Background Major hepatectomy for liver malignancies carries with large risks. Perioperative nutritional support plays a vital role for postoperative recovery. However, there are few studies focusing on predictions of postoperative complications and prognosis using postoperative loss of skeletal muscle mass (PLSMM) in acute stage after major hepatectomy. Objective To identify the change inskeletal muscle index (SMI), and to investigate risk factors for PLSMM, as well as its correlation with postoperative complications after major hepatectomy for liver cancer. Methods A total of 97 patients who received major hepatectomy for liver cancer from Department of General Surgery, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University between July 2018 and August 2022 were included. The preoperative and postoperative day 5 skeletal muscle area at the third lumbar vertebra level was measured, respectively, using computed tomographic images. The postoperative change rate of SMI was calculated. The PLSMM was defined as the lowest tertile of the percent change in SMI, according to which the patients were divided into PLSMM and Non-PLSMM group. Baseline data, surgical and postoperative indices were collected and analyzed. Results SMI was decreased in 54 patients postoperatively. Thirty-two and 65 patients were assigned to the PLSMM group (SMI≤-3.59%) and Non-PLSMM groups (SMI>-3.59%), respectively. Compared with Non-PLSMM group, PLSMM group had longer operation time, more intraoperative blood loss and higher ratio of microvascular invasion (MVI) (P210 min〔OR=1.973, 95%CI (1.286, 4.936) 〕were risk factors associated with PLSMM (P210 min〔OR=2.958, 95%CI (0.918, 9.529) 〕 and blood loss >500 mL〔OR=1.003, 95%CI (1.001, 1.007) 〕 were risk factors associated with postoperative complications (P210 min were risk factors associated with PLSMM. PLSMM was the independent predictor of postoperative complications, which negatively affected postoperative outcomes after major hepatectomy.

Intelligent instrumentation plays a crucial role in industrial applications, with its measurement accuracy and reliability directly influencing operational efficiency. This article presents the integration of the HART communication protocol to enhance data transmission within smart instruments, focusing on internal structure and process control optimization. A HART smart instrument multiplexer system is established, utilizing an analog PID control algorithm for data regulation and optimal control techniques for automatic parameter adjustment. Additionally, the three-parameter Weibull distribution is employed to assess the reliability of smart meters, deriving distribution characteristics and estimating parameters through failure rate analysis. The performance of the designed HART smart meter multiplexer system is thoroughly evaluated, including control performance, reliability, channel function, and measurement accuracy. Notably, the system demonstrates a minimal overshoot in analog PID control at 0.911%, with a steady-state error range of -5°C to 4°C. Furthermore, the implementation of this system significantly reduces the risk of hazardous failures by 41.91%. In conditions of 350°C temperature and 1.2MPa pressure, the system accurately measures superheated steam flow with a relative error of only 0.05%. By optimizing the settings of smart instruments, this system not only enhances measurement accuracy in industrial production but also improves reliability, supporting diverse applications in the chemical industry.

The top deadly cancer sites in terms of global deaths are lung， stomach， liver， breast and colon cancers. In recent years， more and more studies have shown that cancer-related inflammation plays a crucial role in the development and prognosis of the cancer， such as neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio， monocyte-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-lymphocyte ratio. In 2014， the systemic immune inflammatory index （SII） was first defined. SII combined with peripheral platelets， lymphocytes and neutrophils serves as a comprehensive prognostic parameter， which reflects the balance of immune status and host inflammation more comprehensively than a single inflammatory index. Furthermore， it shows obvious advantages in predicting cancer prognosis. In this article， the application of SII in the prognosis of five common solid cancers was reviewed， aiming to provide the basis for clinical evaluation of cancer prognosis.

