Abstract

We explore machine learning strategies and evaluate their viability in distinguishing characteristics that separate secure websites from phishing ones. Given the essential need to defend delicate information and maintain network integrity, we aim to determine the most proficient strategy for identifying phishing websites. Our research focuses on the Random Forest Classifier, illustrating its predominance over other strategies. We have achieved significant improvements in detection rates, with the Random Forest Classifier accomplishing an F1 score of 0.99, precision of 0.99, recall of 0.99, and an AUC of 1.00, outperforming other classifiers. By specifying each strategy and utilizing various assessment methods for visual performance representation, we provide a robust model for phishing detection.

Abstract

The extensive utilization of nitrogen (N) fertilizers within maize cultivation systems has resulted in diminished nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and contributed to nitrogen pollution on a global scale. To assess the ecological repercussions of excessive fertilization, it is imperative to elucidate both the nitrogen use efficiency and the fate of nitrogenous fertilizers upon application. The current research evaluated the potential of a newly developed slow-release nitrogen fertilizer on maize growth and its behavior in soil under controlled conditions. Six different levels of urea fertilizer (UF) and slow-release nitrogen fertilizer (SRNF) were administered within the field, representing 100%, 85%, and 70% of the recommended application rates. The slow-release nitrogen fertilizer (SRNF) exhibited superior performance regarding growth, yield and nutrient retention in comparison to urea fertilizer (UF). Moreover, minimal ammonia emissions were detected with the employment of the slow-release nitrogen fertilizer (SRNF), while other urea-based fertilizers proved inefficient in mitigating ammonia emissions, despite enhancing various growth and yield parameters. The efficiency in nutrient recovery followed a distinct pattern, with polymer-coated fertilizers demonstrating superiority. The plots treated with SRNF displayed significantly higher growth and yield characteristics compared to those treated with urea fertilizer. In terms of NH3 volatilization, the urea fertilizer (UF) treatment at 100% application rate showed higher emissions (1.99 mg g-1) after a 27-day incubation period, as opposed to the slow-release nitrogen fertilizer (SRNF) treatment (1.68 mg g-1). Leaching data indicated that urea fertilizer treatments led to greater losses of NO3-N (2.01 mg L-1) compared to SRNF treatments (0.88 mg L-1).

Abstract

Heavy metal pollution presents significant environmental and public health risks due to its widespread occurrence and resistance to degradation. There is a pressing need for innovative solutions to address the challenge of heavy metal ion removal from water resources. In this review, we highlight recent advancements in emerging catalytic strategies for efficient heavy metal remediation, leveraging various external fields such as electric, mechanical, magnetic, and thermoelectric fields, as well as their synergetic coupling with photocatalysis technology. These novel approaches offer promising avenues for enhancing heavy metal removal efficacy and environmental sustainability. In particular, this review focuses on recent breakthroughs in new materials systems capable of functioning under diverse external fields, heralding future advancements in heavy metal remediation. Finally, we discuss the current challenges and future perspectives in this emerging research area.

Abstract

Recently, bearing fault diagnosis methods based on deep learning have achieved significant success. However, in practical engineering applications, the limited labeled data and various working conditions severely constrain the widespread application of most deep-learning-based fault diagnosis methods. Additionally, many methods focus solely on the amplitude information of samples, neglecting the rich relational information between samples. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel cross-condition few-shot fault diagnosis method based on an adaptive dynamic threshold graph neural network (ADTGNN). The aim of the proposed method is to rapidly identify fault types after they occur only a few times or even once. The adaptive threshold computation module (ATCM) in ADTGNN dynamically assigns thresholds to each edge based on edge confidence, optimizing the graph structure and effectively alleviating the over-smoothing issue. Furthermore, a dynamic threshold adjustment strategy (DTAS) is introduced to gradually increase the threshold with the training iterations, preventing the model from prematurely discarding crucial edges due to insufficient performance. The proposed model’s effectiveness is demonstrated using three bearing datasets. The experimental results indicate that the proposed approach significantly outperforms other comparison methods in cross-condition bearing fault diagnosis.

