Tea (Camellia sinensis L.), as one of the most important cash crops in China, plays an important role in increasing farmers' incomes and guaranteeing a high quality of life. Tea production has been greatly influenced by both climate change and economic development in China. However, without a scientific understanding of the interaction mechanism of climate change and the impetus from rapid economic development on tea production practices in China, it is difficult to take adaptive actions to meet the climate change challenges for the tea industry. In this paper, we firstly assessed the potential impacts of climate change on tea climate suitability by empirical formula calculation using meteorological data; then, the effects from the additional climatic stress due to warming on tea production were detected with the annual statistical tea yield record on a municipal level. The contribution of socioeconomic development to the tea industry was evaluated with the comparison of the movement of China's national economy's and tea industry's gravity center during the period of 1987–2017. Finally, a conceptual adaptation framework was built to demonstrate the interaction mechanisms between climate change, tea production, and the economic development. The results showed that there was a negative impact of climate change on tea production in mainland China, with the percentage of high tea climate suitability (>0.9) areas dropping by 45% to 32%, while opportunities of enlarging the tea cultivating area emerged in the north tea production region where the tea climate suitability increased. We found that the tea planting area expanded northwards from 33° N in 1987 to 35° N in 2017 to take advantage of the favorable climatic resources due to warming, and tea planting decreased at an altitude of 100–400 m while increasing to higher altitude of 400–2000 m to avoid hot temperature damage and seek the optimum environment in high mountainous areas for tea production. In addition, the tea production moved westward along the longitude, decreasing obviously at 117–121° E while increasing significantly at 98–104° E and 107–110° E. Meanwhile, the tea production gravity center showed a westward movement consistent with the national economic gravity center moving trend, which means that tea industry development was driven by multiple socioeconomic factors and climatic forcings. A conceptual framework was built in this paper, aiming to show a robust adaptation mechanism for the tea system to maximize the benefits and minimize the damages from the altered climatic resources under rapid economic development in mainland China. Net ecosystem productivity (NEP) plays an important role in the quantitative evaluation of carbon source/sinks in terrestrial ecosystems. This study used Theil–Sen median trend analysis, the Mann–Kendall method, and the Geodetector model to analyze the variation patterns and its dominant factors of NEP from 2010 to 2020. The results showed the following: (1) During 2010–2020, the spatial distribution of carbon sinks in China's terrestrial ecosystems showed a pattern of high in the southeast and low in the northwest. The area with NEP < 0 accounted for 44.74% of the total area, while the area with NEP > 0 accounted for 55.26%. (2) The northwest region belonged to the significant carbon source, while the other regions belonged to significant carbon sinks. (3) The annual average NEP in different sub-regions showed an increasing trend. During 2010–2020, the overall NEP in China showed a trend in shifting from low-level to high-level, indicating that the NEP of terrestrial ecosystems in China increased during the past 11 years. (4) The NEP gravity center in Northeast China showed a trend in moving southward and then northward, while that of the NEP gravity center in East China showed a circular migration trend of 'northwest-southwest–northeast–southeast'. The gravity center of NEP in Northwest China was moving northeastward. The migration trajectory of the NEP gravity center in Southwest China presented a "Z" shape. The change in the gravity center of NEP in the central and southern regions had a strong circuitous nature, and the overall trend was to migrate southward. (5) The combined actions of climate change and human activities were the main reason for the change in NEP in China's terrestrial ecosystem from 2010 to 2020. Changing of precipitation regime and intensification of extreme storms in semi -arid regions because of climate change requires the use of numerical models to forecast the outlet hydrographs. In this paper, HEC-HMS software was applied using a loss method the curve number CN to estimate the precipitation excess and a parametric unit hydrograph model to compute the transformation of precipitation excess into direct runoff over the watershed. The Muskingum-Cunge routing model was used to simulate the propagation of direct runoff through the main streams of Koudiet Rosfa watershed. The curve number CN and lag time parameters were used to calibrate the model towards several storms. The Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient (NSE) was adopted to assess the performance of the model to reproduce the observed hydrographs. Volume of the storms, peak discharges, times of peak and times of center of mass between the simulated and observed discharges were used to validate the model. The simulated discharges reproduce the hydrological events. The calibrated model was used to simulate the different hypothetical storms that could occur in the future in order to ensure the safety of Koudiet Rosfa dam towards extreme rainfall-runoff events. As the main expenditure item in water balance, evapotranspiration has an important impact on the surface ecosystem. Assessing the impact of changes in meteorological elements on evapotranspiration is essential to identify the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of hydrographic responses to climate changes. Based on the actual evapotranspiration (ETa) product (GPR-ET) generated by Gaussian process regression (GPR), as well as temperature and precipitation datasets, our