Passive radiative cooling is a zero‐energy consumption approach, which can dissipate heat to outer space by emitting infrared radiation through the transparency window. Traditional cooling materials, such as photonic films, metafabrics, and polymer foams, still suffer from complex preparation processes and high costs. In this work, it is reported that natural cellulose can be converted into a “green” optical metamaterial by rational structure reconfiguration at the micro/nano level via scalable ball milling technology for efficient daytime radiative cooling. Specifically, fine‐tuning the shearing kinetics in the mechanochemistry process, cellulosic optical metamaterial (COM) with ≈98% solar reflectivity and ≈0.97 infrared emissivity has been successfully achieved, which can break through the theoretical value of photonic crystals as well as the conventional synthetic optical materials. The COMSOL simulation reveals that the excellent optical properties of the cellulose metamaterial are explained by the “confined scattering” effect caused by the rearranged heterostructure at the micro/nano level. Outdoor tests demonstrat that the COM‐based coating exhibits a daytime radiative cooling efficiency of 5.7 °C in hot Nanjing. Meanwhile, the COM can be produced into different scattering materials via spray coating, freeze casting, and solution casting technology. Cancer recurrence and metastasis after surgical resection is a vital reason of treatment failure. The modification of immune cells through implanted biomaterials is a promising postoperative immunotherapy. Herein, an injectable hydrogel scaffold loaded with engineered exosome mimetics that in vivo recruits and programs endogenous macrophages into M1 binding with anti‐CD47 antibody (M1‐aCD47 macrophages) for postoperative cancer immunotherapy is developed. Briefly, M1 macrophages‐derived exosome mimetics co‐modified with vesicular stomatitis virus glycoprotein (VSV‐G) and aCD47 (V‐M1EM‐aCD47) are encapsulated in injectable chitosan hydrogel. Such hydrogel recruits inherent macrophages in situ and releases V‐M1EM‐aCD47 that programs M2 to M1‐aCD47 macrophages. M1‐aCD47 macrophages own dual‐functions of tumor‐homing and enhanced phagocytosis. They can actively target to tumor cells for delivery of aCD47 that blocks the "don't eat me" signal, thereby promoting phagocytosis of macrophages to cancer cells. Furthermore, V‐M1EM‐aCD47 hydrogel implanted into resection site of 4T1 breast tumor inhibits tumor recurrence and metastasis by phagocytosis of M1‐aCD47 macrophages and T cell‐mediated immune responses. The findings demonstrate that biomaterials can be designed in vivo to program inherent macrophages, thereby activating the innate and adaptive immune systems for prevention of postoperative tumor recurrence and metastasis. Objective: The study aimed to examine the relationship between secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure and severe headaches or migraine in never‐smoking adults verified by serum cotinine. Background: Current evidence about the association between self‐reported SHS exposure and headaches or migraine is limited and contradictory. An important issue lies in the lack of actual SHS exposure assessment through biomarkers. Methods: We conducted a cross‐sectional study on 4560 never‐smoking adults from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 1999–2004. The SHS exposure was evaluated by measuring serum cotinine concentrations. The information regarding severe headaches or migraine was based on self‐reporting. Results: The overall prevalence rate of severe headaches or migraine was 20% (919/4560). After adjusting for relevant covariates, we found that heavy SHS exposure (serum cotinine at 1 to 10 ng/mL) was positively associated with severe headaches or migraine (OR: 2.02, 95% CI [1.19, 3.43]); however, no significant association was found between low SHS exposure (serum cotinine at 0.05 to 0.99 ng/mL) and severe headaches or migraine (OR: 1.15, 95% CI [0.91, 1.47]). Restricted cubic spline analysis showed that the natural logarithm of serum cotinine had a linear relationship with severe headaches or migraine (p = 0.335 for nonlinearity). Stratified analysis indicated that individuals with a BMI of <25 (p < 0.001 for interaction) and sedentary activity (p = 0.016 for interaction) modified the relationship between SHS exposure and severe headaches and migraine. Even after altering the definition of SHS exposure, excluding drugs that might affect the metabolism of serum cotinine, and multiple imputation, our sensitivity analysis results remained stable. Conclusions: The study demonstrated that heavy SHS exposure (serum cotinine at 1 to 10 ng/mL) had a significant positive association with severe headaches or migraine in never‐smoking adults. Vegetation growth is influenced by the microclimate driven by aspects, as evident in the asymmetric vegetation greenness on polar‐facing slopes (PFS) and equatorial‐facing slopes (EFS). However, it remains uncertain whether aspects influence vegetation phenology. To address this question, we defined the aspect‐induced phenological differences between PFS and EFS from 2019 to 2022 within each 3 × 3 km2 grid, using average phenological metrics extracted from Sentinel‐2 data. We found that the start of the growing season (SOS) occurs earlier on EFS in cold and humid regions, but in arid areas, PFS has an earlier SOS. The end of the growing season (EOS) consistently occurred later on EFS due to radiation limitations in autumn phenology. Employing the space‐for‐time approach, the observed distribution of phenological differences within the climate space could potentially indicate the phenological trends of different slope orientations in the future. Our study provides valuable insights into topographic regulation on vegetation phenology. Plain Language Summary: Equatorial‐facing slopes (EFS) receive more solar radiation than polar‐facing slopes (PFS), resulting in contrasting microclimate conditions. Specifically, EFS are warmer and drier, while PFS are colder and wetter. These microclimate differences contribute to variations in vegetation greenness between PFS and EFS. Based on this, we hypothesized that the phenology of grassland in the Three Rivers Source Region on the Tibetan Plateau is influenced by aspects. To test this hypothesis, we calculated the phenological differences between PFS and EFS within each 3 × 3 km2 grid using average phenological metrics derived from Sentinel‐2. Our findings reveal that, for the start of the growing season (SOS), EFS exhibited an earlier onset in regions with low temperature and high precipitation, whereas for regions with high temperature, the growing season starts