The research groups in computer vision, graphics, and machine learning have dedicated a substantial amount of attention to the areas of 3D object reconstruction, augmentation, and registration. Deep learning is the predominant method used in artificial intelligence for addressing computer vision challenges. However, deep learning on three-dimensional data presents distinct obstacles and is now in its nascent phase. There have been significant advancements in deep learning specifically for three-dimensional data, offering a range of ways to address these issues. This study offers a comprehensive examination of the latest advancements in deep learning methodologies. We examine many benchmark models for the tasks of 3D object registration, augmentation, and reconstruction. We thoroughly analyse their architectures, advantages, and constraints. In summary, this report provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in three-dimensional deep learning and highlights unresolved research areas that will need to be addressed in the future. Herein, the challenge of accurately classifying the manufacturing origin of printing paper, including continent, country, and specific product, was addressed. One-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D CNN) models trained on infrared (IR) spectrum data acquired from printing paper samples were used for the task. The preprocessing of the IR spectra through a second-derivative transformation and the restriction of the spectral range to 1800 to 1200 cm-1 improved the classification performance of the model. The outcomes were highly promising. Models trained on second-derivative IR spectra in the 1800 to 1200-cm-1 range exhibited perfect classification for the manufacturing continent and country, with an impressive F1 score of 0.980 for product classification. Notably, the developed 1D CNN model outperformed traditional machine learning classifiers, such as support vector machines and feed-forward neural networks. In addition, the application of data point attribution enhanced the transparency of the decision-making process of the model, offering insights into the spectral patterns that affect classification. In view of the problems of data sparsity and the diversity in academic paper recom-mender systems,based on CONVNCF, this paper proposed an algorithm of convolution with word and heterogeneous information network for academic paper recommendation ( WN -APR) . Firstly, WN -APR algorithm learned user and paper' s diverse features from different semantics to alleviate the sparsity problem. Then it designed an outer product fusing way to seamlessly combine user features with paper features. Replacing of 2D CNN, this algorithm applied 3 D convolution to mine the influence of different features on the performance. Finally, it modified the BPR loss function to enhance diversity in recommendations. Microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) have been widely used in point-of-care testing owing to their simple operation, low volume of the sample required, and the lack of the need for an external force. To obtain accurate semi-quantitative or quantitative results, μPADs need to respond to the challenges posed by differences in reaction conditions. In this paper, multi-layer μPADs are fabricated by the imprinting method for the colorimetric detection of C-reactive protein (CRP). Different lighting conditions and shooting angles of scenes are simulated in image acquisition, and the detection-related performance of μPADs is improved by using a machine learning algorithm. The You Only Look Once (YOLO) model is used to identify the areas of reaction in μPADs. This model can observe an image only once to predict the objects present in it and their locations. The YOLO model trained in this study was able to identify all the reaction areas quickly without incurring any error. These reaction areas were categorized by classification algorithms to determine the risk level of CRP concentration. Multi-layer perceptron, convolutional neural network, and residual network algorithms were used for the classification tasks, where the latter yielded the highest accuracy of 96%. We have developed a novel 3D asynchronous correlation method (3D-ACM) designed for the classification and identification of Chinese handmade paper samples using Raman spectra and machine learning. The 3D-ACM approach involves two rounds of tensor product and Hilbert transform operations. In the tensor product process, the outer product of the spectral data from different samples within the same category is computed, establishing inner connections among all samples within that category. The Hilbert transform introduces a 90-degree phase shift, resulting in a true three-dimensional spectral data structure. This expansion significantly increases the number of equivalent frequency points and samples within each category. This enhancement substantially boosts spectral resolution and reveals more hidden information within the spectral data. To maximize the potential of 3D-ACM, we employed six machine learning models: principal component analysis (PCA) with linear regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM) with LR, k-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), random forest (RF), and convolutional neural network (CNN). When applied to the 3D-ACM data preprocessing method, R-squared values of PLS-LR, KNN, RF and CNN supervised models, approached or equaled 1. This indicates exceptional performance comparable to unsupervised models like PCA. 3D-ACM stands as a versatile mathematical technique not confined to spectral data. It also eliminates the necessity for additional experimental setups or external control conditions, distinct from traditional two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy. This paper introduces a novel one-dimensional convolutional neural network that utilizes clinical data to accurately detect choledocholithiasis, where gallstones obstruct the common bile duct. Swift and precise detection of this condition is critical to preventing severe complications, such as biliary colic, jaundice, and pancreatitis. This cutting-edge model was rigorously compared with other machine learning methods commonly used in similar problems, such as logistic regression, linear discriminant analysis, and a state-of-the-art random forest, using a dataset derived from endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography scans performed at Olive View–University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. The one-dimensional convolutional neural network model demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving 90.77% accuracy and 92.86% specificity, with an area under the curve of 0.9270. While the paper acknowledges potential areas for improvement, it emphasizes the effectiveness of the one-dimensional convolutional neural network architecture. The paper focuses on two kinds of rotating machinery, miniature table drilling machine and automobile engine, as the research object. Traditional machine learning has the need for manual feature extraction, and is very dependent on expert diagnostic experience and expertise, but also has the disadvantages of low accuracy, low timeliness, low efficiency, etc. For the traditional rotating machinery fault diagnosis method is more based on the traditional