This paper describes a Ag/AgCl electrochemical electrode for marine electric field measurements, which was prepared by depositing silver chloride on a silver foil substrate using double-pulse electrodeposition. The impact of positive direction peak current density and deposition time on electrode performance in the preparation of Ag/AgCl electrodes through double-pulse electrodeposition was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy and voltammetry have been used to study the properties of the prepared electrodes. This work reveals the correlation between the electrochemical behavior of electrodes and the physical properties of their surfaces, especially specific surface area and porosity. The study verified the characteristics of Ag/AgCl marine electric field electrodes obtained with different pulse parameters by analyzing the potential stability and noise level of the electrode in salt water. The accurate measurement and the investigation of electromagnetic transients are becoming more important, especially with the increasing integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid. These sources introduce new transient phenomena due to the extensive use of power electronics. To achieve this, the measurement devices must have a broadband response capable of measuring fast transients. This paper presents a capacitive electric field sensor-based measurement system to measure transient overvoltages in high-voltage substations. The concept and design of the measurement system are first presented. Then, the design and concept are validated using tests performed in a high-voltage laboratory. Afterwards, two different calibration techniques are discussed: the simplified method (SM) and the coupling capacitance compensation (CCC) method. Finally, three recorded transients are evaluated using the calibration methods. The investigation revealed that the SM tends to overestimate the maximum overvoltage, highlighting the CCC method as a more suitable approach for calibrating transient overvoltage measurements. This measurement system has been validated using various measurements and can be an efficient and flexible solution for the long-term monitoring of transient overvoltages in high-voltage substations. We propose a piezoelectric–piezoresistive coupling electric field sensor capable of performing large dynamic range AC electric field measurements. The electric field sensor utilizes direct coupling between piezoelectric (PE) materials and piezoresistive (PR) strain gauges, in conjunction with an external signal conditioning circuit, to measure AC electric fields effectively. We verified the feasibility of the scheme using a finite element simulation, fabricated a prototype of the electric field sensor, and characterized the properties of the prototype. The testing results indicate that the sensor exhibits an ac resolution of 50 V/m and a linear measurable electric field range of 0 to over 200 kV/m, which keeps the linearity at less than 0.94% from 1 Hz to over 5 kHz. Furthermore, the sensor also has advantages, such as a small size and low power consumption. The sensor can enhance the comprehensive observability and measurability of digital power grids. The spaceborne Electric Field Detector (EFD) is one of the payloads of the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES-01), which can measure electric field data at near-Earth orbit for investigating fundamental scientific topics such as the dynamics of the top-side ionosphere, lithosphere–atmosphere–ionosphere coupling, and electromagnetic field emissions possibly associated with earthquake occurrence. The Extremely Low-Frequency (ELF) waveform shows anomalous step variations, and this work proposes an automatic detection algorithm to identify steps and analyze their characteristics using a convolutional neural network. The experimental results show that the developed detection method is effective, and the identification performance reaches over 90% in terms of both accuracy and area under the curve index. We also analyze the rate of the occurrence of steps in the three components of the electric field. Finally, we discuss the stability of the statistical results on steps and their relevance to the probe's function. The research results provide a guideline for improving the quality of EFD data, and further applications in monitoring the low-Earth electromagnetic environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High-voltage electric field measurement technology has certain applications in electric field measurement of power systems, but due to the limitation of its measurement accuracy and bandwidth, it cannot be used for the measurement of lightning-impulse voltage. In order to calibrate the nonlinearity of the MV-level lightning-impulse voltage measurement system, this paper proposes the design and implementation of a high-precision inductive wideband electric field measuring sensor (EFMS). The influence of the metal shell on the electric field distribution was simulated, and the influence of the electric field non-uniformity coefficient was studied. The characteristics of the EFMS were tested, and the results showed that the EFMS can accurately reproduce the waveform of lightning-impulse voltage and power-frequency voltage, with a proportionality coefficient of 0.05664 V/(kV/m). In mostly uniform and extremely non-uniform fields, the nonlinearity of the EFMS for impulse voltage is less than ±0.25%, and the nonlinearity of the EFMS for power-frequency voltage is less than 0.1%. We report ground-based measurements of the atmospheric electric field (Ez = −potential gradient (PG)) and current density (Jz) that were conducted at two locations in