Knowledge diffusion in regional innovation ecosystems is an important factor that influences the regional innovation efficiency. In regional innovation ecosystems under digital empowerment, the knowledge diffusion enables the optimal allocation of innovation resources and promotes the sustainable development and ecological evolution of regional innovation ecosystems. In this paper, a SEIR (Susceptible–Exposed–Infected–Recovered) model is proposed for knowledge diffusion in regional innovation ecosystems under digitization. The basic reproduction number of the proposed model is calculated and its stability is validated. Finally, the expressions for the optimal control system and the optimal control parameters are presented. According to the research conclusions of this paper, the knowledge-diffusion ability of innovation agents in an innovation ecosystem affects the knowledge diffusion in a system; the contact rate between innovation agents affects the efficiency of knowledge diffusion in the system and the structure of the system; the digital transmission ability of innovation agents affects the breadth of knowledge diffusion in the system; and the self-learning ability of innovation agents affects the efficiency of knowledge diffusion in the system.The digital technologies help heterogeneous innovation agents in regional innovation ecosystems to break down the knowledge silos. At the same time, the digital technologies enhance the ability of innovation agents to absorb and learn knowledge in regional innovation ecosystems under digitization, thereby increasing the infection rate of knowledge diffusion in such systems.These conclusions extend the theoretical boundaries of innovation ecosystems and knowledge diffusion and offer management implications for enterprises and governments in decision-making. The basic reproduction, or reproductive number, is a useful index that indicates whether or not there will be an epidemic. However, it is also very important to determine whether an epidemic will eventually decrease and disappear or persist as an endemic. Different infectious diseases have different behaviors and mathematical models used to simulated them should capture the most important processes; however, the models also involve simplifications. Influenza epidemics are usually short-lived and can be modeled with ordinary differential equations without considering demographics. Delays such as the infection time can change the behavior of the solutions. The same is true if there is permanent or temporary immunity, or complete or partial immunity. Vaccination, isolation and the use of antivirals can also change the outcome. In this paper, we introduce several new models and use them to find the effects of all the above factors paying special attention to whether the model can represent an infectious process that eventually disappears. We determine the equilibrium solutions and establish the stability of the disease-free equilibrium using various methods. We also show that many models of influenza or other epidemics with a short duration do not have solutions with a disappearing epidemic. The main objective of the paper is to introduce different ways of modeling immunity in epidemic models. Several scenarios with different immunities are studied since a person may not be re-infected because he/she has total or partial immunity or because there were no close contacts. We show that some relatively small changes, such as in the vaccination rate, can significantly change the dynamics; for example, the existence and number of the disease-free equilibria. In this paper, we suggest a mathematical model of COVID-19 with multiple variants of the virus under optimal control. Mathematical modeling has been used to gain deeper insights into the transmission of COVID-19, and various prevention and control strategies have been implemented to mitigate its spread. Our model is a SEIR-based model for multi-strains of COVID-19 with 7 compartments. We also consider the circulatory structure to account for the termination of immunity for COVID-19. The model is established in terms of the positivity and boundedness of the solution and the existence of equilibrium points, and the local stability of the solution. As a result of fitting data of COVID-19 in Ghana to the model, the basic reproduction number of the original virus and Delta variant was estimated to be 1.9396, and the basic reproduction number of the Omicron variant was estimated to be 3.4905, which is 1.8 times larger than that. We observe that even small differences in the incubation and recovery periods of two strains with the same initial transmission rate resulted in large differences in the number of infected individuals. In the case of COVID-19, infections caused by the Omicron variant occur 1.5 to 10 times more than those caused by the original virus. In terms of the optimal control strategy, we formulate three control strategies focusing on social distancing, vaccination, and testing-treatment. We have developed an optimal control model for the three strategies outlined above for the multi-strain model using the Pontryagin's Maximum Principle. Through numerical simulations, we analyze three optimal control strategies for each strain and also consider combinations of the two control strategies. As a result of the simulation, all control strategies are effective in reducing disease spread, in particular, vaccination strategies are more effective than the other two control strategies. In addition the combination of the two strategies also reduces the number of infected individuals by 1/10 compared to implementing one strategy, even when mild levels are implemented. Finally, we show that if the testing-treatment strategy is not properly implemented, the number of asymptomatic and unidentified infections may surge. This work focused on studying the effect of vaccination rate κ on reducing the outbreak of infectious diseases, especially if the infected individuals do not have any symptoms. We employed the fractional order derivative in this study since it has a high degree of accuracy. Recently, a lot of scientists have been interested in fractional-order models. It is considered a modern direction in the mathematical modeling of epidemiology systems. Therefore, a fractional order of the SEIR epidemic model with two types of infected groups and vaccination strategy was formulated and investigated in this paper. The proposed model includes the