The impossible trinity suggests that an economy cannot simultaneously achieve a fixed exchange rate, high capital mobility, and independent monetary policy without abandoning one of these. However, This paper looks at Indonesia's experiences from the 2009 QE and the 2013 taper tantrum, considering why Indonesian policy-makers were unable to use policies as per the trilemma, and the policy implications of this. There are three possible reasons why Indonesia found it difficult to implement this trilemma policy choice: differing monetary policy objectives, volatile floating exchange rates, and balance sheet effects. The commodity supercycle also plays an exogenous role, unable to be overcome by monetary or exchange rate policy while at the same time impacting fiscal policy, income redistribution, trade balance, and the exchange rate. Overall, this paper argues that monetary policy on its own is likely to be insufficient to manage the economy adequately. Other levers and factors, such as macroprudential policy, fiscal policy, capital flow management, and institutional quality, are critical to make the policy choices more effective. This paper examines the unsettling stories of poverty from rural Indonesia in two films, Siti (2014) and Turah (2016). The concept of structural poverty enables a thorough analysis of these films' depictions of poverty and the main characters' reactions to the poverty they experience. This paper also employs the concept of gendered poverty to highlight how gender injustice perpetuates the poverty of women, as depicted in the films. Both structural and gendered poverty are propagated by the interpellation of ideological state apparatuses. This paper argues that the poverty of the rural people depicted in both films results from structural engineering by the elite, not from natural or inevitable conditions. This poverty is further intensified by the patriarchal culture of rural communities, which perpetuates gender inequality and results in deeper poverty for women. Every woman in these two films seems to have accepted, or at least resigned herself to, the patriarchal system and the gendered poverty it produces. The sole exception is Siti, who struggles against the double burden of being both housewife and breadwinner, resisting the naturalization of poverty and thereby revealing the role that ideological state apparatuses play in perpetuating oppression in society writ large as well as in individuals' minds and souls. In the past three decades, there has been a rise in young academy movements in the Global North and South. Such movements, in at least Germany and the Netherlands, have been shown to be quite effective in connecting scientific work with society. Likewise, these movements share a common goal of developing interdisciplinary collaboration among young scientists, which contributes to the growth of a nation's--but also global--scientific endeavors. This paper focuses on the young academy movement in the fourth-largest country hosting the biggest Muslim population in the world, which is also the third-most populous democracy: Indonesia. We observe that there has been rising awareness among the young generation of scientists in Indonesia of the need to advocate for the use of sciences in responding to upcoming and current multidimensional crises. Science advocacy can be seen in their peer-based identification of Indonesia's future challenges, encompassing the fundamental areas for scientific inquiry, discovery, and intervention. We focus on the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences (ALMI) and its network of young scientists. We describe ALMI's science communication practice, specifically SAINS45 and Science for Indonesia's Biodiversity, and how they have been useful for policymakers, media, and school engagements. This paper aims to determine the legal position of laws that use the omnibus method in the system of laws and regulations in Indonesia. The focus of the research focused on the legal position of laws using the omnibus method in terms of the provisions of Article 97A of the Law on the Establishment of Laws and Regulations. Using the normative juridical method through literature study, this paper concludes that with the characteristics of laws that use the omnibus method based on the regulations in Article 97A of the Law on the Establishment of Laws and Regulations, these provisions result in inconsistencies in norms with the provisions of the hierarchy of laws and regulations regulated by Article 7 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2), provision number 223 Annex II Law on the Establishment of Laws and Regulations, as well as deviating the principle of legal preverence, namely the principle of lex posterior derogate legi priori. The vagueness and inconsistency in the formulation of Article 97A norms results in legal uncertainty, thus contradicting the guarantee of legal certainty as mandated by Article 28D paragraph (1) of the NRI Constitution of 1945. Women tend to be object and victims of climate change impact. International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2020 found that gender-based violence was aligned with climate and environmental crisis in various developing countries. In addition, 9.9 women got affected heavily from natural disaster in Indonesia (BPS, 2017). Meanwhile, only 20% of women leadership constitutes the entire energy sector (WEF, 2022). Another important statement from IPCC (2022) said that women (particularly pregnant women) became highly impacted from climate crisis. The Assessment Report on the State of Gender Equality and Climate Change in ASEAN (2022) built evidence on the importance of recognizing women's roles in climate action in ASEAN countries. In light to this background, this paper will analyse the critical complexities of ASEAN women leadership towards climate action in order to evaluating the implementation of SDGs goal 5 and 13. To have further deep analysis, this paper will explore the case study of Balinese