In view of the uniqueness of the occurrence conditions of coal resources in Xinjiang and the fragility of the ecological environment in the coal occurrence area, it is urgent to develop coal resources in Xinjiang scientifically. Therefore, in this paper, the geological occurrence conditions, hydrogeological conditions, physical geography and ecological environment conditions of coal resources in Xinjiang were briefly discussed, and the exploitation potential of coal resources was analyzed. The results show that the coal resources in Xinjiang are extremely abundant, with an estimated coal resource of 2.19 trillion tonnes in the entire region, accounting for more than 40% of the total estimated coal resources in China. There are 24 coal fields in Xinjiang with estimated resource levels exceeding 10 billion tonnes, of which 5 have estimated resource levels exceeding 100 billion tonnes, 8 have estimated resource levels between 40 billion−100 billion tonnes, and 11 have estimated resource levels between 10 billion−40 billion tonnes. Among the potential coal resources, shallow resources below 1000 meters account for 52.8%. The main coal rank of Xinjiang’s coal resources is low-rank bituminous coal and medium-rank bituminous coal, fol-lowed by high-rank bituminous coal in middling coal rank coal, while lignite in low-rank coal, ultra-high rank bituminous coal in middling coal rank coal and anthracite in high-rank coal have extremely limited distribution range and quantity, accounting for a very low proportion of the total resources. Taking into account the transportation of coal from Xinjiang, the transmission of electricity from Xinjiang, the transmission of natural gas from the west to the east, and the local coal chemical industry plan, it is expected that Xinjiang’s coal production capacity will exceed 800 million tonnes by 2035. On this basis, an ecological environment carrying capacity evaluation index system was constructed, and the ecological environment carrying capacity of the five major coal mining areas planned and constructed in Xinjiang was evaluated. The results show that the overall ecological environment carrying capacity of the coal resource areas in Xinjiang is at a medium to low level, and the average ecological environment carrying capacity of the five major coal mining areas is ranked as Yili (0.42)>Kubai (0.38)>Hefeng (0.31)>Zhundong (0.25)>Tuha (0.22). It shows a decreasing trend from west to east. In response to the conditions and potential of coal resource development in Xinjiang, strategies have been proposed to optimize the layout of coal resource development, promote mining technology upgrading, promote intelligent mining technology, strengthen the concept of green mining, and expand diversified channels for coal utilization.

Abstract Water splitting is a critical process for the production of green hydrogen, contributing to the advancement of a circular economy. However, the application of water splitting devices on a large scale is primarily impeded by the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the anode. Thus, developing and designing efficient OER catalysts is a significant target. NiFe‐based catalysts are extensively researched as excellent OER electrocatalysts due to their affordability, abundant reserves, and intrinsic activities. However, they still suffer from long‐term stability challenges. To date, few systematic strategies for improving OER durability have been reported. In this review, various advanced NiFe‐based catalysts are introduced. Moreover, the OER stability challenges of NiFe‐based electrocatalysts in alkaline media, including iron segregation, structural degradation, and peeling from the substrate are summarized. More importantly, strategies to enhance OER stability are highlighted and opportunities are discussed to facilitate future stability studies for alkaline water electrolysis. This review presents a design strategy for NiFe‐based electrocatalysts and anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzers to overcome stability challenges in OER, which also emphasizes the importance of long‐term stability in alkaline media and its significance for achieving large‐scale commercialization.

Abstract Half Heusler materials exhibit excellent thermoelectric and mechanical properties, rendering them potential candidates for advanced thermoelectric devices. Currently, the developments on interrelated devices are impeded by their inherent brittleness and limited ductility. Nevertheless, it exists the potential ductility on half Heusler materials with face-centered cubic sub-lattices through the expectation of the occurrence of shear-induced ‘catching bonds’ which can result in excellent ductility on other face-centered cubic materials. This work focuses on half Heusler thermoelectric materials XFeSb (X = Nb, Ta) and SnNiY (Y = Ti, Zr, Hf), the shear deformation failure processes are deeply investigated through the first principle calculations. Shear-induced ‘catching bonds’ are found on XFeSb (X = Nb, Ta) along the (111)/ slip system, which releases the internal stress and exactly resulting in the potential ductility. According to the thermodynamic criterion based on generalized stacking fault energy, the essence of shear-induced ‘catching bonds’ are interpreted as the (111)/ slips formed by several 1/3(111)/ partial dislocations motions. During the (111)/ shear on SnNiY (Y = Ti, Zr, Hf), the structural integrity is maintained without inducing ‘catching bonds’. Different deformation processes occurring in the identical crystal structure are elucidated through the energy explanation, revealing that shear-induced ‘catching bonds’ originate from the crystal plane cleavage on the (111) plane. The present works offer significant advantages for the assessment and comprehension of shear-induced ‘catching bonds’ in other materials and facilitate the development of XFeSb (X = Nb, Ta)-based thermoelectric devices with excellent ductility.

Abstract Clustered group nail connectors are key connecting components for the full lifecycle construction and safe operation of steel–concrete composite structural bridges. To thoroughly investigate the stress mechanism of clustered group nail connectors in steel–concrete composite structures, this paper conducts a detailed numerical analysis on 100 sets of such connectors. It analyzes the stress mechanism of individual nail connectors and quantitatively calculates the group nail effect under the coupled action of multiple factors (nail spacing between layers, number of nail layers, concrete strength). Based on clarifying the force transmission patterns of nails and concrete in different layers during the loading process, this paper proposes a method for calculating the average bearing capacity reduction coefficient and the load-slip curve of single nails in clustered group nail connectors under the coupled action of multiple factors, which has been validated by experimental data. This research provides a theoretical basis for the design and calculation of group nail connectors in steel–concrete composite structural bridges.

Abstract Background Gastric cancer (GC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer‐related death worldwide. Minichromsome maintenance proteins family member 8 (MCM8) assists DNA repair and DNA replication. MCM8 exerts tumor promotor function in multiple digestive system tumors. MCM8 is also considered as a potential cancer therapeutic target. Methods Bioinformatics methods were used to analyze MCM8 expression and clinicopathological significance. MCM8 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining and qRT‐PCR. MCM8 functions in GC cell were explored by Celigo cell counting, colony formation, wound‐healing, transwell, and annexin V‐APC staining assays. The target of MCM8 was determined by human gene expression profile microarray. Human phospho‐kinase array kit evaluated changes in key proteins after ribosomal protein S15A (RPS15A) knockdown. MCM8 functions were reassessed in xenograft mouse model. IHC detected related proteins expression in mouse tumor sections. The gas-sensing application potential of the TO8C monolayer for the target gases (NO, NO2, CO, CO2, NH3, CH4, H2O, and H2) was systematically investigated via DFT calculations. Only NO and NO2 adsorption can tune the electronic properties of the TO8C monolayer. Since the weak adsorption strength of NO and NO2 is unfavorable for the sensor device, E-field modulation was applied. Except as the enhancement of adsorption strength into desired ranges for NO and NO2, E-field modulation of −0.14 ∼ −0.21 V/Å for NO (0.08 ∼ 0.12 V/Å and −0.26 ∼ −0.29 V/Å for NO2) makes semiconducting transfer into conducting properties, indicating the sensitivity of the monolayer towards NO and NO2 gases was also effectively improved. However, the electronic properties of TO8C monolayer adsorbed with the other gases were hardly changed by the above-mentioned E-fields. When the applied E-fields were in −0.12 ∼ −0.17 V/Å (or −0.26 ∼ −0.29 V/Å), the conducting properties for NO (or NO2) adsorption were maintained in the existence of humidity, indicating that the determinate E-field is much favorable for the TO8C-based sensor to detect NO and NO2 gases without considering whether the humidity exists. Our findings reveal that the TO8C monolayers are compelling and feasible candidates for NO and NO2 resistance-type sensors at room temperature under the E-field modulation.

