This paper constructs a unique dataset of clean energy and adopts static panel models and dynamic panel specifications to explore the correlation between clean energy and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, this paper employs the interaction term of pilot areas and pilot time as the proxy of emission trading policy to examine the effect of China's emission trading pilot on clean energy. Then, this paper conducts quasi-natural experiments on CO2 emissions. Our findings show a negative correlation between CO2 emissions and clean energy. We also find that China's emission trading pilot has a significant impact on promoting clean energy. In addition, empirical results affirm that emission trading market pilots can help decrease CO2 emissions. Finally, we put forwards relevant policy recommendations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Data centers are a major source of carbon emissions and are subsequently contributing to global carbon footprints. Keeping in view of providing a sustainable solution to society, we have analyzed various factors that can help to achieve carbon neutrality and maximum sustainability. Our study pointed towards the need to follow a sustainable approach for incoming workflow throughout the life-cycle of Data centers. We analyzed that workloads need to be segregated before assigning them to the data centers so that energy-efficient resource allocation could be done. This paper demonstrates unsupervised learning techniques to cluster the incoming cloud workloads. The heterogeneous workloads were characterized using machine learning approaches and appropriate clusters were crafted. For analysis, Google Cluster Dataset is used. In order to improve the accuracy, data were normalized, and random samples of data were selected for clustering. Climate change imposes tighter limits on carbon emissions, which require the development of more green electricity. Deep sea wind power has the advantages of high wind energy density, high power generation utilization hours, no land occupation, and near to power load centers for easy on-site consumption, which lead to a broad market prospect. In the foreseeable future, deep sea wind power will usher in large-scale construction and development. The initial investment and construction cost of deep sea wind power is high, subsidies are gradually decreasing, and there is a lack of full life cycle economic analysis combined with various market policies, resulting in a lack of guidance for its investment and construction. In order to promote the development of deep sea wind power, relevant cost recovery mechanisms must be found. This paper proposes a system cost allocation method based on the comparative difference method and load similarity with consideration of the transformation and operation costs of thermal power, demand-side response, and energy storage; a cost allocation method based on carbon trading and green certificate trading income is proposed; and a time sequence optimization operation simulation model is established to maximize the deep sea wind power income. A case study is proposed for a 300 MW deep sea wind farm, the results show that the cost allocation method and cost allocation model proposed in this paper have a significant effect on wind power cost recovery, and the effectiveness of the proposed method and model is verified. Encouraging farmers to adopt greener and cleaner energy is crucial for reducing energy pollution and achieving carbon neutrality goals. In rural China, the decision making of farmers is often closely related to the whole family. At different stages of the family life cycle, the family has different characteristics, which leads to heterogeneity in the focus and final decision of farmers in adopting living clean energy. Therefore, this paper studies the farmers' living clean energy adoption behavior from the perspective of the family life cycle. It is helpful to identify the different policy needs and the evolution of farmers in different stages in order to provide a reference and inspiration for encouraging the adoption of living clean energy by farmers and for promoting the development of clean energy in rural areas. Based on the survey data of 1382 farmers in Jiangxi Province, this paper uses a multiple linear regression model to explore the impact of the family life cycle on farmers' clean energy adoption behavior. The results show the following: (1) The family life cycle has a significant impact on farmers' living clean energy adoption behavior, which is reflected in four aspects: energy demand, livelihood strategy, health demand and support burden; (2) Awareness of environmental ecology and frequency of government promotion have significant positive effects on farmers' living clean energy adoption behavior, while gender has significant negative effects on farmers' clean energy adoption behavior; (3) There are also differences in the influencing factors of farmers' living clean energy adoption behavior at different stages of the family life cycle. Therefore, when promoting clean energy in rural areas, a precise clean energy incentive mechanism should be adopted to treat families in different family life cycle stages differently. In order to achieve the ambitious goal of "carbon neutrality", countries around the world are striving to develop clean energy. Against this background, this paper takes China and Italy as representatives of developing and developed countries to summarize the energy structure composition and development overview of the two countries. The paper analyzes the serious challenges facing the future energy development of both countries and investigates the possibilities of energy cooperation between the two countries, taking into account their respective advantages in energy development. By comparing the policies issued by the two governments to encourage clean energy development, this paper analyzes the severe challenges faced by the two countries' energy development in the future and combines their respective energy development advantages to look forward to the possibility of energy cooperation between the two countries in the future. The double-carbon goal proposal has made it imperative for China's power industry to address the urgent issue of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants and promoting their clean and efficient use. A new approach to achieving peak-shaving and improving grid stability is the combination of carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities with coal-fired power plants, which offers a strategic solution for mitigating climate change. Nonetheless, the viability of CCS retrofitting for coal-fired power plants in China hinges on its economic feasibility. The technical characteristics, economic analysis, and policy implications of clean coal-fired power plant equipped with CCS (CCP-CCS) technologies are evaluated in the paper. A comparison of the characteristics of different clean coal power generation technologies, including capacity, efficiency, coal consumption, and environmental performance, is conducted. The paper analyzes the economic feasibility of four typical clean coal power generation technologies, namely Supercritical (SC), Ultra-supercritical (USC), Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC), and Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB), both with and without CCS, using the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) model. Financial parameters, investment parameters, operation and maintenance parameters, tax parameters, and capacity parameters are all considered in the LCOE model. The results indicate: (1) If CCS is not installed, the LCOE of USC power plants is the lowest at 0.37 yuan/kWh, while the LCOE of IGCC power plants is the highest at 0.44 yuan/kWh. (2) If CCS is installed, the LCOE of CFB units is the highest at 0.74 yuan/kWh, while the LCOE of USC units is the lowest at 0.60 yuan/kWh. (3) In sensitivity analysis, coal prices have the most significant impact on LCOE, followed by expected annual operating hours, while the cost of carbon capture equipment is the least sensitive. (4) The cost of retrofitting CCS on clean coal-fired power plants (CCP) is currently high, with an LCOE increase of around 40 to 70%, which is comparable to that of