Background: A joint statement from two federal agencies in the United States calls for coordination and collaboration between programs serving families of infants and toddlers who are at risk or developmentally delayed or disabled U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Young Native American children living on tribal lands in this country are currently eligible for two federal programs associated with these agencies which overlap in mission and implementation. Purpose: This paper outlines potential strategies for creating a more seamless system of services for tribal families involving more centralized intake processes and procedures, cross training of staff to work across programs, and adopting more unifying approaches to program implementation. Conclusion: A streamlined system of services will result in interventions that better support family and child outcomes while reducing duplication of services, consolidating the limited number of qualified professionals available to provide services, and increasing convenience and cultural attunement of services to Native American families currently participating in both programs. Purpose: Maternal substance use and deaths due to overdoses are increasing nationwide. Evidence suggests that the rate of resumed substance use, and fatal and non-fatal overdose is greatest in the first year after birth, particularly around six months postpartum, compared to other parts of the perinatal period. Doula care has been linked to improvements in perinatal health and outcomes. Description: In response to the opioid epidemic, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health developed and implemented the Doula Support Program (DSP), with a focus on one year of postpartum care for birthing people with a substance use disorder (SUD). In this paper, we describe the program and its formation and report on the early challenges and successes of the program implementation, based on information we received from program founders and managers in a group interview. Assessment: Early successes of the program include partnering with local community-based programs to recruit and retain doulas, supplementing traditional doula education with perinatal SUD-specific trainings, and maximizing client referrals by collaborating with local organizations and treatment centers that serve birthing people with SUD. Client retention, however, has proven to be challenging, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: The DSP continues to grow, and lessons learned will facilitate program improvements. The goal of this paper is to outline the development and launch of the DSP and to act as a model for other state and local health departments interested in providing doula care for birthing people with SUD. Significance: Maternal substance use and fatal overdoses are increasing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In response to this crisis, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Division of Maternal, Child and Family Health developed the Doula Support Program (DSP), offering doula care to pregnant people with a current or past SUD history up to one-year postpartum. This paper explores the perception of African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) religious leaders on HIV vulnerability and their role in HIV prevention among ACB communities in Windsor, Ontario. We conducted one semi-structured focus group discussion with nine Black religious leaders, most of whose congregants are members of the ACB community. Most religious leaders in the focus group had a negative perception of the transmission of HIV, but they acknowledged their own important role in HIV prevention strategies. This role is collaborative in nature, from the stage of designing HIV prevention strategies to implementing prevention messages. The religious leaders noted, however, that some challenges, such as church doctrine and congregational culture, are likely to impede their HIV prevention efforts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper discusses the objective reasons for the growing need for qualified medical services, especially in the context of pandemics, wars, disasters, and shortages of medical staff. The directions of development of robotics in medicine are analyzed, leading to the conclusion that the use of intelligent collaborative (i.e., interacting with humans) robotics in medicine is possible and appropriate. Robot assistants can perform many auxiliary operations, which will help relieve the workload of middle and junior medical staff, and, if necessary, replace them when performing such operations. The development of a shared data infrastructure across health systems could improve research, clinical care, and health policy across a spectrum of diseases, including sepsis. Awareness of the potential value of such infrastructure has been heightened by COVID-19, as the lack of a real-time, interoperable data network impaired disease identification, mitigation, and eradication. The Sepsis on FHIR collaboration establishes a dynamic, federated, and interoperable system of sepsis data from 55 hospitals using 2 distinct inpatient electronic health record systems. Here we report on phase 1, a systematic review to identify clinical variables required to define sepsis and its subtypes to produce a concept mapping of elements onto Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR). Relevant papers described consensus sepsis definitions, provided criteria for sepsis, severe sepsis, septic shock, or detailed sepsis subtypes. Studies not written in English, published prior to 1970, or "grey" literature were prospectively excluded. We analyzed 55 manuscripts yielding 151 