Background: Cyclin B2 (CCNB2) is associated with cell cycle progression, acting as a cell cycle checkpoint in progression of G2/M transition. In many cancer patients, it has been observed that overexpression of CCNB2 enhances tumor invasiveness and leads to adverse prognosis. However, the association of CCNB2 with the tumor microenvironment remains unclear. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the associations of CCNB2 with the immune status and prognosis of breast carcinoma (BRCA). Methods: Gene expression and clinical data for BRCA were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus databases, followed by association analyses of CCNB2 expression with prognosis, immune cell infiltration, and immune checkpoints. This study further performed drug sensitivity analysis and constructed a prognostic nomogram for CCNB2. Results: 3619 differentially expressed genes were identified in BRCA, including CCNB2 that emerged as a key gene in the network. High CCNB2 expression correlated with poor prognosis. Functional analysis demonstrated enrichment of CCNB2 co-expressed genes with the cell cycle, cancer progression, cell energy, and immune pathways. Microsatellite instability and tumor mutation burden analyses indicated CCNB2 as a candidate immunotherapy target. Tumor-infiltrating myeloid-derived suppressor cells, regulatory T cells, and T helper 2 cells were associated with CCNB2-related tumor progression and metastasis. CCNB2 expression positively correlated with immune checkpoints, indicating that high CCNB2 expression might facilitate tumor immune escape. Tumors with high CCNB2 expression showed sensitivity to phosphoinositide 3-kinase-protein kinase B-mammalian target of rapamycin and cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) 4/6 inhibitors, and the nomogram had good prognostic predictive ability for patients with BRCA. Conclusions: CCNB2 may play a crucial role in tumorigenesis and serve as an independent prognostic biomarker associated with tumor microenvironment, tumor immune infiltration and immunotherapy in BRCA.

FAM83B, as one of the FAM83 family members, has been closely involved in cell transformation, and a growing number of scholars have been studied its role in tumours over the years. Whereas the effect and potential mechanism of FAM83B in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) have not been investigated. In this research, we discovered that the expression quantity of FAM83B was remarkably higher in LSCC tissues (79.65 ± 35.98) than in matched adjacent tissues (59.34 ± 32.59) by tissue microarrays and immunohistochemistry. Furthermore, expression of FAM83B was knocked down in HEP-2 and TU177 cell lines via lentivirus, and in the course of intracorporal and extracorporeal experiments, FAM83B knockdown showed the inhibition of tumour growth, migration, and invasion ability. Moreover, cell cycle assay showed that FAM83B knockdown leads to an apparent accumulation of cells in the G1 phase, indicating that FAM83B knockdown can inhibit cell proliferation. Meanwhile, western blotting (WB) demonstrated that FAM83B knockdown led to a significant reduction in CDK4/CDK6/CCND1 protein expression, which may have decelerated cell cycle progression. Collectively, this study demonstrates that FAM83B serves as an oncogene in LSCC, promoting cell proliferation by controlling the protein expression of CDK4, CDK6, and CCND1, thus inducing a transference of the G1 stage to S stage in cell-cycle of LSCC cells. These results provide an academic foundation for elucidating the mechanism of LSCC occurrence and evolution and for developing treatment strategies for LSCC.

The response capacities of urban flood forecasting and risk control can be improved by strengthening the computational abilities of urban flood numerical models. In this work, a GPU-based hydrodynamic model is developed to simulate urban rainstorm inundations. By simulating rainstorm floods in a certain area of Xixian New City, the established model can implement high-resolution urban rainstorm inundation simulations with significantly accelerated computing performances. The accelerated computation efficiencies of the different rainstorm event simulations under resolutions of 5 and 2 m are quantitatively analysed, showing that the absolute and relative speedup ratios for all scenarios of applying two GPUs range from 10.8 to 12.6 and 1.32 to 1.68 times as much as those of a CPU and a single GPU, respectively. The application of a large-scale rainstorm inundation simulation shows the excellent acceleration performance of the model compared to previous research. In addition, the greater the number of computational grids included in the simulation, the more significant the effect on the acceleration computing performance. The proposed model efficiently predicts the spatial variation in the inundation water depth. The simulation results provide guidance for urban rainstorm inundation management, and they improve the time and efficiency of urban flood emergency decision-making. In this study, a support vector machine (SVM) and three optimization algorithms are used to develop a discharge coefficient (Cd) prediction model for the semi-circular side weir (SCSW). After that, we derived the input and output parameters of the model by dimensionless analysis as the ratio of the flow depth at the weir crest point upstream to the diameter (h1/D), the ratio of main channel width to diameter (B/D), the ratio of side weir height to diameter (P/D), upstream of side weir Froude number (Fr), and Cd. The sensitivity coefficients for dimensionless parameters to Cd were calculated based on Sobol's method. The research shows that SVM and Genetic Algorithm (GA-SVM) have high prediction accuracy and generalization ability; the average error and maximum error were 0.08 and 2.47%, respectively, which were about 95.72 and 60.86% lower compared with the traditional empirical model. The first-order sensitivity coefficients S1 and global sensitivity coefficients Si of h1/D, B/D, P/D, and Fr were 0.35, 0.07, 0.13, and 0.02; 0.63, 0.25, 0.30, and 0.32, respectively. h1/D has a significant effect on Cd. In particular, when h1/D < 0.24 and 0.48 < Fr < 0.58, 0.67 < Fr < 0.72, the discharge capacity of the SCSW is relatively large. Abstract Background Several publications suggest that UTP11 may be a promising gene engaged for involvement of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) pathology. However, there are extremely limited biological, mechanistic and clinical studies of UTP11 in HCC. Methods To anayze the UTP11 mRNA expression in HCC and normal clinical samples and further investigate the correlation between UTP11 expression and pathology and clinical prognosis via the Cancer Tissue Gene Atlas (TCGA) database. The protein levels of UTP11 were checked using the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) database. GO-KEGG enrichment was performed from Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE) database and TCGA dataset. The levels of UTP11 were tested with qRT-PCR and western blotting assays. Cell viability, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry assays and animal models were used to explore the potential involvement of UTP11 in regulating HCC growth in vitro and in vivo. The correlation of UTP11 and tumor stemness scores and stemness-associated proteins from TCGA database. The mRNA stability was treated with Actinomycin D, followed by testing the mRNA expression using qRT-PCR assay. Results UTP11 was highly expressed in HCC samples compared to normal tissues from TCGA database. Similarly, UTP11 protein expression levels were obviously elevated in HCC tissue samples from HPA database. Furthermore, UTP11 levels were correlated with poor prognosis in HCC patient samples in TCGA dataset. In addition, the UTP11 mRNA levels was notably enhanced in different HCC cell lines than in normal liver cells and knocking down UTP11 was obviously reduced the viability and cell death of HCC cells. UTP11 knockdown suppressed the tumor growth of HCC in vivo experiment and extended the mice survival time. GO-KEEG analysis from CCLE and TCGA database suggested that UTP11 might involve in RNA splicing and the stability of mRNA. Further, UTP11 was positively correlated with tumor stemness scores and stemness-associated proteins from TCGA database. Knockdown of UTP11 was reduced the expression of stem cell-related genes and regulated the mRNA stability of Oct4. Conclusions UTP11 is potentially a diagnostic molecule and a therapeutic candidate for treatment of HCC.