study employed various statistical analysis methods, including geographic detector, the center of gravity migration model, spatial variation coefficients, and partial differential models, to investigate the spatiotemporal variation in ETa in China from 2000 to 2018. The analysis covered future trends in ETa changes and the contribution of meteorological factors. Our results showed that the ETa in northwest China had stronger spatial heterogeneity and the mean value was generally lower than that in the southeast. But the center of gravity of ETa was shifting towards the northwest. In most areas, the future trend was expected to be inconsistent with the current stage. ETa in the regions of north and west was mainly driven by precipitation, while its increase in southeast China was largely attributed to temperature. In addition to spatial variations, the joint enhancement effect of temperature and precipitation on ETa exists. According to the contribution analysis, precipitation contributed more to the change in ETa than temperature. These findings have enhanced our comprehension of the contribution of climate variability to ETa changes, providing scientific proof for the optimization apportion of future water resources. The intensification of the regional water cycle resulting from climate change, coupled with the influence of human activities, has brought about alterations in the frequency, scale, and intensity of droughts. In this study, based on hydrological big data and the standardized runoff drought index (SRI), the multi-scale spatiotemporal evolution of hydrological drought in China from 1948 to 2014 was analyzed using the run-length theory and gravity center model. Meanwhile, the hydrological drought hazard index was constructed to analyze the distribution of the hazard levels of drought in China. The results showed that, during 1948~2014, there was an opposite spatial distribution between the average intensity and the average coverage–duration–frequency of drought in the Yellow River Basin, Haihe River Basin and southeastern river basins. The drought situation in most river basins in China has shown an aggravating trend, among which the southeastern river basins, Haihe River Basin, Songliao River Basin and Pearl River Basin have generally shown an aggravating trend. The drought situation in China was severe in the 1950s and 1960s, gradually reduced in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and the drought situation was the mildest in the 1990s. After entering the 21st century, the drought situation began to worsen sharply. Meanwhile, from 1948 to 2014, the hazard level of drought generally presented a pattern of high in the west and north, and low in the east and south. The hazard levels of drought in the northwest and northeast were generally higher, and those in the southwest and southeast regions were generally lower. Wind erosion is one of the major meteorological hazards in Ningxia, and climate change has caused changes in wind erosion–climatic erosion activity in recent years. This study uses the wind erosion climate factor (C) proposed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to assess the impact of climate change on wind erosion–climate erosion, and the results show that (1) the distribution of wind erosion degree in Ningxia region is central > northern > southern. Seasonally, it is higher in spring and winter, and lower in summer and autumn. (2) Climate change has more influence on spring, autumn and winter, and less influence on summer. (3) The center of gravity is mainly located at the junction of central and northern Ningxia, and the center of gravity migrates through four migration stages—northeast–southwest–northeast–southwest—on the annual scale, and four migration stages—northwest–northeast–southeast—on the seasonal and monthly scales. The migration rate in the cold season is greater than that in the warm season. (4) The wind erosion climate factor index is influenced by sunshine hours, average temperature, average humidity, average wind speed and total precipitation, and the degree of influence has spatial and temporal variability, among which the wind erosion climate factor index is the most sensitive to the influence of average wind speed. (5) The wind erosion climate factor indices are positively correlated with NAO, AO, PDO and SOI indices, and negatively correlated with MEI and ENSO indices, and there are resonance cycles of different time scales. Pteroceltis tatarinowii (Pteroceltis: Ulmaceae) is a deciduous tree that has a cultivation history of more than 2000 years in China. As an excellent afforestation tree species and rare and endangered tertiary relic plant, P. tatarinowii has high ecological protection value. Due to the forest destruction caused by predatory logging and natural environmental factors, the population of P. tatarinowii in China has decreased significantly. In this study, the potential geographical distribution of P. tatarinowii in China under climate change was predicted using MaxEnt model and ArcGIS based on 223 effective distribution points of P. tatarinowii and 11 environmental variables. The results showed that: (1) the prediction accuracy of MaxEnt model was extremely high, and the areas under curve (AUC) value of the training data was 0.936; The area of the potential suitable habitat area of P. tatarinowii under current climate condition was 180.84×104 km2, and mainly located in the central and southeast regions of China. (2) The domain environmental variables affecting the potential geographical distribution of P. tatarinowii were min temperature of coldest month (12.1~22.7°C), isothermality (26.6~35.8), mean diurnal range 6.9~9.3°C and precipitation of wettest month (189.5 ~955.5 mm). (3) In 2050s and 2070s, compared with current (4.19×104 km2), the area of highly suitable habitat will increase by 0.2%-0.3% (RCP2.6) and 1.22%-3.84% (RCP8.5) respectively. while the poorly, moderately and total suitable habitats will decrease. The gravity center of P. tatarinowii showed a trend of migration to higher latitudes and northern regions in the future.