unique clinical variables. We then mapped variables to their corresponding US Core FHIR resources and specific code values. This work establishes the framework to develop a flexible infrastructure for sharing sepsis data, highlighting how FHIR could enable the extension of this approach to other important conditions relevant to public health. Community engagement is recognized as an effective means to maximizing public health program impacts despite challenges such as power imbalances that can undermine efforts. The value of engaging communities as equitable partners in the design and delivery of community-based programs has gained increasing traction over the last few decades. Most research in this area has been focused on partnerships between academia and communities, leaving a knowledge gap regarding engagement between community organizations and between community organizations and members. This paper presents a process evaluation that aimed to identify and describe factors found to impact and promote community engagement efforts within a multisite, multiyear, community-based prevention initiative. Findings highlight that strategies such as investing in trust-building efforts, engaging community influencers, and providing meaningful opportunities for community member involvement can help facilitate effective implementation. Hispanics are the largest U.S. immigrant group and Mexican Americans are the largest U.S. Hispanic population. Hispanics, particularly Mexican Americans, are among the highest risk groups for obesity, placing them at increased risk for cardiovascular disease and certain types of cancer. Obesity lifestyle interventions incorporating Motivational Interviewing techniques and specific adaptations for the population of interest can have a significant impact on reducing health risks. This paper presents a community-engaged, culturally-sensitive nutrition and dietary counseling intervention conducted between 2016 and 2018 at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York City and reports preliminary findings regarding participant satisfaction and self-reported changes in eating and exercise habits. In addition, it describes the community and academic partners' roles and processes in program development, discusses strengths and challenges posed by a multi-sector partnership and describes adaptations made using the Behavioral Model for Vulnerable Populations to increase the program's sustainability and potential for scalability. Background: The allocation of resident physicians to clinical rotations presents a complex challenge that requires balancing multiple objectives with the goals of providing optimal patient care, maintaining adequate departmental staffing, and maximizing residents' training experience. While adhering to governing guidelines and training regulations, these physicians must comply with curricular milestones and educational goals for progression that must be achieved within specific time constraints. This manuscript reports on how to create annual master rotation schedules to meet the training requirements for 60 residents, while addressing the requirements detailed above. Methods: Trainees in the field of Emergency Medicine have to meet variable essential annual curricula requirements. Methods of preparing rotations in different Emergency Departments are presented which usually need early planning to ensure the best coordination and number allocation among the different internal and external collaborative departments. This off-institution and off-service external rotation is an educational necessity regulated by the Saudi Commission of Health Sciences to maximize residents' exposure and meet the expected educational milestones unique to Emergency Medicine training. Results: We report how to create annual master rotation schedules to meet the training requirements for 60 Emergency Medicine residents, while maintaining steady adequate departmental staffing and accommodating the different external rotation capacities, a task that is usually handled by the chief residents and program director. Although some parts of this process can be performed by using scheduling software or with particular decision support management systems, many steps are still filtered and checked manually. External circumstances mandate changes in schedules that require last-minute changes which may overrule training restrictions and make them unfeasible. Conclusion: To create such an agile schedule, we maintain a standardized template with preset blocks and rotations. Residents can choose the most suitable track that meets their preference for year-long rotation blocks. Thus, we minimize the individual variability in the preset allocations, guarantee an even distribution, give equal chances to each resident to accommodate and approximate their individual preferences, and decrease the overall workload and time consumed annually. Purpose: Sexual violence (SV) and adolescent relationship abuse (ARA) are common in the U. S. and have strong associations with negative health and wellbeing outcomes. Manhood 2.0 is the first U.S. program designed for community settings to build bystander skills while also challenging harmful gender norms. A cluster-randomized trial comparing Manhood 2.0 to Job Skills, a job readiness training control condition, demonstrated that it is a promising strategy to prevent sexual violence and adolescent relationship abuse. Such community-based interventions may be particularly relevant in lower resource urban settings, and the costs of such prevention programs have not been considered previously. Methods: The aim of the present study is to perform systematic and standardized cost calculations