This paper analyses the development of UNESCO's Mahatma Gandhi Institute on Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), examining its record from global, national and institutional perspectives. The global perspective encompasses challenges to UNESCO's attempts to articulate a distinctive, humanistic vision in competition with other multilateral bodies. The national perspective relates to India, which hosts MGIEP, provides the bulk of its funding and exerts significant influence over its governance. Consideration is also given to the relationship between MGIEP's work and Mahatma Gandhi's ideas. Finally, the institutional perspective relates both to the author's own experience with MGIEP, and to information gained through interviews with others involved with the institute. It is argued that MGIEP's story illuminates challenges to attempts, within India and internationally, to sustain a humanistic vision of education in the face of powerful countervailing interests. The article introduces neuroscience methods in HRD through a study that highlights the role of reflection in developing leaders. Despite increased attention on neuroscience discoveries and its methodologies in the social sciences, there is limited research among HRD scholars that incorporates neuroscience approaches. Relatedly, HRD practitioners and scholars often view reflection as a critical element for developing human resources and leaders. Yet, there is a dearth of research that focuses on the impact of reflection in the brain and the underlying neurocognitive mechanisms that support it. The purpose of this paper is to neurobiologically examine how individual or collective reflection impacts leaders' frontal lobe brain activities during challenging situations, incorporating electroencephalography (EEG) as a method. Over the past twenty-five years, or so, considerable advances have been made in understanding how learning occurs in the brain, though much of this research is still to make its way into education. One contribution it should be making is to furnish the philosophical critique of past and current theory with supporting empirical evidence. For example, motivation theory and its cognate expectancy-value theory continue to be taught in teacher education, even though their rational cognitivist foundations are philosophically shaky, and their shared representational notion of the mind is incompatible with what is now known about the learning brain. Furthermore, the central claim of motivation theory that children need to be motivated in order to learn is educationally problematic, not least because it incorporates a deficit model of the child as learner. This paper provides a philosophical and educational critique of motivation and expectancy-value theories and begins to sketch out an alternative dynamic systems (complexity-theory) approach, which argues that value is deeply embedded in the learning process, not only in the value students may or may not attach to their learning, but also neurobiologically. In opposition to motivation and its notion of the learner this paper argues that every student is equipped with a brain that is value-orientated towards learning and will learn, when nested in suitably affordant learning environments. In place of expectancy-value, we argue for value-embedded learning (VEL), which provides a non-reductive and biologically plausible account of how value and emotional salience are dynamically interwoven in the learning process. The interest to connect results of neuroscientific research to educational contexts has increasingly grown in recent years. Actors from neuroscience and education show the explicit intention to approach each other. Still, issues and debates exist in the relation between them. This paper aims to bring to the fore one such specific issue that is not only relevant to be mindful of, but also raises questions of an organisational and pedagogical nature. The issue concerns the possible occurrences of conceptual confusion on the bridge from neuroscience to education. I present this paper as a thought experiment that hopes to make public not only the respective issue, but also some of its related questions, such as 'neuroprofessionalisation' and 'relevant knowledge for educational actors'. There has been a renewed interest in the clinical applications of psychedelics, with increasing use for a variety of psychiatric conditions. Individuals often describe psychedelic sessions as among the most significant experiences in their lives, emphasising the sense of awe, connectedness, and spiritual transformation they undergo. They can also feel they are experiencing truth and becoming aware of reality in deeper ways than ever before. As elusive as it is inescapable, Wilfred Bion’s ‘O’ denotes contact with absolute truth, approachable through an intuitive awareness of reality that goes beyond cognitive strategies seeking to ‘know’. The state of mind cultivated to enter into such realms, to reach O, and indeed to achieve mystical experiences under psychedelics, is one of surrender and transcendence of a cognitively weighted, sensorially bound interfacing with reality. This paper outlines the neurophenomenology of psychedelic use, the concept of O, and their clinical significance vis-à-vis contemporary psychodynamic thinking. As our understanding deepens regarding the changes associated with use of psychedelics, we can draw parallels between acquisition of insight and subsequent reshaping of one’s templates and perspectives taking place through use of these drugs, and the process that occurs over