The Microchannel X-ray Telescope (MXT) is an innovative compact X-ray instrument on board the SVOM astronomical mission dedicated to the study of transient phenomena such as gamma-ray bursts. During 3 weeks, we have tested the MXT flight model at the Panter X-ray test facility under the nominal temperature and vacuum conditions that MXT will undergo in-flight. We collected data at series of characteristic energies probing the entire MXT energy range, from 0.28 keV up to 9 keV, for multiple source positions with the center of the point spread function (PSF) inside and outside the detector field of view (FOV). We stacked the data of the positions with the PSF outside the FOV to obtain a uniformly illuminated matrix and reduced all data sets using a dedicated pipeline. We determined the best spectral performance of MXT using an optimized data processing, especially for the energy calibration and the charge sharing effect induced by the pixel low energy thresholding. 4. The Translatability of Experience: On Fanon’s Language Puzzle

Fanon considered that colonial alienation produced multiple forms of relational pathologies, many of which expressed themselves in and through blockages in communication rather than through explicit conflict. Exposing the role of language as a vector of racial violence and colonial oppression, Fanon also presented it as a potentially revolutionary medium of decolonization. The article has two aims: firstly, to give an account of Fanon’s ongoing concern with language, in part by underscoring three very different influences in Fanon’s expansive conception of its role: Aimé Césaire, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, and François Tosquelles. Secondly, to rearticulate the function of language in Fanon’s theory of colonial disalienation by drawing on a specific trajectory in his clinico-political thought: from diagnoses of untranslatability or incommunicability to analyses of decolonization as the radical transformation of the subject’s experience of language.

Laws play an important role in emergency response capacity. During the COVID-19 outbreak, experts have noted both a lack of law where it is needed and a problematic use of laws that exist. To address those challenges, policymakers revising public health emergency laws can examine how existing laws were used during the COVID-19 response to address problems that arose during their application. Judicial opinions can provide a source of data for this review. This study used legal epidemiology methods to perform an environmental scan of global judicial opinions, published from March 1 through August 31, 2020, from 23 countries, related to government-issued COVID-19 mitigation measures. 8. A longitudinal prospective cohort study of health-related quality of life assessment in outpatient adults with post-COVID-19 conditions.

- Abstract
Background: Few studies have reported the long-term effects of post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). We aim to assess HRQoL in outpatient adults with PCC over a 2-year period., Methods: This prospective longitudinal cohort study compared 413 PCC participants (cases) to 520 COVID-19-positive participants who recovered (controls). HRQoL was assessed with the EuroQol 5-Dimension 5-Level preference-based questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L) and fitness and frailty with the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) at each visit for up to 24 months., Results: Among a total of 933 participants, 413 (42.3%) met the definition of PCC (cases) and 520 (55.7%) did not (controls). Overall, there was a significant difference in EQ-5D-5L index score from 3 months post-infection up to 18 months between cases and controls ( p < 0.001). This score continued to decline up to 18 months in the PCC group only. Most impaired EQ-5D-5L dimensions at 12 months in the PCC group included pain/discomfort, anxiety/depression, and usual activities., Conclusions: This is one of the first studies to report 2-year alterations of HRQoL in outpatients with PCC. Our study highlights the need for continued monitoring for PCC long-term consequences. - Abstract
Aims: The harms arising from psychoactive drug use are complex, and harm reduction strategies should be informed by a detailed understanding of the extent and nature of that harm. Drug harm is also context specific, and so any comprehensive assessment of drug harm should be relevant to the characteristics of the population in question. This study aimed to evaluate and rank drug harms within Aotearoa New Zealand using a multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) framework, and to separately consider harm within the total population, and among youth., Methods: Two facilitated workshops involved the separate ranking of harm for the total population, and then for youth aged 12-17, by two expert panels. In the total population workshop, 23 drugs were scored against 17 harm criteria, and those criteria were then evaluated using a swing weighting process. Scoring and weighting were subsequently updated during the youth-specific workshop. All results were recorded and analysed using specialised MCDA software., Results: When considering overall harm, the MCDA modelling results indicated that alcohol, methamphetamine and synthetic cannabinoids were the most harmful to both the overall population and the youth, followed by tobacco in the total population. Alcohol remained the most harmful drug for the total population when separately considering harm to those who use it, and harm to others., Conclusions: The results provide detailed and context-specific insight into the harm associated with psychoactive drugs use within Aotearoa New Zealand. The findings also demonstrate the value of separately considering harm for different countries, and for different population subgroups.

10. Prevalence of persistent symptoms at least 1 month after SARS-CoV-2 Omicron infection in adults.

- Abstract
Background: Persistent post-COVID-19 symptoms pose an important health care burden. The Omicron variant has rapidly spread across the world and infected millions of people, largely exceeding previous variants. The potential for many of these people to develop persistent symptoms is a major public health concern. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and risk factors of post-COVID-19 symptoms associated with Omicron., Methods: We conducted a single-centre prospective observational study in Quebec, Canada, between December 2021 and April 2022. Participants were adults enrolled in the Biobanque Québécoise de la COVID-19 (BQC19). Cases were considered Omicron cases as more than 85% were estimated to be attributable to Omicron variant during that period. Adults with polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-confirmed COVID-19 were recruited at least 4 weeks after the onset of infection., Results: Of 1,338 individuals contacted, 290 (21.7%) participants were recruited in BQC19 during that period. Median duration between the initial PCR test and follow-up was 44 days (IQR 31-56 d). A total of 137 (47.2%) participants reported symptoms at least 1-month post-infection. The majority (98.6%) had a history of mild COVID-19 illness. Most common persistent symptoms included fatigue (48.2%), shortness of breath (32.6%), and cough (24.1%). Number of symptoms during acute COVID-19 was identified as a risk factor for post-COVID-19 symptoms (OR 1.07 [95% CI 1.03% to 1.10%] p = 0.009)., Conclusions: This is the first study reporting the prevalence of post-COVID-19 symptoms associated with Omicron in Canada. 11. Believe in You student empowerment program: A pilot study.

