Dwarf barred galaxies are the perfect candidates for hosting slowly-rotating bars. They are common in dense environments and they have a relatively shallow potential well, making them prone to heating by interactions. When an interaction induces bar formation, the bar should rotate slowly. They reside in massive and centrally-concentrated dark matter halos, which slow down the bar rotation through dynamical friction. While predictions suggest that slow bars should be common, measurements of bar pattern speed, using the Tremaine-Weinberg method, show that bars are mostly fast in the local Universe. We present a photometric and kinematic characterisation of bars hosted by two dwarf galaxies in the Virgo Cluster, NGC 4483 and NGC 4516. We derive the bar length and strength using the Next Generation Virgo Survey imaging and the circular velocity, bar pattern speed, and rotation rate using spectroscopy from the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer. Including the previously studied galaxy IC 3167, we compare the bar properties of the three dwarf galaxies with those of their massive counterparts from literature. Bars in the dwarf galaxies are shorter and weaker, and rotate slightly slower with respect to those in massive galaxies. This could be due to a different bar formation mechanism and/or to a large dark matter fraction in the centre of dwarf galaxies. We show that it is possible to push the application of the Tremaine-Weinberg method to the galaxy low mass regime.

Analysis of the situation of the accreditation of Information and Documentation degrees in Spain. Based on the information available in the Registry of Universities, Centres and Degrees (RUCT) of the Ministry of Universities, a comparative analysis of the situation of accreditation of degrees related to the field of Information and Documentation in Spain is carried out. Based on the data obtained, an assessment is made of the general situation of accreditation in Spanish universities (with special reference to institutional accreditation of centres versus institutional accreditation of degrees); the situation of accreditation of Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees in the field of Information and Documentation; and the future prospects for institutional accreditation of these studies. The results show that few Information and Documentation studies are accredited by institutional accreditation (3 Bachelor's degrees, 5 Master's degrees and no doctoral programmes), although both the legislation and the number of existing degrees in the centres make it advisable to opt for institutional accreditation of centres to confirm the official nature of the studies., Análise da situação da acreditação dos diplomas de Informação e Documentação em Espanha. Com base na informação disponível no Registo de Universidades, Centros e Diplomas (RUCT) do Ministério das Universidades, realiza-se uma análise comparativa da situação da acreditação de diplomas relacionados com o domínio da Informação e Documentação em Espanha. Com base nos dados obtidos, é feita uma avaliação da situação geral da acreditação nas universidades espanholas (com especial referência à acreditação institucional de centros versus a acreditação institucional de diplomas); a situação da acreditação de licenciaturas, mestrados e doutoramentos no domínio da Informação e Documentação; e as perspectivas futuras para a acreditação institucional destes estudos. Os resultados mostram que poucos estudos de Informação e Documentação são acreditados por acreditação institucional (3 licenciaturas, 5 mestrados e nenhum programa de doutoramento), embora tanto a legislação como o número de licenciaturas existentes nos centros aconselhem a opção pela acreditação institucional dos centros para confirmar a natureza oficial dos estudos., Análisis de la situación de la acreditación de las titulaciones de Información y Documentación en España. A partir de la información disponible en el Registro de Universidades, Centros y Títulos (RUCT) del Ministerio de Universidades, se lleva a cabo un análisis comparativo de la situación en la que se encuentra la acreditación de las titulaciones relacionadas con el ámbito de la Información y la Documentación en España. A partir de los datos obtenidos se valora la situación general de la acreditación en las universidades españolas (con especial referencia a la acreditación institucional de centros frente a la acreditación institucional de títulos); la situación de la acreditación de las titulaciones de grado, máster y doctorado del ámbito de la Información y la Documentación; y las perspectivas futuras de la acreditación institucional de estos estudios. Los resultados permiten apreciar que son pocos los estudios de información y Documentación acreditados por la vía de la acreditación institucional (3 títulos de grado, 5 de máster y ningún programa de doctorado), aunque tanto la legislación como el número de títulos existentes en los centros, aconseja optar por la modalidad de la acreditación institucional de centros para confirmar el carácter oficial de los estudios.

