The Bürgenstock Conference is a prestigious symposium in organic chemistry that has been running since 1965. The conference is known for its exclusive and luxurious venue, limited number of participants, and undisclosed program. Due to the Covid pandemic, the conference was postponed for two years, but it finally took place in 2023. The conference featured 13 plenary speakers who shared their latest research and knowledge in various areas of chemistry. The conference also honored Prof. Andreas Pfaltz as a Guest of Honor for his contributions to asymmetric catalysis. The International Conference on Sports Concussion, held every four years since 2001, has been instrumental in forming the international consensus on sports-related concussions. However, due to the unprecedented global pandemic of COVID-19, not only the Tokyo Olympics 2020, but also the initially scheduled sixth conference was postponed multiple times. Finally, the 6th International Conference on Sports Concussion took place in Amsterdam at the end of October 2022. In July 2023, the Amsterdam Declaration, reflecting the outcomes of this sixth conference, was released. This paper provides an overview of the conference, in which significant updates were revealed and introduced, including revisions to the definition of sports-related concussions, as well as the latest version of the Sports Concussion Assessment Tool (SCAT), known as SCAT6, the Office Assessment Tool (SCOAT), and the updated staged return-to-play protocol. The IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS) is held annually, sponsored by the Plasma Science and Applications Committee (PSAC) of the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Science Society (NPSS). The 47th IEEE NPSS ICOPS was organized ONLINE from December 06 to 10, 2020, by the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The ICOPS2020 was co-organized together with the 2nd Asia-Pacific Conference on Plasma and Terahertz Science (APCOPTS) which is envisioned as the future Asian version of the ICOPS series of conferences. The ICOPS2020 was initially planned as an onsite physical conference from May 24 to 28, 2020, at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was shifted to online virtual conference. The conference’s technical program included a wide range of plasma science and technology topics, which ranged from basic and fundamental research to traditional and emerging technology applications. Since the ICOPS2020 was co-organized with APCOPTS, it also had a very strong coverage of fields related to terahertz science and applications. A total of 627 presentations from scientists and participants from over 41 countries were made at ICOPS2020 with a record total registration of 754. All presentations were recorded and were available to the registered participants for 90 days after the conference was over. The program also included a women-in-engineering talk by Jackie Y. Background: At the 7th Electropalatography Symposium in Japan, held online on the 24 January 2021, a few speakers were invited to talk about how the COVID‐19 pandemic had impacted their research and/or speech therapy that involved the use of electropalatography (EPG) as well as the procedures adopted in order to continue their work in a safe manner. The information on protective measures when using instrumental techniques in speech research and therapy may be useful for colleagues in research and the clinic. Aims: The primary aims are: (1) to find out whether there are any published recommendations regarding protective measures for using EPG in research and clinic settings; (2) to discuss the impact of the pandemic and the corresponding restrictions and general protective measures directed (or advised) by local government and professional bodies at each stage of EPG work; and (3) to share experiences in using modified procedures for face‐to‐face EPG therapy sessions and combined EPG teletherapy. In addition, a brief overview of EPG and a summary of EPG research and clinical activities in Japan presented by one of the symposium organizers at the symposium are included. Methods & Procedures: A review of the literature regarding protective measures recommended for using EPG for speech assessment and treatment or research, supplemented by a discussion of our own experiences. Main Contribution: The literature review showed that there are no guidelines regarding protective measures for using EPG, but there is some advice regarding speech recording using microphones. Most published articles related to speech and language therapy (SLT) service during COVID‐19 are about telepractice or general clinical guidelines for face‐to‐face speech therapy sessions. The protective measures for using EPG developed based on the general guidelines recommended by local government and professional bodies (e.g., using visors, transparent acrylic board) were described. Using EPG in telepractice was discussed as well. Conclusions: It has been challenging to continue EPG research and therapy during the pandemic. In order to deal with this crisis, available knowledge regarding infection control and recommendations from local government and professional bodies were applied to design methods and procedures that allowed EPG research and therapy to continue. What this paper adds: What is already known on the subject: There are general protective