- Abstract
Introduction: The social and emotional health of youth is important, especially after students experience the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to understand the influence that the Believe In You Student Empowerment Program had on students social emotional learning (SEL) behaviors over a 10 week period during the COVID-19 pandemic., Materials and Methods: A part of this quantitative study, one school in each the intervention and the control group (delayed intervention; 2 schools total) participated in the study. Students enrolled in physical education within each school participated ( n = 166; Intervention = 88). Students in each group took a survey at week 1 (baseline measure), week 5, and week 10. Students who were in the intervention group started the program after week 1, while the delayed intervention group began the program in week 5., Results: A series of ANCOVA's examined the difference of social emotional learning knowledge and social emotional learning scales between the treatment and control groups. Self-awareness ( F = 13.91, p < .01), self-management ( F = 6.14, p < .01) & relationship skills ( F = 5.50, p < .05) saw significant differences over time compared to the control group. The second series of analyses looked only at the intervention group and analyzed to determine significant differences in mean scores of SEL variables between weeks one and ten. Emotional regulation saw significant differences ( t = 2.5, p < .01). The final set of analyses conducted were with the delayed intervention group and examined the difference in mean SEL scores over the three time periods. Again, emotional regulation saw significance with an interaction of time and gender ( F = 4.162, p < .01)., Discussion and Conclusion: In a short period of time, Believe in You Student Empowerment Program has shown the potential to have a positive influence on students social emotional learning behaviors, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. More research should be conducted over a longer period of time, in-person, and with an experimental design to better understand the effects of the Varsity Brands Believe in You Student Empowerment Program and its implications with student social emotional learning behaviors., Competing Interests: The majority of the authors (EC, JB, KM, JF) declare that the research was conducted in the absence of any commercial or financial relationships that could be construed as a potential conflict of interest. Modifications to the social-ecological model, such as Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) frameworks, have been utilized in comprehensive school health interventions. Classroom physical activity breaks are used when implementing whole-of-school approaches. However, the onus to implement classroom physical activity breaks is on school stakeholders. This study aimed to explore teacher and principal perceptions and implementation of physical activity breaks in elementary schools. Further, this study investigated how theoretical factors representative of the social-ecological model and their interactions affect teacher and principal perceptions and utilization of classroom physical activity breaks. Interviews were conducted to understand teacher and principal perceptions and implementation. A total of 12 classroom teachers and five principals participated in semi-structured interviews which were analyzed using constant comparison and deductive analysis to identify relationships and themes coded across the social-ecological and WSCC models. To ensure fidelity individuals that led the professional development (n = 2) were also interviewed. Three main themes emerged as part of the data analysis: (i) The Connection Between Intrapersonal Knowledge and Interpersonal Professional Development, (ii) Resources, Sharing Means Caring and (iii) The Policy Level Creates Time. Teachers and principals valued knowledge and resources and felt that policy facilitated implementation. Results suggest that classroom physical activity breaks are influenced by multiple factors across varied levels of the social-ecological model. This study used legal epidemiology methods to perform an environmental scan of global judicial opinions, published from March 1 through August 31, 2020, from 23 countries, related to government-issued COVID-19 mitigation measures. The opinions were coded, and findings categorize the measures based on: (1) the World Health Organization's May 2020 publication, Overview of Public Health and Social Measures in the Context of COVID-19, and (2) related legal challenges brought in courts, including disputes about authority; conflicts of law; rationality, proportionality, or necessity; implementation; and enforcement. The findings demonstrate how judicial review of emergency measures has played a role in the COVID-19 response. In some cases, court rulings required mitigation measures to be amended or stopped. In others, court rulings required the government to issue a measure not yet in place. These findings provide examples for understanding issues related to the application of law during an emergency response.

- Abstract
EUSO-Balloon is a pathfinder for JEM-EUSO , the mission concept of a spaceborne observatory which is designed to observe Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Ray (UHECR)-induced Extensive Air Showers (EAS) by detecting their UltraViolet (UV) light tracks "from above." On August 25, 2014, EUSO-Balloon was launched from Timmins Stratospheric Balloon Base (Ontario, Canada) by the balloon division of the French Space Agency CNES. After reaching a floating altitude of 38 km, EUSO-Balloon imaged the UV light in the wavelength range ∼290-500 nm for more than 5 hours using the key technologies of JEM-EUSO . The flight allowed a good understanding of the performance of the detector to be developed, giving insights into possible improvements to be applied to future missions. A detailed measurement of the photoelectron counts in different atmospheric and ground conditions was achieved. By means of the simulation of the instrument response and by assuming atmospheric models, the absolute intensity of diffuse light was estimated. The instrument detected hundreds of laser tracks with similar characteristics to EASs shot by a helicopter flying underneath. These are the first recorded laser tracks measured from a fluorescence detector looking down on the atmosphere. The reconstruction of the direction of the laser tracks was performed.
