Se presentan nuevos registros de Agonoscena succincta en las regiones de Coquimbo, Valparaíso y Metropolitana de Santiago ubicadas en la subregión central de Chile, atacando a Ruta chalepensis (ruda), planta medicinal perenne de origen europeo naturalizada en el país. Los adultos se obtuvieron mediante la cría a partir de huevos y ninfas obtenidas desde el follaje de R. chalepensis. Se entrega una diagnosis y fotografías del insecto para facilitar su reconocimiento.

Lymphatic vessels are capable of sustaining lymph formation and propulsion via an intrinsic mechanism based on the spontaneous contraction of the lymphatic muscle in the wall of lymphatic collectors. Exposure to a hyper- or hypo-osmolar environment can deeply affect the intrinsic contraction rate and therefore alter lymph flow. In this work, we aimed at defining the putative receptors underlying such a response. Functional experiments were conducted in ex vivo rat diaphragmatic specimens containing spontaneously contracting lymphatic vessels that were exposed to either hyper- or hypo-osmolar solutions. Lymphatics were challenged with blockers to TRPV4, TRPV1, and VRAC channels, known to respond to changes in osmolarity and/or cell swelling and expressed by lymphatic vessels. Results show that the normal response to a hyperosmolar environment is a steady decrease in the contraction rate and lymph flow and can be prevented by blocking TRPV1 channels with capsazepine. The response to a hyposmolar environment consists of an early phase of an increase in the contraction rate, followed by a decrease. The early phase is abolished by blocking VRACs with DCPIB, while blocking TRPV4 mainly resulted in a delay of the early response. Overall, our data suggest that the cooperation of the three channels can shape the response of lymphatic vessels in terms of contraction frequency and lymph flow, with a prominent role of TRPV1 and VRACs.

Cobalt(ii) complexes featuring hexadentate amino-pyridyl ligands have been recently discovered as highly active catalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER), whose high performance arises from the possibility of assisting proton transfer processes via intramolecular routes involving detached pyridine units. With the aim of gaining insights into such catalytic routes, three new proton reduction catalysts based on amino-polypyridyl ligands are reported, focusing on substitution of the pyridine ortho- position. Specifically, a carboxylate (C2) and two hydroxyl substituted pyridyl moieties (C3, C4) are introduced with the aim of promoting intramolecular proton transfer which possibly enhances the efficiency of the catalysts. Foot-of-the-wave and catalytic Tafel plot analyses have been utilized to benchmark the catalytic performances under electrochemical conditions in acetonitrile using trifluoroacetic acid as the proton source. In this respect, the cobalt complex C3 turns out to be the fastest catalyst in the series, with a maximum turnover frequency (TOF) of 1.6 (±0.5) × 10 5 s -1 , but at the expense of large overpotentials. Mechanistic investigations by means of Density Functional Theory (DFT) suggest a typical ECEC mechanism ( i.e. a sequence of reduction - E - and protonation - C - events) for all the catalysts, as previously envisioned for the parent unsubstituted complex C1. Interestingly, in the case of complex C2, the catalytic route is triggered by initial protonation of the carboxylate group resulting in a less common (C)ECEC mechanism. The pivotal role of the hexadentate chelating ligand in providing internal proton relays to assist hydrogen elimination is further confirmed within this novel class of molecular catalysts, thus highlighting the relevance of a flexible polypyridine ligand in the design of efficient cobalt complexes for the HER. Objetive: To present a risk-ajusted score of complications during cardias catheterization in congenital heart disease., Design: observational, analitic, ambispective of 3.504 cases. The data analyzed included age, heart disease, type of procedure, major and minor complications., Methods: 3.504 procedures performed between october 1987 and may 2019. The variables were age, heart disease, procedere and clinical stege. Each patients was categorized as low risk 5 to 7 points, moderate risk 8 to 11 points and higt risk 12 to 22 points. The score was validated using the Hosmer-Lemeshow test and the ROC curve (Receiver Operating Characteristic)., Results: complications 177 (5%) 66 major (1.9%) and 111 minor (3.1%). Mortality was 0.4% (15 patients). The low-risk group (n = 825) had 1.5% complications; moderate risk (n = 2,221) 4.9%; high risk (n: 458) 12% (p < 0.001). The analysis of the retrospective data (n = 2953) was validated with prospective (n = 551) using the Hosmer-Lemeshow test, showed that the predicted values are similar to those observed., Conclusions: Complications continue to occur despite the evolution of the technique. The score was useful for stratifying patients and knowing the probability of complication before the procedere.

The aggregation-induced emission properties of tetraarylethenes (TAEs) have led to numerous applications in chemistry, biology, and materials science. Herein, we describe two fluorinated tetraarylethenes, which can be employed as universal tags for the synthesis of solid state luminogens. The tags are accessible in one or two steps from commercially available starting materials. Facile coupling reactions with ubiquitous substrates such as thiols, alcohols, amines, phosphines, aldehydes, and enamines allow preparing a wide range of TAE conjugates, including tagged amino acids, peptides, carbohydrates, steroids, and commercial polymers., (© 2022 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

Lymphatic vessels exploit the mechanical stresses of their surroundings together with intrinsic rhythmic contractions to drain lymph from interstitial spaces and serosal cavities to eventually empty into the blood venous stream. This task is more difficult when the liquid to be drained has a very subatmospheric pressure, as it occurs in the pleural cavity. This peculiar space must maintain a very low fluid volume at negative hydraulic pressure in order to guarantee a proper mechanical coupling between the chest wall and lungs. To better understand the potential for liquid drainage, the key parameter to be considered is the difference in hydraulic pressure between the pleural space and the lymphatic lumen. In this review we collected old and new findings from in vivo direct measurements of hydraulic pressures in anaesthetized animals with the aim to better frame the complex physiology of diaphragmatic and intercostal lymphatics which drain liquid from the pleural cavity.