renewable energy electricity. This paper presents policy recommendations, including preferential loans, tax incentives, and R&D funding, to promote the development of CCP in China based on the economic analysis results and challenges faced by CCP. Additionally, the paper proposes relevant policy implications such as preferential loan policies, a diversified financing system, R&D and innovation, and the establishment of a carbon trading market for CCS in China to provide practical guidance for the promotion of CCP-CCS technologies in China. With the acceleration of urbanization and industrialization, carbon neutrality and peak carbon dioxide emissions have become common sustainability goals worldwide. However, there are few literature statistics and econometric analyses targeting carbon neutrality and peak carbon dioxide emissions, especially the publication trends, geographic distribution, citation literature, and research hotspots. To conduct an in-depth analysis of existing research fields and future perspectives in this research area, 1615 publications from the Web of Science Core Collection, between 2010 and 2020, were evaluated by using three analysis tools, under the framework of the bibliometrics method. These publications are distributed between the start-up (2010–2015) and the stable development (2016–2020) phases. Cluster analysis suggests three areas of ongoing research: energy-related carbon emissions, methane emissions, and energy biomass. Overall, future trends in this field include cumulative carbon emissions, the residential building sector, methane emission measurement, nitrogen fertilization, land degradation neutrality, and sciamachy satellite methane measurement. Finally, this paper further examines the most comprehensive coverage of nitrogen fertilization and the most recent research of the residential building sector. In view of the statistical clusters from 1615 publications, this paper provides new insights and perspectives for climate-environment-related researchers and policymakers. Specifically, countries could apply nitrogen fertilizer to crops according to the conditions of different regions. Additionally, experiences from developed countries could be learned from, including optimizing the energy supply structure of buildings and increasing the use of clean energy to reduce CO2 emissions from buildings. Utilizing a dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) model, this paper critically assesses the potential distortions and efficacy of various revenue-neutral carbon emission trading schemes (ETSs) in China, through government subsidies and value-added tax (VAT) relief strategies aimed at achieving peak carbon emissions before 2030. The analysis reveals that reallocating market revenues to the production sector, either through government subsidies or VAT reductions, can feasibly attain carbon peaking before 2030, with minimal impact on GDP. Notably, both government subsidies and VAT cuts foster output growth in the oil, gas, and ETS-covered sectors. Moreover, directing carbon market revenue toward ETS-covered industries via VAT relief emerges as the most effective approach to reducing income disparities. In contrast, redistributing carbon market revenue to non-ETS-covered industries via VAT relief is found to be the least effective in promoting social equity. The study emphasizes that the reallocation of carbon market revenues to ETS-covered sectors is paramount. This strategy not only regulates the overall energy consumption effectively but also steers the nation towards a more sustainable and optimized energy consumption pattern. In light of these findings, this paper offers detailed insights and tailored policy recommendations, aiming to assist policymakers in striking a balance between environmental goals and economic and social imperatives. To address the challenges posed by global climate change, developing green energy systems characterized by informatization, digitalization, and intelligence is crucial for achieving carbon neutrality. This article is a research report type paper on water source heat pump (WSHP) energy stations, aiming to use digital twin technology and other information technologies to resolve conflicts between clean energy development and efficient energy utilization. The primary objective of this study is to identify and analyze issues in traditional energy station operations and management systems. Based on this analysis, specific technical solutions are proposed, including pathways for technological research, methodologies, and content. The results provide a comprehensive theoretical framework for the intelligent transformation of energy station systems and essential technical support for the WSHP energy station project in the Hankou Binjiang International Business District. The pursuit of economic growth has implications for carbon emissions and climate change. Achieving low carbon development is important for attaining the targets of the sustainable development goals. Africa is often described as a largely import-dependent continent. The continent also requires significant investment in information and communication technologies (ICT) and renewable energy to achieve low-carbon economic growth. However, empirical evidence on the joint impacts of imports of goods and services, clean energy use, ICT, and economic growth on carbon emissions in Africa is scanty and mixed. This paper investigated the impacts of information and communication technologies, renewable energy consumption, import and economic growth on carbon emissions by using rich data on total per capita carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, economic growth, import of goods and services, renewable energy consumption, fixed telephone subscriptions, mobile cellular subscriptions, and individuals using the internet in Africa (2001 ─ 2020) obtained from the World development indicators (WDI) database. Using the Panel autoregressive distributed lag model (PARDL), we found that mobile cellular subscriptions, and level of economic growth significantly increased per capita CO2 emissions in Africa in the long run while renewable energy consumption and technologies and import of goods and services significantly decreased per capita CO2 emissions in the long run. We conclude that information and communication technologies, level of economic growth, import of goods and services, and renewable energy consumption exert impacts on carbon emissions in Africa. This research investigated the impacts of information and communication technologies, renewable energy consumption, import and economic growth on carbon emissions in Africa. Green innovation is an important driving force for energy firms to improve their competitive advantage and an important path to achieve the goals of "carbon neutrality" and "carbon peaking." This paper examines whether and how executives' foreign experience influences green innovation in Chinese energy firms. Using data on the foreign experience of executives, we discover that the foreign executives' experience is positively correlated with corporate green innovation. Potential mechanisms analyses imply that enhancement of environmental ethics and comprehensive competency are two important channels by which foreign experience of executives influences green innovation. In addition, moderating effects indicate that the positive association between the foreign experience of executives and green innovation is dominant in energy firms with fewer financing constraints, state-owned energy firms, and firms with less market competition. Finally, we find that the positive impact of executives' foreign experience on corporate green innovation is different in aspects such as the subindustries, whether executives have U.S. experience, length of stay abroad, the age of executives going abroad and positions, while there is no significant difference in different types of foreign experience. Integrated energy system (IES) has become significant in the global energy revolution because of its unique advantage of promoting clean energy use and improving energy efficiency. However, its low-carbon operational optimization and capacity allocation challenges have sharply increased because, as its scale continuously grows, its inherent strongly coupled multi