associated with implementing Manhood 2.0 among adolescent males. In addition, this study provides detailed cost information of the community-based intervention program, as well as costs associated with implementing the Job Skills control program. Program implementation data were recorded throughout the study period (2015–2019) by the Manhood 2.0 study team. Results: The cost of implementing Manhood 2.0 is $4,771 per complete round of program delivery and $451 per participant, which is approximately the same cost as the control Job Skills program ($4,432 and $453 per participant). The marginal cost per additional round of Manhood 2.0 program is $3,682. Conclusion: Implementation of a community-based program requires substantial resources and collaborations with community partners especially in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. This study provides a snapshot of the cost information of a community-based intervention program from the implementing agency's perspective, which is essential in helping decision-makers understand the costs they will incur by implementing prevention programs and ensuring program feasibility and sustainability. This article presents a case study on perceived conflict and its outcomes on implementing a system of programs and services for child development support. A multi-level collaboration model is used to deeply examine aspects of conflicts perceived by professionals responsible for implementing the system at the national, state, and local levels. This research adopted a single case approach with qualitative methods using semi-structured interviews and exploratory thematic analysis. A total of 29 professionals working at social development and health ministries, state departments, and one municipality participated in this study. The results show that professionals perceive one main unresolved conflict at each of the ecological levels. These conflicts are related to an informalized collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Education, an interrupted resource flow from the national level to local level, and an unmanageable internal pressure at the state level. Furthermore, the compensatory strategies they use to deal with these conflicts are ineffective and lead to negative implementation outcomes. We suggest that future research should explore systemic conflict for the collaboration processes among the professionals to improve, thus increasing the quality of system implementation. Highlights: Professionals perceive one main unresolved conflict at each of the three ecological levels examined. Conflicts are related to informalized agreements between ministries, interrupted resource flow from the national level, and pressure from the local level. Professionals use compensatory strategies to cope with unresolved conflicts. The compensatory strategies identified are ineffective and lead to negative implementation outcomes. Young mothers with child welfare involvement often participate in programs to prevent future child maltreatment. However, most programs are not designed for young mothers and overlook unique challenges related to development, psychosocial stressors, relationships, and stigma. This scoping review synthesized existing literature and mapped what is known about programs designed for young mothers with child welfare involvement in Canada and the United States. The scoping review protocol was designed using Arksey and O'Malley's methodological framework. An extensive search was conducted from university databases and grey literature. The inclusion criteria were (1) the program was designed for parents under 25 years old, (2) the program serves mothers with child welfare involvement, (3) the studies are published in English, and (4) the programs were delivered in Canada or the United States. The search results included 1925 articles and 14 were screened using the inclusion criteria. Article publication dates ranged from 1981 to 2017, with most studies being conducted in the United States. Three themes identified in this review were (1) service delivery approaches, (2) program outcomes, and (3) collaboration with child welfare services. The findings suggest that few programs designed for young mothers exist in Canada and the United States. A variety of program evaluation methods and program delivery approaches were found. Program characteristics that may benefit young mothers with child welfare involvement include incorporating peer support initiatives, the explicit intention to build a therapeutic alliance between the service provider and the mother, and prolonged service delivery. Purpose Common mental disorders (CMDs) are a major cause of sick leave. Return-to-work (RTW) interventions providing mechanisms that support the participation and collaboration of the different stakeholders appear promising in these circumstances. The Therapeutic Return-to-Work (TRW) Program offers such mechanisms designed to enable affected workers to fully reintegrate into their jobs on a sustainable basis. This study evaluated the feasibility of implementing this program for workers with CMDs, within a specialized mental health hospital. Methods The study was conducted using a multiple case design and three main data sources: (1) the worker's medical file, (2) the log completed by the clinicians, and (3) individual interviews with stakeholders. Data were analyzed using a qualitative approach. Results Twelve workers between 32 and 60 years old, mostly women with complex mental health profiles working in large enterprises, participated in this study. Three main observations were made regarding the TRW Program implementation: (1) eight cases were characterized by complete or virtually