Aims: To comprehend the current research hotspots and emerging trends in big data research within the global nursing domain. Design: Bibliometric analysis. Methods: The quality articles for analysis indexed by the science core collection were obtained from the Web of Science database as of February 10, 2023.The descriptive, visual analysis and text mining were realized by CiteSpace and VOSviewer. Results: The research on big data in the nursing field has experienced steady growth over the past decade. A total of 45 core authors and 17 core journals around the world have contributed to this field. The author's keyword analysis has revealed five distinct clusters of research focus. These encompass machine/deep learning and artificial intelligence, natural language processing, big data analytics and data science, IoT and cloud computing, and the development of prediction models through data mining. Furthermore, a comparative examination was conducted with data spanning from 1980 to 2016, and an extended analysis was performed covering the years from 1980 to 2019. This bibliometric mapping comparison allowed for the identification of prevailing research trends and the pinpointing of potential future research hotspots within the field. Conclusions: The fusion of data mining and nursing research has steadily advanced and become more refined over time. Technologically, it has expanded from initial natural language processing to encompass machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining approach that amalgamates multiple technologies. Professionally, it has progressed from addressing patient safety and pressure ulcers to encompassing chronic diseases, critical care, emergency response, community and nursing home settings, and specific diseases (Cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, stroke, etc.). The convergence of IoT, cloud computing, fog computing, and big data processing has opened new avenues for research in geriatric nursing management and community care. However, a global imbalance exists in utilizing big data in nursing research, emphasizing the need to enhance data science literacy among clinical staff worldwide to advance this field. Short texts generated by individuals in online environments can provide social and behavioral scientists with rich insights into these individuals' internal states. Trained manual coders can reliably interpret expressions of such internal states in text. However, manual coding imposes restrictions on the number of texts that can be analyzed, limiting our ability to extract insights from large-scale textual data. We evaluate the performance of several automatic text analysis methods in approximating trained human coders' evaluations across four coding tasks encompassing expressions of motives, norms, emotions, and stances. Our findings suggest that commonly used dictionaries, although performing well in identifying infrequent categories, generate false positives too frequently compared to other methods. We show that large language models trained on manually coded data yield the highest performance across all case studies. However, there are also instances where simpler methods show almost equal performance. Additionally, we evaluate the effectiveness of cutting-edge generative language models like GPT-4 in coding texts for internal states with the help of short instructions (so-called zero-shot classification). While promising, these models fall short of the performance of models trained on manually analyzed data. We discuss the strengths and weaknesses of various models and explore the trade-offs between model complexity and performance in different applications. Recommendation systems (RS) are crucial for social networking sites. Without it, finding precise products is harder. However, existing systems lack adequate efficiency, especially with big data. This paper presents a prototype cloud-based recommendation system for processing big data. The proposed work is implemented by utilizing the matrix factorization method with three approaches. In the first approach, singular value decomposition (SVD) is used, which is an old and traditional recommendation technique. The second recommendation approach is fine-tuned using the alternating least squares (ALS) algorithm with Apache Spark. Finally, the deep neural network (DNN) algorithm is utilized with TensorFlow. This study solves the challenge of handling large-scale datasets in the collaborative filtering (CF) technique after tuning the algorithms by adjusting the parameters in the second approach, which uses machine learning, as well as in the third approach, which uses deep learning. Furthermore, the results of these two approaches outperformed conventional techniques and achieved an acceptable computational time. The dataset size is about 1.5 GB and it is collected from the Goodreads website API. The purpose of this paper is to systematically sort out and analyze the cutting-edge research on the eligibility criteria of clinical trials. Eligibility criteria are important prerequisites for the success of clinical trials. It directly affects the final results of the clinical trials. Inappropriate eligibility criteria will lead to insufficient recruitment, which is an important reason for the eventual failure of many clinical trials. We have investigated the research status of eligibility criteria for clinical trials on academic platforms such as arXiv and NIH. We have classified and sorted out all the papers we found, so that readers can understand the frontier research in this field. Eligibility criteria are the most important part of a clinical trial study. The ultimate goal of research in this field is to formulate more scientific and reasonable eligibility criteria and speed up the clinical trial process. The global research on the eligibility criteria of clinical trials is mainly divided into four main aspects: natural language processing, patient pre-screening, standard evaluation, and clinical trial query. Compared with the past, people are now using new technologies to study eligibility criteria from a new perspective (big data). In the research process, complex disease concepts, how to choose a