Alpha-synuclein (α-syn) is closely related to the pathological process of Parkinson's disease (PD). Sensitive detection of α-syn is important for the early diagnosis and disease progression monitoring of PD. Herein, we report a binding-triggered hybridization chain reaction (HCR) cascade multi-site activated CRISPR/Cas12a signal amplification strategy for sensitive detection of α-syn. In this method, antibody–DNA capture probes recognized α-syn and bound with it to increase the local effective concentrations of two DNA strands, promoting their hybridization to form a split HCR trigger. Then the trigger initiated an HCR to generate a long double-stranded structure which contained abundant periodically repeated Cas12a/crRNA target sequences. Finally, the Cas12a/crRNA recognized the target sequence in HCR products and then the cleavage activity toward fluorescent reporters was activated, leading to the recovery of appreciable fluorescence signals. Our method provided a detection limit as low as 9.33 pM and exhibited satisfactory applicability in human serum samples. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a class of hydrolase that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of phosphorylated species in biological tissues, playing an important role in many physiological and pathological processes. Sensitive imaging of ALP activity in living cells is contributory to the research on these processes. Herein, we propose an acid-responsive DNA hydrogel to deliver a cascaded enzymatic nucleic acid amplification system into cells for the sensitive imaging of intracellular ALP activity. The DNA hydrogel is formed by two kinds of Y-shaped DNA monomers and acid-responsive cytosine-rich linkers. The amplification system contained Bst DNA polymerase (Bst DP), Nt.BbvCI endonuclease, a Recognition Probe (RP, containing a DNAzyme sequence, a Nt.BbvCI recognition sequence, and a phosphate group at the 3′-end), and a Signal Probe (SP, containing a cleavage site for DNAzyme, Cy3 and BHQ2 at the two ends). The amplification system was trapped into the DNA hydrogel and taken up by cells, and the cytosine-rich linkers folded into a quadruplex i-motif in the acidic lysosomes, leading to the collapse of the hydrogel and releasing the amplification system. The phosphate groups on RPs were recognized and removed by the target ALP, triggering a polymerization-nicking cycle to produce large numbers of DNAzyme sequences, which then cleaved multiple SPs, restoring Cy3 fluorescence to indicate the ALP activity. This strategy achieved sensitive imaging of ALP in living HeLa, MCF-7, and NCM460 cells, and realized the sensitive detection of ALP in vitro with a detection limit of 2.0 × 10−5 U mL−1, providing a potential tool for the research of ALP-related physiological and pathological processes. A cage-like MOF has demonstrated tremendous potential in gas selective adsorption and CO2 catalysis due to its distinctive structural features. Accordingly, a novel cage-like MOF 1 was synthesized using the biphenyl tricarboxylic acid ligand, (1,1′-biphenyl)-2,4,6-tricarboxylic acid (H3L), and Zn(II) via a solvothermal reaction. 1 exhibited a porous three-dimensional framework formed by interconnected dodecahedron (5.2 Å) and octahedron (4.7 Å) cages, which was based on an interesting 13-connected fcu topology. Significantly, 1a has excellent adsorption properties for C2H2 and CO2 and selective separation performance for C2H2/CO2, C2H2/CH4, and CO2/CH4. The incremental use of herbicides is now posing a pollution problem in aquatic systems. Therefore, it is necessary to decompose this class of harmful components existing in wastewater. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are a peculiar class of multidimensional materials that can be employed as a photocatalyst to decompose pesticides present in the wastewater discharged. For this we have synthesized three high-stability Co(II)-based metal organic frameworks (MOFs) [Co(H2L)(bb)·DMF]n (1), [Co(L)0.5(bb)]n (2), and [NH2(CH3)2][Co2(μ3-OH)(L)(bb)] (3), where H4L = 5,5′-(1,2-phenylenebis(methyleneoxy)diisophthalic acid and bb = 4,4′-bis(imidazolyl)biphenyl. These MOFs are characterized by thermal analyses and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. 1 features a new 3D, 2-nodal 4,4-connected network with a Schläfli symbol of (44·62). 2 displays a 3D, 4,4-c network, with a Schläfli symbol (64·82). 3 shows a 3D two nodal (3,8) connected net with a Schläfli symbol (43)2(46·618·84). 