The tensor-train (TT) format is a data-sparse tensor representation commonly used in high dimensional function approximations arising from computational and data sciences. Various sequential and parallel TT decomposition algorithms have been proposed for different tensor inputs and assumptions. In this paper, we propose subtensor parallel adaptive TT cross, which partitions a tensor onto distributed memory machines with multidimensional process grids, and constructs an TT approximation iteratively with tensor elements. We derive two iterative formulations for pivot selection and TT core construction under the distributed memory setting, conduct communication and scaling analysis of the algorithm, and illustrate its performance with multiple test experiments. These include up to 6D Hilbert tensors and tensors constructed from Maxwellian distribution functions that arise in kinetic theory. Our results demonstrate significant accuracy with greatly reduced storage requirements via the TT cross approximation. Furthermore, we demonstrate good to optimal strong and weak scaling performance for the proposed parallel algorithm.

In this paper, we present a new adaptive rank approximation technique for computing solutions to the high-dimensional linear kinetic transport equation. The approach we propose is based on a macro-micro decomposition of the kinetic model in which the angular domain is discretized with a tensor product quadrature rule under the discrete ordinates method. To address the challenges associated with the curse of dimensionality, the proposed low-rank method is cast in the framework of the hierarchical Tucker decomposition. The adaptive rank integrators we propose are built upon high-order discretizations for both time and space. In particular, this work considers implicit-explicit discretizations for time and finite-difference weighted-essentially non-oscillatory discretizations for space. The high-order singular value decomposition is used to perform low-rank truncation of the high-dimensional time-dependent distribution function. The methods are applied to several benchmark problems, where we compare the solution quality and measure compression achieved by the adaptive rank methods against their corresponding full-grid methods. Physics-informed deep learning has been developed as a novel paradigm for learning physical dynamics recently. While general physics-informed deep learning methods have shown early promise in learning fluid dynamics, they are difficult to generalize in arbitrary time instants in real-world scenario, where the fluid motion can be considered as a time-variant trajectory involved large-scale particles. Inspired by the advantage of diffusion model in learning the distribution of data, we first propose Pi-fusion, a physics-informed diffusion model for predicting the temporal evolution of velocity and pressure field in fluid dynamics. Physics-informed guidance sampling is proposed in the inference procedure of Pi-fusion to improve the accuracy and interpretability of learning fluid dynamics. Furthermore, we introduce a training strategy based on reciprocal learning to learn the quasiperiodical pattern of fluid motion and thus improve the generalizability of the model. The proposed approach are then evaluated on both synthetic and real-world dataset, by comparing it with state-of-the-art physics-informed deep learning methods. Experimental results show that the proposed approach significantly outperforms existing methods for predicting temporal evolution of velocity and pressure field, confirming its strong generalization by drawing probabilistic inference of forward process and physics-informed guidance sampling. The proposed Pi-fusion can also be generalized in learning other physical dynamics governed by partial differential equations.

In this paper, we develop high-order, conservative, non-splitting Eulerian-Lagrangian (EL) Runge-Kutta (RK) finite volume (FV) weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) schemes for convection-diffusion equations. The proposed EL-RK-FV-WENO scheme defines modified characteristic lines and evolves the solution along them, significantly relaxing the time-step constraint for the convection term. The main algorithm design challenge arises from the complexity of constructing accurate and robust reconstructions on dynamically varying Lagrangian meshes. This reconstruction process is needed for flux evaluations on time-dependent upstream quadrilaterals and time integrations along moving characteristics. To address this, we propose a strategy that utilizes a WENO reconstruction on a fixed Eulerian mesh for spatial reconstruction, and updates intermediate solutions on the Eulerian background mesh for implicit-explicit RK temporal integration. This strategy leverages efficient reconstruction and remapping algorithms to manage the complexities of polynomial reconstructions on time-dependent quadrilaterals, while ensuring local mass conservation. The proposed scheme ensures mass conservation due to the flux-form semi-discretization and the mass-conservative reconstruction on both background and upstream cells. Extensive numerical tests have been performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