machine learning model, this paper puts forward a one-dimensional convolutional neural network-based fault identification method. According to the characteristics of the miniature table drilling machine and the automobile engine which are not detachable, the corresponding faults are set up respectively, Vibration signals of the attitude sensor are obtained by using the signal collector, and the collected data are preprocessed, then the CNN model is built for fault identification, and the network structure is constantly optimized to obtain the optimal network model with high accuracy (up to 100 %) and robustness. With the continuous development of automotive intelligence, vehicle occupant detection technology has received increasing attention. Despite various types of research in this field, a simple, reliable, and highly private detection method is lacking. This paper proposes a method for vehicle occupant detection using millimeter-wave radar. Specifically, the paper outlines the system design for vehicle occupant detection using millimeter-wave radar. By collecting the raw signals of FMCW radar and applying Range-FFT and DoA estimation algorithms, a range–azimuth heatmap was generated, visually depicting the current status of people inside the vehicle. Furthermore, utilizing the collected range–azimuth heatmap of passengers, this paper integrates the Faster R-CNN deep learning networks with radar signal processing to identify passenger information. Finally, to test the performance of the detection method proposed in this article, an experimental verification was conducted in a car and the results were compared with those of traditional machine learning algorithms. Incorporating style-related objectives into shape design has been centrally important to maximize product appeal. However, algorithmic style capture and reuse have not fully benefited from automated data-driven methodologies due to the challenging nature of design describability. This paper proposes an AI-driven method to fully automate the discovery of brand-related features. First, to tackle the scarcity of vectorized product images, this research proposes two data acquisition workflows: parametric modeling from small curve-based datasets, and vectorization from large pixel-based datasets. Second, this study constructs BIGNet, a two-tier Brand Identification Graph Neural Network, to learn from both scalar vector graphics' curve-level and chunk-level parameters. In the first case study, BIGNet not only classifies phone brands but also captures brand-related features across multiple scales, such as lens' location, as confirmed by AI evaluation. In the second study, this paper showcases the generalizability of BIGNet learning from a vectorized car image dataset and validates the consistency and robustness of its predictions given four scenarios. The results match the difference commonly observed in luxury versus economy brands in the automobile market. Finally, this paper also visualizes the activation maps generated from a convolutional neural network and shows BIGNet's advantage of being a more explainable style-capturing agent. This paper investigates a method for precise mapping of human arm movements using sEMG signals. A multi-channel approach captures the sEMG signals, which, combined with the accurately calculated joint angles from an Inertial Measurement Unit, allows for action recognition and mapping through deep learning algorithms. Firstly, signal acquisition and processing were carried out, which involved acquiring data from various movements (hand gestures, single-degree-of-freedom joint movements, and continuous joint actions) and sensor placement. Then, interference signals were filtered out through filters, and the signals were preprocessed using normalization and moving averages to obtain sEMG signals with obvious features. Additionally, this paper constructs a hybrid network model, combining Convolutional Neural Networks and Artificial Neural Networks, and employs a multi-feature fusion algorithm to enhance the accuracy of gesture recognition. Furthermore, a nonlinear fitting between sEMG signals and joint angles was established based on a backpropagation neural network, incorporating momentum term and adaptive learning rate adjustments. Finally, based on the gesture recognition and joint angle prediction model, prosthetic arm control experiments were conducted, achieving highly accurate arm movement prediction and execution. This paper not only validates the potential application of sEMG signals in the precise control of robotic arms but also lays a solid foundation for the development of more intuitive and responsive prostheses and assistive devices. Skeleton-based action recognition is an important but challenging task in the study of video understanding and human-computer interaction. However, existing methods suffer from two deficiencies. On the one hand, most methods usually involve manually designed convolution kernel which cannot capture spatial-temporal joint dependencies of complex regions. On the other hand, some methods just use the self-attention mechanism, ignoring its theoretical explanation. In this paper, we proposed a unified spatio-temporal graph convolutional network with a self-attention mechanism (SA-GCN) for low-quality motion video data with fixed viewing angle. SA-GCN can extract features efficiently by learning weights between joint points of different scales. Specifically, the proposed self-attention mechanism is end-to-end with mapping strategy for different nodes, which not only characterizes the multi-scale dependencies of joints, but also integrates the structural features of the graph and an ability of self-learning fusion features. Moreover, the attention mechanism proposed in this paper can be theoretically explained by GCN to some extent, which is usually not considered in most existing models. Extensive experiments on two widely used datasets, NTU-60 RGB+D and NTU-120 RGB+D, demonstrated that SA-GCN significantly outperforms a series of existing mainstream approaches in terms of accuracy. Fault detection in transmission lines plays an important role in maintaining the dependability and steadiness of power networks. Traditional methods for identifying faults often struggle to handle the diverse nature of real-world fault situations. Machine learning (ML) algorithms offer a data-centered approach that can adjust and learn from datasets, potentially overcoming the limitations of traditional approaches. This paper presents a review of progress in using ML for detecting faults in transmission lines. By drawing insights from lots of studies, explores the paper how ML algorithms have evolved in fault detection, including techniques like networks, recurrent neural networks featuring long short-term memory (LSTM) and convolutional neural networks (CNN). The paper delves into the spectrum of applications where ML is used for fault detection across fault scenarios and operational settings. Additionally, it discuss the obstacles and prospects linked to putting ML-based fault detection systems into practice, such as challenges with data quality, model interpretability and integration with existing grid monitoring systems. Finally, the paper outlines future research paths focused on pushing forward the boundaries of fault detection in power transmission systems