4. Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Reports Findings in Women's Health (Preparation and validation of a predictive model of breastfeeding initiation in the first hour of life).

Abstract

A recent study conducted in Ciudad Real, Spain aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for breastfeeding initiation within the first hour after delivery. The study involved a cohort of 4,827 women who gave birth between 2013 and 2018. Factors such as the number of children, skin-to-skin contact at birth, and dystocic delivery were found to influence the likelihood of breastfeeding initiation. The model demonstrated excellent predictive ability in both the derivation and validation cohorts, and it can be used to identify women at high risk of not initiating breastfeeding within the first hour after delivery.