We present a class of high-order Eulerian-Lagrangian Runge-Kutta finite volume methods that can numerically solve Burgers' equation with shock formations, which could be extended to general scalar conservation laws. Eulerian-Lagrangian (EL) and semi-Lagrangian (SL) methods have recently seen increased development and have become a staple for allowing large time-stepping sizes. Yet, maintaining relatively large time-stepping sizes post shock formation remains quite challenging. Our proposed scheme integrates the partial differential equation on a space-time region partitioned by linear approximations to the characteristics determined by the Rankine-Hugoniot jump condition. We trace the characteristics forward in time and present a merging procedure for the mesh cells to handle intersecting characteristics due to shocks. Following this partitioning, we write the equation in a time-differential form and evolve with Runge-Kutta methods in a method-of-lines fashion. High-resolution methods such as ENO and WENO-AO schemes are used for spatial reconstruction. Extension to higher dimensions is done via dimensional splitting. We propose a high order adaptive-rank implicit integrators for stiff time-dependent PDEs, leveraging extended Krylov subspaces to efficiently and adaptively populate low-rank solution bases. This allows for the accurate representation of solutions with significantly reduced computational costs. We further introduce an efficient mechanism for residual evaluation and an adaptive rank-seeking strategy that optimizes low-rank settings based on a comparison between the residual size and the local truncation errors of the time-stepping discretization. We demonstrate our approach with the challenging Lenard-Bernstein Fokker-Planck (LBFP) nonlinear equation, which describes collisional processes in a fully ionized plasma. The preservation of {the equilibrium state} is achieved through the Chang-Cooper discretization, and strict conservation of mass, momentum and energy via a Locally Macroscopic Conservative (LoMaC) procedure. The development of implicit adaptive-rank integrators, demonstrated here up to third-order temporal accuracy via diagonally implicit Runge-Kutta schemes, showcases superior performance in terms of accuracy, computational efficiency, equilibrium preservation, and conservation of macroscopic moments. A crucial yet challenging issue in quantum metrology is to ascertain the ultimate precision achievable in estimation strategies. While there are two paradigms of estimations, local and global, current research is largely confined to local estimations, which are useful once the parameter of interest is approximately known. In this Letter we target a paradigm shift towards global estimations, which can operate reliably even with a few measurement data and no substantial prior knowledge about the parameter. The key innovation here is to develop a technique, dubbed virtual imaginary time evolution, capable of mapping global estimations into local ones. This offers an intriguing pathway to surmount challenges in the realm of global estimations by leveraging powerful tools tailored for local estimations. With the advance development in quantum science, constructing a large-scale quantum network has become a hot area of future quantum information technology. Future quantum networks promise to enable many fantastic applications and will unlock fundamentally new technologies in information security and large-scale computation. The future quantum internet is required to connect quantum information processors to achieve unparalleled capabilities in secret communication and enable quantum communication between any two points on Earth. However, the existing quantum networks are basically constructed to realize the communication between the end users in their own networks. How to bridge different independent networks to form a fully-connected quantum internet becomes a pressing challenge for future networks. Here, we demonstrate the quantum fusion of two independent networks for the first time based on multiuser entanglement swapping, to merge two 10-user networks into a larger network with 18 users in quantum correlation layer. By performing the Bell state measurement between two nonneighboring nodes, the users from different networks can establish entanglement and ultimately every pair of the 18 users are able to communicate with each other using the swapped states. Our approach opens attractive opportunities for the establishment of quantum entanglement between remote nodes in different networks, which facilitates versatile quantum information interconnects and has great application in constructing large-scale intercity quantum communication networks.

Applying large language models (LLMs) to modern power systems presents a promising avenue for enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency. However, this action may also incur potential security threats, which have not been fully recognized so far. To this end, this article analyzes potential threats incurred by applying LLMs to power systems, emphasizing the need for urgent research and development of countermeasures.