through approaches and collaborative endeavors involving academia, industry players and policymakers. The increasing availability of hydrological and physiographic spatiotemporal data has boosted machine learning's role in rapid flood mapping. Yet, data scarcity, especially high-resolution DEMs, challenges regions with limited access. This paper examines how DEM type and resolution affect flood prediction accuracy, utilizing a cutting-edge deep learning (DL) method called 1D convolutional neural network (CNN). It utilizes synthetic hydrographs as training input and water depth data obtained from LISFLOOD-FP, a 2D hydrodynamic model, as target data. This study investigates digital surface models (DSMs) and digital terrain models (DTMs) derived from a 1 m LIDAR-based DTM, with resolutions from 15 to 30 m. The methodology is applied and assessed in a established benchmark, city of Carlisle, UK. The models' performance is then evaluated and compared against an observed flood event using RMSE, Bias, and Fit indices. Leveraging the insights gained from this region, the paper discusses the applicability of the methodology to address the challenges encountered in a data-scarce flood-prone region, exemplified by Pakistan. Results indicated that utilizing a 30 m DTM outperformed a 30 m DSM in terms of flood depth prediction accuracy by about 21% during the flood peak stage, highlighting the superior performance of DTM at lower resolutions. Increasing the resolution of DTM to 15 m resulted in a minimum 50% increase in RMSE and a 20% increase in fit index across all flood stages. The findings emphasize that while a coarser resolution DEM may impact the accuracy of machine learning models, it remains a viable option for rapid flood prediction. Combining the advantages of quantum computing and machine learning, quantum machine learning is anticipated to advance the field of artificial intelligence further. Recent research has demonstrated, however, that the state-of-the-art quantum classifiers can be deceived by adversarial examples, leading to incorrect classifications by quantum models. This paper proposes the quantum fuzzy convolutional neural network, which is used to detect adversarial examples, by combining the benefits of fuzzy systems and the quantum convolutional neural network. This defensive strategy does not modify the structure and training process of the quantum classifier that requires protection. Simulation experiments show that the adversarial example detection approach proposed in this paper can successfully separate the real data distribution from the adversarial data distribution and detect the adversarial examples generated by a specific attack method on a specific quantum classifier. Recent research has revealed that subtle imperceptible perturbations can deceive well-trained neural network models, leading to inaccurate outcomes. These instances, known as adversarial examples, pose significant threats to the secure application of machine learning techniques in safety-critical systems. In this paper, we delve into the study of one-pixel attacks in deep neural networks, recently reported as a kind of adversarial examples. To identify such one-pixel attacks, most existing methodologies rely on the differential evolution method, which utilizes random selection from the current population to escape local optima. However, the differential evolution technique might waste search time and overlook good solutions if the number of iterations is insufficient. Hence, in this paper, we propose a gradient ascent with momentum approach to efficiently discover good solutions for the one-pixel attack problem. As our method takes a more direct route to the goal compared to existing methods relying on blind random walks, it can effectively identify one-pixel attacks. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) play a prominent role in solving problems in various domains such as pattern recognition, image tasks, and natural language processing. In recent years, neural architecture search (NAS), which is the automatic design of neural network architectures as an optimization algorithm, has become a popular method to design CNN architectures against some requirements associated with the network function. However, many NAS algorithms are characterised by a complex search space which can negatively affect the efficiency of the search process. In other words, the representation of the neural network architecture and thus the encoding of the resulting search space plays a fundamental role in the designed CNN performance. In this paper, to make the search process more effective, we propose a novel compact representation of the search space by identifying network blocks as elementary units. The study in this paper focuses on a popular CNN called DenseNet. To perform the NAS, we use an ad-hoc implementation of the particle swarm optimization indicated as PSO-CNN. In addition, to reduce size of the final model, we propose a segmentation method to cut the blocks. We also transfer the final model to different datasets, thus demonstrating that our proposed algorithm has good transferable performance. The proposed PSO-CNN is compared with 11 state-of-the-art algorithms on CIFAR10 and CIFAR100. Intelligent fault diagnosis utilizing deep learning algorithms is currently a topic of great interest. When developing a new Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architecture to address machine diagnosis problem, it is common to use a deep model, with many layers, many feature maps, and large kernels. These models are capable of learning complex relationships and can potentially achieve superior performance on test data. However, not only does a large network potentially impose undue computational complexity for training and eventual deployment, it may also lead to more brittleness—where data outside of the curated dataset used in CNN training and evaluation is poorly handled. Accordingly, this paper will investigate a methodical approach for identifying a quasi-optimal CNN architecture to maximize robustness when a model is trained under one set of operating conditions, and deployed under a different set of conditions. Optuna software will be used to optimize a baseline CNN model for robustness to different rotational speeds and bearing Model #'s. To further improve the network generalization capabilities, this paper proposes the addition of white Gaussian noise to the raw vibration training data. Results indicate that the number of trainable weights and associated multiplications in the optimized model were reduced by almost 95% without jeopardizing the network classification accuracy. For insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules using wire bonding as the interconnection method, the main failure mechanism is cracking of the bonded interface. Studying the mechanical properties of the bonded interface is crucial for assessing the reliability of IGBT modules. In this paper, first, shear tests are conducted on the bonded interface to test the bonded interface's strength. Then, finite element–cohesive zone modeling (FE-CZM) is established to describe the mechanical behavior of the bonded interface. A novel machine learning (ML) architecture integrating a convolutional neural network (CNN) and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network is used to