and Cambodian women who have best practices of climate action, locally, nationally and globally, which also enhance ASEAN countries commitment on SDGs. Some of the best practices in Cambodia include a Renewable Energy (RE) programme that actively engaged with and promoted women-led energy enterprises by implementing "The Smoke Free Village" approach and training women as champions for gender-transformative Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Meanwhile in Bali, Balinese women play an important role in climate action by establishing the Bali Women Climate Entrepreneur Project that encouraged 10 start-ups joining the program and many other best practices to be explored further. As a methodology, the best practices of women leadership in both countries will be collected through literature reviews, interview, and statistics from Balinese and Cambodia government/SDGs centre, and other relevant documents' review. From those sources, this paper is expected to be the guidance of mapping women leadership in climate action and also become a guidance on how to develop effective communication for women in ASEAN region on climate change. The “Internet of things” phenomenon in Industrial Revolution 4.0 provides great opportunities that support and facilitate collaboration. However, to achieve effective collaboration, there are many challenges that the government must anticipate. This descriptive literature study summarizes the results of studies related to the public policy process in local governments that are expected to answer the challenges of bureaucratic reform toward Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Indonesia. This paper uses a descriptive literature study on secondary data for 2016-2023. The results of this descriptive literature study found two subdiscussions which include, bureaucratic reform inconsistency and adaptation to various crisis dynamics. Inconsistency in bureaucratic reform can occur due to a lack of commitment and competence, the professional expertise capacity of bureaucrats, and the emergence of competition between bureaucracy and other actors. In adapting to various crisis dynamics, the ineffectiveness of implementing a public policy appears, so that more proactive activities are needed to mobilize public aspirations, openness to management system approaches, and relevant technological developments as one of the solutions. The governance of the street vendor economy has always been an important part of the social grass-roots governance. To stimulate the economy and ensure employment in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era, the Chinese government's policy towards the street vendor economy has transitioned from prohibition to legalization. This paper traces the three distinct historical phases of China's economic policy concerning street stalls in the 21st century, shedding light on the resistance encountered during the process of legalization. Subsequently, it uses policy comparative analysis to explain the legislative transition and the underlying reasons for these changes in three major Chinese metropolises: Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing. The results show that the city's legislative turning and diversion strategies cannot achieve the expected effect. So the paper proffers suggestions for future policy-making. Purpose: This paper aims to identify the reasons why cases of leakage of patient personal data often occur in the health sector. This paper also analyzes personal data protection regulations in the health sector from a comparative legal perspective between Indonesia, Singapore and the European Union (EU). Design/methodology/approach: This type of research is legal research. The research approach used is the statute approach and conceptual approach. The focus of this study in this research is Indonesia with a comparative study in Singapore and the EU. Findings: Cases of leakage of patient personal data in Indonesia often occur. In 2021, the data for 230,000 COVID-19 patients was leaked and sold on the Rapid Forums dark web forum. A patient's personal data is a human right that must be protected. Compared to Singapore and the EU, Indonesia is a country that does not yet have a law on the protection of personal data. This condition causes cases of leakage of patients' personal data to occur frequently. Research limitations/implications: This study analyzes the regulation and protection of patients' personal data in Indonesia, Singapore and the EU to construct a regulatory design for the protection of patients' personal data. Practical implications: The results of this study are useful for constructing regulations governing the protection of patients' personal data. The regulation is to protect the patient's personal data like a patient's human right. Social implications: The ideal regulatory design can prevent data breaches. Based on the results of comparative studies, in Singapore and the EU, cases of personal data leakage are rare because they have a regulatory framework regarding the protection of patients' personal data. Originality/value: Legal strategies that can be taken to prevent and overcome patient data breaches include the establishment of an Act on Personal Data Protection; the Personal Data Protection Commission; and management of patients' personal data. Purpose: The major purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating role of job competency in the effect of transformational leadership to performance of university lecturers. This article also attempts to examine the direct effect of transformational leadership on job competency and lecturer performance. Design/methodology/approach: For the purpose of the study, quantitative research was applied by conducting an empirical survey with the active participation of 223 lecturers. The survey was conducted in ten high-ranked private universities in Jakarta, Indonesia. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed for the measurement and structural model analyses. Findings: The results reveal that the effect of transformational leadership on lecturer performance is expressed only by indirect effect (through lecturer competency). Even though transformational leadership has a positive direct effect on lecturer performance, it is not statistically significant. This paper highlights the crucial role of lecturer competency in the performance of academic scholars. The findings suggest transformational leadership is fundamental in fostering competencies, which, in turn, improve the work performance of university lecturers. Originality/value: This study makes significant contributions to the understanding of the interaction between transformational leadership and performance in higher education, and the statistical significance of lecturer work competency in mediating this relationship. Economic zones can be powerful drivers of economic growth in developing countries. However, less is known about their distributional impact on the local society. This paper provides empirical evidence from Indonesian provinces on the relationship between economic zones and within-province income inequality. We apply fixed-effects panel estimation to province-level data for the whole of Indonesia, which we then complement with separate studies on the opening of three economic zones in three provinces using the synthetic control method. The results suggest that the above relationship is positive overall. The estimated rise in income inequality after a zone opens is, however, relatively small on average and may be short-lived. Moreover, the average estimate masks large regional differences, which suggests that the inequality implications of economic zone policies depend on local conditions. The popularity of batik reflects consumer demands for purchasing fulfillment. Digital technology can bring several advantages and new opportunities to the custom batik design process. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is a popular digital tool used. This paper will provide the new User Interface (UI) design of CAD custom design batik, namely Batik 4.0. It's software developed to provide services, such as pattern customization in various sizes, batik character input system, pricing, and production time estimation utilized by the batik industry in Indonesia that can be directly forwarded to the manufacturing process. Research in UI design for CAD batik has not been studied, and this paper will fill the significant gap and upgrade the usability. This evaluation will test the usability of the test, employing the performance matrix and RTA towards UI that already exists. Improvement was made with a wireframe using human-computer interaction (HCI) and usability testing data. User-centered design (UCD) focuses on the role of the user in the process of system development as the wireframe design method. This research shows UI wireframe design for several types of users. In making the UI wireframe design, a usability evaluation was performed again. The evaluation result shows that the new user prototypes have fewer errors and exceed the usability value compared to the previous one. This paper is situated within the discussion of mega-urbanization, a particular urbanization process that entails a large-scale agglomeration. In this paper, our focus is on urbanization in Java, Indonesia's most dynamic region. We add to the literature by investigating the change and prediction of the land use/land cover (LULC) of mega-urbanization in Java. This research uses a vector machine approach to support the classification of land cover change dynamics, cellular automata-Markov (CA Markov), and the Klassen typology technique. This paper indicates that major metropolitan areas are still expanding in terms of built-up areas, generating a larger urban agglomeration. However, attention should be also given to the urbanization process outside existing metropolis' boundaries given that more than half of the built-up land coverage in Java is located in non-metropolitan areas. In terms of future direction, the projection results for 2032 show that the Conservative scenario can reduce and slow down the increase in built-up land on the island of Java. On the other hand, the Spatial Plan (RTRW) scenario facilitates a rapid increase in the LULC of built-up land from 2019. The urban spatial dynamics in Java raises challenges for urban and regional planning as the process is taking place across multiple administrative authorities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dialysis is a replacement therapy for patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Patients on dialysis are at high risk of acquiring hepatitis C virus (HCV), which has become a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in this population. There is a wide range of prevalence of HCV in dialysis populations around the world. It is still unknown how prevalent HCV infection is among worldwide dialysis patients (including those undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis). A review was conducted to estimate the global epidemiology of hepatitis C in dialysis patients. We searched PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (Embase), Global Index Medicus and Web of Science until October 2022. A manual search of references from relevant articles was also conducted. Heterogeneity was evaluated by the χ2 test on Cochrane's Q statistic, and the sources of heterogeneity were investigated using subgroup analysis. In order to assess publication bias, funnel plots and Egger tests were conducted, and pooled HCV prevalence estimates were generated using a DerSimonian and Laird meta-analysis model. The study is registered with PROSPERO under CRD42022237789. We included 634 papers involving 392160 participants. The overall HCV case fatality rate was 38.7% (95% CI = 28.9–49). The global prevalence of HCV infection in dialysis population group were 24.3% [95% CI = 22.6–25.9]. As indicated by UNSD region, country, dialysis type, and HCV diagnostic targeted; Eastern