Israel. One is at the Emilio Segre cosmic ray station located on Mt. Hermon (34.45° N, 2020 m AMSL) in northern Israel near the Syrian-Lebanon border, and the other is at the Wise astronomical observatory in the Negev desert highland plateau of southern Israel (31.18° N, 870 m AMSL). We searched for possible effects of strong, short-term solar events on the potential gradient and the vertical current density, as disruptions to the global electric circuit are often observed following strong solar events. The first case study (St. Patrick's Day, 17 March 2015) was classified as the strongest event of 2015. The second case study (8 September 2017) was categorized as the strongest event of 2017 and one of the twenty strongest events on record to date. The results show that the electrical parameters measured at ground level at both stations were not affected during the two massive proton events and the ensuing geomagnetic storms. The magnetospheric shielding in lower latitudes is strong enough to shield against the flux of energetic particles from solar events, obscuring any impact that may be noticeable above the local daily variations induced by local meteorological conditions (aerosol concentrations, clouds, high humidity, and wind speed), which were investigated as well. Aiming at the problems of complex equations, low accuracy, and the strict measurement point layout requirements of the existing electric field integration method, a non-contact measurement method based on the inversion voltage of the near electric field is proposed. Firstly, the field source relationship is clarified, the connection between the spatial electric field and the voltage is derived, and a near-end electric field inversion method is proposed. Secondly, a three-dimensional simulation model of an overhead line is established using COMSOL finite element software, the three-dimensional spatial potential distribution of the overhead line is obtained, and the voltage is inverted and calculated. Finally, an overhead line simulation test platform was built, and MEMS electric field sensors were used for testing and verification. The results show that the maximum error of the three-phase voltage inversion of the proximal electric field measurement is 6.8%, and the error between the voltage obtained by the experimental inversion measurement and the reference voltage is less than 7.2%. The simulation and experimental results also verify the accuracy and feasibility of the inversion voltage of the proximal electric field. The results of this paper can lay a foundation for the practical application of small and miniaturized electric field sensors, and help in the construction and development of smart grids. In recent decades, the background level of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) has increased extremely. One of the decisive factors influencing this increase is the increase in the quality, volume, and speed of voice and data services of mobile operators. This paper deals with the protection of the internal environment from the negative effects of EMFs through elements made of metal materials that absorb this radiation. For the purposes of this research, a series of measurements were carried out on individual days of the week and hours during the day. The results of the measurements were evaluated by the ANOVA method. The aim was to obtain a summary overview of the effects of electromagnetic fields and propose measures for their elimination in the interior. Therefore, measurements of electromagnetic fields were also carried out using shielding elements made of various metal materials, and a comparison of their shielding efficiency was subsequently made. Applications of shading blinds with the highest shading efficiency were recommended to increase safety, protect people's health from its effects, and prevent electromagnetic fields. It is crucial to monitor the levels of Non-Ionizing Radiation (NIR) to which the general population may be exposed and compare them to the limits defined in the current standards, in view of the rapid rise of communication services and the prospects of a connected society. A high number of people visits shopping malls and since these locations usually have several indoor antennas close to the public, it is therefore a kind of place that must be evaluated. Thus, this work presents measurements of the electric field in a shopping mall located in Natal, Brazil. We proposed a set of six measurement points, following two criteria: places with great the flow of people and the presence of one or more Distributed Antenna System (DAS), co-sited or not with WiFi access points. Results are presented and discussed in terms of the distance to DAS (conditions: near and far) and flow density of people in the mall (scenarios: low and high number of people). The highest peaks of electric field measured were 1.96 and 3.26 V/m, respectively corresponding to 5% and 8% of the limits defined by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and the Brazilian National Telecommunication Agency (ANATEL). Electroporation is a biophysical phenomenon involving an increase in cell membrane permeability to molecules after a high-pulsed electric field is applied to the tissue. Currently, electroporation is being developed for non-thermal ablation of cardiac tissue to treat arrhythmias. Cardiomyocytes have been shown to be more affected by electroporation when oriented with their long axis parallel to the applied electric field. However, recent studies demonstrate that the preferentially affected orientation depends on the pulse parameters. To gain better insight into the influence of cell orientation on electroporation with different pulse