Abstract Insomnia refers to a subjective experience where insufficient sleep duration and quality affect daytime social functioning. This study aims to screen bioactive components with medicinal food homologous (MFH), such as quercetin, beta‐sitosterol, kaempferol, stigmasterol, and capsaicin, which can treat insomnia and demonstrate that quercetin acts as a direct inhibitor of insomnia‐related glucosylceramidase and as an insulin receptor tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor in the upstream insulin signaling pathway, affecting insomnia targets in the downstream pathway for the treatment of insomnia, using network pharmacology and cell experiment approaches. The results showed that 703 components in 44 MFH were enriched in 139 metabolic pathways and acted on 210 potential targets of insomnia. The protein–protein interaction network is analyzed by cytoNCA, according to the topological analysis results, quercetin, beta‐sitosterol, kaempferol, stigmasterol, and capsaicin of betweenness ranked in the top 10. Quercetin and glucosylceramidase were shown to directly inhibit insomnia proteins through reverse molecular docking. Quercetin was used to culture and stimulate HepG2 cells to detect tyrosine phosphorylation of key cellular proteins in the insulin signaling pathway, concluding that quercetin inhibits the activity of tyrosine phosphatase in a dose‐dependent manner, activating the insulin signaling pathway, triggering a cascade reaction, and affecting the expression of insomnia targets in the downstream pathway. The molecular docking of tyrosine phosphatase and quercetin revealed that quercetin interacted with it near the catalytic site, thereby inhibiting its interaction with the substrate. Overall, this study facilitates the development of medicinal food homologous, which exerts good pharmacological effects in the treatment of insomnia.

Abstract Age-associated hypercoagulability is accompanied by the increase of plasma levels of some coagulation factors including fibrinogen which may contribute to the increased risk of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and thrombotic diseases in elderly people. However, the underlying mechanism of increased plasma fibrinogen concentration during aging is still elusive. GRSF1 belongs to the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins F/H (hnRNP F/H) subfamily. Here, we report that GRSF1 attenuates hypercoagulability via negative modulation of fibrinogen expression. We demonstrated that GRSF1 negatively regulated fibrinogen expression at both mRNA and protein levels. GRSF1 directly interacted with the coding region (CDS) of FGA, FGB, and FGG mRNAs, and decreased their stability thus mitigating fibrinogen expression. We further identified that only a few G-tracts within the Fib C domain of FGA, FGB, and FGG CDS and the qRRM2 domain of GRSF1 were required for their interaction. Moreover, we confirmed hypercoagulability and the decrease of GRSF1 expression level during mice aging. Functionally, GRSF1 overexpression in old mice liver decreased fibrinogen plasma level, reduced hypercoagulability, and mitigated blood coagulation activity, whereas GRSF1 knockdown in young mice liver increased fibrinogen plasma level and promoted blood coagulation activity. Collectively, our findings unveil a novel posttranscriptional regulation of fibrinogen by GRSF1 and uncover a critical role of GRSF1 in regulating blood coagulation activity.

Abstract Objective To present a study to identify the characteristics of coexisting early gastric cancer (EGC) and benign submucosal lesions, with the aim of reducing the adverse consequences of overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Methods In this retrospective study, we searched the endoscopic databases of three tertiary centers. We screened of patients suspected of early gastric cancer submucosal infiltration by conventional endoscopy and ultimately selected for endoscopic submucosal dissection treatment after endoscopic ultrasonography and magnifying endoscopy with narrow-band imaging examination. Patients with coexisting EGC and benign submucosal lesions in histological sections were included. Clinical data and endoscopic images were reviewed. To evaluate the precision of endoscopists’ diagnoses for this type of lesion, eight endoscopists with different experiences were recruited to judge the infiltration depth of these lesions and analyze the accuracy rate. Results We screened 520 patients and retrospectively identified 18 EGC patients with an invasive cancer-like morphology. The most common lesion site was the cardia (12/18, 66.67%). The coexisting submucosal lesions could be divided into solid (5/18, 27.78%) and cystic (13/18, 72.22%). The most common type of submucosal lesion was gastritis cystica profunda (12/18, 66.67%), whereas leiomyoma was the predominant submucosal solid lesion (3/18, 16.67%). Ten (55.56%) patients

Abstract Knoxia roxburghii is a well-known medicinal plant that is widely distributed in southern China and Southeast Asia. Its dried roots, known as hongdaji in traditional Chinese medicine, are used to treat a range of diseases, including cancers, carbuncles, and ascites. In this study, we report a de novo chromosome-level genome sequence for this diploid plant, which has a length of approximately 446.30 Mb with a contig N50 size of 42.26 Mb and scaffold N50 size of 44.38 Mb. Approximately 99.78% of the assembled sequences were anchored to 10 pseudochromosomes and 3 gapless assembled chromosomes were included in this assembly. A total of 24,507 genes were annotated, along with 68.92% of repetitive elements. Overall, our results will facilitate further active component biosynthesis for K. roxburghii and provide insights for future functional genomic studies and DNA-informed breeding.

Developing new therapeutic agents for cancer immunotherapy is highly demanding due to the low response ratio of PD-1/PD-L1 blockade in cancer patients. Here, we discovered that the novel immune checkpoint VISTA is highly expressed on a variety of tumor-infiltrating immune cells, especially myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and CD8+ T cells. Then, peptide C1 with binding affinity to VISTA was developed by phage displayed bio-panning technique, and its mutant peptide VS3 was obtained by molecular docking based mutation. Peptide VS3 could bind VISTA with high affinity and block its interaction with ligand PSGL-1 under acidic condition, and elicit anti-tumor activity in vivo. The peptide DVS3-Pal was further designed by d-amino acid substitution and fatty acid modification, which exhibited strong proteolytic stability and significant anti-tumor activity through enhancing CD8+ T cell function and decreasing MDSCs infiltration. This is the first study to develop peptides to block VISTA/PSGL-1 interaction, which could act as promising candidates for cancer immunotherapy.