the course of a psychoanalysis or psychodynamic therapy. Introduction: Individuals with bipolar disorder (BD) have higher rates of unhealthy lifestyles and risk for medical comorbidities Research currently suggests that dietary factors may play a role in the development of depression and anxiety. Therefore, nutritional approaches are potential strategies for the treatment of BD. The aim of this review is to summarize the available evidence on nutrition and BD. Materials and Methods: The paper was developed based on PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The search was conducted in Sep-2021 using PubMed and Cochrane Library, augmented by manually checked references lists. The search found 986 studies, of which 47 were included, combined with 13 from reference lists, totaling 60 studies. Results: There were 33 observational trials, of which 15 focused on fatty acids, 9 on micronutrients, 5 on specific foods, 4 on macro and micronutrients. The 27 interventional studies mainly focused on fatty acids, micronutrients and N-acetylcysteine (NAC). Discussion: Dietary intake or supplementation of unsaturated fatty acids, mainly Omega-3 seems to be associated with improved BD symptoms, along with seafood, folic acid and zinc. Studies found variable, mainly non-significant impacts of creatine, carnitine, vitamin D, inositol or NAC supplementation on BD. There are promising results associated with Coenzyme Q10 (Coq10) and probiotics. Taken together, these preliminary findings suggest that dietetic approaches might be included as part of BD treatment. Also considering the high risk of metabolic disorders in individuals with BD, they should be encouraged to choose healthy dietary lifestyles, including daily intake of fruits, vegetables, seafood and whole grains. There is emergent literature that converges from neuroscience and entrepreneurship research, but the definitions and interlinkages are still inconsistent. We conduct a systematic literature review of 167 papers on the interface between neuroscience and entrepreneurship to address this. We observe the literature trends examining the interlinkages between neuroscience and entrepreneurial intention through six antecedents, namely - molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, social neuroscience, and computational neuroscience. Our findings suggest that entrepreneurial intention impacts entrepreneurial activity through five factors, including (1) opportunity recognition, (2) evaluation and risk-taking, (3) entrepreneurial cognition, (4) entrepreneurial behavior, and (5) entrepreneurial decision-making. From our discussions, the links among the neural factors affecting entrepreneurship are identified, and a research agenda highlighting a pathway for future studies is proposed. Coupling "know thyself" with anatomical illustrations produced a spatialized understanding of the self, providing preconditions for "brainhood," the view that "we are our brains." To picture oneself, whether in anatomical illustrations or neuroimaging, is to know thyself. This paper traces the historical development of the conflation of self-image and self-knowledge. First, I explore the Renaissance development of linear perspective. Second, I look at how the soul becomes spatialized in psychology as a science of the soul and its relationship to anatomical dissection. Third, I investigate the innovation of anatomical illustration and how it intersects with Renaissance visual culture. Finally, I show how these varied developments manifest "know thyself" in anatomical illustrations and its significance for how we see ourselves. In recent years, neuroscience and brain-based approaches to education have started to feature prominently in the rationale for radical educational reform, both in terms of policy and practice. Revelations about what way the brain works, it seems, is a common point of interest for neuroscience and education alike. Out of these common interests there are now entire disciplines in their own right, such as 'mind, brain and education' and 'neuroeducation', which are collaborative disciplines formed at the boundaries of common points of interest between the brain sciences in general and education. This paper seeks to examine the credibility of the science inherent in this collaboration, with a particular example found in the guise of the Revised Northern Ireland Curriculum, devised and implemented from 2003 onwards by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA). Urban built environments can influence human cognitive and emotional comforts. Human comfort in the built environment has challenged architects and urban designers while developing comfortable spaces. Emerging cognitive-architectural studies in architecture engineering inform new directions for improvising human spatial design practices. This paper intends to present a systematic meta-analysis of selected empirical studies to identify the gaps and future scope of research in human cognition and built environments. However, the scope of the literature review is to concentrate on experiments that consider physiological reading in different environments, such as nature and architectural spaces in cognitive study areas. The peer-reviewed literature published from 2010 to 2021 illustrates that only limited design parameters are considered in these experiments. The study analyses the extensive consideration of experimental medium, simulation categories, and participant factors like gender and age in this research domain. Few studies have investigated brain responses to different art media. Investigations