energy flow and high nonlinearity characteristics have become more prominent. This study proposes a distributed low-carbon operational optimization mechanism for an IES using integrated demand response (IDR) and ladder carbon trading (LCT). First, a low-carbon IES was modeled as a coupled model between energy operators (EO) that contain combined cooling, heating, and power systems (CCHP) and flexible users (FU) based on the Stackelberg game. Second, the operational optimization model was formulated as a source-load synergistic operation scheduling mechanism based on IDR and the LCT. Finally, the strategy of each stakeholder was obtained using a modified distributed algorithm of genetic algorithm nested quadratic programming (GA-QP). The effectiveness of the proposed model was verified through a case study. The economic benefits for each stakeholder improved, as confirmed through the experimental results. The energy cost of the FU decreased by 4.42%, and the revenue from energy sales of the EO increased by 11.9%; renewable energy was prioritized for consumption, with a consumption rate of 100%; the total output of the core devices for energy cascade utilization increased by 15.6%, significantly improving energy supply efficiency; the total carbon emissions decreased by 8.64%; and power and heat loss rates were 0% and 0.00059%, respectively. Achieving zero energy consumption in buildings is one of the most effective ways of achieving 'carbon neutrality' and contributing to a green and sustainable global development. Currently, BIPV systems are one of the main approaches to achieving zero energy in buildings in many countries. This paper presents the evolution of BIPV systems and predicts their future trends by deriving a base sample of core papers on BIPV systems from 2012 to 2022 from the Web of Science core database and conducting a bibliometric study using CiteSpace scientific visualisation software. To gain a deeper understanding and grasp of the research progress of BIPV systems, research group discovery, research hotspot analysis, and research frontier detection of the relevant literature were conducted. (1) Research groups on the topic were summarised through author coupling network, publication distribution, and country mapping analysis; (2) Research hotspots on the topic were explored through keyword co-occurrence, keyword emergence, and time zone map analysis; (3) Research hotspots on the topic were explored through literature co-citation timeline maps, literature co-citation categories, and literature co-citation clustering analysis to detect the frontiers of research in the field. Finally, we conclude that research trends in BIPV systems are mainly in the areas of heat transfer, thermal performance, renewable energy, solar cell and renewable building materials, and evaluation systems. In the future, BIPV research and applications will move towards interdisciplinary and multinational cooperation, which will maximise the benefits of clean energy conversion in buildings. As a raw material for clean energy supply for the new generation, the soybean is conducive to the realization of global energy transition and sustainable development in the context of "carbon neutrality". However, global warming has been affecting soybean yields in recent years. How to clarify the correlation between meteorological factors and soybean yields, so as to ensure the security of soybean growth and development and the stability of renewable energy development, is a key concern of the government and academia. Based on the data of temperature, precipitation, sunshine duration and active accumulated temperature during the soybean growing season in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from 1951 to 2019, and soybean yield data of the city from 1985 to 2019, this paper adopted statistical methods such as the Trend Analysis Method, the Rescaled Range Analysis Method and so on to analyze the trends of yield changes, characteristics of abrupt changes and periodic patterns of climate factors and soybean yields in Hulunbuir. A Pearson Correlation Analysis and a Grey Relation Analysis were used to explore the correlation between climatic factors and soybean yields, followed by a comprehensive impact model of the combined effect of temperature and precipitation on soybean yields established by the Method of Integral Regression. The results showed that temperature and active accumulated temperature are the dominant factors affecting soybean yields in Hulunbuir, while the decrease in precipitation is unfavorable to the improvement of soybean yields. Meanwhile, temperature and precipitation have different effects on the growth and development of the soybean at different stages. The increasing trend of energy generation and management systems towards decentralized structures such as using renewable energy resources makes it necessary to use digital and smart platforms for exchanging information and even conducting financial transactions in a decentralized manner, known as the peer‐to‐peer model. The decentralized transaction verification of cryptocurrencies makes it possible to use these encrypted currencies and decentralized blockchain networks in energy management systems and carry out financial transactions related to carbon trading. Carbon and other greenhouse gas (GHG) emission trading systems reduce the competitiveness of fossil fuel projects in the market and accelerate investment in low‐carbon energy sources such as wind and photovoltaic power generation units. This market mechanism allows large entities such as countries and companies that emit GHGs into the atmosphere to buy and sell these gases. This paper reviews the blockchain solutions developed for carbon markets. Studies related to the design of smart contracts in the platform of blockchain are investigated. Special cryptocurrencies that are used in the field of green energy transactions and carbon trading are introduced. In addition, the application of artificial intelligence and game theory in energy trading is stated. The study of different blockchain frameworks for carbon trading shows that the use of decentralized platforms in carbon trading can have a significant impact on the trend towards low‐carbon measures and achieving the goals of the Kyoto Treaty, increasing the value of green cryptocurrencies and the volume of transactions. Hydrogen has been widely recognised as a versatile and environmentally-friendly energy carrier, with a broad range of potential applications across various sectors. The abundance of hydrogen in the universe and its high energy content makes it an attractive alternative to conventional fossil fuels. Moreover, the utilization of hydrogen does not produce greenhouse gases or other pollutants that contribute to air pollution and climate change. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in developing and deploying hydrogen technologies for a sustainable energy future. This paper provides an in-depth exploration of the potential of hydrogen as a clean energy source in different sectors, such as transportation, energy storage, power generation, industry, buildings, maritime transport, and aviation. The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of the current state of hydrogen applications in Europe and the Baltic States, including examples of ongoing projects and initiatives, and to assess the advantages and disadvantages of hydrogen technologies in different sectors. The main results of the paper highlight that hydrogen has the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon neutrality targets. However, the deployment of hydrogen technologies also faces various challenges such as high production costs, lack of infrastructure, and safety concerns. The tasks of the paper are to provide an insight into the potential of hydrogen, identify the challenges and limitations, and highlight ongoing research and development efforts in this field. The paper concludes that the widespread adoption of hydrogen technologies is a long-term goal that requires the cooperation of various stakeholders and the development of innovative and cost-effective solutions. Despite the challenges, the current state of hydrogen applications and ongoing projects in Europe and the Baltic States demonstrate that hydrogen has the