Background and aim:Vancomycin, a glycopeptide antimicrobial drug. PPK has problems such as difficulty in accurately reflecting inter-individual differences, and the PPK model may not be accurate enough to predict individual pharmacokinetic parameters. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate whether the application of machine learning combined with the PPK method can improve the prediction of vancomycin CL in adult Chinese patients.Methods:In the first step, a vancomycin CL prediction model for Chinese adult patients is given by PPK and Hamilton Monte Carlo sampling is used to obtain the reference CL of 1,000 patients; the second step is to obtain the final prediction model by machine learning using an appropriate model for the predictive factor and the reference CL; and the third step is to randomly select, in the simulated data, a total of 250 patients for prediction effect evaluation.Results:XGBoost model is selected as final machine learning model. More than four-fifths of the subjects’ predictive values regarding vancomycin CL are improved by machine learning combined with PPK. Machine learning combined with PPK models is more stable in performance than the PPK method alone for predicting models.Conclusion:The first combination of PPK and machine learning for predictive modeling of vancomycin clearance in adult patients. It provides a reference for clinical pharmacists or clinicians to optimize the initial dosage given to ensure the effectiveness and safety of drug therapy for each patient.

With the advancement of tumour-targeted therapy technology, the survival of cancer patients has continued to increase, and cardiovascular events have gradually become an important cause of death in cancer patients. This phenomenon occurs due to adverse cardiovascular reactions caused by the cardiovascular toxicity of antitumour therapy. Moreover, the increase in the proportion of elderly patients with cancer and cardiovascular diseases is due to the extension of life expectancy. Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular side effect of small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). The increase in blood pressure induced by TKIs and subsequent cardiovascular complications and events affect the survival and quality of life of patients and partly offset the benefits of antitumour therapy. Many studies have confirmed that in the pathogenesis of hypertension, arterioles and capillary thinness are involved in its occurrence and development. Our previous findings showing that apatinib causes microcirculation rarefaction of the superior mesenteric artery and impaired microvascular growth may inspire new therapeutic strategies for treating hypertension. Thus, by restoring microvascular development and branching patterns, total peripheral resistance and blood pressure are reduced. Therefore, exploring the key molecular targets of TKIs that inhibit the expression of angiogenic factors and elucidating the specific molecular mechanism involved are key scientific avenues for effectively promoting endothelial cell angiogenesis and achieving accurate repair of microcirculation injury in hypertension patients.

Background: Osteosarcoma (OS), the commonest primary malignant bone tumor, is mainly seen in children and teenagers. LINC00960, a newly discovered long intergenic non-protein coding RNA, has been shown to be important in certain cancers. The objective of this study was to assess LINC00960's prognostic and therapeutic value and analyze its mechanism of action in osteosarcoma. Methods: With the transcriptome information of 85 osteosarcomas from the TARGET database, the Cox regression analyses, K-M curve, and ROC curve, were conducted for survival and prognostic analysis. The functional analysis was conducted using GO, KEGG, GSEA, and GSVA. The ESTIMATE, ssGSEA, MCP-counter, ImmuCellAI algorithms, and immune checkpoint correlation analysis were performed for immune-related analysis. The single-cell RNA sequencing data of 6 osteosarcoma patients was obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. The Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion algorithm and the “pRRophetic” R package were performed to predict the response to immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Results: LINC00960 overexpression is associated with osteosarcoma metastasis and poor prognosis. Based on the LINC00960 expression, the nomogram prediction model was created, which showed good accuracy and precision to predict the overall survival of osteosarcoma. Single-cell and immune-related analysis showed that LINC00960 is mainly highly expressed in the tumor-exhausted CD8 T cells in osteosarcoma. In osteosarcoma, the expression of LIC00960 was favorably connected with immune checkpoint-related genes and negatively correlated with immune infiltration. TIDE analysis indicated that low LINC00960 expression patients might have a better response to immunotherapy. Drug sensitivity analysis showed that high LINC00960 expression patients might have better responses to Bleomycin and Doxorubicin. Conclusion: LINC00960 has the potential to be a novel biomarker for predicting overall survival in osteosarcoma patients and to guide more individualized treatment and clinical decision-making.

To study the influencing factors on the quality of cultivated varieties of Radix Aconitum Vilmoriniani, a toxic medicinal material for traumatology in Yunnan Province, the chloroplast genomes of samples from 10 different cultivation bases were sequenced by Illumina HiSeq 4000 high-throughput sequencing platform. Then the sequencing data were assembled and annotated followed by analysis of the characteristics of the chloroplast genomes by bioinformatics tools and construction of the phylogenetic trees. The results were as follows: (1) The full length of chloroplast genome of the 10 cultivated varieties from different regions were 155 744-155 937 bp, the large single copy region (LSC) and small single copy region (SSC) were 86 363-86 548 bp and 16 921-17 007 bp, respectively, the size of the inverted repeat region (IR) was 26 170-26 236 bp. The GC content of chloroplast genome of 10 cultivated varieties was 38.1%, with obvious AT preference, and 131 genes were annotated, including 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes and 8 rRNA genes. (2) These sequences identified 60-73 SSR sites, and genome comparative analysis found that the length of chloroplast genome of 10 cultivated varieties ranged from 155 744 to 155 937 bp with moderate expansion. Some variation hot spots were found, such as trnK-UUU-trnQ-UUG, trnY-GUA-trnE-UUC, trnC-GCA-trnT-GGU, ycf4-cemA, ycf1 and ndhF, etc. (3) Phylogenetic analysis based on the two datasets showed that JS-1-4, QJ-1-2, LX-1-3, LJ-3-2 were closely related to Aconitum vilmorinianum and LQ-1-3, GJ-1-3, NL-1-3, DC-2-2 were closely related to A. austroyunnanense. In the phylogenetic tree, which was constructed based on the complete chloroplast genomes, LJ-4-3 was closely related to A. delavayi and LJ-1-2 was closely related to A. duclouxii; while in the phylogenetic tree which was constructed based on the protein coding gene sequences (PCGs), LJ-4-3 was closely related to A. episcopale and LJ-1-2 was closely related to A. contortum. In summary, the hybrid origins of cultivation of Radix Aconitum Vilmoriniani include at least the two original plants: A. vilmorinianum and A. austroyunnanense, and other species of Aconitum even existed in individual cultivation bases. The mixed origins of cultivation may be one of the influencing factors on instability of the quality of Radix Aconitum Vilmoriniani.