identify the shape and parameters of the traction separation law (TSL) of the FE-CZM model accurately and efficiently. The CNN-LSTM architecture not only has excellent feature extraction and sequence-data-processing abilities but can also effectively address the long-term dependency problem. A total of 1800 sets of datasets are obtained based on numerical computations, and the CNN-LSTM architecture is trained with load–displacement (F–δ) curves as input parameters and TSL shapes and parameters as output parameters. The results show that the error rate of the model for TSL shape prediction is only 0.186%. The performance metric's mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) is less than 3.5044% for all the predictions of the TSL parameters. Compared with separate CNN and LSTM architectures, the proposed CNN-LSTM-architecture approach exhibits obvious advantages in recognizing TSL shapes and parameters. A combination of the FE-CZM and ML methods in this paper provides a promising and effective solution for identifying the mechanical parameters of the bonded interfaces of IGBT modules. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the utilization of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in learning models that address the nonlinear anisotropic flow and hysteresis retention behavior of deformable porous materials. Herein, the micro‐geometries of various networks of porous Bentheimer Sandstones subjected to several degrees of strain from the literature are considered. For the generation of the database required for the training, validation, and testing of the machine learning (ML) models, single‐phase and biphasic lattice Boltzmann (LB) simulations are performed. The anisotropic nature of the intrinsic permeability is investigated for the single‐phase LB simulations. Thereafter, the database contains the computed average fluid velocities versus the pressure gradients. In this database, the range of applied fluid pressure gradients includes Darcy as well as non‐Darcy flows. The generated output from the single‐phase flow simulations is implemented in a feed‐forward neural network, representing a path‐independent informed graph‐based model. Concerning the two‐phase LB simulations, the Shan‐Chen multiphase LB model is used to generate the retention curves of the cyclic drying/wetting processes in the deformed porous networks. Consequently, two different ML path‐dependent approaches, that is, 1D convolutional neural network and the recurrent neural network, are used to model the biphasic flow through the deformable porous materials. A comparison in terms of accuracy and speed of training between the two approaches is presented. Conclusively, the outcomes of the papers show the capability of the ML models in representing constitutive relations for permeability and hysteretic retention curves accurately and efficiently. Under the premise of ensuring the safe and stable operation of a wind–thermal–storage power system, this paper proposes an optimization model aimed at improving its overall economic efficiency and effectively reducing the peak-to-valley load difference. The model transforms the multi-objective optimization problem to solve a feasible interval of weight coefficients. We introduce a novel fusion model, where a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is melded with a Long Short-Term Memory Network (LSTM) to form the target network structure. Additionally, for datasets with limited samples, we incorporate a Self-Attention Mechanism (SAM) into the Model-Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML). Ultimately, we build an MAML-SAM-CNN-LSTM network model to solve the interval of weight coefficients. An arithmetic validation of a modified IEEE 30-node system demonstrates that the MAML-SAM-CNN-LSTM network proposed in this paper can adeptly solve the feasible intervals of weight coefficients in the optimization model of the wind-thermal storage system. This is achieved under the constraints of the specified wind-thermal storage power system operation indexes. The evaluation indexes of the network model, including its accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score, all exceed 98.72%, 98.57%, 98.30%, and 98.57%, respectively. This denotes a superior performance compared to the other three network models, offering an effective reference for optimizing decision-making and facilitating the enhanced realization of multi-objective, on-demand scheduling in the wind-thermal storage power system. Automated and accurate detection of power quality (PQ) events is important from the point of view of safety as well as maintaining the reliability of the power transmission and distribution network. However, detection of multiple PQ events in a noisy environment is challenging task. Another important issue is the choice of meaningful features that can directly influence the accuracy of PQ detection. Considering these two aforesaid facts, this paper presents a novel framework for automated classification of PQ signals in a noisy environment employing cross Stockwell Transform (XST). The XST proposed in this paper has better noise suppression capability compared to conventional Stockwell Transform. Here, XST was used to convert 1D PQ signals to 2D time–frequency (T–F) images. To improve the accuracy of PQ detection, an automated feature extraction method employing deep learning is implemented in this work. The noise free T–F images obtained using XST were fed as inputs to several pre-trained convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for deep feature extraction. Transfer learning technique was implemented to reduce the computational cost. The extracted deep features were further undergone selection using one-way analysis of variance test followed by false discovery rate correction. The statistically significant deep features were subsequently fed to three benchmark machine learning classifiers for classification of PQ signals. In addition, tests were also carried out on real-life PQ signals to verify the practicability of the proposed framework. The main purpose of this paper is to provide information on how to create a convolutional neural network (CNN) for extracting features from EEG signals. Our task was to understand the primary aspects of creating and fine-tuning CNNs for various application scenarios. We considered the characteristics of EEG signals, coupled with an exploration of various signal processing and data preparation techniques. These techniques include noise reduction, filtering, encoding, decoding, and dimension reduction, among others. In addition, we conduct an in-depth analysis of well-known CNN architectures, categorizing them into four distinct groups: standard implementation, recurrent convolutional, decoder architecture, and combined architecture. Inferring transient molecular structural dynamics from diffraction data is an ambiguous task that often requires different approximation methods. In this paper, we present an attempt to tackle this problem using machine learning. Although most recent applications of machine learning for the analysis of diffraction images apply only a single neural network to an experimental dataset and train it on the task of prediction, our approach utilizes an additional generator network trained on both synthetic and experimental data. Our network