suitable dataset, how to prove the validity and scientific of the research results, are challenges faced by researchers (especially for computer-related researchers). In today's big data era, there are a large number of unstructured information resources on the web. Natural language processing researchers have been working hard to figure out how to extract useful information from them. Entity Relation Extraction is a crucial step in Information Extraction and provides technical support for Knowledge Graphs, Intelligent Q&A systems and Intelligent Retrieval. In this paper, we present a comprehensive history of entity relation extraction and introduce the relation extraction methods based on Machine Mearning, the relation extraction methods based on Deep Learning and the relation extraction methods for open domains. Then we summarize the characteristics and representative results of each type of method and introduce the common datasets and evaluation systems for entity relation extraction. Satisfaction Detection is one of the most common issues that impact the business world. So, this study aims to suggest an application that detects the Satisfaction tone that leads to customer happiness for Big Data that came out from online businesses on social media, in particular, Facebook and Twitter, by using two famous methods, machine learning and deep learning (DL) techniques.There is a lack of datasets that are involved with this topic. Therefore, we have collected the dataset from social media. We have simplified the concept of Big Data analytics for business on social media using three of the most famous Natural Language Processing tools, stemming, normalization, and stop word removal. To evaluate the performance of the classifiers, we calculated F1-measure, Recall, and Precision measures. The result showed superiority for the Random Forest classifier the highest value of F1-measure with (99.1%). The best result achieved without applying pre-processing techniques, through Support Vector Machine with F1-measure (93.4%). On the other hand, we apply DL techniques, and we apply the feature extraction method, which includes Word Embedding and Bag of Words on the dataset. The mining of Tweets to develop datasets on recent issues, global challenges, pandemics, virus outbreaks, emerging technologies, and trending matters has been of significant interest to the scientific community in the recent past, as such datasets serve as a rich data resource for the investigation of different research questions. Furthermore, the virus outbreaks of the past, such as COVID-19, Ebola, Zika virus, and flu, just to name a few, were associated with various works related to the analysis of the multimodal components of Tweets to infer the different characteristics of conversations on Twitter related to these respective outbreaks. The ongoing outbreak of the monkeypox virus, declared a Global Public Health Emergency (GPHE) by the World Health Organization (WHO), has resulted in a surge of conversations about this outbreak on Twitter, which is resulting in the generation of tremendous amounts of Big Data. There has been no prior work in this field thus far that has focused on mining such conversations to develop a Twitter dataset. Furthermore, no prior work has focused on performing a comprehensive analysis of Tweets about this ongoing outbreak. To address these challenges, this work makes three scientific contributions to this field. First, it presents an open-access dataset of 556,427 Tweets about monkeypox that have been posted on Twitter since the first detected case of this outbreak. A comparative study is also presented that compares this dataset with 36 prior works in this field that focused on the development of Twitter datasets to further uphold the novelty, relevance, and usefulness of this dataset. Second, the paper reports the results of a comprehensive analysis of the Tweets of this dataset. This analysis presents several novel findings; for instance, out of all the 34 languages supported by Twitter, English has been the most used language to post Tweets about monkeypox, about 40,000 Tweets related to monkeypox were posted on the day WHO declared monkeypox as a GPHE, a total of 5470 distinct hashtags have been used on Twitter about this outbreak out of which #monkeypox is the most used hashtag, and Twitter for iPhone has been the leading source of Tweets about the outbreak. The sentiment analysis of the Tweets was also performed, and the results show that despite a lot of discussions, debate, opinions, information, and misinformation, on Twitter on various topics in this regard, such as monkeypox and the LGBTQI+ community, monkeypox and COVID-19, vaccines for monkeypox, etc., "neutral" sentiment was present in most of the Tweets. It was followed by "negative" and "positive" sentiments, respectively. Finally, to support research and development in this field, the paper presents a list of 50 open research questions related to the outbreak in the areas of Big Data, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning that may be investigated based on this dataset. COVID-19 is an infectious disease with its first recorded cases identified in late 2019, while in March of 2020 it was declared as a pandemic. The outbreak of the disease has led to a sharp increase in posts and comments from social media users, with a plethora of sentiments being found therein. This paper addresses the subject of sentiment analysis, focusing on the classification of users' sentiment from posts related to COVID-19 that originate from Twitter. The period examined is from March until mid-April of 2020, when the pandemic had thus far affected the whole world. The data is processed and linguistically analyzed with the use of several natural language processing techniques. Sentiment analysis is implemented by utilizing seven different deep learning models based on LSTM neural networks, and a comparison with traditional machine learning classifiers is made. Digital transformation stimulates continuous generation of large amounts of digital data, both in organizations and in society at large. As a consequence, there have been growing efforts in the Requirements