Rare metals such as lithium (Li), rubidium (Rb), and cesium (Cs) are strategically crucial mineral resources for the development of emerging industries in China. Ensuring a stable long-term supply of these resources is essential. The geothermal systems in Xizang, China are well-developed, with a wide distribution of various types. Most high-temperature geothermal systems in Xizang are exceptionally enriched in rare metal elements (RMEs) and have the potential to become a new source of rare metals to secure China's strategic mineral resource supply in the future. A close relationship also exists between the geothermal system and the special salt lake resources on the Tibetan Plateau. Geothermal springs thus play a key role in the migration and enrichment of RMEs from deep to shallow parts of the crust, in the transition between endogenous and exogenous mineralization, and source-to-sink processes. However, the mechanisms of element enrichment and evolution in these springs have not been systematically discussed, and many theoretical issues remain to be investigated. Based on summarizing and analyzing previous research, this study employs hydrochemical and isotopic geochemistry methods to investigate typical geothermal springs across Xizang and explore the anomalous enrichment mechanism of RMEs, and the resource effects of geothermal springs. Comprehensive analysis shows that the total dissolved solids (TDS) and hydrochemical types of geothermal springs are similar to those of major geothermal fields worldwide, but the Tibetan springs are abnormally rich in Li (averaging 5.48 mg/L), Rb (averaging 0.75 mg/L), and Cs (averaging 3.58 mg/L), which are hundreds to thousands of times more concentrated than natural waters. The distribution of these enriched geothermal springs is controlled by the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone and the extended N-S trending rifts, especially in the intersection zone of the two, where the geothermal springs are the most enriched. Based on the spatial distribution, isotopic, and elemental geochemistry, the RMEs enriched in Tibetan geothermal springs are mainly derived from the magmatic-hydrothermal fluids generated by the partial melting of the subducted Indian plate under the Eurasian continent. These fluids not only maintain geothermal activities as a heat source but also participate in the material cycle of the geothermal spring as a material source. Against the background of regional crustal enrichment in RMEs, incompatible elements such as Li, Rb, and Cs are gradually enriched in magmatic-hydrothermal processes including partial melting in the source, magmatic differentiation, and hydrothermal fluid exsolution, and some ore-forming elements are further extracted from surrounding rocks through deep high-temperature water-rock interactions. Eventually, an eruption occurs, and these fluids move to the surface to form a geothermal spring rich in RMEs. With the drainage of geothermal springs, the RMEs are continuously transported to the lake basin by surface runoff and continue to concentrate and evolve into salt lake brines under an extremely arid climate environment, constituting an endogenous source and exogenous accumulation salt lake metallogenic model. This comprehensive explanation of the sources, migration, enrichment mechanisms, and resource effects of geothermal springs will deepen the understanding of rare metal mineralization processes, and aid in the advancement of theoretical models for key rare metal mineral resources in various geological bodies of the Tibetan Plateau, significantly expanding exploration scopes and accurately assessing the resource potential of RMEs. Experimental investigation of the fractionation behavior of Cu isotopes during the replacement of pyrite by Cu-bearing sulfides (chalcopyrite, bornite, and chalcocite) was conducted under hydrothermal conditions. At the initial stages of the replacement reaction, small mounds of product formed on the pyrite surface; these mounds then grew and coalesced, progressively covering the pyrite grains as the reaction proceeded. Chalcopyrite, bornite, and chalcocite formed sequential monomineralic zones from the pyrite reaction front towards the solution. During the early stage of the reaction, Cu isotope fractionation between the solids and the aqueous solution (Δ65Cu solid-aqueous , Δ65Cu solid-aqueous = δ65Cu solid – δ65Cu aqueous) was approximately –0.6 ‰, similar to the calculated equilibrium Cu isotope fractionation factors between Cu-bearing sulfides (chalcopyrite, bornite, and chalcocite) and CuCl 2 –. However, the Δ65Cu solid-aqueous moved progressively further from equilibrium with prolonged reaction time, with fractionation factors ranging from approximately –0.6 ‰ to –1.2 ‰. We found that significant fractionation of Cu isotopes between the solid products and aqueous solution was mainly controlled by the amount of chalcopyrite that formed in the product layers. We interpret that the Δ65Cu solid-aqueous was controlled by the diffusion of aqueous Cu(I) species among the product layers and the changes in Cu redox state during the precipitation of chalcopyrite. These results imply that the δ65Cu values measured in sulfides from low-temperature hydrothermal deposits may be controlled by the local chemistry of the fluids in product layers that precipitate sulfides. This study highlights the importance of local fluid characteristics, such as redox conditions, metal speciation, and diffusion, in controlling isotope fractionation pathways during non-equilibrium mineral replacement. The Tieshanlong ore field is an important part of the Nanling Range, which is famous worldwide for its W‐Sn mineralization. Notably, the mineralization age of the Tieshanlong ore field is not well constrained, and our field investigation reveals that granitic emplacement occurred at different stages. However, previous studies have not distinguished these multiple stages of magmatism. The Tieshanlong granite complex is closely related to the Huangsha quartz vein‐type W‐Sn deposit and Tongling skarn‐type Cu‐W‐Sn deposit in this field. Through field investigations and isotopic age analyses, this work studies the relationship between multistage magmatic activity and mineralization in the Tieshanlong ore field. LA‐ICP‐MS zircon U‐Pb isotope analyses revealed that the first‐ and second‐staged granites formed at 154.2 ± 0.6 Ma (MSDW = 1.4) and 151.2 ± 0.4 Ma (MSDW = 1.5), with zircon εHf(t) values ranging from ‐13.1 to ‐10.5 and from ‐14.7 to ‐11.1, respectively. These data suggest that the Tieshanlong granite complex was derived from the partial melting of ancient crustal material. LA‐ICP‐MS U‐Pb dating of wolframite and cassiterite reveals that W‐Sn mineralization occurred at 160–150 Ma, which agrees well with the U‐Pb dating results of the second‐staged granite within analytical errors. The magmatic activity in this ore field can be divided into three stages: 175–154 Ma, 154–150 Ma and 150–145 Ma. The quartz vein‐ and skarn‐type W‐Sn mineralization is closely related to second‐staged fine‐grained two‐mica granite, and formed earlier than skarn‐type Cu‐ mineralization. This study establishes a metallogenic model for the Tieshanlong ore field, and this model has important practical significance for identifying concealed W‐Sn(‐Cu) deposits around other granitic complexes in the Nanling Range. Accurately determining the timing of hydrothermal mineralization for sediment-hosted disseminated gold (SHDG) deposits is difficult because of a lack of both suitable chronometers and in situ techniques with the required spatial resolution and precision. The lack of precise age determinations on gold deposits has hindered understanding of their genesis and relation to the geodynamic setting. The Qiuling-Jinlongshan deposit is a typical SHDG deposit located in the eastern South Qinling Orogen (SQO), with 109 t Au at an average grade of 6.17 g/t. Devonian and Carboniferous metasedimentary rocks host structurally controlled gold mineralization, which is associated with silica-carbonate alteration. Pyrite, arsenopyrite, and arsenian pyrite are major gold carriers, and gold also occurs as native gold grains and invisible gold in the sulfides. In this study, the well-defined hydrothermal overgrowth rims (~2 μm) of single monazite grains, associated with disseminated auriferous arsenian pyrite and arsenopyrite in low-grade metasedimentary rocks, yield U-Pb ages of239 ± 13 Ma (2σ) by high spatial resolution secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). The hydrothermal monazites are cogenetic to the primary gold mineralization where they are closely associated with gold-bearing sulfides. This new age implies that the early to middle Triassic mineralization event in the eastern SQO was related to the Triassic tectonic transition from compression to transpression in the Qinling Orogen after the closure of the Mianlue Ocean. This study highlights the 2-μm high spatial resolution SIMS monazite U-Th-Pb dating method as a powerful tool for determining the timing of SHDG deposits worldwide. Magnetite is common in various magmatic and hydrothermal ore deposit types, and its trace element geochemistry has become increasingly used in ore genesis studies and mineral exploration. While fractional crystallization has been shown to influence the chemistry of igneous magnetite, the extent to which this process regulates the trace element composition of hydrothermal magnetite remains poorly understood. In this study, we analyzed trace elements in hydrothermal magnetite from the Baijian Fe-(Co) skarn deposit in eastern China and used Rayleigh and equilibrium fractionation modeling to demonstrate the importance of magnetite precipitation in controlling