The Miocene succession (Allala River Sandstones and Tenes Blue Marls Formation) that crops out in the Tenes area, situated in the northeast of the Lower Chelif Basin in NW-Algeria, contains a low-diversity assemblage of trace fossils. Fifteen (15) ichnogenera were identified: Arenicolites, Beaconites, Cylindrichnus, Diplocraterion, Macaronichnus, Ophiomorpha, Palaeophycus, Parahaentzschelinia, Planolites, Rosselia, Skolithos, Taenidium, Teichichnus, Thalassinoides and Zoophycos. Ethologically, these ichnogenera chiefly display dwelling and feeding activities. The presence of thick, deep-tier, scattered, mainly vertical dwelling burrows attributed to the Skolithos ichnofacies indicates high energy conditions, normal oxygenation and soft substrate. Moreover, elements of the Cruziana ichnofacies show more varied behavioural strategies and higher inchnodiversity with the dominance of horizontal burrows of deposit-feeders. This ichnological study supports the palaeoenvironmental interpretation based on sedimentological analysis of a wave-dominated siliciclastic platform (backshore to offshore), allowing a more precise zonation of the shoreface zone (middle/upper and lower shoreface). In order to systematically study the trace fossils of Upper Cretaceous flysch deposits, Golbaf stratigraphic section in the southeast of Kerman province was selected and sampled. These deposits are 147 meters' thickness and consist of siltstone, silty sandstone and shale._From Golbaf stratigraphic section, 68 ichnospecies belonging to 30 ichnogenera have been studied and identified, according to the abundance of trace fossils in the section, Planolites isp., Paleophycus isp., Ophiomorpha rudis, Thalassinoides suevicus, Helminthopsis isp., Helminthorhaphe.felxcous, Cochlichnus isp., Cosmorhaphe isp., Zoophycos isp. and Paleodictyon strozzii. Based on the diversity of identified fossils, the age of the flysch deposits in the Golbaf Coniacin-Santonian section is suggested. These fossils mostly include crawling-nutritional or nutritional effects. The variety and abundance of trace fossils in the section under study shows the appropriate environmental and ecological conditions at the time of the deposition of sediments. These fossils are found in a shallow to turbidity marine environment, which is well preserved and varied, and their highest abundance is seen in the middle part of this section. Geoconservation, geotourism and geodiversity are concepts that should be taught at all educational levels. The entire society should preserve the natural resources in a sustainable way. Geological processes and quarrying created and still creates cultural heritage in landscapes, villages and cities worldwide. Rock outcrops, historical quarries, forms of extraction and buildings built with stones are a heritage that should safeguard. This work details a geotourism route that would bring new life to Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro University (UTAD) campus. The proposed route connects a historical quarry located in the UTAD campus with the main church built with its granite and different rock outcrops that show the geological history of the city of Vila Real (Portugal). It envisages a three-points of interest tour from the Fernando Real Geology Museum (UTAD) to a church built with Prezandães granite from Folhadela. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Oligocene Barail Group represents a significant lithostratigraphic unit within Paleogene-Neogene successions of northeast India. Integrated sedimentologic and ichnologic analyses along the Old Cachar road, Manipur, have been carried out. Sedimentological investigation reveals a dominance of subarkoses and arkoses, with source rocks being granites, pegmatites, gneiss, and schists, typical of a warm, humid to subhumid palaeoclimate. The ichnofauna points to a depositional environment ranging from upper shoreface through tide-dominated delta front up to the lower shoreface zone, characterized by Teredolites, Glossifungites, Skolithos, Skolithos-Cruziana, and Cruziana ichnofacies. The Barail sequences represent a hyperpycnal-delta-fed sedimentary unit, deposited at the continental margin in the passively rifted western Burma basin which evolved due to magma-poor hyperextension.