Cyclic codes are an important class of linear codes. Bounding the minimum distance of cyclic codes is a long-standing research topic in coding theory, and several well-known and basic results have been developed on this topic. Recently, locally repairable codes (LRCs) have attracted much attention due to their repair efficiency in large-scale distributed storage systems. In this paper, by employing the singleton procedure technique, we first provide a sufficient condition for bounding the minimum distance of cyclic codes with typical defining sets. Secondly, by considering a specific case, we establish a connection between bounds for the minimum distance of cyclic codes and solutions to a system of inequalities. This connection leads to the derivation of new bounds, including some with general patterns. In particular, we provide three new bounds with general patterns, one of which serves as a generalization of the Betti-Sala bound. Finally, we present a generalized lower bound for a special case and construct several families of $(2, \delta)$-LRCs with unbounded length and minimum distance $2\delta$. It turns out that these LRCs are distance-optimal, and their parameters are new. The dual-carbon goals of China necessitate precise accounting of company carbon emissions, vital for green development across all industries. Not only the company itself but also financial investors require accurate and comprehensive company-level emissions data for climate risk management. This paper introduces the structure and methodology of the High-resolution Database for Carbon Emissions of China-listed companies, integrating three primary data sources: self-disclosed environmental data from listed companies, long-accumulated national power emission data, and regional high-precision emission data derived from multi-source satellites. The database's innovation lies in the employment of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to aggregate multi-source satellite data. This approach enables the precise identification of carbon emission sources and the prediction of company-level carbon emissions. Consequently, this methodology robustly cross-validates self-reported direct emissions, enhancing the accuracy and granularity of company-level emission records. Central to the database's utility includes the provision of high-resolution company carbon emission data, which is not only highly accurate but also instrumental in carbon management and emission market transactions. By offering a more nuanced and verifiable picture of company emissions, the database supports China's broader efforts to meet its ambitious dual-carbon targets and transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible economy.

Room-Temperature Ambient-Pressure Superconductor (RTAPS) can achieve superconducting properties at room temperature and normal atmospheric pressure, eliminating the power system's transmission loss and enhancing power systems efficiency. This paper investigates the comprehensive implications and prospective applications of the recently discovered RTAPS, LK-99, in modern power systems. It explores the potential of RTAPS in reshaping modern power systems paradigms, providing the vision of future RTAPS-based power systems. Although debate surrounds its industrial implementations, RTAPS's benefits for electricity transmission, grid flexibility, improved energy storage, and renewable energy integration could be unprecedented. The paper delves into underlying opportunities and challenges, including RTAPS-based power flow methods evolution, security redefinition, computational efficiency, cost implications, and innovative market transaction forms to facilitate renewable energy competitiveness.