fluid and magnetite chemistry during Fe skarn mineralization. The Baijian Fe-(Co) skarn deposit has three stages of magnetite. From early Mag-1 to later Mag-2 and Mag-3, the concentrations of compatible elements (Ni and V) decrease, whereas those of incompatible elements (Zn, Mn, and Co) increase. There are obvious trends of increasing incompatible/compatible element ratios (e.g., Co/Ni, Zn/V, and Zn/Ni) and decreasing compatible/incompatible element ratios (e.g., V/Mn, Ni/Mn, and V/Co) from Mag-1 to Mag-3, with strong correlations between each of these ratios. Such systematic trace element variations in successive stages of magnetite can be best explained by increasing degrees of fractional crystallization with time. The wide range of incompatible/compatible element ratios (spanning 2-4 orders of magnitude) in Mag-2 and Mag-3 suggests that magnetite crystallization follows a process akin to Rayleigh fractionation. Results from this study highlight the significant role that magnetite crystallization during skarn formation has on the trace element chemistry of this mineral. Moreover, as the crystallization of magnetite progresses, the Co/Fe ratio of residual hydrothermal fluids is elevated, which favors the precipitation of Co in late-stage sulfides. This process helps to explain why some Fe skarn deposits, as well as magnetite-rich iron oxide-apatite and iron oxide-copper-gold deposits, are potentially important economic sources for Co, currently necessary as one component in Li-ion batteries. Stibnite precipitates in the form of massive boulders at two active hydrothermal mounds in the submarine Wakamiko Crater (Ryukyu Volcanic Arc) as opposed to commonly observed accessory stibnite in the seafloor hydrothermal deposits. The stibnite dimorph, metastibnite, found here for the first time on the seafloor, appears to always form whenever stibnite is precipitated under submarine hydrothermal conditions. Our study shows that hydrothermal conditions of low temperatures (<50 °C) and low values of pH (<6) are favorable for the precipitation of stibnite on the seafloor. The stibnite probably does not precipitate at the measured vent fluid temperatures (i.e., 177.6–187.0 °C) along the chimney conduits, but rather at temperatures <50 °C and at slightly reduced to slightly oxic conditions (Eh = –0.5 to +0.5 V) within the chimney walls and hydrothermal mounds. Metastibnite deposition appears to be the result of rapid quenching of hot hydrothermal fluid when mixed with cold seawater and rapid precipitation at the interface between stibnite and vent fluid. The low concentrations (usually below detection limits) of the trace elements (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Li, Mn, Mo, Ni, P, Pb, Sr, V, Zn) in the stibnite deposits from Wakamiko Crater are likely a result of the decreased metal-transporting capacity of the precipitating vent fluid due to its low chlorinity. Low-chlorinity venting implies sub-seafloor boiling and phase separation of the hydrothermal fluid. Sluggish hydrothermal fluid/seawater mixing within the walls of the chimneys and mounds favors the reduction of sulfate dissolved in the hydrothermal fluids and results in a heavy S isotope composition of the sulfate in the vent fluids. Sulfate reduction and disproportionation of magmatic SO2, both leading to heavy S isotope composition of sulfate in the vent fluids, seem to be common processes in volcanic arc/back-arc submarine hydrothermal settings. Owing to their flexibility and high thermal resistance, para-aramid based Kevlar™ fabric substrates are an ideal candidate for obtaining flexible gas sensors for new-generation wearable technologies. The morphology of the surface of the substrate where the target gas comes into contact directly affects the important features of the sensor such as detection limit, selectivity, and response. In this context, a feasible technique is introduced to enhance the efficiency of flexible gas sensors utilizing ZnO/Kevlar™, entailing the modification of ZnO morphology. ZnO based gas sensing layers were deposited on Kevlar™ fabric substrates by a two-stage method. Initially, seed layer was produced on Kevlar™ fabric using the ultrasonic bath method, with five different seed layer processing times ranging from 1 min to 20 min. In the nucleation, all nanostructured layers were deposited by hydrothermal method with constant parameters and under the same conditions. As the seeding time was increased, nanorods (1D) formed on the surface became flakes (2D), leading to considerable improvement in NH3 gas sensing properties. The sensor with a 5-min seeding time showed a sensitivity of 49 % at an optimal operating temperature of 190 °C, while the sensor produced in 20 min showed the best response performance with 169 % at 130 °C for 50 ppm NH3 gas. The increase in seeding time not only reduced the operating temperature of the gas sensor through the conversion from 1D nanostructure to 2D, but also significantly increased the sensor response. Under constant hydrothermal conditions and solution concentration, the density per unit area increases. However, after 10 min of seeding, the length of nanorods shortens and turn into a rod-flake hybrid morphology. A superior sensor performance was demonstrated for the samples examined. Antimony selenosulfide (Sb2(S,Se)3) has obtained widespread concern for photovoltaic applications as a light absorber due to superior photoelectric features. Accordingly, various deposition technologies have been developed in recent years, especially hydrothermal deposition method, which has achieved a great success. However, device performances are limited with severe carrier recombination, relating to the quality of absorber and interfaces. Herein, bulk and interface defects are simultaneously suppressed by regulating heterogeneous nucleation kinetics with barium dibromide (BaBr2) introduction. In details, the Br adsorbs and dopes on the polar planes of cadmium sulfide (CdS) buffer layer, promoting the exposure of nonpolar planes of CdS, which facilitates the favorable growth of [hk1]‐Sb2(S,Se)3 films possessing superior crystallinity and small interface defects. Additionally, the Se/S ratio is increased due to the replacement of Se by Br, causing a downshift of the Fermi levels with a benign band alignment and a shallow‐level defect. Moreover, Ba2+ is located at grain boundaries by coordination with S and Se ions, passivating grain boundary defects. Consequently, the efficiency is increased from 7.70 % to 10.12 %. This work opens an avenue towards regulating the heterogeneous nucleation kinetics of Sb2(S,Se)3 film deposited via hydrothermal deposition approach to optimize its crystalline orientation and defect features. In recent times, geological remote sensing has greatly enhanced the ability to access alteration zones and identify potential sites for hydrothermal deposits quickly and cost-effectively. This study utilizes satellite image processing methods to map the alteration zones in the exploration area of the Zafarghand. The study area is located in the NE of Isfahan and falls within the central structural zone of Iran. The Zafarghand porphyry system exhibits phyllic, potassic, propylitic, and argillic alteration halos. Alterations in this study were detected using ASTER sensor imagery. Each pixel's digital number value from the satellite images, organized in a matrix, serves as a sample in a systematic grid. The singularity method algorithm was then applied as an effective structural tool to identify geochemical anomalies in the digital pixel values from ASTER images. The findings demonstrate that the singularity method, due to its structural attributes, has been successful in decision-making and highly effective on determining promising areas in the study area, especially for propylitic and phyllic alterations. An original database compiled by the authors on volatile components of mineral-hosted fluid inclusions currently includes 12 470 analyses from 480 publications and was used to calculate the average gas phase composition of fluids that formed hydrothermal deposits throughout the Earth's geological evolution, from the Archean to Cenozoic. The paper reviews the methods used in the study, their potential errors, and limitations. Characteristics of the gas composition of fluids are traced for more than 300 ore deposits of Au, Sn, W, Cu, Cu, Pb, Zn, Sb, Mo, and U. The dominant volatile component of natural mineralizing fluids in the Earth's crust is carbon dioxide, regardless of the geologic age. The fluids contain subordinate amounts of reduced carbon species (methane) and nitrogen, as well as minor amounts of hydrogen sulfide and some other gases. The Cenozoic fluids commonly contain more nitrogen than methane. These relations are occasionally also found in the Precambrian fluids. The CO2/CH4 ratio as an indicator of the redox state of the system notably increased over the Earth's geological history. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hydrothermal alteration and mineralization processes can affect the physical and chemical properties of volcanic rocks. Aggressive acidic degassing and fluid flow often also lead to changes in the appearance of a rock, such as changes in surface coloration or intense bleaching. Although hydrothermal alteration can have far-reaching consequences for rock stability and permeability, limited knowledge exists on the detailed structures, extent, and dynamic changes that take place near the surface of hydrothermal venting systems. By integrating drone-based photogrammetry with mineralogical and chemical analyses of rock samples and surface gas flux, we investigate the structure of the evolving volcanic degassing and alteration system at the La Fossa cone on the island of Vulcano, Italy. Our image analysis combines principal component analysis (PCA) with image classification and thermal analysis through which we identify an area of approximately 70 000 m2 that outlines the maximum extent of hydrothermal alteration effects at the surface, represented by a shift in rock color from reddish to gray. Within this area, we identify distinct gradients of surface coloration and temperature that indicate a local variability in the degassing and alteration intensity and define several structural units within the fumarole field. At least seven such larger units of increased activity could be constrained. Through mineralogical and geochemical analysis of samples from the different alteration units, we define a relationship between surface appearance in drone imagery and the mineralogical and chemical composition. Gradients in surface color from reddish to gray correlate with a reduction in Fe2O3 from up to 3.2 % in the unaltered regime to 0.3 % in the altered regime, and the latter coincides with the area of increased diffuse acid gas flux. As the pixel brightness increases towards higher alteration gradients, we note a loss of the initial (igneous) mineral fraction and a change in the bulk chemical composition with a concomitant increase in sulfur content from close to 0 % in the unaltered samples to up to 60 % in samples from the altered domains. Using this approach of combined remote-sensing and in situ analyses, we define and spatially constrain several alteration units and compare them to the present-day thermally active surface and degassing pattern over the main crater area. The combined results permit us to present a detailed anatomy of the La Fossa fumarole field, including high-temperature fumaroles and seven larger units of increased alteration intensity, surface temperature, and variably intense surface degassing. Importantly, we also identify apparently sealed surface domains that prevent degassing, likely as a consequence of mineral precipitation from degassing and alteration processes. By assessing the thermal energy release of the identified spatial units quantitatively, we show that thermal radiation of high-temperature fumaroles accounts for < 50 % of the total thermal energy release only and that the larger part is emitted by diffuse degassing units. The integrated use of methods presented here has proven to be a useful combination for a detailed characterization of alteration and activity patterns of volcanic degassing sites and has the potential for application in alteration research and for the monitoring of volcanic degassing systems. This study focuses on the relationship between U and pyrochlore in the world-class Sn-Nb-Ta (U, Th, REE, Li) Madeira deposit within the Pitinga mining district of northern Brazil. The primary U mineralization is of intrusive-type and early magmatic origin, hosted in the peralkaline albite-enriched granite facies of the A-type Madeira granite (~1820 Ma). U-Pb-LREE-enriched pyrochlore is the only primary U ore and is widely and homogeneously dispersed in two albite-enriched granite subfacies: the albite-enriched granite core (AGC) and the albite-enriched granite border (AGB). In both zones, the pyrochlore crystals underwent strong hydrothermal alteration by F-rich, low-temperature aqueous fluids. During this hypogene alteration process, cations such as LREE, Nb, and F were selectively released, while others like Fe and Si were introduced. This led to the successive formation of various secondary pyrochlore varieties and a relative enrichment of U (up to 13.73 wt.% UO2). The alteration of pyrochlore eventually resulted in the breakdown of its structure, leading to the formation of U-bearing columbite pseudomorphs and the precipitation of U-rich silicates (up to 34.35 wt.% UO2), galena, and LREE-rich fluorides within pyrochlore vugs. In contrast to the homogeneous distribution of the primary ore mineralization, the secondary pyrochlore mineralization shows striking zonation, being most intense in the AGB and AGC proximal to a massive cryolite deposit. The U mineralization in the Madeira deposit exhibits grades of 328 ppm UO2, comparable to the main deposits of this type, with significant reserves of up to 52 kt U. However, it is different from those deposits in four key aspects: homogeneous dispersion of mineralization; pyrochlore as the exclusive primary ore mineral; U and Th mineralizations formed at different stages; and intense hydrothermal alteration. Carbonates have been traditionally regarded as post-ore minerals in hydrothermal deposits, but they can also occur in pre- and syn-ore stages. However, the genetic relationships between multistage carbonates and gold precipitation mechanisms remain unclear. The Jinshan gold deposit, the largest gold deposit in the eastern Jiangnan orogen, is characterized by the occurrence of abundant hydrothermal carbonates. The nature of the carbonates, especially their association with gold precipitation, was examined in this study through petrographic and geochemical analyses as well as geochemical modeling. Field and petrographic work recognized four paragenesis stages in the Jinshan deposit: (1) quartz (Q1)-carbonate, (2) pyritequartz (Q2), (3) gold-polysulfide-quartz (Q3)-carbonate, and (4) chlorite-quartz (Q4)-carbonate. Carbonates associated with gold mineralization are mainly present in the first and third stages. Among them, the first-stage carbonates are pre-ore ankerites (Ank1), which are generally crosscut by synore sulfides. Such carbonates mostly occur in altered host rocks that are characterized by bleaching. Mineralogical and geochemical analyses revealed that chlorite was consumed while ankerite was produced, and Fe contents of the host rocks remained generally unchanged during alteration. Consequently, ankerite (Ank1) is interpreted to have been generated by the interaction of CO2-bearing fluids and chlorite in the host rocks. Geochemical modeling revealed that both Fe-bearing chlorite and ankerite (Ank1) can lead to gold precipitation by triggering sulfidation, but ankerite has higher chemical reactivity and therefore is kinetically favorable for more efficient gold deposition. Synore carbonates were mainly formed in the third stage, primarily consisting of ankerite (Ank2) with minor calcite, and they were coprecipitated with native gold, galena, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite. Two stages of carbonates shared similar δ13CVPDB values and Pb, Zn, and Cu contents but different Ca, Mg, Mn, and Sr contents, indicating they formed at different stages of the same hydrothermal event. Geochemical modeling demonstrated that pH increases, as indicated by the formation of syn-ore carbonates, together with the consumption of S due to the precipitation of pyrite and arsenopyrite in the second stage, resulted in the decrease of Au, Pb, Zn, and Cu solubility in aqueous fluids. This would have led to the coprecipitation of native gold with galena, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite, forming the general small-scale but commonly occurring native gold–polysulfide veins in the hydrothermal gold deposits. Consequently, both pre- and syn-ore carbonates in the Jinshan deposit were genetically associated with efficient Au-polymetallic deposition through distinct mechanisms. Pre-ore carbonates caused the large-scale bleaching of the host rocks, while syn-ore carbonates were closely related to native gold–polysulfides, and they can both be used as exploration indicators for the Jinshan deposit and other similar hydrothermal gold deposits worldwide. Hydrothermal liquefaction is a new, sustainable pathway to generate biogenic liquids from organic resources. The technology is compatible with a wide variety of resources such as lignocellulosic resources, organic waste, algae, and sewage sludge. The chemistry is complex and predictions of yields are notoriously difficult. Understanding and modeling of hydrothermal liquefaction is currently mostly based on a simplified biochemical analysis and product yield data. This paper presents a large dataset of 2439 experiments in batch reactors that were extracted from 171 publications in the scientific literature. The data include biochemical composition data such as fiber content and composition, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and ash. The experimental conditions are recorded for each experiment as well as the reported yields. The objective of this paper is to make a large database available to the scientific community. This database is analyzed with machine‐learning tools. The results show that there is no consensus on the analysis techniques, experimental procedures, and reported data. There are many inconsistencies across the literature that should be improved by the scientific community. Machine‐learning tools with a large dataset allow the generation of reliable yield production tools with a large application field. Te–Bi bearing minerals are commonly present in many hydrothermal gold deposits and can provide important physicochemical constraints on their mineralization. The gold mineralization in the Xiejiagou gold deposit is hosted in the Mesozoic Linglong granite and consists of auriferous quartz veins and subordinate disseminated ores in the vein-proximal alteration zone. Three types of pyrite were identified that formed in stage I, II, and III. Gold occurs mostly as native gold and electrum (Ag > 20 wt.