Patients in both groups were followed up 1 week after the end of the treatment.The primary outcome measure was the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) score, whereas the secondary outcome measures included Brief Pain Inventory BPI-Q3, Q4, Q5 scores, analgesic dose, frequency of opioid-induced gastrointestinal side effects, Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS), Quality of Life Scale - Liver Cancer (QOL-LC), and Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) scores.Results: The NRS scores of experimental group was significantly lower after treatment and at the follow-up than baseline (average P< 0.01), there were also statistical differences between the groups at the above time points (average P< 0.01). BPI-Q3, -Q4, and -Q5 scores in the experimental group were decreased after treatment when compared with those before treatment (average P< 0.01). Furthermore, there were significant improvements of gastrointestinal side effects, KPS, QOL-LC and BPI in the experimental group after treatment, and the above results were statistically significant compared to the control group.Conclusion: 7-day TEAS treatment can significantly enhance the analgesic effect and maintain for the following week, also reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal side effects caused by opioids, and improve the quality of life of patients with moderate-to-severe HCC-related pain, which has reliable safety and certain clinical promotion value.Keywords: hepatocellular carcinoma pain, transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation, cancer pain, randomized controlled trial

By employing the stabilizer in the supersonic gas nozzle to produce the plasma density profile with a sharp downramp, we have experimentally demonstrated highly stable electron beam acceleration based on the shock injection mechanism in laser wakefield acceleration with the use of a compact Ti:sapphire laser. A quasi-monoenergetic electron beam with a peak energy of 315 MeV ± 12.5 MeV per shot is generated. The electron pointing fluctuations are less than 1 mrad, which is a significant improvement over previous results. This is due to the precise control of the target density distribution and the relative distance between the shock and the laser focal position. The Particle-in-cell simulations demonstrate the sensitivity of electron acceleration to the target profile, while the computational fluid dynamics prove the stabilizer's effect on gas formation. Further developments of this scheme have the potential to deliver a high repetition rate gas target. The corresponding reproducibility of the accelerated electron beam paves the way for the realisation of compact laser plasma accelerators and the potential application of free electron lasers., Competing Interests: Declarations. Introduction: Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is a crucial gastrointestinal disease characterized by systemic inflammatory responses and persistent multiple organ failure. The role of bile acids (BAs) in diverse inflammatory diseases is increasingly recognized as crucial, but the underlying role of BA conjugation remains elusive., Objectives: Our study aim to investigate the potential role of conjugated bile acids in SAP and reveal the molecular mechanisms underlying its regulatory effects. We hypothesized that taurochenodeoxycholic acid (TCDCA) and glycochenodeoxycholic acid (GCDCA) could protect SAP through inhibiting the activation of NLRP3 inflammasomes via the TGR5 pathway in macrophages., Methods: To test our hypothesis, we used BA-CoA: amino acid N-acyltransferase knockout (Baat -/- ) mice and established SAP mouse models using caerulein- and sodium taurocholate- induced. We utilized a range of methods, including pathology sections, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, Western blotting, and ELISA, to identify the mechanisms of regulation., Results: BA-CoA: Amino acid N-acyltransferase knockout (Baat -/- ) mice significantly exacerbated pancreatitis by increasing pancreatic and systemic inflammatory responses and pancreatic damage in SAP mouse models. Moreover, the serum TCDCA levels in Baat -/- mice were lower than those in wild-type (WT) mice with or without SAP, and GCDCA and TCDCA showed stronger anti-inflammatory effects than chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) in vitro. TCDCA treatment alleviated SAP in a Takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5 and NOD-like receptor family, pyrin domain containing 3-dependent manner in vivo. Reinforcing our conclusions from the mouse study, clinical SAP patients exhibited decreased serum content of conjugated BAs, especially GCDCA, which was inversely correlated with the severity of systemic inflammatory responses., Conclusion: Conjugated bile acids significantly inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome activation by activating TGR5 pathway, thereby alleviating pancreatic immunopathology. EP400 encodes a core catalytic ATPase subunit of ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complexes. The gene-disease association of EP400 is undetermined. In this study, we performed trio-based whole-exome sequencing in a cohort of 402 families with epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) and identified compound heterozygous EP400 variants in six unrelated individuals. Six additional EP400 individuals were recruited via the match platform of China, including two de novo heterozygous and four compound heterozygous variants. The individual with a heterozygous de novo frameshift variant presented with NDDs, while the others exhibited epilepsy and NDDs, explained by the damaged genetic dependence quantity. EP400 presented significantly higher excesses of variants in the individuals. Clustering analysis revealed that the majority paralogs of EP400 were associated with NDDs/epilepsy and co-expressed highly with EP400. Analysis of the spatiotemporal expression indicated that EP400 is highly expressed in the developing brain and cells during differentiation, indicating its vital role in neurodevelopment; EP400 is predominantly expressed in inhibitory neurons in the early stage but in excitatory neurons in the mature stage. The development-dependent expression pattern of neuron specificity explained the favorable outcome of epilepsy. Knockdown of EP400 ortholog in Drosophila caused significantly increased susceptibility to seizures and abnormal neuronal firing. The ep400 crispant zebrafish exhibited brain developmental abnormalities, poorer adaptability, lower response to stimulation, epileptic discharges, abnormal cellular apoptosis, and increased susceptibility to seizures. Transcriptome analysis showed that ep400 deficiency caused expressional dysregulation of 84 epilepsy/NDD-associated genes, including 11 highly dose-sensitive genes. Background: The CCDC22 gene plays vital roles in regulating the NF-κB pathway, an essential pathway for neuroinflammation, neurodevelopment, and epileptogenesis. Previously, variants in CCDC22 were reported to be associated with intellectual disability. This study aimed to explore the association between CCDC22 and epilepsy., Methods: Trios-based whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed in a cohort of patients with epilepsy of unknown cause recruited from the China Epilepsy Gene 1.0 Project. Damaging effects of variants were analysed using protein modelling., Results: Hemizygous missense CCDC22 variants were identified in three unrelated cases. These variants had no hemizygous frequencies in controls. All missense variants identified in this study were predicted to be "damaging" by multiple in silico tools and to alter the hydrogen bonds with surrounding residues and/or protein stability. The three patients presented with focal epilepsy of varying severity, including one with refractory seizures and focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) and two with seizures responding to antiseizure medicine. Notably, the variant associated with the severe phenotype was located in the coiled-coil domain and predicted to alter hydrogen bonding and protein stability, whereas the two variants associated with mild epilepsy were located outside functional domains and had moderate molecular alterations. Analysis of spatiotemporal expression indicated that CCDC22 was expressed in brain subregions with three peaks in the fetal stage, infancy, and early adulthood, especially in the fetal stage, explaining the occurrence of developmental abnormities., Significance: CCDC22 variants are potentially associated with X-linked focal epilepsy and FCD. The Pacific large low-shear-velocity province (LLSVP), as revealed by cluster analysis of global tomographic models, hosts multiple internal anomalies, including a notable gap (~20° wide) between the central and eastern Pacific. The cause of the structural gap remains unconstrained. Directly above this structural gap, we identify an anomalously thick mantle transition zone east of the East Pacific Rise, the fastest-spreading ocean ridge in the world, using a dense set of SS precursors. The area of the thickened transition zone exhibits faster-than-average velocities according to recent tomographic images, suggesting perturbed postolivine phase boundaries shifting in response to lowered temperatures. We attribute this observation to episodes of Mesozoic-aged (250 to 120 million years ago) intraoceanic subduction beneath the present-day Nazca Plate. The eastern portion of the Pacific LLSVP was separated by downwelling because of this ancient oceanic slab. Our discovery provides a unique perspective on linking deep Earth structures with surface subduction.