Rhododendron capitatum and R. przewalskii are ornamental flowers and medicinal plants. The chloroplast genomes of R. capitatum and R. przewalskii have been sequenced using Illumina HiSeq 4000 platform to explore the genetic structure and evolution features. After assembly and annotation, comparative genomic analysis and phylogenetic analysis of the chloroplast genomes of R. capitatum and R. przewalskii were analyzed and compared with those of other Rhododendron species. The results were as follows: (1) The chloroplast genomes of R. capitatum and R. przewalskii exhibited a typical quadripartite structure, including a large single copy region (105 990, 109 191 bp), a small single copy region (2 617, 2 606 bp), and a pair of inverted repeat regions (45 825, 47 516 bp). And the two Rhododendron species chloroplast genomes were 200 257 bp and 206 829 bp in length, respectively. (2) In addition, the 263 SSRs were detected in the chloroplast genomes of R. capitatum and R. przewalskii, most of which had A/T base preference; the codons preferred ending in A/U. (3) The chloroplast genomes of Rhododendron species exhibit structural variation such as gene loss and genomic rearrangement. The study enriches the genomic resources of Rhododendron species and provides the theoretical reference for resource exploitation, genetic evolution, breeding, and phylogeny of R. capitatum and R. przewalskii.

Abstract Interlayer decoupling plays an essential role in realizing unprecedented properties in atomically thin materials, but it remains relatively unexplored in the bulk. It is unclear how to realize a large crystal that behaves as its monolayer counterpart by artificial manipulation. Here, we construct a superlattice consisting of alternating layers of NbSe2 and highly porous hydroxide, as a proof of principle for realizing interlayer decoupling in bulk materials. In (NaOH)0.5NbSe2, the electric decoupling is manifested by an ideal 1D insulating state along the interlayer direction. Vibration decoupling is demonstrated through the absence of interlayer models in the Raman spectrum, dominant local modes in heat capacity, low interlayer coupling energy and out-of-plane thermal conductivity (0.28 W/mK at RT) that are reduced to a few percent of NbSe2’s. Consequently, a drastic enhancement of CDW transition temperature (>110 K) and Pauling-breaking 2D superconductivity is observed, suggesting that the bulk crystal behaves similarly to an exfoliated NbSe2 monolayer. Our findings provide a route to achieve intrinsic 2D properties on a large-scale without exfoliation.

Hawthorns are important medicinal and edible plants with a long history of health protection in China. Besides cultivated hawthorn, other wild hawthorns may also have excellent medicinal and edible value, such as Crataegus chungtienensis, an endemic species distributed in the Southwest of China. In this study, by integrating the flavor-related metabolome and transcriptome data of the ripening fruit of C. chungtienensis, we have developed an understanding of the formation of hawthorn fruit quality. The results show that a total of 849 metabolites were detected in the young and mature fruit of C. chungtienensis, of which flavonoids were the most detected metabolites. Among the differentially accumulated metabolites, stachyose, maltotetraose and cis-aconitic acid were significantly increased during fruit ripening, and these may be important metabolites affecting fruit flavor change. Moreover, several flavonoids and terpenoids were reduced after fruit ripening compared with young fruit. Therefore, using the unripe fruit of C. chungtienensis may allow us to obtain more medicinal active ingredients such as flavonoids and terpenoids. Furthermore, we screened out some differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to fruit quality formation, which had important relationships with differentially accumulated sugars, acids, flavonoids and terpenoids. Our study provides new insights into flavor formation in wild hawthorn during fruit development and ripening, and at the same time this study lays the foundation for the improvement of hawthorn fruit flavor.

Abstract The low-temperature thermoelectric performance of Bi-rich n-type Mg3(Bi,Sb)2 was limited by the electron transport scattering at grain boundaries, while removing grain boundaries and bulk crystal growth of Mg-based Zintl phases are challenging due to the volatilities of elemental reactants and their severe corrosions to crucibles at elevated temperatures. Herein, for the first time, we reported a facile growth of coarse-grained Mg3Bi2-x Sb x crystals with an average grain size of ~800 μm, leading to a high carrier mobility of 210 cm2 · V−1 · s−1 and a high z of 2.9 × 10−3 K−1 at 300 K. A $$\Delta$$ Δ T of 68 K at T h of 300 K, and a power generation efficiency of 5.8% below 450 K have been demonstrated for Mg3Bi1.5Sb0.5- and Mg3Bi1.25Sb0.75-based thermoelectric modules, respectively, which represent the cutting-edge advances in the near-room temperature thermoelectrics. In addition, the developed grain growth approach can be potentially extended to broad Zintl phases and other Mg-based alloys and compounds.

The reliability of GIS (gas-insulated switchgear) circuit breakers significantly depends on the condition of the insulated pull rods, with micro-defects on their surface posing a potential risk for micro-discharges and breakdown incidents. Experimentally investigating these micro-discharges is challenging due to their minute nature. This study introduces a framework to examine the linkage between micro-defects and micro-discharges, coupled with numerical simulations of the micro-discharge process in insulated pull rods afflicted by surface infiltration flaws under operational conditions. Initially, samples containing micro-defects were sectioned via water jet cutting for microstructural analysis through white light interferometry. Subsequently, a two-dimensional axisymmetric model simulating positive corona discharge from a needle to a plate electrode was employed to derive the relationship between charged particle density and the electric field in SF6 and air. Building on these observations, a micro-discharge model specific to micro-defects was developed. Comparative analysis of micro-discharge behaviors in SF6 and air for identical defect types was conducted. This research framework elucidates the discharge dynamics of charged particles in SF6 and air during micro-discharge events, shedding light on the mechanisms underpinning micro-discharges triggered by insulation rod defects.

For flood discharge structures with high water heads, aeration facilities are usually installed in engineering to promote water flow aeration and prevent cavitation damage to the overflow surface. Actual engineering has shown that as the slope of the discharge channel bottom decreases or water level changes lead to a decrease in the Froude number, the cavity morphology after conventional aeration facilities or allotype aerators is poor. This article proposes a curved aeration facility scheme based on the idea of locally increasing the bottom slope to reduce the impact angle, which is formed by the convex parabolic bottom plate and concave parabolic bottom plate. The convex parabolic bottom plate is tangent to a flat bottom plate behind the offset, and the concave parabolic bottom plate is tangent to the downstream. The jet landing point is controlled at the junction of the convex parabolic bottom plate and the concave parabolic bottom plate, and the lower jet trajectory is in line with the parabolic bottom plate. The corresponding parabolic bottom plate calculation formulas were theoretically derived, and the design method of the shape parameters of the aeration facility was provided. Through specific engineering case studies, it was found that: (1) As the ZAC/ZAG value increases, point C becomes closer to point G, the slope of the water tongue landing point C becomes steeper, and the cavity is less likely to return water. (2) When the position of the water tongue landing point is 0.5–0.8 times the height of the water tongue impact point, there is almost no water accumulation in the calculated cavity. At this time, the platform length LAB = 0.5LAF, the convex parabolic section length LBC = (0.45–0.6) LAG, the concave parabolic section length LCD = (0.43–0.11) LAG, the convex parabolic section calculation formula is z (x) = −A1x2 (A1 = 0.0059–0.00564), and the concave parabolic section calculation formula is A2x2 − B2x2 (A2 = 0.003347–0.01927).This solved the problem of aeration and corrosion reduction under small bottom slope, large-unit discharge, and low Froude number engineering conditions.