Abstract

This paper introduces a novel approach for detecting inter-turn short-circuit faults in rotor windings using wavelet transformation and empirical mode decomposition. A MATLAB/Simulink model is developed based on electrical parameters to simulate the inter-turn short circuit by adding a resistor parallel to phase “a” of the rotor. The resulting high current in the new phase indicates the presence of the short circuit. By measuring the rotor and stator three-phase currents, the fault can be detected as the currents exhibit asymmetric behavior. Fluctuations in the electromagnetic torque also occur during the fault. The wavelet transform is applied to the rotor current, revealing an effective analysis of sideband frequency components. Specifically, changes in amplitude and frequency, particularly in d7 and a7, indicate the presence of harmonics generated by the inter-turn short circuit. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of wavelet transformation in analyzing these frequency components. Additionally, this study explores the use of empirical mode decomposition to detect faults in their early stages, observing substantial changes in the instantaneous amplitudes of the first three intrinsic mode functions during fault onset. The proposed technique is straightforward and reliable, making it suitable for application in wind turbines with simple electrical inputs.

Abstract

In this paper, the geodesic motion of neutral and test particles around the time conformal (TC) Dilaton black hole (BH) is investigated using the eϵg(t) as the time conformal factor in which g(t) is an arbitrary function of time and ϵ is a perturbation parameter. The function g(t) leads to (ta) by utilizing the well-known approximate Noether symmetry (ANS). Furthermore, we discuss the effect of magnetic fields and find the location of stable and unstable orbits w. r. t time, graphically. After that, in the presence and absence of a magnetic field, we interrogate the crucial physical parameters such as effective potential (Ueff), effective force (Feff) and escape velocity (ν⊥). We find the unstable and stable regions of particles for different values of angular momentum (Lz) and magnetic field (B) near the TC Dilaton BH. Moreover, the effects of the Dilaton parameter (μ) on neutral and charged particles are also discussed, which provide some new features. The important results in this study could estimate the powerful relativistic jets originating from the BH.

13. Flow injection chemiluminescence determination of copper oxychloride (fungicide) in freshwater and fruits samples employing 1, 10-phenanthroline—H2O2 reaction system.

Abstract

AbstractA flow injection (FI) method employing the reaction between 1,10-phenanthroline (C12H8N2) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in a basic medium (pH 12) with chemiluminescence (CL) detection has been developed to detect copper oxychloride pesticides in freshwater and fruit samples. The experimental conditions were optimized, and a solid phase extraction (SPE) technique modified with cupron was employed for effective phase separation during extraction. Calibration curves for copper oxychloride standard solutions demonstrated linearity over the range of 0.001 to 10 μg L−1, with the regression equation y = 506681x − 422.29 and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.9973 (n = 9). The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were determined to be 2.62 × 10−4 μg L−1 and 7.94 × 10−4 μg L−1, respectively. Relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranged from 2.6% to 4.5%, and the method achieved an injection throughput of 120 h−1. When applied to spiked water and fruit samples, the method showed no significant differences at the 95% confidence level compared to established methods. Recoveries for copper oxychloride were found to range from 96% to 120% (RSD = 1.9 − 5.6%) in fruit samples and from 95% to 110% (RSD = 1.5 − 4.8%) in water samples. 15. Blood group discrepancies in leukemia children: A cross sectional study

Abstract

Objective: To Estimate the frequency of blood group discrepancies among Leukemia Children. Study Design: Cross Sectional study. Setting: University of Child Health Sciences, The Children Hospital Lahore. Period: October to January 2020. Material & Methods: This study was conducted among patients in CH and ICH Lahore, regarding ABO blood group discrepancies in leukemic patients, in the year 2019. A total of 200 samples were processed in order to detect ABO blood group discrepancies by tube method of blood grouping, using antisera-A, antisera-B, antisera-D for forward grouping and A-cells, B-cells and O-cells for reverse grouping. Auto-control was also run by reacting patient’s cell suspension with the patient’s own serum. The collected data were checked for its completeness, consistency and accuracy before analysis. Results: In this study, a total of 200 subjects were included out of which 122 (61%) were male patients and 78 (39 %) were female. Most common age group was 6-10 years. ALL 157(78.5%) and AML 43(21.5%). Blood group discrepancy was found in 5 (2.5%) and all were of Group I. Conclusion: The study found that leukemia (ALL, AML) results in ABO discrepancies that must be resolved by proper serological workup. Both forward and reverse grouping should be performed to investigate the correct ABO blood group in leukemic patients and accurately matched blood must be transfused to these patients.

