Abstract

The problem of counting relations on a finite set that are transitive is still unsolved or open. Efforts put in this direction have failed to culminate into finding an explicit formula that would count all such relations on a finite set. In the current paper, we state and prove a new inequality concerning the count of such relations. This inequality provides a recursive relation leading to a lower bound for the count of relations on a finite set that are transitive.
