The uniformity of premium black in all viewing directions in organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) displays is regarded as an important element for consumers and the properly combination of polarizer and uneven panel can improve the uniformity of large viewing angles for OLED displays. In this paper, the pattern of ΔE change is investigated with the different polarizer fitting angle on watch panel. The results showed that the premium black in all viewing directions for watch can be achieved by utilizing 0° or 135° fitting angle of polarizer on different watch panel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the growing demand for high‐quality Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display, the design of screen structure by panel manufacturers needs to consider optical performance optimization carefully, such as Wide Angle Difference (WAD). The users hope that visual color bias of the OLED display on different angles appears as small as possible, and no red visual test will be particularly accepted. The OLED display panel is usually composed of Array substrates, OLED devices, Thin Film Encapsulation (TFE) layers, touch units, Polarizers and top cover plates. The touch units contain a metal mesh, which is distributed throughout the display screen and has a great impact on the optical performance of large viewing angles. Polarization manipulation is essential in photonic integrated circuits and has numerous applications in various fields, such as optical communication, nonlinear optics, and quantum optics. Advances in nanofabrication have enabled the integration of subwavelength‐structured metamaterials on optical waveguides, providing unprecedented optical manipulation capabilities beyond classical waveguide‐based architectures. In this paper, the polarization space is demonstrated to be fully manipulated by a dielectric metamaterial composed of nanoholes and nanoslots. This approach offers competitive performances for key polarization components, including the polarizer, polarization beam splitter, and polarization‐splitter‐rotator, while maintaining ultra‐compact coupling regions of 18×1 µm2, 16×1.1 µm2, and 13×1 µm2 respectively. The devices are designed by manipulating the phase and amplitude of all possible eigenmodes supported in the waveguide, which is inherently scalable and versatile for on‐chip mode and wavefront manipulation. The unique properties of metamaterials provide powerful tools for on‐chip polarization manipulation and offer new possibilities for the development of compact and high‐performance photonic integrated circuits. Based on the liquid crystal display technology, by studying the polarizer compensation function, color film and backlight matching, liquid crystal materials and process improvement, this paper realizes the functions of excellent image quality and fast response, including wide viewing angle, high contrast, high color gamut, so as to make the liquid crystal display benchmark and catch up with and surpass the OLED products. With the recent increase in OLED usage, the size and shape of devices are diversifying. In addition, portability is becoming more important along with product performance and improvement. In order to enhance portability, it is necessary to improve battery performance and increase the time available without charging. To this end, it is required to reduce display power consumption, and various methods and structures for reducing power consumption by improving the efficiency of many OLED products have been proposed. Most OLED displays have a polarizer film applied to secure black viewing in the off‐state. However, this reflectance‐reducing film has a transmittance 50% or less, thus the light extraction efficiency is very bad. This paper introduces a simulation‐based design methodology of a new display that is devoid of polarizer film. It required the task of obtaining high outdoor contrast by reducing reflectance of external light with improved light efficiency. By separating the panel structure and optimizing optical filters and OLED devices, reflection reduction, efficiency improvement, and viewing angle characteristics were secured at the same time. The simulation‐based optical design methodology is an important technology that can simultaneously optimize the optical characteristics of new type of display, and is expected to be applied to various product developments in the future. Recently, tunable color filters have been desirable for various applications such as tunable colored glasses, camouflage materials, smart labels, smart windows, and dynamic displays. An optical rotation‐based color tuning (ORCT) method is presented here, which is a cost‐effective and nondestructive way to provide a wide range of color tunability using a controlled cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) as a chiral photonic crystal and two polarizers. Moreover, the color range of the ORCT can be manipulated by engineered optical rotation of the CLC film, which is verified by numerical calculations and experiments. As a proof of concept, tunable color filters are demonstrated to attenuate unexpected light sources and provide better visibility. Infrared multiple‐angle incidence resolution spectrometry (IR‐MAIRS) is a recently developed spectroscopic technique that combines oblique incidence transmission measurements and chemometrics (multivariate analysis) to obtain both pure in‐plane (IP) and out‐of‐plane (OP) vibration spectra for a thin sample. IR‐MAIRS is established for analyzing the molecular orientation of organic thin films at atmospheric pressure, but it should also be powerful for the structural characterization of