parameters, we developed a time-dependent nonlinear numerical model where we calculated the induced transmembrane voltage and pores creation in the membrane due to electroporation. The numerical results show that the onset of electroporation is observed at lower electric field strengths for cells oriented parallel to the electric field for pulse durations ≥10 µs, and cells oriented perpendicular for pulse durations ~100 ns. For pulses of ~1 µs duration, electroporation is not very sensitive to cell orientation. Interestingly, as the electric field strength increases beyond the onset of electroporation, perpendicular cells become more affected irrespective of pulse duration. The results obtained using the developed time-dependent nonlinear model are corroborated by in vitro experimental measurements. We present the results of a systematic study of the ionospheric electric field in the Auroral Oval (AO) region in the southern hemisphere. We exploit one year of electric field measurements taken by the Electric Field Detector (EFD) on board the Chinese Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite-01 (CSES-01), flying at around 500 km altitude in a sun-synchronous orbit. We exploit the high temporal resolution of the EFD to devise a new technique for the detection of CSES-01 crossing of the AO using electric field measurements only. This new technique combines a Median-Weighted Local Variance Measure with Fast Iterative Filtering to automatically isolate high levels of electromagnetic activity caused by, e.g., particle precipitation and Field Aligned Currents (FACs) at auroral latitudes. We validate this new method against other standard proxies, such as the single-FAC product from the Swarm mission and the auroral radiance emission measured by the Special Sensor Ultraviolet Spectrographic Imager (SSUSI) units on board the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) constellation. Furthermore, we identify ∼3000 orbits (out of a dataset of ∼10,000) where CSES-01 crosses the AO boundary under conditions of high geomagnetic activity. This dataset represents the first step in the systematic study of the auroral electric field, with many potential applications to space weather, thanks to the large amount of continuous observations of the ionosphere by CSES-01 and the forthcoming CSES-02 mission. Ground-based measurements of the atmospheric electric field have been recorded continuously since 2013 at the Wise Observatory, located in the Negev Desert Highland in southern Israel. The data have been used for defining the characteristics of fair weather and to identify the signatures of dust storms, lightning activity, and clouds. We report here on new results from observations of the variability of the electric field (transformed into the potential gradient, PG) during several foggy days, along with meteorological data on wind speed and relative humidity. The results show a substantial increase in the electric field (up to 400–650 V m−1) compared with the mean fair weather values observed at the site (180–190 V m−1). This increase is especially clear during times of high relative humidity values (95%+) and low wind speed (<3 m s−1). This increase is likely a consequence of the reduction in the atmospheric conductivity at low levels, due to the attachment of charge carriers to fog droplets. Based on this discovery, it is suggested that continuously monitoring the electric field may offer an additional operational tool to alert for the onset and termination of fog at specific locations, such as airports and harbors, where this nowcasting capability is required. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are widely used in industrial applications. However, many of them have limited lifetimes, which has been a considerable constraint on their widespread use. As a typical application of WSNs, distributed measurement of the electric field under high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission lines also suffers from this issue. This paper first introduces the composition of the electric-field measurement system (EFMS) and its working principle. Considering the actual power supply of the system, this paper mainly introduces the composition of the wireless sensor node (WSND) and analyzes the power consumption and potential working state transformation of the WSND, together with a comprehensive study on parameters affecting the power consumption of the wireless communication unit. Moreover, an energy-efficient scheduling approach is proposed after specially designing a working sequence and the study on system parameters. The proposed approach is verified by experiments on not only the experimental line of the national HVDC test base, but also a commercial operation HVDC transmission line with the challenge of long endurance, which is considered in this paper with a new strategy. Due to the long distance propagation characteristics of the HF spectrum, noise and interference are significant and challenging factors that have to be addressed in the context of HF system performance. Both aspects exhibit systematic diurnal, seasonal, and solar cycle variability that result in a number of corresponding measurement campaigns all over the globe, in an effort to characterise HF noise. Noise at HF consists of man-made and naturally occurring HF noise with atmospheric and galactic components. An understanding of HF noise variation in terms of time, azimuth, and filter bandwidth is crucial for a specific location, as it can provide a background knowledge based on which appropriate values of HF system parameters may be selected. Traditional contact voltage measurement requires a direct electrical connection to the