Europe had the highest prevalence of 48.6% [95% CI = 35.2–62], Indonesia had 63.6% [95% CI = 42.9–82], hemodialysis patients had 25.5% [95% CI = 23.8–27.3], and anti-HCV were detected in 24.5% [95% CI = 22.8–26.2]. Dialysis patients, particularly those on hemodialysis, have a high prevalence and case fatality rate of HCV infection. Hemodialysis units need to implement strict infection control measures. This paper is to examines the effect of TL and talent management on job satisfaction. It also purposes to determines the meditating role of POS in relationship between transformational leadership and talent management on job satisfaction at the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia. This explicit research uses quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modelling via Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) method to carried out the evaluation of the measurement model, the evaluation of the structural model and the evaluation of the goodness and fit model. Total of the responses are 135 government employees in 15 divisions. Primary data was obtained by distributing questionnaires through print out paper and online. The result based on pvalue shows that TL has negative insignificant effect on job satisfaction, TM has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, POS has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, TL has a positive and insignificant effect on job satisfaction meditated by POS, TM has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction meditated by POS. Pronunciation is an area of language, which is easy to recognize and see. When a language learner makes an error in pronunciation, other people can identify the error easily. Mispronunciations are common errors that happen to English language learners in the Expanding Circle, in which English is a foreign language, like Indonesia. This paper deals with mispronunciations made by Indonesian language learners. The respondents were 14 Procedural Writing class students in an English Language Education Program at a private university in Indonesia. They took the course during the pandemic era. The classes were therefore done online, and each virtual class was recorded. These students were videorecorded when reading certain parts of texts in the course. The findings showed that the 14 students made some mispronunciations due to several reasons like habits of pronouncing words in Indonesian and a lack of knowledge of the ideal notion of native speakers' pronunciation. It is hoped that this paper can be useful for EFL teachers teaching pronunciation as well as for students who are still struggling with their pronunciation in their efforts to gain native-like proficiency. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a cutting-edge and cost-effective solution for transforming the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. The BIM methodology enables the creation of a digital three-dimensional (3D) model that can be incremented and updated as all disciplines and stages of a building project are developed. The idea of integrating Building Information Modelling (BIM) with Project Controls, which uses the fourth dimension (time) and fifth dimension (cost) of BIM, will be proposed to management as an alternative way to optimize the process of generating Project Schedules and Cost Estimation from BIM software-generated design. By using the MADM method with the non-compensatory and compensatory models, the attributes scoring result from each alternative shows that integrating the combination of BIM 4D and 5D into the company's business process has the highest score compared to partial integration (4D or 5D) and conventional way (not using BIM). This integration will improve the accuracy of the schedule and cost estimate, simplifying the working flow, lowering the risk of miscalculation, and increasing the return on investment for the company. Project-based learning (PjBL) is a student-centred approach focusing on experiential learning. The approach has been widely used in the field of sciences and mathematics but not in social sciences, particularly in English writing skills. As PjBL gains popularity as one of the 21st century teaching and learning approaches, there is a need to identify the trends, key authors, significant countries, and findings related to PjBL in writing. This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) conducted on 17 articles from the year 2018 to 2023 from the Scopus database following the PRISMA guideline. The study focused on PjBL and English writing, employing a systematic literature review to analyse trends, countries, authors, and journals. The analysis reveals dynamic trends of PjBL in the writing field. While the publication output fluctuated over the years, Indonesia emerged as a major contributor, signifying a global interest. A diverse distribution of articles across journals and countries underscores the global impact of PjBL, with notable contributions from Malaysia, China, and Russia. This paper synthesises the key themes from the literature review, emphasising the improvement in writing skills through PjBL and its challenges. The findings underscore PjBL's potential in transforming English writing education, emphasising the importance of addressing challenges for effective integration. The study contributes to the literature through a systematic analysis, providing insights into the trends and recommendations in PjBL in English writing research. The implementation of the life of the nation and state is inextricably tied to the divine values encapsulated in Pancasila and the Constitution. However, the current reality of Indonesia's diverse nation poses a challenge to these divine values. The absence of barriers between individuals, as exemplified by their interactions and the formation of families through marriage, has resulted in the dissolution of ethnic, cultural, and religious distinctions. Consequently, some couples entering into marriage no longer consider their ethnic