1–3 are semiconducting in nature with Eg of 3.31 eV, 2.95 eV, and 3.25 eV, respectively. These three MOFs show high catalytic activities for the degradation of different pesticides, including four common pesticides thiabendazole (TBZ), dinotefuran (DTF), metamitron (MMT), and ciprofloxacin (CIP) in an aqueous solution. TBZ shows photocatalytic degradation by the synthesized MOF, which demonstrated 89% degradation. Moreover, the possible photodegradation mechanism was proposed and explored by a radical tapping experiment. Reliable, fast and switchable gluing modes are critically important in medical adhesives and intelligent climbing robot applications. The octopus-bionic patch has attracted the attention of many scholars. The suction cup structure of the octopus achieves adhesion through differential pressure, showing strong adhesion in both dry and wet environments. However, the construction of the octopus-bionic patch remains limited in terms of adaptability, personalization and mass production. Herein, a composite hydrogel consisting of gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA), polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) and acrylamide (AAM) was developed, and a structure mimicking the octopus sucker was constructed by digital light processing (DLP). The obtained octopus-bionic patch has strong adhesion, good biocompatibility and multi-functionality. Compared with the template method in most studies, the octopus-bionic patch constructed by the DLP printing method has the advantages of customizability and low cost. Five new lanthanide metal–organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs), namely {[Ln(L)]·Cl}n, [Ln = Pr(1), Nd(2), Eu(3), Ho(4), Ce(5)], based on a benzimidazole carboxylic acid ligand [H2L = 2-(2-carboxyphenyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole-6-carboxylic acid] were synthesized by a solvothermal method. Ln-MOFs 1–5 have the same two-dimensional layered structures. Interestingly, 1–5 exhibit excellent adsorption performance to anionic dye Congo red (CR), with adsorption capacities of 2724 mg g−1, 2719 mg g−1, 2718 mg g−1, 327 mg g−1, and 2273 mg g−1, respectively. Adsorption kinetics experiments showed that this kind of adsorption belonged to chemisorption; the hydrogen bonding and π–π interactions between the 1–5 host and CR guest molecules resulted in a high adsorption capacity. Luminescence and sensing experiments showed that 5 can be considered a promising multifunctional fluorescent sensor with good reusability and a high sensitivity toward Ag+ and Hg2+ ions, with detection limits of 1.7 × 10−7 and 2.5 × 10−6 M, respectively. Core–shell structured SiO2@C nanospheres with different sizes were fabricated using a method of "template synthesis – organic coating – carbonizing". After etching away the SiO2 cores, hollow carbon (void@C) nanospheres were obtained. The microwave absorption properties of the different structured nanospheres were compared, and the size effect of the nanospheres was further discussed. The SiO2@C/paraffin composites with a filling ratio of 30 wt% achieved a broad effective absorption (reflection loss ≤−10 dB) of 7.4 GHz at a thickness of 3.2 mm, covering the whole X and Ku bands, and the minimum reflection loss reaches −41.7 dB at 17.6 GHz at a thickness of 2.6 mm. The void@C/paraffin composites achieved an effective absorption broadband of 7.1 GHz and a minimum reflection loss of −21.9 dB at a thickness of 2.2 mm and a low filling ratio of 2 wt%, meeting the requirements for industrial lighting applications. Moreover, for both structures, the nanospheres with larger diameters exhibited stronger absorption performance. The excellent EMW absorption performances of the core–shell SiO2@C/paraffin and void@C/paraffin composites are mainly due to polarization loss and electrical conductivity loss, respectively, depending on the mobility of the electrons in the materials. We report the synthesis of hydroxyl-radical (˙OH) responsive fluorescent probes that utilise the 3,5-dihydroxybenzyl (DHB) functionality. 