into brain processes during art making have highlighted important structures. Neuroimaging tools have been used to investigate activation of brain areas whilst artmaking, but not in a therapeutic setting. This review highlights recent advancements in this area and encourages researchers to be the first to apply this in the UK. To understand how the principles of neuroscience are currently informing the literature to explain the effects of art media in art therapy practice. Review of published peer-reviewed research between years 2000 and 2020 on neuroscience and art therapy. Findings were summarised into categories discussing psychological/neurobiological issues, art media, neuroimaging technology, and models posited. Forty-six studies were found; majority discussed the structure and function of the brain to explain art therapy processes. The Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC) model theorised that media properties stimulate different levels of visual and cognitive processing. The novel Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI) neuroimaging technology may be used as a means of quantifying data. Significant progress has been made in attempting to explain brain responses during the art therapy process. However empirical data is needed to prove theoretical models. The use of neuroimaging has started this process to lead research into evidence-based practice. Evidencing the ground-breaking ETC model, using neuroimaging and MoBI technology is needed through close collaboration between transdisciplinary departments. Art therapists should be encouraged to use the ETC to inform art therapy assessment, planning and treatment. Neuroscience is the study of the brain and its processes, and recently technology has been available to researchers to examine brain processes in detail. This systematic narrative review explores recent literature that uses the principles of neuroscience to investigate the effects of art therapy, with a specific interest in art media. A systematic narrative review is when the findings of the study rely on the use of words to summarise the data. Art media is an important part of art therapy, as it is through artistic expressions that the client communicates their inner troubles. Different art media has been shown to elicit different feelings and behavioural responses in clients. However, research showing brain responses to different art media is limited. This study highlights ways in which further research in this field can take place. Results show that significant advancements have already been made that identify important structures and functions of the brain accessed during art therapy. Important models which incorporate neuroscience principles and theorise the art therapy process are highlighted. A significant model is the Expressive Therapies Continuum. This model explains how the brain processes information when different art media is used. However empirical data is needed to substantiate the theory behind this model. The use of neuroimaging technology is one way to achieve this. This paper summarises my current understanding of relevant neuroscience and trauma therapy concepts, and discusses the implications for psychoanalytic psychotherapy with traumatised patients. It also explores the new social constructivist theory of 'How emotions are made' which has deep resonances with the psychoanalytic theory of thinking. These bio-psycho-social models and ideas challenge our existing traditional techniques and ways of working with trauma, and places the necessity of addressing body states at the forefront of our work. This paper builds upon previous cybernetics scholarship to explore the neuroscience in The Crying of Lot 49, focusing on the neuronal action potential. In 1952, the cybernetics-influenced action potential was elucidated, a process which decreases entropy through feedback loops to transmit information. Lot 49 exemplifies what happens when the action potential stops properly communicating. This communication failure occurs because the clues that the protagonist Oedipa associates with the Tristero organization increase information entropy, which breaks her neuronal feedback loops and subsequently increases the thermodynamic and informatic entropy of her nervous system. Oedipa drinks alcohol in an attempt to combat the Tristero's entropic effects on herself, but the attempt backfires as the entropy of her nervous system continues to increase and culminates in seizures. Oedipa believes her seizures are divine interventions that provide energy despite the fact that they derive from all the Tristero information saturating her. This misguided belief overtakes Oedipa because the type of epilepsy she suffers from is temporal lobe epilepsy, whose seizures symptomatically impart consciousness loss, amnesia, and religious hallucinations to mask their entropy. Consequently, Lot 49 captures the blossoming of modern neuroscience from cybernetics in the mid-20th century by intertwining neuroscience with its themes of entropy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Research in disparate fields of education, psychology and neuroscience suggests that emotions play a central role in learning. We critically examine research at the intersection of emotions, adult learning and neuroscience. First, we review studies in the IJLE related to emotions and adult learning. In particular, we focus on the impact of an IJLE publication that argued using neuroscience research for the important role of emotions in transformative learning theory. We then highlight recent