Engineering community to consider digital data as sources for requirements acquisition, in addition to human stakeholders. The volume, velocity and variety of the data make requirements discovery increasingly dynamic, but also unstructured and complex, which current elicitation methods are unable to consider and manage in a systematic and efficient manner. We propose a framework, in the form of a conceptual metamodel and a method, for continuous and automated acquisition, analysis and aggregation of heterogeneous digital sources that aims to support data-driven requirements elicitation and management. The convolutional neural network (CNN) has become a powerful tool in machine learning (ML) that is used to solve complex problems such as image recognition, natural language processing, and video analysis. Notably, the idea of exploring convolutional neural network architecture has gained substantial attention as well as popularity. This study focuses on the intrinsic various CNN architectures: LeNet, AlexNet, VGG16, ResNet-50, and Inception-V1, which have been scrutinized and compared with each other for the detection of lung cancer using publicly available LUNA16 datasets. Furthermore, multiple performance optimizers: root mean square propagation (RMSProp), adaptive moment estimation (Adam), and stochastic gradient descent (SGD), were applied for this comparative study. The performances of the three CNN architectures were measured for accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value, false omission rate, negative predictive value, and F1 score. The experimental results showed that the CNN AlexNet architecture with the SGD optimizer achieved the highest validation accuracy for CT lung cancer with an accuracy of 97.42%, misclassification rate of 2.58%, 97.58% sensitivity, 97.25% specificity, 97.58% positive predictive value, 97.25% negative predictive value, false omission rate of 2.75%, and F1 score of 97.58%. Data mining approaches such as natural language processing play a fundamental role in the healthcare sector and, exclusively, the pharmacology domain. The substantial feedback and experiences shared by the patients on different drugs are employed to perform opinion mining on the reviews, which will help the decision-makers to improve the medications' quality and provide the optimal medical outcomes. Based on that, the drug review data set from the UCI machine learning repository is used. The objective of this study is to conduct a sentiment analysis of the patients' reviews to obtain their satisfaction with different drugs using the random forest (RF) machine learning model. In addition, finding out the best drugs for different conditions based on patients' reviews is done by implementing the long short-term memory. Finally, the authors predict the patients' medical conditions based on their reviews by performing the support vector machine and RF classifiers. Understanding antimicrobial usage patterns and encouraging appropriate antimicrobial usage is a critical component of antimicrobial stewardship. Studies using VetCompass Australia and Natural Language Processing (NLP) have demonstrated antimicrobial usage patterns in companion animal practices across Australia. Doing so has highlighted the many obstacles and barriers to the task of converting raw clinical notes into a format that can be readily queried and analysed. We developed NLP systems using rules‐based algorithms and machine learning to automate the extraction of data describing the key elements to assess appropriate antimicrobial use. These included the clinical indication, antimicrobial agent selection, dose and duration of therapy. Our methods were applied to over 4.4 million companion animal clinical records across Australia on all consultations with antimicrobial use to help us understand what antibiotics are being given and why on a population level. Of these, approximately only 40% recorded the reason why antimicrobials were prescribed, along with the dose and duration of treatment. NLP and deep learning might be able to overcome the difficulties of harvesting free text data from clinical records, but when the essential data are not recorded in the clinical records, then, this becomes an insurmountable obstacle. Given the potential of machine learning algorithms in revolutionizing the bioengineering field, this paper examined and summarized the literature related to artificial intelligence (AI) in the bioprocessing field. Natural language processing (NLP) was employed to explore the direction of the research domain. All the papers from 2013 to 2022 with specific keywords of bioprocessing using AI were extracted from Scopus and grouped into two five-year periods of 2013-to-2017 and 2018-to-2022, where the past and recent research directions were compared. Based on this procedure, selected sample papers from recent five years were subjected to further review and analysis. The result shows that 50% of the publications in the past five-year focused on topics related to hybrid models, ANN, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, and biorefinery. The emergence of big data and computational tools has introduced new possibilities for using large-scale textual sources in sociological research. Recent work in sociology of culture, science, and economic sociology has shown how computational text analysis can be used in theory building and testing. This review starts with an introduction of the history of computer-assisted text analysis in sociology and then proceeds to discuss five families of computational methods used in contemporary research. Using exemplary studies, it shows how dictionary methods, semantic and network analysis tools, language models, unsupervised, and supervised machine learning can assist sociologists with different analytical tasks. After presenting recent methodological developments, this review summarizes several important implications of using large datasets and computational methods to infer complex meaning in texts. Finally, it calls researchers from different methodological traditions to adopt text mining tools while remaining mindful of lessons learned from working with conventional data and methods.
