This paper delves into the critical issue of youth suitability in the public primary school campuses in Shenzhen Central District, China. Youths constitute a crucial part of the urban population, contributing greatly to social wealth; thus, considering their needs and well-being is imperative in the urban planning and development process. The paper employs a comprehensive Python script tool, based on ArcGIS, that is augmented with an empirical investigation and data from the statistical yearbook in order to conduct a meticulous evaluation of the youth suitability of primary school campuses. The results of the study reveal spatial differences in the youth suitability of primary school campuses, with the suitability diminishing from the district's inner areas to its outer regions. Additionally, the study unearths that primary school campuses in the Shenzhen Central District are generally stratified, and that the campus service space could be appropriately categorized into several groups based on the dual criteria of accessibility as well as youth suitability. Finally, this study provides illuminating decision-making suggestions for optimizing the youth suitability of primary school campuses in Shenzhen Central District, highlighting the crucial role of education policies, regional economic development, and campus infrastructure improvements in nurturing inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable urban environments. Urban reservoir is one of the important urban drinking water sources, and it is of important significance to ensuring the safety of urban water supply. The water quality of the reservoir is an important factor affecting the safety of water supply. Timely and accurate water quality prediction is very important for the formulation of a scientific and reasonable reservoir water supply plan. Considering the problem of high requirement of basic data in constructing water quality hydrodynamic physical model, this paper established a new data-driven model of water quality prediction in urban reservoir based on the Long and Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model, and the water quality data's decomposition is implemented through the Complete Ensemble Empirical Modal Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (CEEMDAN) method. This model can not only realize the water quality prediction during different foreseen periods, but also solve the problem of low prediction accuracy caused by the randomness and large volatility of the measured data. Taking Xili Reservoir in Shenzhen of China as an example, the prediction of water concentration including total nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus and PH value of Xili reservoir was realized based on historical monitoring data. Through simulation calculation, the prediction results of total nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus and PH value in the water quality prediction model are highly consistent with the measured results, it is found that the simulation effect is good, and this model can well simulate the reservoir's water quality concentration change process. For the total nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen, the relative prediction error of the model can be controlled below 10%, which shows the rationality of the built model. China has pledged that it will strive to achieve peak carbon emission by 2030 and realize carbon neutrality by 2060, which has spurred renewed interest in hydrogen for widespread decarbonization of the economy. Hydrogen energy is an important secondary clean energy with the advantage of high density, high calorific value, rich reserves, extensive sources and high conversion efficiency that can be widely used in power generation, transportation, fuel and other fields. In recent years, with the guidance of policies and the progress of technology, China's hydrogen energy industry has developed rapidly. About 42% of China's carbon emissions comes from the power system and Shenzhen has the largest urban power grid in China. Bringing the utilization of hydrogen energy into Shenzhen's power system is an important method to achieve industry transformation, achieve the "double carbon" goal and promote sustainable development. This paper outlines the domestic and international development status of hydrogen energy, introduces the characteristics of Shenzhen new power system, the industrial utilization of hydrogen energy and the challenges of further integrating hydrogen energy into Shenzhen new power system and, finally, suggests on the integration of hydrogen energy into Shenzhen new power system in different dimensions. As an economically intensive city within the greater bay area (GBA), Shenzhen has suffered from severe ozone pollution in recent years. Numerical modeling is an important tool in daily air quality prediction. However, a combination of factors, such as outdated emission inventories and the uncertainty of weather and numeric models, pose challenges for accurately forecasting pollution periods and levels. Therefore, systematic evaluation of the numerical model performance is crucial for better manual revised prediction of the daily MAD8h and air quality index (AQI). In this paper, a multimodel air quality forecast system, which was built in our public-owned monitoring center station, was evaluated to understand the possibilities of improvements. Based on the 2021 observed data of the national air monitoring station, we utilized a series of metrics to access the predicted air quality index (AQI) and pollution concentration levels from models (including WRF-CMAQ, NAQPMS, and WRF-CHEM) and compared them to the manual prediction. The results indicated that WRF-CMAQ performs outstandingly in comprehensive analysis, with a yearly 24 h (hour) forecast accuracy (A) exceeding 91%. The NAQPMS 24 h forecast presented the lowest accuracy (A = 71%) with a high overprediction rate. The forecast accuracy of WRF-CHEM and NAQPMS in the winter period was 100%. However, frequently changing weather patterns interfered with spring forecasting. Forecasters can accurately predict mild pollution cases (A = 81.8% for 24 h, A = 72.7% for 48 h), whereas numerical models (NAQPMS and WRF-CHEM) showed better sensitivity to moderate pollution cases. For fine particulate evaluation, CMAQ's low biases occurred in winter, and the manually revised air quality forecast (MRAQR) normally gave higher prediction values except in pollution cases. Model underestimation could be explained by missing the long-range dust transport contribution from the northern part of China. The ozone 24 h forecast part revealed that WRF-CMAQ exhibited the highest correlation coefficient (R = 0.70, 19.74% < RMSE < 42.7%), whereas NAQPMS showed relatively poor results with the highest ME (43 μg/m3) and MFE (41.92%). Close examination of synoptic information revealed that ozone pollution cases were subjected to the western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH) system, tropical cycle, and regional strong pollution transport. The NAQPMS ozone overprediction could be explained by the overestimation of troposphere transmission from the surroundings during nonconductive weather patterns. Since 2008, the urban redevelopment in China has entered a new era mainly characterised by the new redevelopment model proposed and practised in Guangdong province. In the new wave of urban redevelopment towards a more inclusive type of governance, the roles of various agents or stakeholders in the decision-making processes have changed correspondingly. Building upon Healey and Barrett's structure and agency approach in the land and property development process, this paper develops an analytical framework specifically