developments in neuroscience of emotions with links to transformative learning, before reflecting on ways to move forward by combining neuroscience research with transformative learning theory. Although there is a large potential overlap between neuroscience and architecture, the studies bridging these fields are rare and newly emerging. Moreover, a gap is observed between the constructs, terminologies and research methods of architecture and neuroscience. In order to alleviate these problems, this study investigates main research themes and developments in spatial cognition research over the past two decades on the basis of the author keywords of published articles. Vosviewer© bibliometric analysis software was utilized to conduct keyword co-occurrence analysis, keyword clustering, and timeline analysis of keywords and current research on spatial cognition is discussed accordingly. The paper also reviews existing research at the intersection of neuroscience and architecture and comments on how this nexus could evolve in the future. In the article 'Towards new human rights in the age of neuroscience and neurotechnology', published in 2017, Ienca and Andorno review the current stage of neuroscience and neurotechnology development, proposing four new human rights that shall protect the individual from the dangers arising from said development. The authors accept the idea of infiltration into our interior castle -- the mind -- requiring only the proper level of protection against the described probable misuse of techniques, especially their use against the individual's will. Although their proposal seems a needed addition to the human rights system, it raises doubts as to the very definition of human it was designed to protect. Is the whole concept of the technical infiltration of the brain to alter the mind processes reconcilable with human freedom, especially with freedom of thought, conscience, and religion? In the article, the authors deliberate the inadequacy of two visions of human: the one that was the foundation of the human rights system and another emerging from Ienca and Andorno's article. Recent decades have generated a proliferation of research into the phenomenon known as mindfulness. This literature gives voice and speech researchers an opportunity to reconceptualize and assess their practices. Voice and Speech Training (VST) for actors shares certain techniques and attitudes in common with mindfulness. Thus, it is plausible that these two practices rely on similar psychological and neurological mechanisms and may produce similar benefits. We provide an interdisciplinary review of the contemporary literature regarding vocal production, VST practices, mindfulness, and meditation, highlighting conceptual and practical connections between them. We propose that attention is a common mechanism that unifies VST practices and mindfulness. We provide an overview of how attention and mindfulness meditation have been conceptualized and summarize recent empirical studies on their possible relationship. Finally, we suggest future directions for how interdisciplinary research teams might investigate the relationship between VST, mindfulness, and attention, and bring empirical methodologies to bear on questions of artistic significance. The development and use of advanced and innovative neuroscience, neurotechnology and some forms of artificial intelligence have exposed potential threats to the human condition, including human rights. As a result, reconceptualizing or creating human rights (i.e. neurorights) has been proposed to address specific brain and mind issues like free will, personal identity and cognitive liberty. However, perceptions, interpretations and meanings of these issues—and of neurorights—may vary between countries, contexts and cultures, all relevant for an international-consensus definition and implementation of neurorights. Thus, we encourage reflecting on the proactive inclusion of transnational, cross-cultural and contextual considerations and concerns to contribute to the global discourse. This inclusion does not mean endorsing ethical relativism but rather a call to foster a universal understanding of key concepts and concerns. Including contextual and cultural perspectives may truly anticipate global concerns which could be addressed while developing and implementing neurorights. Consequently, any ethical and/or legal regulatory framework(s) for the translational and transnational use of advanced neuroscience, neurotechnology and some forms of artificial intelligence intended to protect and safeguard human dignity should be contextually and culturally mindful, responsible, respectful and inclusive of not only human rights and fundamental freedoms but also of neurocognitive cultural diversity. Preventive turn in criminal law has been an important discussion topic in recent years. In many significant scholarly contributions, the nature of criminal justice system has been seen to be in transition from reactive measures to various preventive measures and from rights-based approach to more effective measures. Also various legislative examples from many countries illustrate that many other, often also dubious, means than criminal law are used in preventing unwanted behaviour. This development conceivably affects the foundations of the criminal justice system since the state's response to unwanted behaviour may be founded on different objectives than criminal justice system traditionally has endorsed. The concept of preventive turn of criminal law is, however, somewhat loose and ambiguous and it