following classes: susceptible S (t) , exposed E (t) , asymptomatic infected I c (t) , symptomatic infected I η (t) , vaccinated V (t) , and recovered R (t) . We began our study by creating the existence, non-negativity, and boundedness of the solutions of the proposed model. Moreover, we established the basic reproduction number R 0 , that was used to examine the existence and stability of the equilibrium points for the presented model. By creating appropriate Lyapunov functions, we proved the global stability of the free-disease equilibrium point and endemic equilibrium point. We concluded that the free-disease equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable (GAS) when R 0 ≤ 1 , while the endemic equilibrium point is GAS if R 0 > 1 . Therefore, we indicated the increasing vaccination rate κ leads to reducing R 0 . These findings confirm the important role of vaccination rate κ in fighting the spread of infectious diseases. Moreover, the numerical simulations were introduced to validate theoretical results that are given in this work by applying the predictor-corrector PECE method of Adams-Bashforth-Moulton. Further more, the impact of the vaccination rate κ was explored numerically and we found that, as κ increases, the R 0 is decreased. This means the vaccine can be useful in reducing the spread of infectious diseases. This paper studies a delayed rumor propagation model with logistic growth and saturation incidence. The next generation matrix method, some inequality techniques, the Lyapunov-LaSalle invariance principle, and the Lyapunov method are used in this paper. Our results indicate that if the basic regeneration number (which is analogous to the basic reproduction number in disease transmission models) is less than 1, the rumor-free equilibrium point (which is analogous to the disease-free equilibrium point in disease transmission models) is globally stable. If the basic regeneration number is greater than 1, then the rumor is permanent, and some sufficient conditions are obtained for local and global asymptotic stability of the rumor prevailing equilibrium point (which is analogous to the endemic equilibrium point in disease transmission models). The prevention and control of the spread of Cystic Echinococcosis is an important public health issue. Health education has been supported by many governments because it can increase public awareness of echinococcosis, promote the development of personal hygiene habits, and subsequently reduce the transmission of echinococcosis. In this paper, a dynamic model of echinococcosis is used to integrate all aspects of health education. Theoretical analysis and numerical model fitting were used to quantitatively analysed by the impact of health education on the spread of echinococcosis. Theoretical findings indicate that the basic reproduction number is crucial in determining the prevalence of echinococcosis within a given geographical area. The parameters of the model were estimated and fitted by using data from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in China, and the sensitivity of the basic reproduction number was analysed by using the partial rank correlation coefficient method. These findings illustrate that all aspects of health education demonstrate a negative correlation with the basic reproduction number, suggesting the effectiveness of health education in reducing the basic reproduction number and mitigating the transmission of echinococcosis, which is consistent with reality. Particularly, the basic reproduction number showed a strong negative correlation with the burial rate of infected livestock (b) and the incidence of infected livestock viscera that is not fed to dogs (q). This paper further analyzes the implementation plan for canine deworming rates and sheep immunity rates, as well as the transmission of infected hosts over time under different parameters b and q. According to the findings, emphasizing the management of infected livestock in health education has the potential to significantly reduce the risk of echinococcosis transmission. Several research papers have attempted to describe the dynamics of COVID-19 based on systems of differential equations. These systems have taken into account quarantined or isolated cases, vaccinations, control measures, and demographic parameters, presenting propositions regarding theoretical results that often investigate the asymptotic behavior of the system. In this paper, we discuss issues that concern the theoretical results proposed in the paper "An Extended SEIR Model with Vaccination for Forecasting the COVID-19 Pandemic in Saudi Arabia Using an Ensemble Kalman Filter". We propose detailed explanations regarding the resolution of these issues. Additionally, this paper focuses on extending the local stability analysis of the disease-free equilibrium, as presented in the aforementioned paper, while emphasizing the derivation of theorems that validate the global stability of both epidemic equilibria. Emphasis is placed on the basic reproduction number R 0 , which determines the asymptotic behavior of the system. This index represents the expected number of secondary infections that are generated from an already infected case in a population where almost all individuals are susceptible. The derived propositions can inform health authorities about the long-term behavior of the phenomenon, potentially leading to more precise and efficient public measures. Finally, it is worth noting that the examined paper still presents an interesting epidemiological scheme, and the utilization of the Kalman filtering approach remains one of the state-of-the-art methods for modeling epidemic phenomena. Tracking pathogen transmissibility during infectious disease outbreaks is essential for assessing the effectiveness of public health measures and planning future control strategies. A key measure of transmissibility is the time-dependent reproduction number, which has been estimated in real-time during outbreaks of a range of pathogens from disease incidence time series data. While commonly used approaches for estimating the time-dependent reproduction number can be reliable when disease incidence is recorded frequently, such incidence data are often aggregated temporally (for example, numbers of cases may be reported weekly rather than daily). As we show, commonly used methods for estimating transmissibility can be unreliable when the timescale of transmission is