Nano‐sized bivalent metal complexes, specifically [M(L)2] with L = 2‐((E)‐((4,5‐dimethyl‐2‐(((E)‐4‐methylbenzylidene)amino)phenyl)‐imino)methyl)benzenethiol] (C23H22N2S) and M = Cu (II) (C1), Co (II) (C2), Ni (II) (C3), and Zn (II) (C4), underwent synthesis and subsequent characterization. Elemental analyses, infrared, NMR, mass, electronic, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity assessments, and X‐ray diffraction studies were used to assess our bivalent metal complexes. DFT studies were used to study the tautomeric equilibrium of the tridentate thio‐Schiff base ligand (HL), via the DFT\B3LYP method in connection with a 6–311G* correlation consistent basis set. Two tautomers, which are thione and thiol forms, were studied to estimate the predominant one. The metal formed four coordinated with the tridentate N2S donor thio‐Schiff base to form octahedral geometry complexes. The SEM, TEM, XRD, AFM, and EDX of the studied complexes unveiled distinct and strong diffraction peaks, signifying their crystalline nature and providing evidence of their particle sizes being within the nano‐size. The crystal sizes calculated for all complexes were determined to be ranging from 27.73 to 76.39 nm. The interactions between metal complexes and calf thymus DNA, and their potential for mimicking insulin activity, were investigated in a controlled lab setting by measuring their ability to inhibit alpha‐amylase. The antimicrobial potential of thio‐Schiff base ligand (HL) plus complexes (C1–C4) were tested. The viscosity and UV–Vis absorption determinations were utilized to assess the calf thymus DNA (CT‐DNA) interaction with the nano‐sized metal (II) chelates. The shortage of fossil fuels and global warming are the two main issues facing the world today and these can be overcome by the usage of H2 as a sustainable energy. The study's primary objective is to fabricate an efficient electrocatalyst for electrochemical water splitting. This study uses CuS, Ni-doped CuS and Ni/CuS/S-g-C3N4 (NCS/SCN) composites for the electrochemical water-splitting. NCS/SCN composites were produced via the co-precipitation method with different S-g-C3N4 contents (10, 30, 50, 70, and 90 wt.%) to study the impact of S-g-C3N4 on the electrochemical water splitting performance of NCS. Characterization techniques SEM, EDX, FTIR, and XRD evaluated the electrocatalysts' size, shape, and morphology. Electrochemical studies were performed employing a three-electrode system using KOH as the electrolyte. Results from LSV, CV, and EIS show that the development of composite material NCS/SCN enhances the electrocatalytic water-splitting activity of NCS in 1 M KOH solution. Results show that NCS/50%SCN exhibits the best OER and HER and thus can be utilized as a commercial electrocatalyzer for water splitting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study addresses the hydrogen storage capabilities and mechanical, optoelectronic, and thermoelectric features of double perovskite hydrides A 2 FeH 6 (A = Be, Mg). The structural aspects suggest the cubic symmetry of studied hydrides. The formation enthalpy value calculation has confirmed the structures' thermal stability. The gravimetric ratios of Be 2 FeH 6 and Mg 2 FeH 6 hydrides are 7.50 wt% and 5.43 wt%, respectively. The desorption temperatures are predicted to be 230.32 K and 208.67 K, respectively. The mechanical and thermophysical characteristics have been elaborated, which demonstrate mechanical stability, higher stiffness, ductile behavior, and higher temperature stability of both materials. The examined electronic properties have revealed band gap values of 2.89 and 3.08 eV, respectively. The optical properties have been assessed to predict the appropriateness of these hydrides for deployment in photovoltaic systems. The thermoelectric characteristics have been evaluated to examine the carrier transport mechanism and efficiency for converting heat into electricity. Finally, the investigated properties and hydrogen storage capacity of these compounds suggest that they are suitable for hydrogen storage and have the potential to play a key role in many energy generation applications. Featured Application: The silent threat from the release of antimicrobial resistant genes into the environment from hospital and municipal sources, which is going unnoticed, and the existing techniques for remediation of ARG polluted waters have been highlighted. Additionally, prospective nano-based applications have been suggested. Antibiotic resistance is a major crisis that the modern world is confronting. This review highlights the abundance of different types of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in two major reservoirs in the environment, namely hospital and municipal wastewater, which is an unforeseen threat to human lives across the globe. The review helps understand the current state of affairs and the whereabouts on the dissemination of ARGs in both these environments. The various traditional wastewater treatment methods, such as chlorination and UV treatment, and modern methods, such as electrochemical oxidation, are discussed, and the gaps in these technologies are highlighted. The need for the development of newer techniques for wastewater treatment with enhanced efficiency is urgently underscored. Nanomaterial applications