converts experimental data into idealized diffraction patterns from which information is extracted via a convolutional neural network trained on synthetic data only. We validate this approach on ultrafast electron diffraction data of bismuth samples undergoing thermalization upon excitation via 800 nm laser pulses. The network was able to predict transient temperatures with a deviation of less than 6% from analytically estimated values. Notably, this performance was achieved on a dataset of 408 images only. We believe that employing this network in experimental settings where high volumes of visual data are collected, such as beam lines, could provide insights into the structural dynamics of different samples. This paper presents a metallic object classification method using various electromagnetic pulses. Each electromagnetic pulse irradiated eight metallic objects placed at increasing distances from 10 mm to 40 mm relative to the electromagnetic sensing system. The electromagnetic sensing system consisted of two RL circuits placed in close proximity. Objects were classified using linear (perceptron and multiclass logistic regression) and non-linear (neural network, 1D convolutional neural network (CNN) and 2D CNN) machine learning classifiers. The machine learning classifiers were trained on experimental data collected in an electromagnetically shielded laboratory. A 10-fold cross-validation mean classification accuracy of 99.4 ± 0.3% for the 1D CNN classifier, and 92.9 ± 1.2% for the 2D CNN classifier, was achieved using a rectangular chirp electromagnetic pulse. The rectangular chirp pulse outperformed two-sided decaying exponential, Gaussian, triangular, raised cosine, and rectangular pulses. All pulses had equal energy. Automatic handwritten character recognition plays a significant role in various applications across multiple fields. With the growing interest in automatic handwriting recognition and the advancement of deep learning methods, researchers have achieved significant improvements in the development of English handwriting recognition methods. However, the recognition of Arabic handwriting has received insufficient attention. In this paper, a novel "DeepAHR" model is presented to accurately and efficiently recognize Arabic handwritten characters using deep learning techniques. The "DeepAHR" model is based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) and is trained using two recent public datasets: Hijaa and Arabic handwritten characters dataset (AHCD). The overall accuracies of the proposed model were 98.66% and 88.24% on the AHCD and Hijaa datasets, respectively.The experimental results showed that DeepAHR outperformed state-of-the-art methods in the literature. Lung cancer with the highest mortality rate has attracted public attention. For the difficulty of treating lung cancer increases sharply over time, detecting lung cancer symptoms early on chest computed tomography (CT) is crucial for the subsequent treatment. The number of slices can affect the accuracy of lung cancer examination, so a deep multiple instance learning algorithm was designed and proposed to classify lung cancer effectively. First, feature information is extracted in the patient 3D CT image using the high and low frequency high dimensional features (HLFHD) to balance local detail and global overall information of images. Secondly, to find the decisive features, a sliding recurrent neural network (MSRNN) module is used to take into account the feature variations between slices. The experimental studies in this paper were constructed on two public datasets, namely, CIA and CC-CCII data. Finally, the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve an ACC of 0.97 and an AUC of 0.99 on the datasets. These results suggest that the proposed algorithm is well suited for lung cancer classification of any number of CT slices, and it can be effectively employed in computer-aided systems to achieve state-of-the-art performance. The significant increase in online activities in the wake of recent global events has underlined the importance of biometric person authentication on digital platforms. Although many biometric devices may be used for precise biometric authentication, acquiring the necessary technology, such as 3D sensors or fingerprint scanners, can be prohibitively expensive and logistically challenging. Addressing the demands of online environments, where access to specialized hardware is limited, this paper introduces an innovative approach. In this work, by fusing static and dynamic signature data with facial data captured through regular computer cameras, a dataset of 1750 samples from 25 individuals is constructed. Deep learning models, including convolutional neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and temporal convolutional networks (TCN), are employed to craft a robust multi-classification model. Lung cancer is an uncontrolled growth of tissue causing a lump in the human lung. If lung cancer can be detected early, it can increase the survival rate. Therefore, a multi-classification approach of lung nodule detection with high computational effectiveness is required. In this paper, a multi-classification approach of lung nodule detection and classification is proposed using artificial intelligence on computed tomography (CT) scan images. Different preprocessing steps are applied for resizing, smoothing, and enhancement of the CT images. Then, two different approaches for feature extraction using VGG16 transfer learning and morphological segmentation are proposed. Morphological segmentation and feature extraction are applied for the segmentation of the region of interest and to extract the distinct features. Finally, the proposed deep learning architecture and seven different machine learning algorithms are applied on the preprocessed data and the extracted features for the classification of lung nodules into three classes: malignant, benign, and normal. It is observed that the stacked ensemble model of deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) and VGG16 transfer learning models (CNN+VGG16) can achieve 99.55% accuracy using preprocessed data. It is also observed that all the ML algorithms perform with reasonably high accuracy using the low-dimensional morphological features. It is observed from the fivefold cross-validation results that logistic regression performs with 99.36% accuracy in 23.71 s time using the preprocessed data. Whereas, using the morphological features, k-nearest neighbor, and the support vector machine perform with the highest accuracy of 99.76% with very reduced computational time of 0.017 and 0.008 s, respectively. Approach: The purpose of this study is to employ NLP‐based deep learning algorithms for text summary that perform well on linguistic text summarization data, and then modify/adapt these for biomedical domain‐specific text summarization. This paper provides an approach developed in‐house for condensing ill‐punctuated or unpunctuated discussion transcripts into more intelligible summaries, which combines topic modelling and phrase selection with punctuation restorations. For autonomous synthesis of medical reports from biomedical transcripts, this research proposes using an end‐to‐end summarization technique, Deep Dense Long Short Term Memory Network (LSTM), followed