To overcome the challenges of the increasing global energy and to solve the global energy & environment problems, process intensification is one way to develop new efficient production pathways for the chemical industry. Process intensification plays an important role in the gas-liquid mass transfer processes. This review provides an overview of the developments in gas-liquid mass transfer enhancement. A major enhancement method, namely introducing additives (including nanoparticles, oil, electrolyte, and surfactant) summarized and discussed here, includes the most recent accomplishments in gas-liquid mass transfer engineering. This review is expected to inspire new research for future developments and potential applications in scientific research and industry regarding gas-liquid mass transfer engineering. Finally, it presents conclusions and perspectives on enhancing gas-liquid mass transfer.

The original unstructured record data for the defect of the relay protection devices (RPDs) may contain problems influencing the data mining, and it is lack of quantitative evaluation. So the purpose of this paper is to evaluate the quality of these defective texts of relay protection devices, and it proposes a text quality evaluation method for the unstructured defect record of RPDs based on the ontology and knowledge graph for the defects text of relay protection devices, combined with the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy weighting method. In details, first, the problems existing in the unstructured defect records of RPDs are presented. Secondly, the corresponding evaluation indicators are proposed, and the quantitative calculation method for each indicator is given in combination with the knowledge graph for the defects of relay protection devices. Thirdly, combined with the subjective AHP and the objective entropy weight method, a comprehensive evaluation method for the unstructured defect record for RPDs is proposed, and its effectiveness is verified with examples. Finally, with the 10-year actual defects record data, the data quality of the unstructured defect record for the RPDs in a regional power grid is comprehensively evaluated, and characteristic of the data quality with respected to text length, defect level, and dispatch region are revealed.

Introduction: Surgical training traditionally adheres to the apprenticeship paradigm, potentially exposing trainees to an increased risk of complications stemming from their limited experience. To mitigate this risk, augmented and virtual reality have been considered, though their effectiveness is difficult to assess. Research question: The PASSION study seeks to investigate the improvement of manual dexterity following intensive training with neurosurgical simulators and to discern how surgeons' psychometric characteristics may influence their learning process and surgical performance. Material and methods: Seventy-two residents were randomized into the simulation group (SG) and control group (CG). The course spanned five days, commencing with assessment of technical skills in basic procedures within a wet-lab setting on day 1. Summary: Objective: To compare the characteristics of conventional laparoscopic pyeloplasty (LP) and robotic-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty (RALP) in infants and young children with ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). Methods: We performed a retrospective study of patients (age: 0–36 months) who underwent dismembered pyeloplasty (Anderson-Hynes) with the fourth-generation RALP or traditional LP between April 2020 and December 2020. Results: A total of 33 patients with UPJO were enrolled: 12 underwent RALP (9 left side; 3 right side) and 21 underwent LP (18 left side; 3 right side). In the RALP group, the median patient age was 17 months (range: 5–36 months). In the LP group, the median patient age was 9 months (range: 2–36 months) (P = 0.182). The mean operation times were 120.25 ± 37.54 min (RALP) and 156.10 ± 51.11 min (LP) (P = 0.042), and the mean lengths of hospital stay were 6.42 ± 1.62 days (RALP) and 8.19 ± 2.25 days (LP) (P = 0.023). Removal of the drainage tube was performed after 3.08 ± 0.69 days (RALP) and after 4.76 ± 1.81 days (LP) (P = 0.001). The postoperative pain showed no significant difference. Large-scale aquaculture pen is one of the essential modes of offshore aquaculture being explored in recent years. In contrast to cage farming, the advantages are more significant as the larger cultural space for fish swimming, the closer-to-nature environment, and the improved ecological quality of fish. As a novel offshore aquaculture structure, fully-enclosed pile-net aquaculture pens (FPAPs) are generally deployed in exposed oceans, where severe waves and currents are of great dominance. The hydrodynamic characteristics of FPAPs in offshore areas deserve further investigation. In this paper, the numerical model of a typical FPAP in waves is proposed based on the finite element method (FEM), then wave loads on and induced motion responses of the FPAP are analyzed. The results show that the maximum loads on the structure and the maximum displacement of piles are closely proportional to the wave height. Secondly, the maximum stress of nets decreases as the embedded depth increases, while the deformation of nets tends to rise with the increase of pile spacing. At last, several structural optimal patterns are given to improve the safety of pen facilities. This work has laid a solid scientific foundation for designs and optimizations of FPAPs in the future.

Abstract In this paper, a special ultrasonic microforming method, Micro Ultrasonic thin Sheetmetal Forming using molten plastic as a flexible punch (short as Micro-USF), was used to conduct micro-punching experiments on stainless steel sheet with thickness of 10 μm and 20 μm. The influence of ultrasonic vibration on forming force and forming quality were investigated. The experimental results showed that the forming force required for punching thin sheet metal decreased gradually as the ultrasonic time or ultrasonic power increased. By applying the ultrasonic vibration effect, the forming force could be decreased dramatically and the maximum value of forming force drop could reach 86%. Moreover, with the application of ultrasonic vibration, the size accuracy and shape accuracy of micro-holes could be increased by 36.92% and 22.65%, but the cross-section quality of micro-holes were not significantly improved.