Abstract

Background and objective: Dates are a high-nutritional-value food that is suitable for humans since they contain major nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and dietary fibers. The current study aimed to determine the level of some heavy metals such as Fe, Pb, Co, Mn, Cd, Cu in the dates (P. dactylifera L.) taken from various regions of Balochistan (Panjgoor and Turbat). Method: The analysis was performed using the atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Results: The results indicated the presence of all the analyzed heavy metals in the samples. The mean detected concentration order of heavy metals is Fe > Pb > Cu > Mn > Cd > Co. The highest average level of Fe was detected and the least average level of Co was determined in dates. Conclusions: It is concluded that the levels of all the detected heavy metals in all varieties of dates were found within the admissible limit of WHO/FAO and ATSDR.

Abstract

The study aims to highlight Pedagogical Translanguaging as a decolonizing tool for the 2nd language English learners in Pakistani academia. Firstly, it explored the opportunities given to students and teachers to exercise translanguaging as a pedagogy in English language teaching (ELT) to promote cultural heterogeneity. Secondly, it uncovered the challenges faced by students and teachers to implement translanguaging as a decolonizing tool to counter imperialistic English language teaching practices. Thirdly, it concluded that translanguaging may prove an effective teaching methodology to make students more confident to use their linguistic repertoire in the 2nd language English learning classrooms. Following a quantitative research methodology, the data were collected through a Google Form from the students of public sector universities. Later, the obtained data were analyzed through SPSS to see the descriptive value of the variables. Abstract

The present study was designed to evaluate the effects of Zinc (Zn) and Boron (B) on agro-morphological and seed quality attributes of Camelina sativa. The experiment consisted of 3 levels (2%, 4% and 6%) of each mentioned nutrients along with control (no application of micronutrients). Means were calculated and subjected to analysis of variance and LSD analysis, at 5 % level of significance. Following parameters viz., plant height (cm), number of branches per plant, number of siliquae per plant, number of seeds per siliquae, thousand seed weight (g), grain yield (kg/ha), harvest index (%), dry matter accumulation (g/m2), crop growth rate (g/m2/day), biological yield (kg/ha), and oil yield (kg/ha) were evaluated. All subjected treatments were tested for every tested parameter, and results revealed significant values comparative to control. It was observed that foliar application of both boron and zinc micronutrients yielded maximum in all parameters in comparison with control which seems promising to improve crop development, oil yield and harvest index of Camelina sativa L.

19. The Estimation of outliers in cognitive networks spectrum sensing

Abstract

The choice of this topic was influenced from the concept that statistical analysis of different attributes representing certain endpoints of behavior during radio communication in cognitive networks was necessary to study the outliers occurring in those parameters. The importance of cognitive radio is explained in detail in the literature review section of this paper. The purpose of this report is to do an overview of emerging patterns in cognitive radio networks and seek an understanding of data by learning what kind of attributes that display outliers during estimation. During the course of this research, it has come to light that study of outliers require preprocessing of data during which certain anomalies of data are studied and then removed thus optimizing the dataset. BACKGROUND: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and substance use disorder (SUD) may have worse clinical outcomes. However, data specific to the hospital admission and mortality rates among IBD patients with SUD are scarce. Our objective was to assess trends in admission, healthcare expenses, and mortality for IBD patients with SUD. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study using the National Inpatient Sample database to analyze SUD (alcohol, opioids, cocaine, and cannabis) among IBD hospitalizations from 2009 to 2019. Abstract

Medicinal plants have great importance to the consumer health, as beside beneficial compounds, plants can accumulate essential and nonessential metals from soil and surrounding environments, leading to consumer health risks. Assuming this, the present study is aimed at evaluating the elemental composition and daily dose standardization based on essential and nonessential trace element presence in of bark, leaves, and roots of Berberis baluchistanica Ahrendt, a common medicinal plant used as a folk medicine in the region. Atomic absorption and flame emission spectroscopy were performed to analyze the presence of essential and nonessential elements manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), sodium (Na), and potassium (K). Among the essential elements, K was present at high concentrations in the bark ( 8926.98 ± 0.32 μ g / g ), leaves ( 7922.77 ± 0.42 μ g / g ), and roots ( 6668.5 ± 0.96 μ g / g ) of the plant. The estimated concentration of Na was higher in leaves ( 1782.56 ± 0.13 μ g / g ), followed by roots ( 1089.5 ± 0.71 μ g / g ) and bark ( 572.8 ± 0.62 μ g / g ). The Fe concentration varied in the range of 394.7 ± 0.3 μ g / g in bark, 1298.3 ± 0.54 μ g / g in leaves, and 1208.9 ± 0.7 μ g / g in roots. The trace transition element Mn was highest in leaves ( 42.7 ± 0.99 μ g / g ), followed by roots ( 33.5 ± 0.94 μ g / g ) and bark ( 22 ± 1 μ g / g ). The Cu concentration was low, ranging from 20.1 ± 0.63 to 22.67 ± 0.7 μ g / g in leaves, bark, and roots. The obtained concentration of nonessential element Pb was relatively lower than the permissible range (10 mgL–1) established by the World Health Organization. The elemental concentrations in all parts were within the set limits for provisional tolerable daily maximum intake (PTDMI) and provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI), and the hazard quotient index (HQ) was below 1 for all toxic metals. The micro and macroelemental distribution and the overall medicinal potential of any medicinal plant can be correlated for dose risk estimation, which will be useful in providing knowledge regarding the contraindication associated with folk medicines. In the present study, based on the elemental composition, it was calculated that the daily safe dose for Berberis baluchistanica is approximately 2-5 g/day of raw powder for an adult, which must not be exceeded to this safe range.