To realize the large-scale utilization of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash in the field of building materials and to reduce the cost of coal mine backfill mining, the effects of the mixing ratio of cementitious materials, the particle size distribution of aggregates, and the amount and mass concentration of cementitious materials on the properties of backfill materials were experimentally investigated, and the microstructure of the hydration products was analyzed. The results showed that as the mass ratio of MSWI fly ash to bottom ash increased, the rate of expansion of the cementitious system continued to increase, and the compressive strength of the cementitious system continued to decrease. The Al (aluminum) and AlN (aluminum nitride) in the fly ash reacted with water to generate gas, causing the expansion of the cementitious materials; NaOH increased the alkalinity of the solution, which promoted the formation of more bubbles, thereby improving the expansion performance of the cementitious material. When the content of NaOH was 0.9%, the sample rate of expansion could reach 15.9%. The addition of CaCl2 promoted the early hydration reaction of the cementitious material, forming a dense microstructure, thus improving the early strength and rate of expansion of the cementitious material. The compressive strength of the backfill body increased as the fractal dimension of the aggregate particles increased, and the particle grading scheme of group S1 was optimal. The 1-day, 3-day, and 28-day strengths of the backfill body of group S1 reached 0.72 MPa, 1.43 MPa, and 3.26 MPa, respectively. It is recommended to choose a backfill paste concentration ranging between 78.5% and 80% and a reasonable amount of cementitious material between 20% and 25%. After the MSWI fly ash was prepared as a backfill material, the leaching of potentially harmful elements in the fly ash was greatly reduced, and the concentration of dioxin was reduced to 13 ng TEQ/kg. This was attributed to the dilution of the cement, the physical encapsulation of gel products, and the isomorphous replacement of Ca2+ in calcium aluminate chloride hydrate.

BackgroundIt remains unclear how antioxidant intake affects all-cause mortality in osteoarthritis (OA) patients. In this prospective cohort study, we aim to explore the association of the Composite Dietary Antioxidant Index (CDAI) with all-cause mortality and investigate the interaction of physical activity (PA) and CDAI on all-cause mortality in OA populations.MethodsA total of 3,197 adults with OA in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2001 to 2018 were included in this study. Death outcomes were obtained from National Death Index (NDI) records. Multivariable Cox regression analyses with cubic spines were applied to estimate the association of CDAI with all-cause mortality. In contrast to the traditional black box machine learning model, the white box model can achieve higher prediction accuracy and accurately evaluate and explain the prediction results. Cavity water depth and cavity length of aeration facilities are predicted in this research based on Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and a Bayesian optimization technique. The Shapley Additive Explanation (SHAP) method is then utilized to explain the prediction results. This study demonstrates how SHAP may order all features and feature interaction terms in accordance with the significance of the input features. The XGBoost–SHAP white box model can reasonably explain the prediction results of XGBoost both globally and locally and can achieve prediction accuracy comparable to the black box model. The cavity water depth and cavity length white box model developed in this study have a promising future application in the shape optimization of aeration facilities and the improvement of model experiments. HIGHLIGHTS SHAP can accurately evaluate the prediction results of XGBoost.; SHAP considers the role of both single features and interactive features.; Bayesian optimization can significantly improve XGBoost performance.; Local interpretation can visualize the impact of all features.; The cavity water depth is more complex than the cavity length.;

This is an article in the field of process mineralogy. As the raw material of high-grade quartz products，higher-purity quartz sand has strict requirements on impurity elements．Besides that，the presence of inclusions has an important impact on its purity and performance．Based on this，the fluid inclusions in the vein quartz of western Hubei Province have been studied in detail by using X-ray diffraction，plasma atomic emission spectroscopy，optical microscope，micro temperature measurement and laser Raman spectroscopy．The results show that the content of SiO2 in the ore is beyond 99.9%，and the impurity elements are mainly Al and alkali metal elements．The inclusions in the quartz are single-phase saline solution inclusions，two-phase inclusions and containing CO2 three-phase inclusions．There is no solid inclusions in the ore．The size of inclusions is mainly concentrated in 5～25 μm．The uniform temperature is 160～270 ℃ and the salinity is less than 10.00% NaCl. As a result, the ore-forming fluid belongs to medium-low temperature and low salinity fluid.According to the analysis results of the inclusion characteristics, the ore can be used as a raw material for high-purity quartz sand after deep processing and purification．

In this work, we synthesize hierarchical In2S3/NiFe-layered double hydroxide (In2S3/NiFe-LDH) nanoarrays on an F-doped SnO2 glass substrate via a two-step method, which the In2S3 electrode film was firstly prepared using chemical bath deposition on F-doped SnO2 glass substrate, and then the layered NiFe-LDH was deposited on In2S3 electrode film by hydrothermal synthesis. The two-component photoanode In2S3/NiFe-LDH exhibits significantly enhanced photoelectrochemical properties compared with the In2S3 single-component; due to that, the NiFe-LDH nanosheets depositing on the surface of In2S3 nanocrystal can reduce the accumulation of photogenic holes, facilitate the separation of photogenerated charge carriers, and enhance the light response and absorption. After being decorated with the NiFe-LDH nanosheets, the In2S3/NiFe-LDH photoanode displays a lower onset potential of 0.06 V and an enhanced photocurrent density as high as 0.30 mA·cm−2 at the potential of 1.0 V (vs. RHE). Furthermore, it also displays a 90% degradation rate of xylose oxidizing into xylose acid in 3 h under UV light. This work provides a promising approach for designing new heterojunctions applied to biomass degradation.

The instability of geological slopes in mining environments poses a significant challenge to the safety and efficiency of operations. Waste Dump#2 at the Ziluoyi Iron Mine in China is a notable case study that highlights the challenges associated with sizable base slopes and large step heights. To address hidden hazards in the mine and the above issues, an inclusive investigation is carried out to examine the physical and mechanical properties of the soil–rock slope through indoor testing and analyze the deformation mechanisms of the slope using numerical simulations, taking various factors into account. The study reveals that the stability of Waste Dump#2 is deeply affected by weight, groundwater conditions, earthquake loading, and rainfall. To this end, the cohesion and internal friction parameters of the soil–rock slope are first determined through direct shear tests, which show a cohesion of 6.215 kPa at the top of the slope and an internal friction angle of 34.12°. By adopting GEO-SLOPE, 3D Mine, and AutoCAD software, stability calculations of the slope are performed, which give stability coefficients of 1.547 under normal conditions, 1.276 in rainfall, and 1.352 in seismic conditions. These results meet safety standards and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the mine.

Chloride ion corrosion has been considered to be one of the main reasons for durability deterioration of reinforced concrete structures in marine or chlorine-containing deicing salt environments. This paper studies the relationship between the amount of fly ash and the durability of concrete, especially the resistance to chloride ion erosion. The heat trend map of total chloride ion factor correlation displayed that the ranking of factor correlations was as follows: sampling depth > cement dosage > fly ash dosage. In order to verify the effect of fly ash dosage on chloride ion resistance, three different machine learning algorithms (RF, GBR, DT) are employed to predict the total chloride content of fly ash proportioned concrete with varying admixture ratios, which are evaluated based on R2, MSE, RMSE, and MAE. The results predicted by the RF model show that the threshold of fly ash admixture in chlorinated salt environments is 30–40%. Replacing part of cement with fly ash in the mixture of concrete below this threshold of fly ash, it could change the phase structure and pore structure, which could improve the permeability of fly ash concrete and reduce the content of free chloride ions in the system. Machine learning modeling using sample data can accurately predict concrete properties, which effectively reduce engineering tests. The development of machine learning models is essential for the decarbonization and intelligence of engineering.