has been given different meaning in scholarly discussion. In this article, the concept of preventive turn of criminal law is examined in light of the different meanings given to it in the scholarly discussion. In addition, article discusses administrative sanctioning as an alternative to criminal legislation and legislative and other endeavours to recidivism of dangerous offenders. The article is founded on liberal model of criminal law, which has stressed the role of individual autonomy and dignity and also the importance of procedural safeguards. The examples of preventive turn may risk these traditional liberal foundations of criminal justice system when the states are searching for more effective means in preventing unwanted behaviour. Traditional liberal foundations of the criminal justice system may be at risk when more effective solutions are sought. This article, thus, also seeks to examine whether it is possible to construct a rights-based liberal approach towards preventive turn of criminal law in which the liberal foundations of criminal law are proportioned to preventive measures. Storytelling increasingly forms part of many brands' strategic endeavorsin pursuance of brand resonance. Although previous studieshave focused on the elements and consequences of brand story construction, the role of plot in brand story construction, and its ability to elicit subconscious emotions among consumers, remain underexplored. Further, previous studies primarily used self-reported measures to assess consumers' emotional responses to storytelling advertisements, which are associated with measurement error. This study explores the role of plot inbrand story construction from a neurophysiological perspective. Drawing on dramatic theory, this study uses Freytag's five-part Pyramid plot structure to analyze neurophysiological responses (skin conductance level, electro-encephalography, electromyography) and eye-tracking data in response to a dramatic video storytelling advertisement. The results indicate that while the intensity of subconscious emotions elicited by the advertisement resemble a pyramid-like structure similar to Freytag's structure, there is evidence of fluctuating valence. Further, the results indicate that subconscious emotions are indeed transferred to the brand shown in the advertisement, implying that brand managers should think carefully about the type of emotional reaction their brand stories should elicit. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many types of disruptions from mild inconveniences to deaths. These disruptions have resulted in a host of stress responses among children and adolescents. Small group work is one way that helpers in schools and agencies can address developmental and diagnostic issues that arise. Neuroscience informs counselors understanding of stress responses and reactions in children and adolescents, as well as aids in generating activities and activating group therapeutic factors. Research suggests that people tend to overweight arguments accompanied by neuroscientific terminology, which is dubbed as the seductive allure of neuroscience explanations (SANE) in the literature. Such an effect might be of particular significance when it comes to physicians and mental health professionals (MHP), given that it has the potential to cause significant bias in their understanding as well as their treatment approaches toward psychiatric symptoms. In this study, we aimed to test the SANE effect among Turkish medical students, and assess its uniqueness by comparing it with a discipline that still maintains an important role in contemporary psychiatric training in Turkey: psychoanalysis. 109 medical students with a basic level of knowledge of psychiatry and clinical neuroscience were asked to rate the credibility of explanations of differing quality (good vs. circular) for psychological phenomena, followed by three types of information: none, neuroscientific (SNI) or psychoanalytical (SPI). Our findings showed that SNI significantly increased the judged quality of explanations for both conditions with the effect being more prominent for circular explanations. On the other hand, SPI had no effect on good explanations but enhanced the judged quality of circular explanations in a level comparable to that of SNI. For the first time, the SANE effect was replicated among medical students and provided preliminary data in favor of a similar effect for psychoanalytically oriented information. Some of the most compelling contemporary ethical questions surround 21st Century neuroscientific technologies. Among these, neurocognitive intervention technologies allow an unprecedented ability to alter thought. Concerns exist about their impact on individual freedom, behavior and personhood. They could also distort society, eroding core values of dignity, equality, and diversity. Potent laws are needed to anchor regulation in this rising field. The article explores how the long-neglected human right of Freedom of Thought might protect the integrity of the mind at the legal system's highest level. To assess if Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE) delivered to older adults can positively influence pain knowledge and pain beliefs. A total of 55 older adults attended a 30-minute PNE lecture. The primary outcome measures of pain knowledge, fear avoidance, beliefs regarding pain and aging as well as self-reported pain were obtained both pre- and post-lecture. Significant improvement in knowledge was found with a mean score on the neurophysiology of pain questionnaire test improving