to explore the decision-making processes and mechanisms in this urban redevelopment experiment conducted in China. The empirical basis of this paper is a pioneer city in urban redevelopment within Guangdong province, Shenzhen. Through exploring the redevelopment trajectory of a local collective-owned factory, the roles played by different stakeholders at each stage of the redevelopment process are clarified. The conflicts and compromises between land owners and the developer on the distribution proportion of potential profits, and between the district government and the developer on the inclusion and provision of public facilities, have revealed the key decision-making mechanisms of collective-owned industrial land redevelopment in China, which offer valuable insights and experiences for industrial land redevelopment in other cities. • An analytical framework is developed to explore the decision-making processes. • The case study reveals the roles of actors and their interaction patterns. • Various stakeholders have their own rights to participate in the negotiation arena. • The developer has become a key coordinator to ensure the decision-making process. • The roles of the municipal and district governments have changed fundamentally. The lead trade associations of the bio-pharma and semiconductor industries have differed systematically in their roles in facilitating the development of innovation networks between Shanghai and Shenzhen, two prominent high-tech metropolises in China. Divergent associational roles stem from variations in the regional state policy regime that has exerted differential shaping influence on the structure of social cleavages and strength of reciprocity norms among member firms and on their willingness to actively and cooperatively engage in association-led networking activities. The bio-pharma and semiconductor associations whose network-building roles have been structured differently through varied state policy regimes have displayed dissimilar abilities to reduce network failures and promote the innovation competences of their member firms between the two metropolises. The empirical findings of the article carry important implications for understanding the causes and consequences of varied associational roles in the process of technology development in China, other emerging markets, and beyond. With the expansion of the global novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, unprecedented interventions have been widely implemented in many countries, including China. In view of this scenario, this research aims to explore the effectiveness of population mobility restriction in alleviating epidemic transmission during different stages of the outbreak. Taking Shenzhen, a city with a large immigrant population in China, as a case study, the real-time reproduction number of COVID-19 is estimated by statistical methods to represent the dynamic spatiotemporal transmission pattern of COVID-19. Furthermore, migration data between Shenzhen and other provinces are collected to investigate the impact of nationwide population flow on near-real-time dynamic reproductive numbers. The results show that traffic flow control between populated cities has an inhibitory effect on urban transmission, but this effect is not significant in the late stage of the epidemic spread in China. This finding implies that the government should limit international and domestic population movement starting from the very early stage of the outbreak. This work confirms the effectiveness of travel restriction measures in the face of COVID-19 in China and provides new insight for densely populated cities in imposing intervention measures at various stages of the transmission cycle. Debate on the shift from a monocentric to polycentric urban structure has been extensive. Polycentricity generally refers to the co-existence of several centers in a city. Existing studies regarding China have mainly focused on the morphological characteristics of urban centers, but few recent studies have focused on functional dimensions of urban centers. Emerging big data sources provide new opportunities to explore the morphological and functional perspectives of urban spatial structure. This study uses mobile phone signaling data and develops a new methodology to measure urban centers' functional centrality. The study area focuses on Shenzhen City, which has rapidly transformed from a village into a metropolitan city in the past few decades. As the first economic special zone in China, Shenzhen has adopted a polycentric urban plan since the beginning of the urbanization process. This study explores the spatial employment structure of the city from the morphological and function dimensions. Analysis of sea-level observations demonstrates that Typhoons Mawar (2017) and Mangkhut (2018) induced seiches in both Dapeng Bay and Daya Bay near Shenzhen of China, with periods varying from about 3.5 to 4.0 h. Typhoon Mawar (2017) also generated seiches with a period of about 1.2 h. Seiches with such periods in the two bays have not been reported in the past. In this study, we investigate the main processes affecting seiches over these coastal waters using a nested-grid ocean circulation modeling system. The modelled results of typhoon-induced seiches agree well with observations, which indicates that the seiches after the passage of typhoons are dynamically free waves generated by the storm-induced accumulation of water bodies in the two bays. Model sensitivity experiments show that wind directions have an important influence on the type and characteristics of seiches. When the wind stress causes the water body to accumulate in a cross-bay direction, seiches in a closed water body are generated. When the wind stress causes the water body to accumulate in an along-bay direction, seiches in a semi-closed water body are produced. Because of the irregularity of the bathymetry and coastline and variability of wind directions, these two types of seiches can exist simultaneously in the two bays. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Chinese government has been reforming the health care system by developing a primary care system. The objectives of this study were to compare the willingness to use and satisfaction with community health care centres (CHCs), a component within the Chinese primary care system, between locals and migrants living in Luohu, Shenzhen, China. A 2019 cross‐sectional survey data that interviewed 1,205 adult residents living in Luohu district were used for secondary data analysis. Two identifications of migrants were used for analysis, Shenzhen hukou status and urban village status. Linear probability models were used to determine relationship between migrants' status and the outcome variable of willingness to use CHCs and order logistic regression were used to determine the association between migrants' status and the outcome variable of satisfaction with CHCs. Among participants, 37.6% of the participants had Shenzhen hukou. Using the classification of urban village status, 29.1% of participants were urban villagers. Urban villagers were less likely to know the location of nearest CHCs and less likely to select CHCs as their frequently used health care institutions. No statistically significant difference was found on willingness to use CHCs or satisfaction with CHCs between Shenzhen hukou and non‐Shenzhen hukou. But urban villagers were more satisfied with attitude and medical skills of health care workers. Our findings indicated that policymakers and social professionals need to adjust the organization and functioning of primary care institutions in the community to increase awareness and utilization of primary care services.
