Hormonal receptor positive human epidermal receptor 2 negative (HR+/HER2-) is the commonest molecular subtype of breast cancer (BC). Patients with HR+/HER2- BC may manifest clinically a late recurrence whose BC metastasizes 10-15 years post-operatively. We report one case who presented with pulmonary mass in upper lobe of lung and Horner syndrome 16 years after BC surgery. FDG PET/CT suggested pulmonary malignancy but could not differentiate between primary or metastatic cancer when invasive biopsy was quite risky. Novel 18F-FES PET/CT facilitated the non-invasive functional diagnosis of estrogen-receptor positive (ER+) pulmonary metastasis of BC, and the patient experienced partial response (PR) after CDK4/6 inhibitor and aromatase inhibitor as endocrine therapy. This article reviews the diagnosis and treatment process of this case, to provide guidance for non-invasive global evaluation of ER status among metastatic HR+/HER2- BC patients with 18F-FES PET/CT.

Objective: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) affects 7% of pregnant women worldwide. How to effectively treat GDM has always been a concern of people.Research methods: In this study, a diabetes model was established by drug-induced mice. Subsequently, the blood glucose levels and serum insulin changes of the mice after N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) treatment were observed. At the same time, the effect of NAC on reproduction of GDM mice was recorded.Results of the study: Mice fed NAC showed significantly improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity compared to Diabetic/Control. Total serum cholesterol, serum triglycerides, and serum low-density lipoprotein were significantly reduced, and atherosclerosis index was much lower than in control mice. In addition, Diabetic/Control mice had lower litter sizes and higher birth weights. NAC treatment significantly restored litter size and reduced birth weight in Diabetic/Control mice. It was found in WB assay that the NAC-fed group significantly increased nuclear Nrf2 and HO-1 expression levels.Conclusion: NAC can improve blood glucose tolerance in GDM mice; NAC effectively relieves the symptoms of hyperlipidemia caused by GDM; NAC enhances the expression of Nrf2/HO-1 in the liver, thereby restoring redox homeostasis. NAC can reduce gestational diabetes-related disease indicators by oral administration, and has a beneficial effect on the offspring of pregnant mice (reduces its diabetes disease indicators). Turnip, one of the oldest groups of cultivated Brassica rapa species, is a traditional crop as well as a form of animal fodder, a vegetable, and a herbal medicine that is widely cultivated in farming and farming-pastoral regions in Tibet. Different regions of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP) are home to a rich diversity of turnip owing to their high altitudes and variable climate types. However, information on the morphology and genetic diversity of Tibetan turnip remains limited. Therefore, the genetic diversity of 171 turnip varieties from China and elsewhere (Japan, Korea, and Europe) was analyzed using 58 morphological characteristics and 31 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers in this study. The varieties showed that the genetic distance ranged from 0.12 to 1.00, and the genetic similarity coefficient ranged between 0.73 and 0.95. Cluster tree showed two distinct clusters. Both morphotype and geography contributed to the group classification. A combination of morphological traits and molecular markers could refine the precision of accurate identification compared to the separate morphological and molecular data analyses. The sampling ratio of 15% to utmost precisely represent the initial population was compared to ratios of 10% and 20%, and the sampling ratio of 15% is recommended for future works when a primary core collection of turnip resources is constructed. Background: Plant diseases seriously decrease the yield and quality of agricultural crops. Fungicide treatments remain the main means of field fungi control. However, the residual activity of fungicides is rapidly reduced due to various factors in the natural environment, therefore the development of agents with novel modes of action is desirable. It is highly required to design and develop new fungicides to address the resistance issue. Designing low impact chemicals to safely and sustainably address needs of agriculture., Results: In this work, we used the highly active fluxapyroxad and flutolanil as parent structures, to design and synthesize a series of pyrazole-4-carboxamide derivatives. Some of the pyrazole-4-carboxamide derivatives exhibit fungicidal activities that are comparable to or higher than those of the commercialized fungicides fluxapyroxad and bixafen. In particular, compounds TM-1, TM-2, TM-3, TM-4, TM-5, TM-7 and TM-8 showed excellent fungicidal activities against corn rust that were 2-4 times higher than those of fluxapyroxad and bixafen. Field trial results demonstrated that at the same dosage levels, compound TM-2 exhibited comparable field control efficacy against wheat rust as compared to triadimefon and pyrazophenamide. Molecular docking simulations reveal that compound TM-2 interacts with TRP 173 of succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) through hydrogen bonding, which could explain the probable mechanism of action between compound TM-2 and the target protein., Conclusion: These results indicate that compound TM-2 may be a promising fungicide candidate and provide valuable reference for further investigation. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry., (© 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.)

Background: Fibrobronchoscopy is a common adjunct tool that requires anesthesia and is widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of various respiratory diseases. However, current anesthesia methods, such as spray, nebulized inhalation, and cricothyroid membrane puncture, have their own advantages and disadvantages. Recently, studies have shown that bronchoscopic direct-view glottis anesthesia is a simple and inexpensive method that shortens the examination time and provides excellent anesthetic results., Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of bronchoscopic direct vision glottis anesthesia for bronchoscopy., Methods: The study included 100 patients who underwent bronchoscopy during thoracic surgery. A random number table method was used to divide the patients into control and observation groups (50 patients each). The control and observation groups were anesthetized using the nebulized inhalation and bronchoscopic direct vision glottis method, respectively. Hemodynamic indices [systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), heart rate (HR), and oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ) before (T1), 5 min after anesthesia (T2), and at the end of the operation (T3)] serum stress hormone indices [norepinephrine (NE), epinephrine (E), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), and cortisol (Cor) before and after treatment] were compared between the 2 groups. Adverse effects were also compared between the two groups., Results: At T2 and T3, SBP, DBP, and HR were lower in the observation group than the control group, whereas SpO 2 was higher than the control group [(119.05 ± 8.01) mmHg vs (127.05 ± 7.83) mmHg, (119.35 ± 6.66) mmHg vs (128.39 ± 6.56) mmHg, (84.68 ± 6.04) mmHg vs (92.42 ± 5.57) mmHg, (84.53 ± 4.97) mmHg compared to (92.57 ± 6.02) mmHg, (74.25 ± 5.18) beats/min compared to (88.32 ± 5.72) beats/min, (74.38 ± 5.31) beats/min compared to (88.42 ± 5.69) beats/min, (97.36 ± 2.21)% vs (94.35 ± 2.16)%, (97.42 ± 2.36)% vs (94.38 ± 2.69%], with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). After treatment, NE, E, ACTH, and Cor were significantly higher in both groups than before treatment, but were lower in the observation group than in the control group [(68.25 ± 8.87) ng/mL vs (93.35 ± 14.00) ng/mL, (53.59 ± 5.89) ng/mL vs (82.32 ± 10.70) ng/mL, (14.32 ± 1.58) pg/mL vs (20.35 ± 3.05) pg/mL, (227.35 ± 25.01) nmol/L vs (322.28 ± 45.12) nmol/L], with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05).