Radiomics offers a noninvasive avenue for predicting clinicopathological factors. However, thorough investigations into a robust breast cancer outcome-predicting model and its biological significance remain limited. This study develops a robust radiomic model for prognosis prediction, and further excavates its biological foundation and transferring prediction performance. We retrospectively collected preoperative dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI data from three distinct breast cancer patient cohorts. In FUSCC cohort (n = 466), Lasso was used to select features correlated with patient prognosis and multivariate Cox regression was utilized to integrate these features and build the radiomic risk model, while multiomic analysis was conducted to investigate the model's biological implications. DUKE cohort (n = 619) and I-SPY1 cohort (n = 128) were used to test the performance of the radiomic signature in outcome prediction. A thirteen-feature radiomic signature was identified in the FUSCC cohort training set and validated in the FUSCC cohort testing set, DUKE cohort and I-SPY1 cohort for predicting relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) (RFS: p = 0.013, p = 0.024 and p = 0.035; OS: p = 0.036, p = 0.005 and p = 0.027 in the three cohorts). Multiomic analysis uncovered metabolic dysregulation underlying the radiomic signature (ATP metabolic process: NES = 1.84, p-adjust = 0.02; cholesterol biosynthesis: NES = 1.79, p-adjust = 0.01). Regarding the therapeutic implications, the radiomic signature exhibited value when combining clinical factors for predicting the pathological complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (DUKE cohort, AUC = 0.72; I-SPY1 cohort, AUC = 0.73). In conclusion, our study identified a breast cancer outcome-predicting radiomic signature in a multicenter radio-multiomic study, along with its correlations with multiomic features in prognostic risk assessment, laying the groundwork for future prospective clinical trials in personalized risk stratification and precision therapy., (© 2024. Background: Primary vaginal cancer is rare and most vaginal tumors are metastatic, often arising from adjacent gynecologic structures. Primary vaginal cancers are also more common among postmenopausal women and most of these are squamous cell carcinomas, with adenocarcinomas being relatively rare. Vaginal bleeding is the most common clinical manifestation of vaginal adenocarcinoma. About 70% of vaginal adenocarcinomas are stage I lesions at the time of diagnosis, for which radical surgery is recommended. However, more advanced vaginal cancers are not amenable to radical surgical treatment and have poor clinical outcomes. Optimal treatments modes are still being explored. Here, we report a rare case of stage IIb primary vaginal adenocarcinoma for which an individually designed vaginal applicator for after-loading radiotherapy was used to achieve good tumor control., Case Summary: A 62-year-old woman presented to our clinic after 3 months of abnormal postmenopausal vaginal bleeding. Gynecological examination, computed tomography (CT), and positron emission tomography-CT showed a large mass (about 5 cm) on the anterior vaginal wall. Colposcopy biopsy confirmed adenocarcinoma of vaginal origin. After three cycles of carboplatin plus paclitaxel chemotherapy, the lesion partially shrunk. The patient then received external irradiation of 45 gray (gy) in 25 fractions, which further reduced the vaginal lesion, followed by after-loading radiotherapy of 30 gy in 5 fractions with an individually designed vaginal applicator. Three months later, magnetic resonance imaging showed a slight thickening of the anterior vaginal wall., Conclusion: Primary vaginal adenocarcinoma is rare, and prognosis is poor in most vaginal cancers of locally advanced stages, which cannot be treated with radical surgery. Background: Lymph node ratio (LNR) was demonstrated to play a crucial role in the prognosis of many tumors. However, research concerning the prognostic value of LNR in postoperative gastric neuroendocrine neoplasm (NEN) patients was limited., Aim: To explore the prognostic value of LNR in postoperative gastric NEN patients and to combine LNR to develop prognostic models., Methods: A total of 286 patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database were divided into the training set and validation set at a ratio of 8:2. 92 patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University in China were designated as a test set. Cox regression analysis was used to explore the relationship between LNR and disease-specific survival (DSS) of gastric NEN patients. Random survival forest (RSF) algorithm and Cox proportional hazards (CoxPH) analysis were applied to develop models to predict DSS respectively, and compared with the 8 th edition American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) staging., Results: Multivariate analyses indicated that LNR was an independent prognostic factor for postoperative gastric NEN patients and a higher LNR was accompanied by a higher risk of death. The RSF model exhibited the best performance in predicting DSS, with the C-index in the test set being 0.769 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.691-0.846] outperforming the CoxPH model (0.744, 95%CI: 0.665-0.822) and the 8 th edition AJCC TNM staging (0.723, 95%CI: 0.613-0.833). The calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) demonstrated the RSF model had good calibration and clinical benefits. Furthermore, the RSF model could perform risk stratification and individual prognosis prediction effectively., Conclusion: A higher LNR indicated a lower DSS in postoperative gastric NEN patients. We report a novel and efficient method for the preparation of diarylmethyl sulfonamide derivatives through visible-light-induced sulfamoylation of para -quinone methides with sulfamoyl chlorides under mild, metal-free conditions. This protocol demonstrates excellent tolerance toward a wide range of functional groups, affording the corresponding products in moderate to high yields. Preliminary mechanism studies revealed that the excited photocatalyst rhodamine 6G* was mainly quenched by para -quinone methides and the generated diarylmethyl radical intermediates then underwent radical-radical cross-coupling with sulfamoyl radicals to yield the diarylmethyl sulfonamides.

Common cancer complications include bone cancer pain (BCP), which was not sufficiently alleviated by traditional analgesics. More safe and effective therapy was urgent needed. Metformin relieved osteoarthritis pain, but the analgesia of Metformin in BCP was not well studied. The study aimed to explore the Metformin-mediated analgesic effect and its molecular mechanisms in BCP rats. We demonstrated that Walker 256 cell transplantation into the medullary cavity of the tibia worsened mechanical allodynia in BCP rats, increased the expression of TGFβ1 in the metastatic bone tissue, and raised the expression of TGFβRI and TRPV1 in the L4-6 dorsal root ganglion (DRG) of BCP rats. While, selectively blockade of TGFβRI by SD208 could obviously elevated the paw withdraw threshold (PWT) of BCP rats, together with decreased TRPV1 expression in L4-6 DRG. Notably, continuous Metformin treatment reduced TGFβ1, TGFβRI and TRPV1 expression, and relieved mechanical allodynia of BCP rats in a long-term effect. Objective: The meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of telemedicine interventions on patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). Approach: The authors conducted a comprehensive search across eight databases. The aim was to identify randomized controlled trials examining the effectiveness of telemedicine for patients with DFU. Methodological qualities of included studies were assessed using Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Intervention . Subsequently, a meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 to synthesize the findings. Results: Ten studies involving 1,678 patients with DFU were included in the meta-analysis. In comparison to the face-to-face intervention group, telemedicine interventions significantly reduced the amputation rate (risk ratio = 0.64, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.44-0.92, p = 0.02), decreased costs (mean difference [MD] = -4158.51, 95% CI = -7304.69 to -1012.34, p = 0.01), better controlled fasting blood glucose (MD = -0.89, 95% CI = -1.43 to -0.36, p = 0.001), and achieved superior glycated hemoglobin control (MD = -0.71, 95% CI = -1.01 to -0.41, p < 0.00001). No significant differences were observed between the telemedicine group and the face-to-face group in terms of healing rate, mortality, and healing time. Innovations: Our study suggests that telemedicine is a viable strategy for managing DFU. Conclusions: The meta-analysis indicates that telemedicine interventions have a positive effect on DFU. Nevertheless, more well-designed and high-quality studies are needed to reach a conclusion with greater confidence.