In distributed storage systems, locally repairable codes (LRCs) are designed to reduce disk I/O and repair costs by enabling recovery of each code symbol from a small number of other symbols. To handle multiple node failures, $(r,\delta)$-LRCs are introduced to enable local recovery in the event of up to $\delta-1$ failed nodes. Constructing optimal $(r,\delta)$-LRCs has been a significant research topic over the past decade. In \cite{Luo2022}, Luo \emph{et al.} proposed a construction of linear codes by using unions of some projective subspaces within a projective space. Several new classes of Griesmer codes and distance-optimal codes were constructed, and some of them were proved to be alphabet-optimal $2$-LRCs. In this paper, we first modify the method of constructing linear codes in \cite{Luo2022} by considering a more general situation of intersecting projective subspaces. This modification enables us to construct good codes with more flexible parameters. Additionally, we present the conditions for the constructed linear codes to qualify as Griesmer codes or achieve distance optimality. Next, we explore the locality of linear codes constructed by eliminating elements from a complete projective space. The novelty of our work lies in establishing the locality as $(2,p-2)$, $(2,p-1)$, or $(2,p)$-locality, in contrast to the previous literature that only considered $2$-locality. Moreover, by combining analysis of code parameters and the C-M like bound for $(r,\delta)$-LRCs, we construct some alphabet-optimal $(2,\delta)$-LRCs which may be either Griesmer codes or not Griesmer codes. In this paper, we construct a novel Eulerian-Lagrangian finite volume (ELFV) method for nonlinear scalar hyperbolic equations in one space dimension. It is well known that the exact solutions to such problems may contain shocks though the initial conditions are smooth, and direct numerical methods may suffer from restricted time step sizes. To relieve the restriction, we propose an ELFV method, where the space-time domain was separated by the partition lines originated from the cell interfaces whose slopes are obtained following the Rakine-Hugoniot junmp condition. Unfortunately, to avoid the intersection of the partition lines, the time step sizes are still limited. To fix this gap, we detect effective troubled cells (ETCs) and carefully design the influence region of each ETC, within which the partitioned space-time regions are merged together to form a new one. Then with the new partition of the space-time domain, we theoretically prove that the proposed first-order scheme with Euler forward time discretization is total-variation-diminishing and maximum-principle-preserving with {at least twice} larger time step constraints than the classical first order Eulerian method for Burgers' equation. Discoveries of tetraquarks not only enrich the hadronic spectrum but also provide more platforms to understand quantum chromodynamics. We study the production processes of hidden-charm and open-charm tetraquarks in $B$ decays by analyzing their topological amplitudes. Relations between different channels are found, which confront tests by experiments to probe the nature of the tetraquarks. The effectiveness of prompt learning has been demonstrated in different pre-trained language models. By formulating suitable template and choosing representative label mapping, prompt learning can be used as an efficient knowledge probe. However, finding suitable prompt in existing methods requires multiple experimental attempts or appropriate vector initialization on formulating suitable template and choosing representative label mapping, which it is more common in few-shot learning tasks. Motivating by PLM working process, we try to construct the prompt from task semantic perspective and thus propose the STPrompt -Semantic-guided and Task-driven Prompt model. Specifically, two novel prompts generated from the semantic dependency tree (Dep-prompt) and task-specific metadata description (Meta-prompt), are firstly constructed in a prompt augmented pool, and the proposed model would automatically select a suitable semantic prompt to motivating the prompt learning process. Our results show that the proposed model achieves the state-of-the-art performance in five different datasets of few-shot text classification tasks, which prove that more semantic and significant prompts could assume as a better knowledge proving tool.

In this paper, we propose a novel Local Macroscopic Conservative (LoMaC) low rank tensor method with discontinuous Galerkin (DG) discretization for the physical and phase spaces for simulating the Vlasov-Poisson (VP) system. The LoMaC property refers to the exact local conservation of macroscopic mass, momentum and energy at the discrete level. The recently developed LoMaC low rank tensor algorithm (arXiv:2207.00518) simultaneously evolves the macroscopic conservation laws of mass, momentum and energy using the kinetic flux vector splitting; then the LoMaC property is realized by projecting the low rank kinetic solution onto a subspace that shares the same macroscopic observables. This paper is a generalization of our previous work, but with DG discretization to take advantage of its compactness and flexibility in handling boundary conditions and its superior accuracy in the long term. The algorithm is developed in a similar fashion as that for a finite difference scheme, by observing that the DG method can be viewed equivalently in a nodal fashion. With the nodal DG method, assuming a tensorized computational grid, one will be able to (1) derive differentiation matrices for different nodal points based on a DG upwind discretization of transport terms, and (2) define a weighted inner product space based on the nodal DG grid points. The algorithm can be extended to the high dimensional problems by hierarchical Tucker decomposition of solution tensors and a corresponding conservative projection algorithm. In a similar spirit, the algorithm can be extended to DG methods on nodal points of an unstructured mesh, or to other types of discretization, e.g. the spectral method in velocity direction. We present fourth-order conservative non-splitting semi-Lagrangian (SL) Hermite essentially non-oscillatory (HWENO) schemes for linear transport equations with applications for nonlinear problems including the Vlasov-Poisson system, the guiding center Vlasov model, and the incompressible Euler equations in the vorticity-stream function formulation. The proposed SL HWENO schemes combine a weak formulation of the characteristic Galerkin method with two newly constructed HWENO reconstruction methods. Fourth-order accuracy is accomplished in both space and time under a non-splitting setting. Mass conservation naturally holds due to the weak formulation of the characteristic Galerkin method and the design of the HWENO reconstructions. We apply a positive-preserving limiter to maintain the positivity of numerical solutions when needed. Although the proposed SL framework allows us to take large time steps for improving computational efficiency, it also brings challenges to the spatial reconstruction technique; we construct two kind of novel HWENO reconstructions to fit the need for the proposed SL framework. Abundant benchmark tests are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SL HWENO schemes.

