0.001) and sociodemographic characteristics (β = 0.315, P < 0.001). All paths of the model were significant (P < 0.001). Conclusion. CDH was significantly associated with sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle, and obesity amongst Chinese adults. The dominant predictor of CDH was lifestyle. Targeting these results might develop lifestyle and weight loss intervention to prevent CDH according to the characteristics of the population. Psychological science aims to make the abstract measurable and quantifiable. As psychologists it is our challenge and charge to capture complex abstractions (e.g., authoritarianism, prejudice, depression) accurately and with transparency. But recent concerns have been raised about the proliferation of constructs across psychology sub‐disciplines, with construct redundancy now rife. Critics charge that we do not take seriously construct validity, especially discriminant validity, which exacerbates the replication crisis. Here the author outlines the problem and discusses at a conceptual level how latent modeling can aptly capture constructs and their interrelations without error, isolating and helping to circumvent construct validity problems. At the core of the issue lies a mathematical reality that seems to be largely ignored in psychology: if correlations within and between indicators of constructs are roughly comparable, their latent factors will correlate near‐perfectly and thus be redundant. Thoughts about how the field arrived at this juncture are discussed, along with a recommendation to avoid using cute labels (e.g., jingle‐jangle fallacies) to represent very serious problems (better labeled as construct redundancy fallacies).