potential to play a significant role in the transition to a sustainable and low-carbon future. The strategic goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" has promoted further reform of the global energy system. Additionally, coal is still the dominate form of energy consumption. Underground coal gasification, which changes the method of coal utilization, is an important way to execute clean coal development and clean utilization, and is also an effective method for the development of deep coal resources, belonging to the technical category of clean energy resources. Compared with the traditional method of coal mining surface gasification, it has obvious advantages of being economical, safe and environmentally friendly. After high-temperature gasification, the physicochemical properties of the residues in the three reaction zones of UCG are significantly different from those of the raw coal. Therefore, this paper summarizes the transformation characteristics and the evolution of organic matter and minerals during UCG. Moreover, the paper analyzes the transformation of pore structure caused by UCG and its influencing mechanism, and discusses the possible utilization of UCG residue based on its physicochemical properties. The results show that: (1) after the UCG, the gasification center residue was mainly composed of acidic and alkaline oxides, accompanied by glassy silica that wrapped the carbon residue, which was located far from the gasification center. Due to the weakening of the oxygen supply, the chemical reaction changed from oxidation to reduction, and the influence of baking on the pyrolysis of coal and minerals gradually weakened. Furthermore, the organic carbon content in the residue gradually increased, whereas the inorganic mineral content decreased. Additionally, the thermal decomposition declined. In the boundary between the dry distillation zone and the raw coal, the organic skeleton of coal and inorganic minerals remained basically unchanged. (2) It is suitable for carbonation to sequestrate CO2 for the oxidation residue after the oxidation process because the residue was composed of slag, whereas the baked roof rock fell off. It is suitable for high-pressure adsorption to sequestrate CO2 in the reduction coal due to the porous and high specific surface of the pyrolysis coal. Some pyrolytic minerals were conducive to mineralization to sequestrate CO2. The dry distillated coal had higher specific surface area and volume of pores in the dry distillation zone than those of the raw coal, whereas the values were lower than those of the reduction zone. The pyrolysis of minerals was not obvious, and the carbonation of CO2 was relatively low. The study points out that CO2 sequestration in the UCG space is an important way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the dual carbon peak and neutralization targets. The use of UCG cavities for CO2 sequestration is important for achieving the strategic goal of carbon neutrality. However, the current research on CO2 sequestration using UCG cavities is at the theoretical stage, further field tests are lacking and the commercialization process of CO2 sequestration has not yet been realized. In several rural areas of China, ecological public welfare work is an effective way to improve farmers' social participation. This job does not only increase farmers' income but also greatly improves their enthusiasm for ecological environment protection. Under the goal of carbon neutrality in peak carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, it is necessary to explore the impact of ecological public welfare jobs on the usage of Clean Energy (CE) in rural areas. Based on the data of 1100 farmers from Tibet areas in China, this paper applied the Ordered Probit model to explore the impact of ecological public welfare jobs on farmers' use of CE. The results are as follows: (1) Holding ecological public welfare jobs can raise farmers' willingness to use CE; (2) Holding ecological public welfare jobs can also promote farmers' use of CE by enhancing their ecological environment cognition and influencing their social behavior; (3) The impact of ecological public welfare work on CE use has regional and income heterogeneities. With the growth of electricity consumers purchasing green energy and the development of digital energy trading platforms, the role of digitalized retail electricity markets in the low-carbon transition of electric energy systems is becoming increasingly crucial. In this circumstance, the research work on retail electricity markets needs to be further analyzed and expanded, which would facilitate the efficient decision-making of both market players and policymakers. First, this paper introduces the latest developments in the retail electricity market under low-carbon energy transition and analyzes the limitations of the existing research works. Second, from three aspects of power trading strategy, retail pricing methodology, and market risk management, it provides an overview of the existing operation and mechanism design strategies of the retail electricity market; then, it provides a systematic introduction to the evaluation system and monitoring methodology of electricity markets, which is not sufficient for the current digitalized retail electricity markets. Finally, the issues regarding operation evaluation and platform optimization of the current digitalized retail electricity market are summarized, and the research topics worth further investigations are recommended. Responding to the Paris Agreement and climate change mitigation, Indonesia aims to reach net zero by 2060 or sooner. Due to Indonesia's dependence on coal and growing consumption, alternative sources of clean energy are imperative for meeting its rising energy needs and reducing energy-related greenhouse gas emissions to achieve the energy transition. This project aims to examine Indonesia's opportunities and potential to achieve low carbon ambition in the energy sector and identify alternative pathways for the energy transition in Indonesia. In this study, the open-source energy modelling system (OSeMOSYS), which is a long-term energy system modelling tool, is employed to compare electricity generation, investment, and carbon dioxide emissions between business-as-usual and five alternative scenarios. Six scenarios, including business as usual, least-cost, two coal-phrase out and two net zero aligned with national climate targets and optimal scenarios, were simulated across different target years. The results show that the net zero (NZ) scenario is more cost-effective and emits fewer greenhouse gases than the other scenarios in meeting Indonesia's future energy demand. However, achieving net zero by 2050 (NZ50) results in significantly lower CO2 emissions (10,134 MtCO2), which is less than half of the emissions in the net zero by 2060 (NZ60) scenario (16,849 MtCO2) at a similar cost (6229 and 6177 billion USD, respectively). The scale of human accidents and the resultant damage has increased due to recent large-scale urban (building) fires, meaning there is a need to devise an effective strategy for urban disasters. In the event of a fire, it is difficult to evacuate in the early stages due to the loss of detection function, difficulty in securing visibility, and confusion over evacuation routes. Accordingly, for rapid evacuation and rescue, it is necessary to build a city-level fire safety service and digital system based on smart technology. In addition, both forest and building fires emit a large amount of carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of global warming. Therefore, we need to prepare both energy and fire management to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. In this study, we developed an AI-based smart fire safety system for efficient urban integrated management using a city-based fire safety architecture. In addition, we designed a fire management infrastructure and an energy management system for buildings. The proposal was demonstrated by building a test bed in the A building, and the AR-based mobile/web application was tested for optimized evacuation management. Furthermore, AI-based fire detection and the optimal evacuation of occupants were implemented through deep learning-based fire information