by 11.07% from pre to post-test (p = 0.002). A greater shift in knowledge was observed in the older adult group (70 and above) compared to the younger group (50–69). A brief PNE lecture to older adults positively influences pain knowledge, and beliefs regarding pain and aging. This study indicates that PNE can be understood by older adults and may be a viable non-pharmacological treatment for older adults experiencing pain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Insights and technologies from neuroscience research can help accounting scholars more deeply understand how decision-makers physically and cognitively process and react to accounting information and controls. We conduct a systematic review of accounting literature to evaluate whether and how accounting scholars are incorporating neuroscience research into their work and building a field of 'neuroaccounting.' To do so, we identify literature that relates accounting research questions to neuroscience research, addresses accounting questions or tasks but has implications for neuroscience or neuroaccounting research, or investigates accounting questions using neuroscience technologies. We then classify that literature into two broad topic areas analogous to the decision-facilitating (how individuals process information) and decision-influencing (how individuals respond to controls) roles of accounting, and map relationships within each topic over time. We observe that literature in accounting is coalescing into a new field, neuroaccounting, in ways that mirror the pattern of development of a similar field, neuroeconomics – indicating that neuroaccounting is indeed taking a place on the stage of behavioral accounting research. Our review provides a framework for future research at the nexus of neuroscience and accounting that provides unique insights into the 'black box' of cognitive processing in accounting contexts. The practice of neuroscience-informed psychotherapy (NIP) that aims to refine the existing practice of psychotherapy is a recent topic in psychotherapy research. The researcher interviewed 25 Japanese psychotherapists and investigated the presence, benefits and needs of NIP and the potential barriers that may hinder the learning of NIP. A thematic analysis identified that the practice of NIP is currently limited in Japan due to limited learning opportunities. However, a minor proportion of Japanese psychotherapists practice NIP and experienced benefits, such as developing confidence in performing psychotherapy and effectively guiding clients to normalize problems. NIP may benefit psychotherapists in Japan and other Asian countries as psychotherapy in Japan and other Asian countries share many characteristics influenced by Confucianism, Buddhism and Westernization. Little is known about the integration of current neuroscience knowledge to classroom teaching, although many teachers rely on neuromyths to shape their pedagogies. Through a professional development approach, the learning study, we explored how teachers learned to apply neuroscience to teaching instruction. The teachers collaborated to design, enact and evaluate neuroscience-framed lessons as part of classroom research. Theories relating to neural plasticity, including the neural network hypothesis for memory and learning, hierarchical relational binding theory, and attention and awareness acted as the theoretical frame for the study. Borrowing phenomenographic methods, we drew on a variety of data sources to construct categories describing the teachers' engagement with neuroscience. Findings highlighted the pivotal role analogies played in the teachers' interpretation of neuroscience content and its application. Through the analogies of the 'rose', 'butcher on the bus', 'deepening the trenches', and 'walking the pathway', we illustrated how teacher learning manifested as the teachers' deepened understandings of knowledge construction, moving away from didactic forms of instruction and increasing the use of multiple modalities, and creating coherent student learning experiences. Findings suggest how neuroscience holds the potential to support teachers' development of theoretical coherence in their understandings of learning and pedagogy. Implications are discussed. This study examined cognition-immune interactions, specifically executive function, working memory, peripheral levels of tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and soluble tumour necrosis factor receptors-1 and −2 (sTNFR1 and 2) levels in bipolar disorder (BD) patients in comparison with controls. Thirty-one BD participants and twenty-seven controls participated in the study. The neurocognitive assessment was performed through three of CogState Research BatteryTM tasks for executive function and working memory. Plasma levels of TNF-α, sTNFR1, and sTNFR2 were measured after overnight fasting. Sociodemographic data and symptom severity of depression and mania were assessed. BD presented a significantly worse performance in the working memory task (p =.005) and higher levels of TNF-α (p =.043) in comparison to controls. A trend level of significance was found for sTNFR1 between groups (p =.082). Among BD participants, there were significant correlations between sTNFR2 and neurocognitive tasks (Groton Maze Learning Task: ρ =.54, p =.002; Set-Shifting Task: ρ =.37, p =.042; and the Two-Back Task: ρ = –.49, p =.005), and between sTNFR1 and mania, depression and anxiety symptoms (respectively ρ =.37, p =.038; ρ = –.38, p =.037; and ρ =.42, p =.002). TNF-α and its receptors might be an important variable