Cracks inside urban underground comprehensive pipe galleries are small and their characteristics are not obvious. Due to low lighting and large shadow areas, the differentiation between the cracks and background in an image is low. Most current semantic segmentation methods focus on overall segmentation and have a large perceptual range. However, for urban underground comprehensive pipe gallery crack segmentation tasks, it is difficult to pay attention to the detailed features of local edges to obtain accurate segmentation results. A Global Attention Segmentation Network (GA-SegNet) is proposed in this paper. The GA-SegNet is designed to perform semantic segmentation by incorporating global attention mechanisms. In order to perform precise pixel classification in the image, a residual separable convolution attention model is employed in an encoder to extract features at multiple scales. A global attention upsample model (GAM) is utilized in a decoder to enhance the connection between shallow-level features and deep abstract features, which could increase the attention of the network towards small cracks. By employing a balanced loss function, the contribution of crack pixels is increased while reducing the focus on background pixels in the overall loss. This approach aims to improve the segmentation accuracy of cracks. The comparative experimental results with other classic models show that the GA SegNet model proposed in this study has better segmentation performance and multiple evaluation indicators, and has advantages in segmentation accuracy and efficiency.

In this paper, based on the feasible method and sensors for the full-scale prestressed monitor, the novel optical fiber sensors and the traditional monitoring sensors will be set up into two prestressed concrete beams with the same geometrical dimensions, material properties, and construction conditions, etc. to investigate the working state of the novel sensors and obtain the evolution law of prestress loss of the prestressed feature component under the static load. The results show that the evolution law of prestress loss of the loaded beam under the condition of no damage state and initial crack is the same as the non-loaded one; however, the prestress loss increases with the increase of time under the situation with the limit crack. The total loss of the prestressed beam with the limit crack is 36.4% without damage. The prestress loss of the prestressed beam under the static load increase with the development of the crack (injury).

Konjac glucomannan (KGM) is a kind of excellent food additive and also be used for the modification of biological macromolecules. Starch is an important natural macromolecule that provides energy for the human body, while it has regenerate easily, weak shear resistance, heat instability and other defects. Physical method has the characteristics of convenience, environmental protection and low cost, and is commonly used to modify starch properties in food industry. Herein, this paper introduces the research progress of starch modification by KGM, and summarizes the beneficial improvements of rheological properties, regeneration properties and digestive properties of starch modification by KGM. In addition, the application of KGM in functional foods, such as active substance delivery, diet food, and disease-prevention food are also systematically reviewed. This work would provide a scientific basis for starch modification by KGM and a new strategy for the development of functional foods.

This paper proposes a non-smooth human influenza model with logistic source to describe the impact on media coverage and quarantine of susceptible populations of the human influenza transmission process. First, we choose two thresholds $ I_{T} $ and $ S_{T} $ as a broken line control strategy: Once the number of infected people exceeds $ I_{T} $, the media influence comes into play, and when the number of susceptible individuals is greater than $ S_{T} $, the control by quarantine of susceptible individuals is open. Furthermore, by choosing different thresholds $ I_{T} $ and $ S_{T} $ and using Filippov theory, we study the dynamic behavior of the Filippov model with respect to all possible equilibria. It is shown that the Filippov system tends to the pseudo-equilibrium on sliding mode domain or one endemic equilibrium or bistability endemic equilibria under some conditions. The regular/virtulal equilibrium bifurcations are also given. Lastly, numerical simulation results show that choosing appropriate threshold values can prevent the outbreak of influenza, which implies media coverage and quarantine of susceptible individuals can effectively restrain the transmission of influenza. The non-smooth system with logistic source can provide some new insights for the prevention and control of human influenza.

This paper considers the stability of a fractional differential equation with multi-point boundary conditions and non-instantaneous integral impulse. Some sufficient conditions for the existence, uniqueness and at least one solution of the aforementioned equation are studied by using the Diaz-Margolis fixed point theorem. Secondly, the Ulam stability of the equation is also discussed. Lastly, we give one example to support our main results. It is worth pointing out that these two non-instantaneous integral impulse and multi-point boundary conditions factors are simultaneously considered in the fractional differential equations studied for the first time.

Abstract Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is extensively applied in the 3D printing field due to its excellent biocompatibility, flexibility, and gas permeability. However, as a thermal curing material, its low strength before curing inevitably causes structural deformation during the printing process and deteriorates the shape accuracy. In this paper, an innovative method, the infrared laser‐assisted direct ink writing (DIW) process, is developed to realize the in situ preheating and curing of silicone materials to improve the strength of PDMS filaments during processing. Therefore, the large‐span spatial structure with high‐fidelity morphology can be produced. First, the feasibility is validated that temperature ascension of the voxels arising from the irradiation energy of the infrared laser can accelerate the cross‐linking reaction and realize the precuring of PDMS; then, the relationship between the parameters of laser irradiation and the processing performance of 3D printing is systematically investigated to find the optimization. Finally, experiments are conducted, including the single silicone filament, silicone foams, and complex 3D features. Their excellent structural preservation proves the proposed method is practical to fabricate the high‐fidelity fabrication of complex structures such as large spans and thin wall features, which will help to broaden the 3D printing capabilities of silicone in the development of flexible electronics and soft robots.

Introduction: How to solve the contradiction between coal mining and soil and water conservation is a key scientific problem to realize ecological environment protection and high-quality development in the middle reaches of the Yellow River.Methods: Using FLAC3D numerical simulation experiment method, the influence of loess slope surface shape and coal seam overburden structure coupling on slope movement and deformation is studied.Results: Under any surface slope shape, the average slope subsidence coefficient (q slope average) increases with the increase of sand layer coefficient after coal mining subsidence. When the sand layer coefficient is less than 0.71, the q slope average increases rapidly, with an increase of more than 2.86%, and when the sand layer coefficient is greater than 0.71, the q slope average tends to be stable. Under any surface slope shape, the q slope average decreases with the increase of sand-mud ratio. When the overburden structure characteristics of any coal seam and the natural slope of the surface slope are less than or equal to 5°, the q slope average of the convex slope is the largest, and the q slope average of the four slope types is ranked as follows: convex slope > straight slope ≈ composite slope > concave slope; When the structural characteristics of overlying strata in any coal seam and the natural slope of surface slope are more than 5°, the q slope average of concave slope is the largest, and the q slope average of four slope types is in the order of concave slope > straight slope ≈ composite slope > convex slope. With the increase of the natural slope of the surface slope, the q slope average first decreases and then increases, and the inflection point is 15°. The influence law of loess slope surface morphology and coal seam overburden structure on the average horizontal movement of slope surface is similar to that of average subsidence of slope surface.Discussion: The results can provide scientific basis for surface movement and deformation and soil and water conservation in the mining subsidence area of northern Shaanxi in the middle reaches of the Yellow River Basin in China.