complete implementation; (2) no explanatory factor could be identified for the different implementation levels; (3) eight cases achieved RTW success (RTW to the original job or another job), which appears partially attributable to the high level of program implementation. Conclusions: The TRW Program seems highly promising for supporting the return to work of workers with CMDs. However, studies identifying the factors likely to influence the implementation process in different health service contexts and specifying the scope and nature of the program's actual impact on RTW outcomes should be conducted before larger-scale implementation takes place. Background: Community Occupational Therapy in Dementia in Italy (COTID−IT) is a feasible and effective treatment that aims improving the quality of life and well−being of people with dementia and caregivers. The implementation of the program in the national context has not been studied yet. Aim: The objective of this study is to identify barriers and facilitators in the Italian implementation of the program. Methods: We designed a quantitative cross-sectional survey. A questionnaire was developed to collect descriptive data regarding the respondents, the perceived barriers and facilitators regarding the application of COTiD and possible actions to promote the implementation process. Results: The questionnaire was sent to all 90 Italian OTs trained in the use of COTiD−IT from 2013 to 2020. 50 people responded (61%). Barriers to the implementation of the COTID−IT included lack of knowledge about Occupational Therapy and the COTID−IT program by other health professionals. In addition, the scarcity of economic funds invested in home rehabilitation is experienced as another significant barrier. Facilitators were found to be the presence of an interprofessional team interested in the COTID−IT program and occupational therapy and the fact that COTID−IT is supported by scientific evidence. The creation of national and regional inter professional education and support groups, the availability of online resources are seen as opportunities to better implement the COTID−IT program. Conclusions: Implementation of psychosocial interventions is complex. OTs in Italy should be increasingly included within health policies and care programs of people with dementia to promote the use of COTID−IT. Further studies are needed to detail the policy and methodological actions that OTs should take in the future to disseminate and consolidate this intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Preterm birth, defined as birth at gestational age before 37 weeks, is a major public health concern with marked racial disparities driven by underlying structural and social determinants of health. To achieve population-level reductions in preterm birth and to reduce racial inequities, the University of California, San Francisco's California Preterm Birth Initiative catalyzed two cross-sector coalitions in San Francisco and Fresno using the Collective Impact (CI) approach. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare two preterm birth-focused CI efforts and identify common themes and lessons learned. Methods: Researchers conducted in-depth interviews (n = 19) and three focus groups (n = 20) with stakeholders to assess factors related to collaboration. Transcripts were coded and analyzed using modified grounded theory. Findings were compared by year of data collection (first and second cycle in each location) and geographic location (Fresno and San Francisco) and discussed with CI participants for input. Results: Although both communities adopted the core tenets of CI to address preterm birth and racial inequities, each employed distinct organizational structures, strategic frameworks, and interventions. Common themes emerged around the importance of authentic community engagement, transparency in the process of prioritization and decision-making, addressing racism as a root cause of disparities in birth outcomes, and candid communication among partners. Conclusion: Future CI efforts, particularly those catalyzed by academic institutions, should ensure community members are active partners in program development and decision-making. Objectives: Since 2013 the MCH Bureau has supported the National MCH Workforce Development Center to strengthen the Title V MCH workforce. This article describes the Center's Cohort Program and lessons learned about work-based learning, instruction, and coaching. Description: The Cohort Program is a leadership development program that enrolls state-level teams for skill development and work-based learning to address a self-identified challenge in their state. Teams attend a Learning Institute that teaches concepts, skills, and practical tools in systems integration; change management and adaptive leadership; and evidence-based decision-making and implementation. Teams then work back home on their challenges, aided by coaching. The Program's goals are for teams to expand and use their skills to address their challenge, and that teams would strengthen programs, organizations, and policies, use their skills to address other challenges, and ultimately improve MCH outcomes. Methods: This process evaluation is based on evaluation forms completed by attendees at the three-day Learning Institute; six-month follow-up interviews with team leaders; and a modified focus group with staff. Results: Participants and staff believe the Cohort Program effectively merges a practical skill-based curriculum, work-based learning in teams, and coaching. The Learning Institute provides a foundation of skills and tools, strengthens the team's relationship with their coach, and builds the