Background: Integrating conventional ultrasound features with 2D shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) can potentially enhance preoperative hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) predictions., Aim: To develop a 2D-SWE-based predictive model for preoperative identification of HCC., Methods: A retrospective analysis of 884 patients who underwent liver resection and pathology evaluation from February 2021 to August 2023 was conducted at the Oriental Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital. The patients were divided into the modeling group ( n = 720) and the control group ( n = 164). The study included conventional ultrasound, 2D-SWE, and preoperative laboratory tests. Multiple logistic regression was used to identify independent predictive factors for malignant liver lesions, which were then depicted as nomograms., Results: In the modeling group analysis, maximal elasticity (Emax) of tumors and their peripheries, platelet count, cirrhosis, and blood flow were independent risk indicators for malignancies. These factors yielded an area under the curve of 0.77 (95% confidence interval: 0.73-0.81) with 84% sensitivity and 61% specificity. The model demonstrated good calibration in both the construction and validation cohorts, as shown by the calibration graph and Hosmer-Lemeshow test ( P = 0.683 and P = 0.658, respectively). Additionally, the mean elasticity (Emean) of the tumor periphery was identified as a risk factor for microvascular invasion (MVI) in malignant liver tumors ( P = 0.003). Patients receiving antiviral treatment differed significantly in platelet count ( P = 0.002), Emax of tumors ( P = 0.033), Emean of tumors ( P = 0.042), Emax at tumor periphery ( P < 0.001), and Emean at tumor periphery ( P = 0.003)., Conclusion: 2D-SWE's hardness value serves as a valuable marker for enhancing the preoperative diagnosis of malignant liver lesions, correlating significantly with MVI and antiviral treatment efficacy., Competing Interests: Conflict-of-interest statement: All the authors have no conflict of interest related to the manuscript., (©The Author(s) 2024. Here, a photocatalytic asymmetric multicomponent cascade Minisci reaction of β-carbolines with enamides and diazo compounds is reported, enabling an effective enantioselective radical C─H functionalization of β-carbolines with high yields and enantioselectivity (up to 83% yield and 95% ee). This enantioselective multicomponent Minisci protocol exhibits step economy, high chemo-/enantio-selective control, and good functional group tolerance, allowing access to a variety of valuable chiral β-carbolines. Notably, diazo compounds are suitable radical precursors in enantioselective cascade radical reactions. In this study, scalp tissues from Korean adults between 20 and 80 without skin disease were used. Scalp tissues were processed, and hair follicles were isolated and cultured with different treatments (including Bioscalp, Ultra Exo Booster, and Ultra S Line Plus) from Ultra V company. Over 12 days, observations and measurements of hair follicle characteristics were recorded at intervals (Days 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12). The study assessed the impact of these substances on hair follicle growth and morphology. Bioscalp, combined with Ultra Exo Booster and Ultra S Line Plus, showed significant hair elongation in ex vivo. Preservation of hair bulb diameter was observed, indicating potential for sustained hair growth by exosome-based products. The hair growth cycle analysis suggested a lower transition to the catagen stage in test products from Ultra V compared to non-treated groups. The research findings indicated that the tested formulations, especially the combination of Bioscalp, Ultra Exo Booster, and Ultra S Line Plus, demonstrated significant effectiveness in promoting hair growth, maintaining the integrity of the hair bulb, and reducing the transition to the catagen stage. Background: Forest musk deer (FMD, Moschus Berezovskii ) is a critically endangered species world-widely, the death of which can be caused by pulmonary disease in the farm. Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) was a huge threat to the health and survival of captive FMD. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) have been involved in the regulation of immune genes and disease development. However, the regulatory profiles of mRNAs and miRNAs involved in immune regulation of FMD are unclear., Methods: In this study, mRNA-seq and miRNA-seq in blood were performed to constructed coexpression regulatory networks between PF and healthy groups of FMD. The hub immune- and apoptosis-related genes in the PF blood of FMD were explored through Gene Ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis. Further, protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of immune-associated and apoptosis-associated key signaling pathways were constructed based on mRNA-miRNA in the PF blood of the FMD. Immune hub DEGs and immune hub DEmiRNAs were selected for experimental verification using RT-qPCR., Results: A total of 2744 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 356 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEmiRNAs) were identified in the PF blood group compared to the healthy blood group. Among them, 42 DEmiRNAs were negatively correlated with 20 immune DEGs from a total of 57 correlations. The DEGs were significantly associated with pathways related to CD molecules, immune disease, immune system, cytokine receptors, T cell receptor signaling pathway, Th1 and Th2 cell differentiation, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, intestinal immune network for IgA production, and NOD-like receptor signaling pathway. There were 240 immune-related DEGs, in which 186 immune-related DEGs were up-regulated and 54 immune-related DEGs were down-regulated. In the protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis of immune-related signaling pathway, TYK2 , TLR2 , TLR4 , IL18 , CSF1 , CXCL13 , LCK , ITGB2 , PIK3CB , HCK , CD40 , CD86 , CCL3 , CCR7 , IL2RA , TLR3 , and IL4R were identified as the hub immune genes. The thermophysical properties and elemental abundances of the noble gases in terrestrial materials can provide unique insights into the Earth's evolution and mantle dynamics. Here, we perform extensive ab initio molecular dynamics simulations to determine the melting temperature and sound velocity of neon up to 370 GPa and 7500 K to constrain its physical state and storage capacity, together with to reveal its implications for the deep interior of the Earth. It is found that solid neon can exist stably under the lower mantle and inner core conditions, and the abnormal melting of neon is not observed under the entire temperature (T) and pressure (P) region inside the Earth owing to its peculiar electronic structure, which is substantially distinct from other heavier noble gases. An inspection of the reduction for sound velocity along the Earth's geotherm evidences that neon can be used as a light element to account for the low-velocity anomaly and density deficit in the deep Earth. A comparison of the pair distribution functions and mean square displacements of MgSiO3-Ne and Fe-Ne alloys further reveals that MgSiO3 has a larger neon storage capacity than the liquid iron under the deep Earth condition, indicating that the lower mantle may be a natural deep noble gas storage reservoir. Our results provide valuable information for studying the fundamental behavior and phase transition of neon in a higher T-P regime, and further enhance our understanding for the interior structure and evolution processes inside the Earth., (© 2024 Author(s). Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering is commonly shared among multiple observers by utilizing unsharp measurements. Nevertheless, their usage is restricted to local measurements and does not encompass all nonlocal measurement-based cases. In this work, a method for finding beneficial local measurement settings has been expanded to include nonlocal measurement cases. This method is applicable for any bipartite state and offers benefits even in scenarios with a high number of measurement settings. Using the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state as an illustration, we show that employing unsharp nonlocal measurements can activate the phenomenon of steering sharing in contrast to using local measurements. Furthermore, our findings demonstrate that nonlocal measurements with unequal strength possess a greater activation capability compared to those with equal strength. A comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying microbial catabolism of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is still lacking. Here, we newly isolated a bacterial strain identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa PS1 with high efficiency of DBP degradation. The degradation ratios of DBP at 100-1000 mg/L by this strain reached 80-99 % within 72 h without a lag phase. A rare DBP-degradation pathway containing two monobutyl phthalate-catabolism steps was proposed based on intermediates identified by HPLC-TOF-MS/MS. In combination with genomic and transcriptomic analyses, we identified 66 key genes involved in DBP biodegradation and revealed the genetic basis for a new complete catabolic pathway from DBP to Succinyl-CoA or Acetyl-CoA in the genus Pseudomonas for the first time. Notably, we found that a series of homologous genes in Pht and Pca clusters were simultaneously activated under DBP exposure and some key intermediate degradation related gene clusters including Pht, Pca, Xyl, Ben, and Cat exhibited a favorable coexisting pattern, which contributed the high-efficient DBP degradation ability and strong adaptability to this strain. Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly malignant biliary tract cancer with poor prognosis. Previous studies have implicated the gut microbiota in CCA, but evidence for causal mechanisms is lacking., Aim: To investigate the causal relationship between gut microbiota and CCA risk., Methods: We performed a two-sample mendelian randomization study to evaluate potential causal associations between gut microbiota and CCA risk using genome-wide association study summary statistics for 196 gut microbial taxa and CCA. Genetic variants were used as instrumental variables. Multiple sensitivity analyses assessed result robustness., Results: Fifteen gut microbial taxa showed significant causal associations with CCA risk. Higher genetically predicted abundance of genus Eubacteriumnodatum group , genus Ruminococcustorques group , genus Coprococcus , genus Dorea , and phylum Actinobacteria were associated with reduced risk of gallbladder cancer and extrahepatic CCA. Increased intrahepatic CCA risk was associated with higher abundance of family Veillonellaceae , genus Alistipes , order Enterobacteriales , and phylum Firmicutes. Protective effects against CCA were suggested for genus Collinsella , genus Eisenbergiella , genus Anaerostipes , genus Paraprevotella , genus Parasutterella , and phylum Verrucomicrobia. Sensitivity analyses indicated these findings were reliable without pleiotropy., Conclusion: This pioneering study provides novel evidence that specific gut microbiota may play causal roles in CCA risk. Background: Injectable filler, a nonsurgical beauty method, has gained popularity in rejuvenating sagging skin. In this study, polydioxanone (PDO) was utilized as the main component of the ULTRACOL200 filler that helps stimulate collagenesis and provide skin radiant effects. The study aimed to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of ULTRACOL200 with other commercialized products in visually improving dermatological problems., Methods: Herein, 31 participants aged between 20 and 59 years were enrolled in the study. 1 mL of the testing product, as well as the quantity for the compared groups was injected into each participants face side individually. Subsequently, skin texture and sunken volume of skin were measured using ANTERA 3D CS imaging technology at three periods: before the application, 4 weeks after the initial application, and 4 weeks after the 2nd application of ULTRACOL200., Results: The final results of skin texture and wrinkle volume evaluation consistently demonstrated significant enhancement. Chiral cyclopentadienyl-rhodium(III) Cp x Rh(III) catalysis has been demonstrated to be competent for catalyzing highly enantioselective aziridination of challenging unactivated terminal alkenes and nitrene sources. The chiral Cp x Rh(III) catalysis system exhibited outstanding catalytic performance and wide functional group tolerance, yielding synthetically important and highly valuable chiral aziridines with good to excellent yields and enantioselectivities (up to 99 % yield, 93 % ee). This protocol presents a novel and effective strategy for synthesizing enantioenriched aziridines from simple alkenes. Objective: To investigate the application value of intraoperative motor nerve monitoring in cervical neurogenic tumor surgery. Methods: The efficacy of intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) was analyzed retrospectively in 18 patients, including 6 males and 12 females, aged from 15 to 74 years, treated in Affiliated Drum Tower Hospital, Medical School of Nanjing University from June 2019 to September 2022 who underwent total cystectomy of cervical neurogenic tumors under intraoperative nerve monitoring. Results: All 18 patients had complete tumor removal, including 8 patients with tumors from the vagus nerve and 10 patients with tumors from the brachial plexus nerve. Postoperative nerve functions were normal in patients with tumors from brachial plexus nerve, and incomplete vocal cord paralysis occurred in 2 patients with tumors from vagus vagus nerve. The total incidence of motor nerve injury was 11.1% (2/18). All patients were followed up for 6 to 45 months, with no tumor recurrence. Conclusion: Intraoperative neuromonitoring has significant values in surgery of cervical neurogenic tumors, which is helpful to remove completely the tumors on the basis of protecting the nerve functions to the maximum extent.

In underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC), vortex beams carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) can improve channel capacity but are vulnerable to oceanic turbulence (OT), leading to recognition errors. To mitigate this issue, we propose what we believe to be a novel method that combines the Gerchberg-Saxton (GS) algorithm-based recovery with convolutional neural network (CNN)-based recognition (GS-CNN). Our experimental results demonstrate that superposed Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams with small topological charge are ideal information carriers, and the GS-CNN remains effective even when OT strength C n 2 is high up to 10 -11 K 2 m -2/3 . Furthermore, we use 16 kinds of LG beams to transmit a 256-grayscale digital image, giving rise to an increase in recognition accuracy from 0.75 to 0.93 and a decrease in bit error ratio from 3.98×10 -2 to 6.52×10 -3 compared to using the CNN alone.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility of mimics software in analyzing a new type of complex anterior cervical fixation -- anterior transpedicular screw fixation+zero notch internal fixation., Methods: From January 2021 to September 2022, 50 normal pedestrians who underwent cervical spine CT scanning were selected for C 1 -C 7 segment scanning, including 27 males and 23 females, aged from 25 to 65 years old with an average of (46.0 ± 9.0) years old. The dicom format is exported and engraved into the CD, and use the mimics software to perform 3D reconstruction of each segment. A simulated screw is placed on the image according to the critical value of zero notch screw (head and tail angle 44°, internal angle 29°). The position of zero notch screw in each segment is observed to determine the feasibility of anterior transpedicular screw fixation plus zero notch internal fixation., Results: For the upper zero notch screws the three-dimensional images of the cervical spine across all 50 subjects within the C 3 -C 7 segments demonstrated safe position, with no instances of intersection with ATPS. For the lower zero notch screw, in C 3 -C 4 and C 4 -C 5 , 4 out of 50 subjects are in the safe position in the three-dimensional images of cervical vertebrae, and 46 cases could achieve secure screw placement when the maximum caudal angle is(32.3±1.9) ° and (36.1±2.2) °, respectively. In C 5 -C 6 and C 6 -C 7 segments, no lower zero notch screws intersected with ATPS, and all screws are in safe positions., Conclusion: Lower cervical anterior pedicle screw fixation plus zero notch internal fixation can achieve successful nail placement through the selected entry point and position.

