Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder that is predominantly known for its motor symptoms but is also accompanied by non-motor symptoms, including anxiety., Objective: The underlying neurobiological substrates and brain network changes associated with comorbid anxiety in PD require further exploration., Methods: An analysis of oscillation-specific nodal properties in patients with and without anxiety was conducted using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and graph theory. We used a band-pass filtering approach to differentiate oscillatory frequency bands for subsequent functional connectivity (FC) and graph analyses., Results: The study included 68 non-anxiety PD (naPD) patients, 62 anxiety PD (aPD) patients, and 64 healthy controls (NC). Analyses of nodal betweenness centrality (BC), degree centrality (DC), and efficiency were conducted across multiple frequency bands. The findings indicated no significant differences in BC among naPD, aPD, and NC within the 0.01-0.08 Hz frequency range. However, we observed a specific reduction in BC at narrower frequency ranges in aPD patients, as well as differing patterns of change in DC and efficiency, which are believed to reflect the neurophysiological bases of anxiety symptoms in PD., Conclusions: Differential oscillation-specific nodal characteristics have been identified in PD patients with anxiety, suggesting potential dysregulations in brain network dynamics. These findings emphasize the complexity of brain network alterations in anxiety-associated PD and identify oscillatory frequencies as potential biomarkers. Background: Calcifying pseudoneoplasm of the neuraxis (CAPNON) is indeed a rare central nervous system lesion that can occur in central nervous system (CNS). Due to its infrequency and limited literature reports, it is challenging to diagnose and manage CAPNON. Case presentation: In this intriguing study, we embarked on a quest to uncover the story of a 16-year-old girl who experienced bothersome headaches. Through advanced imaging techniques like computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), we glimpsed a delicate calcified growth within the lateral ventricles' posterior horn. Motivated by our unwavering commitment to solving mysteries, we embarked on a surgical journey that not only freed the young patient from her ailment but also shed light on the true nature of her puzzling adversary—a remarkable CAPNON. Conclusions: For patients with CAPNON who have multiple or non-respectable lesions, the primary goal is to alleviate symptoms. After alleviating the symptoms with partial resection, close monitoring of any residual lesions is essential. Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelioma tumors (DNETs) are rare glioneuronal tumors usually present with partial epilepsy. We analyzed the surgical curative effect of DNETs based on imaging classification. The clinical, neuroimaging, seizure history, neuropathological data, and other medical records of 21 cases of cerebral hemisphere DNETs were collected and analyzed retrospectively. According to the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) classification of Chassoux, these cases were divided into 8 cases of type I (thylakoid type), 6 cases of type II (nodular type), and 7 cases of type III (dysplasia). All patients received detailed preoperative evaluation and underwent surgical treatment. We statistically compared the postoperative seizure outcome of different DNET MRI types by Engel classification. All tumors were surgically removed and pathologically diagnosed as DNETs. The follow-up period was 5–68 months Engel class I outcome was achieved in all type I cases, 3 (50%) type II cases, and 3 (42.9%) type III cases. The postoperative seizure outcome of MRI type I was better than that of type II and III. Based on the MRI classification of DNET by Chassoux, the postoperative epilepsy control of type I is better than that of type II and type III, which may be related to the residual FCD around the tumor of type II and type III. Thus, the MRI classification of DNET can contribute to the preoperative design of the resection plan. Total resection of type I and extended resection of type II, as well as type III, will help to improve the postoperative seizure-free rate in DNET. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We reviewed our institutional experience during a 10-year period for improvement of safety and efficacy of stereotactic biopsy procedures. We performed a retrospective review of inpatient summaries, stereotactic worksheets and radiologic investigations of 208 consecutive patients, who underwent MRI-guided stereotactic biopsies between March 2010 and March 2020. The overall diagnostic yield was 96.2%. CT-confirmed intracranial hemorrhage occurred in 17 patients (8.2%), and the overall mortality rate was 0.5%. Combined MRS and PWI helped target selection in 27 cases (13.0%), the diagnostic yield was 100%. The results of the regression analysis revealed that non-diagnostic biopsy specimen significantly correlated with the cystic trait (p<.01) and edema of lesions (p<.05). Enhancement (p<.01) is shown to be an important factor for obtaining a diagnostic biopsy. Furthermore, the edema trait of lesions (p<.01) showed the important factors of hemorrhage. The radiological features of lesions and use of the most suitable MRI sequences during biopsy planning are recommended ways to improve the diagnostic yield and safety of this technique. Accurately targeting specific regions of interest in the brain is pivotal for the success of neurosurgical procedures. For example, the outcome of brain tumor resection is improved dramatically when surgeons are better able to define surgical borders. Intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) helps reduce the risk of damaging critical areas of the brain and makes it possible to confirm a successful resection or determine the need for further resection prior to closing a patient's head and finalizing the surgery. Here we present a ground-based, iMRI system with a mobile 1-T cryogen-free imager. An ex-vivo experimental test of the novel iMRI system is performed to demonstrate preoperative and intraoperative imaging. The ground-based, mobile iMRI system presented here was successfully used to obtain intraoperative MR images without moving the imaging target or compromising conventional surgical techniques. The success of this experiment constitutes a major milestone towards the installation of a ground-based, high-field, mobile iMRI system in a hospital setting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