Inorganic phosphate (Pi) starvation severely affects the normal growth and development of plants. In this study, MdSAT1, a Pi-responsive bHLH transcription factor, was isolated from apples. Ectopic expression of MdAST1 in Arabidopsis increased the number of lateral roots and root tips, as well as the transcript levels of genes related to Pi uptake and transport; thus, improving Pi utilization in response to a Pi deficiency. Ectopic expression of MdSAT1 significantly accelerated flowering and leaf senescence in Arabidopsis under a Pi deficiency. Taken together, the present study provides a basis for an in-depth investigation of the mechanisms of MdSAT1 on apple Pi uptake and utilization as well as plant growth and development.

Psammosilene tunicoides is an important ethnic medicine in Southwest China and the main raw material for Chinese patent medicines like Yunnan Baiyao. The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify the pathogenic fungus of root rot of Psammosilene tunicoides in Yunnan. In this study, the disease-health junction of the root tissue of diseased plant was isolated and purified by pure culture method to obtain the main pathogenic microorganisms of P. tunicoides. Pathogenicity of isolated pathogenic microorganisms was analyzed the according to Koch’s Postulates, and then were identified by morphological observation, rDNA-ITS and TEF-1α sequence analysis and phylogenetic tree construction. The results were as follows: (1) A total of 85 strains of fungi were obtained, among which PSD-1, PSD-2 and PSD-3 of Fusarium fungi caused root rot of Psammosilene tunicoides. (2) These three strains were re-inoculated into the P. tunicoides, which produced similar disease symptoms occurred with field plants, and the disease incidences after inoculation with pathogenic fungi were 60%, 61.7% and 71.7%, respectively. (3) Combined with morphological observation and gene sequence analysis, the three strains were identified as Fusarium oxysporum. This study firstly found that the F. oxysporum was one of the main pathogenic fungi causing root rot of Psammosilene tunicoides. The results of this study lay a foundation for the in-depth exploration of the endophytic flora with biological control of root rot and its mechanism, and serve as a theoretical basis for the follow-up prevention and control of the disease.

The air pollution problem has been a serious issue for public health and city development in recent years, which rises an urgent demand for accurate air pollution prediction models. Traditional time series prediction scheme has been challenged in such case because the air pollution signals can be highly dynamic and uncertain. Distinct latent physical processes and complex environment changes over time make it hard for one fixed model to give consistently good performance. Also probabilistic prediction and uncertainty-aware estimation are critical when the model is used for public decisions in practice. However, few previous works can simultaneously provide adaptive and probabilistic air pollution prediction abilities, which are important practical issues for the real-world implementation of data-driven air pollution prediction models. In this paper we propose an adversarial meta learning approach to address these concerns. After reformulating the target signals as a collection of independent but similar mini-tasks along time, we adversarially learn a meta model that includes an implicit generator to adaptively give more informative probabilistic predictions across tasks. We further provide a bayesian meta learning interpretation that recasts the proposed model as an approximate minimizer for the Wasserstein distance between a generative latent model and the true data distribution. Our model provides an algorithm that explicitly models how the prediction distribution is conditioned on underlying data patterns and simultaneously gives adaptive uncertainty estimation. Experiments on both synthetic and real-world air pollution datasets show that the proposed model can simultaneously provide better probabilistic and adaptive prediction while keeping stratifying point prediction error.

Abstract Background Emerging evidences show that Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) play a pivotal role in numerous complex human diseases. Identifying potential piRNA-disease associations (PDAs) is crucial for understanding disease pathogenesis at molecular level. Compared to the biological wet experiments, the computational methods provide a cost-effective strategy. However, few computational methods have been developed so far. Results Here, we proposed an end-to-end model, referred to as PDA-PRGCN (PDA prediction using subgraph Projection and Residual scaling-based feature augmentation through Graph Convolutional Network). Specifically, starting with the known piRNA-disease associations represented as a graph, we applied subgraph projection to construct piRNA-piRNA and disease-disease subgraphs for the first time, followed by a residual scaling-based feature augmentation algorithm for node initial representation. Then, we adopted graph convolutional network (GCN) to learn and identify potential PDAs as a link prediction task on the constructed heterogeneous graph. Comprehensive experiments, including the performance comparison of individual components in PDA-PRGCN, indicated the significant improvement of integrating subgraph projection, node feature augmentation and dual-loss mechanism into GCN for PDA prediction. Compared with state-of-the-art approaches, PDA-PRGCN gave more accurate and robust predictions. Finally, the case studies further corroborated that PDA-PRGCN can reliably detect PDAs. Conclusion PDA-PRGCN provides a powerful method for PDA prediction, which can also serve as a screening tool for studies of complex diseases.

Proton treatment may deliver a larger dose to a patient’s skin than traditional photon therapy, especially when a range shifter (RS) is inserted in the beam path. This study investigated the effects of an RS on skin dose while considering RS with different thicknesses, airgaps and materials. First, the physical model of the scanning nozzle with RS was established in the TOol for PArticle Simulation (TOPAS) code, and the effects of the RS on the skin dose were studied. Second, the variations in the skin dose and isocenter beam size were examined by reducing the air gap. Finally, the effects of different RS materials, such as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), Lexan, polyethylene and polystyrene, on the skin dose were analysed. The results demonstrated that the current RS design had a negligible effect on the skin dose, whereas the RS significantly impacted the isocenter beam size. The skin dose was increased considerably when the RS was placed close to the phantom. Moreover, the magnitude of the increase was related to the thickness of the inserted RS. Meanwhile, the results also revealed that the secondary proton primarily contributed to the increased skin dose.

In this paper, the sparrow search algorithm is used to predict the discharge coefficient (Cd) of the triangular side orifice for the first time. Dimensionless parameters influencing the size of Cd of side orifices are obtained as input values and discharge coefficient as output values of the model. The results show that the determination coefficient R2 is 0.973, the root means square error RMSE is 0.0122, and the average absolute percentage error is 0.010% in the testing phase. The model has high forecast accuracy, strong generalization ability and higher accuracy than other models and traditional empirical formulas. Quantitative analysis by Sobol's method shows that the ratio W/H of top orifice height to side orifice height, Fr of upstream Froude number, and ratio B/L of channel width to a bottom edge length of side orifice are the main factors influencing the discharge capacity of triangular side orifice. The first-order sensitivity coefficient and global sensitivity coefficient are 0.23, 0.11, 0.17 and 0.41, 0.39, 0.35 respectively. A complete accounting of nearby objects—from the highest-mass white dwarf progenitors down to low-mass brown dwarfs—is now possible, thanks to an almost complete set of trigonometric parallax determinations from Gaia, ground-based surveys, and Spitzer follow-up.