The sharp density down-ramp injection (shock injection) mechanism produces the quasi-monoenergetic electron beam with a bunch duration of tens of femtoseconds via laser wakefield acceleration. The stability of the accelerated electron beam strongly depends on the stability of the laser beam and the shock structure produced by the supersonic gas nozzle. In this paper, we report the study of a newly designed modular supersonic nozzle with a flexible stilling chamber and a converging-diverging structure. The performance of the nozzle is studied both numerically and experimentally with the computational fluid dynamics simulation and the Mach-Zehnder interferometry method. Introduction: Limited water and soil phosphorus (P) availability often hampers lucerne productivity in semiarid regions. Plastic film mulch and P application typically enhance young lucerne (2-3 years) productivity by increasing soil water use and P availability. However, the prolonged impact of film mulch and P application on lucerne productivity as the stand ages remains unclear., Methods: This study conducted a 9-year field experiment on the semiarid Loess Plateau to investigate how film mulch and P application affect lucerne forage yield, soil water content, and soil fertility. The field experiment used a split-plot design with randomized blocks, in which the whole plots were with (M1) and without plastic film mulch (M0), and the split plots were four P rates (0 (P0), 9.7 (P1), 19.2 (P2), and 28.8 (P3) kg P ha -1 )., Results and Discussion: The M1 treatment produced significantly higher lucerne forage yields than the M0 treatment during the first five years, but the yield-increasing effect of film mulch gradually diminished over time, with no effect in Years 6-8, and lower yields than the M0 treatment in Year 9. Phosphorus fertilization significantly increased forage yield after Year 3 in the M0 treatment, but only in Years 3-5 in the M1 treatment. In Years 2-5, film mulch significantly increased soil organic carbon, total nitrogen (N), inorganic N, and microbial biomass carbon in P0, P1, and P2 but not in P3. However, in Years 7-9, film mulch significantly decreased soil available potassium (K), organic carbon mineralization, lucerne density, and shoot K concentration, but did not reduce soil N and P availability at any level P of application. Moreover, plastic film mulch significantly increased the soil water content at 0-300 cm deep from Year 7 onwards. In conclusion, film mulch ceased to enhance lucerne production beyond year 6, which could not be attributed to soil water content, N or P availability but was partially associated with reduced soil K availability. Objectives: To establish a computed tomography (CT)-based scale to evaluate the resectability of locally advanced thyroid cancer., Methods: This twin-centre retrospective study included 95 locally advanced thyroid cancer patients from the 1 st centre as the training cohort and 31 patients from the 2 nd centre as the testing cohort, who were categorised into the resectable and unresectable groups. Three radiologists scored the CT scans of each patient by evaluating the extension to the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), trachea, oesophagus, artery, vein, soft tissue, and larynx. A 14-score scale (including all comprised structures) and a 12-score scale (excluding larynx) were developed. Receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to evaluate the performance of the scales. Stratified fivefold cross-validation and external verification were used to validate the scale., Results: In the training cohort, compromised RLN (p < 0.001), trachea (p = 0.001), oesophagus (p = 0.002), artery (p < 0.001), vein (p = 0.005), and soft tissue (p < 0.001) were predictors for unresectability, while compromised larynx (p = 0.283) was not. The 12-score scale (AUC = 0.882, 95%CI: 0.812-0.952) was not inferior to the 14-score scale (AUC = 0.891, 95%CI: 0.823-0.960). In subgroup analysis, the AUCs of the 12-score scale were 0.826 for treatment-naïve patients and 0.976 for patients with prior surgery. The 12-score scale was further validated with a fivefold cross-validation analysis, with an overall accuracy of 78.9-89.4%. Finally, external validation using the testing cohort showed an AUC of 0.875., Conclusions: The researchers built a CT-based 12-score scale to evaluate the resectability of locally advanced thyroid cancer. Objective: This study aims to investigate the feasibility of the anterior transpedicular root screw (ATPRS) intervertebral fusion system for the cervical spine and provide a basis for the design of the ATPRS intervertebral fusion system., Methods: A total of 60 healthy adult cervical spine CT images examined from our hospital were selected, including 30 males and 30 females, with an average age of 39.6 ± 4.8 years. The image data was imported into Mimics 21.0 software in DICOM format for 3D model reconstruction. Simulated screw insertion was performed on both sides of the midline of the intervertebral space. The entry point (P 1 ) was determined when the upper and lower screw paths did not overlap. When the screw was tangent to the medial edge of the Luschka joint, the insertion point was determined as the entry point (P 2 ). Measurements were taken and recorded for the following parameters: distance from the screw entry point to the midline of the intervertebral space (DPM), the simulated screw length, inclination angle, cranial/caudal tilted angle, the anterior-posterior (AP) and mediolateral (ML) diameters of the cervical intervertebral space, the heights of the anterior, middle, and posterior edges of the cervical intervertebral space, and the curvature diameter of the lower end plate of the cervical vertebral body. Statistical analysis was performed on the measurement results., Results: The screw entry area (P 1 P 2 ) showed an increasing trend from C3-C7 in both male (2.92-6.08 mm) and female (2.32-5.12 mm) groups. There were statistical differences between men and women at the same level (P < 0.05). The average screw length of men and women was greater than 20 mm, and the upper and lower screw lengths showed an increasing trend from C3 to C7. In the area where screws could be inserted, the range of screw inclination was as follows: male group upper screw (47.73-66.76°), lower screw (48.05-65.35°); female group upper screw (49.15-65.66°) and lower screw (49.42-63.29°); The range of cranial/caudal tilted angle of the screw was as follows: male group upper screw (32.06-39.56°), lower screw (29.12-36.95°); female group upper screw (30.97-38.92°) and lower screw (27.29-37.20°). The anterior-posterior diameter and mediolateral diameter of the cervical intervertebral space showed an increasing trend from C3 to C7 in both male and female groups. The middle height (MH) of the cervical intervertebral space was greater than the anterior edge height (AH) and posterior edge height (PD), with statistical differences (P < 0.05)., Conclusions: Through the study of CT images of the cervical spine, it was determined that the ATPRS intervertebral fusion system has a feasible area for screw insertion in the cervical intervertebral space., (© 2023. Long-term abuse of methamphetamine (MA) can cause lung toxicity. Intercellular communication between macrophages and alveolar epithelial cells (AECs) is critical for maintaining lung homeostasis. Microvesicles (MVs) are an important medium of intercellular communication. However, the mechanism of macrophage MVs (MMVs) in MA-induced chronic lung injury remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate if MA can augment the activity of MMVs and if circ&#95;YTHDF2 is a key factor in MMV-mediated macrophage-AEC communication, and to explore the mechanism of MMV-derived circ&#95;YTHDF2 in MA-induced chronic lung injury. MA elevated peak velocity of the pulmonary artery and pulmonary artery accelerate time, reduced the number of alveolar sacs, thickened the alveolar septum, and accelerated the release of MMVs and the uptake of MMVs by AECs. Circ&#95;YTHDF2 was downregulated in lung and MMVs induced by MA. The immune factors in MMVs were increased by si-circ&#95;YTHDF. Circ&#95;YTHDF2 knockdown in MMVs induced inflammation and remodelling in the internalised AECs by MMVs, which was reversed by circ&#95;YTHDF2 overexpression in MMVs. Circ&#95;YTHDF2 bound specifically to and sponged miRNA-145-5p. Runt-related transcription factor 3 (RUNX3) was identified as potential target of miR-145-5p. RUNX3 targeted zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1)-related inflammation and EMT of AECs. In vivo, circ&#95;YTHDF2 overexpression-MMVs attenuated MA-induced lung inflammation and remodelling by the circ&#95;YTHDF2-miRNA-145-5p-RUNX3 axis. Therefore, MA abuse can induce pulmonary dysfunction and alveolus injury. The immunoactivity of MMVs is regulated by circ&#95;YTHDF2. Circ&#95;YTHDF2 in MMVs is the key to communication between macrophages and AECs. Circ&#95;YTHDF2 sponges miR-145-5p targeting RUNX3 to participate in ZEB1-related inflammation and remodelling of AECs. Intratumor heterogeneity (ITH) profoundly affects therapeutic responses and clinical outcomes. However, the widespread methods for assessing ITH based on genomic sequencing or pathological slides, which rely on limited tissue samples, may lead to inaccuracies due to potential sampling biases. Using a newly established multicenter breast cancer radio-multiomic dataset ( n = 1474) encompassing radiomic features extracted from dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance images, we formulated a noninvasive radiomics methodology to effectively investigate ITH. Imaging ITH (IITH) was associated with genomic and pathological ITH, predicting poor prognosis independently in breast cancer. Through multiomic analysis, we identified activated oncogenic pathways and metabolic dysregulation in high-IITH tumors. Integrated metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses highlighted ferroptosis as a vulnerability and potential therapeutic target of high-IITH tumors. Collectively, this work emphasizes the superiority of radiomics in capturing ITH. Furthermore, we provide insights into the biological basis of IITH and propose therapeutic targets for breast cancers with elevated IITH.

