With the development of the chemical industry, more and more high-salinity sewage that contains the pollutant phenol. The research in this paper tested Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) phenol degradation with a focus on the Staphylococcus caprae strain SHBCC D10058 ATCC 35538 as the degrading bacteria. In conditions with a 5% salinity medium and 100mg/L initial phenol concentration, after three days of degradation, 46.25% phenol remained. The phenol concentration was initially 220mg/L; after three days of degradation in a 5% salinity condition, 64.74% phenol remained. 65.93% of phenol remained in the medium with an initial phenol concentration of 300mg/L after three days' degradation. When the Microbial Fuel Cell was utilized with only polycarbonate brine (1.6%salinity, 4.07mg/L phenol), the cell had a maximum power output of 30.070mW/m2, and after three days of degradation, 32.31% phenol remained.