system, which is not easy to install and maintain. The voltage measurement based on the electric field coupling plate capacitance structure does not need to be in contact with the measured object or the ground, which can avoid the above problems. However, most of the existing flat-plate structure voltage measurement sensors are not only expensive to manufacture, but also bulky, and when the relative position between the wire under test and the sensor changes, it will bring great measurement errors, making it difficult to meet actual needs. Aiming to address the above problems, this paper proposes a multi-electrode array structure non-contact voltage sensor and signal processing algorithm. The sensor is manufactured by the PCB process, which effectively reduces the manufacturing cost and process difficulty. The experimental and simulation results show that, when the relative position of the wire and the sensor is offset by 10 mm in the 45° direction, the relative error of the traditional single-electrode voltage sensor is 17.62%, while the relative error of the multi-electrode voltage sensor designed in this paper is only 0.38%. In addition, the ratio error of the sensor under the condition of power frequency of 50 Hz is less than ±1% and the phase difference is less than 4°. An overview of the electric field mill sensor specifications in applications related to the measurement of the atmospheric electric field was conducted. The different design approaches of the field mill sensor interface are presented and analyzed, while the sensitivity-related parameters of a field mill are discussed. The design of a non-complex analog sensor interface that can be employed for the measurement of the electric field in both fair and foul weather conditions, such as thunderstorms, is implemented using discrete components for experimental validation and is optimized in an integrated version in terms of noise and power consumption. Advanced noise simulations are conducted in a 180 nm CMOS process (XH018 XFAB). The energy-autonomous operation of the sensor for extended periods of time is made feasible due to the low power consumption of the front-end circuitry (165 μW at 3 V) as well as the proposed intermittent style of operation of the motor. The total sensing system is low power, and its realization is simple and cost-effective, while also offering adequate sensitivity (45 mV/kV/m), making it comparable to the existing works. Sag is an important indicator of the operational health of a transmission line, and its timely measurement is of great significance to maintain the stability and reliability of power systems. However, traditional contact measurements may be affected by the electromagnetic interference of conductors. In contrast, measurement methods without direct electrical contact with the subject provide greater portability and flexibility. This paper presents a study of a transmission line sag measurement and simulation based on non-contact electric field sensing. The finite element method was used to analyze the conductor distribution, establish the coupling relationships among the electric field, transmission line, and measurement point, propose a sag inverse calculation model, and assess the impact of the transmission line parameter on the curved drooping measurement. Simultaneously, sag measurement schemes for single-round and dual-circuit lines were designed for multi-conductive lines, and measurement array studies were conducted. The vertical component of the electric field in space measured by the array was obtained, which could be used to perform conductor sag measurement simply and efficiently. Measuring the atmospheric electric field is of crucial importance for studying the discharge phenomena of thunderstorm clouds. If one is used to indicate the occurrence of a lightning event and zero to indicate the non-occurrence of the event, then a binary classification problem needs to be solved. Based on the established database of weather samples, we designed a lightning prediction system using deep learning techniques. First, the features of time-series data from multiple electric field measurement sites are extracted by a sparse auto encoder (SAE) to construct a visual picture, and a binary prediction of whether lightning occurs at a specific time interval is obtained based on the improved ResNet50. Then, the central location of lightning flashes is located based on the extracted features using a multilayer perceptron (MLP) model. The performance of the method yields satisfactory results with 88.2% accuracy, 92.2% precision rate, 81.5% recall rate, and 86.4% F1-score for weather samples, which is a significant improvement over traditional methods. Multiple spatial localization results for several minutes before and after can be used to know the specific area where lightning is likely to occur. All the above methods passed the reliability and robustness tests, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the model in lightning short-time proximity warning. An extensive research field in regenerative medicine is electrical stimulation (ES) and its impact on tissue and cells. The mechanism of action of ES, particularly the role of electrical parameters like intensity, frequency, and duration of the electric field, is not yet fully understood. Human MG-63 osteoblasts were electrically stimulated for 10 min with a commercially available multi-channel system (IonOptix). We generated alternating current (AC) electrical fields with a voltage of 1 or 5 V and frequencies of 7.9 or 20 Hz, respectively. To exclude liquid-mediated effects, we characterized the AC-stimulated culture medium. AC stimulation did not change the medium's