4-Methylumbeliferone-DHB (Umb-DHB) and resorufin-DHB (Res-DHB) in the presence of ˙OH radicals resulted in significant increases in their respective fluorescent emission intensities at 460 nm and 585 nm. The incubation of Res-DHB in HeLa cells followed by therapeutic ultrasound (1 MHz) resulted in a significant increase in fluorescence emission intensity thus permitting the ability to monitor ultrasound-induced ˙OH production in live cells. The adsorption of anions and its impact on electrocatalytic reactions are fundamental topics in electrocatalysis. Previous studies revealed that adsorbed anions display an overall poisoning effect in most cases. However, for a few reactions such as the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxidation of small organic molecules (SOMs), and reduction of CO2 and O2, some specifically adsorbed anions can promote their reaction kinetics under certain conditions. The promotion effect is frequently attributed to the adsorbate induced modification of the nature of the active sites, the change of the adsorption configuration and free energy of the key reactive intermediate which consequently change the activation energy, the pre-exponential factor of the rate determining step etc. In this paper, we will give a mini review of the indispensable role of the classical double layer effect in enhancing the kinetics of electrocatalytic reactions by anion adsorption. The ubiquitous electrostatic interactions change both the potential distribution and the concentration distribution of ionic species across the electric double layer (EDL), which alters the electrochemical driving force and effective concentration of the reactants. A convenient and efficient copper-catalyzed oxidative arylation of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with 3-aminoindazoles is developed for the synthesis of cyanoarylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones. Notably, 3-aminoindazoles are employed as efficient arylating agents via the cleavage of two C–N bonds. This oxidative arylation of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones involves a radical process and undergoes a sequence of 3-aminoindazole oxidation, two C–N bond cleavage, and cyanoaryl radical addition. Although hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) have received particular attention in the field of proton conduction owing to their richly H-bonded networks and porous structures, there are few related reports, especially on the study of the related proton exchange membranes (PEMs). In this paper, a multi-pyridine and multi-carboxylate-based HOF (H3tpt = 4-(2,4,6-tricarboxyphenyl)-2,2′,6′,2′′-terpyridine, namely HOF 1) was successfully prepared and introduced in a chitosan (CS) matrix to fabricate proton-conductive composite membranes. Firstly, the excellent thermal-, water-, and acid-stability of HOF 1 were confirmed via various measurements. Secondly, an AC impedance test demonstrated its temperature- and humidity-dependent proton-conductive properties. Based on the above preliminary research, we tried to dope it into CS to prepare a composite membrane (denoted as CS/HOF-x , where x is the doping amount of 1 in the hybrid film). Fortunately, one composite membrane (CS/HOF-4) with ultra-high proton conductivity (σ) (2.61 × 10−2 S cm−1 under 100 °C and 98% RH) was fabricated using the casting method; its best σ value is 54 and 2 times greater than that of HOF 1 (4.83 × 10−4 S cm−1) and the pure CS membrane, respectively, and is comparable to that of Nafion under similar conditions. Further, the proton conduction mechanism of the HOF 1 composite membrane was proposed. This research represents the first time that HOF has been doped into CS to make a high-efficiency proton-conducting composite membrane, which will lay a good foundation for its application in fuel cells and other related fields. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), a sub-class of well-known coordination polymers, are assorted multidimensional materials that can be employed as photocatalysts for the decomposition of aromatic dyes present in wastewater discharge. Herein, two new Cd(II) MOFs [Cd7(L)4(μ2-OH)2(H2O)4(bbi)3] (1) and [Cd3(L)2(bbm)2] (2) (H3L = 3-(4-carboxyphenoxy)-5-methylbenzoic acid, bbi = 1,4-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)butane and bmp = 1,3-bis(2-methylimidazolyl)pentane) have been synthesized and characterized. