6. A Case of Campylobacter Bacteremia.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Campylobacter is an extremely rare causative organism of bacteremia, and more information about epidemiology and patient presentation should be explored. Here we present a case of campylobacter coli bacteremia in a patient. CASE PRESENTATION: We report on a 72 year old patient presenting with complaints of altered mental status, fever, lethargy, and an episode of clear emesis. Past medical history included rectal cancer status post colectomy and a colostomy placement in 2008. Blood cultures ultimately speciated into campylobacter coli. CONCLUSION: The patient case helps the knowledge gaps on the clinical presentation of campylobacter bacteremia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