pH, temperature, and oxygen content. The H2O2 level was comparable with the unstimulated samples except at 5 V_7.9 Hz, where a significant increase in H2O2 was found within the first 30 min. Pulsed electrical stimulation was beneficial for the process of attachment and initial adhesion of suspended osteoblasts. At the same time, the intracellular Ca2+ level was enhanced and highest for 20 Hz stimulated cells with 1 and 5 V, respectively. In addition, increased Ca2+ mobilization after an additional trigger (ATP) was detected at these parameters. Ground-based measurements of the electric field from a station located in the arid Negev region of southern Israel have been conducted continuously since 2013. We present here results of observations of the electric field (Potential Gradient, PG) variability during 22 cloudy days, with varying cloud types and cloud base heights, and compare the measured values with the mean fair-weather PG. The results show an increase of PG (~+10 to +70 V m−1) from mean fair weather values during times of low clouds. During times of mid-altitude (alto) clouds or during a superposition of low and high clouds, there were small departures in the PG values (~0 to −30 V m−1) compared to mean fair weather PG values. During times of high-altitude cirrus clouds there is a clear decrease of the PG (~−40 to −90 V m−1). The data was compared with the Israeli meteorological service cloud data and with MODIS 7 satellite cloud top height maps. Effective denoising can ensure fast and accurate target detection. This paper presents an electric field measurement system based on a high-speed motion platform, which was built to analyze the characteristics of low frequency electric field noise. An offshore test has shown that it is possible to detect a low-frequency electric field using a high-speed motion platform. Low frequency electric field noise was then collected to analyze its characteristics in terms of time and frequency domains. Based on the noise characteristics, complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (ICEEMDAN) was improved and combined with an adaptive threshold algorithm for denoising and reconstructing target containing noise signals. As revealed in the results, the proposed algorithm achieved highly effective denoising to overcome the line spectrum detection failure resulting from a high-speed motion platform. The recent Chinese Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES-01) provides a good opportunity to investigate some features of plasma properties and its motion in the topside ionosphere. Using simultaneous measurements from the electric field detector and the magnetometers onboard CSES-01, we investigate some properties of the plasma E × B drift velocity for a case study during a crossing of the Southern auroral region in the topside ionosphere. In detail, we analyze the spectral and scaling features of the plasma drift velocity and provide evidence of the turbulent character of the E × B drift. Our results provide an evidence of the occurrence of 2D E × B intermittent convective turbulence for the plasma motion in the topside ionospheric F2 auroral region at scales from tens of meters to tens of kilometers. The intermittent character of the observed turbulence suggests that the macro-scale intermittent structure is isomorphic with a quasi-1D fractal structure, as happens, for example, in the case of a filamentary or thin-tube-like structure. Furthermore, in the analyzed range of scales we found that both magnetohydrodynamic and kinetic processes may affect the plasma dynamics at spatial scales below 2 km. In recent decades, there has been a decline of the House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), mainly in European cities, and several hypotheses have been proposed that attempt to determine the causes of this rapid decline. Previous studies indicated that house sparrows were significantly negatively associated with increasing electromagnetic radiation and sparrows disappeared from areas most polluted. In addition, there are many studies on the impact of radiation on other bird and non-bird species, as well as numerous laboratory studies that demonstrated detrimental effects at electric field strength levels that can be found in cities today. Electromagnetic radiation is the most plausible factor for multiple reasons, including that this is the only one that affects the other hypotheses proposed so far. It is a type of pollution that affects productivity, fertility, decreases insects (chicken feed), causes loss of habitat, decreases immunity and can promote disease. Additionally, the recent sparrow decline matches the deployment of mobile telephony networks. Further, there are known mechanisms of action for non-thermal effects of electromagnetic radiation that may affect sparrows causing their decline. In the last decades, important advances in lightning detection, lightning climatology, and the most fundamental physical and chemical mechanisms related to lightning have contributed to setting the role of lightning in the Earth's climate system. Thunderstorms with normal charge structures produce more negative than positive cloud-to-ground lightning, while positive cloud-to-ground lightning is more frequent in inverted polarity thunderstorms. However, there are still significant open research questions related to atmospheric electricity, such as the role of meteorology in the occurrence of lightning, the role of lightning in the ignition of wildfires, and how to improve lightning detection systems to monitor lightning discharges better. The smart engineering of novel semiconductor devices relies on the development of optimized functional materials suitable