data analysis. As a result, this paper presents four points for safety and energy management, and we demonstrate that the optimization of occupant evacuation ability and energy saving can be achieved. We also analyze the efficiency of the data transfer rate to prevent data communication delays by using Virtual Edge Gateway (VEG) management. In the future, we expect that the appearance of future fire and energy management buildings through this research will produce more accurate data prediction technology and the development of cutting-edge smart technology in smart city infrastructures. In recent years, the concept of green, low-carbon and clean energy consumption has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and countries have actively advocated the use of new energy. In the face of problems such as resource shortage and environmental pollution, we began to explore the use of new fuels instead of coal for production. Biomass resources have the characteristics of being renewable and carbon neutral and having large output. As an energy utilization, it is helpful to promote the transformation of the energy structure in various countries. Applying it to ironmaking production is not only conducive to energy conservation and emission reduction in the ironmaking process but also can achieve efficient utilization of crop waste. By introducing the source and main preparation methods of biochar, this paper expounds the main links and advantages of biochar in the ironmaking process and puts forward the direction of biochar in ironmaking in the future. China's power sector must cut its carbon emissions by 90% by 2060 to become carbon neutral. Green finance, as a crucial link in sustainable development, is garnering attention for its role as a mechanism for the green transformation of power enterprises. The process of green transformation development is highly challenging and requires a lot of financial support. This paper discusses the design of schemes for fiscal and financial support mechanisms for the green transformation of power enterprises, financing mechanisms to strengthen green finance, and financial support mechanisms to promote carbon trading. The utilization of green finance by power enterprises is assessed after defining the impact routes of green finance on clean energy power firms and highly polluting power firms. Using the SBM-GML model with variable returns to scale, the dynamic change of the use efficiency of green finance in power enterprises is calculated. At the same time, the enterprises are classified by power generation methods, and the changes in the power generation structure of power enterprises are analyzed. Compared with 2014, the total power generation in 2021 increased by 59.14%, wind power generation increased by 170.78%, and photovoltaic power generation increased by 974.31%. Hydropower, by contrast, grew by 94.14% and thermal power by only 45.09%. The results show that the evolution of total factor productivity and green total factor productivity of the 24 listed electric power enterprises is "M" shaped, that the main cause of the fluctuation is the serious phenomenon of "Triple Abandonments" of wind, light, and water in China's power industry, and that the main means to improve total factor productivity and green total factor productivity of the power industry is to improve green power production technology. Classified by power generation mode, it is found that hybrid power generation enterprises have the highest average efficiency value, followed by wind power generation. China's power enterprises are still dominated by thermal power generation; before the "Double Carbon" target, green power generation enterprises have not significantly improved the efficiency of green finance. The series of green finance mechanisms of action described in this study have a beneficial impact on the green transition of energy, according to a predictive analysis that combines existing policy objectives and practical mechanisms. Even without green financial support, the composition of China's major clean energy sources will account for 86.85% of total electricity generation by 2060, while with green financial support, coal generation will fall to 0% around 2056, with hydroelectric, wind, and photovoltaic generation accounting for 11.81%, 50.00%, and 38.19% of electricity sources, respectively, and green finance will drive important technological changes, and the "Triple Abandonments" phenomenon will be fundamentally corrected. As a financial innovation model to promote sustainable economic development, carbon finance promotes green and inclusive economic development by reshaping the financial system. As a big energy consumer, China has been committed to the green transformation of energy structure, and carbon finance has been regarded as an important tool to support carbon emission reduction. This paper divides carbon finance from three levels, financial macro, environmental governance, and technological development, and selects 17 indexes to measure the development level of carbon finance in China. Time series regression model and the entropy weight method (EWM) are used to analyze the impact of carbon finance on China's energy consumption structure. The empirical results show that carbon finance plays a positive role in promoting China's energy consumption structure, and developing carbon finance is conducive to the use of clean energy and the optimization of energy consumption structure in China; carbon finance can further optimize China's energy consumption structure by investing capital, resources, and technology in industries related to promoting clean energy consumption. Therefore, China should continue to develop carbon finance and promote the establishment of a unified national carbon trading market; at the same time, China should use the CCER trading mechanism to promote the development of renewable energy and enhance the endogenous driving force of energy transformation by promoting technological progress. In this paper, we deviate from the existing literature by disentangling the independent variables into their positive and negative changes to capture asymmetric and dynamic multiplier effects of renewable energy and globalization on carbon neutrality targets within the framework of the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model. In doing this, the paper uses South African data for the period 1990 to 2018 and the results show that CO2 emissions respond differently to the positive and negative shocks in renewable energy, globalization, and economic growth. The effect of a positive shock in economic growth is inelastic and positively related to CO2 emissions while a negative shock in economic growth has an elastic and negative effect on CO2 emissions. These results hold for both long-run and short-run periods. In the case of globalization, the positive shock increases CO2 emissions while the negative shock decreases CO2 emissions; although the long-run effect of a negative shock is elastic and insignificant while the short-run negative shock exerts an inelastic and significant effect on CO2 emissions. Furthermore, both the upward and downward shocks in renewable energy consumption transmit a negative effect on CO2 emissions in the long-run and short-run periods. Therefore, the paper suggests among others that to effectively decarbonize the South African economy, the use of subsidies, tax credits, tax holidays, and a host of others on green energy activities need to be enhanced as incentives for promoting cleaner energy production and consumption. The allocation mechanism for carbon emissions permit(CEP) is an institutional guarantee for advancing the development of China's unified carbon trading market. The initial allocation of carbon quotas fails to solve new inequalities stemming from subsidizing cleaner production. This paper constructs a theoretical framework that describes China's progressive decline in carbon intensity, calculates the equilibrium solution on the neoclassical saddle point path using the shooting method, and studies the income distribution imbalance caused by cleaner production subsidies and the reallocation mechanism of carbon emissions permit The main conclusion is that the incremental cleaner production subsidy policy meets the