24. Tolerance pattern against the heavy metals and pesticides in Escherichia coliisolated from water samples

Abstract

In this study water samples were investigated for the presence of heavy metals and pesticide resistance in Escherichia coli(E. coli) collected from district Jhal Magsi. Identification of E. coliwas carried out via Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assays. Heavy metals and pesticide resistance were conducted by the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. E. coliwas confirmed by using uidA (623 bp) and usp (515 bp) genes primer. A relatively high resistance rate was observed for Cd and DDT (2, 4 D) with 100% at the concentration of 1600 µl/mL. Samples showed the resistance pattern for Cr with 55% and sensitivity was 45% at 800 µl/mL. Resistance and sensitive percentage of Pb, Co were observed 61, 63, and 39, 37% at 400 µl/mL. Cyanazine resistance and the sensitive percentage were 51 and 49% at 800 µg/mL. For Chlorpyrifos and Carbofuran, 54 and 65% resistance and sensitivity 46 and 35% were measured at a lower range of 400 µl/mL. Excessive use of heavy metals and pesticide pollution in standing water near agriculture fields contributed to accelerating the abundance of multi-pollutant-resistant E. coliin water that could be useful in the bioremediation of pesticides and heavy metals.

25. A case report on penile duplication: A rare congenital anomaly.

Abstract

Introduction: Penile duplication or penile diphallia is a rare congenital anomaly that is mainly associated with renal, anorectal or vertebral anomalies, that is, spina bifida. This condition was first described by Johannes Jacob Wecker in 1609 in Italy. Problem: Its incidence is extremely rare, about one in millions. The aetiology of this condition is unknown up till now; however, it is considered that defect of genital tubercle leads to the formation of diphallia. Methods: The condition is diagnosed clinically, and management depends on the appearance of genitalia and the associated anomalies as well as after taking into account the social and ethical considerations. Most of the time, management involves surgical incision of the non-functioning penis. Results: In this case report, a child of age 10 years presented with double penis since childhood. The child was evaluated clinically and radiologically for any other associated abnormalities, and his non-functional urethra was surgically removed. Objective: To determine effects of respiratory muscles training on cardiopulmonary parameters and quality of life in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. Methodology: This Randomized Control Trial was conducted in Shifa International Hospital Islamabad from September 30, 2019 to December 31, 2019 and 22 patients with Dilated Cardiomyopathy were screened. Subjects were divided into 2 groups by sealed envelope sampling method. Bruce protocol according to ACSM guidelines (3 days per week, starting at shorter duration 5-20 min and progress to 30-40 min) was applied in Group 1. Bruce protocol same as in group 1 combined with Incentive spirometry (10-15 repetitions) and slow breathing technique was applied in Group 2. Tools and Outcome measures of study were EF, LV End systolic dimension, LV End diastolic dimension, QOL, PFT (FEV1, FVC, PEF and FEV1/FVC) and Vitals. Data was analyzed on SPSS version 21. Results: All patients in both groups were male with mean age of 51.65±6.5. Group 2 had improvement in LV End systolic dimension (pre training- 53.73+10.57, Post Training- 52.00+11.84), LV End diastolic dimension (pre training- 56.45+13.21, Post Training-55.45+14.08) as compared to Group 1 with LV End Systolic dimension ( pre training- 52.00+6.89, Post Training-51.56+6.71), LV End Diastolic dimension ( pre training- 60.00+6, Post Training-60.00+6.000). Conclusion: Respiratory muscles training by using bruce protocol combined with slow breathing and Incentive spirometry has significant effects on cardiopulmonary parameters and QOL in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. 31. REASONS OF DONOR DEFERRAL FOR A SINGLE DONOR PLATELETPHERESIS IN A PUBLIC SECTOR BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTRE OF LAHORE: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Abstract