for the design of improved systems with advanced capabilities aside from better efficiencies. Thereby, the characterization of these materials at the highest level attainable is crucial for leading a proper understanding of their working principle. Due to the striking effect of atomic features on the behavior of semiconductor quantum- and nanostructures, scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) tools have been broadly employed for their characterization. Indeed, STEM provides a manifold characterization tool achieving insights on, not only the atomic structure and chemical composition of the analyzed materials, but also probing internal electric fields, plasmonic oscillations, light emission, band gap determination, electric field measurements, and many other properties. The emergence of new detectors and novel instrumental designs allowing the simultaneous collection of several signals render the perfect playground for the development of highly customized experiments specifically designed for the required analyses. This paper presents some of the most useful STEM techniques and several strategies and methodologies applied to address the specific analysis on semiconductors. STEM imaging, spectroscopies, 4D-STEM (in particular DPC), and in situ STEM are summarized, showing their potential use for the characterization of semiconductor nanostructured materials through recent reported studies. In this review, the research conducted by the authors on anodic oxide films on aluminum is described, paying particular attention to how the electric field strength, as a factor other than voltage, controls the nanostructures and properties of the films. It will also be indicated what factors contribute to the formation of defects, which, in contrast to the ideal or model film structure, contains a significant number of defects in the film. In addition to electrochemical measurements, the films were examined with a variety of advanced instruments, including electron microscopes, to confirm the "reality of film nanostructure" from a slightly different angle than the conventional view. The following topics on anodic films formed in four types of major anodizing electrolytes are discussed: pore initiation process, steady-state porous structure, sealing mechanism, the relationship between cell parameters and voltage/electric field strength, amount and depth of anion incorporation, electrolyte types, radial branching of pores, atypical pore structures, defect formation mechanism, self-ordering, Al coordination number, and the creation of α-alumina membranes. The AMPERA (Atmospheric Measurement of Potential and ElectRic field on Aircraft) electric field network was integrated on the Falcon 20 (F20) of SAFIRE (the French facility for airborne research) in the framework of EXAEDRE (EXploiting new Atmospheric Electricity Data for Research and the Environment) project. From September 2018, an in-flight campaign was performed over Corsica (France) to investigate the electrical activity in thunderstorms. During this campaign, eight scientific flights were done inside or in the vicinity of a thunderstorm. The purpose of this paper is to present the AMPERA system and the atmospheric electrostatic field recorded during the flights, and particularly during the pass inside electrified clouds, in which the aircraft was struck by lightning. The highest value of atmospheric electrostatic field recorded during these flights was around 79 kV·m−1 at 8400 m of altitude. A normalization of these fields is done by computing the reduced atmospheric electrostatic field to take into account the altitude effect (ratio between the atmospheric electrostatic field and the air density). Most of the significant values of reduced atmospheric electrostatic field magnitude retrieved during this campaign occur between around 5.5 and 9.5 km and are included between 50 and 100 kV·m−1. The highest value measured of the reduced atmospheric electrostatic field is 194 kV·m−1 during the lightning strike of the F20. The merging of these results with data from former campaigns suggests that there is a threshold (depending of the aircraft size) for the striking of an aircraft. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

P(VdF-HFP) films are fabricated via a solution casting doctor blade method using high (HVS) and low (LVS) volatile solvents, respectively. The structural properties and the ferroelectric behavior are investigated. The surface structure and crystal phase composition are found to be strongly dependent on the type of solvent. LVS leads to a rougher copolymer surface structure with large spherulites and a lower crystallinity in contrast with HVS. The crystalline phase of copolymer films fabricated with HVS consists almost exclusively of α-phase domains, whereas films from LVS solution show a large proportion of γ-phase domains, as concluded from Raman and X-ray diffraction spectra. Virgin films show no ferroelectric (FE) switching polarization at electric field amplitudes below 180 MV/m, independent of the solvent type, observed in bipolar dielectric displacement—electric field measurements. After applying electric fields of above 180 MV/m, a FE behavior emerges, which is significantly stronger for LVS films. In a repeated measurement, FE polarization switching already occurs at lower fields. A shielding effect may be related to this observation. Additionally, Raman bands of polar γ-phase increase by high-electric-field cycling for the LVS sample. The solvent used and the resulting crystal phase composition of the virgin sample is crucial for the copolymer behavior during bipolar electrical cycling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