shorter than the timescale of data recording. To address this, here we develop a simulation-based approach involving Approximate Bayesian Computation for estimating the time-dependent reproduction number from temporally aggregated disease incidence time series data. We first use a simulated dataset representative of a situation in which daily disease incidence data are unavailable and only weekly summary values are reported, demonstrating that our method provides accurate estimates of the time-dependent reproduction number under such circumstances. We then apply our method to two outbreak datasets consisting of weekly influenza case numbers in 2019-20 and 2022-23 in Wales (in the United Kingdom). In this paper we develop a four compartment within-host model of nutrition and HIV. We show that the model has two equilibria: an infection-free equilibrium and infection equilibrium. The infection free equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction number $ \mathcal{R}&#95;0 < 1 $, and unstable when $ \mathcal{R}&#95;0 > 1 $. The infection equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable if $ \mathcal{R}&#95;0 > 1 $ and an additional condition holds. We show that the within-host model of HIV and nutrition is structured to reveal its parameters from the observations of viral load, CD4 cell count and total protein data. We then estimate the model parameters for these 3 data sets. We have also studied the practical identifiability of the model parameters by performing Monte Carlo simulations, and found that the rate of clearance of the virus by immunoglobulins is practically unidentifiable, and that the rest of the model parameters are only weakly identifiable given the experimental data. Furthermore, we have studied how the data frequency impacts the practical identifiability of model parameters.

This paper is concerned with a reaction-diffusion SIS (susceptible-infected-susceptible) epidemic model governed by a saturated incidence function and linear birth-death growth in advective environments. The related model without birth and death case has been studied in our previous work [8]. In this paper, our main purpose is to investigate the combined effects of varying total population, saturation infection mechanism and spatial heterogeneity on the transmission dynamics and spatial distribution of disease. The extinction and persistence of the infectious disease in terms of the basic reproduction number are established. We discuss the global attractivity of the equilibria in two special cases and explore the asymptotic profiles of the endemic equilibrium with respect to the dispersal and advection rates. Compared with the results for the model without birth and death in [8] , our findings indicate that the linear birth-death growth can enhance the persistence of an infectious disease and may provide some prospective applications in disease prevention and control. This paper deals with the problem of the prediction and control of cholera outbreak using real data of Cameroon. We first develop and analyze a deterministic model with seasonality for the cholera, the novelty of which lies in the incorporation of undetected cases. We present the basic properties of the model and compute two explicit threshold parameters R0 and R0 that bound the effective reproduction number R0, from below and above, that is R0 ≤ R0 ≤ R0. We prove that cholera tends to disappear when R0 ≤ 1, while when R0 >1, cholera persists uniformly within the population. After, assuming that the cholera transmission rates and the proportions of newly symptomatic are unknown, we develop the EnKf approach to estimate unmeasurable state variables and these unknown parameters using real data of cholera from 2014 to 2022 in Cameroon. We use this result to estimate the upper and lower bound of the effective reproduction number and reconstructed active asymptomatic and symptomatic cholera cases in Cameroon, and give a short-term forecasts of cholera in Cameroon until 2024. Numerical simulations show that (i) the transmission rate from free Vibrio cholerae in the environment is more important than the human transmission and begin to be high few week after May and in October, (ii) 90% of newly cholera infected cases that present the symptoms of cholera are not diagnosed and (iii) 60.36% of asymptomatic are detected at 14% and 86% of them recover naturally. The future trends reveals that an outbreak appeared from July to November 2023 with the number of cases reported monthly peaked in October 2023. An impulsive control strategy is incorporated in the model with the aim to avoid or prevent the cholera outbreak. In the first year of monitoring, we observed a reduction of more than 75% of incidences and the disappearance of the peaks when no control are available in Cameroon. A second monitoring of control led to a further reduction of around 60% of incidences the following year, showing how impulse control could be an effective means of eradicating cholera. In this paper, we have delved into the intricate dynamics of a discrete-time Hepatitis B virus (HBV) model, shedding light on its local dynamics, topological classifications at equilibrium states, and pivotal epidemiological parameters such as the basic reproduction number. Our analysis extended to exploring convergence rates, control strategies, and bifurcation phenomena crucial for understanding the behavior of the HBV system. Employing linear stability theory, we meticulously examined the local dynamics of the HBV model, discerning various equilibrium states and their topological classifications. Subsequently, we identified bifurcation sets at these equilibrium points, providing insights into the system’s stability and potential transitions. Further, through the lens of bifurcation theory, we conducted a comprehensive bifurcation analysis, unraveling the intricate interplay of parameters that govern the HBV model’s behavior. Our investigation extended beyond traditional stability analysis to explore chaos and convergence rates, enriching our understanding of the dynamics of the understudied HBV model. Finally, we validated our theoretical findings through numerical simulations, confirming the robustness and applicability of our analysis in real-world scenarios. By integrating biological and epidemiological insights into our mathematical framework, we offered a holistic understanding of the dynamics of HBV transmission dynamics, with implications for public