The measurement and evaluation of carbon budget of marine industry is the basis for promoting green and efficient development of marine economy under the goal of carbon neutrality. We constructed a carbon accounting system for the marine industry in Jiangsu Province, and assessed carbon efficiency and neutrality. The results showed that from 2016 to 2020, the total amount of marine carbon sinks in Jiangsu Province were 894.8 to 2773.2 thousand tons, while carbon emissions of major marine industries were 3538.4 to 4350.6 thousand tons. The net emissions of marine industries ranged from 1478.7 to 2906.1 thousand tons. Both of carbon sinks and emissions were significantly increased in this period. In terms of carbon sinks, the offshore wind power accounted for the largest contribution, followed by ecosystem carbon sequestration, and mariculture carbon sequestration was the smallest. In terms of carbon emissions, the marine transportation industry played a dominant role, followed by coastal tourism and marine fisheries, while the marine engineering and construction industry and marine shipping industry accounted for a small proportion. In general, the carbon neutral status showed that marine industry in Jiangsu Province was in carbon deficit from 2016-2020, but the net emissions were decreasing year by year. The net carbon sink efficiency of mariculture in Jiangsu Province was lower than the national level, and carbon efficiency of offshore wind power was stable.

In this study, environmentally friendly, low cost, and easy to synthesize In Sn and V Sn co-doped SnSe materials was designed and prepared via vacuum melting and spark plasma sintering technology, which avoids the shortcomings of high-performance Pb, Ge, and Na-doped SnSe samples. In Sn and V Sn , doping achieved appropriate bandgap ( E g ) and energy band degeneracy ( N V ) from the valence and conduction band, obtaining the highest electrical conductivity of 4726 S m -1 at 773 K. The impurity state controls the carrier transport process below 573 K, while E g and N V control the process above 573 K. In Sn and V Sn doping induces quality fluctuation and local strain, which decreases the lattice thermal conductivity. Owing to the higher power factor and low lattice thermal conductivity, the ZT value of the Sn 0.985 In 0.01 Se sample was 1.3 at 773 K. Background: Bone cancer pain (BCP) remains a clinical challenge due to the limited and side effects of therapeutic methods. Folic acid has been known as an FDA approved dietary supplement and proved to have an analgesic effect in neuropathic pain. Here we investigate the role and mechanism of folic acid in bone cancer pain of a rat model., Methods: Walker 256 tumor cells were inoculated into the left tibia of rats to induce bone cancer pain model. Pain reflex were assessed by paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) response to Von Frey filaments and paw withdrawal latency (PWL) response to thermal stimulation. Folic acid was injected intraperitoneally to evaluate its analgesic effect in rats with bone cancer pain. Western blotting and qPCR were used to determine P2X2/3 receptor protein and mRNA levels in ipsilateral L4-6 dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and spinal dorsal horn (SDH)., Results: The PWT and PWL of rats with bone cancer pain were obviously decreased compared to the naïve and sham rats. Interestingly, continuous folic acid treatment significantly increased the PWT and PWL of rats with bone cancer pain. P2X2 and P2X3 receptors were clearly upregulated at both mRNA and protein expression in L4-6 DRG and SDH of rats with bone cancer pain. P2X2 and P2X3 receptors were mainly localized with CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide) or IB4 (isolectin B4) positive neurons in L4-6 DRG of rats with bone cancer pain. Notably, continuous folic acid treatment significantly reduced the expression of P2X2 and P2X3 receptors in L4-6 DRG and SDH of rats with bone cancer pain. Finally, intrathecal injection of A317491 (a selective antagonist of P2X2/3 receptors) markedly elevated the PWT and PWL of rats with bone cancer pain., Conclusion: These results suggest that folic acid has an effective antinociceptive effect on bone cancer pain, which is mediated by downregulating P2X2/3 receptors in L4-6 DRG and SDH of rats with bone cancer pain. Background: Liver transplantation (LT) is the best treatment for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the surgical technique needs to be improved. The present study aimed to evaluate the "no-touch" technique in LT., Methods: From January 2018 to December 2019, we performed a prospective randomized controlled trial on HCC patients who underwent LT. The patients were randomized into two groups: a no-touch technique LT group (NT group, n = 38) and a conventional LT technique group (CT group, n = 46). Operative outcomes and survival in the two groups were analyzed., Results: The perioperative parameters were comparable between the two groups (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in disease-free survival (DFS) (P = 0.732) or overall survival (OS) (P = 0.891). Of 36 patients who were beyond the Hangzhou criteria for LT, the DFS of the patients in the NT group was significantly longer than that in the CT group (median 402 vs. 126 days, P = 0.025). In 31 patients who had portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT), DFS and OS in the NT group were significantly better than those in the CT group (median DFS 420 vs. 167 days, P = 0.022; 2-year OS rate 93.8% vs. 66.7%, P = 0.043). In 14 patients who had diffuse-type HCCs, DFS and OS were significantly better in the NT group than those in the CT group (median DFS 141 vs. 56 days, P = 0.008; 2-year OS rate 75.0% vs. 33.3%, P = 0.034). Multivariate analysis showed that for patients with PVTT and diffuse-type HCCs, the no-touch technique was an independent favorable factor for OS (PVTT: HR = 0.018, 95% CI: 0.001-0.408, P = 0.012; diffuse-type HCCs: HR = 0.034, 95% CI: 0.002-0.634, P = 0.024)., Conclusions: The no-touch technique improved the survival of patients with advanced HCC compared with the conventional technique. Background/aim: This research investigated the biophysical properties, safety, and efficacy of polydioxanone (PDO) filler compared to poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), polycaprolactone (PCL), and hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. In both mouse and human skin models, a novel collagen stimulation was compared with hyaluronic acid filler., Materials and Methods: An electron microscope was used to capture images of the solid particle microsphere shape. Moreover, animal models named SKH1-Hrhr were used to assess the 12-week persistence of PDO, PLLA, or PCL filler. H&E and Sirus Red staining were used to compare collagen density. Five participants in the clinical trial received three injections in the dermis over an eight-month period. Skin density, wrinkles, and gloss were evaluated using DUB ® skin scanner, Antera 3D CS, Mark-Vu, and Skin gloss meter after injection to assess the efficacy of fillers., Results: PDO microspheres had uneven surfaces and were spherical and consistent in size. In comparison to other fillers, the PDO filler demonstrated complete biodegradability in just 12 weeks and better neocollagenesis, and a lower inflammatory response than the HA filler. After three injections, the human body assay showed a significant improvement in skin gloss, wrinkles, and density., Conclusion: In comparison to PCL and PLLA, PDO filler demonstrated a comparable volume increase rate and better biodegradability. Furthermore, although its physical characteristics are similar to those of a solid, PDO has the advantage of being more organically spread. Noise-adding methods have been widely used to manipulate the direction of quantum steering, but all related experimental schemes only worked under the assumption that Gaussian measurements were performed and ideal target states were accurately prepared. Here, we prove, and then experimentally observe, that a class of two-qubit states can be flexibly changed among two-way steerable, one-way steerable and no-way steerable, by adding either phase damping noise or depolarization noise. The steering direction is determined by measuring steering radius and critical radius, each of which represents a necessary and sufficient steering criterion valid for general projective measurements and actually prepared states. Our work provides a more efficient and rigorous way to manipulate the direction of quantum steering, and can also be employed to manipulate other types of quantum correlations.