%) inclusions in or filling microfractures in pyrite. The abundant auriferous pyrite-quartz veins contain an assemblage of tsumoite and hessite. The tsumoite occurs as irregular inclusions in the Py1 and is intergrown with the chalcopyrite. The hessite occurs as irregular inclusions or along the margins of the Py2, and it coexists with the gold and galena. The tellurium fugacity continually decreased from stage I (log fTe2 = −8.8 to −10.7) to stage III (log fTe2 = −13.8 to −17.0). The sulfur fugacity increased from stage I (log fS2 = −8.6 to −11.4) to stage II (log fS2 = −7.2 to −11.4), and then, it decreased from stage II to stage III (log fS2 = −9.8 to −13.0). These data indicate the conditions of the gold precipitation during the ore formation process. A detailed study of gold distribution in texturally different pyrite and the paragenetic association of tellurides provide valuable information on the distribution pattern of gold and in understanding the processes of gold deposition and evolution. Reconstructing the growth model of the Northeastern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau is of significant importance in understanding its tectonic evolution through time. We present 20 new zircon fission track data on samples collected from the Chakabeishan-Shaliuquan district in the North Qaidam Tectonic Belt (NQTB) to constrain its Mesozoic mineralization and exhumation history. Sample ages and characteristics are differentiated by regional thrust fault systems. The mineralized pegmatite ages with high U concentrations can be divided into two groups of 170–168 Ma and 149–137 Ma, recording exhumation and hydrothermal mineralization events, with average cooling and exhumation rates of 0.074 mm/y and 2.305°C/Ma, respectively. Two ZFT ages groups characterized by low U concentrations at the deposit periphery of 125–106 Ma and 99–80 Ma, respectively, are associated with accelerated cooling and exhumation, with mean values of 7.662°C/Ma and 0.245 mm/y. We suggest that the NQTB was positioned in the high background thermal field in the Triassic, and subsequent tectonic extension resulted in the unroofing, cooling and mineralization of the region. The transition from extensional to contractional deformation in the Cretaceous tectonic setting has reactivated regional thrust fault systems and reset the Jurassic ZFT ages, and this exhumation event was influenced by the closure of the Middle-Tethys and Mongol-Okhotsk Oceans, consistent with the double-sided subduction model. This paper presents an integrated approach involving geophysical and remote sensing datasets in the identification of regions that have undergone hydrothermal alteration in the gold-hosted site of the Ife–Ilesa schist belt. Geophysical methods employed include the aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric data, while the remote sensing involved Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) data. Derivatives such as analytic signal, total horizontal derivative, tilt derivative of the total horizontal derivative, and 3-D Euler deconvolution were applied on the aeromagnetic data for the mapping and delineation of structures guiding migration of hydrothermal and mineralizing fluids in the study area. Radiometric analyses involving K/eTh, Ideal K anomalies deviation (Kd), and F-parameter, including principal component analyses on ASTER to isolate Potassic, Argillic, Propylitic, and Phyllic alteration zones were performed to delineate hydrothermally altered zones. The lineament map showed that the study area is geodynamically active as evident by the presence of deep-seated intersecting structures with depths ranging from 189 to 899 m, principally trending NE–SW, which is an impression of the Pan–African orogeny. The fuzzy gamma operator 0.9 was thereafter used in the integration of aeroradiometric and ASTER data for the hydrothermal alteration map production. Subsequently, five classes ranging from background to very high alteration anomalies were derived using the concentration–area (C–A) fractal model from the hydrothermal alteration map. These classes reveal the pervasive styles of alteration in the study area. The study further revealed the close association of structures, granitoids, hydrothermal alteration, and orogenic gold deposits. Also, the flurry of mining activities in the southern flank of the study coincides with most of the hydrothermally mapped areas with the Prediction–area (P–A) plot showing 78% occurrence of orogenic gold deposits in 22% of the total area explored. This translates to high potential of orogenic gold mineralization in the study area. The study therefore concluded based on the validation result that hydrothermal alteration mapping is important in the mapping of orogenic gold deposit. Hence, unexplored areas particularly in the western and eastern flank of the study area where there are strong indications of hydrothermal alteration have good prospect for gold mineralization. Invisible gold hosted by pyrite represents a large proportion of gold resources worldwide. Gold is enriched in pyrite relative to hydrothermal fluids by five orders of magnitude, but controls on the hyperenrichment of gold in pyrite remain unclear. Here, we present the first micrometer- to nanometer-scale evidence for a colloidal iron sulfide phase that forms a precursor to pyrite and shows a remarkable capacity to scavenge gold from ore fluid. In chalcedony cement of breccia ores from the world-class Daqiao epizonal orogenic gold deposit, China, we find that numerous iron sulfide colloids, together with silica colloids and amorphous carbonaceous matter, formed from a highly supersaturated ore fluid in response to rapid fluid depressurization. Mechanisms that favor gold incorporation into iron sulfide colloids include large specific surface areas, abundant structure defects, negatively charged surfaces, high reactivity, and sequestration by silica colloids. These iron sulfide colloids subsequently aggregated and transformed to spherical cryptocrystalline pyrite aggregates. This process may be common during hydrothermal gold mineralization. Co-precipitation of amorphous carbonaceous matter plausibly enhanced the stability and dispersibility of iron sulfide colloids, facilitated sequestration of iron sulfide by silica, and adsorbed minor amounts of gold. Iron sulfide colloids represent a previously unrecognized mechanism for hyperenrichment of invisible gold in pyrite under rapidly changing and potentially non-equilibrium conditions. The Maoping superlarge germanium-rich lead-zinc deposit is a typical nonmagmatic hydrothermal deposit that is structurally controlled in the Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou lead-zinc polymetallic metallogenic area. The orebodies are distributed in several formations. This paper is based on large-scale alteration mapping combined with porosity and permeability measurements. We delineated the mineralization-alteration zones of different ore-bearing formations, explored the geological significance of porosity and permeability, and proposed prospecting directions. The research results indicate that during the mineralization period, the ore-forming metal fluids migrated from the deep part of the SSW region to the shallow part of the NNE region along the ore-guiding structure (Maoping Fault). Through the ore distribution structure, depressurization boiling occurred in the open space of the NE-trending interlayered sinistral compressive-torsional faults in several ore-bearing formations, resulting in fluid precipitation and the formation of different brecciated hot-melt dolomite lead-zinc mineralization zones. From the orebody to the wallrock, the C2w Formation and D3zg Formation are divided into four different mineralization-alteration zones. Tectonic activity affects the properties, migration, and precipitation of fluids, thereby controlling the alteration characteristics generated during fluid migration and thus changing the porosity and permeability. The porosity and permeability of strata on the NW flank of the anticline are greater than those of strata on the SE flank. On the NW flank, the greater the degree of mineralization-alteration is, the greater the porosity and permeability are, and the porosity of the orebody is lower than that during dolomitization. Finally, we believe that the NW flank of the anticline is an important area for prospecting. The pyrite + striped altered dolomite zone (Zones II-III) in the C2w limestone and the pyrite + strong dolomite zone (Zones II-III) in the D3zg dolomite are important prospecting indicators. This article examines the distribution of minor and trace elements in colorless beryl from the Pashki deposit in Afghanistan. The study found that the lithium content in the beryl from this deposit is higher than in other pegmatites, making it a useful indicator for prospecting lithium-rich pegmatites in the region. The article also discusses the distribution of other elements in the crystal growth zones of beryl, suggesting the presence of sector zoning. Markwelchite, ideally TlPbSbS3, is a new mineral from the hydrothermal deposit of Jas Roux, Hautes-Alpes, France. It occurs as a black anhedral crystal associated closely with protochabournéite. Microhardness measurements (VHN15) gave a mean value of 197 kg/mm2 corresponding to a Mohs hardness of ~3–4. In plane-polarised incident light, markwelchite is grey in colour. Under crossed polars, it is distinctly anisotropic with greyish white to bluish rotation tints, with bright red internal reflections. Reflectance percentages (R min and R max) are: 28.5, 31.5 (471.1 nm); 28.3, 30.7 (548.3 nm); 27.9, 30.3 (586.6 nm); and 27.6, 29.8 (652.3 nm). The mean of 5 electron microprobe spot analyses gave Tl 34.67(45), Pb 31.86(25), Sb 15.06(15), As 2.37(5), S 15.35(20), total 99.31 wt.%, corresponding, on the basis of a total of 6 atoms per formula unit and structural results, to Tl1.063Pb0.964(Sb0.775As0.198)Σ0.973S3.000. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that markwelchite is isotypic with richardsollyite, TlPbAsS3. It is monoclinic, space group P 21/ c , with the following unit-cell parameters: a = 8.9144(3), b = 8.4513(3), c = 8.6511(3) Å, β = 108.723(4)°, V = 617.27(4) Å3 and Z = 4. The five strongest observed powder-diffraction lines [ d in Å (I rel)(hkl)] are: 3.88 (100)($\bar{2}$ 11); 3.78 (90)(210); 3.29 (90)(102); 2.73 (85)($\bar{1}$ 13); and 2.93 (75)(022). The crystal structure can be described as formed by (100) [ Me 2(Sb S3)]– layers sandwiching the Me 1+ cations. The Me 1 site has a seven-fold coordination, whereas the Me 2 site has an 6+2 coordination corresponding to a distorted, bicapped trigonal prismatic coordination, and the Sb site displays a trigonal pyramidal coordination with three S atoms and Sb at the apex. The name markwelchite honours Dr Mark D. Welch of the Natural History Museum, London, UK. The Wutonggou iron deposit is located in the well-known iron metallogenic belt in the eastern Tianshan, NW China, and has been regarded as a sedimentary iron deposit. Although hydrothermal overprinting could play indispensable roles in the formation of high-grade iron ores in sedimentary iron deposits, previous studies mainly focused on sedimentary-related iron mineralization, while the nature and contribution of hydrothermal fluids are poorly constrained. Accordingly, an integrated study of ore geology, H-O-C isotopes and 40Ar-39Ar dating, is conducted on the Wutonggou deposit, in order to reveal the features, source, and timing of hydrothermal mineralization. The studied deposit includes two mining sections namely the Jianshan and Wutonggou. The δ18O values of early magnetite from the Jianshan section range from +3.0‰ to +5.8‰ that nearly consistent with classic magmatic magnetite, while increase to 6.3‰–8.0‰ in the late stage. Quartz from the two sections shows comparable H-O isotopic compositions and identical fractionation trends, and is plotted in or periphery to the primary magmatic water area. Calcites from the two sections are broadly similar in carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions, and siderite from the Wutonggou section is plotted in the same region. Thus, comparable stable isotopic compositions and evolution trends indicate similar magmatic fluids contributed hydrothermal iron mineralization in the two mining sections. Moreover, water-rock interactions of varying degrees generated distinct mineralization styles in the Jianshan and Wutonggou sections, and caused the isotopic fractionation in late stages. Biotite extracted from a hydrothermal siderite ore yielded a 40Ar-39Ar plateau age of 299.5 ± 2.0 Ma, indicates the timing of hydrothermal iron mineralization is corresponding to the emplacement of vicinity granitoids. Taken together, the hydrothermal mineralization in the Wutonggou iron deposit was the product of remobilization and upgrading of early sedimentary iron ores, and ore-forming fluids were most probably originated from regional granitic magmatism. Radon (Rn) and helium (He) gases from uranium decay form distinct anomalies related to buried uranium deposits. In order to trace the geochemical anomalous sources from the volcanic-related uranium deposits in deeply buried areas, systematical Rn contents and He isotope ratios were analyzed from the Daguanchang uranium deposit. The soil gas Rn concentrations above the deep uranium are ten times higher than those in barren areas, indicating that instantaneous Rn content measurements can be used to detect deeply buried uranium. The helium isotope ratios (3He/4He) of the unmineralized samples from the mineralized drill hole (ZK1) are relatively lower and uniform compared to those of the samples from no-mineral drill hole (ZK2). However, the Th and U contents of the drill core samples from ZK1 are slightly lower than those of the samples from ZK2, indicating that the lower 3He/4He ratios in ZK1 are most likely due to the addition of 4He from underlying uranium intervals. The differences in the instantaneous Rn contents are consistent with the variations in the He isotope ratios of the drill core samples. These results demonstrate that soil gas Rn and 3He/4He ratios are useful tracers and can indicate the existence of deeply buried volcanic-related hydrothermal uranium ores. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the study of local volumes of minerals using the classical methods of isotope dilution and thermal ionization mass spectrometry (U–Pb ID TIMS), an isotopic study of pitchblende and galena is carried out at the Natali uranium ore occurrence (Northern Transbaikalia). For the first time, it was shown that the pitchblende mineralization at the ore occurrence has a Late Silurian (422 ± 4 Ma) age. Its formation is related to the Early–Middle Paleozoic collisional tectogenesis in the area of the Tonod uplift, accompanied by increased fluid activity. The Pb isotopic composition analysis in galena associated with pitchblende show that galena is enriched in radiogenic isotopes 206Pb and 207Pb, a source of which was ancient (Precambrian) concentrations of uranium. Platinum-group elements (PGEs) have a strong affinity for sulfur and tend to accumulate in the deep continental crust, either concentrated within magmatic Cu-Ni-PGE deposits or dispersed throughout disseminated sulfides. However, PGE enrichment in shallow magmatic-hydrothermal systems implies an obscure link to deep sulfide destabilization, which releases PGEs into ore-forming fluids. To bridge this gap, our study investigates the PGE composition of magmatic sulfides with oxidative textures in dacitic rocks from the southwestern Okinawa Trough. We identified three groups of magmatic sulfides, primarily precipitated as Cu-poor monosulfide solid solution (MSS), which formed at distinct stages of magma evolution from deep to shallow crustal levels. Group A sulfides manifest as small-sized inclusions (<30 μm) within most high-Mg olivines, whereas Group B and C sulfides are larger (50–500 μm) and occur within cognate xenoliths of mafic cumulate rocks and the groundmass of host dacites. Group B and C sulfides exhibit distinct oxidative textures and newly-formed mineral assemblages, including magnetite, hematite, goethite, and magnetite ± pyrite, alongside hydrothermal silicate minerals, respectively. We attribute the oxidation process to the infiltration of orthomagmatic fluids exsolved from mafic magma that had underplated the sulfide-bearing felsic magma reservoir, which was nearly solidified. By comparing the chemical compositions between pristine sulfides and their oxidative remnants, we observed extensive mobilization of Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Ni, and Co from the altered sulfides of Group B, while Au enrichment occurred as nanoparticles under high oxidation states. In contrast, Au was extracted along with other mobile metals from the altered sulfides of Group C, with Pt remaining in place under more reduced conditions. These distinct scenarios may lead to the formation of PGE-rich and Au-rich fluids, respectively. The formation of deep crustal MSS and subsequent hydrothermal oxidation under varying redox conditions thus provides a viable mechanism for trans -crustal PGE mobilization and inter-element fractionation, typical of PGE-rich magmatic-hydrothermal deposits. The subduction-related Sunda-Banda arc hosts several giant and major Cu–Au–Mo porphyry and epithermal Au systems, making it one of the most important magmatic-related metallogenic belts in Indonesia. They are accompanied by a number of smaller systems, one of which is the recently discovered Randu-Kuning porphyry Cu-Au deposit on Java Island. The present study investigates the geochemical characteristics of this deposit through whole-rock and mineral geochemistry and mineral geothermobarometry, focusing on three sequential dioritic intrusions that make up the host igneous complex, two barren and the third mineralized. Moreover, a comparative analysis is performed between other porphyry deposits in the Sunda-Banda arc and with Grasberg in Papua. This study shows that the older porphyry deposits have mostly similar geochemical characteristics to the younger deposits, suggesting the same magma source, which is mantle-derived oxidized I-type magma. Amphibole geothermobarometry shows that the formation of syn-ore intrusion in the older porphyry was higher in temperature and pressure than those at the younger porphyry. The halogen and oxygen fugacities inferred from biotite and amphibole chemistry indicate an oxidized, water- and halogen-rich melt. Our study shows that combining amphibole and biotite chemistry and whole-rock geochemical data is useful to fingerprint the magmatic-hydrothermal processes, especially where multiple magmatic phases occur. Hydrothermal disseminated gold mineralization in the Sanshandao gold belt, Jiaodong Peninsula, China, is closely associated with regional NE–NNE fault zones. To investigate the structural controls on this mineralization, we conducted 3D numerical modeling of coupled heat transport, tectonic deformation, and fluid flow, of which two sets of models, designed simple models and actual models, were involved. The simple models were used to examine how general fault geometries (fault bend length, fault bend angle, and fault dip) influenced dilation (positive volume strain) and fluid flow and further influenced hydrothermal mineralization. In contrast, actual modeling was carried out to further understand the structural controls and mineralization localization in a specific geological condition at Sanshandao. Following this, numerical simulation experiments with variable paleo-stresses on these two models were carried out in FLAC3D platform. The simulation results of the simple models