We propose an Eulerian-Lagrangian (EL) Runge-Kutta (RK) discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method for wave equations. The method is designed based on the ELDG method for transport problems [J. Comput. Phy. 446: 110632, 2021.], which tracks solution along approximations to characteristics in the DG framework, allowing extra large time stepping sizes with stability. The wave equation can be written as a first order hyperbolic system. Considering each characteristic family, a straightforward application of ELDG will be to transform to the characteristic variables, evolve them on associated characteristic related space-time regions, and transform them back to the original variables. However, the mass conservation could not be guaranteed in a general setting. In this paper, we formulate a mass conservative semi-discrete ELDG method by decomposing each variable into two parts, each of them associated with a different characteristic family. As a result, four different quantities are evolved in EL fashion and recombined to update the solution. The fully discrete scheme is formulated by using method-of-lines RK methods, with intermediate RK solutions updated on the background mesh. Numerical results on 1D and 2D wave equations are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed ELDG method. In this paper, we propose a novel Local Macroscopic Conservative (LoMaC) low rank tensor method for simulating the Vlasov-Poisson (VP) system. However, energy conservation is not guaranteed, which is a critical property to avoid unphysical plasma self-heating or cooling. The new ingredient in the LoMaC low rank tensor algorithm is that we simultaneously evolve the macroscopic conservation laws of mass, momentum and energy using a flux-difference form with kinetic flux vector splitting; then the LoMaC property is realized by projecting the low rank kinetic solution onto a subspace that shares the same macroscopic observables by a conservative orthogonal projection. The algorithm is extended to the high dimensional problems by hierarchical Tuck decomposition of solution tensors and a corresponding conservative projection algorithm. In this paper, we propose a conservative low rank tensor method to approximate nonlinear Vlasov solutions. The low rank approach is based on our earlier work (arxiv: 2106.08834). It takes advantage of the fact that the differential operators in the Vlasov equation are tensor friendly, based on which we propose to dynamically and adaptively build up low rank solution basis by adding new basis functions from discretization of the differential equation, and removing basis from a singular value decomposition (SVD)-type truncation procedure. For the discretization, we adopt a high order finite difference spatial discretization together with a second order strong stability preserving multi-step time discretization. While the SVD truncation will remove the redundancy in representing the high dimensional Vlasov solution, it will destroy the conservation properties of the associated full conservative scheme. In this paper, we develop a conservative truncation procedure with conservation of mass, momentum and kinetic energy densities. The conservative truncation is achieved by an orthogonal projection onto a subspace spanned by $1$, $v$ and $v^2$ in the velocity space associated with a weighted inner product. Then the algorithm performs a weighted SVD truncation of the remainder, which involves a scaling, followed by the standard SVD truncation and rescaling back. The algorithm is further developed in high dimensions with hierarchical Tucker tensor decomposition of high dimensional Vlasov solutions, overcoming the curse of dimensionality. An extensive set of nonlinear Vlasov examples are performed to show the effectiveness and conservation property of proposed conservative low rank approach. Comparison is performed against the non-conservative low rank tensor approach on conservation history of mass, momentum and energy.

Quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs) promise a new generation of efficient, low-cost, large-area, and flexible electroluminescent devices. However, the inferior performance of green and blue QD-LEDs is hindering the commercialization of QD-LEDs in display and solid-state lighting. Here, we demonstrate best-performing green and blue QD-LEDs with ~100% conversion of the injected charge carriers into emissive excitons. Key to this success is eliminating electron leakage at the organic/inorganic interface by using hole-transport polymers with low electron affinity and reduced energetic disorder. Our devices exhibit record-high peak external quantum efficiencies (28.7% for green, 21.9% for blue), exceptionally high efficiencies in wide ranges of luminance, and unprecedented stability (T95 lifetime: 580,000 h for green, 4,400 h for blue). The overall performance surpasses previously reported solution-processed green and blue LEDs.