health interventions and disease control strategies. In this paper, we investigated a new heroin–cocaine epidemic model which incorporates spatial heterogeneity and nonlinear incidence rate. The main project of this paper is to explore the threshold dynamics in terms of the basic reproduction number $ \mathcal {R}_0 $ R 0 , which was defined by applying the next-generation operator. The threshold type results shown that if $ \mathcal {R}_0 \lt 1 $ R 0 < 1 , then the drug-free steady state is globally asymptotically stable. If $ \mathcal {R}_0 \gt 1 $ R 0 > 1 , then heroin–cocaine spread is uniformly persistent. Furthermore, the globally asymptotic stability of the drug-free steady state has been established for the critical case of $ \mathcal {R}_0=1 $ R 0 = 1 by analysing the local asymptotic stability and global attractivity. In this paper, we introduce a general numerical method to approximate the reproduction numbers of a large class of multi-group, age-structured, population models with a finite age span. To provide complete flexibility in the definition of the birth and transition processes, we propose an equivalent formulation for the age-integrated state within the extended space framework. Then, we discretize the birth and transition operators via pseudospectral collocation. We discuss applications to epidemic models with continuous and piecewise continuous rates, with different interpretations of the age variable (e.g., demographic age, infection age and disease age) and the transmission terms (e.g., horizontal and vertical transmission). The tests illustrate that the method can compute different reproduction numbers, including the basic and type reproduction numbers as special cases.

Since the global outbreak of COVID-19, the virus has continuously mutated and can survive in the air for long periods of time. This paper establishes and analyzes a model of COVID-19 with self-protection and quarantine measures affected by viruses in the environment to investigate the influence of viruses in the environment on the spread of the outbreak, as well as to develop a rational prevention and control measure to control the spread of the outbreak. The basic reproduction number was calculated and Lyapunov functions were constructed to discuss the stability of the model equilibrium points. The disease-free equilibrium point was proven to be globally asymptotically stable when $ R&#95;0 < 1 $, and the endemic equilibrium point was globally asymptotically stable when $ R&#95;0 > 1 $. The model was fitted using data from COVID-19 cases in Chongqing between November 1 to November 25, 2022. Based on the numerical analysis, the following conclusion was obtained: clearing the virus in the environment and strengthening the isolation measures for infected people can control the epidemic to a certain extent, but enhancing the self-protection of individuals can be more effective in reducing the risk of being infected and controlling the transmission of the epidemic, which is more conducive to the practical application.

Background: To control resurging infectious diseases like mumps, it is necessary to resort to effective control and preventive measures. These measures include increasing vaccine coverage, providing the community with advice on how to reduce exposure, and closing schools. To justify such intervention, it is important to understand how well each of these measures helps to limit transmission. Methods: In this paper, we propose a simple SEILR (susceptible-exposed-symptomatically infectious-asymptomatically infectious-recovered) model by using a novel transmission rate function to incorporate temperature, humidity, and closing school factors. This new transmission rate function allows us to verify the impact of each factor either separately or combined. Using reported mumps cases from 2004 to 2018 in the mainland of China, we perform data fitting and parameter estimation to evaluate the basic reproduction number R 0 . As a wide range of one-dose measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine programs in China started only in 2008, we use different vaccination proportions for the first Stage I period (from 2004 to 2008) and the second Stage II period (from 2009 to 2018). This allows us to verify the importance of higher vaccine coverage with a possible second dose of MMR vaccine. Results: We find that the basic reproduction number R 0 is generally between 1 and 3. We then use the Akaike Information Criteria to assess the extent to which each of the three factors contributed to the spread of mumps. The findings suggest that the impact of all three factors is substantial, with temperature having the most significant impact, followed by school opening and closing, and finally humidity. Conclusion: We conclude that the strategy of increasing vaccine coverage, changing micro-climate (temperature and humidity), and closing schools can greatly reduce mumps transmission. In this paper, we construct an infectious disease model with a testing compartment and analyze the existence and stability of its endemic states. We obtain the basic reproduction number, R 0 , and demonstrate the existence of one endemic equilibrium without testing and one endemic equilibrium with testing and prove their local and global stabilities based on the value of the basic reproduction number, R 0 . We then apply our model to the US COVID-19 pandemic and find that, for a large parameter set, including those relevant to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, our analytic and numerical results suggest that the trajectories will be trapped to the testing-free state when the testing number is small enough. In this paper, a dynamic HIV model with cell-to-cell transmission, two immune responses, and induced apoptosis is proposed and studied. First, the non-negativity and boundedness of the solutions of the model are given, and then the exact expression of the basic reproduction number R0 is obtained by using the next generation matrix method. Second, criteria are obtained for the local stability of the disease-free equilibrium, immune response-free equilibrium, and the infected equilibrium with both humoral and cellular immune responses. Furthermore, the threshold conditions are also derived for the global asymptotic stability of the disease-free equilibrium, immune responsefree equilibrium, and the infected equilibrium with both humoral and cellular immune responses by constructing the suitable