and cultural background as a determining factor in their relationship. The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, it aims to analyse the views of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia on the phenomenon of interfaith marriages in Indonesia; second, it seeks to provide confirmation of the actual legal status of these marriages. In order to achieve this, this paper employs a normative legal research methodology, utilising both a statutory and conceptual approach in its investigation. From a conceptual standpoint, marriage encompasses not only its legal and private aspects, but also its religious aspects. Therefore, the state relinquishes its authority to determine the legitimacy of marriage to religious law, which, by its nature, discourages interfaith marriages. This paper concludes that Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution do not acknowledge the existence of interfaith marriages, as they are deemed incompatible with divine values. Accordingly, the judiciary should refrain from recognizing interfaith unions. Purpose: In Indonesia, the Islamic Economics and Finance Sector is growing rapidly, but the literature on Islamic financial literacy is still minimal. This study aims to show research opportunities with the theme of Islamic financial literacy, especially inclusive Islamic financial planning through bibliometric analysis of Scopus and connected papers. Design/methodology/approach: A comma separated value (CSV) file containing more than 2,000 references meta data was used for analysis on Vos Viewer in the period of 1963–2020. The grouping of network visualization maps is done using six keywords, namely, "Financial Literacy," "Financial Inclusion," "Islamic Financial Literacy," "Financial Planning," "Personal Finance" and "Household Finance." Findings: The findings complement the keywords that are generally used as references in the formation of theories regarding inclusive Islamic financial planning. After combining the "ris" file from the connected paper, the most used terms are financial knowledge, financial education, financial behavior, financial decision-making process, financial inclusion, risk sharing and financial discourse. Originality/value: The proportion which planned to be applied in Indonesia will differentiate the inclusive Islamic financial planning framework from what has been done before. Tidal energy is considered as one of the most promising forms of renewable energy generation due to its environmental friendliness and predictability. The goal of this work is to conduct a thorough literature review on various approaches for optimizing tidal energy output in Indonesia. Tidal current research published between 2014 and 2022 were chosen for further investigation based on literature criteria. The selected primary papers revealed that contemporary tidal energy research focuses on four subjects and trends: resources, numerical modeling, geographic information systems (GIS), and experimental studies. This paper discusses gender equality and career opportunities among female civil servants for better public services in a regency in West Java, Indonesia. Those two areas have not been considered comprehensively in terms of the goals of gender equality and career opportunities. The purposes of this paper are to describe the number of available positions in relation to the number of female civil servants, the socio-cultural outlook on female civil servants in relation to gender equality and career opportunities and socio-cultural views on gender equality and a career in politics. To achieve these three objectives, this paper used a qualitative approach with survey and interview techniques. The results showed that only 37% of the official positions were presided by female civil servants. In contrast, male civil servants occupy 63% of the available positions, the sociocultural view of female civil servants affirms that they are still regarded as male companions; in addition, female civil servants do not need to compete with gender opponents, including the fact that women enter politics because the political world is considered dirty for women. Leptocybe invasa Fisher & La Salle, 2004 (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), is a gall wasp that infests Eucalyptus L'Hér. (Myrtaceae) species and their crosses in nurseries, orchards and plantations. This pest infests the young plants, coppice shoots and both middle aged and old trees in an ever-increasing number of countries around the world; making it important to record new countries with incidences, as well as new host plants and associated parasitoids of this pest. The objectives of this paper were to record, for the first time, L. invasa galls parasitized by Megastigmus sp. (Hymenoptera: Torymidae) on a new host plant, Eucalyptus brassiana S.T. Blake in Indonesia and key biological data from this association. The number of galls was similar between branch parts (petioles, midribs and stems) and branches. The number of emerged adults differed between their species (L. invasa and Megastigmus sp.) with a higher number for the pest, but similar between branches. The occurrence of L. invasa in Indonesia is alarming as this country is a large producer of paper, pulp and viscose materials from Eucalyptus wood for local and foreign markets. However, its parasitism by Megastigmus opens the possibility to develop biological control programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper focuses on the vital role of Catholic universities in advancing interreligious dialogue in Indonesia: what has been done and what more must be developed. It includes establishing infrastructure for promoting mutual respect and cooperation among students, faculty, and people from different cultural and religious backgrounds. Indonesia is a diverse country with a myriad of religions and beliefs. This diversity is a source of cultural richness and a challenge to interreligious dialogue. This study recommends that Catholic universities build centers for interreligious dialogue to benefit society within the context of cultural and religious traditions. Purpose: This study aims to examine the joint impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the government response on the performance of Islamic and conventional banks. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from a sample of 94 conventional and 14 Islamic banks in Indonesia from March 2020 to September 2021. The system generalized methods of moments estimation is used to analyze the data. Findings: This study finds robust results regarding the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the positive effects of government responses to COVID-19 pandemic on bank performance in Indonesian banking. Moreover, in line with the rise in confirmed COVID-19 cases, a higher government policy responses index improves bank performance, both in conventional and Islamic banks. Practical implications: This paper highlights the importance of the government policy responses index to absorb the negative impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on banking performance. A democratic state may be indicated by the existence of a constitutional institution that has the competence to uphold constitutionalism and defend the constitution. As the guardian of the constitution, the Constitutional Council of the Kingdom of Cambodia (Constitutional Council) and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (Constitutional Court) have the same purpose, namely to uphold constitutionalism and protect the constitution. However, in terms of structure, procedures, and competencies, the Constitutional Council and the Constitutional Court have individual mechanisms. Institutionally, the two judicial bodies occupy different characteristics, but they share the common goal of safeguarding the constitution’s core values. This paper aims to analyze and scrutinize different features of the Constitutional Council and the Constitutional Court by showing the same purpose as the guardian of the constitution. Within this paper, the legal outcomes which is decisions are discussed, particularly the effect of the decisions. In addition, this paper looks into who can be the applicant or can file a complaint and clarifies the qualifications and resignations of judges. This issue continues to showcase the distinctiveness of Islamic economic and financial practices in Indonesia and their potential relevance globally. It covers various aspects, including emerging trends in Islamic economics research, the significance of Islamic economics and finance in the modern economy, institutional performance, financial stability, waqf institutions, and the societal role of Islamic economics and finance. The selection process for the articles followed several rigorous steps. Upon receiving each submission, an initial check was conducted to assess its suitability with the journal's aim and scope. Subsequently, the manuscripts were sent to two appropriate reviewers for a double-blind peer review process. In some cases, manuscripts required multiple rounds of evaluation before final acceptance. The feedback provided by the reviewers played a crucial role in making the final decisions. Upon acceptance, the manuscripts proceeded to the editing stages, where they underwent meticulous proofreading and layout design. Throughout this stage, close and constant communication between our editors and the respective authors was maintained to ensure the clarity and coherence of the final articles. From the numerous submissions received, only 12 outstanding papers were selected for publication. Each of these articles offers valuable contributions to the field of Islamic economics and finance, and they have been carefully chosen for their originality, relevance, and potential impact on the scholarly community. Purpose: This paper aims to examine the impact of financial technology (FinTech) startups on Islamic and conventional banking performance in Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from a sample of 124 conventional and Islamic banks in Indonesia from 2004 to 2018. The two-step generalized methods of moments was used to estimate the system model. Findings: This study finds that FinTech startups have a detrimental effect on bank performance. This study also finds that Islamic banks have low performance compared to conventional banks. However, when FinTech startups interact with Islamic banks, this paper discovers that a greater number of FinTech startups have a positive effect on the performance of Islamic banks, particularly the peer-to-peer lending category. Additionally, this paper finds that FinTech startups improve Islamic banks' performance in both normal and crisis periods. Practical implications: This paper provides recommendations for Islamic bank management and supervisors to deal with FinTech startups during normal and crisis periods by collaborating with FinTech startups and being willing to adopt cutting-edge financial technology applications. Originality/value: This paper provides evidence of the impact of FinTech on the performance of Islamic banks, specifically on peer-to-peer lending and payment startup during the crisis and normal periods. This paper analyses the performance and appropriateness of the Indonesian government's 'good governance' institutional reform aimed at stimulating infrastructure construction. During the 15 years after the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the government attempted to strengthen formal institutions with the goal of improving public investment efficiency and attracting private investors. By analysing policies in the construction industry in terms of company registration, procurement and state enterprises, the paper finds that the outcome was far from what was expected by technocratic-bureaucratic reform promoters as interest groups frequently succeeded in capturing the new institutional system. This paper then challenges the dominant narrative that overwhelmingly blames incomplete