by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Results: Extensive testing, examination, and comparing have demonstrated that this summarizer works well for medical transcript summarization. The suggested approach achieved an average ROUGE score of 93.5% using a single document summary. Furthermore, by comparing new techniques to previous ones, the utility and accuracy of novel strategies would be shown. If priority is not given to these demands, then it may lead to customer dissatisfaction, inefficient planning, and software failure as well. Therefore, it is important to study the severity of the bug reports to maintain the efficiency of the software. Various research has been conducted in the past to predict the severity of the paper using text mining focusing only on the content of the bug reports. The sentiment of the user while reporting a bug also plays a vital role. In this study, we will be focusing on two aspects, that is, sentiment and content to improve the prediction. We propose a prediction model based on LDA to study the content aspect and emotion analysis to study the sentiment aspect. The model is validated on the datasets collected from the Eclipse project using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The results show that the CNN model effectively utilizes the content and sentiment aspect of the data to handle the severity prediction. CNN has weight sharing feature that decreases the number of parameters used for training. Deep learning has attained state-of-the-art results in general image segmentation problems; however, it requires a substantial number of annotated images to achieve the desired outcomes. In the medical field, the availability of annotated images is often limited. To address this challenge, few-shot learning techniques have been successfully adapted to rapidly generalize to new tasks with only a few samples, leveraging prior knowledge. In this paper, we employ a gradient-based method known as Model-Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML) for medical image segmentation. MAML is a meta-learning algorithm that quickly adapts to new tasks by updating a model's parameters based on a limited set of training samples. Additionally, we use an enhanced 3D U-Net as the foundational network for our models. The enhanced 3D U-Net is a convolutional neural network specifically designed for medical image segmentation. We evaluate our approach on the TotalSegmentator dataset, considering a few annotated images for four tasks: liver, spleen, right kidney, and left kidney. The results demonstrate that our approach facilitates rapid adaptation to new tasks using only a few annotated images. In 10-shot settings, our approach achieved mean dice coefficients of 93.70%, 85.98%, 81.20%, and 89.58% for liver, spleen, right kidney, and left kidney segmentation, respectively. In five-shot sittings, the approach attained mean Dice coefficients of 90.27%, 83.89%, 77.53%, and 87.01% for liver, spleen, right kidney, and left kidney segmentation, respectively. Finally, we assess the effectiveness of our proposed approach on a dataset collected from a local hospital. Machine learning (ML) algorithms are becoming popular in cosmology for extracting valuable information from cosmological data. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of a convolutional neural network (CNN) trained on matter density snapshots to distinguish clustering dark energy (DE) from the cosmological constant scenario and to detect the speed of sound (c s) associated with clustering DE. We compare the CNN results with those from a Random Forest (RF) algorithm trained on power spectra. Varying the DE equation of state parameter w DE within the range of −0.7 to −0.99 while keeping |$c_s^2 = 1$|⁠ , we find that the CNN approach results in a significant improvement in accuracy over the RF algorithm. The improvement in classification accuracy can be as high as 40 per cent depending on the physical scales involved. We also investigate the ML algorithms' ability to detect the impact of the speed of sound by choosing |$c_s^2$| from the set {1, 10−2, 10−4, 10−7} while maintaining a constant w DE for three different cases: w DE ∈ {−0.7, −0.8, −0.9}. Our results suggest that distinguishing between various values of |$c_s^2$| and the case where |$c_s^2=1$| is challenging, particularly at small scales and when w DE ≈ −1. However, as we consider larger scales, the accuracy of |$c_s^2$| detection improves. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a condition that degenerates over time and impairs speech and pronunciation because brain cells have died. This research work aims to predict parkinson disease using the voice features extracted from speech signals recorded from PD individuals with dysphonic speech disorders by employing deep learning algorithms. PD is challenging to diagnose early on in the clinical presentation. To address the issue in machine learning methods, this paper proposes a neural network model by processing speech signals to classify PD using the University of California Irvine (UCI) machine learning repository dataset. Initially, a pre-loss reduction module is created by using pre-sampling to make the dataset balanced by reducing the dimensionality and maintaining the size of the space without influencing the learning process for data preparation. The relevant features are derived using a novel multi-agent salp swarm (MASS) algorithm, and a novel Parkinson classification neural network (PCNN) is proposed to classify Parkinson's patients with high accuracy employing these derived features. The result shows that the models that use MASS-PCNN produce higher classification accuracy of 99.1%, precision of 97.8%, recall of 94.7% and F1-score of 0.995 when paralleled to the existing models. Personalized learning has gained significant attention in education as a means to cater to the diverse needs of learners and optimize educational outcomes. However, ensuring the efficiency of personalized learning remains a challenge. It requires the ability to accurately analyze and interpret vast amounts of data collected from learners. Traditional analytical approaches often struggle to handle the complexity and heterogeneity of this data, limiting the potential for personalized learning interventions. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a personalized learning efficiency data analysis network (PLEDANet) based on machine learning. First, PLEDANet redesigns a convolutional neural network based on the ResNet structure. The network performs convolutions using multiple convolution kernels of different scales to extract diverse feature information from personalized learning efficiency data. To enhance the extraction and representation of fine-grained differentiated features, PLEDANet introduces a hybrid attention module to combine channel and spatial information among feature maps. Second, PLEDANet designs a hybrid loss function for model training, which consists of the AM-softmax loss and the Center loss. The former increases the inter-class distance of features by imposing a fixed angular margin, while the latter reduces the intra-class distance by constraining the samples and feature centers. The proposed methodology addresses these challenges through two main components: object detection and ball pattern recognition. Initially, a robust algorithm is employed to detect the billiard balls using color space transformation and thresholding techniques. This is followed by determining the position of the billiard table through strategic cropping and isolation of the primary table area. The crucial phase involves the intricate task of recognizing ball patterns to differentiate between solid and striped balls. To achieve this, a modified convolutional neural network is utilized, leveraging the Xception network optimized by an innovative algorithm known as the Improved Chaos African Vulture Optimization (ICAVO) algorithm. The ICAVO algorithm enhances the Xception network's performance by efficiently exploring the solution space and avoiding local optima. The results of this study demonstrate a significant enhancement in recognition accuracy, with the Xception/ICAVO model achieving remarkable recognition rates for both solid and striped balls. Over the past decades, the software industry has expanded to include all industries. Since stakeholders tend to use it to get their work done, software houses seek to estimate the cost of the software, which includes calculating the effort, time, and resources required. Although many researchers have worked to estimate it, the prediction accuracy results are still inaccurate and unstable. Estimating it requires a lot of effort. Therefore, there is an urgent need for modern techniques that contribute to cost estimation. This paper seeks to present a model based on deep learning and machine learning techniques by combining convolutional neural networks (CNN) and the particle swarm algorithm (PSO) in the context of time series forecasting, which enables feature extraction and automatic tuning of hyperparameters, which reduces the manual effort of selecting parameters and contributes to fine-tuning. The use of PSO also enhances the robustness and generalization ability of the CNN model and its iterative nature allows for efficient discovery of hyperparameter similarity. The model was trained and tested on 13 different benchmark datasets and evaluated through six metrics: mean absolute error (MAE), mean square error (MSE), mean magnitude relative error (MMRE), root mean square error (RMSE), median magnitude relative error (MdMRE), and prediction accuracy (PRED). Comparative results reveal that the performance of the proposed model is better than other methods for all datasets and evaluation criteria. The nuclear imaging system at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) is a crucial diagnostic for determining the geometry of inertial confinement fusion implosions. The geometry is reconstructed from a neutron aperture image via a set of reconstruction algorithms using an iterative Bayesian inference approach. An important step in these reconstruction algorithms is finding the fusion source location within the camera field-of-view. Currently, source localization is achieved via an iterative optimization algorithm. In this paper, we introduce a machine learning approach for source localization. Specifically, we train a convolutional neural network to predict source locations given a neutron aperture image. We show that this approach decreases computation time by several orders of magnitude compared to the current optimization-based source localization while achieving similar accuracy on both synthetic data and a collection of recent NIF deuterium–tritium shots. Quantum computing (QC) has opened the door to advancements in machine learning (ML) tasks that are currently implemented in the classical domain. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are classical ML architectures that exploit data locality and possess a simpler structure than a fully connected multi-layer perceptrons (MLPs) without compromising the accuracy of classification. However, the concept of preserving data locality is usually overlooked in the existing quantum counterparts of CNNs, particularly for extracting multifeatures in multidimensional data. In this paper, we present an multidimensional quantum convolutional classifier (MQCC) that performs multidimensional and multifeature quantum convolution with average and Euclidean pooling, thus adapting the CNN structure to a variational quantum algorithm (VQA). The experimental work was conducted using multidimensional data to validate the correctness and demonstrate the scalability of the proposed method utilizing both noisy and noise-free quantum simulations. We evaluated the MQCC model with reference to reported work on state-of-the-art quantum simulators from IBM Quantum and Xanadu using a variety of standard ML datasets. This paper proposed a quantum state tomography approach based on the extreme learning machine (ELM), which is available in the reconstruction of quantum states via a lightweight neural network. The key step of the proposed tomography approach is to employ the ELM to approximate the complex mapping between the measurement values sequence and the real density matrix. After obtaining the output of the ELM-based estimator, a matrix transformation technique is used to make the network outputs satisfy quantum state constraints. Compared with deep learning-based tomography approaches, our proposed ELM-based approach enables both high-fidelity and high-efficiency quantum state tomography with only one training process under the condition of very few numbers of training samples, network layers and hidden layer nodes. In addition, the proposed tomography approach is robust to noisy measurement values, since the ELM-based estimator is quite lightweight. Simulations on the tomography of eigenstates, superposition states and mixed states are presented to verify our theoretical findings. With more personal devices being connected to the internet, individuals are becoming increasingly concerned about privacy. Therefore, it is important to develop machine learning algorithms that can use customer data to create personalized models while still adhering to strict privacy laws. In this paper, we propose a robust solution to this problem in a distributed, asynchronous environment with a verifiable convergence rate. Our proposed framework trains a Convolutional Neural Network on each client and sends the feature embeddings to other clients for data aggregation. This allows each client to train a deep-learning model on feature embeddings gathered from various clients in a single communication cycle. We provide a detailed description of the architecture and execution of our suggested approach. Our technique's effectiveness is evaluated by comparing it to the top central training and federated learning (FL) algorithms, and our tests on diverse datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms FL in terms of accuracy and is comparable to central training algorithms. Our findings also show that our proposed method reduces data transfer by over 75% compared to FL, resulting in significant bandwidth savings. As a result, model training can assist companies with high security and data protection concerns in setting up reliable collaboration platforms without requiring a central service provider. The Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is a novel and innovative technology which is part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). VANET is a network composed of a collection of vehicles and other roadside components that are