earlier on PFS. In contrast, over 70% of the grassland area on EFS experiences a later end of the growing season (EOS) due to radiation being a major limiting factor of autumn phenology. In addition, we utilized the space‐for‐time approach to project potential future phenological changes on PFS and EFS. Our study enhances comprehension of vegetation ecological management and carbon sequestration in mountainous areas. Objective: Despite the benefits, the rate of genetic testing among first‐degree relatives (FDRs; parents, children, and siblings) remains low, and the barriers to undergoing testing among FDRs in China are not clear. We explored the reasons why FDRs refused genetic testing. Methods: Semi‐structured face‐to‐face interviews were conducted with 22 patients and 27 FDRs. Participants were recruited at an urban tertiary hospital in Guangzhou, South China. We used qualitative content analysis to analyse the transcripts of audio recordings and identify major themes and subthemes. Results: Three major themes emerged related to FDRs' low rate of participation in genetic testing. First, there is cognitive distance from genetic testing/cancer and a lack of knowledge of preventive medicine that deepens the 'fatalistic' attitude towards cancer among FDRs, which leads to an enormous gap between their knowledge and understanding of genetic testing. Second, medical consultation is not valued in Confucianism, and the view of cancer as 'bad news' and the risk of cancer as a curse makes cancer a metaphor, which leads to exhausting arguments when persuading FDRs to undergo genetic testing. Third, physical distance from the hospital, loss of privacy, possible discrimination in many social activities and genetic testing as a source of stress and anxiety lead FDRs to fear the disruption of their daily lives. Conclusions: There are many barriers to genetic testing among the FDRs of hereditary cancer patients originating from the national social and cultural context. Healthcare professionals should develop interventions rooted in culture and promote cancer risk communication between hereditary cancer patients and FDRs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND The application of Pickering emulsions stabilized by food‐derived particles is of great interest, studies have focused on development of natural functional emulsifiers from agricultural byproducts. Dietary fiber (DF) has been recognizing for its excellent physiological functions. Moreover, physicochemical properties of pomelo peel DF (PDF) make it a potential emulsifier. However, pristine PDF is not suitable as emulsifier due to its compact physical structure and high hydrophobicity, which seriously limits its utilization. The objective of the study was to investigate the effects of cellulase on physicochemical properties of PDF and to illustrate the feasibility of cellulase modified PDF (MPDF) as natural functional emulsifier. RESULTS: Cellulase modification significantly improved (P < 0.05) specific surface area, water‐holding capacity/oil‐holding capacity, viscoelasticity, hydrophobicity, and pore structure while decreased crystallinity index and particle size of PDF. Emulsion could remain stable over 30 days as MPDF concentrations up to 1 wt% and oil/water ratio 3:7. The appearance stability of emulsions was not influenced by temperature (4–60 °C), pH (3.0–12.0), and ion concentration (0–200 mmol L−1) which was similar to Pickering emulsions. The mechanism of MPDF as an emulsifier was mainly attributed to the combination of Pickering effect and the three‐dimensional network. In addition, MPDF showed higher antioxidant capacity in emulsions than other classical emulsifiers. CONCLUSION: The results illustrated that MPDF has a favorable feasibility for preparation of stable Pickering‐type emulsions, which will be a practical support for application of PDF as a natural functional emulsifier and will be helpful to realize the resource utilization of DF in pomelo industries. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of a simple and rapid separation and analysis method with high selectivity toward ciprofloxacin is of great importance for environmental protection. Herein, this paper reported a hollow magnetic zeolitic imidazolate framework‐67 based molecularly imprinted polymer for selective adsorption and enrichment of ciprofloxacin. The morphology and structural properties of the hollow magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetry, and the results showed that the material has an obvious hollow structure, good thermal stability, and magnetic properties. The hollow magnetic imprinted polymer has a higher adsorption capacity (75.59 mg/g) and shorter adsorption saturation time (50 min) toward ciprofloxacin. Moreover, the hollow magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer showed excellent adsorption ability, stability, and repeatability. The hollow magnetic imprinted polymer was used to detect trace ciprofloxacin in actual samples (river water, human urine, chicken) successfully with the recoveries of 91.4–100.4%. With the advantages of high recovery (91.4–100.4%), high speed (50 min), and high selectivity (selectivity factor > 2.50), the hollow magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer has broad application prospects in the efficient adsorption of ciprofloxacin. BACKGROUND Tannase is an enzyme produced by microbial fermentation and is widely used in the food industry; however, the molecular mechanism of tannase production by Aspergillus has not yet been studied. This study was conducted to reveal the differences in Aspergillus carbonarius tannase enzymatic characterization, secondary structures and molecular mechanisms after treatment of the strain with atmospheric and room temperature plasma (ARTP). RESULTS: The results showed that the specific activity of tannase was improved by ARTP treatment, and it showed higher thermostability and tolerance to metal ions and additives. The enzymatic characterization and molecular docking results indicated that tannase had a higher affinity and catalytic rate with tannic acid as a substrate after ARTP treatment. In addition, the docking results indicated that Aspergillus tannases may catalyze tannic acid by forming two hydrogen‐bonding networks with neighboring residues. RNA‐seq analysis indicated that changes in steroid biosynthesis, glutathione metabolism, glycerolipid metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation pathway and mitogen‐activated protein kinase signaling pathways might be crucial reasons for the high production of tannase. CONCLUSION: ARTP enhanced the yield and properties of A. carbonarius tannase by changing the enzyme structure and cell metabolism.