Li-rich Mn-based layered oxides (LLOs) are one of the most promising cathode materials, which have exceptional anionic redox activity and a capacity that surpasses 250 mA h/g. However, the change from a layered structure to a spinel structure and unstable anionic redox are accompanied by voltage attenuation, poor rate performance, and problematic capacity. The technique of stabilizing the crystal structure and reducing the surface oxygen activity is proposed in this paper. A coating layer and highly concentrated oxygen vacancies are developed on the material's surface, according to scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In situ EIS shows that structural transformation and oxygen release are inhibited during the first charge and discharge. Optimized 3@LRMA has an average attenuation voltage of 0.55 mV per cycle (vs 1.7 mV) and a capacity retention rate of 93.4% after 200 cycles (vs 52.8%). Postmortem analysis indicates that the successful doping of Al ions into the crystal structure effectively inhibits the structural alteration of the cycling process. The addition of oxygen vacancies reduces the surface lattice's redox activity. Additionally, surface structure deterioration is successfully halted by N- and Cl-doped carbon coating. This finding highlights the significance of lowering the surface lattice oxygen activity and preventing structural alteration, and it offers a workable solution to increase the LLO stability.

For integral stereo imaging systems based on lens arrays, the cross-mixing of erroneous light rays between adjacent lenses seriously affects the quality of the reconstructed light field. In this paper, we proposed a light field reconstruction method based on the human eye viewing mechanism, which incorporates simplified human eye imaging into the integral imaging system. First, the light field model for specified viewpoint is established, and the distribution of the light source for each viewpoint is accurately calculated for the EIA generation algorithm of fixed viewpoint. Second, according to the ray tracing algorithm in this paper, non-overlapping EIA based on the human eye viewing mechanism is designed to suppress the amount of crosstalk rays fundamentally. The actual viewing clarity is improved with the same reconstructed resolution. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The SSIM value is higher than 0.93, which verifies that the viewing angle range is increased to 62°.

Multipartite quantum steering, a unique resource for asymmetric quantum network information tasks, is very fragile to the inevitable decoherence, which makes it useless for practical purposes. It is thus of importance to understand how it decays in the presence of noise channels. We study the dynamic behaviors of genuine tripartite steering, reduced bipartite steering, and collective steering of a generalized three-qubit W state when only one qubit interacts independently with the amplitude damping channel (ADC), phase damping channel (PDC) or depolarizing channel (DC). Our results provide the region of decoherence strength and state parameters that each type of steering can survive. The results show that these steering correlations decay the slowest in PDC and some non-maximally entangled states more robust than the maximally entangled ones. Unlike entanglement and Bell nonlocality, the thresholds of decoherence strength that reduced bipartite steering and collective steering can survive depend on the steering direction. In addition, we find that not only one party can be steered by a group system, but also two parties can be steered by a single system. There is a trade-off between the monogamy relation involving one steered party and two steered parties. Our work provides comprehensive information about the effect of decoherence on multipartite quantum steering, which will help to realize quantum information processing tasks in the presence of noise environments., (© 2023. Currently colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent cancer worldwide. Body mass index (BMI) is frequently used in CRC screening and risk assessment to quantitatively evaluate weight. However, the impact of BMI on clinical strategies for CRC has received little attention. Within the framework of the predictive, preventive, and personalized medicine (3PM/PPPM), we hypothesized that BMI stratification would affect the primary, secondary, and tertiary care options for CRC and we conducted a critical evidence-based review. BMI dynamically influences CRC outcomes, which helps avoiding adverse treatment effects. The outcome of surgical and radiation treatment is adversely affected by overweight (BMI ≥ 30) or underweight (BMI < 20). A number of interventions, such as enhanced recovery after surgery and robotic surgery, can be applied to CRC at all levels of BMI. BMI-controlling modalities such as exercise, diet control, nutritional therapy, and medications may be potentially beneficial for patients with CRC. Patients with overweight are advised to lose weight through diet, medication, and physical activity while patients suffering of underweight require more focus on nutrition. BMI assists patients with CRC in better managing their weight, which decreases the incidence of adverse prognostic events during treatment. BMI is accessible, noninvasive, and highly predictive of clinical outcomes in CRC. Importance: Both tuina therapy and yijinjing exercise were beneficial to patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain, but the evidence for this combination is limited., Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of tuina therapy combined with yijinjing exercise compared with tuina therapy alone for patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain., Design, Setting, and Participants: A 12-week, open-label, analyst-blinded randomized clinical trial (8-week intervention plus 4-week observational follow-up) was conducted from September 7, 2020, to October 25, 2021. A total of 102 participants with nonspecific chronic neck pain were recruited, and data were analyzed from December 10, 2021, to March 26, 2022., Interventions: Participants in the tuina group or tuina combined with yijinjing group received 3 sessions of tuina therapy per week for 8 weeks, for a total of 24 sessions. Participants in the tuina combined with yijinjing group practiced yijinjing 3 times a week for 8 weeks, including an instructor-guided exercise at the hospital and 2 self-practice exercises at home., Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was change in visual analog scale (VAS) score from baseline to week 8. Secondary outcomes included Neck Disability Index scores, Self-rating Anxiety Scale scores, tissue hardness, and active range of motion., Results: This randomized clinical trial recruited 102 patients (mean [SD] age, 36.5 [4.9] years; 69 [67.6%] female) who were randomized to 2 groups. All 102 patients (100%) completed all the outcome measurements. The mean difference in VAS scores from baseline at week 8 for the tuina combined with yijinjing group was -5.4 (95% CI, -5.8 to -5.1). At week 8, the difference in VAS score was -1.2 (95% CI, -1.6 to -0.8; P < .001) between the tuina group and the tuina combined with yijinjing group. The effectiveness of tuina combined with yijinjing in treating nonspecific chronic neck pain remained at the 12-week follow-up., Conclusions and Relevance: In this randomized clinical trial, for patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain, tuina combined with yijinjing was more effective than tuina therapy alone in terms of pain, functional recovery, and anxiety at week 8, and effectiveness remained at week 12. Nonlocal quantum correlations, such as quantum entanglement, quantum steering, and Bell nonlocality, are crucial resources for quantum information tasks. How to protect these quantum resources from decoherence is one of the most urgent problems to be solved. Here, we investigate the evolution of these correlations in the correlated squeezed generalized amplitude damping (SGAD) channel and propose a scheme to protect them with weak measurement (WM) and quantum measurement reversal (QMR). Compared with the results of the uncorrelated SGAD channel, we find that when [Formula: see text], correlation and squeezing effects can prolong the survival time of quantum entanglement, Bell nonlocality, and quantum steering by about 152 times, 207 times, and 10 times, respectively. In addition, local WM and QMR can effectively recover the disappeared nonlocal quantum correlations either in uncorrelated or completely correlated SGAD channels. Moreover, we find that these initial nonlocal quantum correlations could be drastically amplified under the correlated channel. And the steering direction can be