Analysis of the existing electronic records management policies in the Spanish Autonomous Communities. By applying a descriptive methodology, based on the use of content analysis and comparative analysis techniques, the electronic records management policies (ERMP) of 14 Spanish Autonomous Communities were studied. The analysis focused on four aspects: 1) technical data of the ERMPs; 2) data related to the structure of the ERMP, according to the policy model developed by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations; 3) document management processes included in the ERMPs; and 4) existence of complementary technical documents (such as classification tables, metadata schemes and similar instruments). From the legal point of view, it is noted that the majority of the EDMPs have been approved by means of agreements or decrees of the highest regional institutions, although the responsibility for their elaboration lies with different types of bodies. In terms of structure, most follow the model of the Ministry of Finance, although some ERMPs, such as those of the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia and the Basque Country, differ to a greater extent. In terms of processes, most of them include the processes of the model (capture, registration, classification, description, access, classification, preservation, transfer and destruction or disposal); however, the ERMPs of Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia, Extremadura, Navarre and the Basque Country also include other document management processes. The results obtained lead to the conclusion that there is a high level of institutional support for this type of policy, which, in general terms, is very similar in terms of structure and processes to the model of the Ministry of Finance, although it is true that some Autonomous Communities also have specific technical instruments., Análise das políticas de gestão de documentos eletrônicos existentes nas Comunidades Autónomas espanholas. Através da aplicação de uma metodologia descritiva, baseada na utilização de técnicas de análise de conteúdo e de análise comparativa, foram estudadas as Políticas de Gestão de Documentos Eletrônicos (PGDE) de 14 Comunidades Autónomas espanholas. A análise centrou-se em quatro aspectos: 1) dados técnicos das PGDE; 2) dados relativos à estrutura da PGED, de acordo com o modelo de política desenvolvido pelo Ministério das Finanças e Administrações Públicas; 3) processos de gestão documental incluídos nas PGDE; e 4) existência de documentos técnicos complementares (tais como tabelas de classificação, esquemas de metadados e instrumentos similares). Do ponto de vista jurídico, verifica-se que a maioria dos PGDE foi aprovada por meio de acordos ou decretos das mais altas instituições regionais, embora a responsabilidade pela sua elaboração caiba a diferentes tipos de organismos. Em termos de estrutura, a maior parte segue o modelo do Ministério das Finanças, embora alguns PGDE, como os das Canárias, da Cantábria, da Catalunha e do País Basco, apresentem maiores diferenças. Em termos de processos, a maioria inclui os processos do modelo (captura, registo, classificação, descrição, acesso, classificação, conservação, transferência e destruição ou eliminação); no entanto, as PGDE de Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia, Extremadura, Navarra e País Vasco incluem também outros processos de gestão documental. Os resultados obtidos permitem concluir que existe um elevado nível de apoio institucional a este tipo de política que, em termos gerais, é muito semelhante, em termos de estrutura e de processos, ao modelo do Ministério das Finanças, embora seja verdade que algumas Comunidades Autónomas dispõem também de instrumentos técnicos específicos., Análisis de las políticas de gestión de documentos electrónicos existentes en las Comunidades Autónomas Españolas. Por lo que respecta a la estructura, la mayoría sigue el modelo del Ministerio de Hacienda, aunque algunas PGDE, como las de Canarias, Cantabria, Cataluña y País Vasco presentan mayores diferencias. En lo relativo a los procesos, la mayor parte recoge los procesos del modelo (captura, registro, clasificación, descripción, acceso, calificación, conservación, transferencia y destrucción o eliminación); no obstante, las PGDE de Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Comunidad Valenciana, Extremadura, Navarra y País Vasco, recogen también otros procesos de gestión documental. Los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que existe un elevado respaldo institucional a este tipo de políticas, las cuales, de forma general, presentan un gran nivel de coincidencia, en cuanto a estructura y procesos, con el modelo del Ministerio de Hacienda, si bien es cierto que algunas Comunidades Autónomas cuentan también con instrumentos técnicos específicos.