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 possesses a 3D (3,16)-connected pillar-bilayer network with a {32·4}2{38·450·534·624·74} topology and comprises [Cd7(COO)14] SBUs. Meanwhile, 2 exhibits a 2D (3,8)-connected framework with a {3·42}2{34·46·56·68·73·8} topology comprising [Cd3(COO)6] SBUs. Both MOFs have been used as photocatalysts for the photodegradation of aromatic dyes, and experiments demonstrate that 1 and 2 exhibit 95.5% and 86.2% photodegradation of methyl violet (MV), respectively, in a time span of 100 min. Moreover, both MOFs offer better photodegradation of MV than other model dyes such as rhodamine B, methyl blue and methyl orange. Additionally, the effects of catalyst amount and dye concentration on dye degradation have been explored. Further, trapping experiments indicate that ˙OH and ˙O2− are the active species responsible for the degradation of MV in the presence of 1. Both MOFs could be recycled and used repeatedly as photocatalysts for the degradation of MV, which showcases their highly stable nature. High-performance dielectric capacitors are in high demand for advanced electronics and electric power systems. However, their relatively low operating temperature limits their widespread applications. Here, guided by phase-field simulations, a capacitor is reported to operate at a record high operating temperature of 400 °C with an energy storage density of 55.4 joules per cubic centimeter, energy efficiency of over 82%, and superior thermal stability and fatigue properties. These ultrahigh-temperature performances are achieved through a relatively simple method of introduction and engineering of homogeneous/heterogeneous interfaces within capacitors, which greatly improve their high-temperature stability, relaxation behavior, and breakdown strength. In our work, we not only successfully fabricate capacitors with potential applications in high-temperature electric power systems and electronic technologies but also open up a promising and general route for designing high-performance electrostatic capacitors through homogeneous/heterogeneous interfaces. The photoreactions of a luminescent osmium(VI) nitrido complex, [OsVI(N)(L)(CN)3]− (OsN, HL = 2-(2-hydroxy-5-nitrophenyl)benzoxazole), with catechol (H2Cat) and hydroquinone (H2Q) lead to the cleavage of strong C–OH bonds (ca. 120 kcal mol−1) of the dihydroxybenzenes with concomitant conversion of the coordinated cyanide to carbon monoxide. Two new copper(I) iodide-based hybrids, i.e. (Py3P–O–PPy3)(Cu2I4) (1) and (Py3P–O–PPy3)(Cu4I6) (2) (Py = pyrrolidine), have been prepared, in which the tripodal diphosphonium (Py3P–O–PPy3)2+ is in situ generated in the one-pot synthesis. The disordered (Cu4I6)2− tetramers are rare with two sets of tetracuprate centers. Interestingly, 1 exhibits sensitive luminescence mechanochromism, which is ascribed to the disturbed cuprophilic Cu⋯Cu interactions and the crystalline packing adjustment by destroying C–H⋯I hydrogen bonds during mechanical force. In particular, the luminescence thermochromism is unique, whose fluorescence intensity is strengthened with the elevated temperature. This could be due to the S2–S1 internal conversion on the linear P–O–P backbone, which will be bent upon heating. Simultaneous luminescence thermo/mechanochromism can also be monitored in 1. However, no luminescence thermo/mechanochromic performances can be detected in 2, so the luminescence thermo/mechanochromism of 1 could be quenched with DMF. A novel strategy of bisphosphorylation of anhydrides with P(O)–H reagents via a DMAP-catalyzed and DBU-promoted process has been developed. These one-step transformations proceed efficiently to provide convenient access to a variety of P–O–C–P motif containing organophosphorus compounds. The concentration and distribution of oxygen vacancies in oxide materials not only lead to emergent phenomena, such as the enormous electrical resistance variation in perovskite nickelates, but also dominate the performance of related resistive random access memories. Therefore, it is very important to control oxygen vacancies in oxide materials at widely different levels of concentration. Here we report a strategy to realize oxygen vacancy doping via constructing a LaNiO3/SmNiO3 interface diode working with redistribution of oxygen ions across the heterointerface driven by an electrical field. The doping effect can not only affect the electrical conductivity in the SmNiO3 film layer, but also modify the interface properties of the SmNiO3/Nb:SrTiO3 heterostructure, leading to important enhancement of switching characteristics. Two bipolar resistive switching (BRS) modes with opposite polarity and different electrical characteristics are found to coexist in the same epitaxial LaNiO3/SmNiO3/Nb:SrTiO3 heterostructure fabricated through selective area epitaxy. The dual BRS phenomena can be explained by the electrochemical migration of the oxygen vacancies and oxygen ion redistribution process. Our finding suggests that the interfacial oxygen vacancy doping is an effective method to enhance the resistive switching in a nickelate-based electronic device, showing high potential for non-volatile memory applications. The development of nanoporous organic frameworks with excellent physicochemical stability, high selectivity, and simple processability have increasingly fulfilled the urgent need for adsorbents used in the cost-effective and energy-efficient separation of benzene (Bz) and cyclohexane (Cy) vapor mixtures. Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) represent particularly promising adsorbents for these applications. However, CTFs synthesized via highly advantageous Friedel--Crafts reactions with low reaction temperature and short polymerization time have been rarely reported. The present work addresses this issue by synthesizing three CTFs, denoted as CCTF-1, CCTF-2, and CCTF-3 with cycloaliphatic moieties and progressively decreasing total pore volumes, via Friedel--Crafts reactions from 9,9'-spirobifluorene, triptycene, and 1,3,5,7-tetraphenyladamantane precursors, respectively, in conjunction with cyanuric chloride. The adsorption isotherms of single component Bz and Cy vapors demonstrate that the uptake of both vapors increases with increasing total pore volume, while the dynamic breakthrough curves obtained with CCTF-1 at a temperature of 298 K and relative pressures of 0.95 present Bz and Cy vapor uptakes of 878 mg g-1 and 441 mg g-1, respectively. Strong electron-poor cation diphenyliodonium was firstly incorporated with transition metal thiocyanates to obtain three new photo-sensitive hybrids, (DPI)3[Mn(SCN)5(H2O)]·0.25H2O (α-1), {(DPI)2[Ni(SCN)4]}n (α-2) and {(DPI)6[Cd3(SCN)12]}n (α-3) (DPI+ = diphenyliodonium), whose photo-induced structural transformations to corresponding β-phases have been disclosed. After irradiating, all the MX6 octahedrons stretch clearly along the M–S directions, and C–H⋯π interactions and the secondary hypervalent I(III)⋯S halogen bonds are weakened. The hydrogen bonds are also weakened, except for those in 1. Time-dependent solid-state UV-vis spectra, PXRD patterns and EPR spectra before and after irradiating were obtained to prove the irreversible structural transformations of the hybrids, during which minor structural adjustments occurred. Consequently, the fluorescence emission changed from blue (α-3) to yellow (β-3) upon irradiation. Interestingly, obvious photomagnetization on 1 with a χMT increase of 14.89% and photodemagnetization on 2 with a χMT decrease of 12.82% can be observed. Finally, these hybrids can be used as long-term inkless and erasable print media. We present the finding of a dimeric ACE2 peptide mimetic designed through side chain cross-linking and covalent dimerization. It has a binding affinity of 16 nM for the SARS-CoV-2 spike RBD, and effectively inhibits the SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus in Huh7-hACE2 cells with an IC50 of 190 nM and neutralizes the authentic SARS-CoV-2 in Caco2 cells with an IC50 of 2.4 μM. Atomic-scale understanding of the microstructural properties of thermoelectric (TE) materials is critical for exploring the structure–property relationship and enhancing the macroscopic performance of TE materials. Here, we demonstrate direct evidence of cation disorder in the layered compounds MBi2Te4 (M = Ge, Sn) by using scanning transmission electron microscopy imaging. The positional disordering of heterovalent cations (Ge+2/Bi+3 and Sn+2/Bi+3) mainly occurs in the 3a Wyckoff site in the crystal lattice of MBi2Te4 (M = Ge, Sn), which can affect the phonon propagation and reduce lattice thermal conductivity in these compounds. Both cation disordered GeBi2Te4 and SnBi2Te4 are degenerate n-type semiconductors with the highest thermoelectric figure of merit of ∼0.15 and ∼0.013 at 400 K, respectively. Our findings with MBi2Te4 (M = Ge, Sn) are believed to be helpful in understanding the cation ordering in the layered ternary TE compounds, which provides a strategy to tune the electron and thermal transport properties in the TE materials by incorporating deficiency or excess of constituent elements into the layered TE materials. Recently, the incidence of chronic diabetic wounds increases continuously, and the existing clinical treatment is less effective. Thus, it is an urgent need to solve these problems for better clinical treatment effects. Herein, we prepared a brand-new tailored recombinant human collagen type III (rhCol III) and constructed a multifunctional microenvironment-responsive hydrogel carrier based on multifunctional