The separation of alkane isomers is an important yet challenging process in the petrochemical industry. Being a crucial step to produce premium gasoline components as well as optimum ethylene feed, the current industrial separation by distillation is extremely energy intensive. Adsorptive separation based on zeolite is limited by insufficient adsorption capacity. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) hold enormous promise as alternative adsorbents due to their diverse structural tunability and exceptional porosity. Precise control of their pore geometry/dimensions has led to superior performance. In this minireview, we highlight the recent progresses in developing MOFs for the separation of C6 alkane isomers. Representative MOFs are reviewed based on their separation mechanisms. Emphasis is put on the material design rationale for achieving optimal separation capability. High‐efficiency separation of C6 alkanes, particularly the mono‐ and dibranched isomers by using porous solids, is of paramount significance in the petrochemical industry and, remains a daunting challenge. In this work, we report the complete separation of linear/monobranched hexanes from their dibranched isomers through selective size‐exclusion by a microporous MOF, Zn‐tcpt (H3tcpt=2,4,6‐tris(4‐carboxyphenoxy)‐1,3,5‐triazine), with a two‐fold interpenetrated structure of hms nets. Importantly, its adsorption capacity and selectivity are notably higher than those of the previously reported adsorbents that can split mono‐ and dibranched alkane isomers. Dynamic breakthrough measurements verify the excellent separation of C6 alkane isomers by Zn‐tcpt, and the size‐exclusion based separation mechanism has been confirmed by ab initio materials modeling. Capturing dibutyl phthalate (DBP) impurities from transformer oils and purifying them is crucial for maintaining long-term sustainable transformer operation. Furthermore, this process significantly reduces the generation of waste from aged transformer oils, thereby contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development. In this study, various metal ion-modified wood activated carbons (ACs) were prepared using the wet impregnation method. The adsorption isotherms and adsorption kinetics studies reveal that Fe/AC exhibits a significant enhancement of more than 40% in DBP adsorption capacity compared to the original AC. Consequently, Fe/AC is the material with the highest adsorption capacity for DBP in transformer oils up to now. Furthermore, the desorption activation energy of DBP on Fe/AC was 46.623 kJ/mol, 1.73 times higher than original AC. Ultimately, the adsorption mechanism was explained using the Hard-Soft-Acid-Base (HSAB) principle, which demonstrated a stronger interaction between hard base DBP and Fe/AC due to the hard acidic nature of Fe3+ and therefore a higher capture capacity of DBP by Fe/AC. The simplified preparation method and enhanced adsorption capacity of the modified Fe/AC make it an efficient and cost-effective approach to ensure reliable and sustained transformer operation, while also minimizing the generation of waste transformer oils. • High-performance DBP adsorbent achieved through Fe3+ impregnation on AC. • The loading of Fe resulted in a 40% increase in the DBP adsorption capacity. • Fe/AC exhibits nearly twice the DBP adsorption capacity of γ-Al 2 O 3. • The loaded Fe3+ as hard acid improved the adsorption capacity of AC on hard base DBP. Monolithic binder-free CO 2 adsorbents with high adsorption capacity, selectivity, adsorption-desorption kinetics, and regenerability are highly desired to both reduce the environmental impact of anthropogenic CO 2 emissions and purify valuable gases from CO 2. Herein, we report a strategy to prepare monolithic carbonaceous CO 2 adsorbents from low-cost and underutilized bioresources, which enabled the formation of a delicate anisotropic, hierarchical porous structure. With optimized material composition and processing conditions, the biobased carbon adsorbent demonstrated a CO 2 adsorption capacity of 4.49 mmol g-1 at 298 K and 100 kPa, relatively weak adsorbent-adsorbate affinity, good CO 2 /N 2 selectivity, and advantageous hydrophobicity against water vapor. Moreover, the unique anisotropic porous structure provided high stiffness and good flexibility to the adsorbent in the axial and radial directions, respectively. We confirmed that this type of carbon adsorbent could be packed in a column for dynamic CO 2 capture independent of any binders, indicating its promising future for further development toward widespread utilization. Ni-Co Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) shows great application potential in the field of anti-corrosion. However, the poor carrying capacity limits the performance of anticorrosion performance. In this study, Ni-Co hydrotalcite was grown on the surface of DE, and Ni-Co/DE@SP microcapsule with corrosion inhibitor loading up to 14.7% was successfully prepared. The adsorption capacity of Ni-Co/DE@SP for Cl− in 600 mmol/L NaCl solution was 6.72 mmol/g. It is worth noting that the impedance modulus of the prepared composite coating (EP/Ni-Co/DE@SP) is two orders of magnitude higher than that of the pure resin coating, and the wear resistance was improved by 33%. • The diatomite was used as the carrier, and the active filler with the synergistic anti-corrosion function was assembled. • The synergistic anti-corrosion of Ni-Co LDH adsorption of Cl− and passivation of corrosion inhibitor was realized. • The impedance modulus values of composite coating two orders of magnitude higher than that of the EP coating. • The friction loss and water absorption of the composite coating decreased by 33% and 51.36% respectively. In the present work, a biosynthesis route for the preparation of hierarchical pompon-like SAPO-34 was developed. Commercially available bacterial cellulose aerogel was used as template. SiO 2 loaded bacterial cellulose aerogel was used as silica source and a simple hydrothermal treatment was used for crystallization. XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, N 2 adsorption-desorption and TG techniques were employed to characterize the obtained samples. The hierarchical pompon-like SAPO-34 showed a spherical morphology that was comprised of nanosheets with a thickness less than 30 nm. The specific surface area of the hierarchical pompon-like SAPO-34 was 498 m2/g that was higher than the trigonal SAPO-34 crystals of 465 m2/g. The ultrasonic treatment experiment indicated a high stability of the pompon-like structure. In addition, the hierarchical pompon-like SAPO-34 exhibited a CO 2 adsorption capacity of 2.26 mmol/g at 100 kPa and 298K and the corresponding CO 2 /CH 4 ideal separation factor was 5.7, which was higher than that of trigonal SAPO-34 crystals. The saturated adsorption capacity and b-value were estimated using single site Langmuir, Toth and Sips adsorption isotherm models and the observed results were constant. Compared with trigonal SAPO-34, hierarchical pompon-like SAPO-34 displayed a higher saturated adsorption capacity, but a lower b-value.