Background and Objective: Plateletpheresis is a process by which platelets are extracted from the donor. Donor selection is critical since donors are the sole supply of blood available to satisfy demand. The goal of this study is to investigate the causes behind plateletpheresis donor deferral in order to ensure safe blood donation. Materials and Methods: The research was carried out at the department of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine University of Child Health Sciences, The Children Hospital Lahore. 50 plateletpheresis donors who voluntarily came for donation were considered for the procedure as per guidelines and departmental standard operating procedure. The details of the procedure of plateletpheresis were explained to each donor. Donor questionnaire was filled including brief history, general physical examination, Haematological parameters such as haemoglobin and the donor blood screening was done to be considered fit for procedure. The reasons for deferral of donors were noted after all work up was done. Informed consent was taken before the procedure. Plateletpheresis was done using COM.TEC Cell Separator instrument. Results: In this study 50 donors were included. Out of 50 donors 34 were approved for procedure and 16 were deferred due to different temporary and permanent reasons. The age of the donors were in between 18 to 50 years. Major reason for temporary deferral was poor venous access (n=7, 14%) followed by the low haemoglobin value (n=4, 8%). Other reasons for temporary deferral were history of medication (n=3, 6%), low platelet count (n=4,8%), history of blood transfusion (n=1, 2%), history of vaccination n=2, 4%), leucocytosis (n=1, 2%), underweight (n=4, 8%), fever (n=1, 2%), refusal after questionnaire (n=1, 2%), seropositive for malaria and VDRL (n=3, 6%), high blood pressure (n=1, 2%), and anxiety (n=1, 2%). Permanent reasons for deferral were seropositive for HbsAg (n=2, 4%), seropositive for HCV (n=4, 8%) and tattoo (n=1, 2%). Conclusion: This study found a pattern of donor deferral in single donor platelet apheresis that was our experience in single centre. In conclusion during the selection of donors, Transfusion services should be very careful related to donor safety measures and these causes of deferral should be kept in mind.

Abstract

Objective: To compare the effects of active release technique and post isometric relaxation on pain intensity, hip internal rotation and functional disability in patients with piriformis syndrome. Methodology: A randomized clinical trial extending from September 2020 to January 2021 was conducted at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad. Thirty patients were included in the study using purposive sampling and were randomized through sealed envelope method. All patients were evaluated using visual analogue scale, goniometer and lower extremity functional scale. A self-structured questionnaire was designed for data collection. Two sessions per week were given for three consecutive weeks and a follow up after one month. Data was taken at baseline, after three weeks and after one month follow up. Data was analyzed using SPSS-20. Results: 30 patients were treated with mean age of 41.30±4.99. 17 females and 13 males were treated. Group A (active release technique) and Group B (post isometric relaxation) showed significant improvement within groups (P0.05). Background: Stair climbing is an effective, easy to approach and inexpensive moderate to high intensity exercise with great effects in improving functional status of individuals.High intensity interval training (HIIT) protocol is also a short time exercise with greater long term effects in improving cardiopulmonary endurance. Aim: To examine the effects of stair climbing on cardiopulmonary endurance in gym users in addition to High intensity interval training (HIIT) protocol and to measure the effects of stair climbing on blood lactate in gym users. Methods: 32 healthy individuals including males and females have been divided into two groups all the participants were gym users from past three months .Control group followed HITT protocol only and experimental group performed stair climbing in addition to HIIT protocol. Time duration of the training was 8 weeks .Individuals were assessed before and after the training for VO2max, and blood lactate. Body Mass Index, Rate of Perceived Exertion, and O2cost, modified Canadian Aerobic Fitness Test (mCAFT) stages Blood Pressure, Heart Rate has also been assessed before and after training. Results: Results has shown the significant increase in VO2 max (p value 0.001) and lower levels of blood lactate (≤0.001) within the groups after training. There was no significant improvement in VO2max and blood lactate formation on comparison between the groups. Conclusion: Current study concluded that there was significant increase in VO2 max and blood lactate with stair climbing in addition to HIIT protocol in gym users within the groups but there is no significance between the groups. It means both the protocols been followed are significant with almost equal affects and both are equally beneficial. 37. Prevalence of Hepatitis C in Dialysis Patients in Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar

Abstract

Introduction: The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a Flaviviridae-related virus that causes a systemic illness that can be transmitted. HCV is a blood-borne infection that primarily affects the liver. HCV diagnosis that is accurate and timely is critical in significantly reducing the risk of morbidity and mortality. The goal of this study was to find out the Hepatitis C in chronic renal failure patients who are on hemodialysis. Method: This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in the Dialysis Unit of the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) Peshawar's Department of Nephrology. From September to December 2017, this study took place over four months. The study included a total of 114 patients, regardless of their age or gender. Hepatitis C was detected in whole blood samples collected from 114 healthy people using an immunochromatography method. The data was analyzed using SPSS v.22. Result: The Immunochromatography technique for HCV was used to analyze 114 blood samples from recruited individuals. Male patients were 52.6% of the total, while female patients made up 47.4%. The study found that 24.56% of male patients were positive, while 28.07% of female patients were positive. Overall, the technique's sensitivity and specificity were 83.1% and 72.7%, respectively. Conclusion: It is concluded that the HCV rapid testing is still sensitive and specific for detecting hepatitis C virus, it should be used in routine clinical settings for early hepatitis C virus diagnosis when advanced diagnostic options are restricted. 39. Flow injection chemiluminescence determination of acetochlor and cartap‐HCl in freshwater samples using an acidic KMnO4–rhodamine‐B reaction system.

Abstract

A flow injection (FI) methodology using the acidic potassium permanganate (KMnO4)–rhodamine‐B (Rh‐B) reaction with chemiluminescence (CL) detection was established to determine acetochlor and cartap‐HCl pesticides in freshwater samples. Experimental parameters were optimized, and Chelex‐100 cationic exchanger mini column and solid‐phase extraction (SPE) were used as phase separation techniques. Linear calibration curves were observed for the standard solutions of acetochlor and cartap‐HCl over the ranges 0.005–2.0 mg L−1 [y = 1155.8x + 57.551, R2 = 0.9999 (n = 8)] and 0.005–1.0 mg L−1 [y = 979.76x + 14.491, R2 = 0.9998 (n = 8)] with LODs and LOQs of 7.5 × 10−4 and 8.0 × 10−4 mg L−1 (3σ blank) and 2.5 × 10−3 and 2.7 × 10−3 mg L−1 (10σ blank), respectively, with an injection throughput of 140 h−1. These methods were used to estimate acetochlor and cartap‐HCl with or without the SPE procedure, respectively, in spiked freshwater samples. Results obtained were not significantly different at a 95% confidence level to those of other reported methods. Recoveries for acetochlor and cartap‐HCl were obtained over the ranges 93–112% (RSD = 1.9–3.6%) and 98–109% (RSD = 1.7–3.8%), respectively. The most probable CL reaction mechanism was explored. Abstract

The development of cyber-assured systems is a challenging task, particularly due to the cost and complexities associated with the modern hybrid networks architectures, as well as the recent advancements in cloud computing. For this reason, the early detection of vulnerabilities and threat strategies are vital for minimising the risks for enterprise networks configured with a variety of node types, which are called hybrid networks. Existing vulnerability assessment techniques are unable to exhaustively analyse all vulnerabilities in modern dynamic IT networks, which utilise a wide range of IoT and industrial control devices (ICS). This could lead to having a less optimal risk evaluation. In this paper, we present a novel framework to analyse the mitigation strategies for a variety of nodes, including traditional IT systems and their dependability on IoT devices, as well as industrial control systems. The framework adopts avoid, reduce, and manage as its core principles in characterising mitigation strategies. Our results confirmed the effectiveness of our mitigation strategy framework, which took node types, their criticality, and the network topology into account. Our results showed that our proposed framework was highly effective at reducing the risks in dynamic and resource constraint environments, in contrast to the existing techniques in the literature.