Abstract Background To explore the correlation between the preoperative systemic immune inflammation index (SII) and the prognosis of patients with gastric carcinoma (GC). Methods The clinical data of 771 GC patients surgically treated in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Qinghai University Affiliated Hospital from June 2010 to June 2015 were retrospectively analyzed, and their preoperative SII was calculated. The optimal cut-off value of preoperative SII was determined using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the confounding factors between the two groups were eliminated using the propensity score matching (PSM) method, and the correlation between preoperative SII and clinicopathological characteristics was assessed by chi-square test. Moreover, the overall survival was calculated using Kaplan-Meier method, the survival curve was plotted, and log-rank test was performed for the significance analysis between the curves. Univariate and multivariate analyses were also conducted using the Cox proportional hazards model. Results It was determined by the ROC curve that the optimal cut-off value of preoperative SII was 489.52, based on which 771 GC patients were divided into high SII (H-SII) group and low SII (L-SII) group, followed by PSM in the two groups. The results of Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that before and after PSM, the postoperative 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates in L-SII group were superior to those in H-SII group, and the overall survival rate had a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). Before PSM, preoperative SII [hazard ratio (HR) = 2.707, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.074-3.533, P < 0.001] was an independent risk factor for the prognosis of GC patients. After 1:1 PSM, preoperative SII (HR = 2.669, 95%CI 1.881–3.788, P < 0.001) was still an independent risk factor for the prognosis of GC patients. Conclusions Preoperative SII is an independent risk factor for the prognosis of GC patients. The increase in preoperative SII in peripheral blood indicates a worse prognosis.

Yak milk, known as the "liquid gold", is a nutritious food with extensive consumption. Compared with cow milk, yak milk contains higher levels of nutrients such as dry matter, milk fat, and milk protein, which demonstrates great potential for exploitation and utilization. Protein kinase cGMP-dependent 1 (PRKG1) is an important functional molecule in the cGMP signaling pathway, and its significant influence on milk fatty acids has been discovered. The aim of this study is to explore the correlation between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the PRKG1 gene and the quality traits of Gannan yak milk in order to identify candidate molecular markers for Gannan yak breeding. In this study, genotyping was performed on 172 healthy, 4–5-year-old lactating Gannan yaks with similar body types, naturally grazed, and two to three parity. Three SNPs (g.404195C>T, g.404213C>T, and g.760138T>C) were detected in the PRKG1 gene of Gannan yaks, which were uniformly distributed in the yak population. Linkage disequilibrium analysis was conducted, revealing complete linkage disequilibrium between g.404195C>T and g.404213C>T. After conducting a correlation analysis between SNPs in the PRKG1 gene and milk quality in Gannan yaks, we found that PRKG1 SNPs significantly increased the content of casein, protein, and SNFs in yak milk. Among them, the TT homozygous genotype at the PRKG1 g.404195C>T loci exhibited higher casein and protein contents compared to the CC and CT genotypes (p < 0.05). The SNP g.760138T>C locus was associated with casein, protein, SNFs, and TS traits (p < 0.05). The CC genotype had higher casein and protein contents than the TT and TA genotypes (p < 0.05). However, there were no significant differences in milk fat, lactose, and acidity among the three genotypes (p > 0.05). In summary, PRKG1 gene polymorphism can serve as a candidate molecular marker for improving milk quality in Gannan yaks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Radical reactions are powerful in the synthesis of diverse molecular scaffolds bearing functional groups. In previous review articles, we have presented 1,2-difunctionalizations, remote 1,3-, 1,4-, 1,5-, 1,6- and 1,7-difunctionalizations, and addition followed by cyclization reactions. Presented in this paper is radical cyclization followed by the second functionalization reaction. The second functionalization could be realized by atom transfer reactions, radical or transition metal-assisted coupling reactions, and reactions with neutral molecules, cationic and anionic species. This paper introduces a trapezoidal orthogonal stiffener steel plate shear wall (TSW). The finite element model of the TSW was developed following the validation of low-cycle repeated tests conducted on a single-span double-layer steel plate shear wall. The paper studies the effects of the flat steel plate thickness, stiffener thickness, stiffener height, and stiffener bottom width on the seismic performance of TSW. Building upon these findings, a theoretical formula for the ultimate shear capacity of TSW was developed. The results prove the following: (1) By changing the flat steel plate thickness, the stiffener thickness, and the stiffener height, the seismic behavior of TSW can be enhanced. It is suggested that the flat steel plate thickness is 4~6 mm, the stiffener thickness is 4~6 mm, and the stiffener height is not more than 60 mm, while the effect of the stiffener bottom width on the seismic behavior of TSW can be neglected. (2) The maximum error is 22.16%, compared to the theoretical value of TSW ultimate shear capacity with the finite element simulation value. However, as the finite element results surpass the test results, it indicates that the formula-derived results are unsafe, necessitating a recommendation for correction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