interconnected wirelessly. The intention underlying the development of this technology is the improvement of the vehicle environment and the enhancement of vehicle and driver safety. Nevertheless, since VANETs operate wirelessly and under complicated conditions, they are susceptible to a variety of attacks by malicious actors. Traditional techniques such as encryption are no longer effective, so new techniques using intrusion detection systems IDS have attracted the attention of a large number of researchers. The IDS scans the entire network and identifies all the possible harmful nodes present in the network. The present paper covers the problem of the identification of attacks in VANET by using XGBoost. With the rapid development of quantum machine learning (QML), quantum convolutional neural networks (QCNN) have been proposed and shown advantages in classification problems. An intrusion detection system (IDS) based on the QML method is proven to have higher accuracy than IDS based on the traditional machine learning (ML) method. However, the multiple convolution pooling operations of QCNN will cause the loss of valuable data features, resulting in a large error in the final measurement results. In this paper, we design an IDS model of QCNN based on a variational quantum neural network (VQNN), which can effectively reduce data feature loss and improve detection accuracy. We compare this model with traditional ML models such as artificial neural network (ANN), logistic regression (LR), K-nearest neighbor (KNN) algorithm, support vector machine (SVM), and decision tree (DT). Epigenetic proteins (EP) play a role in the progression of a wide range of diseases, including autoimmune disorders, neurological disorders, and cancer. Recognizing their different functions has prompted researchers to investigate them as potential therapeutic targets and pharmacological targets. This paper proposes a novel deep learning-based model that accurately predicts EP. This study introduces a novel deep learning-based model that accurately predicts EP. Our approach entails generating two distinct datasets for training and evaluating the model. We then use three distinct strategies to transform protein sequences to numerical representations: Dipeptide Deviation from Expected Mean (DDE), Dipeptide Composition (DPC), and Group Amino Acid (GAAC). Following that, we train and compare the performance of four advanced deep learning models algorithms: Ensemble Residual Convolutional Neural Network (ERCNN), Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). The DDE encoding combined with the ERCNN model demonstrates the best performance on both datasets. This study demonstrates deep learning's potential for precisely predicting EP, which can considerably accelerate research and streamline drug discovery efforts. This paper presents the results of a study on data preprocessing and modeling for predicting corrosion in water pipelines of a steel industrial plant. The use case is a cooling circuit consisting of both direct and indirect cooling. In the direct cooling circuit, water comes into direct contact with the product, whereas in the indirect one, it does not. In this study, advanced machine learning techniques, such as extreme gradient boosting and deep neural networks, have been employed for two distinct applications. Firstly, a virtual sensor was created to estimate the corrosion rate based on influencing process variables, such as pH and temperature. Secondly, a predictive tool was designed to foresee the future evolution of the corrosion rate, considering past values of both influencing variables and the corrosion rate. The results show that the most suitable algorithm for the virtual sensor approach is the dense neural network, with MAPE values of (25 ± 4)% and (11 ± 4)% for the direct and indirect circuits, respectively. In contrast, different results are obtained for the two circuits when following the predictive tool approach. For the primary circuit, the convolutional neural network yields the best results, with MAPE = 4% on the testing set, whereas for the secondary circuit, the LSTM recurrent network shows the highest prediction accuracy, with MAPE = 9%. In general, models employing temporal windows have emerged as more suitable for corrosion prediction, with model performance significantly improving with a larger dataset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Malicious social bots pose a serious threat to social network security by spreading false information and guiding bad opinions in social networks. The singularity and scarcity of single organization data and the high cost of labeling social bots have given rise to the construction of federated models that combine federated learning with social bot detection. In this paper, we first combine the federated learning framework with the Relational Graph Convolutional Neural Network (RGCN) model to achieve federated social bot detection. A class-level cross entropy loss function is applied in the local model training to mitigate the effects of the class imbalance problem in local data. To address the data heterogeneity issue from multiple participants, we optimize the classical federated learning algorithm by applying knowledge distillation methods. Specifically, we adjust the client-side and server-side models separately: training a global generator to generate pseudo-samples based on the local data distribution knowledge to correct the optimization direction of client-side classification models, and integrating client-side classification models' knowledge on the server side to guide the training of the global classification model. We conduct extensive experiments on widely used datasets, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in social bot detection in heterogeneous data scenarios. Compared to baseline methods, our approach achieves a nearly 3–10% improvement in detection accuracy when the data heterogeneity is larger. Advancements in imaging, computer vision, and automation have revolutionized various fields, including field-based high-throughput plant phenotyping (FHTPP). This integration allows for the rapid and accurate measurement of plant traits. Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNNs) have emerged as a powerful tool in FHTPP, particularly in crop segmentation—identifying crops from the background—crucial for trait analysis. However, the effectiveness of DCNNs often hinges on the availability of large, labeled datasets, which poses a challenge due to the high cost of labeling. In this study, a deep learning with bagging approach is introduced to enhance crop segmentation using high-resolution RGB images, tested on the NU-Spidercam dataset from maize plots. The proposed method outperforms traditional machine learning and deep learning models in prediction accuracy and speed. Remarkably, it achieves up to 40 % higher Intersection-over-Union (IoU) than the threshold method and 11 % over conventional machine learning, with significantly faster prediction times and manageable training duration. Crucially, it demonstrates that even small labeled datasets can yield high accuracy in semantic segmentation. This approach not only proves effective for FHTPP but also suggests potential for broader application in remote sensing, offering a scalable solution to semantic segmentation challenges.