institutional reform for Indonesia's slow infrastructure construction. Given the inherent market failure and political challenges in institutional reform, the paper argues that passive developmentalist policies, which resulted in conflictual state–business relations and insufficient public investment, were a prime cause that then set the stage for the emergence of state-led infrastructure development strategy from the mid-2010s. Natural gas is a fossil fuel-generated deep underground containing small amounts of natural gas liquid and non-hydrocarbon gases. Due to its gaseous phase, the volume of natural gas needs to be considered in the distribution process. The capacity of natural gas reserves' production and distance from the gas field to consumer are both related to the cost of production; the smaller the gas reserves, the greater the production cost and the longer the distance the higher the cost per mmscfd. This study will use the multi-attribute decision-making method to determine the most appropriate natural gas distribution model referring to the market priority listing. Besides that, the sensitivity analysis method will also be used in LCCA calculations to obtain the best economic parameters. The result of this study is the highest natural gas price that can be accepted in Indonesia is US$ 6/MMBTU, and the most beneficial model for low-capacity natural gas is CNG, with the potential market that can be reached from a 300 km distance are city gas and power plant. Seeking to assess the current state of international broadcasters (IBs) within the framework of public diplomacy, this paper assesses the relevance of state-sponsored IBs within the contemporary public diplomacy. This paper focuses on the IBs of two neighboring countries, Indonesia and Australia, and political authorities' dynamic support for their services. Data were obtained through desk reviews of IB policies, in-depth interviews, and online observation of the websites of Siaran Luar Negeri (SLN, Indonesia's IB) and ABC Radio Australia (RA, Australia's IB). This paper finds that both countries have continued to use IBs for their public diplomacy, yet 'political parallelism' determines the position and sustainability of each. SLN has had limited political support and faced a series of managerial crises, while RA has enjoyed the fruitful support of the Australian authorities and has been heavily involved in public diplomacy in the Asia–Pacific region. This paper argues that amid intensifying Sino-U.S. rivalry, middle powers in East Asia have contributed towards regional peaceful change through the exercise of good regional citizenship, a concept which draws on and modifies from the more commonly known good international citizenship which is closely associated with middle powers. Specifically, good regional citizenship involves proactively strengthening inclusive multilateralism, enhancing the rules-based order, and contributing to bridging efforts in East Asia. The paper examines the good regional citizenship of two middle powers, namely Australia and Indonesia. It finds that while both countries have exercised good regional citizenship, their specific strategies or the outcomes of their initiatives on regional dynamics have varied as a result of their relations with the respective major powers and their general foreign policy approaches. Australia's good regional citizenship has supported the preservation of U.S. leadership in East Asia vis-à-vis the rise of other regional powers, while Indonesia's good regional citizenship has helped to narrow the gaps among regional actors through mechanisms led by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This conceptual paper analyzes how to develop Muslim-friendly tourism in Indonesia in the new era to increase the number of Muslim tourists. Furthermore, the method is qualitatively based on research questions: (i) What is the government's strategy to develop Islamic finance in Indonesia? (ii) What is Indonesia's strategy for developing halal products and services? (iii) What is the strategy for developing Islamic finance to strengthen Muslim-friendly tourism and the creative economy?. The result showed that the existence of Islamic finance and digital ecosystems are very much needed. Therefore, the implication of this conceptual paper is to provide input and information to stakeholders who have the authority to develop Muslim-friendly tourism in Indonesia; and that there is a need for collaboration and synergy between parties, especially in the Islamic finance industry. Grasping varying purposes of English in scientific publications has become a critical point for many scholars (Cargill & Burgess, 2017). The present study examines the attitudes of Indonesian university teachers towards writing scholarly works in English for publication. It also explored whether teachers' perceptions varied based on gender and specific areas of expertise (English and non-English). Applying the convenience sampling technique, this research included 50 lecturers from public and private institutions in North Sumatra, Indonesia, separated into EFL and non-EFL instructors. Additionally, the participants were split into male and female subgroups. A survey method was utilized to collect the data, and SPSS version 23.0 was adopted to analyze the data. The findings demonstrated that the instructors had a favorable outlook on publishing scholarly works in English. Although there were no statistically substantial distinctions in responses between female and male lecturers or English and non-English lecturers, gender and their area of expertise in education influenced their views on the necessity of authoring academic papers in English for publication. Given that attitude strongly influences whether or not a person will change their behaviour, the degree to which a person has a positive attitude about writing may have a bearing on how effectively they write. Therefore, academics' constructive stances in composing journal articles must be bolstered.