goal of maximizing welfare on the saddle point path, but it may lead to over-investment in the clean sector, thus causing the income distribution imbalance among entities. Further research suggests that the amount of carbon emissions permit acquired by the clean sector should be higher than the actual emissions in the trading market and that, as the cleaner support increases, the share of carbon emissions permit acquired by the sector should be constantly increased through reallocation mechanism. China has the largest energy system in the world, with fossil energy accounting for 84%. The carbon neutrality target calls for peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2060. By then, the non-fossil energy will account for over 80% of China's energy mix. Based on China's national conditions, this paper makes scenario analysis of carbon peaking in 2030. The results of this paper indicate that the peak values of carbon emission in 2030 depends on both the development of clean energy and the growth of energy power demand. Therefore, the growth rate of the two should be balanced to control the peak carbon emission. High-quality economic growth in China in the context of carbon neutrality requires "double decoupling", namely, decoupling GDP from the consumption of fossil energy and the growth of energy power demand as much as possible. To this end, this paper proposes a systematic solution considering both the demand and supply sides, with market-oriented measures that are workable for it. Ensuring the safe and stable supply of energy (power) is the basic principle of clean and low-carbon economic transformation, as well as a major challenge for energy system transformation. Deep geothermal resources mainly refer to the thermal energy stored in subsurface rocks and fluids therein at a depth of 3e10 km, which is a kind of renewable and sustainable clean energy unaffected by weather and seasonal changes. Large scale exploitation of the deep geothermal resources is of great significance to ensuring national energy security and achieving the "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality". Based on the latest terrestrial heat flow data, this paper estimated the potential of deep geothermal resources in the terrestrial areas of China, and the results show that the total amount of geothermal resources within 3-10 km under the Earth's surface in the terrestrial areas of China is 24.6 x 1015 GJ. In line with climate zones categorized, the geothermal resource proportion is 43.81% for severe cold regions, 29.19% for cold regions, 6.92% for mild regions, 13.82% for hot summer and cold winter regions, and 6.26% for hot summer and warm winter regions. Statistics according to the burial depth range reveal that the resources within depth ranges of 3-5 km, 5-7 km and 7-10 km under the Earth's surface are 4.3119 x 1015 GJ, 6.37674 x 1015 GJ and 13.89594 x 1015 GJ respectively, showing an increasing trend of geothermal potential with increasing burial depth. The deep geothermal resources are mainly of medium-to-high temperature reserves, and the energy supply strategy can be optimized by combining the climate conditions and population distribution, as well as considering power generation. In regions of cold or severe cold climate, the geothermal resources may be applied to geothermal power generation and district heating in combination; in regions of hot summer and cold winter or mild climates, the resources can be used for geothermal power generation combined with cooling and heating; in regions of hot summer and warm winter climates, the resources may be applied to geothermal power generation combined with cooling and industrial and agricultural utilization. Exploitation of deep geothermal resources also can be combined with carbon dioxide sequestration, multi-mineral resources extraction and energy storage to realize comprehensive exploitation and utilization of various energy resources. It is suggested that theoretical technology research should be combined with pilot tests and field demonstrations, and large-scale economic exploitation of deep geothermal resources should be arranged in a coordinated manner, following the principles of overall planning and step-by-step implementation. Disc pumps have obvious advantages in dealing with difficult-to-pump media. Energy efficiency and sustainable energy management are important topics with regard to reducing costs and promoting carbon neutrality. Though the concept of the disc pump was proposed in the 1850s, development was slow and limited by its initial model. However, with the development of industries such as petrochemicals and food, the efficient pumping of difficult-to-pump media is much needed, but facing challenges. Therefore, research on energy-efficient disc pumps is particularly important moving forward. In this paper, the available information from the open literature about the research and development of the disc pump will be thoroughly reviewed. It focuses on the historical development, energy efficiency and physical model application of the disc pump. The review ends with a proposal for the direction of future development, and in this aspect, it is proposed that the energy efficiency prediction model based on velocity slip theory, the energy management system based on multi-scenarios and the design method based on energy conversion theory are important. Carbon reduction programs are being introduced for carbon neutrality and energy transition to clean energy sources in various sectors, such as energy, buildings, transportation, and agriculture. In the residential electricity energy of the energy sector, the time-of-use (TOU) rate plan, which employs dynamic rates depending on energy usage times based on the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), is being implemented for efficient electricity energy consumption. For broad expansion of the TOU rate plan, customers need information about its benefits, such as potential savings on electricity bills. In this paper, we first analyze the statistical characteristics of electricity energy usage using the metering data collected from 10 apartment complexes through AMI and develop a model to calculate the electricity bill savings. We next introduce examples of major home appliances, of which usage times can be shifted, and offer projected bill savings from the developed model. We analyze the examples from both the perspectives of households and apartment complexes. The information from this analysis is helpful in practically investigating customers' willingness to shift the usage time for a successful implementation of the demand response program. In light of the carbon neutrality goals set post-Paris Climate Conference (COP21), this study delves into the relationship between green technology innovations, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions in China, spanning the period of 1990 to 2021. The objective of this paper is to creatively present the idea of a low-carbon digital economy from the viewpoint of digital technology. Utilizing the Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) model, we scrutinize this relationship, employing unit-root testing to verify the integrative attributes of the variables, inclusive of structural break data. Further analysis using the bootstrap Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) bound testing method corroborates the relationship between these key variables. The study reveals unidirectional co-integration over time among green technology innovations, renewable and non-renewable energy, per capita income, population, and CO2 emissions as per the Granger causality test. Interestingly, our findings suggest that while green technology innovation, per capita income, and renewable energy contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, non-renewable energy consumption and population growth exacerbate them. These insights offer valuable guidance for policymakers in formulating comprehensive strategies to enhance environmental quality through the promotion of renewable energy and green technology innovations, with a specific emphasis on the Chinese context. Electricity, as a sustainable energy carrier, plays a central role in the transition scenarios for carbon neutralization of energy systems. Expanding