H II regions in galaxies are the sites of star formation, so they are special places for understanding the build-up of stellar mass in the universe. The line ratios of this ionized gas are frequently used to characterize the ionization conditions. In particular, the oxygen abundances are assumed to trace the chemical enrichment of galaxies. Aims. We explore the connections between the ionization conditions and the properties of the overall underlying stellar population (ionizing or not-ionizing) in H II regions, in order to uncover the actual physical connection between them. Methods. We use the H II regions catalog from the CALIFA survey, which is the largest in existence with more than 5000 H II regions, to explore their distribution across the classical [O III] lambda 5007/H beta vs. [N II] lambda 6583/H alpha diagnostic diagram, and the way it depends on the oxygen abundance, ionization parameter, electron density, and dust attenuation. The location of H II regions within this diagram is compared with predictions from photoionization models. Finally, we explore the dependence of the location within the diagnostic diagram on the properties of the host galaxies, the galactocentric distances, and the properties of the underlying stellar population. Results. The H II regions with weaker ionization strengths and more metal-rich are located in the bottom righthand area of the diagram. In contrast, those regions with stronger ionization strengths and more metal poor are located in the upper lefthand end of the diagram. Photoionization models per se do not predict these correlations between the parameters and the line ratios. The H II regions located in earlier-type galaxies, closer to the center and formed in older and more metal-rich regions of the galaxies are located in the bottom-right area of the diagram. We also thanks the referee por his/her suggestions that have improved the final version of this paper., While studies of gasphase metallicity gradients in disc galaxies are common, very little has been done towards the acquisition of stellar abundance gradients in the same regions. We present here a comparative study of the stellar metallicity and age distributions in a sample of 62 nearly face-on, spiral galaxies with and without bars, using data from the CALIFA survey. We measure the slopes of the gradients and study their relation with other properties of the galaxies. We find that the mean stellar age and metallicity gradients in the disc are shallow and negative. Furthermore, when normalized to the effective radius of the disc, the slope of the stellar population gradients does not correlate with the mass or with the morphological type of the galaxies. In contrast to this, the values of both age and metallicity at similar to 2.5 scale lengths correlate with the central velocity dispersion in a similar manner to the central values of the bulges, although bulges show, on average, older ages and higher metallicities than the discs. One of the goals of the present paper is to test the theoretical prediction that non-linear coupling between the bar and the spiral arms is an efficient mechanism for producing radial migrations across significant distances within discs. The process of radial migration should flatten the stellar metallicity gradient with time and, therefore, we would expect flatter stellar metallicity gradients in barred galaxies. However, we do not find any difference in the metallicity or age gradients between galaxies with and without bars. Context. The innermost regions of most galaxies are characterised by the presence of extremely dense nuclear star clusters. Nevertheless, these clusters are not the only stellar component present in galactic nuclei, where larger stellar structures known as nuclear stellar discs, have also been found. Understanding the relation between nuclear star clusters and nuclear stellar discs is challenging due to the large distance towards other galaxies which limits their analysis to integrated light. The Milky Way’s centre, at only ~8 kpc, hosts a nuclear star cluster and a nuclear stellar disc, constituting a unique template to understand their relation and formation scenario. Aims. We aim to study the kinematics and stellar metallicity of stars from the Milky Way’s nuclear star cluster and disc to shed light on the relation between these two Galactic centre components. Methods. We used publicly available photometric, proper motions, and spectroscopic catalogues to analyse a region of ~2.8′ × 4.9′ centred on the Milky Way’s nuclear star cluster. We built colour magnitude diagrams, and applied colour cuts to analyse the kinematic and metallicity distributions of Milky Way’s nuclear star cluster and disc stars with different extinction, along the line of sight. Results. We detect kinematic and metallicity gradients for the analysed stars along the line of sight towards the Milky Way’s nuclear star cluster, suggesting a smooth transition between the nuclear stellar disc and cluster.We also find a bi-modal metallicity distribution for all the analysed colour bins, which is compatible with previous work on the bulk population of the nuclear stellar disc and cluster. Our results suggest that these two Galactic centre components might be part of the same structure with the Milky Way’s nuclear stellar disc being the grown edge of the nuclear star cluster. © The Authors 2023

The epoch in which galactic discs settle is a major benchmark for testing models of galaxy formation and evolution but remains largely unknown. Once discs settle and become sufficiently self-gravitating, stellar bars are able to form; therefore, determining the ages of bars can shed light on the epoch of disc settling, and on the onset of secular evolution. Nevertheless, timing when the bar formed has proven challenging. In this work we present a new methodology for obtaining the bar age, using the star formation history of nuclear discs. Nuclear discs are rotation-supported structures, built by gas pushed to the centre via bar-induced torques, and their formation is thus coincident with bar formation. In particular, we used integral field spectroscopic data from the TIMER survey to disentangle the star formation history of the nuclear disc from that of the underlying main disc, which enables us to more accurately determine when the nuclear disc formed. We demonstrate the methodology on the galaxy NGC 1433 – which we find to host an old bar that is 7.5$_{−1.1}$$^{+1.6}$(sys)$_{−0.5}$$^{+0.2}$(stat) Gyr old – and describe a number of tests carried out on both the observational data and numerical simulations. In addition, we present evidence that the nuclear disc of NGC 1433 grows in accordance with an inside-out formation scenario. This methodology is applicable to high-resolution integral field spectroscopic data of barred galaxies with nuclear discs, making it ideally suited for the TIMER survey sample. In the future we will thus be able to determine the bar age for a large sample of galaxies, shedding light on the epoch of disc settling and bar formation.