Lyapunov function. Finally, some numerical simulations are conducted to verify the theoretical results; the numerical simulation results show that the increase of apoptosis rate had a positive role in the control of viral infection. Immunotherapy is a targeted therapy that can be applied to cervical cancer patients to prevent DNA damage caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). The HPV infects normal cervical cells withing a specific cell age interval, i.e., between the G1 to S phase of the cell cycle. In this study, we developed a new mathematical model of age-dependent immunotherapy for cervical cancer. The model is a four-dimensional first-order partial differential equation with time- and age-independent variables. The cell population is divided into four sub-populations, i.e., susceptible cells, cells infected by HPV, precancerous cells, and cancer cells. The immunotherapy term has been added to precancerous cells since these cells can experience regression if appointed by proper treatments. The immunotherapy process is closely related to the rate of T-cell division. The treatment works in the same cell cycle that stimulates and inhibits the immune system. In our model, immunotherapy is represented as a periodic function with a small amplitude. It is based on the fluctuating interaction between Tcells and precancerous cells. We have found that there are two types of steady-state conditions, i.e., infection-free and endemic. The local and global stability of an infection-free steady-state has been analyzed based on basic reproduction numbers. We have solved the Riccati differential equation to show the existence of an endemic steady-state. The stability analysis of the endemic steady-state has been determined by using the perturbation approach and solving integral equations. Gumboro disease is a viral poultry disease that causes immune suppression on the infected birds leading to poor production, mortality, and exposure to secondary infections, hence a major threat in the poultry industry worldwide. A mathematical model of the transmission dynamics of Gumboro disease is developed in this paper having four compartments of chicken population and one compartment of Gumboro pathogen population. This paper explores the dynamics of COVID-19 transmission, particularly focusing on super-spreaders, through the lens of the SIR model. The model comprises six compartments representing susceptible, exposed, symptomatic infected, super-spreader, asymptomatic infected, and recovered individuals. Utilizing a set of non-linear, interdependent differential equations, we numerically solve for model parameters to examine the influence of super-spreaders on infection spread within the population. The time-varying effective reproduction number Rt is a widely used indicator of transmission dynamics during infectious disease outbreaks. Timely estimates of Rt can be obtained from reported cases counted by their date of symptom onset, which is generally closer to the time of infection than the date of report. Case counts by date of symptom onset are typically obtained from line list data, however these data can have missing information and are subject to right truncation. Previous methods have addressed these problems independently by first imputing missing onset dates, then adjusting truncated case counts, and finally estimating the effective reproduction number. This stepwise approach makes it difficult to propagate uncertainty and can introduce subtle biases during real-time estimation due to the continued impact of assumptions made in previous steps. In this work, we integrate imputation, truncation adjustment, and Rt estimation into a single generative Bayesian model, allowing direct joint inference of case counts and Rt from line list data with missing symptom onset dates. We then use this framework to compare the performance of nowcasting approaches with different stepwise and generative components on synthetic line list data for multiple outbreak scenarios and across different epidemic phases. We find that under reporting delays realistic for hospitalization data (50% of reports delayed by more than a week), intermediate smoothing, as is common practice in stepwise approaches, can bias nowcasts of case counts and Rt, which is avoided in a joint generative approach due to shared regularization of all model components. On incomplete line list data, a fully generative approach enables the quantification of uncertainty due to missing onset dates without the need for an initial multiple imputation step. In a real-world comparison using hospitalization line list data from the COVID-19 pandemic in Switzerland, we observe the same qualitative differences between approaches. The generative modeling components developed in this work have been integrated and further extended in the R package epinowcast, providing a flexible and interpretable tool for real-time surveillance. In this paper, a fractional order HIV/HTLV co-infection model with HIV-specific antibody immune response is established. Two cases are considered: constant control and optimal control. For the constant control system, the existence and uniqueness of the positive solutions are proved, and then the sufficient conditions for the existence and stability of five equilibriums are obtained. For the second case, the Pontryagin's Maximum Principle is used to analyze the optimal control, and the formula of the optimal solution are derived. After that, some numerical simulations are performed to validate the theoretical prediction. In this paper, we developed a nonlinear mathematical model for the transmission of the monkeypox virus among populations of humans and rodents under the fractal-fractional operators in the context of Atangana-Baleanu. For the theoretical analysis, the renowned theorems of fixed points, like Banach's and Krasnoselskii's types, were used to prove the existence and uniqueness of the solutions. Additionally, some results regarding the stability of the equilibrium points and the basic reproduction number were provided. In addition, the numerical schemes of the considered model were established using the Adams-Bashforth method. This paper studies a nonlinear fractional mathematical model for hand, foot, and mouth Disease (HFMD), incorporating a vaccinated compartment. Our initial focus involves establishing the non-negativity and boundedness of the fractional order dynamical model. The existence and uniqueness