the potential of electricity requires intelligent integration of electricity infrastructures and electricity markets with distributed energy resources (DERs) including roof‐top solar photovoltaics (PVs), controllable loads, and storage batteries. This integration will advance the management of power distribution grids, resulting in harmonization of the distribution grids and variable renewable generation. In the foreseeable future, the DERs will be actively used to perform advanced management of power distribution grids and compensate fluctuation in variable renewable power generation such as PVs and wind power. Market‐based coordination mechanisms are already practiced in large‐scale electricity production, electricity trading and transmission around the world. Using these mechanisms at the distribution grid level to integrate numerous flexible devices into the grids remains an important research topic. This paper reviews the role of DER integration toward carbon‐neutral power systems, the state‐of‐art and challenges associated with market‐based approaches for integrating flexible demand, distributed generation, and storage. Assessing the causal relationships between clean energy consumption and economic growth in China, a central actor in the world's climate future, have received considerable attention among scholars. However, due to the lack of methodological rigour in the causality analysis, available literature failed to provide solid inferences on the links between the variables. Therefore, this study aims to re-examine the variables' dynamic linkages with a more well-established approach from 1965 to 2020. We use a time-varying framework that relaxes the assumption of parameter stability, a remarkable feature that distinguishes our paper from the previous studies. Utilizing the conventional Granger causality test, we fail to detect causation between the variables. However, the evidence of substantial time variation in the causal relationships implies that the standard framework's inference is unreliable. The findings of our time-varying analysis indicate different forms of causality flows in various subperiods. This can be a dependable reason for China to follow its enhanced carbon neutrality target safely. Afterwards the literature is reviewed from three major perspectives: energy saving, visual comfort, and low carbon. Current research is mainly on luminaire arrangement, auxiliary lighting and other measures to reduce energy consumption. Visual comfort is mainly improved by optimizing the light environment's physical quantities, e.g. luminance, color temperature, color rendering etc. Current measures to achieve low carbon targets include green energy, green photoconductivity, green luminaires and green operation. Based on China's empirical data from 2000 to 2020 of 1875 county-level administrative units, combined with the multi-phase by the propensity score matching and difference-in-difference (PSM-DID) model, this paper studies the impact of clean energy demonstration province policies on the carbon intensity of pilot counties, and its further impact on carbon emissions and economic development level. The results showed that 1. from a county-level perspective, although the economic development level of the pilot areas of clean energy demonstration provinces has improved as the carbon emissions have also increased, what is more, the carbon intensity has also significantly improved in this process; 2. there is no time lag in the impact of policies on the carbon intensity of counties, and the impact effects gradually increase over time along with strong regional heterogeneity; 3. the clean energy demonstration policy has weakened the technological level of the county and reduced the proportion of industrial-added value to GDP, thereby increasing the carbon intensity of the county through these intermediaries. Guangxi is a typical developing region on the southern coast of China. The current issues encountered in the region's development are that fossil energy accounts for about 80% of the energy structure, fossil fuels are heavily dependent on imports, and the self-sufficiency rate of resources is only 32%. These challenges have created a disparity between the current regional development state and the country's dual carbon target. Under the premise of comprehensively considering the multi-sectors of electricity, industry, transportation, and heating, this paper presents a study on the energy system transition towards low-carbon development for Guangxi in four steps. Firstly, to demonstrate EnergyPLAN's capability in energy modeling, a reference scenario for Guangxi is created using official yearbook data from 2020. Then, a short-term scenario is formulated to analyze the development of Guangxi's energy system during the 14th Five-Year Plan. Furthermore, two mid-term scenarios are established, revealing that Guangxi is anticipated to reach its carbon emission peak between 2025 and 2030. Finally, three long-term scenarios are proposed for Guangxi's energy system for 2050. These scenarios encompass the expansion of photovoltaics, nuclear, and wind power in the electricity system and emission reduction policies in the industrial, transportation, and heating sectors. As a result, compared with the 2020REF scenario, Guangxi can achieve a carbon emission reduction exceeding 57% and the share of non-fossil energy consumption can reach about 70% in the 2050 scenarios, despite a substantial increase in energy consumption, which makes it possible to achieve carbon neutrality in 2060 and to establish an energy system with less than 20% of fossil energy consumption. China has pledged that it will strive to achieve peak carbon emission by 2030 and realize carbon neutrality by 2060, which has spurred renewed interest in hydrogen for widespread decarbonization of the economy. Hydrogen energy is an important secondary clean energy with the advantage of high density, high calorific value, rich reserves, extensive sources and high conversion efficiency that can be widely used in power generation, transportation, fuel and other fields. In recent years, with the guidance of policies and the progress of technology, China's hydrogen energy industry has developed rapidly. About 42% of China's carbon emissions comes from the power system and Shenzhen has the largest urban power grid in China. Bringing the utilization of hydrogen energy into Shenzhen's power system is an important method to achieve industry transformation, achieve the "double carbon" goal and promote sustainable development. This paper outlines the domestic and international development status of hydrogen energy, introduces the characteristics of Shenzhen new power system, the industrial utilization of hydrogen energy and the challenges of further integrating hydrogen energy into Shenzhen new power system and, finally, suggests on the integration of hydrogen energy into Shenzhen new power system in different dimensions. This paper investigates the effect of the supply chain disruption, greener energy consumption, and economic growth on carbon emissions in advanced economies and emerging markets from 1997 to 2021 using panel quantile autoregressive distributed lags (QARDL) and the panel quantile regression (QR). The results of the two models confirm, on the one hand, the validity of the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis and, on the other hand, the role of renewable energy consumption in mitigating carbon emissions in advanced and developing economies. Furthermore, the finding shows that the supply chain disruption for the long run is positive at all quantiles, indicating the evidence of association at the extreme low and high quantiles than at the intermediate quantile. In addition, the effect of the supply chain decreases at the lower quantile. It turns negative at the upper 90th quantile in the short run, indicating that the supply chain disruption reduces the environmental degradation under the bearish market conditions. This paper presents a new energy–economy system modelling approach, developed specifically for energy system planning in non-interconnected islands, aiming for decarbonization. Energy system planning is an essential tool to shape the energy transition to reach carbon neutrality in the medium- and long-term