measures recommended by local government and professional bodies regarding speech therapy sessions (e.g., using personal protective equipment (PPE), social distancing), but little is known about the measures for using instrumental techniques in speech research and therapy, particularly EPG. The equipment of each instrumental technique is different, so measures that are appropriate for one may not be suitable for others. Hence, specific recommendations are needed for EPG. What this paper adds to existing knowledge: This paper provides pointers to information about recommendations regarding protective measures for speech research and therapy, supplemented with suggestions specific to EPG provided by experienced users based on actual experience. What are the potential or actual clinical implications of this work?: In evaluating the impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on EPG research and therapy, an analytical approach was taken to break down the steps involved in carrying out those activities, and the challenges we faced and the possible alternatives for completing the tasks were discussed. Runtime verification (RV) refers to methods for formal reasoning about all aspects of the dynamic execution of systems, including hardware, software, and cyber-physical systems. RV includes techniques to assess and enforce correctness of a system against systemic bugs or extrinsic uncertainties. These methods are typically considered lightweight as they may not involve exhaustive verification or proofs, but they provide a higher level of rigor and versatility compared to conventional testing methods. This article introduces the extended versions of selected papers from the peer-reviewed proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Runtime Verification (RV 2020). Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are a complex category composed of five diseases and five behavioural and environmental risk factors. These are, in turn, represented by multiple constituencies and communities of expertise and interest. This fractured landscape is evidenced by and magnified through an abject lack of conferences devoted to the category of NCDs. One of the very few is the NCD Alliance Forum, most recently held in February 2020 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. With the first Forum held in 2015 and another in 2017, these events offer powerful insight into the key actors, advocacy strategies, debates and aspirations of those working in the 'NCD space'. Using the Forum as its object of research and analysis, this paper critically reflects on two persistent questions facing NCD advocates. First, how might NCDs be more like infectious diseases in cultivating a sense of urgency and action? Second, is NCD advocacy a 'movement' or a 'community' of loosely connected actors? Set against the emerging COVID-19 outbreak, which at the time of the Forum was limited to China and a handful of other countries, the Forum offered a unique opportunity to reflect upon the significant challenges facing NCD advocates across global north and south. COVID-19 only highlights how rising rates of NCDs have made global populations vulnerable to emerging infectious diseases. Yet, as the paper concludes, with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to rage, the future of NCD advocacy and funding looks ever more fragile even as evidence of its need continues to grow. This report provides an overview of the organization and content of the International Conference on Music Education Technology 2023 (ICMdT2023), a hybrid event hosted towards the end of the global lockdown in early 2023. Under the theme 'Unfold the Future of Music Education through Technology', the Conference attracted 640 academics, researchers, practitioners and professionals from different regions, all of whom participated online or in person to exchange and share their experiences and research projects on various aspects of music education through the use of technology. It included 36 workshops and paper presentations, with topics ranging from digital pedagogies for teaching and learning music online to the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and interdisciplinary approaches for music education. Challenges faced by the organizing committee are outlined, coupled with some recommendations for those wishing to host similar events that can improve knowledge exchange and encourage delegates' networking experiences. The 2021 International Conference on Injection Molding of Metals, Ceramics and Carbides, held on February 23–25, became MPIF's first virtual conference due to the COVID pandemic. The program included technical presentations from nine countries around the world, including two key-note presentations (already reported in the previous summary article). Studies and comparisons of binder-jetting, laser-powder bed fusion, and filament printing were included, as well as MIM and ceramic injection molding (CIM). The technical papers were interspersed with presentations from exhibitor companies and the conference sponsor, Nitrex G-M Enterprises. Background: Contact tracing (CT) is a pillar of infection control during outbreaks and its implementation has been great ally in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that pressured national health systems. Digital CT (DCT) aids manual CT by logging proximity contacts and timely notifying contacts of positive cases, contributing to greater epidemic. We aim to systematically review and critically appraise the available evidence on adoption, effectiveness, acceptance and barriers to access of available CT apps. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review by means of Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane and Web of Science and applying the PRISMA guidelines. We classified studies according to selected characteristics (eg, original data, mathematical models, policy papers, overview of the experience with national CT apps) in order to better outline our results. Results: Our queries yielded 1201 articles, of which 790 remained after duplicates’ removal. After applying a priori selected inclusion criteria, 428 (54.17%) were eliminated after screening by title and abstract. 362 records were included in our study: of them 33.7% were original studies, 54.1% were opinion papers not reporting quantitative data, 14.91% were mathematical models, 6% were systematic reviews on DCT-related topics. Among original studies, 11.47% described national experiences and 25.40% discussed adoption dynamics. Conclusions: DCT adoption still faces several cultural, normative and technical barriers, ranging from adoption mandates to privacy issues, to device compatibility. Overall, scant evidence is available on the impact of DCT in controlling infection spread and wide heterogeneity persists within studies in term of design and assessed outcomes Future research is needed based on shared evaluation frameworks. Key messages: Digital contact tracing apps are a powerful but underestimated tool to counter epidemiological emergencies. The Sensors Applications Symposium (SAS) 2020 was the 15th edition of the flagship professional event in the sensor technology and application area organized by the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society (IMS). It brought together sensor developers, innovators, and users, providing a forum for the exploration of new ideas, developments, implementations, and applications in the field. SAS 2020 was scheduled to take place on March 9–11, 2020, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. However, the outbreak of the Covid-19 lead to the sudden and necessary decision of converting the event to a virtual conference. Indeed, IEEE SAS 2020 was arguably the first IMS and one of the first IEEE conferences that took place in that way, thus acting as a model for subsequent events. Nonetheless, the 2020 edition of the IEEE SAS has drawn significant professional interest worldwide leading to receiving 96 submissions of which 73 were accepted for the presentation at the virtual event. The review process of the symposium was designed to ensure the high quality of accepted papers authored by specialists from all over the world. Accepted papers were divided for presentation into ten virtual Oral Sessions and one large virtual Poster Session available for online access by the attendees during the three weeks of the virtual event. Introduction: Integrated primary care (IPC) models have empirical support for improving access to and quality of behavioral health care and can be effectively implemented in a diverse range of formats1. Various studies have demonstrated that primary care service providers tend to positively endorse IPC models of pediatric behavioral health care, especially in comparison to traditional, non-integrated care2-3. However, there is a paucity of research evaluating parent perceptions and attitudes towards behavioral health care, especially when delivered in an IPC setting. The present paper describes a survey tool designed to better understand and meet patient care needs. Methods and Aims: The Parent Acceptance of Pediatric Integrated Care Survey (PAPICS) was developed by a multidisciplinary panel of integrated care experts at the University of Michigan Medicine to evaluate parent perceptions and acceptance of integrated primary care (IPC) models for treatment of behavioral health problems in children. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PAPICS was expanded to include more items focused on virtual services in IPC and revised to address items with poor factor loadings. Methods include Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to analyze and validate the survey. Results: The original 35-item PAPICS was distributed to parents pre-pandemic with children under 18 across the United States and was completed by 422 respondents4. Items on this survey largely pertained to face-to-face care within the clinic and an EFA only was conducted to analyze the data. Parents overwhelming favored an IPC model and supported learning skills to help their child. More variability was evidenced for parents' perceptions of one-on-one talk therapy between their child and the psychologist. Some parents had concerns about stigma and privacy, but agreement was more inconsistent. After the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global pandemic, Michigan Medicine's IPC clinics converted to 100% virtual care. The PAPICS was revised using patient feedback data for applicability to virtual care delivery and was completed by 875 respondents. Conclusions: Data collection from the revised PAPICS was completed in December 2021. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) are presently be conducted and will be reviewed at ICIC22. Results will provide insight into parent perceptions of virtual IPC and allow for comparison to those for face-to-face care. Implications for applicability/transferability, sustainability, and limitations: The PAPICS survey provides a template for assessing beliefs and preferences of families to provide high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health care in an IPC setting. Introduction: This programme evolved from the Complex Case and Recovery Management Framework (The CCaRM1), developed within Merseycare Specialist LD Services. •This value-based platform was being used by the Specialist Support Team (SST) to support people in the community with Learning Disability and Autism diagnosis with complex needs. •With lockdown constraints, the service became reliant on working indirectly through family and carers. Aims & Hypothesis, Theory/Methods: Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 epidemic, several resourceful initiatives were implemented, across the clinical landscape The Self-guided CCaRM Programme was developed under QI framework as a format for on-line workshops with those concerned. For each theme, areas of strengths, concerns, and possible fresh approaches were explored. Subsequently, collaborative care plans were refreshed accordingly. PDSA 2-ONLINE Complex case management workshop 2021-TRAINEEES &TRAINERS: 60-minute slot is proposed, on the end of the NWLD Northwest monthly academic teaching forum meetings, starting from June 2021 The structure of the workshop will borrow the informality and spirit of support from Balint groups. Each session will conclude with an evaluation discussion of workshop usefulness. There were 8 such workshops conducted over the lockdown in PDSA1 and 6 workshops conducted for PDSA 2 Participants included support staff and family members, though no service users in the first PDSA cycle. Second PDSA cycle included educators professionals and trainees of Psychiatry Excellent feedback: that the experience helped with understanding and confidence in roles and generated fresh ideas to try. Introduction: With each month of the COVID-19 pandemic, unmet health and social needs increased. Unfortunately, maintaining up-to-date information on available resources to meet those needs was a challenge. As public health guidance evolved weekly, existing resources, such as food pantries and pharmacies, experienced reduced capacity, shifts to virtual service delivery, and frequent changes in their hours of operations. New resources, such as emergency financial assistance programs, also emerged to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic. In Durham, North Carolina, there was a need for a centralized platform to access accurate resource information. Aims Objectives Theory or Methods: Our team of university student volunteers partnered with a social services non-profit to create, maintain, and disseminate an online directory of health and social care resources in Durham County between May 2020 and October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goals were to ensure the resource directory was (1) publicly accessible, (2) available in English and Spanish, (3) up-todate, (4) amenable to community feedback, and (5) tailored to community needs. For included resources, we captured the name, target recipients, purpose, description, website links, contact info, language access, status during COVID-19, and the date resource information was last updated. Highlights or Results or Key Findings: We sourced and consolidated existing county-level resource directories to centralize information on 370+ resources across 12 health and social care domains (e.g., transportation, housing, medical care). 51+ students across our two organizations worked in small teams by resource domain to update information every few days in spreadsheet format in a Google Sheets platform. The public also contributed updates through a comments feature. Our directory was hosted online by the county public health department and distributed widely via social media, email, and other trusted websites. Our partner non-profit operated a hotline to provide directory navigation support. Targeted dissemination efforts further included (1) integrating the directory into the local health system's intranet, (2) synthesizing resources for paper handouts for in-person distribution at health centers and food pantries, and (3) curating a population-focused directory serving the needs of older adults. Our directory served as the local foundation for a statewide platform now available. Conclusions: Promoting integrated health and social care through cross-sector referrals requires providers to access accurate resource information. Student volunteers mobilized quickly and efficiently to support the information needs of the community when needs were high and resources were constrained. Volunteers are a low-cost, high-value resource to support integrated care efforts. Implications for applicability/transferability sustainability and limitations: Our community resource directory model, facilitated by student volunteers, can be replicated to serve emerging health and social care integration efforts. Essential components included strong relationships with community partners, faculty oversight and guidance, and a defined student leadership structure.