team. The work-based learning period provides structure, accountability, and a "practice space" for teams to apply the Cohort Program's skills and tools to address their challenge. In this period, teams deepen collaborations and often add partners. The coach provides accessible and tailored guidance in teamwork and skill application. These dimensions helped teams in develop skills and address state-level MCH challenges. Conclusions for Practice: Continuing professional development programs can help leaders learn to address complex state-level MCH challenges through integrated classroom-based skills development, work-based learning on state challenges, and tailored coaching. Objectives: To describe the process of developing and implementing experiential learning through translational research teams that engage diverse undergraduate and graduate students. Methods: After a college redesign, translational research teams were developed to foster multidisciplinary research and better integrate students with faculty research, community, and clinical activities. Three primary approaches were used to engage undergraduate and graduate students in the maternal and child health translational research team (MCH TrT). These included an undergraduate experiential learning course; participation in translational research team meetings and events; and mentorship activities including graduate student theses and supplementary projects. Results: Since 2019, a total of 56 students have engaged with the MCH translational research team. The majority (64%) of students engaging in translational research were undergraduates. Racial and ethnic diversity was evident with 16% Latinx, 14% Black/African American, 12% Asian, 10% two or more races, and 4% Native American or Native Hawaiian. A large proportion (42%) of students indicated that they were first-generation college students, while 24% indicated they had a disability. Five themes emerged from student feedback about their involvement in the experiential learning course: the value of translational research, development of research skills, collaboration, practice development, and value for community partners. Conclusions for Practice: Through an MCH translational research team, we have established a pathway to enhance diversity among the MCH workforce which will increase recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups, and ultimately improve MCH research and practice. Not monitoring adherence to oral anticancer therapies (OAT) can lead to poor clinical outcomes, including premature death as reported by Foulon et al. (Acta Clin Belg 66(2):85–96, 2011) and Greer et al. (Oncologist 21(3):354–76, 2016). Barriers to the implementation of supportive cancer care interventions in medication adherence occur with multiple hospital sites, cancer diagnoses, and numerous healthcare professionals. This commentary describes challenges and strategies from two OAT adherence trials in Australia and Switzerland to assist researchers in the design and implementation of future interprofessional trials. Introduction: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic events that occur before 18 years. ACEs, associated with increased health-risk behaviors and chronic health disorders, disproportionately impact people from marginalized communities. Evidence shows that toxic stress from ACEs and adverse social determinants of health can be prevented and treated with trauma-informed care (TIC). The purpose of this educational program was to train a maternal and child health workforce to bring evidence-based trauma-informed care to all impacted people. Methods: Participants were professionals recruited from Federally Qualified Health Centers, community behavioral health organizations, educational institutions, and agencies serving low-income children and families. 100 unique participants representing 3 counties and 54 agencies joined sessions. Twelve virtual educational sessions were convened over 6 months using the Project ECHO® model via Zoom technology. Sessions consisted of didactic lectures and case-based discussions. Results: After completion of the series, participants reported high satisfaction and increased knowledge and confidence in using TIC best practice skills. After participation, a significant number of participants voluntarily completed an additional online training about the specific TIC best practices that had been taught in the ECHO. Participants rated the opportunity for interprofessional collaboration and peer support for vicarious trauma as program strengths. Discussion: This project demonstrated feasibility and effectiveness in delivery of a curriculum on trauma-informed care to cross-sector, multi-agency maternal and child health workforce professionals using the Project ECHO® model. This study investigates the feasibility and impact of the ParentingWell Learning Collaborative (PWLC) model in supporting mental health practitioners in implementing the family-focused ParentingWell practice approach with adults with mental illness. An exploratory design and qualitative methods were employed. Practitioners (n = 29) participated in in-person orientation, training and debriefing sessions; virtual coaching sessions; and via an interactive online hub. Researchers obtained data on participant engagement and satisfaction, and participants' reports of use, helpfulness, intention to use and impact. Participants were engaged in and highly satisfied with the PWLC. They deployed PWLC skills, tools and resources with parents. Evidence of impact was provided at the personal, practice and organizational levels. This study provides preliminary support for the feasibility and impact of the PWLC. Clear specification of a theoretically-based training model for practitioners is an essential step in adapting, implementing and testing interventions in new contexts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Myriad digital tools exist to support mental health but there are multiple barriers to using these tools in routine care. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of an intervention incorporating a support role to help the clinical team identify and use technology to promote recovery. The technology specialist intervention is 3 months in duration and comprises four stages: goal setting, researching and evaluating tools, demonstrating and selecting tools, and ongoing support. We implemented the intervention in a community mental health center and a dual diagnosis treatment program, working with eight clients and their case managers. Clients and case managers willingly engaged with the technology specialist and found the intervention beneficial. Integration and collaboration with the care team facilitated implementation of the technology specialist in these real-world settings. Clients reported that the intervention made it easy to try a digital tool. Six of the eight participants stated that they made substantial progress toward their goals. The technology specialist is a promising new role for mental health care delivery to augment traditional services and enhance individualized recovery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Women in South Africa living with HIV who use alcohol may not adhere to ART, affecting the country's 90-90-90 targets. The Women's Health CoOp (WHC), a woman-focused HIV intervention, has shown efficacy in numerous trials with key populations of women in South Africa who use alcohol and drugs. In a hybrid implementation effectiveness study, the WHC was implemented in usual care clinics by healthcare providers in a modified stepped-wedge design. We present the outcomes of alcohol use and ART adherence with 480 women, with a 95% 6-month follow-up rate across 4 implementation cycles. Compared with the first cycle, women in the fourth cycle were significantly less likely (OR = 0.10 [95% CI 0.04, 0.24]) to report alcohol use disorder risk and were 4 times more likely (OR = 4.16 [95% CI 1.05, 16.51]) to report ART adherence at 6-month follow-up. Overall, acceptability and satisfaction were extremely high. The WHC intervention was successful in reaching key populations of women to reduce alcohol use and increase ART adherence, which is essential for South Africa to reach the 90-90-90 goals. Introduction: Trauma is a leading cause of mortality and comprises an important cause of functional impairment among young people worldwide. The trauma registry (TR) is an integral component of modern comprehensive trauma care systems. Nevertheless, TRs have not been yet established in most developing countries. The objective of this study was to summarize the challenges, results, and lessons learned from a trauma program including initial results from a TR at tertiary-care public hospitals of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Material and methods: This is a descriptive study of the implementation of a trauma program in 14 hospitals and analysis of the initial results in the period between January 2010 and December 2018, using data from Fundación Trauma TR. Patients fitting injury definition that remained in hospital for more than 23 h were included. Injured patients were divided by age groups. Data on patients' demographics, mechanism of injury and severity, complications, treatments, and in-hospital mortality were analyzed between groups. A descriptive analysis is presented. Results: There were 29,970 trauma cases during the study period. Median age was 23 years (RIC 12, 39) with a 2.4:1 male-to-female ratio. Road traffic injuries (RTI) were the leading mechanism (30.8%) of admission and head was the most frequently injured body region (33.2%). Two-thirds of RTIs were motorcycle-related. Overall in-hospital mortality was 6.1%. Intentional self-harm in adult males and burns in adult females had the highest mortality rates (17.6% and 17.9%, respectively). Conclusions and discussion: The implementation of a trauma program within a public–private collaborative program in a resource-limited environment is feasible. The hospital-based TR can be used as a tool for injury surveillance, monitoring of the quality of trauma care, development of a trauma system, and to guide public health policies. "Street psychiatry" is an innovative model that serves people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, a vulnerable population with increased rates of mental illness and substance use disorders. Through community-based delivery of mental health and addiction treatment, street psychiatry helps the street-dwelling population overcome barriers to accessing care through traditional routes. Throughout the United States, street psychiatry programs have arisen in multiple cities, often in partnership with street medicine programs. We discuss the philosophy of street psychiatry, document operational highlights involved in the development of a street psychiatry program in New Haven, CT, suggest key ingredients to implementing a street psychiatry program, and explore challenges and future frontiers. Street psychiatry is an effective person-centered model of service delivery with the potential to be applied in a variety of urban settings to serve people experiencing street homelessness. The study reports the results of a qualitative study on the views and experiences of non-peer mental health providers on working together with peer colleagues in mental health. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 providers in different mental health settings. Data were systematic analyzed using thematic analysis and resulted in three overall themes: (1) The relationship and collaboration between the mental health providers and their peer colleagues, (2) The benefits of working with peers, and (3) The challenges of working with peers. In analyzing the data material, the theme of the relationship and collaboration between the non-peer mental health providers and their peer colleagues could be organized into two subthemes on the differences that the providers perceived between themselves and their peer colleagues. One subtheme was on differences when the providers perceived the differences as positive and meaningful. The other subtheme was on differences between themselves and their peer colleagues when the providers perceived the differences as concerning. This study's findings show that the attitudes and experiences of peer support in mental health providers are in general positive, but also that mental health providers in the early phases of peer support implementation could have many concerns and may find the perceived and mainly valued differences between themselves and their peer support colleagues also distressing. The implications for practice include a need to address possible barriers to peer support, including frustration or feelings of injustice among mental health providers, especially as such issues are not easy to pinpoint or address by formal guidelines on peer support. Person-centered care remains a high priority within community mental health services. Clinical supervision is an embedded resource for professional development and promotion of high quality care. This study examined supervisory strategies during the implementation of person-centered care planning (PCCP) across two northeastern US States. A criterion sample of supervisor-provider teams participated in qualitative interviews (N = 34) and direct observation from 2016 to 2017. Modified grounded theory analyses were conducted and three supervisory strategies were identified. Supervisory attunement to providers (knowing their audience), active collaborative engagement with providers (practicing together), and infusing reminders and opportunities for feedback (chipping away) were critical strategies to engage providers in adopting PCCP. These strategies changed providers' practice patterns by improving supervisors' calibration to dynamic contextual and individual needs during implementation and communicating supervisors' expectations of PCCP enactment. Rehabilitation is a person-centred approach that optimizes functioning to reduce impairments in individuals with illness, injury or disability. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) have a role in rehabilitation to inform clinical practice, enhance patient-centered care, support health services programming, direct performance measurement, and contribute to quality improvement. A Canadian provincial health system implemented a Rehabilitation Model of Care that provides a real-world perspective on the adoption of a standardized PROM, the EuroQol EQ-5D-5L, in the community rehabilitation setting. This article will provide an overview of PROMs implementation in the community rehabilitation context, and discuss key facilitators and challenges to implementation within the 18 early adopter sites and with the spread and scale to 152 urban and rural sites. A change management approach, contextualized local coaching and strong leadership support were facilitators in the initial phases of implementation. Adequate resources and infrastructure from technological platforms for electronic data capture and visualization were assets in addition to clinical teams that had existing strong quality improvement cultures to collect PROMS in existing workflows. Challenges to implementation include the clinical relevance of the PROM, difficulty with contextualization to suit diverse clinical and programmatic teams, and the need for further knowledge sharing activities to build readiness for adoption. The implementation of PROMs in community rehabilitation has added value at the clinical (micro), programmatic (meso) and health system level (macro). Clinically, it has promoted the importance of incorporating the patients' voice into outcome measurement. At the program level, the cultivation of a data informed learning community was fostered as teams make improvements and use data to inform future program growth or service changes. Finally, at the health system level, data visualization promotes transparency and accountability with performance across the province and the standardized use of the EQ-5D-5L provides a consistent language to promote measurement throughout the health system. Behavioral health home models are increasingly being utilized to provide physical-behavioral health integration for individuals with mental illness. The Behavioral Health Home Plus model (BHHP) is a phased approach designed to instill a culture of wellness, provide wellness coaching, and offer care coordination for individuals with serious mental illness. The present study utilized a 12-month Learning Collaborative to implement scaling of BHHP in two cohorts totaling 24 community mental health provider organizations in Pennsylvania to include population-wide screening and intervention for tobacco use and hypertension. Providers reported increases in screening rates and wellness goals related to tobacco use and hypertension, as well as reductions in tobacco use and blood pressure readings among participating individuals. Evidence presented indicates that a Learning Collaborative of community mental health providers is a feasible