showed that long fault bend lengths, large absolute fault bend angles, and large changes in fault dip were more likely to promote dilation in the fault zone. The dilation zones are related to the small intersection angle of maximum principal stress and fault dip. The simulation results of the actual model illustrate that the gold mineralization distribution at Sanshandao was controlled by the coupling of fault strike–dip bends. Specifically, the discontinuous mineralization in the vertical direction was caused by local fluid focusing due to fault dip changes, particularly where the bend length was long. In addition, the oblique orientation of ore shooting depended on the variable strain orientations relative to the fault, which appeared to be fault strike variations. The results further determined the NNW–SSE-directed compression as the paleo-stress regime at Sanshandao during the ore-forming period. Our data also illustrated the deep fluid flow pathways in the Sanshandao gold belt and the Xinli S–SSE deep and the Sanshandao and Beibuhaiyu E–NE deep areas deserve to be the focus of the next gold exploration. This paper compares three unsupervised machine-learning algorithms – local outlier factor (LOF), Isolation Forest (iForest) and one-class support vector machine (OCSVM) – for anomaly detection in a multivariate geochemical dataset in northeastern Iran. This area contains several Au, Cu and Pb–Zn mineral occurrences. The methodology incorporates single-element geochemistry, multivariate data analysis and application of the three unsupervised machine-learning algorithms. Principal component analysis unveiled diverse elemental associations for the first seven principal components (PCs): PC1 shows a Co–Cr–Ni–V–Sn association indicating a lithological influence; PC2 shows a Au–Bi–Cu–W association suggesting epithermal Au mineralization; PC3 shows variability in Zn–V–Co–Sb–Cu–Cr; PC4 shows a Au–Cu–Ba–Sr–Ag association indicating Au and polymetallic mineralization; PC5 reflects Zn–Ag–Ni–Pb related to hydrothermal mineralization; and PC6 and PC7 show element associations suggesting epithermal and intrusive-related polymetallic mineralization. It was found that OCSVM performed slightly better than LOF and iForest in detecting anomalies associated with known Cu occurrences, and it successfully delineated dispersion from all known Au occurrences. LOF outperformed iForest and OCSVM in identifying all four Pb–Zn occurrences, and the three methods substantially limited the areas of the anomaly class. The analysis showed that LOF produced a less cluttered anomaly map compared to the isolated patterns in the iForest map. LOF was accurate in identifying anomalies associated with Au–Pb mineralization, while iForest detected anomalies associated with Pb–Zn–Cu occurrences and neighbouring Pb–Zn occurrence. OCSVM performed similarly in the northern and western areas but displayed unique discrepancies in the SE and west by detecting anomalies associated with two Cu occurrences and a Pb–Cu occurrence. This study examined the influence of contamination fraction on detection of geochemical anomalies, revealing a noteworthy rise in the count of mineral occurrences delineated by anomalies when the contamination fraction increases from 5 to 10%. However, even with a 35% contamination fraction, some Cu occurrences remained outside the anomaly category, indicating potentially overlooked geochemical signals from mineral occurrences due to sampling schemes. Wastewater treatment is inevitably required to alleviate the pollution of water resources by various contaminants such as antibiotics. MOFs are novel materials with photocatalytic activities. In this study, sonophotocatalytic degradation of tetracycline (TC) by the Cerium-based MOF (Ce-MOF) is optimized by modification of its synthesis route. Ce-MOF synthesis by room temperature (RT), hydrothermal (HT), and sonochemical synthesis (SC) are studied. TC degradation experiments revealed the superiority of SC synthesis. The interplay of main synthesis parameters, namely, initial ligand concentration, ultrasound (US) power and time on sonophotocatalytic activity of Ce-MOF, were investigated by response surface methodology model (RSM) utilizing the central composite experimental design (CCD). The optimum SC synthesis conditions are an initial ligand concentration of 8.4 mmol/L, a sonication power of 50 amplitude, and a US time of 60 min. The optimally synthesized Ce-MOF was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, zeta potential analysis, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, particle size analysis, Mott-Schottky analysis, photocurrent analysis, electrochemical impedance spectra, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The findings indicate that the removal efficiency of TC can reach up to 81.75% within 120 min in an aqueous solution containing an initial TC concentration of 120 ppm and 1 g/L Ce-MOF at pH of 7. Mineralization efficiency of the process is 71% according to COD measurements. Supercritical water provides distinctly different solvation properties compared to what is known from liquid water. Despite its prevalence deep in the Earth's crust and its role in chemosynthetic ecosystems in the vicinity of hydrothermal vents, molecular insights into its solvation mechanisms are still very scarce compared to what is known for liquid water. Recently, neutral metal particles have been detected in hydrothermal fluids and proposed to explain the transport of gold species to ore deposits on Earth. Using ab initio molecular dynamics, we elucidate the solvation properties of small gold species at supercritical conditions. The neutral metal clusters themselves contribute enormous THz intensity not because of their intramolecular vibrations, but due to their pronounced electronic polarization coupling to the dynamical supercritical solvent, leading to a continuum absorption up to about 1000 cm−1. On top, long‐lived interactions between the gold clusters and solvation water leads at these supercritical conditions to a sharp THz resonance that happens to be close to the one due to H‐bonding in liquid water at ambient conditions. The discovery of the Luming deposit was accomplished through verification of stream sediment anomalies, with mineralization closely associated with early Jurassic monzogranite and granite porphyry. Previous studies primarily focused on the mineralization mechanisms of these deposits without adequately addressing the exploration methods and prospecting criteria. This study involved a comprehensive re-evaluation of geological observations, analysis of rock primary halo, gravity and magnetic surveys, and induced polarization surveys conducted during exploration campaigns at the Luming porphyry Mo deposit. The results suggest that hydrothermal breccias play a critical role in controlling the mineralization by forming a central low-grade core within the deposit while the Mo mineralization and hydrothermal alteration exhibit a donut-shaped distribution around it. The primary halo shows a distinct metal zonation moving from a central W-Bi-Mo-(Sb) to a peripheral Cu-Co-Ni and a distal Pb-Zn-Ag-In. The mineralization zone exhibits a low Bouguer gravity anomaly, negative magnetic anomaly, medium to low resistivity, and moderate to high chargeability, indicating the effectiveness of geophysical methods in defining the extent of the ore body. The Luming porphyry Mo deposit and distal skarn-epithermal Pb-Zn mineralization are parts of a porphyry-related magmatic-hydrothermal system. The Youjiang metallogenic province (YMP) is a famous ore-concentrating area in South China, known for its substantial Carlin-type gold deposits, antimony deposits, and mercury deposits. Previous studies have yielded conflicting views regarding the ages of mineralization in this area, particularly regarding the occurrence of Yanshanian versus Indosinian ore-forming events during the Mesozoic era. To resolve these discrepancies, this study utilized in situ LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating on carbonate minerals from the Lannigou Carlin-type Au deposit, the Lanmuchang Hg-(Tl) deposit, and the Sixiangchang Hg deposit to accurately determine their mineralization ages. Our results indicate that the three deposits formed at 137 ± 9 Ma, ~97 Ma, and 454 ± 21 Ma, respectively. By integrating previously reported geochronological data, we propose that the low-temperature Au-As-Sb-Hg-Tl deposits in the YMP were formed during two major periods, Late Triassic and Late Jurassic to Cretaceous, with the latter being more prevalent. Additionally, there was a Paleozoic hydrothermal mercury mineralization event at the northeastern edge of this region. These newly acquired data significantly enhance our understanding of multistage, low-temperature mineralization events in the YMP. Iran hosts more than 350 Precambrian to Cenozoic sediment-hosted Zn-Pb±Ba and barite-sulfide deposits, including shale-hosted massive sulfide (SHMS, also called SEDEX) and Irish-type and Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) mineralization, and barite is a common mineral in these deposits. In the SHMS deposits, barite is typically found as fine-grained disseminations in thin laminae. In these deposits, the sulfide laminae often occur as diagenetic replacements and as bands containing authigenic and diagenetic barite and pyrite framboids. In the Irish-type Zn-Pb-Ba and stratabound barite-sulfide deposits, barite exhibits various textures, including fine-grained disseminated barite, banded zebra textures, veins, and massive barite lenses. In some of the giant Irish-type deposits, as well as in the stratabound barite-sulfide mineralization, the main stratabound sulfide ore is