Amyloid light chain (AL) amyloidosis is the most common systemic amyloidosis. The objective of this scoping review was to map the available literature on the diagnosis of AL amyloidosis in China. The published academic papers related to the diagnosis of AL amyloidosis were screened from 1 January 2000 to 15 September 2021. Chinese patients who have suspected AL amyloidosis were included. The included studies were categorized into accuracy studies and descriptive studies based on if the studies supplied the diagnostic accuracy data or not. The information on the diagnostic methods reported by included studies was synthesized. Forty-three articles were included for the final scoping review, with 31 belonging to descriptive studies and 12 having information on diagnostic accuracy. Although cardiac involvement was second top in Chinese patients with AL amyloidosis, a cardiac biopsy was rare. Next, we found light chain classification and monoclonal (M-) protein identification were essential methods for the diagnosis of AL amyloidosis in China. In addition, some combined tests (e.g. immunohistochemistry and serum free light chain, immunohistochemistry and immunofixation electrophoresis, and serum free light chain and immunofixation electrophoresis) can increase the sensitivity of the diagnosis. Finally, several adjuvant methods (e.g. Imaging, N-terminal-pro hormone BNP, and brain natriuretic peptide test) were important for AL amyloidosis diagnosis. This scoping review details the characteristics and results of the recently published studies on diagnosing AL Amyloidosis in China. Biopsy is the most important method for AL Amyloidosis diagnosis in China. In addition, combined tests and some adjuvant methods played essential roles in the diagnosis. Further research is required to determine an acceptable and feasible diagnostic algorithm after symptom onset. With an increasing number of children diagnosed with Autism-Spectrum-Disorder in Canada, this paper focuses on how their mothers, as Asian immigrant women, experience the process of diagnosis and learn to parent their children. By taking two Asian (Korean and Chinese) mothers' critical personal narratives as major data sources, this paper aims to explore the diagnosis process of Autism-Spectrum-Disorder through a sociocultural lens on the intersectionality of (im)migrants and their cultural competence, and argues that their identity (re)construction and learning for parenting take place at the intersectionality of race, gender, class, and disability. This paper highlights possible implications for everyone involved in this 'medical' process, in the context of Canadian or other similar multicultural societies. Asian immigrant mothers usually have to deal with children with Autism-Spectrum-Disorder (ASD) and they have bitter experience of mistreatment tied to race, gender and class. This study reveals how Asian immigrant mothers struggled in their integration to Canadian society as well as their experiences of denial into Canada's medical system. The stories of these two women shed lights on the social and cultural aspects of immigrant mothers' learning strategies, including how they utilize accessible resources and networks for their children's treatment and diagnosis. This paper suggests that policymakers need to consider the social and cultural aspects of diagnosis in immigrant families to better fit their needs and provide them appropriate medical and social support. The diagnostic value of angle β in school-aged children with asthma is unknown. We speculate that angle β may reflect diversification of the forced expiratory flow (FEF) to some extent. The objective of this study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of angle β, FeNO, pulmonary function parameters and their combinations for asthma in school-aged children. In total, 248 children participated in this study (140 children with asthma and 108 healthy children). The diagnostic performance of angle β, FeNO and pulmonary function parameters was determined using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. In the ROC analysis, we used the hold out cross-validation method to avoid overfitting. This study was performed in China and followed the Guidelines for the diagnosis and optimal management of asthma in children (China). 1) In the asthma group, the mean angle β value was significantly smaller than that in the control group (P < 0.001), but the mean FeNO value was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.001). 2) More acute exacerbation or greater severity corresponded to a smaller angle β. 3) Among the single indices, the area under the ROC curve of angle β was the largest (except for FEV1/FVC%). For combined indicators, after cross-verification, the combination of angle β, FEV1/FVC% and FeNO showed the highest diagnostic accuracy. Angle β combined with FeNO and FEV1/FVC% can improve the diagnostic accuracy for asthma in school-aged children. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most commonly used imaging method to evaluate glioma recurrence. However, conventional MRI has difficulty distinguishing glioma accurately. This study aimed to explore the value of diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) in evaluating glioma recurrence and post-treatment-related changes. PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database and China Science and Technology Journal Database were extensively searched in accordance with inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria to obtain appropriate included studies. The quality of the included studies was evaluated using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) tool. Combined sensitivity and specificity and the area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curve (SROC) with the 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated. Seventeen high-quality studies were included. The combined sensitivity was 0.82 (95% CI: 0.76–0.87), the specificity was 0.83 (95% CI: 0.76–0.89), the positive likelihood ratio was 4.9 (95% CI: 3.2–7.5), the negative likelihood ratio was 0.21 (95% CI: 0.15–0.30), the diagnostic odds ratio was 23 (95%: CI 11–48), and the area under the SROC was 0.90 (95% CI: 0.87–0.92). In this study, we aimed to investigate treatment options and the prognosis of patients with WM in China. This retrospective study included 1141 patients diagnosed with symptomatic WM between January 2003 and December 2019 at 35 tertiary hospitals in 22 provinces of China. Fifty-four patients (7.3%) received monotherapy, 264 (36.0%) received chemoimmunotherapy, 395 (53.8%) received other combination regimens without rituximab, and 21 (2.9%) received ibrutinib. Using a multivariable Cox regression model, age > 65 years old, platelets <100 × 109/L, serum albumin <3.5 g/dl, β2 microglobulin concentration ≥4 mg/L and LDH ≥250 IU/L predicted poor OS. In summary, our study showed that frontline treatment choices for WM are widely heterogeneous. We validated most of the established prognostic factors in the rIPSS (age >65 years, LDH ≥250 IU/L, ALB <3.5 g/dl and β2 microglobulin ≥4 mg/L) together with PLT ≤ 100 × 109/L indicate a poor prognosis for patients with WM.