in cognitive impairment in BD. Neuroscience is a combination of different scientific disciplines which investigate the nervous system for understanding of the biological basis. Recently, applications to the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's disease have become very promising by considering different statistical regression models. However, well-known statistical regression models may give misleading results for the diagnosis of the neurodegenerative diseases when experimental data contain outlier observations that lie an abnormal distance from the other observation. The main achievements of this study consist of a novel mathematics-supported approach beside statistical regression models to identify and treat the outlier observations without direct elimination for a great and emerging challenge in humankind, such as neurodegenerative diseases. By this approach, a new method named as CMTMSOM is proposed with the contributions of the powerful convex and continuous optimization techniques referred to as conic quadratic programing. This method, based on the mean-shift outlier regression model, is developed by combining robustness of M-estimation and stability of Tikhonov regularization. We apply our method and other parametric models on Parkinson telemonitoring dataset which is a real-world dataset in Neuroscience. Then, we compare these methods by using well-known method-free performance measures. The results indicate that the CMTMSOM method performs better than current parametric models. Constitutive panpsychism is the doctrine that macro-level consciousness—that is, consciousness of the sort possessed by certain composite things such as humans—is built out of irreducibly mental (or proto-mental) features had by some or all of the basic physical constituents of reality. On constitutive panpsychism, changes in macro-level consciousness amount to changes in either the way that micro-conscious entities 'bond' or the way that micro-conscious qualities 'blend' (or both). I pose the 'Selection Problem' for constitutive panpsychism—the problem of explaining how high-level functional states of the brain 'select' micro-conscious qualities for bonding or blending. Nowadays, chatbots is one of the fast rising artificial intelligence (AI) trend relates to the utilisation of applications that interact with users in a conversational format and mimic human conversation. Chatbots allow business to enhance customer experiences and fulfil expectations through real-time interactions in e-commerce environment. Therefore, factors influence consumer's trust in chatbots is critical. This study demonstrates a chatbots trust model to empirically investigate consumer's perception by questionnaire from self-reported approach and by electroencephalography (EEG) from neuroscience approach. This study starts from integrating three key elements of chatbots, in terms of machine communication quality aspect, human-computer interaction (HCI) aspect, and human use and gratification (U&G) aspects. Moreover, this study chooses EEG instrument to explore the relationship between trust and purchase intention in chatbots condition. We collect 204 questionnaires and invite 30 respondents to participate the survey. The results indicated that credibility, competence, anthropomorphism, social presence, and informativness have influence on consumer's trust in chatbots, in turn, have effect on purchase intention. Moreover, the findings show that the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the superior temporal gyrus are significantly associated with building a trust relationship by inferring chatbots to influence subsequent behaviour. This study reveals the importance of package design and brand in the choice of over-the-counter (OTC) analgesic. Various packages for analgesic products were tested on 40 respondents and autonomic body reactions were measured. The product tested was private Australian brands of Paracetamol from Coles and Woolworth, Priceline, a chemist brand, Herron a local brand and finally the well-known global brand Panadol. Eye tracking, facial expression analysis as well as Galvanic Skin response were found in strong correlation with respondent preference and purchasing intention. A heat map analysis for each package reveals that for most of the products the focus was not on the price. Time to First Fixation (TTFF) revealed that the eye fixation on price came last with the time spent looking at the price was low as compared to the time spent on the other areas of the packaging and this for both males and females. Software code, algorithms, data analytics and infrastructures have become inseparable from policy processes and modes of governance. This article introduces 'digital policy sociology' as a way of studying the role and influence of digital technologies in education policy. Building on existing 'policy sociology' approaches combined with emerging insights rom 'digital sociology', digital policy sociology extends the analytical gaze to new technical actors – nonhuman software and hardware, as well as human experts, technology companies, and promotional organizations. As a case study exemplar, the analysis focuses on an emerging domain of data-intensive science and technology with significant implications for education policy in the future. 'Precision education' is an emerging combination of psychological, neuroscientific and genetic expertise, with a particular emphasis on using advanced computational technologies to produce 'intimate data' about students' bodies and biological associations with learning.