developed within a barite envelope and is characterized by the replacement of barite and pyrite by chalcopyrite, galena, and sphalerite. In the MVT deposits, the formation of barite is often related to dolomitization, and sulfide mineralization involves the replacement of the dolomitized carbonate rocks, as well as associated barite. Fluid inclusion studies on the Irish-type deposits indicate that the temperatures and salinities of the sulfide-forming fluids are higher compared to those of the barite-forming fluids. Fluid inclusion analyses of coarse-grained barites from Irish and MVT deposits reveal their hydrothermal origin. The δ3⁴S values of sulfide minerals (pyrite, sphalerite, and galena) in Irish-type deposits exhibit a broad range of low values (mostly −28 to +5‰), primarily revealing a process of bacterial sulfate reduction (BSR). However, the textures (replacement, colloform, and banded) and more positive sulfur isotope values (+1 to +36‰) in the SHMS Zn-Pb deposits suggest that bacterial sulfate reduction (BSR) plays a less significant role. We suggest that thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) connected to the direct replacement of barite plays a more relevant role in providing sulfur for the sulfide mineralization in the SHMS, barite-sulfide, and MVT deposits. Based on the textual evidence, sulfur isotopic data, and fluid inclusion studies, barite has been identified as a key controller for the subsequent Zn-Pb mineralization by providing a suitable host and significant sulfur contribution in the sediment-hosted Zn-Pb and stratabound barite-sulfide deposits. The combination of one-dimensional carbon nanotubes and two-dimensional transition metal carbon/nitride (MXene), using the electrochemical deposition method and the hydrothermal method to deposit manganese dioxide (MnO2) on the surface of the composite fiber. The results indicated that the fiber supercapacitor deposited by electrochemical deposition has a higher volumetric specific capacitance than the fiber supercapacitor deposited by hydrothermal method. The specific capacitance at a current density of 1 A/cm³ is about 97.5 F/cm³. After 2 500 cycles of charging and discharging, its final capacitance retention rate is about 74.5% of the original. Sassoon docks is one of the oldest docks in Mumbai. It is one of the largest fish landing site in Mumbai. The dock gets untreated waste water and deteriorates the quality of seawater near the fish landing base. The dock is stench prominently emanated from the decayed fish and mishandled fish waste of shell fishes like prawns and shrimps. It is still active first wet docks. Heavy metals are found naturally which have high density and atomic weight. The heavy metal gets released through various agricultural industries, factories which cause severe effect on environment and as well as on organisms present in it. This can lead to multiple organ damage of organisms present in water. Heavy metals became strongly toxic as it gets mixed with water, soil. The microbial analysis of water can be determined through the present concentration of Escherichia coli, Coliforms. The bacterial count should not exceed more than 80 per 100 ml in sea water. The observed value is between 26 × 10³- 15 × 10³, 8.8 × 10³ _ 6.4 × 10³, 8.2 × 10³ _ 6.0 × 10³ for Total Bacterial Count, Coliforms, E.- Coli respectively. The bacterial count should be zero in any water. The observed value is much higher than the permissible limit which is due to the contamination and cause severe ill effects on marine organism and human as well as. The heavy metal get trapped in water due to release of industrial waste in the water. For different metals normal range differ from 0.001 to 0.1ml Excess presence of heavy metals deteriorate the various physiological processes. The Lead and Iron shows higher value i.e. 0.1 and 3.226, respectively. The heavy metals cause carcinogenic, tetragenic and mutagenic effects on organisms present in water. The three main source of dissolved iron sources are: sediments dissolution along continental margins, dust from the atmosphere and fluids from hydrothermal vents. The estimation of the degree of tectonic fragmentation for upper lithosphere following the method of Yu.V. Nechaev (2010) is based on calculations of specific lineament lengths. We used data for three regions—Northwest Caucasus, the Voronezh Anteclise, and the Malko–Petropavlovsk zone in Kamchatka—to test whether other morphometric parameters could be used: specific lengths of "weak" zones, elongation lines and water streams, as well as relief curvature. Their anomalies are confined to seismic areas and to areas of hydrothermal and magmatic activity. We show that the most information is provided by 3D models of tectonic fragmentation that incorporate specific lengths of "weak" zones and water stream lengths. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Wangjiazhuang Cu (‐Mo) deposit, located within the Zouping volcanic basin in western Shandong Province, China, is unique in this area for having an economic value. In order to expound the metallogenetic characteristics of this porphyry‐like hydrothermal deposit, a detailed fluid inclusion study has been conducted, employing the techniques of representative sampling, fluid inclusion petrography, microthermometry, Raman spectroscopy, LA‐ICP‐MS analysis of single fluid inclusions, as well as cathode fluorescence spectrometer analysis of host mineral quartz. The deposit contains mainly two types of orebodies, i.e. veinlet‐dissemination‐stockwork orebodies in the K‐Si alteration zone and pegmatitic‐quartz sulfide veins above them. In addition, minor breccia ore occurs locally. Four types of fluid inclusions in the deposit and altered quartz monzonite are identified: L‐type one‐ or two‐phase aqueous inclusions, V‐type vapor‐rich inclusions with V/L ratios greater than 50%–90%, D‐type multiphase fluid inclusions containing daughter minerals or solids and S‐type silicate‐bearing fluid inclusions containing mainly muscovite and biotite. Ore petrography and fluid inclusion study has revealed a three‐stage mineralization process, driven by magmatic‐hydrothermal fluid activity, as follows. Initially, a hydrothermal fluid, separated from the parent magma, infiltrated into the quartz monzonite, resulting in its extensive K‐Si alteration, as indicated by silicate‐bearing fluid inclusions trapped in altered quartz monzonite. This is followed by the early mineralization, the formation of quartz veinlets and dissemination‐stockwork ores. During the main mineralization stage, due to the participation and mixing of meteoric groundwater with magmatic‐sourced hydrothermal fluid, the cooling and phase separation caused deposition of metals from the hydrothermal fluids. As a result, the pegmatitic‐quartz sulfide‐vein ores formed. In the late mineralization stage, decreasing fluid salinity led to the formation of L‐type aqueous inclusions and chalcopyrite‐sulfosalt ore. Coexistence of V‐type and D‐type inclusions and their similar homogenization temperatures with different homogenization modes suggest that phase separation or boiling of the ore‐forming fluids took place during the early and the main mineralization stages. The formation P‐T conditions of S‐type inclusions and the early and the main mineralization stages were estimated as ca. 156–182 MPa and 450–650°C, 350–450°C, 18–35 MPa and 280–380°C, 8–15 MPa, respectively, based on the microthermometric data of the fluid inclusions formed at the individual stages. The recently discovered Fåvne vent field, located at 3,040 m depth on the slow‐spreading Mohns mid‐ocean ridge between Greenland and Norway, is a high‐temperature (≥250°C) vent field that is characterized by Fe oxyhydroxide‐rich and S‐poor chimneys and mounds. The vent field is located on both the hanging wall and footwall of a normal fault with a ∼1.5 km throw that forms the western edge of the ∼20 km wide ridge axial valley. Data collected during exploration of the site using a remotely operated vehicle as well as mineralogical and geochemical analyses of rock samples and sediments are used to characterize the geological setting of the vent field and composition of the hydrothermal deposits. The chimney walls are highly porous and lack defined chalcopyrite lined conduits, typical of high‐temperature chimneys. Overall, abundant Fe oxyhydroxide precipitation at high‐temperature vents at Fåvne reflects an excess of Fe over reduced S in the fluid, leading to precipitation of Fe oxide and oxyhydroxide minerals at high to moderate temperature vents (>100°C), and as microbially mediated and abiotic precipitation of Fe oxyhydroxide minerals at low‐temperature diffuse vents (<100°C). The mounds and chimneys exhibit low base metal and reduced S concentrations relative to globally averaged seafloor deposits and suggest subseafloor mixing of hydrothermal fluid with seawater, causing metal sulfide precipitation. Cobalt enrichment at Fåvne may reflect a subsurface influence of an ultramafic substrate on circulating fluids, although ultramafic rocks are absent on the seafloor and no other elements typical of ultramafic deposits are present. Plain Language Summary: Seafloor hydrothermal deposits are mineral deposits formed from seawater penetrating the oceanic crust and becoming enriched in metals by leaching the surrounding rocks as the temperature rises close to a heat source. Once heated, the fluid rises back to the seafloor where it comes into contact with cold seawater and the metals precipitate, forming chimneys and mounds. The minerals and metal concentrations record temperatures of formation and environments, and can help us understand the processes associated with plate tectonics and the formation of ore