for ARG removal were observed to be less explored. This has been discussed, and prospective nanomaterials and nanocomposites for these applications are proposed. A significant amount of energy can be produced using renewable energy sources; however, storing massive amounts of energy poses a substantial obstacle to energy production. Economic crisis has led to rapid developments in electrochemical (EC) energy storage devices (EESDs), especially rechargeable batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors (SCs), which are effective for energy storage systems. Researchers have lately suggested that among the various EESDs, the SC is an effective alternate for energy storage due to the presence of the following characteristics: SCs offer high-power density (PD), improvable energy density (ED), fast charging/discharging, and good cyclic stability. This review highlighted and analyzed the concepts of supercapacitors and types of supercapacitors on the basis of electrode materials, highlighted the several feasible synthesis processes for preparation of metal oxide (MO) nanoparticles, and discussed the morphological effects of MOs on the electrochemical performance of the devices. In this review, we primarily focus on pseudo-capacitors for SCs, which mainly contain MOs and their composite materials, and also highlight their future possibilities as a useful application of MO-based materials in supercapacitors. The novelty of MO's electrode materials is primarily due to the presence of synergistic effects in the hybrid materials, rich redox activity, excellent conductivity, and chemical stability, making them excellent for SC applications. This review article discusses the recent progress in synthesizing seven-membered ring 1,3,5-triazepine and benzo[f][1,3,5]triazepine derivatives. These derivatives can be either unsaturated, saturated, fused, or separated. This review covers strategies and procedures developed over the past two decades, including cyclo-condensation, cyclization, methylation, chlorination, alkylation, addition, cross-coupling, ring expansions, and ring-closing metathesis. This review discusses the synthesis of 1,3,5-triazepine derivatives using nucleophilic or electrophilic substitution reactions with various reagents such as o-phenylenediamine, 2-aminobenzamide, isothiocyanates, pyrazoles, thiazoles, oxadiazoles, oxadiazepines, and hydrazonoyl chloride. This article systematically presents new approaches and techniques for preparing these compounds. It also highlights the biological importance of benzo[f][1,3,5]triazepine derivatives, which have been used as drugs for treating nervous system diseases. The synthesis of a photo-catalyst with a narrow bandgap and efficient capability to degrade contaminants in the presence of sunlight is currently challenging but exciting. In this work, an efficient photocatalytic ternary nanocomposite g-C3N4/Cu@CdS has been synthesized successfully by using the co-precipitation method. The synthesized composite was then characterized by SEM, XRD studies, EDX analysis, and ultra-violet-visible (UV-VIS) spectroscopy. The catalytic efficiency for the methylene blue (MB) dye and drug degradation (ciprofloxacin) was assessed by UV-visible absorption spectra. Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria were used to test the fabrication composite's antibacterial properties. Various compositions (1%, 3%, 5%, 7%, and 9%) of/Cu@CdS nanocomposite (NCs) and 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, and 60% of g-C3N4 NCs were prepared. Results reveal that 5%Cu@CdS and 40%g-C3N45%Cu@CdS showed maximum antibacterial activity and photocatalytic degradation of dye and drug. The X-ray pattern showed no remarkable change in doped and pristine CdS nanoparticles (NPs). The efficient photocatalytic degradation activity of the fabricated ternary nanocomposite against MB dye and ciprofloxacin an antibiotic drug makes it a viable contender for solving environmental problems. Herein, we reported a unique photo device consisting of monolayer graphene and a few-layer rhenium diselenide (ReSe2) heterojunction. The prepared Gr/ReSe2-HS demonstrated an excellent mobility of 380 cm2/Vs, current on/off ratio ~ 104, photoresponsivity (R ~ 74 AW−1 @ 82 mW cm−2), detectivity (D* ~ 1.25 × 1011 Jones), external quantum efficiency (EQE ~ 173%) and rapid photoresponse (rise/fall time ~ 75/3 µs) significantly higher to an individual ReSe2 device (mobility = 36 cm2 V−1s−1, Ion/Ioff ratio = 1.4 × 105–1.8 × 105, R = 11.2 AW−1, D* = 1.02 × 1010, EQE ~ 26.1%, rise/fall time = 2.37/5.03 s). Additionally, gate-bias dependent Schottky barrier height (SBH) estimation for individual ReSe2 (45 meV at Vbg = 40 V) and Gr/ReSe2-HS (9.02 meV at Vbg = 40 V) revealed a low value for the heterostructure, confirming dry transfer technique to be successful in fabricating an interfacial defects-free junction. In addition, HS is fully capable to demonstrate an excellent gas sensing response with rapid response/recovery time (39/126 s for NO2 at 200 ppb) and is operational at room temperature (26.85 °C). The proposed Gr/ReSe2-HS is capable of demonstrating excellent electro-optical, as well as gas sensing, performance simultaneously and, therefore, can be used as a building block to fabricate next-generation photodetectors and gas sensors.