The aim of the study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of hydroxysaff yellow A (HSYA) on diabetic retinopathy (DR). For this, a total of 27 rats were randomly divided into normal control, model, and HSYA groups. The body weight, blood glucose, and blood–retinal barrier damage of the rats were observed and compared. The pathological change of retinal tissue were measured using H&E staining. The apoptosis of retinal tissue ganglion cells was detected by TUNEL. The interleukin (IL)-1β and tumor necrosis fator (TNF)-α levels were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The level of malondialdehyde (MDA) was detected using thiobarbituric acid method. Superoxide dismutase levels were detected using xanthine oxidase method; Nrf2 and total HO-1 protein expressions were detected using western blot assay; Bcl-2 and P53 protein expression was measured using immunohistochemical staining. The body weight and retinal damage of the HYSA group were significantly improved (p < 0.01, respectively). The apoptosis index of the HYSA group was lower than the model group (p < 0.001). The IL-1β, TNF-α, and MDA levels of the HYSA group were significantly improved in comparison with those of the model group (p < 0.01, respectively). The Nrf-2, HO-1, Bcl-2, and P53 protein expression of HYSA group was significantly improved (p < 0.001, respectively). In conclusion, HYSA can effectively alleviate the apoptosis of retinal ganglion cells in type 2 diabetic rats and improve the progression of DR.

Most plant‒soil feedback studies have been conducted on the mechanism by which soil directly influences plant growth performance and mostly in indoor pot experiments; however, it is unclear how plant‒soil feedback is influenced by plant, soil and microbial diversity in grassland ecosystems in alpine meadows with high plant diversity. In this study, plant‒soil feedback patterns were investigated by analyzing plant, soil and microbial characteristics across seven gradients in the time series from light degradation to 10-years of recovery, classified into three categories: ecosystem multifunctionality, biotic and abiotic factors, and comparing the strength and magnitude of plant‒soil feedback in alpine meadows of degradation stages and years of recovery. The results showed that the plant-soil feedback relationships in alpine meadows differed significantly in three aspects: ecosystem multifunctionality, biotic and abiotic factors in the degradation stage and recovery years, and under the degradation gradient, ecosystem multifunctionality decreased from 0.34 to −0.99 with the deepening of degradation, biotic factors increased from −0.17 to 0.09, and abiotic factors increased from −0.17 to 0.15, while in the recovery gradient, ecosystem multifunctionality showed a trend of increasing and then decreasing with increasing recovery years, while biotic and abiotic factors showed fluctuating changes. The plant-soil feedback index indicated that the strength and direction of plant-soil interactions during degradation and recovery were different, and the positive feedback effect was 0.34 and 0.38 in the early stage of degradation and recovery, respectively, which were greater than the negative feedback effect. With the deepening of degradation, the negative feedback effect became more and more obvious, and at the stage of extreme degradation, the negative feedback effect reached −0.99, which was much larger than the positive feedback effect. However, with the increase of the recovery years, the positive feedback effect gradually weakened, and finally all of them were negative feedback effects at 10-years of recovery. This study provides a scientific basis for understanding plant-soil feedback in alpine meadow ecosystems and indicates the direction for the next scientific recovery of alpine meadows.

Liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) is one of the most common liver malignancies with high mortality and morbidity. Thus, it is crucial to identify potential biomarker that is capable of accurately predicting the prognosis and therapeutic response of LIHC. Kinesin family member 5A (KIF5A) is a microtubule-based motor protein involved in the transport of macromolecules such as organelle proteins in cells. Recent studies have illustrated that the high expression of KIF5A was related to poor prognosis of solid tumors, including bladder cancer, prostate cancer, and breast cancer. However, little is currently known concerning the clinical significance of KIF5A expression in LIHC. Herein, by adopting multi-omics bioinformatics analysis, we comprehensively uncovered the potential function and the predictive value of KIF5A in stratifying clinical features among patients with LIHC, for which a high KIF5A level predicted an unfavorable clinical outcome. Results from KIF5A-related network and enrichment analyses illustrated that KIF5A might involve in microtubule-based process, antigen processing and presentation of exogenous peptide antigen via MHC class II. Furthermore, immune infiltration and immune function analyses revealed upregulated KIF5A could predict a unique tumor microenvironment with more CD8+T cells and a higher level of anti-tumor immune response. Evidence provided by immunohistochemistry staining (IHC) further validated our findings at the protein level. Taken together, KIF5A might serve as a novel prognostic biomarker for predicting immunotherapy response and could be a potential target for anti-cancer strategies for LIHC.
