Abstract Myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury (MIRI) was often observed after surgeries, causing a lot of suffering to patients. Inflammation and apoptosis were critical determinants during MIRI. We conveyed experiments to reveal the regulatory functions of circHECTD1 in MIRI development. The Rat MIRI model was established and determined by 2,3,5‐triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining. We analyzed cell apoptosis using TUNEL and flow cytometry. Proteins expression was evaluated by western blot. The RNA level was determined by qRT‐PCR. Secreted inflammatory factors were analyzed by ELISA assay. To predict the interaction sequences on circHECTD1, miR‐138‐5p, and ROCK2, bioinformatics analysis was performed. Dual‐luciferase assay was used to confirm these interaction sequences. CircHECTD1 and ROCK2 were upregulated in the rat MIRI model, while miR‐138‐5p was decreased. CircHECTD1 knockdown alleviated H/R‐induced inflammation in H9c2 cells. Direct interaction and regulation of circHECTD1/miR‐138‐5p and miR‐138‐5p/ROCK2 were confirmed by dual‐luciferase assay. CircHECTD1 promoted H/R‐induced inflammation and cell apoptosis by inhibiting miR‐138‐5p. miR‐138‐5p alleviated H/R‐induced inflammation, while ectopic ROCK2 antagonized such effect of miR‐138‐5p. Our research suggested that the circHECTD1‐modulated miR‐138‐5p suppressing is responsible for ROCK2 activation during H/R‐induced inflammatory response, providing a novel insight into MIRI‐associated inflammation.

The nucleotide-binding domain-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome plays a vital role in the inflammation process and is associated with the regulatory effects of NLRP3 gene polymorphisms. This study evaluated the association between NLRP3 gene polymorphisms and CKD, and further explored whether the association of environmental metals with CKD varied by the NLRP3 genotypes. Paeonia rockii has been a traditional medicinal material from time immemorial. It is an important plant resource of ethnic medicine and chinese herbal medicine. It has unique effects on heat and cool blood, promoting blood circulation and dispersing blood stasis, analgesia and promoting menstruational flow. It is also a first-class protected plant. With the increasing demand for the bark and roots of P. rockii in China's medicinal market, the continuous high-intensity and disorderly excavation has led to a sharp decline in wild resources. P. rockii is in imminent danger and needs to be saved and protected urgently. In this study, the distribution records of P. rockii in China, combined with environmental factors, are used to simulate the current potential distribution area of P. rockii through MaxEnt model. The environmental factors affecting the distribution of P. rockii are obtained by using the contribution rate of environmental factors and a jackknife test analysis, and the appropriate value of environmental factors is determined by using the response curve. The results show that the AUC value of test set data is 0.985 and that of training set data is 0.987. The prediction accuracy of the Maxent model is extremely high and the simulation effect is very good. At present, the high suitable areas of P. rockii are mainly distributed in the shape of cake in Southern Ningxia, southern Gansu and southern Shanxi, accounting for 15.58% of the total suitable areas. The most important environmental factor affecting the geographical distribution of P. rockii is the altitude; Under the future climate change scenario, the total suitable area of P. rockii shows a decreasing trend, among which the area of high suitable area shows an obvious decreasing trend, the mass center of high suitable area of P. rockii generally tends to migrate to the northwest, and the migration range is large under the scenario of high concentration emission. The research results can provide scientific data support for P. rockii to to cope with the changes in suitable areas caused by climate change and the establishment of effective protection, clarify the change and heterogeneity of P. rockii in different regions of China in the future, and clarify its ecological needs, which has certain practical significance. Alien invasive algae along with ship ballast water have posed a serious threat to China's marine ecological security. A clear understanding of the geographical distribution of invasive species and their response to climate change can provide a scientific basis for their prevention and control. In this study, combined with environmental variables and distribution data, MaxEnt was used to predict the potential geographical distribution and change trend of Alexandrium in the four major sea areas of China currently, 2040s (2040-2050) and 2090s (2090-2100), reveal the dominant environmental factors affecting the geographical distribution, analyze the migration trends of centroids the highly suitable area, and clarify the key control sea areas. The results showed that: 1) The AUC values of all models were significantly higher than random models, and the Kappa statistics of all models were higher than "general", demonstrated that the prediction results were available. 