Abstract

Wheat is one of the important food crops worldwide while wheat bread is the most commonly consumed form of it in different populations. As Nigella sativa is rich in several phytochemicals that possess disease preventive properties hence, the proximate and sensory analysis of the breads supplemented with Nigella sativa extract and oil have been discussed in this study. Nigella sativa is one of the famous medicinal plants that has been used for treatment of various illnesses in different parts of the world. Compositional analysis revealed that Nigella sativa extract supplemented bread contains 14.75% moisture content, 10.32% crude fat content, 4.40 % ash and 3.55 % crude fiber, 11.89% crude protein and 55.09% Nitrogen Free Extract (NFE). In comparison, analysis of Nigella sativa oil supplemented revealed that it contains 14.23%, moisture content, 10.53% crude fat content, 4.10% ash and 3.20 % crude fiber, 11.79% crude protein and 56.15% NFE. Sensory evaluation was evaluated using 9 points-hedonic scale. Maximum score for overall acceptability was recorded for Nigella sativa extract fortified bread. In the meantime, the requests for wheat-based items with value addition are developing quickly in the previous couple of decades, as customers understood that eating foods with medical advantages is superior to taking medicine. The breads fortified with Nigella sativa will not only meet the consumer demands in terms of sensory attributes but might also aid in improving their health. Abstract

Physics letters / B 822, 136708 (2021). doi:10.1016/j.physletb.2021.136708, In quantum scattering processes between two particles, aspects characterizing the strong and Coulomb forces can be observed in kinematic distributions of the particle pairs. The sensitivity to the interaction potential reaches a maximum at low relative momentum and vanishing distance between the two particles. Ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions at the LHC provide an abundant source of many hadron species and can be employed as a measurement method of scattering parameters that is complementary to scattering experiments. This study confirms that momentum correlations of particles produced in Pb���Pb collisions at the LHC provide an accurate measurement of kaon���proton scattering parameters at low relative momentum, allowing precise access to the $K^- p \to K^- p$ process. This work also validates the femtoscopic measurement in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions as an alternative to scattering experiments and a complementary tool to the study of exotic atoms with comparable precision. In this work, the first femtoscopic measurement of momentum correlations of $K^- p(K^- \overline{p})$ and $K^+p(K^-\overline{p})$ pairs in Pb���Pb collisions at centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=5.02 TeV registered by the ALICE experiment is reported. The components of the $K^-p$ complex scattering length are extracted and found to be $\Re f_0=-0.91 \pm 0.03 \textrm{(stat)}^{+0.17}_{-0.03} \textrm{(syst)}$ and $\Im f_0=0.92 \pm 0.05 \textrm{(stat)}_{-0.33}^{+0.12} \textrm{(syst)}$. Abstract

The prompt production of the charm baryon Λ c + and the Λ c + / D 0 production ratios were measured at midrapidity with the ALICE detector in p p and p -Pb collisions at s NN = 5.02 TeV . These new measurements show a clear decrease of the Λ c + / D 0 ratio with increasing transverse momentum ( p T ) in both collision systems in the range 2 p T 12 GeV / c , exhibiting similarities with the light-flavor baryon-to-meson ratios p / π and Λ / K S 0 . At low p T , predictions that include additional color-reconnection mechanisms beyond the leading-color approximation, assume the existence of additional higher-mass charm-baryon states, or include hadronization via coalescence can describe the data, while predictions driven by charm-quark fragmentation processes measured in e + e - and e - p collisions significantly underestimate the data. The results presented in this Letter provide significant evidence that the established assumption of universality (colliding-system independence) of parton-to-hadron fragmentation is not sufficient to describe charm-baryon production in hadronic collisions at LHC energies.

Abstract

Heterosis refers to the increase in biomass, stature, fertility, and other characters that impart superior performance to the F1 progeny over genetically diverged parents. The manifestation of heterosis brought an economic revolution to the agricultural production and seed sector in the last few decades. Initially, the idea was exploited in cross-pollinated plants, but eventually acquired serious attention in self-pollinated crops as well. Regardless of harvesting the benefits of heterosis, a century-long discussion is continued to understand the underlying basis of this phenomenon. The massive increase in knowledge of various fields of science such as genetics, epigenetics, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics persistently provide new insights to understand the reasons for the expression of hybrid vigor. In this review, we have gathered information ranging from classical genetic studies, field experiments to various high-throughput omics and computational modelling studies in order to understand the underlying basis of heterosis. The modern-day science has worked significantly to pull off our understanding of heterosis yet leaving open questions that requires further research and experimentation. Answering these questions would possibly equip today’s plant breeders with efficient tools and accurate choices to breed crops for a sustainable future.