flexibly manipulated either by changing the channel parameters or the strength of WM and QMR. These results not only make a step forward in suppressing decoherence and enhancing quantum correlation in noise channels, but also help to develop relevant practical applications., (© 2022. A highly efficient enantioselective direct C-H functionalization of β-carbolines via a Minisci-type radical process under a photo-redox and chiral phosphoric acid cooperative catalytic system has been disclosed. Through this protocol, a wide range of C1 aminoalkylated β-carbolines were constructed directly with high levels of enantioselectivities from readily available β-carbolines and alanine-derived redox-active esters. Background: Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have become a promising biomarker for assessing tumor immune microenvironment and predicting immunotherapy response. However, the assessment of TILs relies on invasive pathological slides., Methods: We retrospectively extracted radiomics features from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to develop a radiomic cohort of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) (n = 139), among which 116 patients underwent transcriptomic sequencing. This radiomic cohort was randomly divided into the training cohort (n = 98) and validation cohort (n = 41) to develop radiomic signatures to predict the level of TILs through a non-invasive method. Pathologically evaluated TILs in the H&E sections were set as the gold standard. Elastic net and logistic regression were utilized to perform radiomics feature selection and model training, respectively. Transcriptomics was utilized to infer the detailed composition of the tumor microenvironment and to validate the radiomic signatures., Results: We selected three radiomics features to develop a TILs-predicting radiomics model, which performed well in the validation cohort (AUC 0.790, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.638-0.943). Further investigation with transcriptomics verified that tumors with high TILs predicted by radiomics (Rad-TILs) presented activated immune-related pathways, such as antigen processing and presentation, and immune checkpoints pathways. In addition, a hot immune microenvironment, including upregulated T cell infiltration gene signatures, cytokines, costimulators and major histocompatibility complexes (MHCs), as well as more CD8 + T cells, follicular helper T cells and memory B cells, was found in high Rad-TILs tumors., Conclusions: Our study demonstrated the feasibility of radiomics model in predicting TILs status and provided a method to make the features interpretable, which will pave the way toward precision medicine for TNBC., (© 2022. Background: Homologous recombination (HR) is a key pathway in DNA double-strand damage repair. HR deficiency (HRD) occurs more commonly in triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs) than in other breast cancer subtypes. Several clinical trials have demonstrated the value of HRD in stratifying breast cancer patients into distinct groups based on their responses to poly(ADP ribose) polymerase inhibitors and chemotherapy., Methods: We retrospectively collected TNBC samples to establish a multiomics cohort (n = 343) and explored the biological and phenotypic mechanisms underlying the better prognosis of patients with high HRD scores. Gene set enrichment analysis was conducted to elucidate the underlying pathways in patients with low HRD scores, and a radiomics model was established to predict the HRD score via a noninvasive method., Results: Multivariable Cox analysis revealed the independent prognostic value of a low HRD score (hazard ratio 2.20, 95% confidence interval 1.05-4.59; p = 0.04). Furthermore, amino acid and lipid metabolism pathways were highly enriched in tumors from patients with low HRD scores, which was also demonstrated by differential abundant metabolite analysis. A noninvasive radiomics method was developed to predict the HRD status and it performed well in the independent validation cohort (support vector machine model: area under the curve [AUC] 0.739, sensitivity 0.571, and specificity 0.824; logistic regression model: AUC 0.695, sensitivity 0.571, and specificity 0.882)., Conclusions: We revealed the prognostic value of the HRD score, predicted the HRD status with noninvasive radiomics features, and preliminarily explored druggable targets for TNBC patients with low HRD scores., (© 2022. Background: The clinical management and prognosis differ between benign and malignant solid focal liver lesions (FLLs), as well as among different pathological types of malignant FLLs. Accurate diagnosis of the possible types of solid FLLs is important. Our previous study confirmed the value of shear wave elastography (SWE) using maximal elasticity (Emax) as the parameter in the differential diagnosis between benign and malignant FLLs. However, the value of SWE in the differential diagnosis among different pathological types of malignant FLLs has not been proved., Aim: To explore the value of two-dimensional SWE (2D-SWE) using Emax in the differential diagnosis of FLLs, especially among different pathological types of malignant FLLs., Methods: All the patients enrolled in this study were diagnosed as benign, malignant or undetermined FLLs by conventional ultrasound. Emax of FLLs and the periphery of FLLs was measured using 2D-SWE and compared between benign and malignant FLLs or among different pathological types of malignant FLLs., Results: The study included 32 benign FLLs in 31 patients and 100 malignant FLLs in 96 patients, including 16 cholangiocellular carcinomas (CCCs), 72 hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) and 12 liver metastases. Thirty-five FLLs were diagnosed as undetermined by conventional ultrasound. There were significant differences between Emax of malignant (2.21 ± 0.57 m/s) and benign (1.59 ± 0.37 m/s) FLLs ( P = 0.000), and between Emax of the periphery of malignant (1.52 ± 0.39 m/s) and benign (1.36 ± 0.44 m/s) FLLs ( P = 0.040). Emax of liver metastases (2.73 ± 0.99 m/s) was significantly higher than that of CCCs (2.14 ± 0.34 m/s) and HCCs (2.14 ± 0.46 m/s) ( P = 0.002). The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 71.00%, 84.38% and 74.24% respectively, using Emax > 1.905 m/s (AUC 0.843) to diagnose as malignant and 23 of 35 (65.74%) FLLs with undetermined diagnosis by conventional ultrasound were diagnosed correctly., Conclusion: Malignant FLLs were stiffer than benign ones and liver metastases were stiffer than primary liver carcinomas. 2D-SWE with Emax was a useful complement to conventional ultrasound for the differential diagnosis of FLLs., Competing Interests: Conflict-of-interest statement: All the authors report no relevant conflicts of interest for this article., (©The Author(s) 2022. Background: Myricetin (Myr) is a flavonoid compound that exist widely in many natural plants. Myr has been proven to have multiple biological functions, including immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects., Purpose: In this study, we investigated the therapeutic effect of Myr on calcipotriol (MC903) induced atopic dermatitis (AD) mouse model and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α/interferon (IFN)-γ stimulated human immortal keratinocyte line (HaCaT) in vivo and in vitro., Methods: MC903 was applied topically to the left ears of mice to establish AD mouse model. After the AD model established successfully, the cream base, dexamethasone (DEX) cream or Myr cream were applied on the lesions of mice for 8 days. Through measuring ear thickness and scoring dermatitis severity, we evaluated the therapeutic effect of Myr, the draining lymph nodes (DLNs) and ears of the mice were collected for mechanistic study. In addition, TNF-α and IFN-γ-activated HaCaT cells were used to investigate the underlying mechanism., Results: Our data demonstrated that Myr alleviated the symptoms of AD by exerting anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic functions in vivo. We found that Myr treatment suppressed ear swelling and IgE level in the serum, reduced the infiltration of mast cells in skin lesions, decreased expressions of thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC), IL-4, IFN-γ and thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) in ear lesions, increased the expressions of filaggrin (FLG). Furthermore, our experimental results demonstrated that Myr down-regulated the mRNA expressions of T-bet and GATA-3 in DLNs. In vitro, Myr treatment decreased MDC and TARC expressions in IFN-γ and TNF-α-induced HaCaT cells by blocking the NF-κB and STAT1 signal pathway., Conclusion: The present study is the first to investigate the anti-atopic effects of Myr.
