A study conducted by researchers at Chung Shan Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan, aimed to evaluate the influence of surgical complications on graft survival after kidney transplantation and identify risk factors for these complications. The study found that 13.2% of the 433 patients who underwent kidney transplantation experienced surgical complications, with vascular complications being the most common. Risk factors for surgical complications included cold ischemia time, blood loss, operation time, number of vascular anastomoses, and year of operation. Patients who experienced surgical complications had worse one-year and five-year graft and patient survival.