quality improvement approach to scale integration of physical and behavioral health care for individuals with serious mental illness. Aim: The aim of this study was to implement a HIV stigma reduction/health literacy educational program to investigate HIV stigma reduction and HIV knowledge and health literacy expansion within a cross-generational African American faith center on the west side of Chicago. Subject and methods: The study included a community-based mixed method design, enveloped with elements of "stigma reduction, intergroup contact and religious social capital" theories, analyzed a sample size of fourteen (N = 14) faith center participants' pre- and post-assessment scores and their direct quotes gathered from focused observations. Results: The study presented significant difference found in HIV knowledge (p =.007), and (HIV) health literacy (p =.041). Additionally, significant difference was found in four out of fifteen HIV stereotypes subscales scores on the Stereotype About AIDS Questionnaire. Conclusion: The study suggests that HIV stigma has potentiality to reduce within the African American faith center population contrary to previous studies where HIV stigma reduction was not evident. The intervention model provided a protocol for partnership development between this faith center and the local community hospital infectious disease program to address HIV stigma, HIV knowledge and health literacy (HIV health literacy). The promotion of inter- and multidisciplinarity — broadly drawing on other disciplines to help collaboratively answer important questions to the field — has been an important goal for many professional development organisations, universities, and research institutes in sport science. While welcoming collaboration, this opinion piece discusses the value of transdisciplinary research for sports science. The reason for this is that inter- and multidisciplinary research are still bound by disciplinary convention — often leading sport science researchers to study about a phenomenon based on pre-determined disciplinary ways of conceptualising, measuring, and doing. In contrast, transdisciplinary research promotes contextualised study with a phenomenon, like sport, unbound by disciplinary confines. It includes a more narrative and abductive way of performing research, with this abduction likely opening new lines of inquiry for attentive researchers to follow. It is in the weaving of these lines where researchers can encounter new information, growing knowledge in-between, through, and beyond the disciplines to progressively entangle novel and innovative insights related to a phenomenon or topic of interest. To guide innovation and the development of such research programmes in sport science, we lean on the four cornerstones of transdisciplinarity proposed by Alfonso Montuori, exemplifying what they could mean for such research programmes in sport science. Sickle cell disease (SCD), an inherited blood disorder, impacts 2% of newborns in Nigeria and Ghana. Despite devastating health consequences, SCD prevention is not a priority in either country. This article describes our U.S. research team's feasibility assessment for adapting CHOICES, a computer-based SCD education program, for use in Ghana and Nigeria. We identified indigenous collaborators by reviewing published research and investigating advocacy organizations online. This led to a fact-finding trip to Africa to discuss SCD prevention with local boards of advisors. Three major recommendations emerged from the group discussions: design a culturally appropriate intervention; enlist community healthcare workers to deliver the CHOICES program; and collaborate with religious and community leaders and elders in public awareness campaigns. Based on extensive advisor input, we will modify the content and delivery of the CHOICES intervention to meet the needs of those impacted by SCD in Ghana and Nigeria. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The concept of Just-In-Time Training (JITT) is to provide critical information specific to a public health crisis, allowing individuals to understand and respond to an urgent situation. The design of the JITT curriculum appropriate for school-aged children during the COVID-19 pandemic is vital, as every individual has a role to play in mitigating the spread of SARS-CoV-2. When working with various communities, considering culture and religion is essential, as aligning values and beliefs with the JITT curriculum's objectives may significantly change the community's behavior toward a public health crisis. In this narrative, we describe how a JITT curriculum for the COVID-19 pandemic, created in Maryland, US, and implemented in a Catholic school system, aligned with core Catholic social teachings. This alignment allowed for implementing and delivering the COVID-19 curriculum in Maryland's Archdiocese Catholic school system, culminating in a medical-religious partnership that serves as a model for future public health crises. AI-based prediction models demonstrate equal or surpassing performance compared to experienced physicians in various research settings. However, only a few have made it into clinical practice. Further, there is no standardized protocol for integrating AI-based physician support systems into the daily clinical routine to improve healthcare delivery. Generally, AI/physician collaboration strategies have not been extensively investigated. A recent study compared four potential strategies for AI model deployment and physician collaboration to investigate the performance of an AI model trained to identify signs of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) on chest X-ray images.