vapor‐deposited thin samples prepared in a vacuum. The application of IR‐MAIRS to vapor‐deposited amorphous water is particularly interesting in the fields of physical and interstellar chemistry, because it is a representative model material for interstellar icy dust grains. We recently developed an experimental setup for in situ IR‐MAIRS under low‐temperature, ultrahigh‐vacuum conditions, which thus facilitates measurements of interstellar ice analogs such as vapor‐deposited amorphous water. This review considers the theoretical framework of IR‐MAIRS and our recent experimental results for vapor‐deposited amorphous water. We present spectroscopic signatures for the perpendicular orientation of dangling‐OH bonds for three‐coordinated water molecules at the surface of amorphous water at 90 K. The absolute absorption cross section of the three‐coordinated dangling‐OH bonds is quantitatively measured as 1.0 ± 0.2 × 10−18 cm2 at 3696 cm−1. As IR‐MAIRS can essentially be conducted using only a Fourier‐transform IR spectrometer and an angle‐controllable linear polarizer, it is a useful, low‐cost, and simple spectroscopic technique for studying laboratory analogs of interstellar ices including vapor‐deposited amorphous water. Compared with intensity imaging, more inherent information of objects can be obtained by polarization and multispectral imaging. Here, a broadband and highly integrated single‐chip full Stokes polarization‐spectral (FSPS) imaging is demonstrated using all‐dielectric spatially multiplexed metalens (SMM) in the wavelength band from 1400 to 1700 nm. The proposed FSPS‐SMM is composed of three sets of off‐axis sub‐metalens simultaneously working for pairs of 0°/90°, 45°/135° linear polarization (LP), and left‐handed/right‐handed circular polarization (CP), respectively. Experimental results show that the optical resolution of each sub‐metalens of the fabricated FSPS‐SMM reaches the diffraction limit of the full‐aperture metalens although the area of each sub‐metalens is only 1/3 of the entire metalens, the averaged polarization extinction ratio of both LP and CP reaches 32.8:1, and the energy efficiency reaches 81.8% at the design wavelength and 60% averagely in the whole 300 nm bandwidth, which breaks the 50% limit of conventional polarizer‐based methods. Ligand‐induced chirality in colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals attracts attention because of their tunable chiroptical properties. Here, the induced chirality and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) are investigated as a function of the CdS shell growth in a range of 2D CdSe/CdS nanoplatelets (NPLs) capped with chiral ligands. Five samples of CdSe/CdS NPLs are synthesized by a one‐pot approach to vary the island‐like shell on a four‐monolayer (4 ML) CdSe NPLs core, which effectively reduces the interfacial strain energy. The successful preparation of L‐/D‐Cysteine‐capped CdSe/CdS NPLs with both tunable circular dichroism (CD) and CPL behaviors and a maximum anisotropic luminance factor (glum) of 5.29 × 10−4 is described. The induced chiroptical response shows a direct relationship with the formation of island‐like shell in the first and second stages and shows a clear signal evolution. In the third stage with a full coating shell, the CD and CPL signals are inversely proportional to the CdS shell thickness. The island‐like shell gives birth to the CPL signal, while the formation of full coating shell decreases the induced chirality. Such chiral and emissive NPLs provide an ideal platform for the rational design of semiconductor nanocrystals with chiroptical properties in areas of biomedicine, polarizers, and new generation of display devices. This study presents the development of ultra‐thin azo‐dye polarizers, notable for their minimal thickness (100‐200 nm) and superior optical performance, with polarization efficiency exceeding 99.9%, extinction ratios above 4000, transmittance over 45.3%, and dichoric ratio over 100. Utilizing cost‐effective solution‐processing methods, we fabricate these high‐performance polarizers and determine optimal experimental conditions for peak efficacy. Our research includes comprehensive Scanning Electron Microscopy analyses to understand the microstructural properties of these azo‐dye thin film polarizers, contributing significantly to the field of advanced display technologies. We have developed a new polarizer system named "Light Control Polarizer (LCP)" that has a shading effect comparable to that of light control films (LCF) while significantly improving on‐axis luminance loss. The LCP exhibits a louver effect of 1.4% at a 60° polar angle and 1.1% at a ‐60° polar angle in vertical direction, with a 20% increase in on‐axis luminance over LCF and a 12% increase in contrast ratio (CR). These characteristics allow the LCP to work as an alternative to LCF providing with effective light shielding in the vertical direction without sacrificing display luminance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For TFT‐LCD industries, polarizer films are essential components, which directly determine the image quality of panels. The market proposes new trends of thin thickness and large size for TFT‐LCD panels, including applying polarizer films. The technology of coating linear polarizer could readily realize these demands and own the potential of being directly fabricated on glass substrates. Herein, we study the preparation process of coating a polarizer on a PET substrate and aim to enhance the optical performance. The coated polarizer with the polarization degree of 99.9% was successfully fabricated and applied at the 32‐inch TFT‐LCD panels with the contrast ratio of 1200.
