1. Developing a Work-Integrated Learning Model Adjusting to Construction 4.0 Concepts

Abstract

This paper reflects on the work-integrated learning (WIL) program in an undergraduate Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) department in Indonesia. Given the industrial revolution that has transformed the construction industry into Construction 4.0, concrete steps are needed to bridge the needs of industry for professional workers who are aware of Construction 4.0 concepts. This study aims to develop a WIL model adjusting to Construction 4.0 concepts. A case study of the internship experience that has been conducted for four consecutive years was used to develop the model. This observation was reinforced by a questionnaire survey aimed at students, workplace supervisors and lecturers to evaluate the effectiveness of the internship program in achieving the learning outcomes. The results of this analysis coupled with the findings from the integrative literature review were used to develop a Construction 4.0 WIL model.

Abstract

The need for buildings to support the population's economy continues to grow, especially in big cities. On the other hand, the construction sector consumes 36% of the world's energy and accounts for 39% of all greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2, in the world generated using fossil fuel electrical energy in buildings. In addition, the duration of activity of building occupants in the room can also affect the health of its occupants in the long term. This phenomenon is called sick building syndrome. Greenship, EDGE, and WELL standards which focus on environmental sustainability and the health of building occupants were introduced to solve these problems. However, to achieve this goal, the complexity of building design may increase. Building Information Modeling (BIM) can help unravel the complexities of design based on each of these three standards to their assessment. In the future, it is hoped that there will be more building professionals that prioritize the construction of buildings with Greenship, EDGE, and WELL standards in Indonesia. Therefore, this study focuses on the readiness of utilizing BIM in designing healthy-green buildings. This study uses a quantitative approach using questionnaire. Questionnaires were distributed to respondents with backgrounds as architects, contractors, or green building consultants. This study shows that the respondents are quite sure that BIM can facilitate the flow of information and communication of team members in the building design to the construction phase. However, when measuring the readiness of BIM technology to design, build, to simulate the operation of buildings that have high complexity such as healthy green building, the general consensus of the respondents is neutral with a slight tendency towards optimism on the BIM technology readiness. Respondents feel confident that BIM is best equipped to achieve Greenship standard design requirements. As for the other two standards, i.e., EDGE and WELL the respondents tend to be neutral. 13. ANALISIS KOMPARASI PERHITUNGAN VOLUME PEKERJAAN STRUKTUR BERDASARKAN METODE SPMI DAN BIM

Abstract

QTO (Quantity Take Off) is a measurement for calculating the volume of the entire building in detail. QTO calculation has 2 (two) methods, namely the manual calculation method using the SMPI (Standard Metode Pengukuran Indonesia) and the digital calculation method using BIM (Building Information Modeling). The BIM that used in the calculation of this research is Autodesk Revit. Both methods have their respective advantages, disadvantages, and have the potential to produce different volume calculation results. Therefore, both methods are used in this research and the results has been compared. The results of the total volume be written into a construction document called the BQ (Bill of Quantity). BQ generate calculations from both BIM (Revit) and manual calculations (SMPI). Difference in calculation results between manual calculation (SMPI) and BIM (Revit) calculation for rebar is 0,49%; concrete is 0,14%; while formwork is 0,07%. This indicates that the manual calculation method and the BIM calculation method (Revit) provide approximately same and accurate results. The largest difference in volume calculation results is found in the calculation of rebar due to inaccuracies of 3D modeling carried out by engineers. 3D modeling on Revit software requires special skill for precision, accuracy, and expertise, as the potential for 3D modeling errors is very high., QTO (Quantity Take Off) merupakan suatu pengukuran atau perhitungan volume keseluruhan bangunan secara rinci. Perhitungan QTO dapat dilakukan dengan 2 (dua) metode, yaitu metode perhitungan secara manual dengan menggunakan aturan SMPI (Standard Metode Pengukuran Indonesia) dan metode perhitungan secara digital dengan menggunakan BIM (Building Information Modeling). BIM yang digunakan pada perhitungan proyek ini adalah perangkat lunak Autodesk Revit. Kedua metode tersebut memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangannya masing-masing, serta mempunyai potensi menghasilkan hasil perhitungan volume yang berbeda. Maka dari itu, kedua metode tersebut digunakan pada proyek akhir ini dan hasil perhitungannya dibandingkan. Hasil total volume pekerjaan dituangkan ke dalam sebuah dokumen konstruksi berupa BQ (Bill of Quantity). BQ tersebut menghasilkan perhitungan baik dari perhitungan BIM (Revit) maupun perhitungan manual (SMPI). Perbedaan hasil perhitungan antara perhitungan manual (SMPI) dan perhitungan BIM (Revit) untuk volume penulangan besi sebesar 0,49%; volume beton sebesar 0,14%; sedangkan volume bekisting sebesar 0,07%. Hal ini menandakan bahwa metode perhitungan manual dan metode perhitungan BIM (Revit) memberikan hasil yang kurang lebih sama dan akurat. Perbedaan hasil perhitungan volume yang paling besar terdapat pada perhitungan tulangan besi dikarenakan ketidakakuratan pemodelan 3D yang dilakukan oleh engineer. Pemodelan 3D pada perangkat lunak Revit memerlukan ketelitian, keakuratan, dan keahlian khusus, karena potensi dalam terjadinya kesalahan pemodelan 3D sangat tinggi.

Abstract

Botulinum Toxin (BTX) has been found to have anti-spasm and analgesic effects. The utility of BTX after conventional hemorrhoidectomy remains unclear. Thus, a systematic review and meta-analysis are required to find out its utility after conventional hemorrhoidectomy. Using specific keywords, we comprehensively go through the potential articles on PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Europe PMC sources until March 27th, 2022. All published studies on botulinum toxin anal sphincter injection after conventional hemorrhoidectomy were collected. We were using Review Manager 5.4 software to conduct statistical analysis. Five clinical trial studies with a total of 260 patients undergoing hemorrhoidectomy were included in the analysis Our pooled analysis revealed that BTX injection after hemorrhoidectomy was associated with lower VAS at 24 h post-operative [Mean Difference −1.35 (95% CI −1.90, −0.80), p < 0.00001, I2 = 0%] and shorter time to return work [Mean Difference −8.94 days (95% CI −12.57, −5.30), p < 0.00001, I2 = 0%]. However, BTX injection did not differ significantly from placebo in terms of time to first defecation (p = 0.22), fecal incontinence (p = 0.91) and urinary retention incidence (p = 0.18). BTX sphincter injection may offer some benefit after conventional hemorrhoidectomy in reducing pain from the first day after the procedure and promoting wound healing without complication. Further randomized clinical trials are still needed to confirm the results of our study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