deposits. Using underwater vehicles, we collected rocks and sediments from the Fåvne vent field and measured the temperature of the chimneys, mounds, and surrounding seafloor to understand how these deposits form on the seafloor. The Fåvne vent field differs from other vent fields because it is enriched in iron‐rich‐minerals and depleted in sulfur‐rich‐minerals. The dominance of iron‐rich minerals and the abundance of fractures in the seafloor at the vent field suggest that the hydrothermal fluid is cooled by seawater percolating along the fractures, accumulating these metals in the subsurface instead of at the seafloor. This process is important for understanding the current land‐based mineral deposits being mined today and for the exploration of seafloor mineral deposits. Hydrothermal units are characterized by the emergence of several large-flow thermo-mineral springs (griffons), each with varying temperature and physico-chemical characteristics depending on the point of emergence. It seems, however, that there is variability between the different systems, although it is not easy to characterize it because the variability within each system is high. The regional dimension of the chemical composition of thermal waters is, therefore, an aspect that has received very little attention in the literature due to the lack of access to the deep reservoir. In this study, we investigated the spatial variability, on a regional scale, in the characteristics of thermal waters in northeastern Algeria, and more specifically the hydrothermal systems of Guelma, Souk Ahras, Khenchela and Tébessa. Thirty-two hot water samples were taken between December 2018 and October 2019, including five samples of low-temperature mineral spring water. Standard physico-chemical parameters, major anions and cations and lithium were analyzed. The data were log-transformed data and processed via principal component analysis, discriminant analysis and unsupervised classification. The results show that thermal waters are the result of a mixture of hot waters, whose chemical profile has a certain local character, and contaminated by cold surface waters. These surface waters may also have several chemical profiles depending on the location. In addition to the internal variability in each resource, there are differences in water quality between these different hydrothermal systems. The Guelma region differs the most from the other thermal regions studied, with a specific calcic sulfate chemical profile. This study unveils new considerations regarding the dolomitization of the Bekhme and Qamchuqa formations (BQFs), two reefal Cretaceous units in the Iraqi Zagros collisional belt. Previous studies proposed the dolomitization of these formations due to the ascent of Mg-rich hydrothermal solutions through deep faults but lacked substantial supporting evidence. This paper present new considerations suggesting that the dolomitization of the BQFs resulted from the Cretaceous environmental conditions and basin paleogeographic setting of the platform on which these formations were deposited. To justify this consideration, seven proofs presented. First is the occurrence of dolomite as vast layers extending tens of kilometers laterally and bounded between limestone beds, which resemble a strata-bound occurrence. Second is the absence of vertical selective dolomitization such as, hydrothermal mineralization, vertical dolomite dykes, hydrothermal vents, tubes, or zones. Third is the barrenness of most of the fault surfaces and their surrounding rocks with selective dolomitization. Fourth is the sharp boundary between the dolomite and limestone layers, indicating a sudden environmental change from lagoon to reef or forereef. Fifth is the record of dolomitization in the sediments reworked by bioturbation, evident in thalassinoides burrows. Sixth is the succession of BQFs underlain by limestone and green marl devoid of dolomitization and hydrothermal upward movement. Seventh is the contradictory notion of hydrothermal dolomitization among the most recent study published in the Science journal which attributed dolomitization to normal temperate on earth surface. In the present study, the source of the Mg is argued, and its presence is attributed to the warmth of the Arabian platform (plate) near the equator during the Cretaceous period. Another source is the connection of the Arabian platform with the Neo-Tethys Sea, which was the locus of Mg-rich mafic volcanism in the form of arcs and mid-oceanic ridge topography, which supplied a voluminous amount of Mg to the Arabian carbonate platform through ocean currents. Developing photocatalytic nanomaterials with unique physical and chemical features using low-cost and eco-friendly synthetic methods is highly desirable in wastewater treatment. In this work, the magnetically separable α-Fe2O3-CeO2 nanocomposite (NC), with its respective metal oxides of α-Fe2O3 and CeO2 nanoparticles, was synthesized using a combination of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CATB) and ascorbic acid via the hydrothermal method. To tune the band gap, the heterojunction nanocomposite of α-Fe2O3-CeO2 was decorated with plasmonic Au nanoparticles (Au NPs). The various characterization methods, such as FTIR, UV-vis DRS, XRD, XPS, TEM, EDX, SEM, and PL, were used to determine the properties of the materials, including their morphology, elemental composition, optical properties, band gap energy, and crystalline phase. The nanocomposite of α-Fe2O3-CeO2@Au was utilized to remove Rose Bengal (RB) dye from wastewater using a photocatalytic technique when exposed to visible light. A comprehensive investigation of the impact of the catalyst concentration and initial dye concentration was conducted to establish the optimal photodegradation conditions. The maximum photocatalytic efficiency of α-Fe2O3-CeO2@Au (50 mg L−1) for RB (20 ppm) dye removal was found to be 88.9% in 120 min under visible-light irradiation at a neutral pH of 7 and 30 °C. Various scavengers, such as benzoquinone (BQ; 0.5 mM), tert-butyl alcohol (TBA; 0.5 mM), and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA; 0.5 mM), were used to investigate the effects of different free radicals on the photocatalytic process. Furthermore, the reusability of the α-Fe2O3-CeO2@Au photocatalyst has also been explored. Furthermore, the investigation of the potential mechanism demonstrated that the heterojunction formed between α-Fe2O3 and CeO2, in combination with the presence of deposited Au NPs, led to an enhanced photocatalytic efficiency by effectively separating the photogenerated electron (e−)–hole (h+) pairs. Metallogenic models of polyphase mountain belts critically rely on robust geochronology. We combine petrology with Rb--Sr and U--Th--Pb in situ geochronology, paired at thin-section scale, to date mineralization in deformed hydrothermal Pb--Zn--Ag deposits along an east-west transect in the Western Alps, France. The Pb--Zn--Ag veins occur in shear zones with kinematic structures consistent with the mylonitized host rocks. The ore consists mainly of galena in a quartz-phengite gangue. The paragenesis can be related to hydrothermal crystallization during periods of variable strain. Both isotope systems yield only Cenozoic ages (ca. 35 Ma and 15-20 Ma) without any pre-Alpine inheritance, clearly indicating orogenic mineralization. To separate oil–water mixtures especially in oil field operations, new energy-efficient methods are urgently required. Conventional separation techniques using demulsifiers for separation of oil–water mixtures or even use of membranes usually suffered from high cost and energy consumption, composition dependency of demulsifiers and fouling or inability of a single membrane to separate all types of oil–water mixtures. This research aimed to synthesize tungsten oxide-coated stainless steel mesh using the hydrothermal method, with a focus on evaluating its effectiveness in oil–water separation. The coating procedure was carried out using hydrothermal techniques, with an emphasis on investigating the impact of precursor concentration, pH levels, reaction temperature and duration, on the separation efficiency of the optimal coating solution. The hydrothermally coated stainless steel mesh was created within a polytetrafluoroethylene reaction vessel, submerged in a 150 ml aqueous solution containing 0.0094 mol of sodium tungstate di-hydrate at pH 3.0, achieved through the addition of hydrochloric acid. Additionally, 1 g of oxalic acid, acting as a chelating agent, was introduced. Subsequently, the mesh underwent a 4 h reaction at 220 °C and was subsequently annealed for 30 min in a 350 °C furnace. Remarkably, the resultant mesh exhibited an exceptional water separation flux of 9870 ± 15 L/hr/m2 when exposed to 1:1 v/v oil–water mixtures. This performance significantly outperformed previous filters designed for similar oil–water separation tasks. The mesh efficiently facilitated the passage of water through the oil–water mixture, achieving an efficiency rate exceeding 98 ± 1%. To gauge its wetting behavior, the hydrophilic/underwater oleophobic filter underwent static contact angle measurements. The filter's wetting mechanism was primarily attributed to its hierarchical surface structure, which enhanced surface hydrophilicity and roughness. Analytical techniques such as XRD, FTIR, and FE-SEM were employed to scrutinize the fabricated filter's composition. These analyses confirmed the successful creation of a nanostructured WO3 coating on both sides of the stainless steel mesh. Moreover, the utilization of commercially available chemicals and straightforward fabrication techniques underscores the promising potential of this approach for large-scale applications.