of the system are discussed using the Caputo derivative operator formulation. Applying a fixed-point approach, we obtain results that confirm the presence of at least one solution. This paper delves into the analysis of a stochastic epidemic model known as the susceptible–vaccinated–exposed–infectious–recovered (SVEIR) model, where transmission dynamics are governed by a nonlinear function. In this paper, we construct a more realistic mathematical model to study toxoplasmosis dynamics. The model considers two discrete time delays. The first delay is related to the latent phase, which is the time lag between when a susceptible cat has effective contact with an oocyst and when it begins to produce oocysts. The second discrete time delay is the time that elapses from when the oocysts become present in the environment to when they are able to infect. The main aim in this paper is to find the conditions under which the toxoplasmosis can disappear from the cat population and to study whether the time delays can affect the qualitative properties of the model. Thus, we investigate the impact of the combination of two discrete time delays on the toxoplasmosis dynamics. Using dynamical systems theory, we are able to find the basic reproduction number R 0 d that determines the global long-term dynamics of the toxoplasmosis. We prove that, if R 0 d < 1 , the toxoplasmosis will be eradicated and that the toxoplasmosis-free equilibrium is globally stable. We design a Lyapunov function in order to prove the global stability of the toxoplasmosis-free equilibrium. We also prove that, if the threshold parameter R 0 d is greater than one, then there is only one toxoplasmosis-endemic equilibrium point, but the stability of this point is not theoretically proven. However, we obtained partial theoretical results and performed numerical simulations that suggest that, if R 0 d > 1 , then the toxoplasmosis-endemic equilibrium point is globally stable. The protection of wireless sensor networks (WSN) against malware attacks is crucial. The paper discusses the issue of malware attacks in WSN, which are commonly used for monitoring and surveillance in various applications. Due to resource constraints, sensor nodes in WSN are vulnerable to malware attacks, which can spread rapidly and paralyze the network. The development of new technologies such as IoT, Industry 4.0 has increased the importance of WSN, and it has become essential to address the challenges posed by the resource‐constrained nature of sensor nodes and security concerns. In this paper, a model is considered with two exposed states to investigate the behaviour of malware spreading in WSN, and a SE1E2IR (Susceptible—Exposed State 1 ‐ Exposed State 2 ‐ Infectious—Recovered) model is proposed. The model is formulated as a system of differential equations, and its equilibrium and stability are examined. The basic reproduction number (R0) is also calculated as a key parameter that characterizes the spread of malware in the network. This parameter helps to identify the conditions under which the network will remain malware‐free or when it will experience an outbreak of malware. The proposed model provides a mechanism for the earlier detection of malware occurrences in WSN, and also discusses the effect of connectivity and coverages on the propagation of malware in the network. The Zika virus (ZIKV) is a serious global public health crisis. A major control challenge is its multiple transmission modes. This paper aims to simulate the transmission patterns of ZIKV using a dynamic process-based epidemiological model written in ordinary differential equations, which incorporates the human-to-mosquito infection by bites and sewage, mosquito-to-human infection by bites, and human-to-human infection by sex. Mathematical analyses are carried out to calculate the basic reproduction number and backward bifurcation, and prove the existence and stability of the equilibria. The model is validated with infection data by applying it to the 2015–2016 ZIKV epidemic in Brazil. The results indicate that the reproduction number is estimated to be 2.13, in which the contributions by mosquito bite, sex and sewage account for 85.7%, 3.5% and 10.8%, respectively. This number and the morbidity rate are most sensitive to parameters related to mosquito ecology, rather than asymptomatic or human-to-human transmission. Multiple transmission routes and suitable temperature exacerbate ZIKV infection in Brazil, and the vast majority of human infection cases were prevented by the intervention implemented. This paper focuses on the impact of mosquito biting bias on the success of malaria intervention strategies. The initial model is developed considering the existence of symptomatic and asymptomatic humans, as well as vector bias. The model is then analyzed to demonstrate how the malaria-endemic equilibrium always exists and is globally asymptotically stable if the basic reproduction number is larger than one. On the other hand, malaria will always go extinct in the population if the basic reproduction number is less than one. For intervention analysis, the model is extended by considering mosquito repellent and hospitalization as control strategies. The control reproduction number is shown analytically. Using the Pontryagin maximum principle, we characterize our optimal control problem. Several scenarios are conducted to observe the dynamics of control variables under different circumstances. We found that the intervention of mosquito repellent and hospitalization together is the most cost-effective strategy to reduce the spread of malaria. This paper addresses an investigation into a leader‐following consensus problem in a novel multi‐agent‐based SIS (Susceptible‐Infected‐Susceptible) epidemic model. As infectious diseases are easily spread through travel, the model considers each agent to represent a city in an infected country, interacting with neighbouring cities towards achieving disease eradication through consensus. To make the model more realistic, the Effect Terms (ETs) arising from the effects of agent states on each other are also considered. This paper presents an SIQR patch model that combines population migration and entry–exit screening. The threshold for disease extinction is determined using the next-generation matrix method. By constructing the Lyapunov function, the global asymptotic stability of the disease-free equilibrium is demonstrated when R0 < 1. The local asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium is shown using the Hurwitz criterion, and it is found that the disease is uniformly persistent when R0 > 1. Taking into account the effects of the immune response and delay, and complexity on HIV-1 transmission, a multiscale AIDS/HIV-1 model is formulated in this paper. The multiscale model is described by a within-host fast time model with intracellular delay and immune delay, and a between-host slow time model with latency delay. The dynamics of the fast time model is analyzed, and includes the stability of equilibria and properties of Hopf bifurcation. Further, for the coupled slow time model without an immune response, the basic reproduction number R 0 h is defined, which determines whether the model may have zero, one, or two positive equilibria under different conditions. This implies that the slow time model demonstrates more complex dynamic behaviors, including saddle-node bifurcation, backward bifurcation, and Hopf bifurcation. For the other case, that is, the coupled slow time model with an immune response, the threshold dynamics, based on the basic reproduction number R ˜ 0 h , is rigorously investigated. More specifically, if R ˜ 0 h < 1 , the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable; if R ˜ 0 h > 1 , the model exhibits a unique endemic equilibrium that is globally asymptotically stable. With regard to the coupled slow time model with an immune response and stable periodic solution, the basic reproduction number R 0 is derived, which serves as a threshold value determining whether the disease will die out or lead to periodic oscillations in its prevalence. The research results suggest that the disease is more easily controlled when hosts have an extensive immune response and the time required for new immune particles to emerge in response to antigenic stimulation is within a certain range. The world battled to defeat a novel coronavirus 2019 (SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19), a respiratory illness that is transmitted from person to person through contacts with droplets from infected persons. Despite efforts to disseminate preventable messages and adoption of mitigation strategies by governments and the World Health Organization (WHO), transmission spread globally. An accurate assessment of the transmissibility of the coronavirus remained a public health priority for many countries across the world to fight this pandemic, especially at the early onset. In this paper, we estimated the transmission potential of COVID-19 across 45 countries in sub-Saharan Africa using three approaches, namely, R 0 based on (i) an exponential growth model (ii) maximum likelihood (ML) estimation and (iii) a time-varying basic reproduction number at the early onset of the pandemic. Using data from March 14, 2020, to May 10, 2020, sub-Saharan African countries were still grappling with COVID-19 at that point in the pandemic. The region's basic reproduction number ( R 0 ) was 1.89 (95% CI: 1.767 to 2.026) using the growth model and 1.513 (95% CI: 1.491 to 1.535) with the maximum likelihood method, indicating that, on average, infected individuals transmitted the virus to less than two secondary persons. Several countries, including Sudan ( R 0 : 2.03), Ghana ( R 0 : 1.87), and Somalia ( R 0 : 1.85), exhibited high transmission rates. These findings highlighted the need for continued vigilance and the implementation of effective control measures to combat the pandemic in the region. Vaccination is widely acknowledged as an affordable and cost-effective approach to guard against infectious diseases. It is important to take vaccination rate, vaccine effectiveness, and vaccine-induced immune decline into account in epidemic dynamical modeling. In this paper, an epidemic dynamical model of vaccination is developed. This model provides a framework of the infectious disease transmission dynamics model through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result shows that the system may have multiple equilibria. We used the next-generation operator approach to calculate the maximum spectral radius, that is, basic reproduction number Rvac. Next, by dividing the model into infected and uninfected subjects, we can prove that the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable when Rvac < 1, provided certain assumptions are satisfied. When Rvac > 1, there exists a unique endemic equilibrium. Using geometric methods, we calculate the second compound matrix and demonstrate the Lozinskii measure ... ≤ 0, which is equivalent to the unique endemic equilibrium, which is globally asymptotically stable. Then, using center manifold theory, we justify the existence of forward bifurcation. As the vaccination rate decreases, the likelihood of forward bifurcation increases. Then, we performed sensitivity analysis and found that increasing the vaccine effectiveness rate can curb the propagation of disease effectively. This paper presents a mathematical model aimed at studying the global behaviour and optimal control strategies for Typhoid fever. The primary objective of this study is to identify the most effective control strategy that minimizes the spread of the disease. To achieve this, we calculate the effective and basic reproduction numbers and utilize them to investigate the existence and stability of the equilibria. Furthermore, we investigate the global impact of each model parameter on the variables using Latin Hypercube Sampling and Partial Rank Correlation Coefficient. Influenza is a respiratory infectious disease caused by influenza virus, which is commonly known as flu. In this paper. a deterministic model of inftuenza is proposed and investigates the impact of optimal control strategies with treatment function. In this paper, the Caputo-based fractional derivative optimal control model is looked at to learn more about how the human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) spreads. Model solution properties such as boundedness and non-negativity are checked and found to be true. In this paper, a fractional order two-strain SEIR epidemic model is studied and analyzed. This model will be presented in the form of a system containing six fractional order equations, that illustrate the interactions between susceptible, strain-1 exposed, strain-2 exposed, strain-1 infected, strain-2 infected and removed individuals. The proposed model has four equilibrium points: the disease-free equilibrium point, the strain-1 equilibrium point, the strain-2 equilibrium point and the total equilibrium point. By determining the new generation matrix, we have shown that our model has two basic reproduction numbers R1 0 and R2 0; the first one is associated with the strain-1 and the second one is related to the strain-2. Using the Lyapunov method and La-Salle's invariance principle, we have proved the global stability of the different equilibrium points, this stability depends on the strain-1 reproduction number R1 0 and on the strain-2 reproduction number R2 0. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to value our theoretical results. More precisely, if the two basic reproduction numbers are less than or equal 1, then the disease-free equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable, if one of the basic reproduction numbers is less than or equal 1 and the other is greater than 1, then the equilibrium point associated with the greatest basic reproduction number is globally asymptotically stable, and if the two basic reproduction numbers are greater than 1, then the last equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and tuberculosis (TB) have long been known to have a synergistic relationship. This is a result of each of the diseases impacting negatively on the immune system of the infected persons. The impact of these diseases on workforce productivity is studied in this paper from the viewpoint of dynamical systems. In this paper, we present a nonlinear ordinary differential equation model to study the dynamics of HIV-TB co-infection and its effect on workforce productivity. The main model is first decoupled into two basic submodels of HIV-only and TB-only models, whose qualitative properties are presented before the qualitative properties of the main model are studied. While the HIV-only model is shown to have a globally asymptotically stable disease-free equilibrium whenever its basic reproduction number is less than unity, the TB-only model is shown to exhibit backward bifurcation under some conditions. To investigate the impact of various intervention strategies on the control of the co-infection and improvement of workforce productivity, five time-dependent controls (involving transmission prevention for the two diseases, therapy for the two diseases, and capacity building for improved workforce productivity) are incorporated into the basic model to form an optimal control problem, which is qualitatively analyzed using Pontryagin's maximum principle and numerically simulated. Incremental cost-effectiveness analysis is conducted with the results of the numerical simulations. In this paper, a mathematical model based on COVID-19 is developed to study and manage disease outbreaks. The effect of vaccination with regard to its efficacy and percentage of population vaccinated in a closed population is investigated. Giardiasis is among the ignored zoonotic illnesses accorded by the World Health Organization that is caused by Giardia duodenalis. The disease is ignored regardless of the harm it causes to people and other creatures. In this paper, a mathematical model for giardiasis illness transmission is formed, which considers sickness carriers and control measures such as screening, treatment, and sanitation of the environment around people. In the assessment, the basic reproduction number, R 0 , which is used for analyzing the local stability of the equilibria is determined using the state-of-the-art next-generation matrix, while the Metzler constancy speculation is used to show the overall adequacy of the global stability of the equilibrium point free from the disease. In addition, a Lyapunov function has been used to study the stability of the endemic equilibrium point. The assessment of parameters is performed to explore the limits that significantly influence the transmission components of the disease disorders using the normalizing sensitivity index method. The result revealed that the recruitment rate is the most sensitive limit to the reproduction number. The environment-human interaction parameter is the second influential factor in the transmission of giardiasis in the community. In the same manner, the outcomes recommend that carriers assume an expected part in the rate of giardiasis subsequently; disregarding them could risk endeavors to control the pestilence. Besides, the mathematical recreation of the model shows that a mix of each of the three interventions fundamentally affects the control of giardiasis. Nipah virus (NiV) is a zoonotic virus that causes outbreaks of fatal disease in humans. Fruit bat, also known as the flying fox, is the animal host reservoir for NiV. It is known to cause illness in pigs, which are considered an intermediate host. In this paper, we propose a model for NiV disease transmission taking into account all human-to-host animal transmission as well as the loss of immunity in those who have recovered. Furthermore, we take into consideration seasonal effects such as varying transmission rate from bats and birth rate of bats. We studied the existence and uniqueness of a diseasefree ω-periodic solution and later deals with the basic reproduction number and stability analysis. To support the analytical results we provide numerical examples and assess the effect of parameter changes on disease dynamics, which might help to understand how to avoid a yearly periodic recurrence of the disease. The present paper studies pneumonia transmission dynamics by using fractal-fractional operators in the Atangana-Baleanu sense. Our model predicts pneumonia transmission dynamically. Our goal is to generalize five ODEs of the first order under the assumption of five unknowns (susceptible, vaccinated, carriers, infected, and recovered). The Atangana-Baleanu operator is used in addition to analysing existence, uniqueness, and non-negativity of solutions, local and global stability, Hyers-Ulam stability, and sensitivity analysis. As long as the basic reproduction number R0 is less than one, the free equilibrium point is local, asymptotic, or otherwise global. Our sensitivity statistical analysis shows that R0 is most sensitive to pneumonia disease density. Further, we compute a numerical solution for the model by using fractal-fractional. Graphs of the results are presented for demonstration of our proposed method. The results of the Atangana-Baleanu fractal-fractional scheme is in excellent agreement with the actual data.