antibacterial nanoparticles (PDA@Ag NPs) and our tailored rhCol III. The multifunctional smart hydrogel disintegrated quickly at the chronic diabetic wound sites and achieved the programed on-demand release of different therapeutic substances. The first released PDA@Ag NPs showed great antibacterial properties against S. aureus and E. coli. They could kill bacteria rapidly, and also showed antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects at the wound site. The subsequent release of our tailored rhCol III could promote the proliferation and migration of mouse fibroblasts and endothelial cells during the proliferation and remodeling process of wound healing. Relevant results showed that the multifunctional smart hydrogel could promote the expression levels of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), decrease the inflammatory response, accelerate the deposition of collagen and increase cell proliferation and angiogenesis, thereby speeding up the healing of infected chronic wounds. In a word, the hydrogel, which took into consideration the complex microenvironment at the wound site and multi-stage healing process, could achieve programmed and responsive release of different therapeutic substances to meet the treatment needs in different wound healing stages. The abuse of antibiotics has caused global problems including critical environmental ecology impacts. Herein, four new metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) – {[Cd(HL)(bic)(H2O)]·2H2O}(1), {[Cd3(L)2(bbi)2(H2O)2]·2H2O}(2), [Cd3(L)2(bib)2(H2O)2] (3) and [Cd3(L)2(idy)2] (4), where bic = 3,6-bis(imidazol-1-yl)-9H-carbazole, bbi = 1,1′-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole), bib =1,4-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene and idy = 2-imidazol-1-ylpyridine – have been synthesized and fully characterized. 1 is a 1D chain with a large loop, stacked parallel to each other in 2D supramolecular layers by hydrogen-bonded and packing interactions. 2 and 3 are isostructural and show a 3D (3,8)-connected tfz-type network with (43)2(46·618·84) topology. 4 has a 2D grid framework. The oxygen atom of the ether-bridging group acts as a Lewis base site, which improves the connection strength and allows the detection of 11 types of antibiotics through the fluorescence quenching effect. Among them, 2 exhibits sensitive and selective detection for nitrofural (NZF) (KSV = 8.26 × 103 M−1 and LOD = 1.83 ppm). Invisible–visible printing with visibility controlled sensitively by hydrochromic materials is a perennially interesting scientific topic. A new hydrochromic invisible ink material, (C8H20N2)[Mn(NCS)4(H2O)2] (1), for rewritable or confidential printing is proposed and successfully demonstrated using water as the sole trigger to switch the hydrochromic dye on a solid medium. Coordination polymers (CPs) are an assorted class of multidimensional materials which can be employed as photocatalysts against the photodegradation of toxic aromatic dyes existing in wastewater discharge. Herein, two new coordination polymers with formulas [Cd3(L)2(μ2-H2O)(H2O)·2H2O] (1) and [Cd(HL)(H2O)(phen)·H2O] (2) have been derived from Y-shaped tricarboxylate ligand 1,3,5-tris(4-carbonylphenyloxy)benzene (H3L) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) as a co-ligand. The single crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that 1 presents a 3D pillar-layer framework, which contains a 1D stair-type chain and 2D layer. CP 2 displays wave-like 1D chains which link to each other to create a 2D architecture through hydrogen-bonding interactions. The introduction of the chelating N-donor ligand led to significant differences in the final frameworks. Both CPs exhibited efficient photocatalytic performance for the degradation of organic dyes viz. methyl violet (MV), methyl orange (MO), methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB) under UV irradiation. Moreover, a possible photocatalytic mechanism via trapping experiments of active species has been proposed. In addition, a mechanistic study towards better understanding of the photocatalytic degradation of dyes has been accomplished through LC-MS studies. Due to the synergistic effect of Cr3+ dopant levels and defect state, the luminescence intensity and decay time in LaAlO3 are remarkably enhanced, and the emission wavelength from deep-red (Cr3+ as the luminescent center) to NIR-II/III (defect states as the luminescent center) can be effectively tuned via an energy transfer process.