horizon. Islands, as small-scale energy systems, have a limited contribution to the global climate targets, but due to their geographical and natural limitations, they present the potential to become frontrunners in the clean energy transition, especially regarding the efficient use of resources. The specificities and complexities of geographical islands cannot be adequately covered by the available energy modelling tools and new advanced approaches need to be developed to provide the appropriate support in designing the future decarbonized energy systems at insular level. Our methodological approach follows the adaptation and customization of well-established energy–economy modelling tools towards the development of an integrated island-scale energy–economy system model, capturing energy demand and supply by sector, heating/cooling and mobility requirements, energy efficiency potentials and their complex interactions through energy prices, storage, flexibility services and sectoral integration. By soft-linking the energy and economy system modelling tools through the consistent exchange of model parameters and variables, we developed a fully fledged modelling framework called IntE3-ISL, designed for islands with a horizon up to 2050. With increasing initiatives on "clean power plan" and "carbon neutrality," gasification is one of the most promising ways toward cleaner energy production using a diverse range of feedstocks. However, prior to gasification, the feedstock must be thoroughly analyzed. The characteristics of various feedstocks, including coal, biomass, petcoke, municipal solid waste (MSW), and their blends, are studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). TGA is widely employed to examine the effect of various parameters, such as time, temperature, heating rate, residence time, pressure, gas composition, and particle size, on the gasification reactivity and kinetics of different carbonaceous feedstocks. Since it is realistic, rapid, reliable, and cost-effective, it is a widely used technique. This review details various thermal analysis techniques, including TGA, differential thermal analysis, and derivative thermogravimetry that can be used for feedstock characterization. The objective of this review is to compare and analyze the reactivity and kinetics behavior of various feedstocks during gasification using TGA. It was observed that the reactivity of biomass is found to be greater than that of MSW, coal, and petcoke with their activation energy in the range of 56–230 kJ mol−1, 100–275 kJ mol−1, 58–250 kJ mol−1, and 120–640 kJ mol−1. This paper will also help in predicting the suitability of different feeds for gasification as well as selecting/designing suitable gasifier. It does highlight different feedstocks used in gasification, along with several thermal analysis techniques. Green hydrogen exploitation plays a crucial role in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Hydrogen, in fact, provides a number of key benefits for the energy system, due to its integrability with other clean technologies for energy production and consumption. This paper is aimed at presenting the project of recovery of an abandoned industrial area located in central Italy by developing a site for the production of green hydrogen. To this aim, the analysis of the territorial and industrial context of the area allowed us to design the project phases and to define the sizing criteria of the hydrogen production plant. The results of a preliminary cost–benefit analysis show that a huge initial investment is required and that, in the short term, the project is sustainable only with a very large public grant. Green hydrogen production from biomass is an eco-friendly and sustainable solution for reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development. This paper presents potential green hydrogen production from available biomass resources, including agricultural crops and livestock waste in Kazakhstan in 14 regions. The study explores the potential of biomass-to-hydrogen production in Kazakhstan, including the availability and quality of biomass resources and environmental sustainability. The gasification process is chosen as the most efficient technology for biomass resource consumption to obtain green hydrogen. This is the first study in Kazakhstan contributes assessment of the geographic distribution of available biomass resources in the country. The total amount of green hydrogen production from agricultural waste is 432 tonnes/km2/year. Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, and North Kazakhstan are listed as regions with the highest green hydrogen production potential with an annual 122.2, 71, 57.6, 35.3, 29, and 28.5 tonnes/km2/year, respectively. Annual green hydrogen production from livestock waste is 5262 × 10−6 tonnes/km2/year which equals to 856 tonnes/year. The top three three regions with H 2 production are Turkestan, Almaty and East Kazakhstan regions with 208, 112.5, and 93 tonnes/year, respectively. With rapid industrialization, rising fossil fuel consumption, and environmental concerns, developing clean and green energy is an inescapable option. Hydrogen has emerged as a significant potential energy carrier and a viable future replacement fuel for fossil fuels due to its renewable and pollution-free properties. Previous review papers have significantly contributed to the body of literature on the various technologies for producing hydrogen by revealing key insights into their working principles and conditions, as well as the economic and environmental aspects. In addition, they also highlighted the potential pathways to enable the application of these technologies in the context of carbon neutrality. However, these studies have not broken down the evolutionary patterns and developmental progress of either fossil fuel-based or renewable energy-based technologies used to produce hydrogen. In addition, the currently available literature does not contain the most recent research that focuses on the evolution and life cycle of each technology category from a chronological point of view. The key drivers, countries/regions, and their contributions to the field's development have received little attention. As a result, it is critical to monitor technological advances in hydrogen energy production and investigate the key enablers of these advancements. Against this backdrop, the current study employs patent analysis tools to achieve four primary goals: (1) to track the development trends in the field of hydrogen production from 2000 to 2019; (2) to identify and compare the recent development trends in the last five years according to the feedstock, i.e., fossil fuel, water, and biomass-based technologies; (3) to predict the technology life cycle of the two main groups of hydrogen production technologies (fossil and renewable); (4) to identify and compare the key drivers of hydrogen production technologies from a statistical standpoint. The exploitation and utilization of clean energy such as wind and photovoltaic power plays an important role in the reduction in carbon emissions to achieve the goal of "emission peak and carbon neutral", but such a quantity of clean energy accessing the electric system will foster the transition of the electric power system structure. The intelligentization of power equipment will be an inevitable trend of development. High breaking performance, remote control and a digital detection platform of miniature circuit breaker, a protective equipment of a power distribution system, have also been inevitable requirements of the power Iot system. Based on the above, this paper studies three aspects: high-performance AC and DC general switching technology, remote control technology and operation status' digital monitoring. A new DC non-polar breaking technology is proposed, which improves the short circuit breaking ability. An experimental prototype using the above techniques was fabricated and passed the DC 1000 V/10 kA short-circuit breaking test. On the basis of the above, an intelligent circuit breaker is developed, which contains multiple functions: remote switching, real-time temperature detection, energy metering and fault warning. Moreover, a software for digital condition monitoring and remote control is developed.