2) The most important environmental variable affecting the geographical distribution of Alexandrium was the Temperature. Range (bio24), and its suitable range was 23.43-31.52°C. 2) At present, in the corresponding sea areas of Nantong, Yancheng, Ningbo, Jiaxing, Dongying, Binzhou, Cangzhou, Tianjin, Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Zhongshan, special attention should be paid to the control of Alexandrium. 3) Under the future climate change scenarios, excepted in the South China Sea, the total and highly suitable area of Alexandrium showed an increasing trend. 4) Under climate change scenarios, in the Yellow Sea, the centroids of the highly suitable area would move to the southeast. In the Bohai Sea and the East China Sea, the centroid showed a trend of moving to different latitudes and directions. In the South China Sea, the centroids of of the highly suitable area and total suitable area of Alexandrium would both move to the southwest. • Hyaluronic acid and dextrose injections are common treatments for knee osteoarthritis (OA). • Coinjections improved stair climbing time and physical function at 6 months. • Coinjections had no severe adverse effects and achieved high adherence. • Coinjections may be suitable as adjuvant therapy for knee OA. To determine whether intra-articular coinjection with hypertonic dextrose improves the outcome of hyaluronic acid (HA) prolotherapy for knee osteoarthritis (OA). Prospective, randomized, double-blind trial. Medical center in Taiwan. In total, 104 participants who fulfilled the American College of Rheumatology clinical and radiographic criteria for knee OA with a Kellgren-Lawrence score of 2 or 3 were recruited (N=104). The participants were blocked randomized to the treatment (HA and hypertonic dextrose) or control (HA and normal saline) group. Ultrasound-guided knee intra-articular injections were administered once a week for 3 weeks. The primary outcomes were performance-based physical function measures (regular and fastest walking speed, stair climbing time, and chair rising time), and the secondary outcomes were the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS). The outcome measures were assessed before the injections and at 1 week and 1, 3, and 6 months after the injections. The data were analyzed through repeated-measures analysis of covariance. Significant intergroup difference-in-differences favoring the treatment group were observed for improvements in stair climbing time (−1.6; 95% confidence interval, −8.56 to 4.16; P =.38) and WOMAC physical function (−21.2; 95% confidence interval, −126.05 to 103.83; P =.045) at 6 months. The group×time interaction effects favored the treatment group for regular (P =.001) and fastest walking speed (P =.001) and chair rising time (P =.038); WOMAC stiffness (P <.001) and physical function (P =.003); and KOOS for pain (P =.035), other symptoms (P =.022), and quality of life (P =.012). Compared with HA plus normal saline coinjections, HA plus dextrose coinjections resulted in more significant improvements in stair climbing time and physical function at 6 months, effectively decreased pain, and improved physical function and physical functional performance from 1 week to 6 months. Metal exposure and lifestyle are important risk factors for osteoporosis. Our study aimed to investigate the association between red blood cell lead and cadmium, total urinary arsenic, and plasma selenium levels and bone mineral density (BMD). In addition, we explored whether alcohol and coffee consumption modified the association between BMD and metals and metalloids. In total, 437 participants who underwent adult or senile physical examinations were recruited. Bone loss was defined as a calcaneus BMD T-score of <-1. Blood cadmium and lead and plasma selenium levels were measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Levels of urinary arsenic species were determined using high-performance liquid chromatography–hydride generator–atomic absorption spectrometry. The total urinary arsenic level was defined as the sum of the levels of urinary arsenic species. The BMD T-scores decreased significantly with increasing blood lead levels. The BMD T-scores also showed a downward trend with increasing total urinary arsenic levels. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for bone loss in patients with blood lead levels >57.58 versus 35.74 μg/dL were 1.98 and 1.17–3.34. In addition, the greater the lead or arsenic exposure and alcohol intake was the higher the OR for bone loss with multivariate ORs of 2.57 (95% CI 1.45–4.56) and 2.96 (95% CI 1.67–5.22), respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to demonstrate that high total urinary arsenic or blood lead levels and frequent or occasional alcohol consumption had a significant multiplicative interaction for increasing the OR for bone loss. With the advancement of global maritime transport, the carriage of foreign organisms by vessels is inciting ecological catastrophes such as red tides, posing a grave threat to China's marine environmental security. Clarifying the geographical distribution of invasive species and their relationship with climate change can provide scientific basis for their prevention and control. In this discourse, the study centers on the typical alien microalgae, Nitzschiella closterium. By integrating environmental variables and distribution data and employing an optimized Maxent model, we delve into its potential distribution in current and future ecological conditions in the coastal waters of China, as well as the response relationship to environmental variables. After model optimization, the results reveal that the Area Under the Curve (AUC) value of the training dataset for Nitzschiella closterium stands at 0.993, denoting a high degree of model accuracy and bestowing credibility upon the simulated outcomes. Currently, the high suitability area constitutes 0.74% of the total suitability area, with an area of 0.44×104 km², and is mainly distributed in the sea area corresponding to Jiangsu Province, Shanghai City, and Zhejiang Province. The most significant environmental factor affecting the geographical distribution of Nitzschiella closterium is the annual temperature variation range (bio24). In the context of future climate changes, there is an overall trend of substantial expansion in the high suitability area for Nitzschiella closterium, which is profoundly affected by climate change, suggesting that the future control will be more severe. This research comprehensively understands the response relationship of the invasive species Nitzschiella closterium to leading environmental variables and its potential geographical distribution in the context of climate change through macro prediction and proposes control countermeasures. This study hypothesized that plasma folate and vitamin B12 levels modified the association between blood lead and cadmium and total urinary arsenic levels and bone loss. A total of 447 study subjects who received a physical examination at the Wanfang Hospital Medical Center were recruited. Bone loss was defined as a calcaneus bone mineral density T-score less than −1. Blood cadmium and lead concentrations were measured by ICP-MS. Urinary arsenic species were determined using HPLC-HG-AAS. A SimulTRAC-SNB radioassay was used to measure plasma folate, vitamin B12, and homocysteine levels. Total urinary arsenic and blood lead concentration were positively correlated with the odds ratio (OR) for bone loss in a dose–response manner. The OR and 95% confidence interval (CI) for bone loss in participants with blood lead concentrations > 56.14 versus ≤33.82 μg/dL were 1.82 and 1.10–3.01. No correlation between plasma folate and vitamin B12 levels alone and bone loss was observed. However, this study is the first observational study to find that blood lead concentrations tend to increase the OR of bone loss in a low plasma folate and plasma vitamin B12 group with multivariate ORs (95% CI) of 2.44 (0.85–6.96). Family-centered workshops' effects on children with language developmental delay remain unknown. This study assessed the feasibility of workshops for children with language developmental delay. A total of 122 children aged 18-36 months with language developmental delays and their parents participated in six sessions of 2-h family-centered multidisciplinary workshops for 6 weeks. The Mandarin-Chinese Communicative Development Inventory, Peabody Developmental Motor Scale, Emotional Competency Rating Scales, Pediatric Outcomes Data Collection Instrument, Child Health Questionnaire, Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory, Caregiver Strain Index, Impact on Family Scale, PedsQL Family Impact Module, and World Health Organization Quality of Life (QOL) were administered to the children and their parents before and after the workshop. We found improvement of emotion (P = 0.037), upper extremity and physical function (P = 0.038), and transfer and basic mobility (P = 0.019) in children and parental QOL related to children's conditions (P = 0.049), with no effect on communication ability and QOL in children and family strain and function. We also noted more significant improvement in children with pure developmental language delay than in children with nonpure developmental language delay concerning the success rates (from delayed to normal development) for expressive vocabulary (P < 0.001) and word combination (P = 0.002). Satisfaction levels toward the workshop were high. Family-centered workshops improved children's emotions, functional performance, and parental QOL. Although the samples were too small to test different conditions of the developmental delay, the workshops for children with language developmental delays are acceptable and feasible.
